Loyalty is no longer loyalty

When I joined Hotels it was 1 free stay for every stays. That is a 10% loyalty. Now it is about 2%. And these idiot tell me that there loyalty scheme is improved. Booking.com is better

It gets worse when you try to give feedback

I described my experience with the app and how it is discriminatory towards people with mobility issues. I then get a “can we chat elsewhere”, that doesn’t work. Very poor.

Temperature issues

This hotel was lovely except the shower was very cold. It only had enough hot water for 5 mins of hot shower not ideal for 2 people. Also the room was either really cold or hot and not adjustable.

Wheelchair users beware

The app resets to able bodied on every search. So if you select wheelchair accessible and book a hotel. The next booking resets to able bodied and if you didn’t know will offer entirely unsuitable accommodation. Good luck trying to resolve the matter with the ai slop machine that is customer service.

This organisation is terrible. I tried to cancel 15 minutes after my booking was emailed to me because the accommodation did not match the description. I was told I had to pay a one nights cancellation charge as it was the accommodation policy. I had to agree and then I received an email telling me I was not being refunded for the whole cost. I was told I should have cancelled two days before I made the booking. The accommodation did not said that it was not their policy but was Hotel.com.
Customer service said I was a no show despite correspondence saying I was being charged for one night only.
Do not use this company they look like rip off merchants and cannot be trusted to act fairly or lawfully. They refuse to provide their company address.

Can’t sign in on iPad

As per the title, when signing in it prompts me to enter a code however the text entry screen becomes non-interactive and the enter password alternative becomes unselectable so there is no way of signing in to an existing account ie: the app is unusable. I am using a 13” M5 iPad with the latest iOS and app version.

Lovely weekend in the Peaks based at the Pilsley

One key cash con

Rewards on this site used to be worthwhile. Now this rubbish one key cash is ridiculous. Been staying in numerous hotels and have earned £8 in total. Complete waste of money and the amount they charge hotels to book via them is extortionate. Will avoid in future until the greedy owners revert back to the previous business model.

Amazing hotel and staff

Had a wonderful stay here, unfortunately pool was closed for a couple of days, but the hotel kindly arranged for us to use the Marriott hotel pool and provided transport.
When our beautiful pool opened, it was spoilt by the lack of service.
When I mentioned it was difficult to sleep we were immediately moved to another lovely room with a Nile view.
I couldn't fault the hotel in any way. Every member of staff we met was super helpful and friendly and we really didn't want to leave.

Great location, good hotel and fantastic staff

Hotel has a great central location above the railway station( you don’t hear any noise) in the centre of town,a short walk to shops. Facilities are good and rooms adequate, but could do with better AC and ventilation and TVs that work. Staff were all fantastic and very friendly. Restaurant was average with offerings but quality was ok. Overall the hotel is good and I would use again.

Unable to receive relay emails using hidden Apple ID

No service at the main restaurant bar, no barman. At the pool, slow service at the bar and no pool service although there were about four staff standing around.

Disappointed stay. Used to be my favourite place to stay when in Exeter.

Where to start. Firstly wasn’t told that the reception had moved. Secondly went to my room and it was two single beds to put together even though I’ve booked to have a double bed so you have that little gap will join between two single beds. bathroom the panel on the bath screws were loose and hanging out. The sealant on the side panel was mouldy and dirty.
Breakfast was in those pot trays and was Luke warm. I ordered eggs by the time they arrived I did my breakfast. If the breakfast service had been full, I could understand but at the time there’s only three people in the area.

Not happy as can’t use promotional codes no more

I’m a little bit annoyed that you don’t accept promotional codes no more from different agents which I think is wrong as I have never had a problem up to now. So I don’t know why you have stopped it. Poor show guys

I’ve just got to reception to my fav hotel in Borehamwood asked for a quote on three days today Tuesday and Wednesday they gave me a price £240.
Quickly went on Hotels.com today tomorrow Wednesday19th 20th 21st
£177 with insurance in case of booking problem went to check in rejected they had booked me in for the following week, silly mistake I thought contacted Hotels.com we do not give refunds. I said I don’t want a refund just but wait for these three no this is a nonrefundable agreement. You’ve lost your money. I said come on guys. I’m here in the hotel. The dates I paid the insurance for booking problems. No not refundable. So be careful guys when you book these guys are just looking to trick you up I mean Poor show hotels.com
If someone contact me and change it to date, I shall remove this review and put it down as a if not it stays

Imperial Hotel Blackpool

The hotel and room is very dated and needs a huge upgrade/renervation. The hotel is dirty and our room and bathroom was dirty. The toilet basin outside was dirty with old urine stains, large big crack in the sink basin, skirting boards really dusty and carpet edging around skirting boards very dusty. The bedroom was very hot and the radiator could not be turned down, so the room was uncomfortable even with the window open.
The restaurant window tables the skirting boards next to the tables were really dirty with food and drink stains. Food was also very bland had no taste. We certainly would not stay there again. The only good thing to say is that the staff were polite at the reception but the hotels cleaning staff need training and to be supervised.

The cubes

This is just a 4 min Tuk Tuk ride from the town center. Nice big bedroom, clean and good AC. The Cube Cafe (ie hotel restaurant) is really v good. Massive portion sizes and really good food. The guys running it are really nice, helpful people. Worth staying.

Worst hotel stay ever

We were put in a room in what seemed like the attic. The fan in the bathroom sounded like an aeroplane getting ready to take off. There was no radiator in the room however they did have a heating fan which was just as loud as the extractor fan in the bathroom. The room was booked for two nights for two people. The only toiletries provided was a very small vile of bath/shower gel. We arrived around 2200 after a very long journey. When we got into bed my wife found an insect (ladybug) in the bed. The next morning I asked reception if we could change room and was told no other rooms were available. I asked for more toiletries and was told some will be put in when the room gets cleaned. This was at 0830 we went out and returned around 2230. We walked up all the stairs to our room only to find the key didnt work so another long walk to reception. As we entered the room we realised the room had not been cleaned or the bed made and no toiletries were replaced. I have had better service in a premier inn and at least I know the standard of room I will be getting. Horrible dated hotel with very very poor service. I could not recommend anyone staying here. I spend around £6k on hotels per year with work and pleasure. This was honestly the worst stay I have had.

Holiday Inn Exete

I cannot rate this hotel highly enough! From the minute you walk through the door you are treated like a VIP, everything from keys to car parks to breakfast is explained. Breakfast is buffet style, build a bap but you don’t have to do this, you can just have a delicious fry up, the bacon is lovely and crispy! A paper bag is offered if you don’t have enough time for croissants just pop them in your bag and enjoy with a coffee later! Annette is so friendly and very helpful too, you can ask her anything and she will help.
Same to be said for all the staff but Amie was amazing too. We asked for some softer pillows and within 5 mins, they were brought to the room Thank you Amie!
Another thing that makes this hotel a cut above the rest is the cleanliness, not just the rooms but everywhere. You can see that that the staff take a lot of pride in this hotel and it really does show! We have stayed at 5 star hotels and I would rather stay here! You will not be disappointed if you stay here and we can’t wait to stay again! Perfect location, great staff and ideal location just minutes from Exeter shopping centre! Enjoy 😊

The staff were friendly and helpful from the moment I arrived parking was easy and secure which made my stay even more convenient the room was spotless comfortable and quiet- perfect for relaxing after a long day the food of the restaurant was absolutely delicious with plenty of options for breakfast and dinner . 1st class all the way

We recently stayed in The White Swan hotel in Alnwick, it was an Anniversary trip so wanted something a bit different and upmarket, I booked our evening meal in The Olympic suite dining room, and wow spectacular does not do it justice, all the fixtures and fittings came from the RMS Olympic it was simply stunning, food was delicious and the service was nothing short of first class, from the wide selection of wines I selected a glass of Landon champagne, not many places would serve champagne by the glass , staff are all so friendly and we were given a beautifully secluded table at the top end of the room perfect to survey our surroundings, our room did not disappoint either, lovely comfortable beds and pillows, the bed was enormous, the hotel itself is perfectly situated for all the quaint shops bars and restaurants and right behind the hotel was the spectacular castle, my only negative would be the parking situation, yes there are spaces directly outside but you need to purchase a parking disc from one of the local shops, the hotel do not have them, and even with one of these you only get 2 hours which is not ideal for a 2 pm check in as after your 2 hours you need to move it. There is some parking at the back of the hotel for residents but this is extremely limited for the size of the hotel, directly outside the hotel to the back there are 3 car parks , a) is a 3 hour with a parking disc, b and c) are free for 24 hours but are always full as people working in the town park here, and d) is pay and display and used by castle visitors . All this should be explained when you book .

Costumers Service

Customer service here is nonexistent, horrible, I had a problem with the hotel where they sell accommodation service (The Trouville Bournemouth) the hotel does not match the photos on the internet, very dirty, the room they offered me had dirty pillowcases and marks on the sheets, there were no towels, the bedside light was not working, the bathroom completely without light, I requested a room change because maintenance came there to fix it after 40 minutes they were unable to solve the problem, they said I would have to go out for a walk for 1 hour but they did not even have a place for me to leave my bags, so I requested a refund so I could look for another hotel, but the customer service here with its total unpreparedness said that it was not possible, after much discussion they wanted to give me a 50£ refund of a total of 257£ that I paid for the weekend that I did not even use. Another thing, never pay for breakfast, they charge me 38£ to serve bread, water and coffee.

Convenient hotel near the river

For the price paid, the Holiday Inn Express was certainly value for money. The rooms are not generously sized but definitely adequate and the en suite shower room was very modern and clean.
I didn’t check whether evening meals were served before I booked and discovered that this hotel only does fast food snacks but there was a bar.
Breakfast is ample in quantity and a satisfactory selection given it’s an all inclusive deal - apart from rubbery croissants!
The hotel was very quiet at night and we slept well. Staff were helpful and friendly. Please note the car park charge is £16. There is a lovely pub/ restaurant just down the road with garden terraces overlooking the Exe but it is not far to walk into the centre. As an overnight stopover to break a long journey, it was a good choice.

Right in the City Centre

About a ten minute walk from the central station situated on four floors above shops. Could not be more central for shopping, sights and amenities. Reception very helpful and pleasant on arrival (and other times). Room with fridge and microwave (no evening meals). Little internal noise and room well insulated from most of the noise from the busy pedestrian street in front of the hotel. Sadly, l had two single beds joined together and not a double but apart from that the room was good. Buffet breakfast had a wide variety of items. As with most hotels the cooked items quickly became cold but otherwise fine with efficient staff. I would stay in the hotel again.

George and the Dragon

Arrived to find the kettle in the room had not been cleaned , covered in limescale. Only 1chair in a superior double room. Later noticed that the floor in the bathroom was dotted with water marks around the toilet. The non slip mat in the shower was filthy. Later when we tried to close the Venetian blind it was only usable in the up or down positions. We therefore had to have it closed. Or be seen sitting on the bed. We were later given a folding chair. After complaining we were offered another room. Which also needed the bathroom floor cleaning. We were then told that the credit card we had used had been declined. We were then asked to pay on the spot . As it was almost 9 pm . We had no choice other than to stay . We were charged for 2 nights.

Wonderful stay at the Sebel, Busselton

I can highly recommend this resort. We initially booked for three nights but extended to five as it was ideal for our needs, comfortable, spacious and very clean. The large room and bathroom were modern, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The balcony faced onto a busy road but the triple doors kept noise to an absolute minimum. The pool was very busy and in need of a good overhaul after the school holidays. Our room, 88, was only a short walk away but far enough not to be bothered by any noise. I would not hesitate to recommend and I am a bit fussy!

Recent family stay at the Movenpick

Our recent stay at the Movenpick Ambassador hotel on the executive floor was everything we could have wished for. We had lovely rooms, and the use of the executive lounge for breakfast, afternoon tea and evening buffet dinner. All the staff in the hotel were kind, attentive, professional and very smart. We just loved the outside area of the gardens and the pool. No other hotel in Accra can offer that.
We had amazing drivers everyday to take the family around to visit all the places we wanted to go. For us all, a magical return to where we grew up and to a hotel we used to spend time in in the 1960s and 1970s.

Wonderful place to be!

We had 2 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay. Beautiful setting, relaxed atmosphere, all staff were friendly and welcoming. We were greeting at reception by 2 lovely ladies, the spa staff were lovely too, the cleaners were polite and very friendly. Just all of our stay was good. Rooms were very clean and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was fab and the rooms it was served in were fantastic with a great view over the golf course. The lady serving on was an absolute delight, genuine and friendly. The weather had caused rather a chill and an oil heater was brought to our room immediately upon request. Excellent stay I highly recommend a visit here.

Night away

The hotel grounds were lovely.
We asked to change rooms as the original had a window from the bathroom straight out onto the car park with no privacy. The 2nd room was better, however the bathroom could do with a little updating. The room was incredibly hot and stuffy even with the windows open and fan on all night, no way of adjusting the temperature.
Breakfast was ok, quality was so so. You had to be quick to get pastries etc as when they were gone no more were available. Interesting with the waiter who obviously didn’t want to be there as kept wandering around mumbling and was not very helpful. Last thing he said when walking past with coat in hand was ‘I quit’
Funny thing was the hotel was offering a Fawlty Towers experience on another date, my husband and I thought it was happening early 🤣

Hot water and room 101 !

The hotel is lovely and a perfect position for Newquay which is one reason why we book the hotel every year. This year was a little disappointing as when we wanted to shower there was no hot water at all so had to go down to reception and to be told they had forgotten to turn the boiler on ! To be fair this was resolved within ten minutes but I thought to have the boiler on when guests are there would be a priority. The second problem was room 101 ! As I said earlier we book this hotel well in advance, maybe 10 months to get the best price BUT every year we get room 101 which is the smallest room ever. Is this due to me booking early for the best price. I was tempted when booking in to say to the receptionist have I got room 101 ! ! ! Stayed two nights but will still book again and hopefully next time might get a different room.

Outstanding Inn

There’s an endless choice of places to stay on Cape Cod, but hard to imagine that any are as perfect as The Tern Inn.
The location is mid cape so everywhere you want to visit is never too far away.
John & Lisa were perfect hosts, always smiling and they clearly enjoy hosting on their gorgeous property.
Our room (in the main Inn) was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed with the most comfortable bed.
They are lots of thoughtful touches, all day coffee (including take out cups), a naughty bit nice treats bowl in the lounge and bedrooms.
The pool area has been renovated this year with lovely loungers, Adirondack chairs and cabana towels provided.
Breakfast was amazing, the ramekin hot dishes cooked fresh every morning, with fresh sliced fruit and a great selection of toast, muffins & bagels.
We would highly recommend you stay here and will definitely “reTern”. Thank you John & Lisa for a great stay.

Unread Messages

I love the search and filter functions in the app, and also the ability to save hotels for future reference. Once I’ve booked, information and updates give me everything I need for my trip.
Lately though, I seem to have messages which I can’t mark as read. These are in the inbox. They pop up again unread if I read them, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to mark them as read in bulk. It’s a bit annoying if you like to keep things up to date in your various apps. The main worry is I miss an actual new message. I have a trip coming up including 3 hotels. I have 6 unread messages right now, but these are all from past trips/hotels. Am I missing something?

Good app but rooms 20% more expensive than on google

I don’t dislike the app. I’ve been using it for years as it’s clear and the prices were competitive.
Easy to see hotels on maps and ideal to be able to book up to 8 rooms at the time. ( I book for my team too)
The added perk of booking 10 rooms and get the average cost of those 10 nights as a reward made me choose it over the plethora of alternatives.
I regularly compare prices on the app vs google and there is now a >20% difference in google favour.
And the one key thing reward you a fraction of what the previous system offered.
One can have the best app, most integrated with other apps, if you’re significantly more expensive, it’s pointless.
Ive used their chat and the person could offer me similar rates to google.
But what’s the point of having an app if you need to go through the inconvenience of negotiations every time?
Price gouging has limits.
They’re on the verge of losing a client spending upwards £10k/ year

Great hotel, fantastic atmosphere and staff.

Stayed here for one night and loved it so much that I ended up staying for three! All of the staff here are very friendly and accommodate you wherever they can.
The Pool had events on through the weekend available to guests to attend, Saturday and Sunday day and evening party hosted by Jordan who is great at what she does and incredibly welcoming.
Helen at the front desk was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble, doesn’t feel like a corporate chain hotel in the way the do business.

Secluded, pleasant hotel and good value

Nice old style hotel, clean and comfortable. Good pool that you can actually do laps in but it was a little chilly. We still had fun playing in it with our kids though. The hot tub was a bit cool as well. The spa is great - excellent steam room and saunas. Pretty. Breakfast was buffet style with a wide selection that allowed you to be as healthy as you like! We sat outside or in a pleasant airy conservatory style area. Generally quiet but a wedding on a Saturday night involved loud techno type music until 3am, ugh.
Transport is either bus or taxi from Warsaw. We used uber which was pretty reasonable for a family of four, 20-25 mins. Warsaw has a good travel app also. The hotel can provide details.

Relaxing break

Had a great three days away at Pitlochry Hydro Hotel with our little dog Jack.
Room was excellent, and worth getting a superior room with view.
Staff were excellent and very accommodating with us as our little dog is very spoiled and needs to be near us all the times. They would set up our meals at tables in the lounge area just outside the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is very dog friendly with water bowls and biscuits provided.
Food was excellent and was glad we had booked breakfast and evening meals for our stay.

Delayed in Check-In. Not good!

Booked two nights in Holiday Inn Express Birmingham, Snow Hill. Found out early that I could not arrive on Thursday, so I called the Hotel and told them that I would not be able to come. Informed them I would arrive on Friday morning. I arrived Friday morning & it was a hassle getting checked in as they had put me as a “no-show”! It was embarrassing having to explain myself. The delay affected the meetings I had that morning.
Eventually checked-in, but the mis-communication, the hassles, the questioning of my integrity, etc., was ridiculous, as I called on Thursday to actually stop the situation from happening! Not good. Would file a complaint if I knew the process.

Short stay in Split

Just back from a wonderful few days in Split staying at the Marmont Heritage hotel in the heart of the old town,and I do mean heart as location could not be any better for exploring the old town and marina areas.
The hotel itself is very nice with spacious comfortable rooms although as in centre noise if windows opened could be an issue. Nice bar area both inside and out allows to sit and relax and watch world go by.
Never ate in hotel other than breakfast as choice of eating places in surrounding areas was massive. Breakfast had a decent choice although one complaint is nothing was ever hot even when we arrived as it just opened on the day we left. Would suggest investing in some better food warmers. Minor complaint though as plenty of cold options.
Staff seriously make this hotel however as were always smiling and happy to help, a credit to the hotel.
Would return and would recommend to others.

Nights stay

This hotel was great for my son and I for a night. Bistro was good for Sunday lunch. The only downside was, we were given a ground floor room with a key to access through the balcony door and informed to use the parking space outside the room. However, these spaces are not numbered to the rooms so anyone could park in them. This was ok as plenty parking elsewhere, but later at night when people returned to the parked car outside our room it was noisy. This has no reflection on the actual stay however as this was very nice. Perhaps they could number the spaces for the rooms though

Perfect location….

What a gem! Absolutely perfect location. The transfer offered and took was a little expensive and unorganised at the airport. We had to hang around for an hour or more. There was no one with a board as we’d expected. We used someone else back costing 1100TL. The room was large. We had the bay window one. Clean bedding and towels. The fabulous lady a breakfast needs a huge rise. She’s gorgeous and I hope when the owner sees this review, he passes on our best wishes. Also the afternoon and night young men are very helpful. The hotel is exactly as described opposite the Blue Mosque. Such a great hotel!

Building site

We have stayed at this hotel many a times before and were so disappointed this time. I suggest that nobody goes to this hotel whilst they are converting it to a Warners hotel. There was scaffolding, iron fences every direction you looked. I felt like I was in the middle of a building site.
There were no table and chairs out on the terrace, so we could not enjoy a drink over looking the Thames.
We had dinner on Easter Sunday, no lamb, just a very red beef and chicken legs that had more bone than chicken. The veg was over cooked and tasted disgusting. We asked for a beer when we sat down and after reminding the waitress again we got it in time for desert. The 3 course buffet was £32, wasn't worth the money. A 10% service charged was applied automatically, not sure why bearing in mind it was buffet. Again disappointing!

Business trip Paris

Second stay at the Wardoff. Reasonably priced versus others in this location. Well situated to metro and busy vibrant local area with many restaurant options.
I was given a much nicer room versus my last stay - although no major issues with the room in the previous stay. I was given a top floor room this time that was more spacious with space for a double bed,an armchair and a decent size desk without compromising walking room in the room.
Checkin was quick as was checkout and staff were attentive to any requests I had. I asked for breakfast in room which provided a reasonable portion ie croissant , bread, yoghurt, egg, a fruit and beverage. More than enough for me.
I would recommend and stay here again. Thank you

So disappointing

We have been coming to this hotel for over 15 years but sadly this last visit will probably be our last. We stay because we have family living locally and it always used to be a high spot in our year. The service has gone downhill. The dinner food on the night we had dinner was beyond poor (overcooked pork, synthetic tasting gravy and vegetables (not the ones offered on the menu)that had barely seen hot water. Awful service - setting up for breakfast definitely took precedence over serving us. We never got offered pudding!!!! Even after we complained to a waitress and the restaurant manager (who seemed to know service was poor but we never saw her IN the restaurant) they didn’t offer us pudding! We did get a small discount.
And then neither the hot tub, nor the sauna nor the steam room were functioning in the spa.
Sorry but I do not think we had even a 2* experience.
Breakfast was good and the rooms clean.

Muthu Clube Praia D’Oura

We had the best time on our 5 day break. Beautiful apartment spotlessly clean. The hotel building looks a little tired from the outside but it has been there a very long time I first went over 40 years ago. The only downside is we didn’t stay longer. I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat in any of their restaurants. Fantastic location right on the beach and near to the strip for nightlife if you want it. We definitely will not be waiting another 8 years before we return to this lovely part of the world

Decent budget option not too far from centre

If you want a budget option with free parking then this is a good option. Rooms are small and basic but comfy and clean.
Free parking and can register your car for 2 nights even if staying 1 so can spend 2 whole days parked even after check out to make most of your trip.
Can have option of continental breakfast but plenty of other places nearby to eat if wanting hot food. Tesco and Aldi over the rd. 5 min walk to fratton station then short train into Portsmouth harbour for a few quid return.

February stay disappointed

Hotel reception was lovely , wrong bed in the room but they quickly changed to twin .the room smelt stale like sewage , we told receptionist but they said they had no rooms to change us to yet the hotel was half empty . Spa was closed , jacuzzis and steam room shut for maintenance so only the indoor pool was open , this was really annoying as we only booked one night and booked our stay expecting to chill in the jacuzzi etc . Breakfast was in the sister hotel a 7 minute walk up and down a hill , although the food was good it was disappointing to have to do this and not advertised when we booked . We purely booked this hotel for bed and breakfast rather than eat out yet we had to go out of the building anyway . Booking sites should notify clients of this as it was not worth the money we paid when basically we slept in a hotel with no facilities on site . I would not recommend anyone to stay here until the season opens and the hotel is fully functioning. Staff in the sister hotel were very friendly and welcoming .

Excellent again

Second time staying at paloma beach, the first time was very good but this topped it, we had apartment straight on to pool with own sun beds, sun on all day up to 17:00, the apartment was beautiful and had everything you need for self catering 5⭐️in my opinion, paloma beach itself is never packed, pool always empty and on the whole very quiet, even though it’s not adults only it has that feel, bars on the doorstep very good, love the Market Tavern(1 min walk away) anyway back in October, counting down the days, can’t wait.

Lovely Anniversary Weekend

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Nice breakfast but had a lengthy wait on both mornings for key breakfast items to be replenished at the buffet. I feel the check in time of 4pm is too late for a city hotel which was made worse when the room still was not ready at 4pm. After complaining we were offered a slightly better room and free parking. The hotel room & the hotel itself were both lovely and would have got 5 stars if it wasn’t for the above issues. Would recommend staying here to others.

Love this place

Check in is easy at the bar, your then taken to your room. We booked a premium sea view and were taken to room 1 it’s a nice spacious and clean room. Bathroom floor around the toilet could do with an extra sweep as there was some dust but otherwise everything was clean and tidy.
The floorboards and door are very creaky but this is an old building so to be expected.
You can hear some bar noise in this room on occasions but not enough to prevent our enjoyment. When we go again my preference is rooms 4 or 5 both have a sea view along with room 1.
Breakfast is lovely with plenty of choice cooked fresh and included in the room rate.
Staff go above and beyond. We were there to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday and they kindly kept a cake I’d made in the cellar for us (had to be kept cool and dry) provided us with plates to eat the cake and helped to keep the get together a secret from my husband. Taking some of our guests around the houses to get them to they’re rooms without my husband seeing them. Thank you.
The staff make this place, they’re all amazing.

App Icon shows 3 notifications unread

The app icon shows as if I had 3 notifications unread but I do not seems to find them to mark them as read. I have uninstall the app and reinstall it again in the hope that this will solve the issue but, as soon as I install it again, the “3” reappears on the app’s icon.
Is there a way to get rid of this?
Also, when I go to conversations, the only thing I can see there is 3 conversations from previous trips that I would like to delete but it does not seem to be a way to do this. Most recent conversations I have had with one of my current booked hotels do not seem to appear in the list of conversations.

Ok

Loved the ambience of the hotel. The room wasn’t ready so we had a drink whilst waiting. The cost of the drink was astronomical. The reviews said each room was dedicated to a theme so we were looking forward to see what theme we would get. We had asked for 2 single beds. Two ladies in their 70’s were put on 4th floor which was a struggle with the stairs. The room, well I’m not sure how to explain. One bed was set within a wardrobe like alcove next to the bathroom. Luckily I had the other single bed. In the morning I had to help my friend out of bed as the only access was sliding herself to the bottom of the bed. The room would be ok for teenagers but not elderly ladies. Just make sure you don’t get 4th floor. Otherwise it was lovely hotel. Breakfast selection was outstanding.

Review section doesn’t work, fix these issues

1. Search sort option should be previous one say “sort by distance from landmark” not “recommended”. It’s should be guest’s previous setting. 2. Search date should be by default today’s date not some random date in future. 3. After showing list of hotels based selected date, when you select the property date changes again while showing room options and mislead by booking different date. Once guest chose date, it should not be changed by software after selecting the property but while showing room options. 4. Review section from app (both from mobile & website) doesn’t work even after many attempts, they don’t care to fix the bug. 5. Review from email link also doesn’t seem to work. They don’t publish comments but rating only. These are basic things to put experience of the guest. Fix these basic bugs. Then I will edit my review & rating.

Rundown and outdated

The hotel itself is really run down, floor in my room the wooden part was worn out. The carpet had what looked like cigarette burns in it. Walls had lots of marks or paint missing. Heating didn’t work. It wasn’t like they were busy so would have thought they’d had put me in one of their nicer rooms which if this is it I’m worried for the others. Food was only served in the bar for dinner which meant a limited menu of which a lot of items were not current stocked. The food I did order arrived cold. The knife I had was smoother than a babies bottom and struggled to even cut the bun of a burger. Breakfast was terrible for £23. Food had clearly sat under a hot lamp for a long time and was stale. Bed and pillows were alright, though stained with something red (did seem washed so assume clean) so I did get an ok nights sleep. Not one person asked how my food either dinner or breakfast was or how my stay was on check out.

Map view is horrible!!!

Once in map view on an iPhone and you’ve viewed a possible property, the property information window takes up half the screen and there is no way to clear it. Which makes exploring the rest of the map very difficult and annoying.
It be very useful if the app developers could add and small X or something to close the window so the whole map and available properties can be seen.

The Fox, Much Wenlock.

We had two lovely nights at the Fox, run by Olivia and her lovely mum. The warm welcome and friendly atmosphere of the pub was a true reflection of the delightfully historic, atmospheric and pretty town.
The food is delicious, good home cooked fare, generous portions and locally sourced.
Everything is clean and comfortable to make the stay very pleasant. The age of the building can lead to some issues, such as uneven bedroom floors, but it’s all part of the character and charm.
It’s an ideal base for visiting the many beautiful attractions in the area. I very much think we’ll return in the future.

App recently ruined

I love the company, the free stays are awesome and the selection of hotels is always good.
However the experience of the app is now awful. Mainly around how my search gets lost when I navigate out of the app ir my filters go if I change the search areas, also the search areas don’t work properly. Things sporadically appear or not for no reason. It’s ruined the exploring fun that used to end in bookings for us.
At this point in time we have stopped using the company because the app is just too frustrating to come back to.
We will check again in the future as we like the company but for now the app has spoilt the experience.

Hard to contact with a problem

I am a long term member, like to book with them and prefer to book with them. But if there is a problem, hard to contact. I couldn’t find a contact number anywhere. The chat function can help on simple requests but A recent problem took over 40 minutes of chat to sort out, It was misdirected somehow to the wrong team, then went through whole problem with Second person and waited while he rang the hotel for ages, then found he was cut off ( the chat didn’t show this so just had to start typing again when eating too long) then eventually sorted by third person. In the chat I asked twice for the customer service phone number but no response to this .also mentioned that my confidence in the company being undermined. No response to this either. Not too happy
Also the app doesn’t show new bookings a- which I need- only old ones

Glitch found on iPhone & iPad app

Overall, this is a good app. It gets used on a weekly basis with no real problems. Over the years I’ve been using this app, it’s improved a lot. But recently, since I can now air print to my home printer. When you select ‘View Receipt’ that works fine. If you then press the share icon in the bottom left of the screen; the app crashes, closes down and returns you to your Home Screen on your phone or pad. Not sure if this is an issue with anyone else, but at present, I have to resort to using my home computer and logging onto the website to print receipts off. A minor inconvenience I know, but it would save time and energy if I could print straight from the app.

Very temperamental

Not so long ago I had several issues with the app for one reason and another, most of which seem to have been addressed by the Hotels app support team.
However, of late, I’ve been unable to add bookings to my Apple wallet (error message: pass cannot be read because it isn’t valid, probably a .json coding error) and, despite contacting their Twitter team over and over, trying to find a way to report this to the app support team, it seems said team are uncontactable, whether it be via the developer link on the App Store, via Hotels[dot]com Twitter DM, or any other method for that matter.
I was actually told by one agent how to contact their developer team, which proved to be a wild goose chase, then another agent replied that it was impossible to contact their developer team and they promptly gave me the number for reservations!!
The upshot is that unless anyone from that team should happen to read this review, or tries to add a booking themselves, then the issue will go unresolved.
What a joke, Expedia really is too big and unwieldy that one hand really doesn’t know what the other is doing, or even where it is!

Terrible customer service

My hotel cancelled my booking as they did not feel they could adhere to Covid guidelines. I have spent many hours trying nonexistent phone lines, non-existent email addresses, having two hour virtual conversations with customer services trying to get my nearly £500 holiday refunded. They insisted the only way to deal with it was to cancel my booking although it had already supposedly been cancelled by my hotel! They assured me I would be refunded.
I have had £79 refunded (only part of my cash tax contribution) and no sign of the £400 of Tesco vouchers that were used to pay the holiday. I’m not quite sure where to go next as there doesn’t seem any way through their scandalous system. If I had one legitimate phone number or email address I could forward all the paperwork and conversations on. Any advice gratefully received

App could be better

Website is good, the app not so much. It’s mostly functional but a few things grate me:
- sliding scale on price filter is annoying because it’s hard to stop at the precise price you’re thinking of. Type-in is better imo
- new booking is nowhere to be seen. If you go to “Booking” you can only see completed bookings. Both upcoming and past should be in that area, with upcoming to be seen first as that’s the most relevant for a traveler
- there is no “search here” function when you move or zoom in/out of the map (c’mon, it’s 2020!)
- whenever you go outside of map view, and come back, by default it goes back to the initial far zoom and not my last view. Which makes it harder for me to find again the last hotel I look at
- in the checkout process, when you go out of the Hotels app (e.g. to check on dates on your email or another app), and come back, the check out process is lost, you have to start all over again rather than continue from where you left off
So yeah, mostly functional app but subpar user experience. I hope the product manager will take this user feedback!

Complaint

I booked a hotel through this website and when I booked it clearly stated I could cancel my booking up until 24 hours prior to arrival. When I looked to cancel my booking 3 day’s before arrival was due I was informed this was not possible and I would be charged. I was not due to pay for the booking until arrival to discover this money was taken from my account 7 days beforehand, I had not agreed to this. I did not receive an email to state a different date of the cancellation policy but was sent one after I complained to the team on the phone. I have been informed I will not receive a refund and I am now -£160 in my account that I did not agree to be taken. I am appalled by the way this has been handled by both the hotel and this company. I would like to make a formal complaint and have asked for advice on doing so which I was not given over the phone correctly. If I could have given less stars on the rating I would have. This is disgusting on the company and the hotel and I will not be using this service again for any future bookings. This has not been resolved and none of the team have been helpful. I feel I have been branded a liar which is completely unacceptable.

A lifesaver!

I love this App! I am a frequent user and a Gold member which provides dedicated 24 hour support. The support has been brilliant - I booked a hotel for my 19yr old son in London and when I dropped him off at midnight he had forgotten his ID and the receptionist wouldn’t accept his University ID even though it had his photo and Date of Birth. We were stuck with nowhere to go as the hotel refused to let him check in. The gold service helped me find another hotel at 1am which was really close and they resolved the dispute with the original hotel the next day. Definitely a lifesaver!

Customer Services

Very poor Customer Services where the Manager was adamant that he was unable to override the excess payment of Taxes on my Coupon which I had received for a previous hotel that had given us very bad services and rooms.
There was no mention of the voucher when given that I would have to pay extra.
The communication needs to be improved.
This is not being truthful upfront and on query, the manager was not helpful at all.
All he kept saying was sorry and unable to assist which as a Senior Manager in Customer Services myself, I am fully aware that a manager has the authority to override in the interest of good customer relationship.

Easy app but...

I really wish it wouldn’t reset the search engine every time I change the date of the booking. I’m entirely flexible on the date of the booking but I’m looking for a good price and so I’ll change the date to search for a better rate for the hotel I want. Unfortunately this resets the other search options which then means the app is showing me hotels in Sheffield when I’m looking for one in Manchester. It also loses the hotel rating and star rating that I specify so while the prices are always good and I’ve just redeemed a reward night to a value of nearly £70 the search protocol makes me question whether I can be bothered using this app again.
