Useless

So whoop you get free internet for 3 months while your traveling I’m told. What a load of crock!!

I’m at Grand Bahia in Mexico, following a review from someone who paid for Boingo and stated it worked here; I bought some time and can confirm it doesn’t work.

It connects to free Wi-fi hotspot but nothing else.

Poor wi-fi finder

When searching for hotspots, the map shows several clusters in the area. However, when you zoom in on those clusters it turns out there are no actual hotspots there after all.

Almost useless

I get about a 1 in 20 success as I travel , it is frustratingly useless

This is compounded by the fact that it inhibits the hotel and airport lounge normal logins and I end up having to delete the app to be able to login to hotels and lounges.

Useless and counterproductive

It made impossible to connect to free popular hotspot previously easy to reach. I had to uninstall the app in order to be able to connect again.

I start developing the opinion that Boingo have a special attitude in making the easy difficult.

As useful as a chocolate teapot

A company that puts its name to this useless app has lost the plot. The app doesn’t find WiFi. It doesn’t auto connect to Boingo hotspots. What were they thinking? All it does is tell me Boingo doesn’t know what it’s doing if they think this is a solution. The most useless app I have installed and uninstalled in ages.

Poor Customer Service

I wanted to try the app whilst in Jamaica and therefore subscribed and paid the month. I then cancelled the subscription. Possibly my error!!

I then used the app for the first five days and it worked well. Then it stopped working. I contacted Boingo and heard nothing in the 1st 24 hours (they do state 48 hours). I contacted them again after 48 hours and sometime after that I was finally contacted to advise I had used it too much!

You can’t use it too much, because the app disconnects you when you lock your phone.

They have refused to reactivate the account because I am either using it for commercial purposes or as a residential replacement!!

Not happy at all!

I gave it 1 star, because when it worked it was good!

Poor, battery draining app

Intermittent (at best) performance, seems to conflict with hotels’ wifi log ins even when they are allegedly a wifi partner and ever since I installed it, it drains the sheet out of my iphone 6S plus in double quick time, even when I reduced location settings. I will be cancelling my subscription.

Connection

The auto connect often doesn’t work. Take many minutes showing trying to login but often ended stuck on that screen until you give up or it just fail to connect.

For Wi-fi hotspot that have connected before, sometime it will auto reconnect, but more often a pop up will say Wi-Fi is available, press login to connect.

Not much point having the app for auto connect when you often have to go in and manually click connect.

WiFi finder it’s not

Loaded this for when I travel - it not only doesn’t find WiFi it seems to block you from logging on to hotel networks. Removed it and log on works.

Also just read JsyMike’s review and exactly the same issue.

When overseas boingo help is useless as WiFi blocked.

Boingo you need to sort this out.

The moment I install this app, open networks that are NOT boingo become impossible to join. Had to uninstall to get connected!! Terrible...

Worse than useless

Have failed to find Boingo networks when I have needed WiFi (eg Major Airports) failed to be of any assistance at places that had hotspots and I had to log in manually via settings app.

Finally and the deletion nail in the coffin this app prevents access to non Boingo networks that require sign in via a captive web page (e.g BA lounge Gatwick) somehow the app prevents the captive web page coming up to enter log-on details. Took over 6 months to figure this one out!

Painful to use

You buy a subscription and it connects to a hotspot. You'd think. Absolutely painful to use, takes so long to connect, juggling between wifi settings and the boingo app that it's easier to just pay for data use.

Completely useless app - avoid!

I travel frequently and have a Boingo wifi account however this app has failed to connect me to a Boing hotspot ever since I downloaded it (years!) Complete waste of space on my iPad so have now deleted as I always manage to successfully connect to Boingo hotspots manually. Get your act together Boingo, it cannot be that difficult to produce an app that actually works with your own service!

Unhelpful app

Unfortunately, this app prevents both my iphone and ipad from logging on to other wireless hotspots, in particular, UK "the cloud" networks, which are probably the most widespread in the UK. It doesn't seem to help in logging on to Boingo-enabled networks either. Really unhelpful, and no response from Boingo customer service. I've therefore uninstalled the app.

When apps are ignoring iPads that Are not that old then I Deleted the app in question due to latest update not compatible with my iPad,

iPhones only been out is it nine years can't believe app writer don't make them backward compatible which they can when compiling them. If they can't be bothered, then I can't either be bothered with there app and delete it.

Doesn't work

Neither the iOS app nor the OSX app actually connect. Map provides little detail about hotspots. Many of the listed hotspots are free anyway. Nice idea but sadly completely useless.

This app was a total waste of money! Was in Japan of a few weeks and as using WIFI over there is a bit of a hassle I thought this app with do what it says it does, but 99% of the time I wanted to connect to a wifi network the signal dropped or lasted seconds… a total waste of time and money!

The interface is user-unfriendly and there are some many steps to connect that I just deleted.

Very flaky!

Someone wrote 'OK when it works' and that is my experience too. Problem is it only works about 50% of the time. Even when on top of a known hotspot I sometime have to enter my Boingo credentials manually. Also, frequent error message to enable location services when they are already enabled. You get a sense of frustration when calling Customer Services -they know the app is unreliable and can't help

This app refuses to open. My device software is not the most up to date version but it was working about a month ago. If the app doesn't open then I need to cancel this......"service" ASAP

App keeps telling me I am not connected to Wi-Fi

And then tells me to turn on location services in settings on my iPhone - this is already enabled under settings- privacy. The app just sticks on a map of the US saying find and connect to 600,000 hotspots - basically I can't get the app to do much. I am based in the UK and have an active Biongo account that I set up as a feature of my Amex gold card.... Any help or advice would be good.

Came across this at Gatwick airport when delayed. However, only works there and never connects to any other permitted networks, when attempted. Great idea, dreadful execution. Don't waste your money. Apple should remove it from the store.

This app gives you a price to log on to the wifi for an hour and then charges you triple that amount. Have had to ring customer services and argue with them and cancel my account. They keep your card details though so beware. I think it is a
