Version 2.4
Used it originally on my PC, then bought the iPhone version. The dictionary with audio is very useful and searching is straight forward. I like the feature that any word in an entry can be searched too, which is very convenient. All in all, this is the best English dictionary I've ever found from Apple App Store. Highly recommended!

Simple and very helpful!!!

Extensive database of pronunciations. Reall excellent. With IOS5 I initially thought the audio had stopped working but it was my error (be aware of system mute!).

Good altogether

I thought that the basic function of this app worked very well. In short to find words, display synonyms and also to read those words out. Less than impressive was the ill thought out interface. There are many "what does that plus do?" moments. I can't help thinking that this would be THE go to dictionary app if it was designed to some of the usability standards of say the native Apple apps or ones like 2Do or Day One.
It does what it says on the tin... Just. 3 Stars.

Essential

Should be installed by Apple as standard. As one reviewer mentioned, remarkable to have in your pocket.

Well designed

The vocabulary is not as extensive as I had hoped and the audio does not always use a British accent. Nonetheless, works as advertised.

Subtle differences missed

Generally I think this is a good app, and I can see it coming in very handy during play rehearsals when there is disagreement about a word's pronunciation. What is slightly disappointing is that while clear dialectical differences between UK and US English are marked (eg LABratory or laBORatri) common accent differences are sometimes ignored - US English tends to be far more rhotic than UK English, and have darker dark Ls, but these are sometimes ignored and you'll often hear a clearly American voice giving what is supposed to be a UK pronunciation (and vice versa), albeit only subtly different.
I accept though that for a mobile app (and one that's already pretty large) some compromises had to be made. The accent issue is slightly disappointing - you couldn't use this app to study a different accent, and it maybe hard to convince someone that yes, that really IS the correct UK pronunciation when the spoken example is in a US accent - but overall, for the price, this is a remarkable thing to be able to carry around in your pocket.

Very impressive dictionary. I use daily and have bookmarked tons of useful words that I use in my university essays. Brilliant. Even though I got this ages ago when it was free, I would pay the money for it no doubt.

Brillint app but no Thesaurus in my copy. Why not ? (as stated in the app info) Otherwise 5 stars ( I really am disappointed) Audio is the very best.

Not all English..?

Although this states this is an English version, only words that would sound different between the two (American and English) version are pronounce in English. For example the word 'Bath' is pronounced in English rather than American. All other words that would very similar in both languages are actually pronouned with the American tougne.

Very good

I won't be needing another dictionary any time soon, excellent auto-completion, wildcard functionality, and the audio feature is impressively good, with very realistic pronunciations.

Don't judge this by the cover

An astonishing achievment that I'd previously overlooked due to the poor icon. A mistake on my part. So far the best and most comprehensive dic. on the iPhone at the sub £10 level and I expect probably would worry the others a bit too.

Astoundingly good

Not just the best iPhone dictionary (and you can switch between British and American spellings), it's also amazingly fast, suggesting words before you've finished typing. Clear examples of just about every word in use, and it pronounces the results - in English. A built-in crossword look-up facility, too. To cap it all, it's free.
Worth the 235 Mb download? Absolutely.
