Very good efficient service at the branch. La Caixa San Sebastián de La Gomera. Carmen speaks English which is very helpful when dealing with important financial transactions. I speak Spanish but appreciate the help it gives me to have an English speaking person at the desk. In this case I was required to pay three 946. Euros maintenance payments to Urb. Mar y Teide and also a large payment for electricity renewal required by the government. The total was more than 4,000 euros so I am glad to have a bank capable of large transactions and helpful English speaking staff. Thank you

My Spanish bank

When I moved to Spain I was told that Spanish banks were difficult and the staff were unhelpful.

This could not be more wrong as my Ciaxa bank let by a remarkable manager Olivier and wonderful staff have been brilliant with me and have made my banking very easy to understand and the internet banking is a pleasure to use.

I think most English banks could learn so much from this fabulous bank manager and his staff on customer service.

I have banked with Caixa for many years now and have always had a good service from them. Whenever I have had a query it has always been dealt with in a helpful manner and resolved. Any thought? Have not been able to use my debit card for a month!

The App was updated over a month ago, and after that it has been literally impossible to use my debit card (which I pay a fee for just having) so have been forced to use my credit card for everything instead. Caixasign app simply crashes every time and just says ‘alert’ with an exclamation mark and the process repeats indefinitely. I have spoken to my advisor at the local branch who was rude and unhelpful and could not sort the problem. I Cannot face going back for another hour of pointless arrogance, so am looking to change bank urgently.

This app is great when I finally got it set up! I had tremendous difficulty setting it up but the adviser at my bank rang me to talk me through the whole process. This was about my fourth or fifth attempt to set it up. My adviser is great in that she rings me up knowing that I am in the UK and cannot get to the branch or any branch. App is excellent and very user friendly. Wish some other banking apps were as user friendly. 👍👍

My Least Favourite Banking App

… and my least favourite bank! First the positive - the iPhone app opens quickly and shows your account balances on the home page although you do have to scroll left if you have more than one account. Unfortunately the rest is negative - eg much if the rest of the homepage is taken up with the bank selling you stuff including many products you’ll not need or want. If you do the same thing regularly then you’ll remember where to go in this maze of an app. If however you are only an occasional user then finding where to scroll or click to do the simplest tasks such as moving your money to and from your ‘spaces’ is not obvious either by scrolling or using the useless drop down menu. The app writers need to make this app much simpler and more user friendly. They should look at how other and particularly the leading British banks have improved their apps. The CaixaBankNow is years behind what the best are doing. Like many people I no longer have any brand loyalty so get rid of the crap give your customers what they want or like many other organisations who treated their customers badly you’ll lose not just me but many others.

Why 3 separate apps?

Cumbersome apps with separate apps for signing transactions “Caixabank sign” and “Caixabank pay.” Why can’t everything be simple and in just 1 app? Needs development! My wife just can’t get on with it, it’s forever telling her to resubmit her password which she forgets and then its locks her out. Really frustrating user experience.

I have for years used my fingerprint to log in. Recently, since the take over Ciaxa bank have suddenly blocked my account!!!

Still can’t login after over a week of trying, getting messages like come into branch, but I’m in U.K.?

Spoke on phone, no good, she tells me to do various things with my smart phone??? I don’t have a smart phone,

I ask for it in English because I don’t speak Spanish?? Instructions come through in spanish, she tells me to use translate on my smart phone, I don’t have a smart phone.

I am a 76 year old pensioner and have difficulty using modern technology! I can’t access my bank account, I have been with this bank in its various forms for over 20 years, now I can’t pay my suma or utility bills for my holiday home because the bank has been taken over and has now blocked me from using my own money in my account!

When I try the app it tells me , not available!

My solicitor in Spain, although they have my power of attorney, say that the bank will not let them have details or access to my account for data protection issues!

Worst website on the Internet.

I have been with this bank since Barclay Bank days, and wonder myself why I am still with them . To use their website is normally impossible and ends up a visit to the bank. Constantly changing what they call upgrades causes all my equipment to crash.

Smooth transfer

As a Bankia customer we were worried that transferring to a new bank after the takeover by CaixaBankNow may cause problems. We have had no problems at all, and the whole thing was handled really well!

Latest update made it unworkable

The app used to work perfectly but after the latest update, it’s impossible to find anything. In order to sign in, the app asked me to download the CaixaBank Sign app on another device before it would let me sign in. Having signed in, the eggtimer equivalent went on forever. It will be quicker to walk to the branch rather than use the app!!!!

Some bits of the ap don’t work.

Trying to get an appointment with my advisor through the Ap but having filled in all the details and click continue and it just throws you out. Apparently it doesn’t make the appointment because when you log back in, no appointment has been scheduled. Also, I wanted to download a list of my direct debits but it won’t do that either. Looking for a new bank now.

Also, if you take time to fill in a transfer or other documents, it just times out even though you are still working on a page.

Needs improvement

The app takes too long to open up compared with other bank apps I have. There could also be a search bar at the home screen so that might replace the bot , which I don’t really rate very much. The biggest bugbear for me is that now that we are forced (WHY??)to use another separate app CaixaBank sign to replace the coordinates card to authorise payments I can’t use it because I have a uk mobile and for some reason their system doesn’t accept foreign mobile phone numbers. So I can’t receive notifications -sms-text messages nor use the caixabank sign app! The Santander bank can and does accept uk mobiles so why can’t Caixabank? Please sort this out and I will praise you guys and give you 5*****.

A good bank for expats

They are easy to deal with and have a lot of branches. The online app does all that I want. It is simple to use, has a number of language options (so ideal for monoglots) and has generally fast response times.

Unhelpful for non Spanish residents

The app worked great until the European regs changed to a 2 stage log in method

Got locked out of my account I ended up having to fly out to Spain attend my account holding branch and they said they had reset the log in

Stupidly I accepted they had sorted out the issue but when I got back to the UK the log in info they said was now active wasn’t and I can’t get in to my account

Customer Support is useless no one answers the phone and you rack up a bill for an international call to get no response

Best Bank for Expats

They’re quick, efficient and attentive to details. They speak YOUR language, (Mine being English and the English are notoriously bad at learning others languages!!), and whilst appointments are a good idea, mostly we can walk into our local branch in Maspalomas and speak to someone within 15 minutes max.

They sort out your utilities, connections, bills etc, they sort out any troubles you are having with language and they are always friendly!

What more can I say? Pretty much the opposite of UK banks!
