It is very helpful for when u play golf but it doesn’t tell u the that it only does a few courses for some features it’s good if u have an Apple Watch as well I recommend it if u feel Like u need to see the hole from high up it helps a lot but very expensive also they should add what club she need to hit into the Apple Watch and the green readings too all onto the watch they need to add more feature on the watch

I played a round at El Higueral in Spain and found the corse wasn’t mapped. Filled in the form on the website to request the course be added and in less than 48 hours the course was mapped & loaded.

I downloaded the free version to have a look at its features. I was really interested in the feature that allows you to see the slope on the greens. I play a lot of golf on courses I’ve never played before and being able to know which pins to attack and which ones not to is really helpful. It’s a shame that I couldn’t find any courses in Scotland that had this feature.

Hopefully in the near future they will be added and I might consider making this my main golf app.

No good for UK.

Having searched so far all the courses in England none have the approach and green maps. So it’s just another GPS app with no green maps unless you’re in America.

Maybe if they actually add UK green maps it might be worth it. Seems a long long way off.

Great app - simple to use with all the features of a premium GPS unit. However, running on a smart phone it is battery hungry and given the number of these that are widely available it is too pricey to get me to invest

Doesn’t care unless you are in the USA

This app only works in the USA. The idea behind this app is great, but it only has American courses. I have been asking for St. Andrews to be included. The Old Course for example is the most famous course in the world, but even that isn’t available because it isn’t in the USA.

Not worth the money if you are in the UK

Trialling this software but as others have said, cannot use the Apple Watch features in the trial version which is the biggest appeal. Also there is no putt and line data for UK courses... at least not many. I scanned through all courses in a 40 mile radius from me and not one of them has the putt and line data. Will probably be excellent once they update for UK courses.

Greens

Upgraded to premium so I could get the greens how they were running.

Played in Scotland / England / and Tenerife not one of the courses supported by the app keeps telling me they will be added but my year nearly up for what I paid for and still not added the greens.

Disappointed

I paid for the upgrade for greens information and approach only to find that on no course on the Algarve was this feature available and nor was it on any course local to me in the UK. Feels like s bit of a con and expensive without these features. Pity

Poor Trial

It was between this and Golfshot, Even if you get the trial, you still can’t use the Apple Watch app and thats a big feature for me and I won’t invest money if I can’t try that out. Other problem is Approach+Putt data is limited in the UK, maybe if they fixed those two issues Ill give it another go, it does have potential though.

I don't use all the features but the rangefinder is pretty accurate most of the time and it loads pretty quickly so you are not hanging around waiting for it to tell you stuff

Wonderful App

I play a lot of courses around the South Midlands in 3 Societies and this app makes for easy recognition of hole shapes on courses unknown to me previously.

Great

Works really well, especially if you upgrade. Importantly it doesn't kill your battery.

Only small snag is having to cancel a warning I have data roaming off every time I look at the app when abroad. By all means do it once! Overall though does basics very well and has some nice additional functionality to improve your game.

Useful scorecard!

Handy little app. Fairly accurate distances on the courses I've used it on - useful for courses you're unfamiliar with.

Nice way of keeping your old scorecards too so you can compare how you're improving through the year (or not as the case may be!)

After Sales is pathetic

Used to love this app but have had a problem with it crashing and it is now unusable. Emailed support on a number of occasions but never received a response. Waste of money !!

Messy App

Was looking to see what options were available as I currently use Golfshot (which I love). Trying this out I found it really "clunky" and poorly designed. It's nice that it has the 3d artwork for the course, but other than that it's just not got much else to offer. Reverted straight back to Golfshot GPS and won't be looking elsewhere.

Much improved

Got this a couple of years ago on iPhone 3s & was very frustrating. Using now on iPhone 4s & much better performance follows around the course better with immediate distances. I'm going to upgrade to champion level as its distances to hazards & pins are as good as £300 gps range finder. The only down side is can only use in home country as data roaming will cost too much.

Beware of subscriptions

The app itself is not bad but beware if you are planning on upgrading. The subscription renews without advance notification and there is no option to cancel via the app (the user must call, email or cancel in writing!) Poor form.

Not very good - not accurate enough

Tried it quite a few time now, it not very good.

All the features show so much promise only to be let down by the accuracy.

It is also very slow, when in general play, you can not wait for the slowness of this App.

I love it

Was thinking of buying a Garmin G6 but at over £200 wanted to play with an App to see if I would really use the features. Tried this and paid £14 for full features. Really good and will think again in another year. A lot of £14s in £200. Can be a bit heavy on the iPhone battery but I have a USB on my trolley. Would recommend but you would need to manage battery life if no USB.

Small update. The 9 hole course I play has a few par changes when playing 18 holes, par 5 becomes par 4 second time round etc. let the team know and 30 minutes later new course update created. Now that is service from a listening company.

Excellent value for money,good to save a few shots. However I have one problem, the time it takes the GPS to register distances for each shot. Often by the time the app shows the correct yardage I have already played my shot, if I waited for the correct distance to register I would have to spend the rest of my golfing life 'on the clock' I do hope you can help with this, maybe something in settings? All I got out of this app was spam

I downloaded this ages ago, you have to create an account to use it. Ever since then they've spammed my inbox, and no matter how many times I unsubscribe it still comes.

Avoid like the plague, look elsewhere for your golf app needs.

Good app a must for any golfer.

The app provides you with nearly everything a golfer needs. Three things I would change.

1. First is add a stableford scoring calculator, handy for all especially those new to the game.

2. I would also put the score between the continue/end round buttons as it can often cause issues mid round when you have no coverage to re-download the course.

3. When a course is added to favourites the images and gps should remain saved so there is no need to download courses again.

Other than that its the best on course golf app I have used.

Pretty disappointed

I looked for this app because all of my other golfing friends had similar ones but when I looked at the description it told me I had in app add on fees, this seemed true until I played a round on it and it told me I had to pay for visual pictures. Pretty disappointed.

Latest update ruined the app

Ive had this app since the beginning of the year and it was great - at first. Every time it updates it seems to get worse. at first there was adverts after every hole which was annoying and now with the latest update it takes about 5 times longer to open and is very laggy. The app doesnt have the imagery for some of the holes on my course either which is stoipping me buying the full membership.

I dont know why people are complaining about battery usage, i can play a full round using the app and only use 10% of my battery.

Excellent app. Well worth the money. One course I played the yardages were not quite correct but think that was more to do with the signal. Really quick turn around on mapping courses. Asked on a weds to get 2 courses mapped and done within 24 hours. Would like to see a stableford scoring option on the card but apart from that really happy

Excellent App

Using the free app at the moment but will probably upgrade in the near future.

Tried the app on a new course that I had never played before and it was a fantastic help planning my way around. My playing partners kept asking 'HOw far to go, and any bunkers'.

My own course, a small 9 hole with 18 tees was not on the database, but was soon added after a request. Requested on a Sunday and it was there to use in the Monday.

Support has been fantastic when making alterations to the mapping of the new course, and for this alone would be worth upgrading.

Give it a go, I'm sure you'll find it a great app too.

First impressions are good

Haven't been on course with it yet. Set it all up in wifi zone. But looks good so far with some courses I didn't think they would have on db. Will update after my first round with it. Weather permitting until I get a waterproof cradle for my trolley that is!!!

A cracking app, this app is the best I've used all the others have slight problems. It's even battery friendly, don't no why all the other apps drain my battery this one only uses about half (on iPhone 3GS ) and all the data is spot on. LOVE IT

Wow what an improvement

Thought the free aspects of this app were great for what I am (high handicapped golfer) however with this latest update I'm sure it will only assist in bringing my handicap down....I was using this alongside another player who had PAID £1.50 for a rival app, he spent more time looking at my phone than his own. Despite the improved GPS with the areal view of hole battery consumption has improved vastly and that was with brightness cranked up due to bright sunlight. IMO this is the. Best FREE golf GPS app in the apple store, what have you got to lose trying it? You won't be disappointed.

Simple, clear and it works!

I downloaded several GPS apps and found this one to be the best. The free version just gives the yardages to the centre of the green, but that alone has seen my golf improve because I'm committing to my club selection and now I have a more consistent golf swing. I am going to upgrade to the full version which to be honest is only a fraction of the cost of standalone GPS systems and you'll get all the information you'll ever need. Highly recommended.

New update required

Used this app for first time yesterday and the yardages seemed to be there or thereabouts but will try it out on other courses I play on a regular basis! Was not impressed that Aerial Images where not available on Norwood Park in Nottingham. So could not test out apps full potential. Also it asks you to setup Course Tee Boxes and asks for US Course and Slope Ratings that don't apply in UK so next update needs the option to select US, Europe and UK etc handicap scoring system. UK equivalent to a US slope rating is SSS Standard Scratch Score and CSS Competition Standard Score. Then once this UK option is available it then needs to work hand in hand with scorecard tab so if you want to automatically add your Stableford scores in scorecard it will look at number of strokes per hole entered, check handicap and stroke index and will automatically enter your stableford points scored per hole. However you will need another option to select full handicap or 3/4 handicap option for competition scoring!

Great idea - and when it works it's brilliant. However finding 3G In the middle of a field does not normally happen! I give up trying to download the course by the 6-7 hole. This app should have the ability to store the course before you play it. Good to see ios4 update.

Impressed

After Reading all bad reviews, I didn't expect much BUT it was spot on, yards were only about 1 or2 out from fairway markers. Battery was good, only used about 30%. Cloudy day, gps picked signal up quickly. The thing stopping me from buying is the yearly fee!

Rubbish

Was really looking forward to this app, I am a 5 handicap golfer and have used laser range finders and sky caddies. This app does not come close to either of the other two mentioned. The battery only got me to the 11th and some of the yardages were actually comical, I even thought I must have downloaded the wrong course (I hadn’t). Will give another couple of these apps a go, if they are no better I will stick with my Bushnell
