StudioMini is a professional quality music maker and audio recorder. Technically speaking it’s a digital audio multitrack recording studio, but that’s a mouthful!
StudioMini is designed to be very easy to use, to help you instead of getting in the way of your creative flow. It comes with drum loops, professionally produced and only available with StudioMini. It can record high resolution audio. You can collaborate with your bandmates by easily sharing your project back and forth on Dropbox, Google Drive etc. You can easily begin a project in StudioMini and export your high resolution wav files for continuing the production in Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton or any DAW of your choice. Or you can stay in StudioMini and create a high resolution mix ready to use with Apple Digital Masters and Apple Lossless for streaming.

You’re humming a melody, a couple of chords start to form, the spirit of the muses starts flowing through you. Select a beat from a practical and curated set of professionally produced drum loops, made for and only available with StudioMini. You can adjust the speed to taste, then focus on capturing high quality audio with your interface and pro mics. Or, simply and quickly get your idea down using your headphones and the built-in mic. Mix and pan to taste. Export and share a final mix of your song in high resolution audio, ready for mastering. Or export the individual tracks and continue the production with your producer in Pro Tools.
Lay down a couple of guitar parts, then share your Project on Google Drive, Dropbox etc. all without leaving StudioMini. Your bass player can open the StudioMini project, add bass parts, then save it back for your singer to add vocals. Punch in easily and fix sections, add new parts later, overdub to your heart’s content. Ultimately we’re making music and not having the distractions of endless desktop DAW options can help us focus on the song, our performance, and all the things that connect our ears to our hearts. This company stole £5.99 from me. I bought StudioMini some years ago. Recently I discovered Otreus had cancelled my purchase with no refund and expected me to rent the app. Many attempts to contact them have led nowhere. They do not communicate. Avoid these thieves.

Review
Have used Studiomini for many years now.As a song writer I use it all the time on my iPhone. It is at the top of my musical tool kit in fact I use little else!! Having adjusted to the recent update I will continue to use this great piece of software. I am surprised that it was free for so long.

A sad end.
I own this app.
It hasn’t been updated for 4 years but, what’s this? The app has suddenly woken up and the long hibernation is over, with a cheery announcement of new features “you’ve been asking for” like stereo recording.

After downloading it, a landing message from the “we’re musicians too” devs pleading poverty and the costs of constantly (nothing for 4 years, mind) maintaining the app - the usual stuff. Oh dear, surely not.

Emailed for support, they don’t reply. It doesn’t work. Thanks for taking my money and then not replying to emails. Way to go guys. 💩 Still not able to get this to work. *Actually no this was originally written when I first bought it years ago I didn’t get any replies to numerous emails so I left this. I have since only added “Still not working” a few days ago hoping for help as your email address was so hard to find. I have finally received some advice from you, where you have said I need to have eternal stuff. Don’t jump to conclusions. Having emailed and emailed when I first bought and received no help I was left with no option originally. You emailed me this afternoon and now you are pouncing on this when it’s been here years. *

Great app for getting your ideas down. Easy to use and a handy drum machine to add loops to the songs you create. Shame you can’t adjust the speed of the beats yourself (just gives slow/mid/fast) but there’s a range of beats to choose from

Perfect UI
Just bought this to get a tune down in the middle of the night, that’s been rattling around my head all day. It indeed, works just like my old Tascam 4-track, as another reviewer has said. Without reading any instructions nor having to do a few “takes”, I successfully recorded my tune on the first attempt, everything was completely obvious and worked exactly as I wanted and expected. Even mixing down the result and emailing it to myself was trivial.
What more can I say? A very well-deserved 5 stars!

Very easy to use. 4 separate tracks. I use it to record Rhytym guitar/Bass/Keys/Lead Guitar. Really good fun and ideal for beginners. Love it.

This is a really good recording software, it reminds me of the days I spent recording onto tape with my old tascam 4 track. I really like the simplicity and the end results but unlike a tape deck you can't just hit eject and share it with friends and that's where this app falls down for me. Mixing down is fine but sharing is a fail, you/I can't export to other apps directly. I can't find a way to directly upload the results to sharing sites. This is a total pain. I can access the files over wifi on my iPad but from there it's a dead end. On my Pc I can save the files but all my music software is on mobile devices so it then has to go from pc to my iPad for a tinkering before sharing. To have to insert a pc between iPhone and iPad is annoying. Even if I install it on my iPad the same problem exists. I'll be looking into the iPad version but if it's the same but bigger forget it.
If you just want to record Demos without sharing I'd recommend this as it is a good app for that.
If you could upload to Dropbox or something similar for me it'd be closer to 5* but sadly it's lacking this feature.
It would also be nice to change the tempo of loops, I'd be happy if that was added as an IAP.
All in it's pretty good!

Awesome little app
I've used this app quite a lot, usually by playing karaoke discs from my PC and recording it.. It picks both the music and your voice really well and it's pretty user friendly. Transferring songs you record to your pc/laptop is a walk in the park once you get used to it. I've not found a better app thus far! Good job developers!!

Awesomeness for under £3 - Can't go wrong.
I can't recommend this app enough. I've been recording for years now and thought I'd try this as a quick access format for getting ideas down. I have to say though that I was pleasantly surprised at the quality (even when using a nearly 5 year old 3GS). Being able to send the recordings by email is a great feature but the ease of use makes this a MUST for musicians at all levels. Thanks for a great app 😃

Really good App, simple to use and does what you want it to... Sound quality good enough for recording quick demos and easy to get good results from. Would be good to be able to do a 'live mix' and change the rhythm tempos though.

This is a fantastic app, I use it for song writing, just pop on the piano and go, then 3 more tracks for lyric ideas, the quality is great. For the money, it doesn't get much better, I've worked with 7 no.1 bands over 23 years, I know my thing! Just buy it!! Brill.

Best recording app about!
I haven't stopped using this app since its come out. A multitrack on an iPhone that actually works! I bought so many before that failed.
For this app to be CRAZILY good I'd love :

Okay, but why no pan?
This is potentially a great app, but why is there no pan control? This makes it practically useless for the iPhone 4 which only records mono via the inbuilt mic.

This app is pretty good and I would like to use it when recording with my band, but it would be much cooler if you could loop your own recordings instead of just ones that are pre-recorded. That would make this app totally worth the money and a detonate 5 stars!

Just awesome
I cannot believe the power of this little app, coupled with the power of the miniature supercomputer that is the iPhone 4.
I've recorded music and audio all my life and this is probably the single most gobsmacking piece of 'kit' I've come across in all those years.
Why? It is so simple to use and the quality of the recording using the built-in iPhone mic is (when you consider it's size) is nothing short of remarkable. On top of that, the drum loops are great for recording with or just jamming along to.
The whole interface is completely intuitive to anyone who has used a four track before.
I just LOVE it. Select a drum rhythm to suit the song you want to play, enable track 1, put your iPhone in the table, switch off the monitoring option, stick headphones on and record a rythm guitar track.
Keep the headphones on, enable track 2, and record your lead vocal... And so on.
What's really neat is that if you don't have headphones, you can put the phone to your ear to listen and sing your vocal like you were making a phone call. Despite what is in reality a very limited range of technical possibilities (lets face it, you're working with a phone with a built in mic or a line in) they seem to have somehow made the absolute most of what this could do.
I went one step further: I lined a cardboard box with acoustic foam and left half the top open and half covered with foam. I then turn that on its side and place the iPhone inside there with the mic end pointing towards the outside world. I sing or play into the box (I can even place my Roland cube into the box itself for electric guitar tracks). This gives a really clean sound that's way better than just recording in the open and picking up all that ambient noise.
I haven't even got started with this App yet - and for about 3 1/2 English pounds it is nothing short of awesome.

Dj's don't buy!!!!
Wasted money on this app, i was looking for a small app so I could plug my aux lead into my phone to record vinyl from my technics decks using my technics mixer, it does what it says but quality is rubbish, sounds like listening to the recording in a fish tank, pathetic not for me, any djs looking for the same as me don't download, stick with your laptop and sound forge!!!!!!

Just a fantastic app particularly active for vocals. If there are updates to come with effects then even better. Just what I need for developing my ideas and showing what I am capable of doing. The mic capabilities are high standard more so than expected maybe some expect too much. Thank you guys very happy I bought this app !

Just started recording demo's again. Brilliant.
Little tip once you have put your 1st track down, just use headphones to record the rest like in a real studio so you can hear the tracks.

I cannot believe this amazing app! Everything a musician needs to capture tunes, lyrics and arrangements on an iPhone . And I can import to my Ableton suite on the pc. Excellent idea and so easy to use. Strongly tempted to give 5* rating but will do so if an upgrade gives speed control to the loops. Well done chaps!

Great four track recording
What a great piece of kit! Just like having my old Tascam four track in my pocket - not that it would ever have fitted there. Simple intuitive interface and straightforward input monitoring. The only extra I would have liked is some simple effects for the tracks eg reverb. Big well done to the developers.

This does exactly what it says. It's easy to use and keeps it simple and fantastic for the cost. Would get 5 stars if you could have more options on drum loops or ability to "bounce" tracks but I love this app!

Great little studio on your phone. Effects are coming soon and when that happens I will give 5 stars. Obviously as this is on a phone don't expect a pro studio but is easy to use and results are good. Great for recording demos.

Simple but perfectly formed
It's a dead simple app but does it's job. I believe input monitoring is coming in next update. Recording from built in iPhone is surprisingly good quality. I'd like to be able to adjust tempo of drum loops.

No input monitoring !
Lack of input monitoring makes it difficult to play along to recordings. There is no way of adjusting the line signal either if your using the iRig or Peavey input devices. The pre recorded drum loops are handy but the tempo is fixed and can't be changed to suit your song ; you can do this in the Sonoma four track app. One thing I do like is the count in feature but apart from that this app needs a lot more work to make it usable. For the price of a pint this gave me five minutes of entertainment then I deleted it. Cheers!.

Best app I have!
I bought a Tascam Portastudio 05 almost 20 years ago and this app does almost the same thing - without tape hiss! The app is very well designed and incredibly easy to use. I downloaded it yesterday and within a few minutes I had selected a drum loop to jam along to. Within an hour, I'd written a new song. Within 2 hours I'd uploaded it onto my Mac and imported it into Garageband. Now this is the beauty of the app, you can import the whole mixdown as one track or import the individual tracks to Garageband. This means you can play with the Fx for each track (in my case I added reverb, compression and a hint of echo on the vocals, as well as tweaking the reverb for the whole song). 2 hours and I did 90% of the work on my IPhone!!
There are some things I'd like to see in future versions: Pan features on each track, better method of scrolling through the song so that editing/dubs can be achieved more precisely, and I seemed to pick up the sound from other tracks when recording (I'm sure there is a fix for this through the use of a mixer). But this is really just nitpicking. If you want an app you can use anywhere for spontaneous musical ideas, this is the best app I've seen. Nanostudio is great, but this is unbelievably good value. I am really looking forward to discovering it's full potential.
One final note, the gear for all of this would have been at least £700 or £800 back in the day and this app cost £3.49!!!

Brilliant!
This app is superb. 15 years ago you'd have paid a good few hundred quid for what is on offer here. I for example mainly use a keyboard recorded through the iPhone mic. This gives very gives very good results. Anyway, great recording quality (I've yet to try it through a mixer which should be even better), no problem exporting. Did have a query and they answered it within 2 hours via email. And you really can't argue for the price (even with the recent increase), anyone who knows anything about recording music will know that. As for people moaning that 4 tracks aren't enough - with the import facility you can record 4 tracks, then import them as track 1. This frees up 3 tracks. Obviously you can separate the tracks again after bouncing down but as long ad you've mixed them well enough in the first place there's no problem. These guys always answer emails too, very helpful. I've recorded a few 12 track songs using this, can't recommend it highly enough.

Great app
This app is great and the recording and playback quality is surprisingly good. Really useful if you are in a band and want to hammer out ideas for new tunes. I will be using this one on a regular basis for sure. Not certain how it compares to other similar apps but for the price you can't go wrong.

Great recorder, poor exporter!
I love this app! It has everything I needed and more! I play mainly acoustic music, and the iPhone 4 built in mic records the tones perfectly, producing a rich deep sound! The reason for only 5 stars is that there is a problem with exporting your music through wifi link.
For me, the link crashes and the track never gets downloaded! It's a great idea to sync through wifi, but it would be better to transfer via USB to computer!
Please put this in the next update!!!!!!!!!

K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid
This is my general motto for life and this app does just that. Great for getting ideas down to share with band members quickly. Well worth the money. My one suggestion would be the ability to change the BPM in the drum tracks. Otherwise great app!

MUST READ B4 BUYING
I can only play the drums coz the other parts like green, red, yellow I think don't let me play it only says record. Thought this app would have guitar or bass built In it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This app is a WASTE of MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Superb!
Excellent app! However, as a musician I feel it would be better if there was more than three multi track recording options. At least 5 multi track recordings would provide a more extensive range of instrumental input. On the whole however, it's very good! I would urge the creators to develop an update that would facilitate at least my afore mentioned suggestion as this would benefit me, and all users of this app no end. A brilliant piece of work! Well worth the money!!

I have been looking for a tool like this for ages. I have owned both analogue and ditigal recording studios, but have always wanted something simple that when the mood takes you, you can just go without wires, etc. For the price you cannot go wrong. Download it!
Extras like compressing finished tracks down to one to allow more layers. Effects would also be great. However, to record spur of the moment ideas it is great.

What if?
First off: excellent app. Simple, effective, and a bargain portable 4 track. But wouldn't it be really cool if this was merged with pocket guitar and minisynth? A truly portable studio I'd pay more than a tenner for....

Octo pods a wee shasher
This is a great wee app and does want it says on the tin! Very easy to use and to get simple little ideas down for the rest of the band to have a listen. Well worth a couple of quid!!!
