This app has got to be the worst for search’s in the discover section. I set preferences to 5 & 10 miles distance and I’m always getting people 100s of miles away . If that gets sorted it could become one of the best. No I don’t even use it as a free app it’s so bad.

A Once Great App Now Worth Nothing At All
OKC used to be the best dating app out there but so much functionality has been stripped out or changed since Match Group took over that it is now almost useless. That might sound extreme but given that you cannot now even *browse* or *search* users I can stay with absolutle clarity that it is a waste of money. And it's more expensive than it used to be, so save your money and go to an app not owned by Match Group!

Full of fake profiles
Used to be one of the best dating apps, far more than a swipe left or right app. It’s been simplified and dumbed down presumably to grab a slice of the typical Tinder crowd users etc. Even more frustrating, many of the search options when selcected do not work. And there’s literally hundreds of fake users there - usually obvious as nothing is filled in exvept a snapchat or whatsapp address/number! About time OK Cupid started dealing with all these issues!

After checking out this app after a few years away, it has obviously been changed totally.
What was a brilliant platform, with great functions and only a few elements paywalled, is now the same as any other garbage platform. Instead of try to beat the competition they have just used their established reputation to join in with the same garbage. Anything that was unique and useful about the platform is now gone.

Worst Dating app to Exist
This dating app is genuinely one of the worst dating apps I’ve ever been on, especially if you are in the U.K.
9 out of 10 people are catfishes or scammers with the vast majority of the scammers using the same exact scams and still somehow they just let it carry on. Anybody who isn’t a scammer of catfish is usually 1000 miles away with no real chance of ever meeting them in person.
You receive a pitiful amount of likes for a free account, the whole app is a mess and not particularly enjoyable to use.
And on top of that, if you actually ever get through to a real person many of these people aren’t who they say they are. Now I don’t have anything against different genders on dating apps, but the sheer amount of people being deceitful and dishonest about their gender is also another thing that makes this app awful.
Through the what? 4 years I have had this app? I can’t give it anymore that a 1/10. Worst dating app ever, avoid at all costs and don’t waste your time.

Full of fake profiles, when I joined I got loads of likes within a few days, so I paid for membership to see them and they were all women from Kenya 🙄. I think there must only be about 30 British women on there, the rest are all in other countries. AVOID!!

But unfortunately there are far too many catfish and scammers on here.
It’s nice to see people who are a little bit ‘different’. But there are too many of the ‘run of the mill’ folk that turn out to be a scammer from a different country to that which they say.
It can be sorted by the website people very easily if they make it that everybody has to identify themselves via the camera via facial recognition and that the location can be automatically identified each time a member logs in.
This would prevent much of the scamming activity.
So, come on okcupid website people……time to catchup with modern technology and avoid being accused of being complicit in the blatant scamming that happens on your site.

Would give Zero stars if I could, absolutely awful excuse of a dating app!
Very first used this app in late 2018 and got a few matches with women around the uk. But eventually after meeting women who just suddenly stopped replying or made no effort back with me in building a potential relationship, and generally coming across people that were not right for me, left the app after like 3 months in early 2019 and started using other apps to meet women.
I decided to give this app one last chance in late 2021 to meet people, and my goodness it’s gotten exceptionally worse! Not only has the membership fee gone up, but after giving the app about a month, I got matches from women in foreign countries such as Thailand, Kenya, and other African or Asian countries. Not what I’m looking for at all especially if I’m living in the U.K!! A lot of other people who were not my type.
My personal opinion if you’re a genuine real guy looking to make genuine realistic beneficial connections look elsewhere!! Garbage app in my opinion just like tinder. Will never use again!

Best app to find likeminded people, but they are doing wrong improvements
Right now I’m using OkCupid since 2015, Tinder since 2017, Hinge since 2020 and Feeld since 2021, and by far OkCupid is the best in terms of matching with likewise people, even with the free version. I also used in the past Badoo, POF and few others that I even forgot their names.
I understand that OK Cupid is trying to be competitive by doing their best improving the app, but I think they did few wrong moves in it's life. If I was the one choosing what direction to take, I will remove the new & pointless feature “live cam chat” that I know was added to gain users, but it’s non sense for OkCupid app, as nothing has to do with dating as the objetive is to watch people with makeup doing nothing hoping to get money from the users.
Other feature I will implement back is the possibility of searching by country, right now there is a global search, but only shows people from some countries like US, Kenia, Argentina, Indonesia, Brazil and not many other countries, so bizarre. Let’s imagine that I’m planning to go to India in a month, the logically will be if I could search the users in that country, not the whole planet, that apart I know that doesn’t shows people from India in the global feature.
Then they had this amazing feature of “vaccinated” lol, I found so ridiculous. Yes please, tell me your health situation and then I will date you or not. Apart, that tag of “vaccines save lives”, that’s not true, I can think that is even the opposite, let’s see when the trials of the vaccines finish what will happen. BTW, they finishes on 2024 & 2025, so that means that aren’t vaccines, but experiments in trial stage. Good luck with that.
I hope OkCupid team will continuing promoting their app in different places, so there will be more users, and please, bring back the search for countries.

Decent app but…
Having tried a a few of the dating apps out of interest, this one is pretty good. Very few bugs and the UI is good. Not a fan of the live streams (just a lot of creepy, loser guys letching on women) but you can ignore those entirely.
Gripes? Not as many people as Tinder/Bumble/etc and a high proportion are women in the Far East which is just pointless! What makes it worse is they often pretend to be in your home city which should be a bannable offence IMO (as it’s catfishing).
My other biggest gripe is that OkCupid employs the same lame tactics to ‘encourage’ you to pay…. I did subscribe for a bit but as soon it ended I got a flurry of likes and notifications from the app about some of those lines. So predictable. 🙄

Ok, but could do better as my old school reports used to say. Like most dating sites the distance area to your postcode is naff. Clearly people nearer but it chooses to ‘hide’ them. Like within 15 miles I have 5 towns and many villages. Yet nobody shows after swiping left on one or two ( that often don’t match my settings either) -Highly unlikely!. You only have the option of ‘Liking’ or skipping. Would be helpful if there was a ‘maybe’ pile that could be formed. It’s free so better than most, unless you pay to see ‘likes’ which would save much time. Good luck, it’s a fickle online shopping world!

!!!!!Update!!! I came back to this site after ages and just like it was back when I first left a review it is exactly the same. So my previous review read…. Be better if you could actually see who liked you. It tell you you have likes then you look on your likes and there’s nothing there.

I’ve used most dating apps and all in all they all seem to be “a work in progress” and OkCupid is no different but this is the one I keep coming back to. There’s many things these apps can do to really revolutionise online dating but they all refuse to do so, the price constantly goes up with little to no changes to the app itself. They are still riddled with fake profiles, not even a slight attempt on profile verification like really OkCupid? That’s the most basic thing we can ask for, why will I part with my money to see all my matches are fake profiles? Not to mention people can lie about where they are from, you have a section of the app for users to find other users from around the world so why am I matching with people who claim to be from my location but are actually half a world away? Can we please stop this and keep it in that section of the app? The price is also a little ridiculous especially with the issues I’ve states plus more. Please show you actually care about your users and are not just a cash grab

OK Cupid let’s you see answers to many different questions, let’s you see the profile and all the pics of those you are interested in and once you match you can chat for free. That’s amazing compared to other sites. If you pay for premium you can see who likes you and some other functions as well. I’ve met some great people on here, some of whom I’m still in touch with.

As far as online ‘dating’ goes this is the one if you ask me. To get the most from it answer lots of questions- and you start to find it matches you with genuinely like minded people. And put some actual information on your profile!! From there on it is up to you to find matches and then message each other. But I find its a great place to start from. For all its classist, pseudo-feminist edge, it sure does hold its users in a great deal of disdain. Updated to add that it’s trying to charge me £100 for three months. This is disgusting. Also, I can’t use it without the song Polyamorous playing in my head.

Over run with scammers
First I would estimate 8/10 people who have contacted me are now scammers. They want to go to WhatsApp quite quickly where they start their nonsense about investing in bitcoins. It’s retarded but so many of them at it; some people must be failing for it. But ok Cupid are seemingly unable or unwilling to stop it. Tell tale sings. Only a few photos and Bare minimum profile.
Then there is ok Cupid. I purchased an upgrade recently. They double charged me but refused to refund it, said “they don’t do refunds”. Then I just noticed just now. They’ve just put through an order I did not authorise or even do when I wasn’t logged I . Which I’m now disputing with my credit card company.
I think a well deserved one star.

My recommendations and all the people I see are incredibly ugly and on top rude. I don’t know how OK Cupid thinks that me and them people are 95%+ rate match when I feel sick just looking at their pictures. Your matching algorithm is the worst compared to every dating site I used so far. Not to say that you have no regards for my preferences and decisions, I selected clearly no overweight people, guess how are the first people I swipe on the recommendations? And to make it even worse you got rid of the messaging feature before you match someone. I will not recommend you, was bad enough before but at least there were some decent people to speak with and able to see messages. But now there is not one single feature of this app to make me want to use it…

As non-premium members couldn’t see who had liked them many people preferred this. Premium members also loved this feature as it allowed them to message someone they liked right away and have that person know that they wanted to chat instead of being just a random swipe.
The intros have been removed and now the only way to message someone who hasn’t already liked you is to send a super like which you have to pay for even if you’re a premium member.
Money grubbing at the expense of the users. This app is just another typical “free” dating app now. One that has next to no benefits of being a premium member and is frustrating for non-premiums to use.

Disappointing but ok
The main crux of this is to intelligently match by answering questions. At a minimum 145>500. These are rated in importance to you personally. This is a good way of doing it, however my matches are mostly in London despite setting a distance limit. And from the photos a lot are clearly professionally taken photos. There are some more regular pics that you expect to see on a dating sight though.
Overall this is ok, but is limited by how many swipes left or right you can do each day which occurs on several similar sites, plus it is costly to see who’s liked you. If your willing to pay for greater functionality you may not notice much difference as there has been negative comments about members being genuine.
However I do recommend it if only to try it if your happy spending tens of minutes answering questions.

Enables individuality but misleading % match ratings
Pros:
- you can express your individuality in many different ways!
- it’s really useful to see some of your personal dealbreakers up front with the Q&A
- you can choose which & how many questions to answer (though it’s not immediately obvious that it’s possible to skip some)
- questions are multiple choice but you can write a qualifying remark if it’s not that clear cut
Cons:
- the algorithm giving you a ‘% match’ is misleading - eg it’s highly influenced by how many questions you’ve each answered (the fewer the more misleading) & doesn’t take into account your personal weighting (questions you’ve marked as more important to you)
- there seem to be bugs eg questions you’ve both answered the same end up in the ‘disagree’ section
- once you’ve sent someone an ‘intro’ you only ever see them again if they reply, even if you matched
- it doesn’t let you easily re-order your profile photos
- messaging is clunky (you can’t reply to specific messages)

Has potential
Has potential some of its features are amazing like having a lot of information on the profile so you know certain things before you even chat to someone (certain values, personality traits height etc etc ) there isn’t really many people on the app though to be honest you don’t really get too many messages / matches compared to getting a lot of messages and matches on other apps, if there were more active and attractive users this app would be the best one (if the swiping page was a tiny bit more like tinder, you can hardly see the photo on here.

Spam and bugs!
It’s an odd one. It seems great at first, but after setting all my preferences, I still get matched with contradicting profiles. As a result, I receive a lot of messages from random men who are on very different wavelengths which can get quite tedious.
The app will religiously inform me whenever someone likes my profile. I’m talking every 20 minutes regardless of my notification settings. This is incredibly aggravating because you can’t even see likes without paying a pretty penny. The more you spam, the less likely it is I’ll pay.
Finally, it has a lot of bugs. People will message or shoot me an intro, but I won’t be able to see this without closing and reopening the app. So a lot of the people mentioning that no one reaches out, it’s likely that they have and just can’t see it.
If it did what it said on the tin, I’m sure you’d find yourself an ideal match eventually. As it is, its been a great ego boost, but that’s about it.

Also a problem trying to delete the account
This has happened to me twice now. There is a design flaw here or a deliberate approach. Once you created your profile with your phone make sure you add also an email address and carve your password into a wall!
When you wish to delete your profile, it asks for our password - after several annoying attempts to keep you there, then for me, it says ‘does not recognise password’ even though IT IS CORRECT! Then you hit reset password.
It says an email link is sent. But none arrives as I didn’t put one in this time only my phone. Then hours of trying to get out of the app as it doesn’t let you ‘ go back’ on the interface once you’ve initiated you want delete it. This happens both on the app and desktop.
My account was always popular but I’ve noticed the choices of guys really have gone down hill. The app feels dead. No matter what location.
The price has gone up on OKC and annoying adverts. I suggest giving women free premiums for a time to try it, like Badoo does which is very very busy and lively.
Energy is everything and this app at the moment annoys so no one pays or is interested.
Fix the problem.

I’m new to this app. I like how it tries to get to know people, and let people try to get to know people with short questions.
It’s important to me where people were educated. I’d appreciate it if I can see that somewhere. I tried to raise this suggestion within the app, but didn’t find any feedback button. So adding a feedback/support where people can ask questions other than those provided button is my second suggestion.

Not great
It’s not an awful app but there are lots of weird people and fake profiles on here, it needs an authentication feature like bumble has. You can’t filter the search distance unless you want to pay so people from completely different counties were coming up, pretty much swept left on every profile on here because they were all too far. You can’t see who’s swiped on you unless you like them back which is really annoying. If you’re willing to pay then this app may be for you but for me it wasn’t good enough for me to spend my money on. On a positive note the questions are a good idea. I deleted after 1 day.

Great diversity of gender options but impossible to use
I have always valued OkCupid for being a bit more substantial than Tinder and Bumble but it seems like recent changes have sought to bring OkC down to their level.
As a queer person, I really appreciate the option to be able to search and be searched for specifically by other people with my identity - this feature is lacking in any other app or dating site.
However, I find this app impossible to use. I get emails telling me I have matched with people but then am not able to click through to message them. This might be locked under the premium version of the service, which unfortunately is an eyewatering £54 a month. I simply cannot believe anyone is paying that.

Very very disappointing
As a dating app you don’t seem to be in a hurry to be helpful to people trying to find someone to date, e.g. I’ve had close to 30 people for the past 3 months who the app says have liked me or at least my profile, but you never show who they are or put them into my feed ,so the chances of me ever finding out if any of these people are right for my are Slim and none , and we all know slims out of town 😡
i am on and I’ve been on a few other dating apps, but this is one I never have and would never recommend to anyone else .

Banned without explanation.
I paid the near £20 monthly fee to access the A-list features on this app. Within a matter of days I was banned without explanation at all.
When I composed an email asking them to explain their decision, I was simply sent the terms and conditions and expected to work it out for myself.
All of this aside, my experience of the app is that 99% of profiles on there are completely fake anyway. You get a very small percentage of positive responses due to the fact that clearly okcupid don’t do enough to ban fake profiles and spend more time banning real ones with no explanation. So if your idea of a good dating app is endlessly swiping with a relatively low hit rate then crack on.
Features that were included with A-list basic a couple years ago have now been capitalised on by asking you to pay even more for premium in order to receive the same features.
Oh and their very obvious virtue signalling in favour of certain radically left liberal political viewpoints boarders on insulting.

Appearing online when offline
It’s a better app than Tinder, plenty of fish, and badoo.. the problem I have is why users continue to appear online for an hour after they have logged off. It’s not good because if you are taking a while with replying I.e enjoying real life offline it looks as though you are online but not responding to messages which isn’t good when you are trying to build connections. If you want to convert your matches into real life love stories, help us by making status updates accurate.

Highly disappointing latest changes
As a free user, I didn’t expect magic but still managed to get a few matches when I just signed up, then - absolutely nothing in the last few months, even though I’ve done my share of ‘swiping right’ and commenting on people’s profiles.
Recently introduced changes are shockingly bad. Swipe left/right is no longer there. There’s no way to enlarge pictures so everyone is missing their eyes and tops of their heads (the app makes all your pictures square and simply crops top and bottom).
Left swipe has been replaced with a cross in the oddly inconvenient place that, when touched, results in a black full screen flash that seriously HURTS my eyes. We all say ‘no’ to many people and ‘yes’ to some, so those black (‘no’) screen flashes are eye-damaging. Did you fire your UX designers or what?

Not bad but unstable
I subscribed for a month. I liked it at first. Then I disconnected for few weeks and subscribed for another month again. I noticed few negatives: 1) I hope you make the app. only paid. Yes. Free subscription collects non-serious creepy people. Plz. if u care about quality and not only quantity, close free memberships. Only paid memberships should be allowed. 2) The quality of matches is much lower than before. 3) used to be able to bring a profile back if I passed it by mistake by shaking my mobile. This feature stopped working. It is IMPORTANT. 4) Chatting is so slow. 5) It would be good to be able to customise search (my ideal person) by job. Some ppl. really looking for matches working in certain fields. 6) The filter is not effective. For example, if I choose my ideal person to be of specific religion, I still get matches out if scope. Plz. make the app respect my scope to save me time and effort. 7) It would be better if I can specify which countries exactly I need to search from rather than distance. Currently, If want from anywhere except few countries which I am not interested in, and I know will cause me spam, how can you help me get out of this?

Ok App with some bugs
Overall I like this app more than the other swipe apps but it’s not without its cons
Pro:
- you can actually write more than just two sentences about yourself as opposed to some other apps
- lots of criterias you can choose from and personalize your matches
- you get to know something about the other person other than just how they look on their pics - if they fill out their profile
Cons:
- there are some bugs, eg it doesn’t reload fast enough, it won’t show me new messages unless I close and open the app, once I have looked at a few intros I have to reload as they just repeat
- lots of guys don’t message back. I usually give them a little while to message first or message straight away but most don’t reply.. 🤷🏻♀️
- still lots of guys that are only looking for a hookup but don’t say it but I suppose that can’t be helped
- there should be a function to say why you unmatched someone. I get messages from guys who matched with me just to say something inappropriate.

Profile Bans on POC
I was blocked after I responded to an aggressive man on the site who accused me of being a “man” and a bot when I responded to his question about my job title. I gave a vague answer stating “I work in my field.” He then became extremely angry and accused me of being a man and a bot. I responded asking him why he was so angry at a woman he’ll never meet and wished him healing on his obvious anger issues. OK Cupid then banned my account. I have reached out to them and gotten no response. I know of FIVE black women who have encountered similar treatment from men(who happen to be Caucasian) and when they respond to abusive messages to defend themselves, OKCupid instantly blocks these black women with NO repercussions for their aggressors...white males. This is very shameful and disappointing. Shame on you all at OKCupid. There’s no place in 2020 for racist attitudes.

Depth finally!
Over the past few days I downloaded near enough all the dating apps but they all lack depth. I like the large array of questions on this app and the fact that you can filter through the ridiculous amount of men faster by looking at their answers. The app does have some glitches and could definitely use some design and UX work but if you are actual serious about meeting someone and are willing to take the time to fill in your profile, you will get much higher quality matches than other apps.

Easily the worst dating app available
I downloaded this and 3 other dating apps at the same time, Tinder, Hinge and Bumble. I used the same pictures and profile information on all of them, I got a lot of matches and messages on the other 3 but absolutely nothing on OKCupid, not a single message or response.
That seemed pretty conclusive on its own but I decided to take it one step further and do more comprehensive testing, so I used an app to fake my location and spent a few days each in several major cities in the UK, USA and Canada. Eventually I was unable to keep up with the number of messages and matches I got on Bumble, Tinder and Hinge, but yet still not a single message, match or response on OKCupid.
I’m assuming this app has been abandoned by the developer? I say that as it looks like it was designed about 10 years ago as a school project and hasn’t been updated since, it’s ugly and clunky.
In summary this app is a waste of time, you’d be much better off trying one of the other 3 apps I mentioned, or any of the other dating apps available.

Slick but doesn’t work over 40s
Paid for 3 months membership. Answered the questions. Posted my best pics. Swiped right on profiles that I liked. Read their bios and our match stats. Wrote meaningful messages introducing myself. Wrote many messages. By the end of the 3 months I got fed-up and just sent one word openers. Why did I get fed-up? Because other than one girl who I suspect lived in America and enjoyed talking with British guys, I got zero responses. Nothing. Nada. Never mind any dates. On okcupid absolutely no one replied. That’s worse than any of the other dating apps. And for the money I paid what did I get? A gallery of obese ladies who said that they liked me. Depressing.

Deceitful
This app works similar to Tinder, however if you do not pay, you can only see who liked you or messaged you if you like them back. And they are not in a rush to present you with the people who liked you or messaged you. I will let the stats speak for themselves (sorry I’m just a geek like that). At a point in time when I had 214 likes (which I couldn’t see), I went through 50 profiles. Out of this, I liked 19 people and swiped left for 31 people - and that is because 99% of them mentioned “hook up” in their Looking For section. So.... I only got 2 mutual likes as a result of this process. It will take a decade to get a match or read a message. Unless you pay of course. In the interest of research, I swiped all of the next 50 profiles right and got 6 matches. So they only reveal about 10% of likes to you.
And for reference, this is a message from Okc: Anyone can reply to a message from another person; we won't stop you from getting to know someone.

Love the matching system, Hate the chat
OKC is definitely a winner with its endless variety of questions within the % matching system. However the chat (conversations) side of it continues to be slow, even non-responsive. On too many occasions, msgs have been slow to deliver or receive, which unfortunately resulted in a p**sed off & cancelled date! Unbelievable. The chat system is in dire need to update faster, to keep up with the likes of Hinge or Tinder for example. Saying that though, OKC’s matching system is what keeps me on it, due to the quality of people I meet on it. It’s just unfortunate that its core chat system fails enough to spoil potential relationships.

So far, so good
I’ve tried a few dating apps- this seems to be the best I’ve used so far (I’ve been on it a couple of weeks now). I’m a straight female looking for an LTR.
I paid for membership which seems pointless now: most other users don’t. They almost all request you send them a message, as they can’t see ‘likes’ (for which you have to pay the membership). Ho hum- lesson learned.
It’s set-up is very similar way to Tinder, ie swiping left or right. Difference is there are very detailed questions (hundreds of them!) which people answer. This gives you a pretty accurate impression of who they are & what they’re after. Generally, there seem to be fewer ‘hook-up’ type men and weirdos than on Tinder.
It is glitchy: I tried paying for boosts but they don’t work. I think you get the same effect from just updating your profile and/ or photos.
Overall I would recommend.

I just installed the latest version of the OKC app on my iPad, only to find that I was suddenly running the iPhone version. I thought there had been some sort of error, but no: the Support page says the iPad version has been discontinued!
Sorry, OKC, expanding the small phone-sized window to (nearly) full screen is not at all the same thing. Not even close.
Sadly, this appears to be another example of a once-decent site/app wrecked by arrogance, mismanagement, and complete disregard for users. Coming on top of all the other recent changes, none of them good, it clearly is time to delete this thing. Fortunately, there are plenty of other fish...

Ok as it says in its name
No bells and whistles here. Lots of non single people mixed in amongst the genuine seekers of more than casual ‘ hookups ‘ which is a lame, loathsome word which lowers the tone completely. Some profiles are very scant, others wax lyrical about trips to Timbuktu and their pictures are by mountains or exotic beaches. The site also proliferates with nasty semi nude selfies as do many others. So you will be swiping left more often than you’d like to avoid them. You can join me moderating from time to time. Men should work a little harder at making us want to see the real them. That means higher quality honest subtle pics, a thought or two before writing something crass and answering our questions if you start chatting. So yes OkC is ok, it’s safe if you follow its advice and lm staying the distance with it for now.

Why 2 starts
Every time I try and log in, it doesn’t work. It keeps saying not compatible with iOS 4, when my phone is the new update iOS 12. I don’t know why it keeps logging me out, I can’t get the messages I want to read as it just loads and then goes white. I have been talking to lovely guys for a while now and because it keeps logging me out, always says not compatible with iOS4 with my new iPhone 8 Plus which is iOS 12. I’ve lost dates with guys..... if this keeps happening I won’t be paying for the A list, I won’t be coming back to it. It’s getting pathetic now. I cannot use it. I have to to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the app just so I can log back in and get my messages. I don’t want to hand out my number or other social media for safe keeping. But it seems I have too just so I don’t miss out on nice people.

Great app but could be better
I love this app, I have tried others but this one has always been my go to. I haven’t had much success with it but I guess that’s just because I’m not easy to please rather than due to the app. The only thing I would say is though I miss being able to message people without having to match with them first. That’s what made this app different from all the others. I was having better luck before this new feature came in. Are you planning on bringing it back? As I’m sure many other people are experiencing a dip in activity because they can’t see who’s messaged them properly like my self.

A relief
Best app I’ve found for giving you real reasons to swipe yes or no. Love that I can get enough information from people to make a better choice before liking them and be confident from the percentage matching system that we may get on on some level. Will definitely be becoming an A Lister soon, but so relieved to find an app that doesn’t force that on you. Would be 5 stars if you also had anonymity about when you are on / offline as it is good to feel free to browse without upsetting a potential date - especially when you first start seeing how the app works. Not as good as it was..
This app is pretty good but I can’t help but feel like it was better before they updated it. It’s probably fine for girls but as a guy, it’s frustrating knowing that - unlike before where where all messages would automatically go straight to a person’s inbox - people probably won’t even know you’ve messaged them unless they come across your profile while actively searching for matches. Obviously, the previous set-up led to girls getting more messages than they could handle but at least they knew who had messaged and could go from there. I think a happy medium would be to limit each user to one ‘introductory’ message so that girls don’t get bombarded with multiple messages from guys they’re not keen on and guys still get to know their message will be seen.

Pretty good
For a free dating site OKC is impressive, in that you can communicate with people without paying any fee. You just have to send them actual messages rather than just likes. There’s a fair number of people active on there and the profiles are often thought through and amusing/helpful/decisive, and more frank and interesting than on Match. The questions are fun and actually helpful in discriminating who you would and wouldn’t fit with. The system has a few idiosyncrasies that can be irksome (eg you can’t say ‘maybe’, and if you swipe left you’ll not see them again or receive their message if they send one), but on the whole I’d definitely recommend it. I’m a straight woman and have previously been a paid up member on Guardian Soulmates and Match.

Comprehensive but dislike recent changes
I used to hate the open door policy, but the recent matching change before you can speak is worse. I used to have filters on my messages so I wouldn’t be continually bothered by mediocre profiles and matches less than 75%. The profiles are too comprehensive to swipe right and left on. It takes forever. On the plus side, if you do put in the effort, it results in better matches I think and Ok Cupid is very good at responding to messages and concerns, so it’s still probably my favourite. Most men still just wanna get laid, but that’s not the app’s fault.

My favourite singles ap
I've just returned after a few years and think it's now probably one of the best! The recent update has, in my opinion, completely transformed the usage, eliminating the unwanted contact from people who do not interest you. Thank you!! I still haven't found Mr Right, yet, but think the matching systems seem pretty accurate, as long as you've been honest. That said, there do seem to be some false profiles, but then surely they're everywhere! Incidentally, I haven't paid anything, so not sure why there are so many comments regarding this. I have paid on other sites for membership, with absolutely no return -or interesting people or matches- so you should try this! Finally, whilst I haven't found my soulmate, I have met and made some good friends here.

Not happy with new updates
The new messaging update where new messages only appear in your conversations if you’ve both ‘liked’ each other is a good idea in theory, but in practice does not work. According to OkC, the people who have messaged you are highlighted on the main screen so you can decide whether to ‘like’ them and start a conversation or not. Well my app is telling me that I have 12 unread messages, and yet I cannot find them anywhere.
Please either roll this feature back or have an ‘opt in/opt out’ option, as this is now making the app completely unusable for me. Again, it’s a good idea on paper, but you have over complicated a system that was fine as it was. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Poor customer service
I had a six month subscription to OkCupid. And during that subscription, OkCupid decided to remove one of the features that I had paid for, namely the ability to browse users invisibly.
Thus, I had paid for a feature that was now free to all.
I requested a pro rata refund (i.e. a gesture of goodwill that I shouldn't have had to pay for a feature that was no free to all) and initially was told I wasn't eligible. After several emails to the Apple Store pointing out that I had PAID FOR A FEATURE THAT WAS NOW FREE, I had the remainder of my subscription refunded and was no longer an A-list subscriber. Which wasn't what I requested.
OkCupid, if you're going to change what paying for A-list means halfway through a persons subscription, then you must be prepared to refund them the appropriate amount.
I have since looked at renewing my subscription, but with one of the main reasons for paying for A-list now being free, the subscription price hasn't gone down to reflect the change. You get less features for the same money.
It really does seem that, despite their claims that they only want to make things better for their users, OkCupid are cynical money-grabbers.

Great. But new changes, not so much
Always liked OkCupid, nice and easy to use. The only gripe I have is that the newly implemented "very well received in beta testing" No Visitor streamlining. I would prefer to be able to toggle on being able to see visitors at all times sooner than not.
Makes it easier if you want to view anonymously, but you could always do that anyway. Every other app or site enables you to see who's been checking your profile, except one of the best out there. Which means? The rest will follow suit soon enough.
