Really enjoy Eurosport on my mobile device watching anywhere,with a good signal. Shame service is changing and I won’t be able to watch on my Apple TV at home in the future. Especially considering I pay direct to Eurosport and not through the App Store.

Very happy with Eurosport

They have extensive coverage of the things I'm interested in, ( road & cross cycling, alpine skiing & other winter sports, occasionally watch superbikes, triathlon) , good knowledgable commentary & great value (I cast Eurosport Player on iphone7 or iPad to Chromecast) occasionally watch on laptop). Newer versions of the app are hugely improved. There used to be annoying issues with casting (like it was missing!) and subscriptions but it seems pretty solid now.

Better than the other Eurosport app

For finding and watching live and replaying events then this app is much better than their other app that mixes in news and video clips. Wish it would allow scheduling notifications for the events I want to watch. Still I can use this on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV (HD/4K).

Terrible

Wow the negative reviews go back years, yet Eurosport still hasn’t improved. Why on Earth are we forced to use such utter rubbish - why can’t more sports be televised.

I gave this the benefit of the doubt as I was desperate to watch the tennis but the app is terrible. It won’t even log me in so having an account is useless. Customer service is a complete let down as well, just generic responses.

Absolutely rubbish

Completely lazy developers if there are any. For years thing’s relating toe EPG, catch up etc haven’t changed or improved in the slightest!!!

Does anyone within Eurosport actually use this junk. The EPG is hopeless to navigate, you often have to switch between seemingly same channels but have to try another without advertising for the race you want to watch. There’s so much wrong it would waste an afternoon to mention the list of awful errors and awfully messy layout. For years I thought it was me but everyone I deal to about this app say it’s a nightmare to use.

Program on demand is a farce. It’s not on demand but a replay with advertising starting at a given time. You can’t watch an earlier recording off Eurosport when you want or are ready, instead you’re given a choice-take it or leave it. As a comparison of watchability It’s about 10% as good as BBC iPlayer!

I follow cycling and the commentators are mostly brilliant but it really shows Eurosport just talk over a live feed TV. C4 Tour du France has advertising but it’s coverage and production far better.

Basically people need replacing in many complacent and lax Eurosport departments!!

Good but recent issues

This app is brilliant but recently it’s struggled to Airplay the cycling coverage to my TV . When the TV takes over the streaming it’s always buffering and freezing . I’ve got 100mbs connection , no idea why this is happening and it would be 5 * if this issue resolves itself .

OK on iPad poor on Apple TV

The app is fine on my iPad, programmes load quickly and the quality is good. Where it falls down is when I want to watch on my TV via my Apple TV. Programmes can take over 120 seconds to load, with no indication that you are going to have something to watch other than a spinning blue spiral.

Take all the bandwidth when streaming

I saw that the app is taking most of my bandwidth, creating buffering issues to other IPTV we are using simultaneously. The same doesn’t happen with other tv stream app. Could you please review if you have got anything to fix with the above point ?

The worst value for money subscription you can purchase

Along with many of the other reviews I’m stuck with this rubbish so I can follow cycling. The only app I’m forced to use that doesn’t function more often than it does. Schedules that don’t update, constant content errors, having to force close and reopen the app anywhere from 4-10 times to get a stream to actually load. If a stream finishes and you close the app, the next time you open it the app will be stuck in the old stream without anyway of closing the blank video window. The first app that is so truly truly awful I’ve written a review.

If I could give it zero stars I would.

Content will not load

One year in and the freaking app doesn’t refresh itself.. this is so idiotic.

You want to watch the live programme? Sure, kill the app and restart it as every time I open the app sure enough yesterday’s programme will be shown as “Live” and you are taken to an old programme. Reason alone to cancel my subscription.

Seems to have got worse over the years

Truly awful experience watching the app via Apple TV, i frequently have to log out and log back in to update the ‘Schedule’. It constantly freezes and jumps when trying to scroll through the day’s schedule menu and it’s the only streaming app i have that causes me problems so it’s nothing to do with my set up. I only watch it for Alpine Skiing and Eurosport’s coverage of that is bad enough without adding insult to injury with this terrible app!

Awful new user experience

Signed up on the Disc+ website and the content doesn’t stream. Won’t load.

I download this app, try sign in with the same details per the site and it won’t sign me in. Try to reset password and that journey doesn’t work either.

Poor on Apple TV

This app works well on iPhone and IPad.

On Apple TV, if you put the Apple TV to sleep. After leaving this app. When you reopen the app, it doesn't refresh, so the options are what you had the previous time. So you have to restart the Apple TV.

Lets the side down

As a long time fan of Eurosport coverage, I’m compelled to write a damning review. The online service including App really lets the side down.:

• Home is a waste of space - never updates even when forcing a refresh, so you are always seeing pld content. On the subject of old content - Home is clogged with old footage of events from last year.

• Instability - whilst it has improved in the last couple of years, that only serves to show bad it was. It is by far the sketchiest streaming service I use….. Constant error messages; Airplay dropouts; coverage finally starting after live events are already underway.

• Support- non existent, don’t waste your time writing.

• On Demand and Sports sections - the same archive of old content. Wasted Nav.

• When signal is lost out and about (i want to listen to coverage as I run) rather than simply restarting the app falls over and i have to do a full restart. Again, only streaming service that can’t seem to do the basics right.

All of the above relates to the App on IOS, but the same goes for Apple TV, Macbook and TV apps on Samsung and Sony.

If only there was another option

Eurosport/Discovery has relied on the fact that they are the only option for full coverage of winter sports in the UK. This means they keep presenting sub-standard programming and you have no option but to pay for these offerings if you want to watch your favourite sports and athletes. When you contact them about this, you just might get a response 1-2 weeks later.

If someone knows of another way, please let me know as I don’t want to keep wasting my money!

Various niggles

The Live TV channel listing often is out of sync with reality. The TV Schedule is often more correct. Very annoying that the standard behaviour of showing battery status, time and wifi signal strength is not adhered to. Often seems to get stuck at a very low, unacceptable image quality and refresh rate. Need to select channel again to make it reconsider bitrate. Seems their servers weren't working for a whole evening. Perhaps not prioritising streaming? The TV schedule never seems to show anything beyond one week. I like: often two streams, one with commentating, and one without commentators, are available. Also like that it sends 50Hz stream to my now 50Hz capable Chrome stick! (Google stupidly buried the "dangerous" 50Hz option in settings -off by default! Look for it!) Sport with the wrong refresh rate is just awful and unwatchable.

And now, much later in 2021, I see no way to refresh the main page with live events, other than to kill and restart the app.

Could be so much better

Hmm. I wrote a review a couple of months ago and it seems to have disappeared.

Anyway, just about the only sport I’ll pay to watch on TV is snooker. Typically there’ll be, say, four tables on the go but commentary on only one - the rest just have ambient sound. Trouble is, Eurosport will show coverage of the “main” table with commentary on one channel and one without, plus the other three. It takes ages to find the match they’ve chosen to provide commentary on. Why not show in the heading which is which? How hard can that be?

By far the worst feature of the app, though, is that it constantly stutters, pauses and buffers, particularly in the evening. There is nothing wrong with my WiFi; I can watch iPlayer, YouTube, Netflix etc no problem, but Eurosport is unique in being the only app I know which is virtually unwatchable. I have highlighted this at least twice in the past, and doubtless there are many others similarly inconvenienced. I’ll pay a one-off monthly sub maybe 2 or 3 times a year and each time I think surely they’ll have put it right by now, but here we are in December 2021 and no improvement, indeed not even an acknowledgement that they have a problem, much less - perish the thought - an apology. I won’t be renewing again.

Broken. App has no home page and when I click on the sports tab, there is a very limited number of sports, which then says it can’t open. A days’ worth of racing on today which I can’t watch now. When you pay for a service you expect what was offered, not a broken app meaning you can’t actually get what you’re paying for. Sort it out Eurosport.

Great App

Very pleased with this app. No problems with playback via Ethernet on Apple TV.

Someone moaned about auto renewal but that is their error for not being observant when signing up. I took an offer and once it was activated I cancelled straight away so no auto renewal.

I do have Eurosport on Sky but I prefer the app.

Signed up for a year when Eurosport disappeared from bt sport, it’s came back to bt sport within the year but Eurosport caught me out with an automatic renewal for another year. Took quite a while to fathom how to cancel this auto renewal - don’t touch app with a barge pole.

Constant error messages

Constant error messages across all video content. On mobile, desktop, iPad, both red and black Eurosport apps (why are there 2?). I signed up for month to watch the olympics and content works about 20% of the time. I will shortly be asking for a refund if I cannot watch the games.

The app itself is ok and easy to use.

Disappointed in the Olympic coverage, the feeds have been without commentary, or with another sports commentary. This is both on live and replay videos.

Also disappointed in daily round up as it has too much talking and very few gbr athletes on.

Awful app, website is no better. Browsing experience is from 1996, content is difficult to find, categories are a mess. Sound doesn’t always work in the app and randomly ‘content is not available in your country’, two minutes later it’s available with no change on my device?

Awful, subscribed to watch Superbikes, I’d rather go without, working with the player and website have sucked the life out of my enjoyment.

Very poor for watching the Olympics

Bought a month just because it was the only way to watch all the events at the Olympics. There is only commentary on their main two channels - everything else is just the noise of the venues. This is preferable for some sports but it’s good to hear commentary on events I’m not familiar with to better understand the rules etc.

There’s also no Picture in Picture mode so I can’t watch something and also do something else. I can’t even minimise the window while I browse other events. I have to stop watching just to see what else is on. Wouldn’t be an issue if there was a PS5 app…

Lastly, it’s really difficult to tell what sports are on. The video titles just say the event name (e.g. “Men’s Qualifying Round” and the competitors’ names but not the actual sport. The only way to know is by looking at a tiny icon in the corner. The icons are based on the official pictograms but are based on Eurosport’s branding so are different enough to be confusing. Even knowing what the sport is it’s really difficult to work out what some of the pictograms represent (the swimming one, for example, is AWFUL).

Poorly optimised app

I only use it for the cycling but I enjoy the content. Unfortunately the app is glitchy, crashes a lot, and is very slow loading videos with loads of buffering (not my connection as I check on Speedtest and then watched the rest of the cycling on itv player with no problems).

Also why can’t you start a live program from the beginning like every other streaming app can now?

If you can sort the iPhone app experience out it would be 4.5 stars.

Continue Watching

Very good app but there doesn’t appear to be a continue watching section from what I can see. On other streaming apps it is relatively easy to continue watching recently partial watched programmes. But on Eurosport player you have to go searching for the programme again rather than it being on the Home Screen. Am I missing something ??

Also can you link up with Apple TV so that it appears in there Up Next section like many other streaming apps which would make this a 5 star app from my perspective and I would hope many others.

Sub par

This app seems to get worse over time on iPad. Trying to watch the French open, I was struck by the number of bugs that require closing and reopening the app. When new matches start, the list of matches can’t always update even when dragging to refresh. Occasionally, the stream can’t be played - pressing the video does nothing. Meanwhile, on Apple TV the video quality appears poor compared to the competition. It gets the job done, but is a frustrating experience.

Getting worse

I never used to have any problems with the app but recently it doesn’t work well for me. I play the app through a chrome cast and it constantly buffers for long periods making it unwatchable. Skipping forward or back 15seconds takes so long you might as well not bother. When scrubbing on your phone it takes a long time for this to materialise on the tv. The app works fine when not playing through the chrome cast and works well. I have tried a factory reset on the chrome cast and reinstalling the app but it doesn’t improve the situation.

Update: I updated to 8.11.2 and the problems persist.

Eurosport cross country skiing and biathlon

I absolutely love that I can access a good value service to watch sports that the typical British public is not interested in so 10/10 for Eurosport. My one complaint is that the editing and commentary leaves a bit to be desired. For example the commentators regularly talk over athlete interviews or the canned music does not stop to allow us to hear the interviews. The different viewable versions of the action (highlights/ad free/normal) are very good indeed.

Eurosport ups and downs

I have not paid for television for many years. Now I have paid for one mo th of Eurosport just to get the cycling.

Their coverage of the Giro is excellent. Bastogne Liege has no highlights that I can find and spending 3 hours or more to watch the whole race is asking a lot. Now I find that the giro is on quest on freeview which makes me wonder if I have wasted my money. But it is only sev ex n quid and I can watch it easy and it is good quality so, ok.

50fps amazing

I use this as I have recently got rid of Sky and was pleasantly surprised that it had been updated so the picture quality is now 50fps using Chromecast. Hurrah! Picture quality is spot on. Only one small gripe that won’t give it less stars. Is there any chance you can put the Eurosport Player app on Roku devices pretty please with sugar on?

No longer working

I am now unable to use this app on my Xbox or iPhone, none of the content plays, on my Xbox it says network connection lost and on my iPhone the app just freezes. I’ve been waiting months for motorcycle racing to resume and now can’t even watch it.

When you finally get around to fixing it, how about fixing the replay section, why do I have to wait hours or sometimes days to replay a race that I missed when it was live, how hard is it to have the races available to replay as soon as they have finished.

Sort it out, £40 a year just for access to an app that doesn’t even work and was very poorly supported even when it was working.

All sports

Please do not include women to commentate on men’s events. Even though women may have played the female equivalent of a sport, they do not have the same insight into the men’s version. Including women commentators for the sake of so-called political correctness does nothing for the credibility of women generally. I am female so cannot be accused of being sexist and I have to say that the female version of any sport is, in my opinion, always a weaker one. I love all sports, but I cannot watch the female versions of most of them.

Problems ignored

The app now works fine with Apple TV. However, when the makeover app was first released last year, Apple TV support mysteriously disappeared. Logging this with the support team resulted in very confusing messages - and no improvement in functionality. Eventually I gave up and took a Sky subscription! On checking the app again recently, I find that Apple TV support has magically reappeared! The lack of clarity and comma around this software design debacle was worse than the problem itself in the end. I only continue to support the app because as a company, Eurosport provide such good coverage of so many sports, for example my favourites, cycling and skiing. PLEASE thoroughly test any future app upgrades BEFORE release. I’ve worked on that type of project before and for a modest fee will happily consult with your developers and project manager!

Good sport bad app

I’ve had this app for a few years now, the sport Eurosport shows is great (could do with a bit more maybe a 3rd channel) but the app is very hit and miss.

Every so often when it’s updated they remove features like now, AirPlay is now missing meaning I can’t stream the on demand coverage of the tour de ski, it use to work a few versions ago...

Also I know you adjust the tv schedule to match what’s on like extending coverage if there are delays but you could do with updating the on demand to reflect this rather than cutting off the end of a program ( like in a neck and neck fight for the finish line for the coverage to stop with 200m to go!)

Hope you fix the AirPlay soon and the on demand

I downloaded the app for British and World Superbikes but found the content and format messy and inconsistent.....so, I uninstalled the app and cancelled my subscription through my iTunes account ....or so I believed. They still continued to take monthly payments even after repeated emails to their “customer service” asking them to stop, all of which were never replied to!!....even phone calls to my bank AND to Paypal to attempt to stop the payments which I thought would definitely solve the problem did not work. I was paying via PayPal from my debit card and only after ordering a replacement card with a new number did payments eventually stop! However, I STILL receive emails from a no reply Eurosport account saying that they have attempted to take payment but the payment method has failed!! I will never use Eurosport again!! Unbelievable!!

Zero, not 1

I recommend the introduction of zero mark because one that I give does not faithfully expresses my bewilderment with this player. I tried to watch it during AO but it was so inconvenient and confusing that I eventually gave up although the player is still there. I’ve never seen worse app in my life. OK, I wanted to watch tennis; sets are recorded and presented in a strange chronological order titled “parts”! So, each set is presented as a part with an abrupt end without any warning or logic and with the message: “this programme is not available; contact your provider”, which in fact has nothing to do with the provider but you just need to realise that you somehow have to find a second part! Another annoying feature is that no commentary is provided during the recordings. I am very sorry for taking much space to express my frustration and I never actually comment, especially not in a negative way any app, but this player is just laughable. It’s worse than simply “waste of money”.

Crashes loads

I’m using this with my Chromecast, and it constantly crashes – today I’ve been watching for an hour and a half and it’s kicked me off five times. I have to close the app then restart it and then it works fine for 15 minutes or so.

I also have to cast it twice every time, as the first time I connect, without fail, the picture has a weird shadowy thing at the bottom. When I stop casting then restart it’s fine (until it crashes of course).

I don’t have this problem casting any other streaming services. Luckily I only signed up to watch the Australian Open tennis, so I’ll be cancelling as soon as that’s finished, thank god.

Absolute Rubbish

The app has always been poor in my opinion, navigating the app is not easy and the schedule is unreliable but as a fan of Superbikes I have continued to use it.

A while ago the ability to lock the screen or minimise the app on an iOS device during airplay was removed, I tried to cancel the auto renew subscription but Eurosport make it almost impossible to do this.

Having recently received an email that my subscription has auto renewed again and my payment taken from my account I decided to check that everything was working ok in preparation for the upcoming Superbike season only to find that Eurosport have now removed the ability to airplay at all! WHAT??

No reduction in the subscription cost to reflect the loss of this feature, no notification that this feature had been removed before taking my money and to top it off they still tell you in the app information that you can airplay to Apple TV which is giving incorrect information to potential new subscribers!!

If this was a small business operating like this then some sort of professional body would be investigating them for unfair trading but because it’s a big company they get away with it.

Amazing Improvement! Excellent App.

I gave a scathing review of the previous version of this app. The current version is as different as it could ever be!

This version has faithfully remembered my login details; the programme captions match the content; the internet connection is stable; the picture and sound quality are both very good and properly synchronised. Above all, there are no intrusive adverts popping up when you are busy choosing what to watch.

What an amazing overall improvement! For me, the only feature missing, which was available in much earlier versions, is the ability to cast to more than device at the same time.

Unfortunately, the cost of the programming content has escalated alarmingly over the last few years and Sky continues to serve up adverts as part of that content, even though this is a paid-for service. This aspect is, of course, outside the control of the developers, who have made a brilliant job of this version.

This latest update is nothing short of rubbish. No AirPlay via iOS, virtually unwatchatchable via fire tv. Saying 'we are aware some customers...' isn’t good enough. What’s happened is in an effort to fix something that wasn’t broken you’ve omitted key functionality making the experience worse not better. In this day and age that is a failure in my books and I’m left questioning how robust testing was prior to release. Junk

Just Gets Worse and Worse

So the latest update replaces the layout with one that’s no where near as easy to navigate. Worse still, they have removed the ability to Airplay from within the app (why???) and Chromecast now has terrible audio/visual sync issues with audio drifting and lagging behind the video. For a subscription service that could hardly be called cheap it’s remarkable that they continue to provide a streaming service and app that’s so much worse than just about all the free-to-air streaming services. They desperately need to employ a QA team and get to the bottom of all the issues with the app and streaming service instead of expecting the paying punters to do all the beta testing for them.

Updates always lead to tears

Latest app update on 8th October requires ios11 or higher. IMy iPad only has ios10.3, so I'm stuffed but why was there no communication prior to app launch - at least give your customers some warning.

I can however update the app on my phone.......except you've buggered that up too because I subscribe via iTunes and the 'restore purchase' link doesn't actually work.

I've had enough, I'm off to cancel. Shame I like the cycling with Carlton, Declan and the others but I can't stand it anymore.

The On Demand Service Is Terrible!

Overall the Eurosport player is quite a good app which I use mainly to watch snooker. The on demand service is pretty bad though. I wanted to watch the Shanghai Masters final from the beginning, there was 3 different videos with commentary to select from the final, one was from the very start of the final, one was at the beginning of frame 2 and the other one was at the start of frame 11. None of the videos are titled so you don’t know which one is which! I selected one of the videos and it was the start of the 11th frame. I wanted to watch it from the start without knowing the scores! Why on earth can’t the videos on demand be labelled properly? For example ‘Shanghai Masters Final, Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3?

Testers?

No idea if you have any testers or if it’s just being tested by us which is very poor customer service but this apps’ usability is very poor. I thought the poor reviews I’d seen here might be a bit harsh but they’re right, it’s very poor. On Demand - choose a programme to watch and it’s part way through the last show. Scrubbing to where you want to get to e.g. the footage you want to see, reacts poorly. There’s no way you can tell from the progress bar where you’ve scrubbed to. The On Demand shows for an event only have the event title the date and the length of the show not whether there’s commentators or commentary free footage of which there’s both available. Although you know what you want to watch, you never know what you are going to watch until you’ve tried the shows. Don’t bother telling me you are anxious to provide a great app, because if you were you’d either fire the testers you’ve got and get some new ones, or you’d bring some in.

Started off great but went downhill

I have watched Eurosport on TV for years. This year for the Tour de France I downloaded the app to watch on my iPad in the background while I was working, around the house etc. It worked fine for the first 9 days of the tour but then suddenly stopped working! Despite reinstalling many times, rebooting the iPad, all I get is the welcome screen and a spinning circle. No option to click on any shows, don’t even get that far!! Raised a support case and 5 days later it isn’t fixed and le tour is almost over. Very disappointing. Thank god for ITV and GCN show end of day updates is all I can say!! Also, why can’t I have an English language option while watching in france? I can either watch French tv coverage, or just race coverage with no commentary. I’d really like to be able to choose English tv coverage despite watching in france.

Stupid Ads

I’ve been trying to watch the cycling today and have been forced to watch the same ad 7 times, for muscle joint cream, every time I change channel, or check back after watching the cricket. Infuriating, and would be so, even if I actually needed muscle joint cream. Other pay for subscription services aren’t as dumb as this.

If I’ve seen it once, I don’t need to watch it again. It destroys the Eurosport brand, and the brand advertised.

Excellent value for money

I have re-subscribed to this again to catch the African Cup of Nations, having not renewed my annual sub from 2017. The picture quality has certainly improved and is now on a par with the BT Sport app when using Chromecast. The quality is equally good either when casting one of the live channels, one of the many extra feeds or even watching something on catch up.

Very disappointing experience

Unfortunately this is genuinely the worst app I have! The only reason I use it is because it’s my only choice to be able to watch the cycling that only Eurosport cover. Almost every time I use the app I have an issue, too many to list here but some examples below:

Tonight I was watching the Giro highlights live. I paused it for typical child interruption but when I unpaused it, it would only continue with the live broadcast, not from where I had paused it. I gave up and figured I’d just watch it on demand later, which of course doesn’t work until after the live program has finished (which seems to be an unnecessary restriction)

So later I tried to watch the Giro on demand but each time it’s played me the advert and then show the live women’s cycling rather than the Giro catchup program I selected.

On other occasions, I’ve chosen a program to watch on demand but found that the first 30 mins is the previous program that was on which I need to skip over to find the beginning of what I really want to see. Much worse than this, my program then cuts off 5 minutes before the end missing the vital finish!

Top this with poor labelling which tells me I’m watching one program when I’m actually watching something else, it’s just a very disappointing and frustrating user experience. 😕

Appalling On Demand content editing means you will not see the finish!

I’ve been using Eurosport Players for years to watch the cycling and can sadly confirm that the On Demand content is still autobot edited so it will finish before the finish line.

Again the Giro highlights have been hit by no quality control by Eurosport on its edits.

I’ve watched a number of events this year on Eurosport Player and have had to go to other services to see the finish of an event. The On Demand streams are timed to a maximum though this doesn’t take into account that you will have 45mins of another event to fast forward through first to get to what you want to watch - only to find that the finish is cut off! Amateur, cost saving attempt at online streaming by Eurosport that has never been addressed by them.

Too many glitches, but when working is great

I’ve had this app since Eurosport charged a very decent £2.99 per month. Now it’s more than doubled in price, it’s reliability is patchy at times. I’ve had numerous problems with casting to Chromecast, the latest of which was that it just would not play a ‘live’ channel - it connected, then froze straight away, which is nice if you want to watch a still image of Romain Bardet, but not if you want to watch an actual cycle race! It did work with ‘on demand’ replays, but not a live broadcast. Come on Eurosport - if you more than double the cost, you need to step up with the quality!

EDIT - the live streams seem to have sorted themselves out thankfully, just in time for the Giro! The app is now working as it should, and therefore my rating has improved.

Ruined by forced adverts!

It’s impossible to switch between the additional live channels without being forced to watch a long 1 min advert each time you change channel. To watch any of the additional channels, you’re forced to watch this ad. Close the app and you’re forced to watch the advert again. Switch away from one channel and immediately back to the additional channel and you’re forced to watch the ad. It’s painful.

With these forced adverts, the 2020 Olympics on Eurosport Player is going to be an absolute disaster. With streams for all sports, you need to be able to immediately switch channels to view events. A forced advert isn’t acceptable... certainly not for a paid app. I’ve missed the start of WTCR races because if these forced adverts. Please remove them.

Unskippable ads are really annoying when they appear every 5 seconds

I don't mind ads on a subscription service if they are reasonable. But when I go to replay I am shown an unskippable ad every time. This would be ok if the things I want to watch were not mislabeled. And it is never clear whether the thing I want to watch as the right commentary or not . So I get an annoying mattress commercial about 5 times even if I only watched 3 seconds of a program to discover that it is the wrong one . This is so disruptive to my experience that im getting this app just one star. I will be cancelling my subscription at the end of the month.

This has such an easy solution: only show an ad every so often and of course label your programs consistently.

Annoying ads even for subscribers

I do not know when they began to introduce ads that last about 30 seconds every single time I choose a signal that is not Eurosport 1 or 2 in this app. I do not like it that I pay for the subscription and turns out I have to endure those long and repetitive Virgin Atlantic advertisements. This becomes extremely annoying when following different snooker matches at the same time, and I want to have a peak to see the scoreline at another table. Every time I switch the signal, the ad is played, with 30 seconds wasted, and I think you know that in sports matches, every second is important. I do not think this is acceptable for the users that pay for subscriptions.

Needs improvement on Apple TV

I generally love Eurosport player and use it on my phone quite a lot to follow cycling and have never had a problem on iPhone or iPad. If only I could say the same for Apple TV, I regularly have to delete the app and reload it as I keep getting errors that stop me watching. Usually it say internet connection not available, when I can still use other apps, some times it just says there is an error. Sort this problem out and it’s 5 stars

Too many adds, no way to cancel service

I signed up for a 7 day trial, and decided to cancel because they show adverts continuously including in the middle of races, which I won’t accept for a subscription service.

However there is no way to cancel. The FAQ links to a cancellation page which does not exist. It’s hard to find out how to login on their web site and once you do it won’t help because there’s no cancel button / menu item / link. If you email the address they send you for support when you sign up you get an email back saying the address is not monitored and directing you to a web form. And when you fill in the web form you get no response.

Avoid like the plague.

Schedule alerts/alarms/notifications

It would be really good if you could build an alert button into the Schedule list.

For example, in the morning, I scroll through the days Schedule. I see Milan - San Remo is on. I tap it to see the detail that it is actually this years coverage ( and not a replay of last year🙄) and then there is the ALERT button that if I press it will schedule my device to notify me the program is about to start.

Poor Interface

Great picture in HD and streams well.

Main interface menu system has large picture icons and a simpler schedule would be much easier to navigate to find what’s on, what’s on next and pre-recorded shows available.

On the TV version, before you watch any showing you are forced to watch a Eurosport ad and if there is a streaming blip and any reason to return the the menu,again the same ad. Annoying. Eurosport, we know who you are, we subscribed, so please get rid of this advertising.

Live screens incorrectly titled

Being able to select the screen I want to watch the Australian Open tennis is difficult. It requires you to tap on each window to find out who’s playing. You have to do this because the labels of the content are not accurate. This also means when you’ve put one screen on life you can’t tell which one it is that live. It’s just irritating but it means that a good match can be on but you don’t know.

Not worth the money

This is by far the worst app I have ever bought! If you are just using it to watch the two channels E1 + E2 or any live program (like the multiple court option during the Australian open) that’s fine. But, for Tennis, if you want to watch on demand or any highlights you are absolutely screwed! The only option you have is what was shown on each channel or maybe Court, but that’s it. There is no option anymore to select specific matches- you will have to scroll through the WHOLE time they broadcasted it and check for yourself. If you are lucky enough to actually get a description for what you want to watch, a title, then that’s most likely not the correct one!

So really it’s just massively annoying and I would have rated it 0 stars if I could, because the live program I can watch on my tv at home! This app is useless for what I intended it to use.

Great when it works...

..but most of the time it doesn’t, which is very frustrating.

My wife and I don’t often look at sport, which makes it all the more annoying that on the odd occasion that we do want to (such as today’s figure skating) there seems to be a problem of one sort or another.

I raised the issue of the missing Chromecast button with Eurosport Support as long ago as June 2017 but all I got was a generic response which didn’t help one jot, although I now see that other contributors are saying that this was simply ‘left out’.

Either way I thought the issue had been resolved, but I now find it’s gone again, meaning that my wife can’t watch the skating on the TV as she would have liked and rendering my subscription pretty pointless.

There seem to be very few recent reviews for this app - perhaps because potential purchases have been put-off by consistently poor ratings and an overall score of 1.6 out of five - but as one would think Player is (or could be) a meaningful part of Eurosport’s business you’d have thought they would make more of an effort to improve its reliability.

Not good enough

Constantly freezes. Cannot be run in the background to put video out to Apple TV while web surfing. And today it will not work at all despite reinstall. Should be better for a subscription service.

Update on 24 October 2017- this paid-for service continues to provide unacceptable levels of functionality and service. Today I cannot view anything at all despite being fully up to date with payment. No option to raise problems with the company. Totally unacceptable and now planning to cancel my subscription- this constant annoyance is very bad for my state of mind.

Unbelievably appalling

All I wanted to do was to watch my brother race in the European elite cycling championships. First, after paying the monthly subscription fee the player wouldn’t load on my computer. At all. Then after faffing about trying to get it to work on my phone the video kept cutting off. I got to watch the first lap and that was it. This was honestly the worst app I have ever downloaded and I am absolutely fuming as I didn’t get to watch my brother. I had to get my friend to tell me what had happened during the race. Fuming does not even cover it. I think it’s daylight robbery to charge people to use an app that doesn’t even work. No wonder they don’t offer a free trial. They wouldn’t make any money because people would see what a shambles the app is. Subscription cancelled and app deleted. Waste of time money and effort.

Brilliant App.

Yes it wasn't the smoothest implementation of the latest update. I nearly cancelled my subscription, but I thought I'd give the support team a chance to sort it out.....and they did. Was very impressed with the communication l received from customer support during what must be hectic time for them.

Anyway, l find the app now is very easy to use on iPad, Chromebook, Chrome browser on windows 10, and with Chromecast. Would not want to go back to the previous version now. 👍

Terrible

As covered by many other reviewers, this app is terrible especially when you consider how much we pay to subscribe. Gps location blocks you when you go on holiday or abroad with work. The 2 hour rewind to live to has been reduced to 5 minutes meaning you 'have' to watch live because if you make a cup of tea then you will miss something and can't rewind far enough to recover. If you wait for the re-run on demand episode you will also be met with glitchy freezing on rewind or fast forward that makes you give up trying. Although it seems very reliable finding the advert breaks and playing them without fault.

I try to use this with iPad, iPhone, windows tablet and windows based PC with 70mbit broadband. Same result. Terrible and honestly unacceptable.

Was a good app!

Now, when I try to open the app, it tells me a new version is available, and won't go any further. Fair enough: I follow the link to update it, but there's no option to download the new version. The only "option" is Open. So round I go in circles!

I tried uninstalling the app, but when I try to reinstall, I'm told the latest version needs a more recent version of iOS, so would I like to install the last compatible version? Yes please! And so the circling starts again.

I have a year's subscription, and am unable to use it: is this deliberate fraud or just plain bad programming? How can I get back to the previous version which worked fine? Highly disgruntled!

UI update poor

the latest update to this app for Apple TV, addresses many issues with the old version its now much easier to see the schedule of what is on, and no more holding down menu butons to get out of the stream, ui consistant with other apps and much better genrealy... However its almost imposible to simply watch live ES1 or ES2, randomly you seem to get the channels on the schedule page, often you need to revert to watching anything on demand, swiping up to get the channels such a backwards step from the old interface.

Would it realy hurt to have a "Live" tab along side "Schedule, On Demand, Events, Search" etc

it feels like the latest version is a beta test that has been rushed.
