Was good. Now it’s absolute rubbish.
I’ve paid for this, and for all the added features. Up to the recent past I was quite happy with the player’s performance. Sadly it’s now got to the point where many of the features don’t work as they should, and the app is lacking many more features that other media player apps posses. The audio delay function doesn’t work. It simply doesn’t correct the audio delay with AVI, MKV and MP4 files. It just does not work. On other apps the same files are corrected in terms of the audio delay, with Oplayer however, the audio doesn’t correct at all rendering the entire app utterly useless. Also, the sound quality is below par. Other apps such as VLC Player and nPlayer allow for audio upgrades and equalisers. They even have headphone controls. Oplayer has an audio boost option but like their audio delay, the boost feature doesn’t work. It is just there as a useless ornament. It does nothing. Substandard rubbish. It’s all sadly and sorely lacking; the same can be said for contrast, saturation and brightness levels for the picture. These are features that other apps posses, but OPlayer has nothing to offer. All this has rendered the app useless and I will no longer be using it. A total waste of money. All efforts to contact the developer have been met with no reply. It seems the team at OPlayer is happy to take your money, but less than happy to reply to their customers. Avoid this app at all costs. A fundamental waste of your time, effort, and money.

Plays everything I want it to
Very versatile player, lots of options, unfortunately there seems to be no UI method of turning off subtitles, which is very annoying when I’m streaming from my media pc to my phone, the only way around this is to delete the srt file, which shouldn’t be necessary.

Super app for smb streaming. Only two features missing for perfection:

Missing vital components
The player plays, when you connect to things. However, it’s the connection to stuff I am struggling with. I have a media library on my wired network, the wifi is a mesh system and therefore has a different up range than the main network, but the main network is completely obtainable IF you can specify a location. With this software, you don’t seem to be able to do that. The automatic network analysis obviously isn’t going to work as the wifi has its own range that the media center isn’t on. I can’t specify the location of the media center. So this software to me is completely useless. If anyone has a similar scenario to me, which is becoming more common, avoid this software, it’s pointless for that use case

Does not recognise in app purchases or iCloud!
Paid for this back in 2015. Dropbox integration wouldn’t show recent files or folders. Reinstalled the app and now my in app fill features are not recognised. iCloud isn’t showing as a cloud service either. No response from developer. Really disappointing.

I love this app, I use it to stream radio stations because it works with MP3, AAC and HLS live streams. I'm blind, so thanks for making the app accessible with VoiceOver as well, keep up the good work.

Please fix
Please fix this app, has become very annoying. When pausing on lock screen and then trying to resume apple music player takes over. When paused oplayer should remain active in memory for resumption.
Also, add ability for app to open immediately to last played track please..... even if the app is closed/force quit.

No longer seems to support family sharing
The latest update to this app seems to no longer support family sharing. I bought the app, and my wife has access via family sharing. Since she updated to the latest version, it will no longer load, saying “This app is no longer shared with you”.
A shame, as I would otherwise have given 5 stars

Seems ok
This app seems quite good. It's easy to organise files. But the interface appears quite cluttered. It would be nice to have just the play commands and a settings menu which stores all the other commands. Is it possible to incorporate the stretch to fit screen command into the main settings and make it a global command so you don't have to apply it every time you start the app. This is annoying.

Capable player
I use it mostly for slow-mo, and that works great, including sound. Two small gripes though: firstly, UI is somewhat unintuitive in places: I can't figure out how to get a file into My Documents, it only shows in "recent", with no obvious way to move it. Second, I wish there was a hot zone in the player to adjust the speed without going through the menu, like there is for pause, play location, volume, and brightness.

Great all round player
Everything just works, a capable substitute for iTunes (thank goodness as I use Linux) with fast music uploading.......which also uploads multiple files (just shift and highlight all required files & drag & drop into window). Themes and all usual settings available and full headphone support. Thanks to developers, a great product.

Annoying
Since the new update it's become annoying that you have to buy codecs for media files that used to work before. Why buy the app if you have to pay individually for different formats. VLC player is free and plays all available codecs why can't OPlayer just include them again. This was my favorite media app but now I don't know. Please go back to how it was.

It's a decent app but tends to lose its place when closing a video which can be frustrating. Also it's not very self explanatory from the beginning. Apart from that it's decent.

Best player on iOS. Plays direct from a drive plugged into my router and decides any file format I've sent at it. Any feature I think would be nice to have, they have already thought of!
Allows you to download to the device from shared drives to play files offline - makes my commute to work much more interesting!

Forget Airplay - it doesn't work in this version
I reluctantly upgraded to this version after a previous upgrade removed ac3 sound (still missing!!) - I wish I hadn't. I have a couple of AirPlay devices Apple TV and my main XBMC in the living room. I try to use Airplay and it only AirPlays audio. The app says to turn on AirPlay mirroring in the setting but it's nowhere to be found. This app is going down in features and up in price. It used to be the pioneering top app for everything avi,divx,mp4 etc. Now it's fallen to the junk pile of the App Store with all the other useless movie apps. Dev - start listening to the reviews once more please.

Gone backwards
No better. A lot of files simply will not play anymore, they skip for a few seconds and then stop, although they did play ok previously. Accessing network shares is still very hit and miss too.
This was a great app THREE versions ago!! You're better off using 'Remote File Manager' by QuickApps until these guys rollback whatever they did to ruin this app.

The removal of the swipe gestures just does not make sense. not sure what developer is doing by removing features silently?

Pluses and minuses!
I really like the sound and brightness gestures but think the omission of the programable time jump swipe is detrimental to the spirit of the App. The new sweep-seek is terribly hard to implement and wastes time hunting back and forth!

Used to be a great player for downloading movies. Since upgrade playback does not work and movies do not download. Developers please sort this out.

Sadly a backward step
Used to be a great app for watching movies on an iPhone from a NAS or PC. Sadly latest update removes the good features like a skip back and forth by 10 seconds and it remembering how you last sorted your files list.
If you're using an older version of this app, I don't recommend upgrading unless you want to loose these feature too. Developers, please reinstate them or give us the option to select between old and new functionality - especially on the swipe to skip feature.

The only media player I've found on the store which reliably streams from the NAS on my home network. Fantastic app!!
The only negative I've come across is that a few films play without any sound. I've checked all the audio stream settings, etc, so will check the movie files to see what encoding it's having problems with.
Apart from that, well worth the price!!

It's good - highly recommend.
I use it for playing a variety of sound file formats.
It does a good job, though is not that intuitive to use. For instance, all my sound files are stored in the "documents" folder.
It's unfortunate that the paid for version has lost the recently played playlist, which I found useful.
Despite these negative comments, it is very good.

Great media player
Oplayer is very good plays everything, tho it still needs some work, have found that it doesn't save last position when the home button is pressed unless you press the back button first.
Also found that when you exit the app and then re enter the app it doesn't show the last window opened, ie watching video exit, reopen app and it shows the main menu. But all in all it does what it says.

Server connection issue
Worked well while I was playing shared files located on my Homeserver (2011). I've upgraded to Server 2012 and can't for the life of me get it to connect to the server.

Works well
Plays files such as AVI and mkv. Have to wait a few minutes for files to transfer to o-player before they open and some large files struggle on my iPhone 4, but this is probably due to phone processor not the app. Loads of features I don't use but works well.

Love this app! Best value I've ever had from an app, worth every penny. The upload process of videos bypasses the cumbersome iTunes rubbish.
Would give 6 Stars if they sped up wifi data transfer, but that's the only thing I can fault with it.

Now, it is still not support iPhone 5 screen, disappointment.
Once I bought this app, it is great. It played almost all kinds of video, the problem Iv heard from other people said that dont remember where u left last time , flv video shut down the phone, Iv never experience them, only one thing, some of the flv Video always played on slow mode, I don't know why, but I guess it because of the video is HD and I'm using iPhone 4, which is not the fastest iPhone.

Plays all common file types well, I use it for lossless music , HD films , .flac files .wav files . It's the best app I've found so far for it, I paid the extra money to get the pro version because it is so good. Just use app file sharing , no need to sync my iPod any more and not limited by iTunes file type limit anymore. -Dandaman3452

Simply awesome app to have.
I love it's simple wifi file transfer capability no account set up and all that hassle. Simply transfer and watch your video. It's also got very intuitive user interface for video playback which most of the vid player lacks. Thank you to the developers. Worth the buck.

Make viewing on ios easy
Though OPlayer has some flaws it does play a wide range of media types on a iOS device with out conversion. I use it to access about 6TB of media on a NAS device and most of the time it performs reasonably though it does struggle with larger files.

From all the apps I have tried for playing multiple video formats, oplayer wins. Played every file I have thrown at it and does it well. Now with the latest version has parallel downloads which was my previous nag. Keep up the great work

Brilliant app!
This is a great app! One of the best players out there! I give it 4 stars! I would give it 5 stars but I can't seem to stream/air play to apple tv with Oplayer:( when they fix that this will be the ultimate player! And I will give it 5 stars)
On a side note, I have been using this with external hardware ( cloudftp ) which works brilliantly! This means I can stream music or videos even hd videos from a external HD through the cloudftp. This works perfectly with ipad/iphone using Oplayer!

Good app
Plays every file I've thrown at it. Remembers where you are in a film if you go back to the main menu before exiting the app. Can't find the box to tick to make it NOT play each file on a loop in the new update, but apart from that I have very few gripes! Glad I paid for the upgrade.

One of the best media players out there. Plays wide variety of media files from NAS device (samba shares). Will only remember last place in movie (if paused) when playing media file from phone (ie. not streaming). Highly recommended!

Great App
Don't understand the problems other reviewers have had. This app works beautifully on my iPhone 4S and can play those .MTS files that normally require VLC. Very smooth playback - no stuttering and no audio sync problems at all. I like the 'dual core' option for the iPhone 4S - very good! I have this app on my iPad too. The iPhone version has been highly optimised for the iPhone so I have no objections to paying for a separate app and - hey - come on guys, it's on £1.99 - less than the skinny venti cappuccino I'm drinking while writing this review. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations to the dev. I've tried many streaming media players and all have had problems or required additional software on the host or required converting formats. Not so with OPlayer. It has streamed EVERYTHING I've thrown at it. I have this on my iPhone and the HD version on my iPad.

Fantastic app
So far I've used this on my iPhone 4 and loved it, I have played 1.5/2GB .avi and .mkv files with no problems, also I enjoyed being able to watch films with the original audio track and english subs with the .mkv files, and was surprised when given the option to watch or download media from the web. Very happy with OPlayer, it has become my go to app for long journeys on the train.

OPlayer... In A League Of Its Own!
OPlayer is by far the best media player for iOS by a country mile! I'm actually surprised by some of the ratings from other reviewers!
I have purchased AVPlayer, Ace Player, Azul, GoodPlayer and all the others but none of them can play back 720p MKV's like OPlayer can. There were a few (minor) sync problems with previous versions of OPlayer (due to Apple not supporting MKV'S with hardware acceleration) but the latest update has fixed any previous sync issues that once occurred.
Also, TV Out was working very poorly with previous versions of OPlayer but now with the latest update TV Out is working flawlessly.
I hope that the developers will continue to update and improve what I believe to be the best media player ever made available for iOS!
You've tried the rest... now buy the best!

Perfect
Just what I was looking for, checked out every player and this is the one that is best. Some other players kept going out of sync, or lagged... even with 150mb mkvs... this however breezes through small files like that. This handles everything I throw at it, except a 3gb 1080p movie I tested, but I didn't expect it to play that. 720p is fine though, which is great.
MKV with softsubs works great, for my use of watching anime. Definitely an app I will use often.
Using an iPhone 4, I imagine an A5 device could handle 1080p... although it really isn't necessary on a mobile device.

AirPlay video needed
I love oplayer and I only have 2 issues, when playing .avi files you only get to push audio to apple tv and not video, why? I would like to see this feature added... Also when you switch to a different app the downloading files stop and don't seem to start again, could the files still be downloaded while using different apps? That's for the great app and hopefully it will become greater, DK

NAS Friendly
It ain't so pretty but it sure does the job. Tried so many apps to play .avi and .mp4 and this is the most stable. Also like the ability to download direct from a NAS drive, although, with the companion app AirPlay, I can stream .avi movies direct from NAS (WD MyBook). Yep, it actually works. Great job guys!

i love this app, its by far the best avi player and ive tried them all. I use this all the time instead of converting to iphone format mp4. Updates are quite regular and is a must buy for people with loads of different media.

Fantastic!
I have at least 3 apps that playback xvid files and the latest few versions of OPlayer are far and away the best, it really is pretty flawless playback of xvids on an iPhone 4 now.
Great app, it gives me the one thing that I've always felt was missing from the iPhone and stopped it being the perfect device. No more mp4s for me!

Plays Mkv files better than VLC but the audio is a bit behind and it doesn't render all subtitles, which is shame. If these problems were fixed it would be a 5 star rating instead of 4. Also update the icon for the retina display.

Mkv playback doesn't work - synch of audio is all over the place and video doesn't playback properly like half speed. Ok for converted media but I could of done that with vlc player at least vlc were honest!!
Meant to be an update but still waiting and I have an iPhone 4 so not exactly a slow handset, tried the suggested work arounds, none of which made a blind bit of difference!!!
2 stars from me until the update fixes Mkv playback or I get this app for free

I don't usually write many reviews however i feel this is worthy of one. It is the only app i have found that plays avi properly, it seems quite strange at first to only transfer via wifi however once you get the idea how to transfer the files the process is easy enough. Highly recommended!

AVCHD on iPhone 4 well almost
This is an amazing app for an awesome phone.
This plays files the iPhone can't normally play.
I took a 1080p AVCHD file and changed the container from .m2ts to .mov using media coder. iTunes wouldn't import it into the library but oplayer allowed me to load it onto the iPhone. With "use QuickTime plugin" ticked it allowed the iPhone to play a 50mbps 1080p AVCHD file rewrapped into a .mob file with no trouble at all! Brilliant!!!

Just what I was looking for....
Works really well. Really easy to use. Played avi & divx perfectly. Gives you the option within the app to rename files, cut, paste, add, delete...
Only problem I have is playing WMV files, it won't let me skip (scratch) forward, just resets to the beginning, there maybe a problem with the file itself.
well worth the £1.79.

Video playback on iPhone 4
Videos uploaded directly into iTunes is the quickest way to add your media into oplayer. Most RMVB and Xvid video are compatible but have a slight lag in frame-rate during playback, hopefully this will be fixed in a future update.
Review Update: Frame-rate issues have been fixed for Xvid format.

i like it
i like this app, and it is worth the asking price (£1.79 i paid). you upload or download you video files and hen play them, works a treat. i have connected via cable and wifi and both work fine. there are little issues and i hope they get resolved in updates, like for eg you can create folders, but using itunes cable connection you cant upload files directly into a folder (or atleast i dont know how to do that) there are few more minor things, but for me they are minor.

Works with xvid and divx
Simply download or upload your avi files and they play flawlessly. Tested on iPhone 3GS. Not tried manually uploading via FTP but works with basic downloading videos from the Internet. A lot better than the first few reviews give it credit for although the update to 1.09 may also be responsible.
Yes, there are a few problems, the interface could do with tweaking and resuming downloads needs work but the player does allow playback of .avi which is the main selling point.
