Don't bother. Rotates between "No connection" and "Something went wrong when populating the list. Try again." In dire need of a major upgrade to get it functional.

Beholden to scammers
Unfortunately the app seemingly has a ‘suspend/ban’ first, ask questions later policy. My account was suspended with no warning and no message as to why. I’ve read this in other reviews too. Can only assume it was on the report of one member who accused me of being a ‘catfish’ because I looked different in some of my photos. Avoid.

Very little support for fixing bugs
The developers say they don’t offer support for this app! Distance doesn’t work correctly, when reported I was told that it wasn’t supported, despite being a feature! Since the upgrade to iOS16 it frequently hangs, again a poor response from support saying they don’t support it!

5 Year Account Suspended
An account I’ve have for 5 years has been suspended for making a reference for findom.
No email was sent to me and when I enquired via support I got a very stroppy and harsh email saying my account had been suspended and “that’s out final decision”.
Why can’t I just remove the reference ? I’ve now lost access to all the friends I’ve added there, as well as my photos.

From someone who left the “community”
Reposting a review because my first one isn’t showing. I’ve had a lot of damaging experiences through this app. (Aside from fun) I joined the app because I thought it was a place where I could find likeminded people, be myself, and be part of the “community” that this app supposedly has. When I moved to a new city by myself, this was more true. Instead what I found was a toxic hierarchy and people who lie, abuse, and manipulate others and I believe this app promotes that culture and condones potentially damaging behaviour. Evidence of this being that it shared an article on the news feed about a couple and one of them lies about his age on other apps in order to approach people. But what happens when the other person finds out they’ve been lied to? How does that person feel? Why aren’t there more pieces about mental health, consent, supporting one another? Why publish the best lies to tell in order to get a cheap quick one? I’ve never felt more isolated (and scared) within the LGBT community than I have when I was on this app.

Every time I open and account with them they
Ban it without any notice
No email sent to explain the reason at all.
I started open accounts without any details only my photo and avoided even chatting with anyone as I thought first someone report me though can’t think of any reason why would that happen and even if so why I have not got any notice and even so why no email to explain the reason !
Anyway after couple of times of banking me i contacted them and they come up with discriminative dodgy excuse that they think the photo is not mine !
Now recon does not ask people to prove their photo is theirs so why me ? And even if it is the reason why they did not ask for verification before the ban without any warn it notice ! Yet I offered a video call or my Instagram to prove they refused and they wanted a clear ID showing my date of birth and face ! I refused to give such a sensitive material as it is an official document given to me by a governmental authority to take care of it not to give it online

Also some profiles they have definitely not their photos as one can see they are online photo yet their profiles are left to function without questioning !!!
No matter how many times I’ve asked them why me they just said yes we don’t ask every one but now we are talking about you ( I can prove with my emails with them ).
In the end I said then delete my account fully from your data and remove all my photos
They refused to delete my photo until I submit my sensitive ID showing my face full name and date of birth !!!
The account is mine as they are communicating with me through the email registered with so the photo either they believe it is mine or not it was uploaded by myself and the account is mine and I wanted it to be deleted so they are not deleting it.
They know it is my photo and they know I am genuine but there is something dodgy and I was shocked how vulnerable gays there and exposed by recon gang admins

Rubbish app
So they want to charge you, not to text someone, or search with basic filters, but to actually view profiles. You get a limited number of profiles to view per day and need to buy premium to view more than like 10 profiles a day. That’s just greedy money grabbing.

I really wish I never wasted my money on this app. There was always bugs in the system but since being a fully paid member it’s across the board from not being able to see a full list of who’s online to no notifications (users think your ignoring them, simply not the case). I won’t be renewing my membership anytime soon. At least if you’re not paying for it then you don’t feel ripped off.

I got suspended as had 2 accounts as lost details for the 1st account, had 2 accounts for over a year and all of a sudden i get suspended i understand why but i email someone to find out and they tell me i have more than 1 account i need to delete some and only use 1 which is fine but i can’t log back in to delete the 1 i don’t want and can’t log in to the 1 im using, i spent half the day emailing the support people and no luck getting back on, looks like i wont be able to use recon ever again

An app / website that needs serious TLC. Dilapidated content (issue 1 newsletter still??), substandard search on the app, no scope for gender identity or Prep user choice. Outdated, in need of investment and sadly no longer worth the subscription. Oh and the angry ginger man on the imagery??? Get someone approachable! Viewing profile issues
I have used this site for years with little problem. I think it’s a great site!
But now suddenly, I can’t view any more than 20-30 profiles of people who are actually online in my region. I used to be able to scroll down and view as many as I wanted but now, as I say, only up to about 30 profiles are viewable.

Got premium but notifications don’t work
I was experiencing that even before going premium. I updated the app... deleted it and reinstalled... but nothing it doesn’t work. Actually it got worse: before I just had to open the app to see any kind of notification (cruises, messages...). Now I have to go and click on the message icon to see if I have messages... they do not even appear anymore straightaway when I open the app.

It should:
- be cheaper as to premium version
- hold an chat system
- show date of the creation of the profile in the app
- recover the notes, which was very useful and Recon took off with a promise of something better.
Having said that, it’s still the best fetish site/app with a commendable role for fetish life.

Following today’s update 24 May yet again notifications have been screwed up!!! This happened after the last update as well.
Soon after turning off some of the notifications they come back on again on their own. This really should not happen. Poor testing sadly.
This is happening on both iPhone and iPad.

Notifications don’t work
For a few months now the app’s notifications have stopped working. They appear randomly or not at all. Messages also appear randomly read or unread within the app.
The developers seem to have no idea what is wrong - they have been saying they are working on a fix for ages.
When I have enquired about getting a refund on my premium membership I was told to go away. Very poor service and, sadly, a poor app now as well!

Finally!
Best community by far on Recon and love their events too but have been too slow upgrading app. New update has finally sorted my issues with it not working properly on my 8+ and new menu looks a little less 1995. Here’s to hoping photos and profile searches are up next.

Having Recon now supporting iPhone plus size phones is such an improvement. Layout now just works.
Feels slicker and more responsive. Location updates are much more accurate I’ve noticed too.
