Storytel is available in 25+ countries, including both local and international story treasures in different languages. A subscription gives you access to our ever-growing library of audiobooks, ebooks, and other stories.

In-app subscriptions will be charged via your iTunes account. Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of the subscription period unless auto renewal is turned off in your iTunes account settings at least 24 hours before your subscription period runs out.

When a free trial is offered, we will ask you to add a payment method when starting the trial. But don't worry – if you cancel before the last day of the trial you won't be charged.

Not a big choice

Many of the books I am looking for are not available.When I tried to unsubscribe a bad surprise was that I can’t do that on the app, but I don’t remember my password and they don’t send it to my email.

Usually I can unsubscribe from my iPhone where all the subscriptions are but nah…

I will call my bank eventually to cancel the payment

Weird region locking on books & languages

Their free trial shows all the different languages you can access. After you purchase a plan you can only access a very limited number of languages. The only reason I purchased was to listen too books in Portuguese.

Their customer support also doesn’t answer.

Many books are not available

Oh, where do I even start with this Storytel app? It's a complete disappointment. Many books are missing, and when I asked for a refund within an hour of purchase, they refused, claiming their app is non-refundable. It's not user-friendly, lacks intelligent books, and leaves much to be desired. Save your time, money, and sanity and steer clear of this app. There are better options out there for book lovers.

Tremendous Content, but User Experience Needs Improvement"

I absolutely love Storytel due to its incredible content, setting it apart from its competitors. However, the user experience leaves something to be desired. For instance, the placement and color of the save and listen buttons can be confusing, leading to accidental unsaves instead of plays. This lack of a double-checking feature can result in mistakenly losing downloaded content while you're on the tube. Additionally, the app repeatedly recommends the same book title from different publishers, even if you've already read it from another publisher. There's also the issue of not being able to manually select what you've already listened to or read. The list of concerns seems to go on and on.

I hope they take my feedback into consideration and address these issues in their future updates.

This program does not work in the UK for Ukrainian citizens, I have an empty App, I can not see the library or buy a subscription. I don't recommend using this.

Low audio quality limited books availability

Audio quality of available books is really low. Cracking and or muffled sound. It doesn’t really matter as most books are can’t play as “they are not available in your region”. Support non existent.

Poor catalogue

The title availability in the UK is extremely poor. Most of the audiobooks in English are not available to listen which makes this app’s offer one of the poorest on the market at the moment.

These are just books I searched for today. There have been many times I have searched a quite famous author or book and not found it.

Yes there are many famous titles like Harry Potter and Tolkien but this app has far from a deep collection. Almost every time I search a book now it won’t be there. Sadly I think it’s no longer worth the price because there is no feature to request books to add and the app has none of the titles I want to read.

Love it but one thing stops me paying for it

I paid for a subscription to this asI thought it’d be brilliant to read and listen to books, which you can do but not at the same time. As a language learner it is vital to do both as it dramatically increases your comprehension very quickly. As a lower advanced learner it is vital for improving listening comprehension. I would love to see this feature. The other thing that puts me off is that you can only select one language. I wanted Norwegian and Italian but I cannot choose both. Such a shame as I’d be more than happy to pay for a sub for that.

Not worth to subscribe since 2021

I used to enjoy this app very much.One of my favourite books app,but until a month ago they have decided to make thousands of books unavailable that I had already added on my list of the books that I wanted to listen,without any notice.Extremely disappointing based in the U.K and I don’t have access barely any of the books in English I was interested in such as Thousand splendid suns,A spy amongs friends,Midnight in Chernobyl...and many more.I hope this will fixed in the future so I can subscribe again else the variety of books is very narrow !

Downloading any book is just horrible. If your screen block you need to start downloading again. This is just a joke. You can’t do anything while book is downloaded. This is looks like 20 years ago. Please fix this

Umm...

I was scrolling down the App Store to see this. At first, the smart thing was to look at the reviews and it looked great but when I downloaded it, it didn’t have England on it.

Terrible User Experience and UI

Good content, but terrible, terrible app. Barely usable if you want podcasts, there’s no queue option, when listening to a it’s very long winded and hidden to access the rest of the episodes , extremely unintuitive UI, unpredictable back and “x” buttons and a very long list of design issues.

One of the worse UX I’ve seen on an app, specially a payed one. Many independent designers and app developers have done a much better job at making podcast and audiobook apps.

Fab for commuting.

I have a long commute. I love listening to books while I am on the road or in the train. I can listen to as many books as I want too. What’s not to like!

Book Chapter VIew Addition

It would be really nice to have a book chapter list which we can jump to beginning of that chapter easily

Also, voice volume level is very low for some books, which makes them very difficult to listen at public transport due to outside noise. Please improve the sound quality a bit more. Thanks

Enjoy listening and learning

Unfortunately, I was not able to read as much as I would had liked to due to my busy schedule. Thanks to this App as it is very satisfying to my desire to read and learn in Arabic and English. I would like to praise the readers for their beautiful voices and clear reading accents.

Practical

I have been using Storytel for a couple of years now and I really like it. I would love for more English audioboods to be available, even the latest ones. I’d say that 6 out of the 10 books I look for are available. Very userfriendly too!
