Turn your iPhone or iPad into a personal interpreter for 33 languages.
The "Travel Interpreter" is a talking, illustrated phrasebook which translates words and phrases into 33 languages. The app offers you the unique opportunity to communicate abroad without any special language skills, as it can simply speak the translation as required. Easily understandable illustrations make communication even easier.
You can use the "Travel Interpreter" to order plane tickets, book hotel rooms, take a car to be repaired or order a meal in a restaurant without any language skills at all. More than 2,200 phrases and words are included for each language, all of which are clearly categorised according to the respective topic, such as customs, hotel, service, driving, car services, sightseeing, entertainment, eating and drinking, sport and leisure.
The integrated search function makes it even easier to find what you need. If, for example, you want to book a single room in a hotel, simply key in "single" and the phrase "I would like to book a single room" already appears on the screen.

Well I was a little apprehensive at £5.99 with no previous reviews but I downloaded it. Very glad I did it really is excellent.
As a frequent traveller to various countries the fact it is self-contained is invaluable as having to use data charges or Internet connectivity on a free app will cost you more in roaming charges! So get this instead. Plus it works for 22 languages.
The ability to identify basic foods from a menu is going to help a lot. Now I can at least order Steak or Chicken in Japan. Instead of getting raw garlic or raw mince like last time randomly pointing on a Japanese menu!
My only criticism is you cannot copy and paste the phrases to other apps which is annoying if you want to write an email or text to someone.
Also the search function is not ideal eg search for 'chicken' in German and you will find it buried below a load of phrases you might use at the Post Office. It doesn't put the closest or exact match at the top!
So improve the search and provide copy and paste functionality and you have a great and very cheap app, well if not cheap then good value. No more phrasebooks.

Much needed!
This is a much needed app. Great that all the data is stored in app. Fantastic search feature.
Lots of really useful phrases.
Tested on iPhone 4 - runs really well.
Would pay asking price for individual language packs. Definitely a must have considering what is packed in this little app. Saying that, the space it takes up will really eat up any 8GB devices but not a deal-breaker.

THIS IS A GREAT APP
I travel a bit now and again and this app is great with all the different languages . Found it very easy to use and a must have when traveling abroad.

Very useful app
Off to Cuba next week, having the language in my pocket will be very helpful. French has a great accent too, great app for a traveller going away more than once per year.
