Don’t bother using this app in Rome. There are two outcomes when booking taxis. The first is that you request a ride and nobody accepts the request. The second is that you eventually book a ride and the taxi driver cancels on route to pick somebody else up for more money. I’ve been in Rome for 5 days and haven’t managed to get a single successful ride via this app.

I got a cab ride for which I was charged four times for the same
Got refunded once and the other one being the actual charge , meaning I needed to get refunded twice for the same ride.
Calling customer service they weren’t really helpful telling me the payment hadn’t reflected on their side etc and I had to call my bank to rectify it
But the whole issue wouldn’t have happened if their app works as it should

While it is very competitive on pricing I often find you can’t pay using any of your stored cards (it says processing for 30 seconds and then fails - meaning you can’t book a car. I suspect it’s a load problem and they can’t cope). I’ve also noticed lately that the “arriving in 2 minutes” quickly extends to 5, and then another 5 and it’s 15 minutes before you get a driver - so arrival calculations are being gamed. Finally, it does have a habit of defaulting to a 15% tip in every ride upfront. I don’t mind tipping for great service but it’s often not great and I later realise I just added £5 to an unsatisfactory ride.
Overall it ok, but not smashing it by any means.

I tried to pre-book cabs on 3 different occasions but each time they were all cancelled at the time or long after the time for the pre-booked time! One of these pre-bookings was more than 24hrs in advance for a trip to the airport in the afternoon, instead, we made a mad dash to the train station as a back up! If the journey is pre-booked at least 24hrs in advance then someone needs to be held accountable for this, just like the customer is accountable for not being there on time!

Got referred and downloaded the app with a £10 off first trip. When I tried to book the cab a message appears on screen "Oops, unfortunately, your selected payment method is currently unavailable. Please choose another."
So I tried another form of payment, a different card to no avail
My friends, two of them same problem.
I contacted FREENOW & they said said there a block on my account and will try to resolve. So the other team comes back and says the block will remain without any further clarification. Made me feel like I’ve done something wrong. Rubbish service & app, would not recommend.

So I downloaded and used this app for the first time recently, I can say that the first time discounts are so good (50% off), it literally took less than 5 minutes to book and for the cab to arrive which i was very happy about. Cons: so once I got the discount my original journey price was £16. discount = £8. fair enough right? wrong. They took a holding payment which they said they would return right after the journey was done? fair enough right? wrong. so in total they took the £8 + £16 = £24 which is more than the actual journey itself. once i got to my destination, the money was not returned. I used them again the same day and the same thing happened totalling = £50 coming out of my account which was not returned immediately. Always read the fine print. the whole time i was just like bolt and uber would’ve never done this. my money never got returned for 3-4 days. not the best experience with a cab app and i will not be using it again as that was very misleading. please be aware of this before booking with freenow.

This app, and others like it break the taxi service model, it is excellent for drivers but awful for customers.
Apps like this mean that drivers concentrate around areas of high fare concentration, because the driver chooses where they pick up their fares from, i and others have waited over an hour to ‘find a driver’ when in a suburb, or in an awkward road traffic area. Worse I’ve had drivers cancel on me after accepting. It is therefore impossible to plan for time with this app, especially when critical timings like flights, or theatre entry.
Apps like this mean that it is almost impossible to flag a taxi from the road. Now almost every taxi I see is empty, but none of them stop because they are all booked for a fare somewhere else.
Apps like this have made traveling less dependable, and more mercenary. Consumers are losing out to a business model focussed on money, not service.

I used this app in Spain, 4 times and all of them the drivers charged between 2 to 4 euros more than what The taximeter shows, some of them also charged extra tips. I called the support and they just came back to me without explanation just saying the charge was correct. Do you want to get scammed? FreeNow is your app. You can use Cabify or Uber in Valencia instead. Avoid surprises that spoil your holiday with this app.

“I did contact before and the only response was from Gustavo saying the charges was correct when obviously is not, 2 to 4 euros was always extra charged here in Valencia after each trip. If you guys do not control what taxi drivers charge to the users, and have no way to verify is the right charge then you are leaving your customers unprotected to thirsty taxi scammers”

I booked a black cab for 2 people because we had a lot of luggage to take to university. A standard car arrived. When I explained we had lots luggage, the driver immediately said if it doesn’t fit in the boot he would not take us! And it was nothing to do with him if the wrong car was sent. This is a train strike day and the cab was to Kings x to go to Edinburgh. We wd have missed our train. Luckily it squeezed in his boot or we wd have been stuck. He then stopped at the end of the street for a cpl of mins to look at his phone. I asked him if all was ok and he told me off for stressing him out!!

Avoid using in Naples. They do not show the trip cost up front, and you will definitely receive a bad surprise, they charge almost double what the local taxi would.
The funny thing that when they reserve the trip cost, it’s very similar to what you would expect to pay to a taxi driver, but then after your trip they charge double of that.
We had the trip with the metered taxi. The meter on taxi was showing around 35eur and the bill from freenow was more than 50eur after

Free Now are consistently the cheapest taxi app to use in London when selecting “private ride”, but the annoying shortcomings of the app such as not being able to add a stop, split fare or do many of the innovative features Uber have developed. Additionally, if you ever have a problem with a ride Free Now customer service are the worst in the business. No phone support, emails take days and never resolve the problem. Frequent riders will see these problems driving them towards other apps- Free Now needs to stop spending so much on attracting new customers and spend some time looking after their current ones.

Tonight was the third time I have had a catastrophic failure trying to use this app and been left stranded. Each time my booking was accepted and never arrived. This time I called the driver who said my booking had disappeared from his screen and was no longer aware he was providing it. On the app it reported the driver was “1 minute away” half an hour after the booking was denied by the driver which still looked to be valid. I was left late and frustrated once again by this app but at least know better than to use it ever again after contacting the driver this time and finding the truth. It’s a shame as my early experiences with this app were positive all however it now seems a complete liability. This app should be classed as a lottery rather than transport. Not for me any more.

Freenow has a lot of potential with the great prices it offers. However, I’ve had several trips in a row now in LONDON at peak times where there are no drivers available to pick up. I’ve waited 20, even 35 minutes, to have someone pick up the ride, then have to cancel and use Bolt or just take public transport and accept being extremely late from these apps failing. No one wants to take the drives or if they do, they wait til waiting times time out and the prices go up due to the “demand” once or twice, til the same nearby drivers finally accept. Feels like an absolute scam, waste of money, and especially of time. These companies need to communicate better with their drivers and incentivize them to take more rides; otherwise, they’ll be losing A LOT of customers from their terrible reputations.

I booked a taxi from central London which is one of the only places this app actually works due to not having many drivers outside of London. The first two cancelled. The next one arrived but let other people get in and cancelled right in front of us despite me showing the driver my booking (with his number plate). The last booking didn’t turn up and waited for me to cancel the booking so that it would cost me. I contacted customer service to resolve they apologised and offered a voucher refund I declined and asked that the charge be paid back to my credit card. They refused and then tried to argue their driver had turned up but was waiting in a different location.
It’s a shame I was trying to give competition to Uber a go but just not worth the hassle.

Beware the pre-book scam with this app. It now happens twice that no driver showed up and booking was cancelled after 20 min waiting when we had a confirmed pre-booking to train station (nearly missed our eurostar) and airport (nearly missed our flight). Thank you UBER for saving us, reliably and with cheaper fare.
Other hints that this is a shady platform that doesn't operate to serve their customers: once the pre-booked trips have been unilaterally cancelled by free now, all traces and evidence disappear, making it impossible to share feedback or raise the issue (you can only do so where a successful trip happened).
Well, I guess this means one has little other options than complaining with transport for London, to review into license to operate.

Sends you lots of email about discounts for the week. The last three trips I tried to book….When you try the first confirm, the ride is v cheap but 1-2 mins later the driver cancels and app looks forever for another driver…when you close the app and try to book again the price shoots up 2-3 times… end up using Uber or bolt instead. To update 25 April 2023, this is the worst app ever!.. than I almost missed my flight …. Took forever to find drivers 3 drivers cancelled one after another each after making me wait between 6 - 15 mins!
Update 29 April 2023. Contacted by Erini claiming they cannot find any bookings in my account and cannot proceeds to investigate due to GDPR. I took a screen grab showing the cancellations by the drivers from my account. Another example of incompetence.

Multiple times I have pre-booked and had a problem but today was the worst. I pre-booked a taxi, he arrived 10 minutes early and called me to aggressively say he was going to start the metre. When I got in the car I told him it was a prebook and he was early so asked could he restart the metre. He then snapped saying that I’m lying because his app doesn’t say it was a pre-book. I told him that’s not my fault and tried to show him my app which clearly said pre-booked. He refused to look and told me I could either pay or get out. Needless to say I got out. I didn’t feel safe in a car with someone so angry. He was angry from the second he arrived and called me. He cancelled the ride so now I can’t report him as his name isn’t appearing in my past trips.
This kind of thing is happening more and more often since the new pre-book feature update and there’s nothing that can be done to remedy it because these failed pre-books don’t appear in the past trips log.

Today was the first time in my life I’ve ever tried free now & it would be the last. I had a shift to attend & I had to edit the drop off location because the postcode didn’t match the address but before you edit the location completely, you have to confirm the new price of the trip, which I did. I thought the increment was as simply adding the difference to the original price but turns out I was being charged for a whole new trip. So if I had a trip for £15 & I decided to change my drop off point & I see £20 I’m assuming that the difference is £5 but I’m being charged £15 & £20. By the time I got to work, they took about over £70 of my money which made no sense & left me mind boggled.
To make matters worse, they have no customer service number but a number only for their drivers, their live chat was unresponsive & I’m currently awaiting a reply as I’ve emailed them & contacted my bank. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Used the app a few times to experience great drivers and great service, as well as some awful drivers and awful service! Had one driver that picked an argument for no reason and had another driver accept the job saying they were dropping someone nearby before getting me but on the tracker they were just driving and driving and driving far away from me. Why even accept the job? They shouldn’t be allowed to accept in that situation in my opinion. Anyway I’m defo going off this app, thought it was great at first.
Originally I gave this app 3 stars, changed to 1. Tried to pre book to go to the airport and in the morning got a message saying no drivers available, so what’s the actual point of pre booking then? Anyway I’ve came away for this app now just a waste of time

I pre-booked a taxi for the airport for 5:30am, using a 50% off promotion that I got in my inbox a couple of days ago. At 5:30am this morning there was no sign of the driver. I had to call him and he told me he was on his way. 15 min later he finally showed up. The fair I paid had a total discount of £9, corresponding to 25% off rather than 50%. So, I contacted the customer care service through the app and I received an email back saying that if I wanted to be contacted by an operator I had to reply to the email, attaching a screenshot of my relay address as they are GDPR compliant!!?? You already have all my details and I gave you consent to contact me. This is an overkill from a customer experience pov and you should really sack someone in your compliance and marketing department.
The customer support replied after this unnecessary step, completed at 6 am on a Sunday morning. I also questioned their ‘waiting fee’ policy, which applied to the customer in case the taxi has to wait over 5 min, but it doesn’t work the other way around, especially if someone has pre-booked a taxi that is meant to go to the airport. After my last email, no reply.
Review your GDPR policies, your misleading promotional activities and your waiting fees in order to attract more customers, retain existing ones and compete with the likes of Bolt and Uber! They would have refunded my fair by now!

The app’s policy is to check you’ve got available funds before assigning you a driver - fair enough. But they do this by “taking” the money from you account as a Pending Transaction (and pending transactions affect your available balance, even though they haven’t been completed).
Finishing a shift at 3am I tried to get home from the hospital. I tried 4 different options (private hire, black cab etc) via FreeNow - none of which showed an estimated ETA of more than 10 minutes. All 4 “rides” eventually came back as “no driver can be found.”
48 hours later, having walked home 45 minutes in the wee small hours, more than £60 are still “pending” thanks to FreeNow. Who insist that the release of these funds is nothing they can affect. The bank says the only person who can remove the pending transactions is the merchant (so FreeNow are either uninformed or lying).
If you work for the NHS (with the minimal salary) and it’s the end of the month, £60 off your available bank balance due to laziness from FreeNow becomes quite significant.

A couple of days ago, I had booked a FreeNow black cab for a 5:00am pickup today to the London Eurostar international terminal, to catch an early train to Amsterdam. Literally at 5:00am today (21st September 2022), the app sent me a notification that no drivers were available! I was then scrambling around to find another (any!) cab at the last minute, across the FreeNow, Uber and Bolt platforms, to make it to the terminal in time. This was a stressful experience, as other drivers were either not available, too far away, or cancelled my booking (Bolt drivers get unlimited cancellations, FreeNow drivers get only three per week). I live in north London, zone 2, it’s only a ten-fifteen minute drive to the terminal from my home, but when no cabs are available it suddenly feels very far.
This business model of assigning drivers at the last minute only, does not work for international travellers who need the security of a confirmed booking, particularly for early morning or late night trips. FreeNow (and other platforms) need to figure out a way to honour pre-bookings, to international terminals in particular — it can’t be that hard! In the meantime, me and my family are going back to using the old minicab companies, who do a much better job at this usually. Drivers show up early, and if no drivers are available for an early morning pickup, you find out a day or two in advance, not at the last minute.

Generally, the app works well. You get loyalty points and occasional perks like discounted rides etc. Decent options for the type of vehicle you would prefer and an option to pre-book a ride… except… pre-booking a ride doesn’t guarantee you a ride! Which is a huge let down. Not really sure what the point of pre-booking a car is if the app simply just searches for a driver at the time you specified. I wish I had known this before using the option, as I was left in a bit of a panic when no driver could be found on the morning that I had an important appointment.
Overall, good for when you’re not bothered about arrival times and drop off times. If you are, maybe not the best app to use.

Using this app while on holiday in Lisbon. The service is generally good however there is a glitch with the app not updating the driver's progress so it looks as if they're not moving.
Today's fare was stuck on '7 minutes away' for ages, but when I called the driver he was less than 1km/5 mins away. He said when he picked us up that he is experiencing the same problem frequently, with people cancelling when he's just round the corner because they think he's still 10mins away and is taking too long. The same thing happened to us yesterday but the driver didn't answer when I called so we did end up cancelling when they were probably not far away. Please work to resolve this issue as it is resulting in a less than optimal service for customers aga wasted time/money for drivers. Thanks. (Also a feature to message drivers would be good as well as just phone)

The drivers are almost all fabulous
I like the app although I do believe that having drivers pay a rate for jobs they traditionally would have picked up with none of this is immoral -I do believe it should be down to consumers not the drivers to pay for that.
I personally add on 15% to cover the fee then manually add in a tip. Because it’s just wrong otherwise.
I think a subscription for consumers would be better -it would encourage more drivers to use you meaning more drivers around meaning I won’t be frustrated as a disabled person when I can’t get to hospital or physio appointments.

Very Terrible service. First cab I ordered I was majorly disrespected by the driver as he nearly ran me over & as I asked him to open the door he sped away unprovoked. I haven’t never experienced something so poor. As it being 3 in the morning and I am leaving family. It is indecent as the man left me stranded with my stuff in the middle of Whitechapel area. Where it is surrounded by crackheads and thieves. Yet he could not drop me from A to B. The gentlemen was getting paid for this service so what was the problem. I would not be using this app again as it was a very unpleasant and short lived experience. The drivers name is also Jospeh O. Number plate. LW14LXE. If anyone is trying to avoid this particular situation. I would recommend this happen to anyone as it was not a fair situation to be in. In fact it’s slightly degrading being a young women left on the street with no excuse. I hope time teaches this gentleman to humble and I pray that he does not have any daughters or sisters that will have to face such horrid men in their life (as much as they already do obviously)

Booked a ride recently and the driver didn’t move for 20 mins, then called me and tried to ask me to cancel because of “traffic”, I checked Google maps and found no traffic between our respective locations, I pointed this out and the driver started driving away from me and told me I’ll have to wait another half an hour for him to arrive.
Eventually I cancelled the ride as the driver gave me no other choice, and FreeNow charged me a fee. I then contacted their customer service and they never got back in touch. I tried reaching out on Twitter, nothing. Tried Facebook, nothing. If you have any issue with Free Now - good luck, they offer no support and are impossible to contact. Will avoid this app from now on. They’re basically incentivising drivers to steal cancellation fees from people and then avoid any customer service to refund people

I have used the app a couple of times and it was ok, sometimes they don’t have any driver but expected as is not as big as other apps. What is not ok is for them to change the price AFTER the trip. I made my booking as usual and it displayed x price, but when I got home I got charged more. When contacting customer support they said there was “high demand fee” which I explain to them it was not the case when I booked as the app didn’t say so - they didn’t let me know at all there was a price increase so I can decide whether I want to pay extra or just not make my booking. Their customer support didn’t seem to listen or understand and didn’t do anything. So here I am, overcharged and nothing I can do about it. So be aware that you can be charged extra after your trip if they want to say there was a “high demand”.

Impossible to delete account

My experience is Freenow are obstructive and use tactics to stop you deleting your account. Freenow requires you to submit a request to customer services, in this day and age most apps allow users to delete their account within an app. I had to submit repeated requests over 10 days, then got an email stating my account is deleted but I was still able to log into the app with my apple ID . Freenow have admitted that even though they ‘deleted my account’, if I log into the account with apple ID, a new account is automatically created. The sole purpose of me logging with apple ID after freenow’s supposed account deletion was because I didn’t trust that Freenow had actioned my request. On no other app I have used, does signing with Apple ID after a genuine account deletion, automatically bring up my personal data and ‘recreate a new profile’. In my opinion if Freenow had done a true account deletion, this shouldn’t happen. If my data still appears it suggests it is still stored on the Freenow app, which I don’t think is compliant with GDPR or DPA. I would not recommend this app based on my experiences. I have deleted the Freenow app and amended my apple ID settings.

I’ve really wanted to like Free Now. I support everything it stands for. Unfortunately, lately it stands more for collecting your cash up front and never picking up your ride. Super disappointed since I have picked up rides from Free Now that are much more expensive than Uber or Bolt alternatives to try and support the community but they unfortunately will pick up and then cancel after a few mins. Don’t waste your time or your bank details (for them to take your cash for a few hours before returning.) Super disappointed (and likely unethical)

Right so the reason why i think this app is convenient in some way is because of the “discounts” you can get if you use the app a lot - but that’s about it. Everything else is literally so bad the waiting times are atrocious and the whole idea of taking money out before your journey even begins is irritating and stupid especially if one account hasn’t got enough money etc. you have to literally wait for it bounce back whilst in a rush, even the fact i live in a whole city -London one of the most popular places in the world & yet it’s so hard to find a driver?
The app is slow to honestly uber or even bolt is the best if you’re a person on the run constantly this app is good if you are in a situation or simply not in a rush.

As I had previously seen it, this was a very good, cheap and effective alternative to Uber/Bolt - certainly the new industry lead. However after getting inside of a FreeNow car that I was ushered into from Be At One’s staff I quickly found it to be not only a hostile environment but also an environment where I was made to feel like a theif and a criminal. Driver demanded cash from me which I felt was strange mid journey and told him I would pay upon arrival (especially as not such request was made known to me prior to our journey). He then pulled over outiside the bar I was picked up from and made a scene as though the car engine was faulty and I was causing trouble. Leading to the bar staff intimidating me and advising me to move on. Made my own way home after that, not trusting any of the transport options offered to me.

Don’t recommend this app, competitors are simply better

I really liked the app at first but then drivers would accept the ride and found a better deal with another app elsewhere and would just leave me standing outside, waiting for them, watching them to drive further away from my Pick up location. They won’t cancel the ride themselves or answer the phone - if they cancelled themselves their rating would go down. So they just keep the ride as ‘accepted’ and wait for YOU to cancel it. Happened to me three times and resulted in me being seriously late for an important meeting. Not at all reliable and the drivers are having a laugh….. Free Now sent me an automated message and completely refused to deal with me. Not sure where they are based but the customer service really is quite disappointing. Far better apps to be used in London where drivers can’t pull such no shows on customers. Account deleted! Good luck succeeding in the big city with such poor customer service.

The most basic and backwards app I’ve ever used. We thought we’d try this as an alternative to Addison Lee. The app is so un user friendly. You can’t change collection times or add passenger details when booking for others. You also can’t find all addresses so one person I book cars for in London doesn’t even have his exact address available on the app so I have to try and find a location near his house. Most of the drivers are rude. Today I prebooked a car for 10pm and the driver turned up more than five mins early and by 10pm had got bored waiting and decided to cancel the car yet it wasn’t even the pick up time yet. He also moaned he was in the wrong place for Eurostar trains despite me using the address ‘Eurostar st Pancras’ given on the app. They state on their app that they have only Had 13 complaints. I know why that is. Because it’s impossible to find out how to contact them to complain and when you do the print is so small you can’t read it anyway. Won’t use this joke of a service again.

Used this app in London because they say they use black cabs and it gave me a false feeling of safety. Pre-booked my cab for the morning, they’ve said ‘pre booked’ and that they’ve already closed the actual money from my card but than I went down the next morning with my luggage and no one was there. I got a message 10 min later that there was no available taxi!!!! I had to try to get a taxi from an other app at 4am, of course like that it has taken so long that I had to pay more than double because I was late and needed to book a ride not only to picadelly line but all the way to Heathrow… and even like this I’ve almost missed my flight.
So don’t believe in the prebooking option, it doesn’t mean you have a taxi secured for you!!!

First time and second time used in the same day. Both went faultless. I like the options of rides from black cab to Electric cars with diffent prices displayed.
The only thing made a nervous that before you pick your ride option it tells you est awaiting times for pick up but then after selecting the option it starts saying ‘looking for a driver’ so nervously waiting to find out how long will I have to await for the car as I had already had confirmed paying for it.
If there would be an option to cancel the ride without a charge should the awating times too long would be good or It may already exists that I do not know as am very new to use the app.

The app itself is fine, but I had a very bad first experience.
I booked a ride 24 hours in advance.
15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time, the assigned taxi driver called me to say, he is in another town too far away to pick me up, and that I should cancel the booking.
Then he hung up on me before I could reply.
I still needed to travel so I didn’t cancel my booking. After 5 mins when I hadn’t cancelled, he called me again saying he can not come and I must cancel the booking.
I replied “this was pre booked, it’s not my fault if you can not pick me up, you should cancel from your side”.
He hung up on me again and then the app showed my booking was “searching for drivers”. I waited a few minutes but it didn’t find any drivers. Then I cancelled the booking with the reason that no drivers could be found.
I ended up using Uber for that ride instead.
I appreciate this is probably related to the local taxi company which FreeNow selected, not FreeNow itself. But still this was a terrible first experience of using the app, for a trip which was pre booked 24 hours earlier! I haven’t used the app since.

Developer sent a message back asking me to contact them to discuss it further - I’m not wearing my time contacting YOU. It’s for YOU to contact me. You’ve got everything the wrong way around.

Very poor first experience with this company and first impressions count.
I advise you to stay away from this company. I booked a cab today on Sat 5 June 2021 for 14:00. Informed it would pick up between 14:00-14:10. At 14:10 I was informed there were no drivers and to try again. I tried again and told there were no cars available - well don’t confirm a booking in the first place then!!! That is quite a simple strategy to grasp. I booked the cab 1.5 hours in advance so if you can’t work that out then there is no hope for this service.
I ended up getting the train, tube and walking - you can rely on these three modes of transport more Free Now, what a joke they are. A terrible experience. I won’t be using this poor service again.
Oh, and I would appreciate a response from the company, and more so as I am now late for my appointment.
This company are NOT to be trusted.

Some reviews here were written at a time before various taxi services merged and the current app and merged service is very different to what it once was. I am pleased to be able to say that it’s a vast improvement and so far (albeit early days) I am finding it excellent. I’m not sure why the reviews that have been selected to be displayed on the App Store entry at least on my iPhone all are 1*. Certainly there’s a strong preponderance of 5* ratings in the complete set of reviews. It gives a potentially erroneous impression, I think, which is largely what motivated me to write this review right away.

Why can't I amend or update my location once the driver is on his way to pick me up?? Uber, Bolt, Ola, they all allow you this so I don't you?? I booked a cab with Free Now and my driver couldn't get to me because of a police block so I walked towards him but when we met he couldn't start his trip because his Free Now app didn't allow him to click the "arrived" button because it he hadn't at the pick up location yet and I couldn't updated my pick up location as well... Just stupid!! The driver had to leave me in the cast waiting while he run towards the original pick up location so that his app allowed him to click the "arrived" button and start the trip... Ridiculous!!!
It's also ridiculous that the only tipping option is to tip the driver before the trip even starts!!! Why can't I tip the driver after the trip ends like in every other app?? How do I know if I'm going to like the driver or not?? I mean, you wouldn't walk into a restaurant, sit down and immediately tip the waiter even before you order your food, would you?? You definitely need to change this 2 issues straight way!!

I downloaded the app while we were in Italy, it is simple and easy to use but it’s terrible. When using similar apps like Uber and bolt, etc when they give you an estimate, your final fare is within the range, with this app the range estimate they give you when you order the taxi isn’t worth a dime. What actually happens is that a taxi comes to pick you up, starts the meter and then once you arrive, they put in the metered fare that has clocked in and you obviously have to agree to it. If the estimate was a couple of euros out, I wouldn’t care but for some of our trips we paid between 10 and 20 euros over the estimate. What’s the point??? You might as well be like hailo and tell people that you’re just a taxi hailing app or sort out your estimation algorithm so that you don’t feel like you’ve been ripped off.

The final rate is DOUBLE than estimated rate, replied from customer support is unacceptable

We use this app to travel in Spain, and finally we paid DOUBLE than estimated rate.
The estimated rate is 12-17€. The driver complained about the estimated rate is not possible and strongly requested us to pay the money he asked 28€ when we arrived at the destination.
After backed to home, I contacted customer support service and reported this issue. The reply from them is just avoid responsibility. They said it might because traffic jam, extra help from driver or some local city fee. Even told me their developers already calculated all possible path calculation fee and then attach the taxi fee format for me saying you can see from this table which is also in spanish and my app language is not spanish.
I think, if estimated rate is totally not unreliable and they just think it is user‘s problem doesn’t check their taxi fee table in the beginning.
If you don’t want to have a surprise like this. Really disappointed to use this app.

Never use this app again, I will use uber in the future. At least I never paid DOUBLE for the final rate.

Buggy, not what it was

This app has gone through various incarnations, getting worse each time. My main grips:
(1) A few weeks ago payment switched from card to cash. No idea why, or how to fix it. My card details are on the app, and no attempt has been made to alert me to a problem. Drivers tell me this has been happening often lately. It’s really annoying when you get to the end of a journey and are asked for cash, especially when you don’t have any with you!
(2) The ‘Help and contact’ option on the app just takes you to a blank page. No email, phone or URL are shown on the app. They really don’t want you to contact them! If I find a better taxi app I will switch.

I’ve used hailo, mytaxi and now free now for over 4 years on a regular basis (average 10 a month). This is by far the worst app version (hailo being the nicest). Pre-book feature used to work in mytaxi just last month and today I pre-booked a 5am exec taxi to the airport and instead the app suggested 4.35 as 5am was fully booked (?). I chose the suggested time, pressed save and nothing happened, no feedback whatsoever in the app. I waited for the taxi and a notification at the time of booking but again nothing happened and taxi didn’t turn up. I googled and browsed the app website to see if any screenshots of the expected app behaviour but there’s nothing out there to help. This experience has really changed my perception of the app and service and I will not trust it for any pre bookings. I do not recommend using this feature and am considering changing to Uber. Very sad to see what used to be a good app and service change so much over last few years in such a negative way.

Worst travel app available

Been using MyTaxi since I have been in Barcelona, for the first 2 days it was good. I had no problem with using the app to get myself from A to B. But my last couple of holidays I was using it, it crashed and stoped working. I could not use the app, it was constantly freezing and would barley work. I was totally reliant on this app as I don’t speak Spanish and it’s hard to get a taxi in Barcelona as it is. I was always leaving early from the bars so I could get myself home. If this app actually worked I would of been able to enjoy my night life more but, unfortunately it was a let down. For some reason Uber does not work in Barcelona so ‘MyTaxi’ was the back up option. For me it will never be a back up option and forever be one of these apps that could have been, but it has instead ended up really lacking quality in its services. I felt that ‘my taxi’ was a trusted service which I relied on .. however this was not that case and I will certainly not be using this application in future. If only Uber existed in Barcelona, hopefully they will resolve the issue with Uber as this is the superior taxi service as I have realised from using ‘MyTaxi’. Overall, mytaxi has been VERY disappointing, and will not be recommended to any of my clients / friends and relatives.

Beware - a “confirmed booking” isn’t a booking!!!

Basically works the same as Uber except it hails black cabs. HOWEVER, as I’ve now found to my cost on several occasions a booking isn’t a booking at all - either on demand or in advance. I’ve had drivers accept the job in the app and then cancel enroute to me - the app provides no ability to feedback when this happens or blacklist them from future jobs. When you make an advanced booking for say early the next morning to maybe catch a specific train or a flight!!!, you get a message saying “booking confirmed”. This isn’t true - there is no booking made. The job is issued to the mytaxi driver community on demand taking into account the journey time between your pickup and drop off location. If no driver is available, or they accept and then decline the job, you’re in trouble as there’s no time to find an alternative and get to your destination in time. The whole experience reminds me of why Uber made a business to compete with black cabs in the first place. This app doesn’t help. I’m deleting it.

I have tried to use this app three times and each time it has failed!! It was a good start, I requested a taxi, it arrived....brilliant! I went to pay by app but the driver couldn’t find me on his phone so I had to pay cash. Second time I pre-booked a taxi 3 hours in advance. Fifteen minutes before the taxi was due the app told me that it was a busy night but that my booking was top priority. Ten minutes before the taxi was due to arrive the app cancelled the booking because it couldn’t find a taxi, so that was me stuck with a dinner booking and no way of getting there. I went old school and rung a cab.....it arrived in three minutes! Then after my dinner I wanted a return taxi, thought I’d give the app one last try, no it’s a busy night and after ten mins of searching, the app just says no taxis available do you want to retry? No I don’t actually want to waste anymore of my life on this app....old school again, called for a cab, it came in less than five mins and took me home. This app is diabolical if you actually want a taxi to go anywhere, which I guess is it’s main focus. If you are after wasting your life staring at a screen in the hopes that transport might be found for you and having to repeatedly re-request it, then it’s the app for you, fill your boots!!!

This was going to be my first time using this service this evening. I prebooked the taxi - the taxi driver accepted the order and then cancelled. We had to be at an appointment at a certain time so we then had the uncertainty of what would happen. Luckily another driver accepted the fare 5 minutes after the time we were originally going to be picked up for. He didn’t turn up at the location requested but we could see from the app that he was in a car park across the road so we headed over to find he had picked someone else up and told us he was cancelling our journey because we were “late”. So not only had our original taxi cancelled, our replacement had turned up late, in the wrong location and had taken another fare and within 60 seconds had refused us. We then had to scrabble around Berlin and in the end had to end up getting 2 separate taxis (there were 6 of us) and only barely made it. What a truly awful experience and I won’t be using this app again. I have already raised a support ticket for all the good it will do...

First time using the app, I was unaware that I’d have to tap the app to confirm the payment (which was double the estimate). I thought like UBER, the money would automatically be taken from my card (which I had registered). I was then harassed by the driver with calls, I told him it’d do it when I have a few minutes- as I was in a rush and was at work, which he knew. He then went on to call my work (my destination), I was called in and told I had a taxi driver waiting for a payment which was highly embarrassing (this was 20 minutes after my completed trip).I booked the taxi to help save time and reduce stress from my busy morning as I was late. I have now lost money (double the fare estimate) and peace of mind. I now understand why UBER doesn’t allow both the driver and passenger to have direct contact numbers- as this driver now has my home address(pick up location); work address (drop off location); work contact details (he googled?), my contact details(provided by the app). I even feared writing this negative review (and the review I left on the app) because he knows all that information.
I have since blocked his number and deleted the app.
NEVER AGAIN- I’ll stick to UBER thanks

I used to use the app all the time but since the switch from hailo I agree with other reviews it’s appallingly bad.
But only stopped using the app after I had the most bizarre incident whilst in Italy on a work trip recently.
Booked a taxi outside Milan station to avoid queuing, app worked fine and cab arrived.
But to my surprise the driver already had a passenger in the car, a woman or a transgender man/woman in the front seat. He said she was his trainee and tried to get me to take the back seat. She was most definitely a prostitute or something else-def not a trainee driver.
As a woman traveling on my own I need drivers you can trust and feel safe with especially in a foreign country where I don’t speak the language well or know the area. I would def not get in a car with a driver and some other suspicious person and head off into the country side. Awful experience which I reported to mytaxi and got the lamest response.
Happy not to use this app anymore until it’s improved and drivers vetted properly.

A company that provides no customer service

In answer to my previous review (below) I received a terse message from the developer saying that the company MyTaxi provides customer service by email. However this is entirely false. There is no customer service by email- they do not reply to emails. There is no customer service at all, and I believe this is a major, serious flaw with the service. All potential customers should be warned- do not use this app service. If something goes wrong there is no one to contact- and they have your credit card details so they can do what they like and you have absolutely no recourse. There simply is no one you can contact. This company should not be allowed to trade at all on this basis. Providing customer service should be obligatory. All in all, my review is - beware. Do not use this app.
I have been using this app for more than a year and I take up to 3-4 taxis a day and I have spent a great deal of money with them. However I cannot recommend this company, in fact I strongly recommend not using it, because if there is a problem, as I have experienced, the company provides no customer service and doesn’t even have customer service. The company is based in Germany. There is no one to speak to if there is a problem with your account.

I downloaded it in Portugal and used it first time paid cash, second paid by card and the third time couldn’t use it again to pay by card luckily I had enough money on me as I was coming back from the hospital , sent an email and was sorted , used it again and was fine but now since I had credit add it to it can’t pre-book even I’m on the 4 days timeline as it keeps going to today date and now time !!! Already sent email but no reply and as I need it for this early morning I’m thinking I’m going to use another company as can’t risk not having taxi to go airport ! Bit annoying as I have a £5 credit on it that runs out next week so would be perfect to use it now when I need it as at home I have a car !! Please sort it and reply quicker to emails as a taxi is an more or less an immediate need . At moment I wouldn’t recommend it to any one as I wouldn’t want someone else be stuck like I am right now.

I ordered a taxi through this app as I had an early morning flight to catch from Warsaw to London. The fare quoted was in PLN and a range was given which I was happy with. When the journey came to an end the fare was more than double that quoted and I had no way of communicating this in polish to the taxi driver. After complaining about this, mytaxi didn’t understand the concept of making the price clear before booking, offered me 30 PLN voucher and said I could use it again when I’m back in Poland. There’s no proper complaint process or way of escalating it further and they’re getting away with mis-representing prices and misleading customers by not giving them enough information to make an informed choice. They should be held accountable for this. Wouldn’t recommend and will stick with uber, even if I can’t pre-book with them in certain countries!

I’ve previously used Hailo whilst in London and was pleased to find out that My Taxi also works in Sweden.
From the trip to the Hotel it worked fine and I would have given it 5 stars. However, this morning I used it to travel from my Hotel to office and for some reason a completely different car turned up and the estimated fare of a maximum of SEK 88 turned into a fare of SEK 116 (although to be fair that is comparable to the cost of taxis I’ve ordered via the Hotel receptionist previously).
Overall I think the App is very good and I will be using it again - although I’m slightly confused as to what happened this morning with the different car turning up.

Still shockingly bad GPS after so many updates!

I used to love the Hailo app. Whenever I “hailed” a cab with it, the driver could find me very easily since the app told him almost exactly - and I mean exactly - where I was standing.
After so many updates that I’ve lost count, I went to use MyTaxi this evening, having lost faith in its ability to correctly show the cabbie where I am (past attempts have placed me several streets over or even round the corner from my actual location). THERE’S STILL NO IMPROVEMENT! Standing on Euston Road, heading westbound for Marylebone Station, the app placed me on the north side of the impassable road, heading east!
This app is so bad at locating passengers that it’s not worth using. Do yourselves a favour and either revert back to Hailo or get the developers who wrote it to work on your app because until you do, I’ll use the only location device I trust: my hand to wave down a passing cab!

I travel to London for work and previously used the Hailo service and app which was useful as I was able to store frequent journey types, with addresses, eg accommodation to work. In London this week I used the app to call a taxi, I couldn’t find any way of inputting my pickup or drop-off address, or re-using a previous journey to order again. If these function exist, it’s not obvious. There was no estimated fare shown as I hadn’t been able to input a destination, only a minimum fare. A car was quickly found and it “arrived” within a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, he wasn’t at my pickup address but two streets away - presumably where the location finder had decided I was at the point of ordering! This was resolved by telephone call. . The normal fare for this frequent journey with Hailo was approximately £15 however the MyTaxi driver took an unusual route and on the meter the final fare was £22. I do like the convenience of MyTaxi, being able to track where a cab is plus the security of a car registration and named driver but there are glitches to iron out with the app. I’ll give it another go next visit and hope to see improvements in the app.
