Works really well with Yamaha EZ220

This is a really good app for learning notation and key position on an external piano. I have a Yamaha EZ220 and an iON Piano Apprentice and it works with both, though the range is a too large for the small range of the iON Keyboard.

I would say, as a beginner, you need this app to be able to play the in built songs on the Yamaha using the page turner app (rather than looking at the lighted keys)

I've purchased the simple songs, and they are "simple" one handed scores but given the cost well worth the value.

Terrible app

It states that it is made for ipad. But connecting it via midi cable makes it next to rubbish. It has terrible lag which makes it unusable for practice. Wasted money

The basic note reading practise is fine enough, but the score saving doesn't work. Also only 3 very simple practise songs are included. Not useless but could've been much better.

This might be the tool which helps me break through the sight reading barrier. Absolutely brilliant! Makes train journeys fly by - what a great use of time!

Great

Great App. I have used it for a week with an Irig Keys pro board (although you don't need one to use this app) and my site reading and note position skills have improved greatly. I am pretty much a novice at the piano and recommend this App in conjunction with a tutor App for learning the basic skills as there is little or no explanation of what, how and why). The App is flexible and allows you to practice a number of keyboard and site reading elements.

The inclusion of in-App purchases to add song packs is a fair way to sell this and I will be adding them soon with any other packs that come out as you can thoroughly try before you spend your hard earned cash.

I recommend this to anyone who has a passing interest in learning to play a keyboard.

Sight reading aid

I got this app as I needed to brush up on my sight reading, I was constantly stopping to think which note was which. It's great as you can practice anywhere not just at the piano and it helps you to recognise the notes within a few practice sessions. Glad I got it.

I normally don't write reviews, but in this case had to. I feel robbed after spending money for 3 lousy songs - baa baa black sheep, twinkle twinkle and If you're happy and you know it.

Piano Tutor for IPad

This is an excellent app. I am realising that I am a complete beginner after a break of 40 years. It has helped - only negative is that the keyboard is a bit small because of the size of the iPad. Overall : excellent!

The sound does work! This is a flexible app for learning to read the music for both treble and base chefs on the piano. You can see the names of the notes on the left to prompt you if you are stuck, and you need to read the sheet music above and press the right piano key below, just like on a real piano. The key sounds as you press it. You can choose levels of difficulty

Useless as no sound

Just purchased and the sound does not work which is useless for a piano app! I have tried the suggestions for common sound issues but neither resolved the issue and the sound functions fine on other apps I use. Would not recommend this app based on my experience.

Latency?

I've got plenty of music apps on my ipad for music production and none have any noticeable latency. This however has just enough for me to hear. A little off putting at times. But over all a well thought out app and is helpful to learning.

Finally!

I've wanted to learn piano for years but just bought the books and CDs. All worthless unless you know the notes and learning them can be frustrating. I'm so genuinely glad to have found this app. I use it at lunch, before bed, waiting for friends, and I'm finally learning which note is which without needing to write them down.

A Great Help

I've been trying to learn to sightread for a couple of years now, and progress has been slow. This app has definitely improved my reading in a few weeks; it strengthens the link between seeing the printed music, naming the note in your head, and finding it on the keyboard. And with speed and accuracy recorded, you can track your own progress.
