Web access OK, App not enough functionality
Although it’s a great concept Mailchimp has slowly got less user friendly. The app looks the part but I’d actually terrible for doing anything other than sending a basic message. There is no way in the app to add images, blocks or buttons to messages so you have to either stick rigidly to your template or go on to a web browser and create the message first. Also adding which groups of recipients you want to send something to if you use tags is frustrating on the browser and pretty much impossible in the app. Finally generating the web link to your message doesn’t now seem possible, what’s going on Mailchimp??

Not worth it I signed up for the free account and used email templates recommended by them to promote my business. I added all my contacts manually only to have my account removed 48 hrs later. They said I had an illicit account (pornographic). I am a business owner. I have no photos of anything like that. I complained and everything was frozen. They cited the same thing. I asked them to view my emails as no such thing was present and it was absurd. No reply just a generic bot. I then get so many calls, messages etc from random numbers all over the world. By number was the only thing listed with this company. Definitely don’t invest in this. Not worth the time or hassle of trying to recover your data. Find a different email marketing app.

Useless if you get bumped off
Their automated system detected some violation of terms (there was none) in my modest email and that was the end of that. No recourse, and no contact beyond going in circles on their website. I may well think about taking my company business account to a different provider as a consequence of this.

Impossible to Use
I’ve used the web interface for a few years, and needed to send a simple e-mail to a group of people. Unfortunately it’s not possible to format text in the app, nor is it possible to edit subscribers. After an hour or so of frustration with random text selections, keyboard appearances and disappearances, and unintended duplication of text instead of the text box (to try and resolve the disaster of text formatting) I gave up.
Using the web interface on an iPad is no better, so I’ll be sending a late e-mail from my laptop instead. At least that works.

I can’t seem to reply on my original review, the developer put a link up to how to merge tags on desktop, which I can do and use but the feature I can’t see on THE APP so defeats the object of the app if I have to go in on the laptop to do it…

What a wonderful tool. Iv found mail chimp an amazing marketing tool for the launch of our new company and brand Brow Zen UK Cosmetics Store. The free features are perfect for a start up with plenty of options and templates to get started. Iv marked down one start as I found it extremely difficult to get support when I was setting up my account. Although I got set up in the end 🎉 Thank you Mail Chimp I’m loving the service and find the workings relatively simple once you get going. There are also great video tutorial on the platform.

Version 5.4.2 - Unable to link to any file except images
The app is great, it's straightforward to create campaigns, and get stats on engagement. However with update 5.4.2 I cannot link to any file other than an image, all other types are "greyed out". This feature worked previously. A workaround used was to add a button linked to a Dropbox folder.
Unable to contact support to discuss further only available to paid accounts, mine is free.

Great for my startup
Advanture Magazine was born in 2020 and building a mailing list was made very easy with Mail Chimp. We had never collected an email list or written to a mass audience, and it has been a pleasurable experience so far. Have to consider options though as approaching paid plan, it is too expensive.

Warning, Lost Content
This is a great App, especially for a small charity. However, be aware that using the ‘test email’ has caused the loss of hours of work. The content in the email in file was lost and replaced by a message from Mailchimp about doing a reminder email. The content is irrecoverable. Best not to use the test facility.

Good App but no Tag Search
Being able to edit my campaigns on the phone has been mega useful. With the drive to segment an audience using Tags, I now use them as much as possible. It’s disappointing that I can’t search for particular Tags in the app without having to create a whole campaign. This would be a simple but great improvement. Thank you.

Mailchimp mobile app
Terribly difficult to use! The tutorials look and sound great but then half the tabs they refer to in the tutorials are missing on the app and after hours of trying to figure things out to no avail, I’ve decided it’s a waste of time. I would rather go to another provider. Time is precious and I need something simpler and more efficient than this. Sorry guys but nothing adds up! 🥴

Really lacking features
This app is really lacking some features. All I can create is emails and ads. I can’t save a draft email or write a social post. I want to add a mailing list but this isn’t possible in the app. It shows stats etc but doesn’t have the features I need

I’ve always loved Mailchimp!

Poor update
I’m reluctant to give one star as this app has been instrumental in increasing my list of subscribers each month over the last twelve months. The latest update has made this more difficult. I send out a monthly email to subscribers on the 6th of each month, any subscribers signing up after that are tagged as new, and as soon as they have received my automatic Welcome email, I send the new subscribers a copy of the latest email. The last update, however, has made that very difficult. The sort newest contact first no longer works. The total subscribers at the top display new subscribers but I cannot find who they are on the phone or tablet. I have tried oldest contact first then newest first, but it lists the latest subscriber as 13 June. If I sign-in on the web version, I can still sort, but then it's not as easy to find out what they have received. Please can this be corrected so this application can once again get five stars?

Worth every penny when matched to Magento.
I have been using a different self hosted mail system that is significantly cheaper than MailChimp but had no end of issues with it.
I turned to Mailchimp as a temporary fix until I could sort something more “affordable” out as a long term solution. NO NEED.!!!
Once using it and creating my own templates saved for future use, set my typical brand colours, logo etc I was hooked on the simplicity of it all. Not only that, once I had it set up I synced all my Magento data so I can now feature products off my website so easy, it’s a dream. Customer data and subscription status all set up easy too. Amazing and worth every penny of what I pay each month.

App does not match desktop experience
Most basic functionality is straightforward but changing a campaign image or subject line for an ongoing RSS campaign non existent in the app. If you use the same basic format for an ongoing campaign you’ll be good to go

It’s a Challenge !
Starting to use MailChimp is a doddle. From the off, composing an email, setting up an audience and checking reports was relatively painless. However, in my early seventies, extending use of its features is much more of a challenge. But in these days of responsible data use, when it’s far too easy to reveal everybody’s email by putting it in the “wrong” box, MailChimp is a delight.
I have to commend its constant helpful suggestions. I also am grateful that it is free of charge to small organizations such as my own, with no visible means of financial support.

App / Mobile Devices very Poor
The app, and web login on an iPad is really poor. I can’t edit text properly, especially on the app. When you go to delete or highlight text, there is are undo a ten second delay. You also can’t insert tags on the app. Not impressed.
Also, I can see the developers blanket response is to simply contact them with screenshots, why the hell should we??? You should read these reviews and look into it yourself!

Good but update not quite fully working
Good, useful app for checking campaigns on the go and easily re-sending, but the opening home screen fails to load. Not a huge problem as it is easy to navigate instead to reports or campaigns but it seems a bit of an oversight.

Would not recommend/bad experience
I’ve tried both mobile and desktop and I cannot send a simply email or create and publish a pop up form. I find it very complicated. And I’ve attempted atleast 5 times to getting round to designing an email or pop form. Stuck to this day. I would not recommend this after a bad experience.
Not to mention, I’ve had to search up ways on how to use Mailchimp...not getting anywhere

*edit* it’s a year since I wrote the review below and still the app doesn’t work!!! It’s just spools. What a waste of time and energy.
I'm having the same problem as some of the other users listed here and can't log onto the app. I just get a notification "login does not have a verified phone" - I've logged in previously so hope this is a blip as it's a useful little app.

Cannot edit mail content easily
As soon as an email goes past a certain length, you cannot see what you are typing as it won’t scroll down. Such a silly bug, but needs to be fixed ASAP.

Fine on desktop, rubbish on mobile
Trying to create and edit any email on an iPhone using this app is useless. It’s got worse since the last release. Please sort it out, MailChimp, as it could be a lovely little app.
