I have been using Uber for a long time now. In the past customer service was reliable. Over the last year I had 2 incidents with uber eats, first one I had to wait for nearly 2 hours for the driver and when I contacted them to cancel they said you are free to cancel but you will be charged though, otherwise you have to keep waiting and case was closed even before my reply!!!!
Yesterday the driver hasn’t got the right order and he went back to the restaurant to pick up my order and never showed up again!!! I was charged for that order and when I contact the customer service they replied after 3 hours saying that my order isn’t eligible for refund as the system showed the driver waited for me long time to pick up the order!!! Even though after I told them what really happened.
Zero star
I will escalate this and won’t definitely use this app again!!!!!

Then booked a ride on a separate occasion for £31 with 3 stops and with no changes made on the app, half way through the ride our final stop was cancelled again with no explanation. Hopefully the app can be made more reliable and the fares corrected to reflect the actual overall charge.

This is such a rip off company. You get charged thinking it’s a certain amount and then they charge you more after the trip saying something like longer route taken or traffic. They don’t notify you in the app but send an email. Their surcharge prices are also ridiculous where they’re charging double. Customer service on the phone line is also shockingly bad.

I booked a 5/6 seat van in Mallorca for 5 persons . It was double the price of a 4 seat car but as we wanted all 5 of us to travel together we selected the van. A 4 seat car turned up and as such could only take part of the group. We were charged the rate of the van. So the car that turned up was not the right number plate or type of car I was told would be coming. Since then I have been arguing with Uber and not getting anywhere. This is a complete abuse of customer rights. I do not mind having a dispute but they do not listen to anything I have to say.
Be careful with Uber, just another big company who you cannot call and who just fobs you off!

Version 3.609.10002
I’m disabled and have mobility problems which mean I’m often stuck in the house and very isolated. Uber’s service with the different options available has been a lifesaver for me and means I’m able to get out of the house safely and on time. I can rely on them to pick me up when they say they will, their drivers are all really helpful but their assist option offers extra peace of mind that my mobility aids can be accommodated and that the driver will help me out if I get into difficulties. Overall it’s a great service whether you’re disabled or not, clear pricing options, timings and type of vehicle to choose from, with the added option to split the fee if you’re travelling in a group, brilliant after a night out.

Unable to use service after creating account.
Uber says I am linked to multiple accounts and “takes fraudulent activity very seriously”. The second account is Uber Eays, Whitchurch I did not register.
Still unable to confirm a pick up/use service.
In the last 32 days, I have deleted and reinstalled the app. I have tried to use service on laptop and cleared cookies. Uber still says it’s my (new) phone, clear cookies, delete reinstall app.
Since then, Uber has said the restriction has been lifted and issue resolved
BUT,
1. I missed my flight as unable to get Uber for transport.
2. I was left stranded as public transport were not in use and was relying on Uber and unable to use the service
3. Still unable to use service and am not asked by Uber to do the same things I have been doing since issue was first “escalated” by Uber over one month ago.

Mohammed picked me up at around 4 this morning from A&E’s entrance where I’d spent a gruelling 12 hours being grilled by dr’s, assessment nurses, psychiatrists and procured my prescription of choice. Filled with Nottingham’s sick, ill and dying, full of fear, waiting patiently and finally walking out to a foul January morning wondering still if they’d got it right, it needed a certain calibre of man who knew when it was right to speak and more importantly, when. I was in no mood for idle chit chat. From the off, the Uber app just works. I love it. The AandE receptionist’s kindly showed me the brilliant impacting immediate messaging service pin pointing the EXACT location and EXACT time of arrival. From the off, it was only 2 mins, a choice of vehicles - and amazingly cheap considering I live 5 miles away, it’s the only thing around in the middle of the night - I easily could expect a way higher fee - helps to random my exhaustion, fear, and simply just needing to be home for under a tenner is simply fantastic. I’m aware of Uber’s competition and in the past, I’ve actually had accounts with them - but something changed and I no longer used DG, only something I’ve always worked for many years, which is Uber. If I could give Uber 100 seats, I would. Fantastic company.

Money grabbing.

Version 3.597.10000
Felt really sick after work on Thursday at around 4pm so I ordered an uber to take me home instead of getting the train, I was given a price of £16 and a waiting time of 7 minutes so I ordered the uber. AFTER I had paid, the waiting time then changed to ‘longer wait’ but I wasn’t to bothered about waiting another 5 minutes, it then changed again to ‘trying to find you a driver.’ After around 10 minutes of waiting uber completely cancelled my order without giving me any notification, I only realised because I went on to the app to see if there was any updates on where my uber was. I was mad they had cancelled my first uber but I still needed to get home and the train I could’ve gotten on had passed by now while I was waiting for my uber, so I went on to order another uber only to see they had DOUBLED the price for the same journey. The price was originally £16 and they had put it up to £32, for the exact same journey and the apparent reasoning for this was because the area was busy. Now I understand an extra £5 if it’s busy, but to CANCEL my original order for no reason and then DOUBLE the price is absolutely ridiculous and money grabbing. I then had to wait for my money to be refunded from the first order and ended up having to wait 30 minutes for the train because I refuse to pay £32 for a £16 journey. I do not recommend uber and won’t be using it again, just book a taxi. Uber is not reliable and clearly changes their prices whenever they feel like it.

Version 3.577.10001
Abroad, Uber have linked to the company itTaxi to rely on for requested trips. This company has the worst online reviews of any company I have ever seen, full of reports of scams and even physical assaults. My personal experience involved a scam of 27 euros that Uber will absolutely not help me with, even after charging my card. Despite arranging the journey for you and charging you directly, Uber claim no responsibility.
I placed 3 phone calls to Uber and two messages via the help centre, and each time I was given no help. The man on the phone actually hung up on me, quoting “there is nothing further I can do so I will be ending this call”, similarly both messages in the help centre were given “we will stop replying to this chat since there is nothing further we can do”. How is that customer service at all? In no sense was I given any form of help, I was simply ignored. The advisors in the help centre all offer different forms of advise and no one is cooperative. One person says my details of the trip will be forwarded and the other team will help, the next person says they will not be forwarded, then again someone else says they have already been forwarded, then finally someone goes they have not been. What sort of customer training is this? Just beyond appalling.

This is the second time i’ve ever used uber, the last was 4 days ago at 4:20am in liverpool. I admit it’s more of a city thing but today was in my home village of little sutton. I’m now forever going to open my uber app every time i need a taxi. It’s honestly 1000,000 times better and cheaper. At 4:20am in liverpool it’s a true nightmare to get a taxi home which would cost £60 plus £4 upfront for the tunnel tole and would have to go through countless taxi’s first. £39 total cost and he was with me in 1 minute, today took 8 mins, but it’s a village and i tracked the taxi to pick up. £6 which would have been £10 in a taxi with a unknown wait. Both drivers were really nice. Be a decent customer and give the driver a few quid tip in cash, they do pay less dues than the local taxi company but do deserve it. I had a great chat with the the one today and the last one had some bangin tunes on which he turned up loud on reqest. All hail uber. Down with kingkabs.

Version 3.556.10002
It all started on a chilly Autumn evening, my friend and I had been waiting for various other taxis that we had booked with local taxi firms, but to no avail. The rest of the group had left for the club, leaving Dan and myself to fend for ourselves. As the night grew longer, and our beer jackets began to loosen, we needed a hero. Dan took the initiative and got on to the App Store. Who could we trust with the simple job of getting us from A to B? Uber, and more specifically (spoiler alert), Muhammad. Within three and a half minutes, Dan got a call, and Muhammad had arrived. We placed down our half full (half empty?) beers and entered the vehicle. Muhammad stopped us right there and insisted we grabbed the beers and took them with us, he wanted us to have a good night, almost as much as we did. A journey full of anecdotes and laughs lasted for approximately ten to twelve minutes, and I was honestly sad to see the lights of the club in the horizon. Muhammad was a joy to be around, a free spirit, and without him, Dan and I would have been stranded on the streets of Leeds, for what could have been the rest of our lives. Uber isn't just a taxi service and this isn't just an app. Muhammad was a soldier of the night, and Uber was his General. I will never forget the 26th September 2015, thank you Uber, take care x

I actually made an account with Uber years ago but haven’t used it for a long time. I re downloaded the app 2 weeks ago and used it for a one off trip. Last night, while I was asleep, my bank notified me that 3 payments had been declined, for Uber * cash, for £225. This was not me. I see that identities etc are shared with other companies when looking at the info below, so one of these companies may be involved in fraud. I have never had this problem before and do not believe this is a coincidence. It wouldn’t let me delete my payment method on the app, only change the bank details, so I’ve had to sign out and delete the app and hope I do not get money taken out of my account, from whoever is doing this. More privacy and checks need to be done by Uber.
However, there was no issues with my trip, I was slightly charged more than what was predicted but I knew that was the case, but I was charged waiting time, the driver didn’t wait at all and this extra money got refunded to my Uber wallet straight away. I didn’t see an option for it to be refunded to my bank account annoyingly.
Driver and car was fine.

Extremely unreliable company. They take zero responsibility for their faults and do not care about their users. Drivers keep asking you to cancel and never show up. They’ll say they’re stuck in traffic even when there’s zero traffic. They wait for you to cancel and then you get charged. Even if you don’t get charged, you still lose time waiting for the driver to arrive when they have no intention showing up. The last time I used this app was for a ride that would take me to the train station for an international trip. The rider kept driving further away from the meet-up point and started asking me to cancel because he was “stuck in traffic” at 8 o’clock on a Sunday morning with ZERO traffic. Although I had requested the Uber well in advance, my partner and I lost so much time waiting that we had to literally run to the station because we couldn’t afford waiting for another ride and almost missed our train. The temperature was -7 Celsius and after arriving at the station I got symptoms of exercise induced asthma that lasted for days. I asked for a compensation for this horrible experience that ruined the start of my partner’s birthday and got nothing in return without any apology or explanation. Horrible app, horrible customer service-best to avoid. I’ve deleted the app as well as Uber eats. Never using again!

I took an uber home that originally came to £24 the next day i had an “updated receipt” of £64 as they had charged me a £40 cleaning fee. As i had no idea why they had done this, as i had no food or drink with me in the car and i left it exactly as it was when i got in, i was appalled by this and rang customer service straight away. When they answered they were absolutely awful, the lady who i was on the call to was laughing with her co worker about my situation and told me someone would be in touch the next day to resolve my issue. 2 days pass and no one has been in touch. I call them again and eventually they tell me the reason i was charged £40 was because i had got the car seat wet from the rain. They refused to send me the receipt from this “deep clean” the car so badly needed from some RAIN WATER, and their “evidence picture” was a completely different car to the one i was in. They were cocky on the phone and completely unprofessional. I will never be using this company again and i advice you not to aswell unless you want to pay to clean up £40+ on an imaginary mess.

Version 3.539.10003
I’ve been using Uber for many years. Recently I travelled to Barcelona and used Uber for a few times. In 2 days I got scammed 3 times by different drivers. They accepted the request but never intended to show up. 2 of them drove more and more away from me and didn’t pick up my call. 1 directly called me and ask me to cancel the trip without giving the reason. For the first 2 trips I cancelled after waited over 1 hour and didn’t get charged. For the last trip after 1 hour’s waiting the driver started the trip without picking up me and drove to the destination alone. I cancelled the trip but still got charged by the full fee. I have requested the refund from Uber but haven’t received it yet.
Uber needs to deal with those scammers more seriously as they barely have any consequences by the fraudulent activities. As a customer, on the other hand, I wasted both money and time for some service I never had, which seems really unfair.
I hope Uber could penalise the drive if they couldn’t arrive at the meeting point for a long time (e.g. 30 minutes). And ban drivers with fraudulent actions permanently to maintain a healthy community.

We have been using app for a long time and more and more often one problem appears. Becoming almost “normal”that request is accepted, estimating waiting time is 4 minutes and suddenly after few minutes of waiting it become even more (eg. 5) then you waiting a few more, and more… to see that:
1. driver has CANCELED on your trip. This should not be allowed. How they can cancel on client? This is already well known issue and people start to believe they cannot rely on UBER. Can you please do something about it.
2. It’s also very unethical practice that after cancelling when you search again trip is becoming more and more expensive! (I assume system is estimating based on demand and you are creating demand on your own searching many times. This isn’t right. Will give your competitors full rights to win the battle.
3. Destination is not the same as stop. Destination by default is where you will end your journey, stop (that is drop off) is tweet you supposed to stop on your way to your destination! App is not working like that(I was recently told when driver went around, didn’t drop the passenger on his way. Fix your all. It should work out what is the best way to go (and where to stop) to not pay double. It’s using gps, is not hard. Also those names are misleading if destination is understand by you (app!) as a first stop. This not what “destination” is.

After arriving at our destination we realised that we left our bag with documents behind. We kept calling the driver over and over for next several hours but he did not respond. We got in touch with Uber and they “got in touch” with the driver but he “didn’t” find anything. We asked them to look again as we were going on a cruise and needed our documents but they came back to us saying that there isn’t anything that they can do. We missed our cruise. Once we found hotel and settled in we remembered that we had an AirTag in our bag. It was clear that bag was on the move and eventually arrived at certain addresses where it stayed overnight. We got in touch with Uber again and told them that we can see where our bag is and gave them the address. Guess what? Suddenly the bag that wasn’t with the driver “appeared” and he gave us a call to tell us that he is bringing it over! Not only we missed a cruise and it could have been easily avoided as we had 2h to get our documents back but we had to spend extra money on the hotel. I believe that customer service agent never bothered to get in touch with the driver rather than him lying about the bag. Thank you very much uber

Please do not use, especially if you are on a budget or a bit strapped for cash, I have heard a few stories about this company, and now I believe them after my experience with Uber. I ordered a taxi on the app and waited for 45 minutes, no one came, and the money had been taken from my account, I spoke to the customer support on the phone and he was quite friendly and said the money would be in my account within a month, I still haven’t seen the money, I thought I would give them a second chance, so again I ordered a taxi on the app, I waited 25 minutes this time and decided to cancel it, which came with a cancellation fee, the control these drivers have over surrounding areas in terms of transport is immoral, I am sure they take advantage of the apps algorithm by multiple drivers saying they are not available in busy areas which then activates the system/app to charge much more than the standard prices due to demand. This company is clearly built on greed, I find it scary that technology allows these companies to fleece our wallets as easy as that. I usually don’t leave reviews in-fact I never have, but please please be aware, I have heard some positive stories, I think Uber seems to favour those who joined the app when it first started as their ratings will be marked as higher and they are a long term user, not a good time to join the app, get a taxi, much cheaper. Shambolic.

How is it possible that I have anything to do with traffic or road closure and please explain what control do customers have over such a thing or hold any responsibility to end up being charged for it. It is outrageous!! Nobody wants to get home sooner than me, therefore traffic and rerouting ARE indeed an inconvenience for me too. How should I be charged for it? I am the one going the long way to a pick up point when the driver moves it to his convenience and I’m the one being charged for it. The hell!!?!!?? Wasn’t I the one waiting for the Uber? I should be the one charging for the not-so-up-to-date location of the driver. And is Uber going to pay for my cracked iPhone screen that fell on the road when I was literally ushed out the cab? Of course not! Then why on earth should we pay all the extra nonsense that they charge when a price was settled upfront and you’re supposed to have real time info to base the trip estimation on? Uber holds the handle, that’s why. Well, I’m now deleting the app, I’ve had enough of such unlawful and abusive scammers.

The final straw happened two weeks ago when a driver agreed to deliver a parcel for me to an address and instead stole the parcel. I reported it to the ‘Customer Service team’ who put me in contact with the driver and he refused to return the parcel (I have all the text messages to prove it)
I updated the ‘Customer Service Team’ that their driver has refused and I need their help, to this day the driver still has my parcel, I have not been offered a solution or refund, nor have the ‘Customer Service Team’ even had the decency to reply to me and I’ve been waiting 10 days.
I remember when Uber was a great service however these days something has changed and the service is AWFUL!! From this point I will delete the app and use Bolt instead. From taxis getting cancel last minute, pick up times are off, pick up points means nothing, the rudeness of some drivers and clearly their Head Office don’t care.

Uber is not what it used to be anymore after covid! Now they have full of unprofessional drivers who: ( below are all my true experience! Why I gave up Uber completely now!) 1. Dropped you off in the middle of nowhere when there was a road block or traffic and they don’t want to waste time on you! 2. Refused to take you to the destination because you changed to a different address 5 minutes drive away from the original one! And the change was made before you got on the car! And you have to cancel to get charged 5 pounds! 3. Dropped you off to a tube station nearby and told you to go by tube and still charged you the same full amount!! 4 having a fierce fight over phone with their wives while driving and when you politely ask them to quiet down they got totally mad and unprofessional at you! 5. Arrived and wait for 30 second then cancelled right at your face! ( think they got a must better rate from another quote ) 6 stopped at 2 minutes walk away from the meeting point! And when asked specifically to come close they refused!!! When you are travelling with an injured friend you both had to walk to be able to get into the car! UBER has unfortunately took a 180 degree turn from being a top class client friendly app to a dodgy app full of trash drivers who probably lost their previous jobs as a homeless!

I used to be a big fan of Uber but recently I’ve been cancelled on so many times - I had a very important 45 minute journey which I scheduled 24 hours in advance for 6am the next morning which Uber accepted. They cancelled on me at 5:58 saying they couldn’t fulfil it, 2 minutes before I was meant to leave. They also took a holding amount which was significant out of my account the second I scheduled it - they should only take it when a driver has picked you up, it’s ludicrous. I had to get a black cab which was not easy where I live but from now on I’ll be using the black cab app as at least they are reliable and have a real person you can speak with to ensure they’ll turn up. I’ve also been cancelled on for shorter trips late at night when trying to get home and having to wait outside alone as a girl while being cancelled on multiple times is just dangerous. I’ve had this problem for years now and won’t be using Uber again.

When I first used Uber I thought it was a very good service. However as time has gone on I have noticed that although there are a lot more Uber cars/drivers, the ease of catching an Uber has actually decreased.
There seems to be a big underlying issue here. It seems like every tom, dick and harry is running an uber car, wether they provide rides or not to the public. Possible they could be do a ride here or there over a week rather than going out all day, all week etc. Some cherry picking and cancelling will be taking place. Also it jas to be said the Uber driver personnel are becoming more and more ominous in driving and character. I had one driver shouting angrily at me as I climbed in with 2 young children who were frightened. Also when driving my own car I have noticed Uber drivers go incredibly slowly at weird times, and often totally inconsiderate of other road user, lost in their own little bubbles, or actively trying to block or get in the way of other road users! This is in London by the way. And waiting for an Uber is becoming an unpleasant experience to say the least, unreliable and worrying. Something very strange with the Uber driver culture as well.

Uber has a terrible cancel culture. How and why is it a norm that a professional service can accept a transaction and then just cancel when they want? It’s outrageous and I don’t think the public have to put up with it anymore. If a person is waiting and trusting that a service will deliver at 1am after waiting for 10-15 minutes for it to be accepted, the last thing they should expect is to then be cancelled on. If an Uber driver has accepted a trip, which includes accepting the price and the director, they SHOULD NOT be allowed to cancel. If they do, they get fined £5 and it goes to the person they cancelled on. It’s unacceptable. Uber drivers just cancel over and over and over again. I’m tired of it, and I’m not accepting it anymore. Imagine sitting on a plane to fly somewhere and the pilot says “No, don’t fancy it”. So, after many years with Uber, today I am deleting my account. Prices are so high anyways, it cost me the same amount to get home last Saturday (£50 for a 22 mins journey) as it would have if I got a black cab in London. So my business is going back to those boys.

Usually Uber is good and I don’t mind it quick rides and all that however, one ride that I ordered the driver was driving recklessly and speeding over bumps and just generally a dangerous driver and his driving make me
Very motion sick and I was sick in his car but most of it was on the step up on the door way so not a lot went on the acc fabric of his seats. Then a couple of days later I get money £80 removed from my account form Uber with no consent form my half just bomb gone so then I contact them explaining my situation loads and loads of time and constantly getting switched form department and after days of arguing they just stop contacting me saying that there’s nothing they can do, so even tho the driver is in the wrong I still have to pay….yeah seems pretty fair system you got there like if there one thing I can say to everyone it’s to have a car on there that has nothing is so they can’t charge you money if your ever in the same situation that I found myself in. In all Uber handled my situation poorly with no compensation to me just a fine that was caused by his driving.

I have been a very good customer for the past few years. Especially during this pandemic where I have been using Uber daily to commute rather than tfl. This past month the prices have gone crazy and jumps from one minute to the other. Today I have been waiting over an hour to book a cab as I refuse to pay Four times the usual amount. Even at Christmas most cab places only charge double so I don’t see how Uber can justify that. I finally managed to book one at my normal rate and when the driver got onto my road, he cancelled!!! Then when I tried to book another one £5 turned into £20!!!!! It’s not my fault the driver cancelled and the price was already agreed so I don’t see why I should have to pay that. I spoke to customer service who just repeated over and over that due to high demand the prices may vary. Wasn’t helpful at all and did not see where I was coming from. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he just put me on hold for 10 mins then came back saying no one is available. I asked for him to put a note for someone to call me and he murmured and then said if there is nothing else thank you for calling. I am discusted!!

I’ve had the same issue with Uber for 3 YEARS wi and I have contacted them tens of times and have never gotten the issue fixed. Was told 5-10 different reasons my account wasn’t working, my billing address, my card, my account, then this month I emailed again and I have been told they will now permanently deactivate my account due to a breach in terms and conditions. I’ve used Uber 1 time and had 5 star review, 3 years ago. No fraud. No issue. Uber support team were absolutely useless and actually cried on the phone to one of them, due to the fact I’m moving to a big city on my own next month and need a reliable taxi company for my safety, they told me they can’t tell me why I have been given a LIFETIME BAN, can’t allow me to lodge a complaint, and can’t tell me why I have breached terms and conditions. I know for a fact that I have never ever ever breached any terms and conditions.
There has clearly been an issue in their system and the outcome has been me receiving this ban.
Am absolutely APPALLED by the way I have been treated by this company and will be telling everyone I know not to order any more Ubers.

I agree with the review I just read - pick up times are a major problem. They are inaccurate. Also, sometimes I want the fastest pick up time possible and when I type in my ride details, some driver 15m away accepts the job and I have to cancel and restart so I can hopefully find someone quicker and the same driver keeps rebooking the job which is completely annoying. There needs to be some mechanism where you can say why you’re cancelling the job - ie. wait time too long - to invite the possibility of anyone else accepting the job or being open to a new, quicker pick up time when another driver is finishing a trip locally or just starting their shift, to be able to pick up the job. Some way of indicating that you’re in a rush would be good !!! Tonight I was in a rush and had to wait 25 minutes for an Uber, from a central London location, where I am sure more Ubers were driving past, but once someone accepts my ride I am locked in. And they were finishing a trip and dropping someone off still. I don’t want to have to wait for that driver, I definitely want to be open to a quicker pick up.
And the time was given as, for example, 5 minutes , and the 5 doesn’t go down for 15 minutes and then the 4 lasts for 3 minutes etc. Can you review this aspect ? Thanks. Otherwise great.

I used to like this app, I really helped me out when I missed my bus or couldn’t get on because the bus was full. Are used to like the fact that I gave you an estimated price so if you decided to go a different rout for what the Uber GPS said and still get charged a reasonable amount. But now it is a set price and you can only go with the GPS says that the GPS isn’t always right, sometimes it will take a completely different way which is way too long and will make me get late even if I go very early. Then I’ll have the driver say “the GPS is calculating traffic jams and stuff like that” I know the route into my work I know when it’s going to be traffic so I know what time is the schools are always take that route.
This is very frustrating and I’m starting to think about uninstalling this app, Uber you need to get your act together because this is atrocious :(
You should give us the option to chose the different routes we can take so we can select the route that is most likely one we want, most of the time the route that is suggested is too long and a waste of time

So I’ve had good experiences with this app and also really bad one, the good ones are based on just normal service, get picked up get dropped off. But it’s the bad ones that shine stronger with this service. Reason for my review today is just overall being fed up with the way the app works. I live close to the city centre just a 10 min walk but on days that we have bags or days that it’s raining it’s nice to be able to click a button and have a taxi arrive. Tonight I waited 10 mins for the app to show me 15 different drivers that were between 1-10 mins away and each time it showed me how close they were, I could see the actual taxi but the trip got declined. After the £6 taken out of my account 15 mins later it told me it was now £8, and I went ahead and paid it but still the exact thing happened, all the taxis so close but none of them wanted to pick me up because the trip is so short. They are not taxi rank taxis that have to wait in a queue and lose their place for a trip that’s not worth it, they’re free roam taxis that were all in different areas.
The part I don’t agree with on this app is that after the 10 time of the trip being declined there should be a must deliver option so they don’t let us down. I understand that it’s a short trip but come on, £8 for a 3 min drive why should we have to wait for that.

I use Uber since the beginning. What once was an outstanding service, became a nightmare the last times I had to use. 2 times drivers kept saying to go to a “pick up point” and refused to say where was the location. After 3 minutes, cancelled the ride to collect fee and get another passenger. The last one did that to me 2 days ago in Stratford at 1 in the morning. After working 17 hours, he put the phone down on me and refused to answer the phone again. His instructions to this pick up point was “left hand side”. Of What, genius????
And the worse one was in September. I pre-ordered a big car to take me to my WEDDING (emergency drive as the car that was going to take me broke the night before, bad luck). The guy called me and said he was at my door. I told him I was going out and the he was taking me to my wedding. My photographer and bridesmaid spoke with the guy outside and asked him to wait 5 minutes. The guy simply cancelled the ride as I was coming out of my house. My bridesmaid order another one and guess what, the same guy showed up. Town hall almost cancelled my wedding because of this delay.
The other one was that my mother forgot her glasses and Uber didn’t even tried to give it back. Costumer support inexistent, no phone, no email, no reply.

Really frustratingly disappointed so I finished work at 10pm last night and Uber can’t use my bank card all of a sudden so I had to get my partner to book me one, when it arrived I kindly asked the driver if he could wait 5minutes as the member of staff taking over from me hadn’t arrived yet, he said yes no problem I’ll wait. So at 10:06pm as soon as they arrive the Uber driver leaves and charges me approx £5 and messages sorry but I was waiting for ten minutes. So Uber charged me for a taxi I never got in, and I had to walk 40minutes home when if my Uber driver waited 1more minute I could’ve got home in 15 minutes. My partner put a message on his app saying he hadn’t had the taxi and wants a refund and Uber messaged back he’d get a refund but it would take up to an hour, the next morning still no refund. Personally I think ubers services are appalling how you can just take money out of people accounts when they never got to use the service is a joke and saying you’ll give a refund then never do is exploitation as you app is impossible to speak to an actual person it just daylight robbery. Will never use or advise anyone to use this service.

I used to love using this app but recently it has become shocking, first of all I get charged for trips I haven’t even made as the driver cancelled them? How is that ok to do, then when I ring up to resolve the fact they have not only took payment for this trip they then take it twice? I finally got this refunded after an hour of arguing over the phone to the customer service! a week or so after me and my partner decided to give them a try again however this was a BIG mistake the driver accepted the trip to them message us saying we’re too far? Why accept the trip to begin with and to top it all off he wanted us to cancel the trip!! Knowing fully well we would be charged for that, the driver then began to argue with us as we said we was not cancelling the trip as he knows it charges and that he should cancel it as he shouldn’t accept the trip in the first place. He began to then drive further away from where we was with shocking attitude! i began to try and ring the driver and all he did was hang up!! How can you as a massive company allow drivers like this? I have deleted all forms of this app and so has my partner as we are beyond shocked with the behaviour of some of the drivers within this company, I will not ever be using this app again and I will also be informing family and friends to not use them too, I’ll be sticking to the good old taxi company’s from now on.

I live in London and it’s been a few months now (maybe even longer) that almost every single time I order Uber I get drivers cancelling for no reason, either right away or sometimes after a few minutes, this happens several times and it results with me having to wait 10-20 min to get picked up. My main reasons for ordering Uber is because I’m either running late for something, terrible weather condition or I’m just exhausted which having to wait that long to get in your taxi can be really frustrating. I don’t understand if we as clients get charged a fee why don’t drivers get some sort of repercussions for cancelling as well, or maybe fix the app so a client doesn’t get several cancellations in a row. Another issue that this causes is that sometimes when it’s busy you get a fee rate but then after your driver cancels and you try to rebook I realise there’s a surcharge or surcharge increases which is really unfair you get one estimate and they keep increasing because your drivers are cancelling, so not only do you have to wait but you’re also getting charged extra.
I’ve been taking black cabs instead of Uber now and probably will continue to do so until those issues have been fixed.

The ability to get help when there is a problem is outrageous.
It is difficult to begin with to find help options that aren’t generic articles. Then when you can write to someone, the quality of service is deadly. I am, ludicrously, trying to tip a driver after a trip when the ‘pop up’ in app has disappeared. Not only does this appear to be impossible to do in app, via email or via web, I’ve asked for support and have had a couple of generic, bot written, emails telling me to add it in the app, via email, or via their site with no information on HOW to do this given the complete absence of these options is why I asked for support to begin with. I’ve shared endless screenshots of what I’ve got to outline the problem, and the support team have now begun marking my problem as ‘resolved’ without answering me to get it out of their queues presumably. Hilariously this always pops up with an ask to ‘rate my support experience’ which when I click on it leads to the messages and a pop up box asking whether I still need help on this issue or something else - not really a rating.
Tearing my hair out - this shouldn’t be rocket science!!

My wife and I were in Lille France for the great Braderie antiques fair 30th of August to 1st September we couldn’t take our Motorhome because there was height restrictions on car park barriers so we decided to use Uber who we always use all over Europe and have never had a problem with except yesterday Sunday 1st sept our driver bidal picked us up at a campsite at Aubers about 30 kilometres from the Antiques fair we paid asking price and he said he would come back for us because it was a nightmare with cancelled buses etc, we agreed a price of 30 euros and arranged a place to be picked up and contacted him for 45 minutes telling him we were waiting outside Novotel hotel and he just didn’t reply with one text message or did he answer his phone no matter how many times we tried he just stranded us there after 50 minutes we had to walk about a mile to the metro get a long tram ride to Saint Philibert then phone for another Uber car which came swiftly the drivers name was Honourae who was great and understanding. It took us nearly two hours to get back to base where we missed a dinner engagement. We think Uber should vet there drivers a bit better. We also think Bidal realised he wasn’t going to make enough money with what we agreed on so he couldn’t be bothered. Thanks Bidal you ruined the start of our holiday.

Recent changes make it worse!

I noticed a couple of changes throughout the first half of the year that make the service significantly worse - for ones the algorithm that used to connect the customer to the driver has changed and now seems to be based on a matching process no longer driven by proximity. I assume this is driven by the wish to guarantee a certain number of jobs throughout the day to drivers, but this certainly happens at the expense of customers (and drivers alike) as I had more cancellations now from drivers where it would be inconvenient to drive into my direction.
Secondly the pre booking functions is gone, probably driven by the above change in job-distribution, significantly restrict the functionality of Uber's services.
Lastly, I no longer receive a notifications once the driver has arrived, making the 2 minutes waiting time a laugh (I still receive the first connection notification, confirmation of estimated arrival time, sometime (!) the 2 minute warning until arriving but no longer the "your driver has arrived" notification) - please fix this or people will almost certainly consider other services!

Usually I love Uber but my experiences recently have changed my mind. I used Uber while on holiday in Albufeira and was pleasantly surprised at the low rates, little did I know the low price was paralleled with low customer service. I ordered an Uber after a night on the strip with my friend. She has cerebral palsy and has difficulty walking. All we did was get in the car and Manuel our driver shouted “get out!!”. I have never been so confused and apalled in my life. We are used to people being disrespectful towards us and making rude remarks but never have we ever been denied a service that we paid for. I asked him why he wanted us to leave and all he did was shout at us again and again telling us to get out. He drove us to the end of the strip and threatened to call the police if we did not get out of his car. I was fuming and told him to call the police as we had nothing wrong but we got out anyway to avoid further issues as he was being very demanding. Then to put the cherry on top he proceeds to drive as if we were on our trip and charged me €4.88! I was not aware that we had to pay for harassment. Maybe things are different in Portugal. I am trying to report the issue to Uber and am having great difficulty so have decided to leave a review and maybe that will get me my Euros back.

I was involved in an incident where I felt I had to leave the car before the journey started. As soon as I left the car I realised my bag was still inside. I went to open the car and the driver began to drive away. I said “I’ve left my bag” but the driver (having clearly heard this) continued to drive. I sprinted after the car for at least 100 metres in slow traffic. For the most part being right next to the driver. Shouting at the top of my voice “my bag” he just looked at me and drove away. At 4 am I was stranded with no wallet or house keys. I called Uber and after 2 hours of being on hold or cut off. I was finally told it was being treated as a lost item and the driver had 72 hours to return my belongings to an office where I will have to go to collect them. I was charged for the booking. I’m still currently without house keys, wallet and car keys and it seems Uber have very little sympathy in regards to the situation I am in because of one of their drivers. No one I speak to there after the barrage of phone calls I have made. Seems to actually care. They are just bumbling on about procedures and such. I am appalled at their reaction to such a serious incident. I hope people are aware that Uber will immediately try and cover themselves if a partner/driver’s behaviour results in loss or damage to their customers’ property.

I really wanted to like this app. I downloaded it on my Holidays (Spain). I booked the taxi to take us to Marbella. For what ever reason the taxi driver went the wrong way, even though the pick up point was clearly displayed. Next thing the taxi was cancelled.I booked another taxi and the same driver picked me up ten minutes later. The price quoted was £13. I clarified this with the driver to which he agreed. When I arrived at my destination I paid him cash, like you do with any other taxi, I even tipped him and gave him a good review. One hour later I received an email saying that 23 euro(20 euro fair plus 3 euros cancellation charge)had been deducted from my PayPal account. So what was a 13 euro fair turned into a 33 euro 5.6KM trip. It was probably my fault, but why is the app a mine field of hidden charges. Why did the driver lead me to believe I should pay by cash! I seriously felt like I’d been mugged. I sent a query and no one has gotten back to me. And to top it off the euro to GBP is lousy. I caught a bus back. Total fair 1 Euro 95 c. I’ll be deleted the app. Shame really it could have such potential.
Update: Uber have refunded me the fair. So I can’t really complain. I will give them another try:)

Shocking.

I tried signing up to Uber, keeping in mind that I have never had an account with them, to find my details blocked from the app, Uber, which I though was very strange to find out my information was being used for an account I didn’t not know about or used. After contacting Uber’s help service via email, they responded in a different language asking me to translate my email into their language. Following that, I then asked for my information to be unlinked from the account that was in use (obviously for safety reasons) which took a total of 6 days. Then my number seemed to be blocked from Uber too, which I also had to ask to be unblocked so I could sign up to Uber, which took a total of four days. After unlinking and unblocking my details and information. To finally think I can successfully create an Uber account on the app, I was terribly wrong. After reading the terms and conditions and policies, which to add takes a very long time, was instructions state, so clicked the arrow below confirming that I agree with the terms&conditions etc. to find that it’s won’t even load onto the next stage of signing up. So in total it had taken me 11 days to not even fully be able to create and access an Uber riding account. I fully believe I have wasted time in trying and is not worth all of the hassle.

Estimated arrival time needs to improve!

So we’ve been using Uber a couple of times a day whilst on holiday in the US. Literally every single time the estimated car arrival time is out by a great deal. Just now when confirming a trip, we did so based on the 4 minute away estimation of the nearest car. We waited outside our hotel for more like 14 minutes before the car actually got there. First the time went up to 5 minutes then to 7 minutes, then it just stayed 6 minutes for a few minutes and slowly started going back down again (not in a real-time minute counter but Uber’s much slower minute counter). There wasn’t really much traffic on the street so I don’t understand how can the estimation be out by this much. I would much prefer to know the actual estimated arrival time as opposed to standing by the road like an idiot. I definitely would have dried my hair this morning if I knew about the extra 10 minutes wait time, instead I was standing on the windy roadside for quarter of an hour with my wet hair. And this was pretty much the same with each ride ordered I’ve the past 10 days. Anywhere between double to triple the amount of estimated car arrival time we had to wait, not cool. Please make your app more accurate. For now I’m going to switch to Lyft for the last 4 days if our trip and see if they do a better estimation job. It’s just a shame as otherwise Uber would be a service I’d use and recommend more...

THIS HAPPENS TOO MANY TIMES! The last time I left Uber, it was for a whole year if not more. It’s not fair that when a driver can’t find you, or when a driver is late and you can’t wait anymore because you are standing in the rain and have to go, or Uber suddenly finds a driver 15-20mins later when you are already at your destination ( I could go on), that you cannot cancel a trip without being charged! Last time, my driver got lost and I was on the phone to him giving him directions, standing in heavy rain after I had to walk back to the pick up point, he got so rude and cancelled the trip and I’m the one that got charged! Today, Uber suddenly found a cab after I had already walked half way home in the rain! The. The driver couldn’t find me. When I was finally on this trip and got home, I was charged almost £10 for a less than 5minute drive without traffic! How is this fair? Besides being able to see, i know this because driving hone from work use to take me 5mins!
There has to be a way that everyone is held accountable for their own end of the problem. Do drivers get charged when they cancel? Because they do, a lot. I am so disappointed and so angry that I am very much considering going back to normal cabs. I have no patience for unfair systems and I believe I have been overcharged or charged for a service not used too many times!

Drivers can rate badly for no reason with no explanation

Version 3.329.10002
My rating has been dropping recently and I’m super polite, on time and friendly and don’t talk too much or back seat drive. If I give less than five stars I have to explain why, but drivers don’t! If they’re giving less than five it should be for a proper reason, not because I’ve talked too much/not enough/been talking to my friend etc. I’m now on 4.41 and I’ve never been late/sick/rude over the years. Some drivers won’t pick up people below 4.5 so it’s going to render the app useless if it carries on like this. Lots of my friends are having the same issue. One friend got out the other day after a pleasant chat with the driver and she saw him type in three stars!? Why?!
Also trips get cancelled far too often with no penalty to the driver! They have all the power now and it’s really frustrating. They are going to do themselves out of business if this harsh rating and 4.5 limit carries on like this.

The concept of not having to carry cash, updates re driver location and ability to see who your driver is and rate them is good. The location of the taxi is disputable and has often stated taxi is 5 minutes away and I’m still waiting 15 minutes later. Ordered a taxi to pick up from Birmingham Arcadian carpark. Said taxi was 2 minutes away. So walked from the restaurant to the location. By the time I arrived it stated taxi was 5 minutes away. Then a notification flashed on my screen that £4.25 had been taken from my account for cancelling the taxi. I DIDN'T CANCEL THE TAXI and was annoyed as you can imagine. So I was not happy that a cancellation fee was incorrectly taken. Went into the app to try and contact for a refund. The only option for a refund was for the money to be stored in my Uber account towards my next trip. I want the money back as it was taken when I didn’t cancel it. I drive and don’t use Uber very often now so the fact the money was not refunded to my card annoyed the hell out of me. I probably won’t use them again now. Or no doubt if I do, the money they claim is in my account won’t be put towards the trip. Sort it out UBER and charge accordingly. No number / email to contact anyone so it’s hard to to sort out any problems you encounter.

If the App looks great and is easy to use, if the concept is great and the prices perfect (for usage in London mostly, even when prices are bumped up in high demand times), the App uses a lot of battery (I run an iPhone, with a new battery) when searching for a driver and it is not uncommon to have the drivers cancelling. This happened to my family, friends and me on many occasions, last night once again, few cancellations in a row, which can leave the person ordering in a very, very awkward position (as it happened many times to ladies family and friends, or me). This sounds like a small issue, yet, when you rely on a safe means of transport to get home and this happens, it is very enticing to go back to Black Cabs and Minicabs...
And if London’s Uber drivers I have encounters so far are always very polite, the cars clean and the service good (with a couple of exceptions over the years), Paris’s one has been a real disappointment (dirty cars, bad driving, no sense of the direction and knowledge of the city and sometimes not even the registered driver).
That point of multiple cancellations should really be reviewed, as it won’t be long before we shift to another service provider...

Meh

Booking a car is easy enough but the overall experience not so much. There is no way to contact the driver. The pricing structure lacks transparency and seems to be based on how much battery you have left on your phone and your handset make. Why give me a price range? I want a fixed price. Otherwise, I might as well book a mini cab or a normal taxi and not giving Uber a carte blanche charging me whatever they want.
Arriving at Manchester Terminal 2, the app told us to go to the short term parking on level 3. There is a level C but no level 3. The confusion led us to go back to the ground floor and asking staff before returning to level C.
Looking at the app map animation, I could see the driver driving around and around although, I was not able to contact him. The driver claimed he tried to contact me although my phone never rang. He apologetically explained that he had just dropped somebody off at the usual drop off point which was further down the road when he accepted our trip but claimed he struggled to find us. To pick up passengers from the short term parking, he had to pay £4 on leaving. This extra cost was understandably but annoyingly then added to our bill. Why could the app not inform me that I would save money by walking 50 meters and be picked up outside the parking house?

I have not used Uber extensively in London, but when I have used them, there has been no problem, I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes, and the cost is very reasonable. All the drivers have been very polite and friendly and we have had some really good conversations.
My last driver was really good because he got me to City Airport from Woolwich Arsenal, when I found out that the DLR line was closed at the weekend, and I was still able to catch my flight. If he hadn’t taken a sort cut to join the approach to the Blackwall Tunnel at the nearest point and we had queued on the approach road instead, we would never have made it in time.
He was from Nigeria, but had lived in London for many years. It helped that I had visited Nigeria many times on business, so we had plenty to talk about, but all of the drivers I have used have been equally interesting to talk to. It helps to pass the time and get me to my destination on time!

Uber cancellation system is a rip-off

I was in a hurry because I was late. I ordered a car from uber because it estimated arrival in 3 minuets. After I ordered the estimate change to 8 minutes; then 15 minutes. I was around the corner outside a mini cab firm called south west cars . The controller told me a car would be available in 5 minutes but I thought uber would be more reliable. When the estimated time of arrival changed to 15 minutes. I cancelled the car from uber. I got a message from the driver who said too far. I texted back and said I couldn’t wait. I took the mimi cab and got to the appointment on time.
Then I got the nasty uber special. It chargers me £6 for letting me down. This is the fourth time uber has done it to me. The other times are even more ridiculous. On one occasion the uber car stopped across the road, facing the wrong direction. After a few minutes I went across the road and ask if the car was for me. The driver said it was but it had been cancelled and refused to take me. I had to order another car and of course I got the uber rip off as usual. The good news is that uber has so far refunded the cancellation charge but it is so time consuming, stressful and avoidable.

I really really wish that I didn’t have to use this company. The app itself is so inaccurate, the pick up points are off, the waiting and can arrival times are off and it seems to allow drivers to accept a new fare before finishing the one they’re on without letting the customer know so the map just shows the cab stationary or spinning around and the arrival time keeps jumping around. I’m not sure what kind of checks they do on their drivers but they need more. We’ve had racist drivers, rude drivers, drivers that try to go in the wrong direction in order to ramp up the fare. Drivers have cancelled jobs because they didn’t want to transport bags or whatever we’ve been carrying or didn’t want to find a way around road works. 9/10 of the drivers don’t turn into cul de sacs or side roads and I regularly have to walk at least 2 mins to get to the Uber car and when you’re older or have any mobility issues this is not easy. Whenever I’ve tried to contact help they are less then helpful and only seem to supply scripted responses... “we’re sorry this happened” “your feedback is important to us” and on the odd occasion they might refund a fare but nothing seems to change.

The app is generally good, but there seem to be 2 problems.
The worst of these is that very often a driver seems to be allowed to accept a job whilst on the way somewhere else - and somewhere further away, not on the way towards me. And even though UBER knows this, they keep it a secret from us users so we don’t have the necessary info to decide whether to accept this situation. Let me clarify. I open the app and I see drivers very close, presumably they are available, right, or why else show me. The driver that accepts might be 3 minutes away, but then he is 4 minutes away, and then I watch as he drives further and further away. The point is that now if I cancel, I will get charged! This cannot be the best way to do this! If UBER had told me that this driver has not made his drop off yet, I could have chosen whether to accept or not. But they don’t seem to like me choosing.
Also, the pickup points are always at least 20-30 metres away from where I am, but sometimes more, so when I try to change the pickup point, it tells me that it is outside the area! And I have not taken a single step since switching on the app! So do I cancel? Or do I walk?

The cleaning fee charge - Proof tab

Uber need to put in place a better system to prove when someone is causing damage during a journey. I had a bitter experience when I realised that I was charged £80 for someone’s misbehaviour resulting in paying the cleaning fee. There is no step for users to access before getting charged - to prove that this incidence was not caused during your ride. The problem is any drivers can report an incident by taking a picture and Uber will of course charge user straight away but without verifying whether the incident happened in your ride OR IN THE RIDE NEXT AFTER (Which was my case). Should there be cameras in the cars then? Or should user of Uber App take a picture after each ride to dispute the false accusation? How frustrating now trying to resolve that problem through the app on “help” tab which can take up to days before a problem can be resolved. In the app, Uber won’t hesitate to show us the facts: images of the damage which was vomit all over the place. How nice to see someone else intoxication when again this was not caused in your ride. Why cannot we have a message inbox involving both the driver and a third party from Uber to resolve an issue quicker. Until now this problem is still not resolved and I have pay for someone misconduct.

*EDIT* It’s nice to know that Uber like to regurgitate its replies as a ‘one size fits all’ response. However, it doesn’t detract from the fact that we had a deeply horrible experience. As someone travelling home alone, I found my driver to be aggressive and intimidating. I can give you his details, Uber, but it’s made nervous about using your service again. Couple that with the fact you can’t get one. So it’s almost a loose- loose situation that I don’t want to find myself in. I use a black cab app now, it was such a personable and safe experience. Nuff said.
********************************
It’s weird, since the whole ‘getting rid of Uber’ thing in London, then the subsequent reversal of plans, Uber’s massively gone down in terms of service/price/time efficiency. Everyone I know is saying it. I ordered an Uber X this evening and waited 20mins, 5 different drivers popped up. Then nobody ever turned up. It never used to be like that. I hate to say it- black cabs are safer, more reliable, quicker and are THE SAME PRICE. Sorry, not hard to argue. Also, the last two times I’ve been in an Uber, the guys been nasty and weird. It’s a shame because there are a lot of hard working Uber drivers out there. Still, wouldn’t use anymore. I don’t trust it and it’s takes way too long to use.

I have been using Uber for three years now, my son works in the city of London and had been raving about the service delivered by Uber drivers for quite a while. I used a local firm but every time I booked in advance the cab would come late or not at all, so I decided to try an Uber car. The service since I started using Uber has been first class and it is so easy to book a car and I have been in a variety of cars, all have been first rate, five star service throughout and the prices are very reasonable. Oh I forgot to mention, I am a wheelchair use having lost my leg in 2014, Uber can provide special vehicles for wheelchair customers but I have never found the need to use them, I can get myself into the front of all the vehicles generally used by Uber
and once the drivers understand how my wheelchair fold up it’s minutes before we are on our way.
Uber really is fantastic, a welcome
addition to London’s transport system. Why don’t YOU give them a go.

I'm currently in Vietnam for a few months and was advised to get uber or grab taxi for local transport, I thought uber being the most familiar that I would use it. In practice the app for me is terrible, it asks repeatedly for me to verify my phone number and once the app is open the page to verify my phone number never appears, plus it rejects my card method of payment. Customer services say this is my bank not authorising international transactions but grab taxi works just fine, and also has the option to pay a certain amount of money in exchange for credits so your rides are already paid for in one go until you top your credits up again. So it's not my bank that's the problem, it's uber. Everyone around me, at least, finds uber frustrating and expensive compared to fares on grab taxi which I only learned existed a few days ago, but is far better than uber and does exactly the same thing just in a more efficient and user friendly manner. My first ride with uber worked fine as I paid cash, but now it wants me to verify cards that I don't even want to pay with for security reasons and won't even accept the card details and simply says "invalid" (nothing more because that would be too useful...) even if I wanted to use uber I can't, so if anyone has any issues I recommend grab, it's exactly the same service and works more smoothly (for me at least)

At times frustrating.

Uber at times can be amazing as it's a cheap reliable way to travel. Have taken probably hundreds of uber trips now however, recently there has been an issue for me as it seems that there is a constant surcharge every time I want to go anywhere making my journey way to expensive. For example getting to work used to cost £6 now it says surcharge £15-18 because it's popular but that could be a Monday night at 10pm I doubt it's that popular. It's actually become cheaper to just hail a black cab or use conventional taxi firms which is a shame because I really did like using uber before. As well as this I've had a few drivers say it's been hard to find me as when you select where your location is and put the pin down it doesn't matter where you put it on a street the address is always the same just a generic house number e.g. 12 for every house on the street.
If uber could sort the pricing problem I would highly recommend them but unfortunately charging almost 3x the usual price has just completely eliminated them as an option for me anymore. A cap on surcharge pricing would be a helpful solution.
