Broken app after update

It was a great app, until the last update.

I had to delete the app, as looks the softphone Ap provided by acrobats conflicted with this.

I have now to reconfigure wich is not nice.

Please do regression testing before releasing.

No Apple Watch support!!!

Disappointed to see that Apple Watch integration is limited to a simple notification indicating that the app is receiving a call. No way to answer the call, no caller id until the call has ended.

Poor multi-call management

The app is mostly good, but it's poor at switching between multiple calls. The UI for switching between calls is buggy (and bad), and it frequently drops calls that have been put on hold.

Excellent voip client

Push notifications works flawlessly whilst keeping battery usage to a minimum. Works with my Bluetooth headset also. Would prefer DND doesn’t log missed calls. Just discovered it does support Apple Watch notifications, needs switching on in the preferences

AVOID - harvests credentials and phones home with them

My VoIP provider keeps logs of connection attempts. The logs show the expected attempts from my own network... and several unexpected attempts from IP addresses used by Acrobits. The only way that could have happened is if the application surreptitiously harvested the credentials and phoned home with them.

Such a privacy and security violation would be bad enough in a free app, but Groundwire isn't free. I paid cold hard cash for it and have an expectation of privacy. Looks like I'll be in the market for an alternative.

iPad app?

The app runs well on the iPad bit is looks like it is running some sort of compatibility mode on the iPad. Please scale it so that it uses the whole screen. The same could be said about the soft keyboard. I think the small iOS keyboard looks a little lost compared to the one the iPad provides.

The Best!

A very rare App Store review from me. I migrated my, ‘had it forever’ UK BT landline number to Sipgate Basic that has zero ongoing charges after the one-off migration fee. I bought a Siemens Gigaset IP phone (also the best) for the house for exclusively incoming & outgoing international calls and Groundwire app for my iPhone 7 enabling me to take calls on my home number wherever I am in the world. Fantastic app; keep up the good work.

Good if you don’t mind using your ipad in portrait mode

The compatibility section lists the latest ipads - but what it doesn’t tell you is that it will not work in landscape mode. I want to use my ipad in either mode, but mainly landscape yet virtually all these softphone apps are stuck in portrait. Why???

Annoying that it cost a tenner to find out.

The app is great to use. One thing people keep saying when I call them is that the line sometime drops in and out and sounds crackerly. Any ideas how to fix this?

Please make usable with Apple Watch! Then app will be 100% for me. Much better than Brian. Don't bother with Brian.. Used it for 4 years, that is before discover this far superior VOIP app. Barely uses any battery and doesn't hold VOIP calls when a cell call comes in, unlike Bria.

Groundwire is the best app for background notifications and works better than a lot of subscription based monthly apps. I’m another unhappy Bria customer because it fails to ring etc and miss so many calls but Groundwire is amazingly simple to register and use!

The best Softphone app by a long shot

Been using Bria for many years for our business. That is UNTIL now. Came across Groundwire and it is outstanding, the push feature works perfect and never misses a call. Therefore because it works with push it has no effect on the battery.

It’s a shame I hadn’t come across this app years ago.

Well done guys.

Just need to sort a slight bug with speaker phone staying on with some incoming calls. But I have already contacted customer service who replied within 24 hours saying a fix should be on the way soon as they are aware of the bug.

All in all a great app and well worth the money.

The best VoIP app out there

I have tried about 30 voip apps both paid and free. None of them worked properly or they would drain my phone battery in under an hour. This app is the only one that worked. It is easy to set up and has no effect on the battery. Definitely the best voip app out there. Well worth the price.

Actually works

I tried almost all the free SIP apps, and then a trial of Bria and had no luck (I almost gave up on iOS SIPs altogether).

With ground wire it really is native, when you get a call it’s just like a regular call even when you close down the app as if some other server is taking care of the job and not the app and sending it to apple. This is more evident because after the call the app remains unopened, it’s the only app I’ve ever seen that is like this — it’s comparable to sending WhatsApp messages on the iOS messaging service.

Far better than Bria

Have had to stop recommending Bria to my cloud Voip customers since they moved to their subscription model that promises features at extra cost that are included for the one-off fee for Groundwire. However, I wish I had found Groundwire years ago because it performs so much better, especially when it comes to incoming calls. Doesn’t matter whether the app is in foreground mode, background mode, in lock-screen mode or even not yet started, this app will ring as normal, just needing a swipe to answer. None of the notification banner, fingerprint or passcode entry, that Bria has which means you almost inevitably miss the call with all the messing about. And the battery life isn’t affected too much - brilliant, I’m happy with the user interface, very similar to native iPhone app.

Used to be good now rubbish

Something has been changed on this app have had to have our support out several times - not connecting and now evertime my screen lock comes on the app closes - the settings apparently removed on the update to stop this. Working from home and I cannot use my phone for anything else as it closes app now. Working in sales I have missed calls and I'm fed up with it, it's draining my battery - I have to take the lock screen and change to never sleep to keep app running. VPN is always timing out and when I'm working you don't check your phone every 5 minutes to see if it's connected. In trouble with work have to just divert calls to my mobile now app is useless!

The best VOIP app on iOS

This is the best SIP app your phone will ever have and it integrates into the phones calling system as if it was a regular call inbound or outbound. Other apps are useless and don't do this plus they need to be running to get calls. This app works like magic.

I really have tried all other VoIP apps and this one is the best without question.

It may be expensive and initially I really didn't want to pay but now I think it was very much worth it. The developers are very good and the app is always updated.

ZRTP is a requirement for secure calls but only if your provider supports it.

Brilliant app and awesome customer service

This app is brilliant and works perfectly. It also doesn't drain your battery as your device doesn't always maintain a connection to the SIP server (they maintain it through their proxy and ping your device via push if a call comes through). It's also got support for a custom HTTP API for text messaging and their customer support was awesome at helping me implement a server for this. My only complaint is the somewhat outdated UI. Would you mind making it look more like WhatsApp or FB messenger?

Problematic

Same issues as almost all iOS sip apps I've tried which is to say inconsistent network performance (regularly won't connect to the provider), dropped calls, amateur interface design (the keypad is just all over the place on my 6S Plus) and basically something you can never fully rely on. Disappointed. Refunded.

Best voip app!

Best voip app in the app store, and I've tried them all. Love the push notifications, multiple accounts, different codecs for different accounts, lots of options, very flexible. Update: it would be nice if I could answer an incoming VoIP call without having to unlock my iPhone, just like a native call. Update 2: thank you so much!! Callkit integration in iOS 10 allows just that now! I've been waiting for this for about 5 years! Now it's perfect! Thank you 😊

Great App, Great Support

Simply the best VoIP softphone app you can get and well worth the money.

Built in configurations for popular VoIP providers make it a doddle to set up. The softphone itself works remarkably well. The call quality is superb and even acceptable over 3G with the G.729 codec you can buy as an in-app purchase. The push notification feature means you don’t have to kill your battery to make sure you always get incoming calls. If you're interested in privacy, the ZRTP in-app purchase works well.

The support team is very responsive and helps you quickly work around any issues you might encounter.

Bug report & Suggested feature

Suggested Feature: The ability to delete multiple recordings without losing the record of the call person/date/time. I have mine set to record all calls. The data files are getting very big. Having to go through and delete each one individually takes 3 actions which is laborious.

Bug: When creating a new contact from an incoming call record, it is not possible to ‘Add Field’. ‘Add Field’ shows no options. Currently I have to go back to the contact after it has been created to ‘Add Field’.

I use this as my main phone

I use this app constantly for office calls, customer calls, conference calls and personal calls both from a home office and when travelling. It has never let me down and is worth paying fully for including the in app options. The incoming call notification is reliable. Sound quality is best when used with wired headset and higher bandwidth codec.

Okay, I admit I baulked at the price a little, but this is a seriously good app. We use voip for all our calls and this is easy to set up and works brillianly.

You can make/receive calls on your voip account and hold/transfer to another number.

Vey nice, But....

The new version is great, leaps and bounds ahead of anyone else.

Would be great is there was an option for built in BLF.

I use this on my Asterisk server with TCP enabled so have backgrounding working perfectly to my own server.

Video quality on local Lan is perfect, not had a chance to test between remote lans.

A few observations...ie. bugs,

If I dial voicemail, video starts up, if i click to disable video it goes away, but reappears as soon as I press any digits to navigate voicemail.

All my SIP settings dissapeared when I did a reboot, this was supposed to be fixed in the new version.

Lose a second or two when establishing calls, seems to establish call before sound is ready.

Auto switching to hands free speakerphone is very sluggish. Used to be perfect several versions ago.

Other than these few small bugs, I'd say... I love this App

Best on the Market

If you have been making VoIP/SIP calls for a while and you have an account with existing provider or even have your own SIP server this is the best sip client app on the Market money can buy. Definitely worth the money especially if you are using sip for business calls.

It is also worth getting the G729 codec for (in app purchase) quality 3G calls.

It really is worth paying for

No questions, just buy it if you ALREADY HAVE a VoIP provider.

It's fantastic! Multiple "lines" call recording, forwarding, conferencing blah blah. And for a bit more money you can have full call encryption for that extra piece of mind.

Don't worry if you're not a technophobe, as long as you know your account and password then most known VoIP providers are listed and in two shakes of a lambs tail, you're up and running!

Then it's down to your personal preferences, look, ring, operation etc. The only thing you need to "think" about is how you want it to behave in the background. But again, it's five minutes well spent to understand why, like me, when you rang it, nothing happened! It's not a fault, it's just down to your settings and Push notifications.

My company is a great supporter of VoIP and new telecoms technology, and all iPhones will have Groundwire installed as standard.

It's a no brainer - any business using VoIP or household, would be a fool not to use this.

It's like having one of those multi-line office phones (that we have!) without the office (and cable!!)

Ps, the You Tube "how to" videos are excellent and designed to be used in portrait screen display on iPhone - a piece of genius out of box thinking!

Works very nicely on brief tests

Haven't given this a hard trial yet, but it does what I wanted very nicely on my quick tests.

Have used it on 3G and remote wifi to dial extensions on my (Freeswitch) PBX without trouble. At least, without any more trouble than the configuration of VoIP through firewalls normally causes :-)

If, over time, it keeps performing this well when tested with longer calls, I'd happily give it five stars. A bit pricey as an iPhone app, but very cheap as a phone!

Brilliant

I use this with a Sipgate UK account and it works perfectly. And the push notification is great - the call just comes in more or less as normal The only thing I had to do was alter my voicemail settings as I had it set to go straight to voicemail if off line and that wouldn't allow the Acrobits server to get the necessary notification. I left the App in the background overnight and it used about one third of the battery in eight hours. I reckon that's pretty good. Of course YMMV!
