4 years disappeared

I’ve had a subscription for 4 years and all issues disappeared overnight and the app won’t restore them.
And despite having an active subscription until next year it now wants £3.99 for the latest issue! Please can you sort this or my subscription won’t be making 5 years!

Canceling my subscription.

Not impressed in the slightest with the app and the magazine. I used to read T3 for a while when it first came out and then left for a few years. I’m also not a stranger to Future Publishing having read their Amiga magazine back in the 90s which were great. But sadly things have changed for the worse in these modern tech times.
For a start two issues have had glaring errors, from using the wrong pictures for the brand being reviewed and this latest Summer edition telling me Apple sell Airpods Pro from Apple.com for £187.99. There's so many silly little errors it get tedious reading, I got so annoyed I just had to quit. I don't think anyone proof reeds anymore.
As for the app itself, on the 11” iPad Pro it doesn't use full screen, theres huge wasted borders around the entire screen, no way to zoom in or go full screen. Scrolling is annoying, constant stuttering and glitching, it looks and feels terrible. I will stick to the print copy thats if I can be bothered reading it again.

Awful in IPad Pro 12.9

Absolutely awful in iPad Pro 12.9! So I have this amazing screen, perfect to read a magazine and tour magazine does not use all the real estate, showing it quite small and filling the rest of the screen in black!!!??? Absolute disregard for the customer experience, totally unbelievable! Worst magazine experience on iPad!

Not bad but could be better

Enjoy gadget content. The ,amazing itself is fine apart from the ‘best of the best’ 15 page waste each month. Am sure that could be packed into, less pages to enable more original content as it does not change hugely until from month to month.
Also on a 12.9 iPad the app does not fit the screen when in the magazine like the landing area of the app does. Is this just me ? .. have checked updates or if there was a newer ‘pro’ app. Seems could / should be a simple win on that score.

Portrait View Only

Great mag let down by this app. You can only view the content in portrait mode and it doesn’t fill the screen on my 12.9” iPad Pro. It has obviously been designed for the smaller iPads.

Terrible app

Good content but truly terrible app. The worst amongst the mainstream publications - it does not use the whole screen to display the magazine and the links within the mag or scrolling are clunky. It’s been like this for over a year but Future Publishing ltd.(developers) do not seem to care. Pity they will lose subscribers.

Great mag let down by poor app

I’ve been a subscriber for many years both paper and laterly digital. The content of the magazine is mostly good although some of the scores seem arbitrary and I still question how certain items can have a ‘coolness’ factor.
The app itself is the let down. Frequently the app crashes when turning pages or at least hangs for a good period of time and then turns five pages at once. It shouldn’t be my hardware, or that in itself is bad design, as I have the latest edition iPad Pro. The navigation is inventive and more fun than the average magazine. In recent months, and this is my main gripe, the magazine only fills a subsection of the screen so it loses a good inch of real estate all around.

Tiny view

Since the recent app update, the magazine view shrinks to a tiny portion of the screen on an iPad. Won’t ever buy a copy again, need a magnifying glass to read it. Very weird as the app is full screen until you open a magazine edition.

Not as good as I remember

Haven’t bought a copy for a while and this month’s was released during lockdown so must have been difficult to do. However, there really wasn’t very much in it for the price and several of the articles had images that weren’t relating to the product under review.
The app worked OK though.

Would be great if they bothered to remove bugs

How an app from a Tech magazine can be left with known bugs beggars belief, T3 you should be ashamed. Frequently gets stuck downloading an issue after which that issue is forever “queued” and the download can never be completed or cancelled. T3’s own help acknowledges this bug but suggests deleting and reinstalling app to clear the problem, which it doesn’t! Apart from this annoying problem it’s a pretty good way to read the magazine.

Bland and boring.
Every page just looks like an advert/promotion.
No longer a magazine layout.
Have to keep scrolling down annoyingly to find whats below, no info to let you know what to scroll down for, and just a tiny grey arrow to let you know you need to scroll down.

Unpleasant to use

Movement both around a page and between articles has noticeable time lags, and is awkward to navigate. For me it’s such a poor UX I would have preferred a simple pdf version. Stop saying ‘smarts’ ALL THE TIME

It’s like T3 is trying too hard to be cool. It would be OK if the word was used conservatively, but apparently, everything has ‘smarts’ in it now. Well of course it does - it’s technology. The ‘coolness/innovation/features’ scale is completely arbitrary and sounds like the product of a tired brainstorm meeting. Why colour them green/yellow/red too? Does your art director not think a colour scale usually reserved for good/medium/bad inappropriate in this case? Also pretty much every item rated in this manner has the same rating, making it even more arbitrary. Who cares what ‘coolness’ rating a router has? But apparently it has one. Also a shame you can’t read in landscape. Other than that, a great read! And glad they’ve got rid of the absurdly sexist front covers.

Accidental in app purchases.

Remove the compete your collection button that sits just above all the other buttons. I managed to accidentally purchase it after pressing for library and hadn’t even realised when my thumb managed to complete the purchase... have it as a separate option. I hadn’t even realised what I purchased at the time as I just clicked to download one of the issues I get with my subscription and went to go to the library...

Good content, bad app

T3 has some good content and useful information/reviews about gadgets and technology. However the app is not great, so where possible I would suggest purchasing a hard copy of the magazine. The app only allows you to read the magazine in portrait rather than landscape. Adverts keep popping up and worst of all something called PriceHawker keeps appearing in the inbox. I'm not interested in PriceHawker or any other advert. I just want to read the magazine. And the app is way too complicated. A magazine app should be simple: download the issue and read. Then return to the main homepage and download the next issue. Read, repeat. This is not because it's trying to be too clever. Make it simple, get rid of the adverts, allow both landscape and portrait viewing and this would be a great app.

Great app. Amazing

Love it! Great for not wasting paper but doing in in a functional way by adding loads interactivity from scrolling to opening the internet and way cooler things in the future. My ONLY complaint, hence the one star off, is the lack of landscape mode but I can see that may be a problem because of the scrolling but is still annoying to an iPad Pro and keyboard user. Great app, thanks.

Get stuff

If you can actually get the magazine to download when you subscribe you'll have the same issue when you resubscribe. If like me you have tried to get refund because you've not received your issues you'll be disappointed as T3 have refused to send a refund. Impressed

It took me a while to 'like' the digital concept of not having a physical magazine. However my 128Gb of storage on the iPad Air 2 makes complete sense of it. I like being able to dip into the magazines and although with T3 there not so much extra content, the readability of it is excellent. Any interesting bits can be screenshot and shared wherever, and I no longer have piles of magazines taking space. On a holiday I don't have to carry mags or books. I am a digital convert, and being digital it is cheaper. Win win!

Previously this app was fully interactive on the iPhone but now oddly it is just PDF of the printed copy. Total backwards step in terms of functionality and usage of the large iPhone 6 Plus screen. Why have they done this? I will be asking for a refund!

New app. Better app.

Installed the latest app. Library contents required re-downloading, but as I remove them once read (I can download again if I want) what does it matter. Then I couldn't re-register because the app reported unknown registration information. What did I do, did I review the app with one star and complain no, I contacted future publishing support by email got a response within 24hours, problem sorted, loaded the app downloaded the mags I wanted to read and started reading. The app is as good as always, like the new washing line view, and really like the favourites. Thanks again to paddy on tech support, your prompt help is much appreciated. I wasn't sure the app could be improved, but I was pleasantly surprised. I rarely give five 5 stars for anything, and as I have only read one issue on the new app, but wanted to give some well deserved positive feedback I think 4 stars is fair.

Latest release does not work

As a print subscriber I have used this app for some time. The latest release promised great things but it wiped out my downloads and didn't allow me to login (I can on the website) or register. I called up the help line, but they are print focused and although very helpful had to point me to an e-mail address.
The e-mail address gives and out of office which Isn't a great start. After a day things kicked into action and a very helpful guy called Paddy walks you through the process (the app uses a user name not your e-mail to login in).
Once in the app is great fun with lots of interactivity, it's imaginative and brings a new dimension to the magazine. The complexity of getting in (it could be easier) and some of the manoeuvring keep this at 4 rather than 5 stars.

Almost spot on

Guys this app is almost spot on but there are just some minor yet very annoying features that would vastly improve the overall experience. My biggest gripe is when the screen goes into standby. If I have to put my iPad down and do something quickly, forcing the screen into standby, I then have to go back and reopen the issue and find the page I left at. Similarly if I wanted to multitask, ie there was a particular review I liked and I wanted to visit the website (hyperlink would be nice) when I shift over to another app, when I come back to T3 I have to find the page again, unless of purse I bookmarked it first and even then it just gives me the title page, I want to go right back to where I left off. fix this and it's 5 stars from me

Best Magazine App available!

I've downloaded several magazine applications to date and T3 provides the most interactive and readable solution I've found. The ability to "click" on links like you would on the web is great, much better than the other magazines where you simply scroll page by page. Although it does take a little used to before you get the hang of it. You can however download T3 using other magazine apps but the experience is not as good. Do I recommend it? yes. does it work? Yes, Are some of the other reviews just rants? yes in my humble opinion. Download it and try for yourself, make up your own mind.

Great mag

Well I downloaded the magazine with some trepidation and felt my worst fears were justified when I was left with 14 blurred pages and some portions missing completely. I contacted customer support and expected nothing back given it was Christmas but found them fantastic. David got back to me quickly after every message and explained that problems seem to exist when the I pad goes into sleep mode, indeed mine had done this. I deleted the copy and then downloaded again making sure to keep tapping the screen. This is the key and after doing this it's perfect. Took about 10 minutes with the latest version of the app and 5.0.1 on my I pad 2. The magazine itself is even better than the print version with video and some digital extras and it looks fantastic. A bargain at less than £2 an issue.

Technical Support Excellence

Interesting reading some of the technical issues with T3 I-pad version. As a new user i found downloading new editions for the I-pad version as opposed to the print version confusing. I contacted the Tech support and was contacted by Paddy. I work in the service industry and this guy went out of his way to find a solution for me. As a new user to T3 it was a great service experience .
His advise on how to sort out the down load in case anyone out there is as slow as me....
1 As an IPAD SUBSCRIBER (you paid for the subscription to T3 through iTunes on your iPad) you do NOT need to tap the SIGN IN button.
2 To see your IPAD subscriber editions, they arrive in the LIBRARY, and all you need to do is tap the download arrow on the greyed-out cover.
3 If the app asks you to Log-in, you need to use your APPLE ID and password.
4 If the download arrow is not there, you must ensure your iPad is connected to Wi-Fi, as it won't allow you to download over 3G due to the size of the content (500MB).
5 Please check that you are signed in to your Apple ID in SETTINGS on the iPAD, using the ID that you purchased the iPAD Subscription with.
To top it the electronic version of T3 is excellent. thanks Paddy, made my day!

Ok

I have now changed my mind from the below review I gave. Their customer service have gotten back to my after 57 days! Their answer to my over charge issue and not being able to download and paying for a subscription was to tell me to just cancel my subscription! No sorry, no have some money back that we stole! This app should be removed from the app store.

The app is good, the magazine design and layout is good the only thing that lets it down the customer support! The customer support is really really really poor! I had/have a problem with the subscription and with issues appearing after i had deleted them. Placed a support call added a read receipt to the email got the read receipt back adn have yet to be contacted by their support team, that was 2 weeks ago. I have canceled my subscription and will not be buying any more magazines from them until I get a reply. Really poor support!

Shame about the app, shame about the content

Firstly, the content of this magazine is really for the low end of the tech market. This was proven when they had a video showcasing the new iPad 2, which was pretty dire, but when the presenter said something like ' and lastly, the T3 app even works on it', which was possibly the least insightful, most pointless comment I have ever had the misfortune of hearing.
But in spite of the poor quality magazine (let's face it - if you have to sell the mag by putting a model on the front cover, the content has to be pretty shabby), the app pretty much stopped my iPad from being able to backup. I had bought 2 copies of the magazine, by which time, my iPad regularly failed to backup, with various errors. I had to hard reset the iPad, delete the backup, and then I could backup once. Deleting the T3 app fixed the issue.
So, if you like to regularly back up your iPad, and are interested in technology, then don't buy this app - get Pulse and subscribe to Engadget / TechCrunch, or something similar.

Very Good but for a couple of things

I really think T3 is showing the way for iPad based magazines. As such I have purchased several of the back issues and do not intend to purchase the paper copy again. However there are a couple of things. New subscription option, the prices only show on my iPad if I am in landscape mode, not sure if that is just me or not. Unlike IGizmo many of the videos need an internet connection which means when I am on the train I am stuffed as 3g access is sporadic at best. I know it would increase the file size but embedded videos would better. Also why is the 3 issue option the most cost effective. If you buy 4 x 3 issue subscriptions you save a whole 4p over buying an annual :-) trivial maybe but worth pointing out, surely this should not be the case. Anyway good mag and another reason for me to love my IPad some more.

Doesn't work at all

The irony is, the first issue downloaded and worked fine despite the various reviews saying it was buggy. Well, the Christmas edition came out and I bought it. Didn't have problems with buying. Waited for the progress bar to hit 100% and that was it. Couldn't click anywhere on the screen, all the options were greyed out, even the "help" section! The only bit that DID work was the option to purchase other editions (or the same again?). Checked the t3 site which advised a hard re-set, went to the library and re downloaded it. Don't know what happened to the other 100% download. Waited, got to 100% and nothing AGAIN. Tried it 3 times now and nothing. Moral of the story...my newsagent is at the end of my road so I would have saved 30 mins by walking up to purchase a hard copy. My guess is this app is designed for ios4 which is lovely if the iPad was running ios4 but it's not?? I've just filled by Petrol car up with diesel, should be ok shouldn't it?

Don't download if you still wanna backup your ipad

This app is just not compatible with the ipad. I bought an issue and thought it was great until it came to syncing my ipad with itunes. I waited almost an hour and it was still only a third of the way through the first backup stage. Their support page says it may take longer to backup because of the size of the issues, but it doesn't take that long to transfer a couple of hundred meg if even that. I had to delete the app and then the ipad synced and backed up within seconds.
Upon reinstalling the app I found that the issue I'd paid for was gone and it was looking to charge me again. I've sent a few emails to their support email address over the past month and not received one reply...very very poor. Support it seems is non existent!
This latest update has fixed nothing, it still takes forever to backup! I don't normally wright reviews, but felt I had to this time to stop others being ripped off.

Surprisingly good

Have downloaded many of the early "mag" apps but have to say this is the first one to make me want to read my magazines in this may rather than paper. Perhaps it's because it's finally a magazine that I am familiar with but it is also down to it's execution and easy to follow format. Would have given it 5 stars but just disappointed that it doesn't have a discounted subscription offer, so as a subscriber of the print version I either need to keep paying my subs for that or cancel and buy the more expensive £3.99 iPad version. I think as much as I like this app, for cost reasons I'll stick with the print subscription.
Come on Stuff Magazine, T3 has left you behind but you could beat them with a good iPad subscription plan! I want to give one of you my regular money!

Great Implementation of a Digital Mag

Hands down the best digital magazine I have experienced. The interface is responsive and well used, vertical as well as horizontal branching ties articles and themes very nicely - framing means there is often far more on a page than first glance indicates and the formatting ensures easy readability so we don't need or miss the zoom. 3D animated photos allow the gadgets to be seen better than any printed page, and the videos are just enough to whet the appetite.....even a cover girl feature eh ^^!
Embedded video caused a few hiccups, but I am confident that will be addressed in a later update, downloading is also rather slow but all magazines seem to suffer in that regard. These are the only issues blighting an otherwise top notch product.

Super sexy

A fun app, obviously a lot of work has gone into getting so much detail here -- it's very interactive, rich and glossy and almost game like trying to find all the little hidden treats. Embedded video, hidden graphics and lots of panels to pan around in.
It took a while to download ... I had to keep poking around the LIbrary while it was loading to stop my ipad going into AutoLock, but well worth it once it was finished installing. There is a nifty 360 degree camera view that you can pan around in too.
Nice to see T3 have applied as much attention to the digital edition as they do to the print one. It's a bit mind boggling that they've got many of the pages in two layouts for portrait and landscape.
