Won’t let me stream what I’m paying for.

I have to make 12-15 attempts to stream anything, it just keeps telling me that this isn’t within your subscription; then hey presto I might be lucky enough to actually get to watch what I’m paying for.

It was great now we’re getting less than US customers.

It’s a good app, but I only really signed up for the 90 day fiance franchises. Why have you stopped including the pillow talk episodes for the main and spin off series? Please bring them back. And upload/air days aren’t consistent. Last Tuesday you released an episode of the current series, this Tuesday it’s still not released. I know it’s already released in the US, so why do we pay for the subscription like your US customers but, miss out? There’s also far too many shows that are advertised on the app but unavailable when clicked to see the description like the Smiley face killer for eg.

Poor Customer Service

If you wish to buy a subscription with good customer service and honest transaction, go elsewhere because this is a joke.
I have purchased the £30 to watch the Paris Roubaix under the advertised guise that it was an instant service. I paid for the service and it did not work and kept putting me on a loop.
I alerted discovery plus of my issue and they have done nothing but disregard this as a transactional error despite payment being taken.
I asked for a full refund but they have done nothing but ignore the request.

I know I didn’t spend £31 on SWEET FA, I bought this package because between tnt and discovery premiere league football I’m supposed to be able to see. Well I couldn’t even watch the Crystal Palace. Navigation is awful

This feels rushed with zero consideration to people wanting to pick what they watch. There is no option to select a certain episode, you have to watch in the order they want. If you fight against the scroll bar which thinks it knows better, you can kinda skip ahead but you have to watch the ads before starting a new episode. Garbage.

TV App not very good

Using the Discovery app on tv and its just not very good. Navigation around the menu is slow and very laggy, the recordings are inconsistent and just skip/lose episodes for no reason. Nowhere near as good as Sky service, needs a lot of work

Buyer Beware: A Fantastic App If You Enjoy Watching Ads

I had been a huge fan of this app for years. There is a large catalog of varied and incredible programs that I have truly enjoyed watching. However, a recent change in pricing has completely changed that. The ‘premium’ subscription service is now over £30 a month. This price is outrageous in of itself but what is truly shocking is that for this amount of money you are forced to watch ads! It is now impossible to be ad-free on this app. I have multiple subscriptions to other streaming services and combined they are cheaper than Discovery+ as well as them all being free from adverts. I now prefer to watch shows on those platforms as I’m not made to sit through ads every fifteen minutes. It is truly a shame that a once fantastic app has been completely ruined.

For the money, I expect more

Discovery have killed every other option to watch cycling, this app, and the coverage, is very disappointing. I have to pay to watch adverts now? The “highlights” programmes are poorly edited chops from the main live programme. Can you not spend a tiny bit of effort to curate a decent highlight programme that’s about an hour? I don’t consider 1 hour of waffle and 2 hours of “live” racing the highlights. Decent presenters, great commentary let down by high prices, and lacklustre editorial control. I really don’t care bout your CGI generated studio backgrounds. Spend my money on what I actually want; Watchable content, sensible highlights packages and properly edited programmes. Overall, 1 star as I don’t really have a choice and it seems like you know it.
Update; and now your editorial control is so poor that the lack of audio sync means I get to hear the winner of the sprint before I see it. Thanks! Don’t forgot, this is £30.99 A MONTH FFS.

Shame on putting the price up for cycling

It’s ridiculous from £6 a month to £30 it’s not cool due to the fact all other cycling up network for us to see all races has gone down but now discovery+ is the only one left for us cycling community to watch and I think this price is ridiculous and you are taking advantage of it which is not great at all, so please rethink about a reasonable price for us to able to enjoy to watch all the races all the seasons including Strade bianche Paris Nice and Tour de France, paris-Roubaix, which we all miss out due to the price also ITV has backed up so not cool at all

Ok, bit buggy, hard to navigate

Ok but not as well put together as some other streaming service. The large catalogue is not easy to navigate unless you want whatever is currently the main evening, so often you have to trawl through menus to find what you want. This is particularly annoying when you’re half way through, why isn’t there a resume on the home screen? On Apple TV, starting where you left off a day or more before usually gives an error and you need to back out to the selection screen.

Changes since becoming TNT Sports

Since closing Eurosport and changing everything to TNT sports, it has become hard to quickly recognise which Discovery+ streams (particularly with cycling) are the full digital (no advertisement) options. I suggest that each of the individual streaming icons have some indication to indicate which are digital. subscribed (no advert) streams. Maybe a clear symbol on the image of the appropriate icons.

Honestly so far this is rubbish.

1. It’s not in 4K or even 1080p for UFC/Boxing
2. Theirs ads on their own made shows when I literally paid £30.99 for the highest package!!!!!
3. Theirs not enough content on there I just want to watch UFC & Boxing make one specific plan for that. I don’t watch football & all the wimpy sports & I don’t want normal TV I can stream off YouTube for literal free.

Több éve vagyok ( voltam) az előfizetője az eurosportnak, mert szerettem reklám nélkül magyar nyelven nézni a közvetítéseket bárhol a világon. Eddig kb 40 font volt évente az előfizetési díj, amit elfogadhatónak találtam. Tavaly átvette a discovery+ Angliában , és az alap csomagban helyezte el a biciklis közvetítéseket kb £7 -ért havonta. Idén átrakta a prémium szolgáltatásokhoz havi 31 fontért . Egy év alatt kb 450% emelés !!! Viszlát előfizetés ennyit semmi nem ér meg! Most ne gyertek azzal hogy más is van a csomagban, mert az eddig sem és ezután sem fog érdekelni. Kiváncsi vagyok hogy a nálatok dolgozó emberek mekkora béremelést kaptak idén!? Ugye hogy meg sem közelíti ezt az összeget!

Almost perfect if only the developers would make the aspect ratio of streams 19:5/9 to properly fill out these modern smartphone displays it would be amazing and it was done for a short while when it was still BT Sports but it’s been lost ever since. Extortionate!

I subscribed to Discovery + to watch the cycling since they took over Eurosport and I was paying £3.99 per month until today. Now they want me to pay £30.99 per month for a subscription that includes every other sport they offer, none of which interest me. I shall now have to settle for the short highlights on YouTube. 🙁 I’m hoping a lot of other single sport fans will do the same and hopefully they will reconsider.

Good app, but buggy

App reliability is not perfect. Probably twice an evening it has to be closed and reopened because when I go from the minimized app where just the tv program is showing and go back to the program being docked in the app, the program seems to disappear. Sometimes it comes back but then the sound still plays, but the play, pause and time all freeze.
Shutting down the app and reopening it sorts things out, but it’s frustrating. Love the app, but please can the developers fix this problem.

Used to be perfect, recent update has changed it?

I’ve loved using this app for the last 12-18 months, I think there’s been a recent update which has changed how it works - specifically on my phone. Used to be able to continue playing audio after locking the screen - now I can’t! Have to leave my screen unlocked when phone is in bag/pocket to continue enjoying content. Very annoying backwards step. Other suggestion from me is to be able to select a few “favourite” sports. It’s a long list and mine are further down the alphabet so it’s annoying to have to scroll every time I use the app (which is a lot!).

Rubbish and Unreliable Platform

Don’t waste your money subscribing to this app. It doesn’t matter what device you watch it on because regularly the wrong program is posted on the menus. I get this app to follow the cycling on Eurosport and tonight I wanted to watch the Extended Highlights of the Stage 2 La Vuelta (Tour of Spain). It should run for 60 mins but the incorrect program has been loaded into the menus. What shows is a Stage 2 from a previous year and it was only 5 mins long in duration.
Very disappointed, what am I paying my subscription for? This happens on a regular basis so I won’t be subscribing in the future. They say they care and they want your feedback in surveys but they never get back to you because they are not interested - they just want your money!

Crashes out after 3.5 hours. App needs a rewrite.

Probably the worst app on my Apple TV with tons of issues (no other app on my Apple TV box suffers with anywhere near as many) but it’s most annoying habit is to crash out after about 3.5 hours of watching a live stream, very annoying when watching a 4 to 5 hour cycle race and it happens at a critical stage of the race! Reinstalling the app has made no difference, and there doesn’t seem to be a setting I can access to adjust it, so guess I have to live with it until they fix it or Cycling coverage moves to another provider. It’s a toss up as to which will happen first, both are unlikely!!
Other than that very good cycling coverage in the Sport (Eurosport) section, lousy app interface (Eurosport app had similar issues, GCN+ didn’t (How I miss it!)) and it’s annoying I have to pay for the other Discovery+ channels when I have no interest in them at all. App could do with a bottom up rewrite to fix its numerous issues! While you’re at it put in a filter to hide TNT sport events for those who don’t want to upgrade from Discovery+ with Eurosport!

Frustrating

I have discovery+ because TLC shows are no longer available elsewhere and I love the majority of the content. The biggest frustration is that on every show I watch there is an ad break at the end of EVERY scene, every single scene!! Well actually they wait until 3 seconds into the next scene and bam AD but I presume that’s not meant to happen, whoever does the placement clearly needs more training. These ads last anywhere from 7 seconds to over 2 minutes every scene!! I don’t like ads and would prefer an option to pay more for no ads but as that isn’t currently an option surely they can do the same as most other platforms and only have ads 3/4 times during an hour long show!!

Very good but needs more content

I enjoy Discovery Plus as it has some fun stuff to watch such as 90-Day Fiance, Help My House Is Haunted, Darcey and Stacey, Trixie Motel, various Osbourne family shows, etc…but I just wish it had more content and fun shows to watch with the family or even alone. I think it’s worth the subscription fee as it is but more shows would make it even more worthwhile. I really hope Discovery Plus gets the rights to stream Trixie Motel season 2 as the first one was a surprising guilty pleasure. I do enjoy this streaming platform a lot and I hope they maintain its integrity as a good source of both trashy and quality entertainment. For that reason, I’m only giving it 4 stars but with more fun content and keeping the subscription fee at a reasonable price will make me give it 5 stars in the future. Please keep up the good work guys and don’t mess up a good thing! I’m a big fan of Discovery Plus!

Great for some sport.

As a cycling fan Discovery is an essential since its sublimation of GCN and its take over from Red Bulls far superior Mountain Bike coverage. Road cycling and CX pretty much the same…MTB has found a great link in Kate.. but a much worse director, a bearable lead commentator who isn’t a patch on Rob Warner and a very loud Aussie with a very shouty voice, no real analytical skills and a vocabulary consisting of stating the blindingly obvious with everything being ‘carnage’ when it isn’t . PS Note to Discovery..in F1 the Pits are an essential part of driver strategy. In MTB if you visit the pits you’re probably losing as the aim is not to visit them. Don’t watch any sport behind an extra paywall and the world needs more formulaic documentaries like it needs a hole in the head..so I never watch them…but some people do so what do I know?

So glitchy…and it’s not my Wi-Fi :(

This is the glitchyest app I’ve used. All my other apps work fine and my connection is great. It glitches every 6-10 seconds no matter what you’re watching. Also trying to move through the Home Screen options is like trying to run through quicksand. It waits to load up every heading on the screen before continuing to scroll. Like, if I’m trying to scroll right to “cycling”. I can’t just go straight there - it takes an age to load up the screens before the cycling page, before actually letting me navigate to cycling. It’s just so bad, I don’t want to use it. Which is a shame as I think the contents great. Please do not reply talking about my Wi-Fi connection as it is not that. Literally everything else works perfectly.

Multiple screens?

31 bucks a month for all the football and all the comps - at least that my country is part of would have justified the price but still having to shell out for Sky Sports for some games and BT for others is a joke. Hopefully the FA will start its own streaming service soon as paying around 78 quid for sport alone is ridiculous. Add on the likes of Netflix, Prime, Paramount and/or Disney, Cloud storage, Readily etc etc. subscriptions each month and it’s already out of control. Why such a high price when it’s only one of your channels shows is what most are paying for? And why is the app itself feel like it was made 3 years ago. So much wrong with it. And as for the screens - I couldn’t create a profile for 3 people to watch 3 separate teams play with my own one separate. And I have to pay what? 100 odd quid for 5 screens ? Get a grip. Stopped my subscription for next month. Going back to watching the streams on the foreign channels you find on Twitter. I defo do not recommend this. At all.

Rubbish. Do not get if you want to watch on TV

Absolutely d¥% S>~!. I got this because Eurosport forced me to get it to watch the sports channel in the UK.
All worked well on a 4 inch screen on an iPhone . But! That’s not what I wanted it for.
I thought you could use it on the TV. Download the app onto my LG TV, not an old one. Tried to watch the cycling. Impossible, due to the constant buffering. Absolutely rubbish. Tried several times to contact help but it was a bot. When I wasn’t a bot, they cut me off.
Every time I turn the TV on . It’s there, the same program I started to watch. No way of navigating out of it. Only pause and play work. No way of going back to the main menu to try and watch another program.
I just cannot believe something this rubbish is out there for people to be sucked into. Clearly a lot of bogus reviews on here if others rate it highly or maybe they are just using it on a phone .

Good but has a few bugs

It has a few bugs, (pc & phone) but my main annoyance is playing it on a console, if I leave a episode half way through when on my pc and try play the rest on console it won’t play the part that’s left over on a episode and skip to the next one no matter how many times you press the episode it will skip, so I have to watch the rest on my phone till I’m at next episode then pick up from console, wish this would get fixed as I like to use this streaming app when in bed

I have wanted this for years.

I have seen certain programs advertised on TV only to find that they were on Discovery+, which I never had. I didn’t want to fork out for yet another subscription so let it go. Recently I changed my broadband provider and was really pleased that it came with Discovery+. I have hardly stopped watching it since. From the Aussie Gold Hunters, to the great travel programs and my favourite of all, the GREAT wildlife and nature problems. I absolutely LOVE this channel.

Good selection of sports, but needs a way to hide the results

This is a good app for bringing together lots of sports (TNT and Eurosport), and it’s great that you can watch more live sport than what is just shown on the main channels, or watch continued coverage without missing action during advert breaks. I feel though the app really needs a ‘no spoilers’ type option or a way to turn off the timeline markers. So often these act as spoilers when I go to watch something that was on earlier. In alpine skiing and biathlon for example they show when the fastest time occurred. This can ruin the excitement if you know from the timeline markers that after the second athlete nobody goes any quicker. There’s a similar issue with tennis coverage and markers for break points and breaks of serve.

This new timeline feature ruins the catch up sports

How do I permanently switch off this new timeline bar that has started to appear in the app for sports broadcasts when watching later - it is a spoiler for the entire broadcast?
It is no good being able to toggle it at the time as it has already been on screen and told me the order of 1/2/3 for something like skiing, taking away much of the excitement. I have to try and block part of the screen and fiddle around because it appears by default rather than remembering I toggled it off across app/web last time.
Please put the setting into my profile so I can switch it off permanently across channels rather than ruining the event.

Jog on Discovery+, that’s a sport for you!

The over all content on Discovery+ is not great and I’ve only had it when I’ve got it free on deals (and even then not really watched it). Today I was told the new season of Formula E was only on “TNT” which then throws me to this Discovery+ app where I am then told I have to pay an extra €35 PER MONTH to watch the sport that usually has at most two races per month and not even on every month, and then the app tells me I must contact someone regarding it but makes no suggestion of who it is I need to contact or how. I tried calling Specsavers but they said I was reading fine, then I tried IKEA but they said there was nothing I needed to set up. Maybe you should make your app and service a bit less rubbish Discovery+? 🤪

Rubbish…still buffering 3 Months later…still 6 months later and buffering

Can’t watch the football anymore, it’s an absolute joke. BT sport was fine and issue free but this new set up just buffers constantly.
I wrote this review initially mid PL season and now its Jan 2024, tried watching the Newcastle vs Man City game and it’s buffering. Don’t have this issue with any other streaming service including casting of Now TV etc, never had any issue ever with BT sport but now TNT/Discovery took over and haven’t watched a single full match this season…every game buffers and then I’ve just given up.
It’s 2024, not 2004 BT Sport…TNT…Discovery…get a grip and stop rinsing people for a substandard service…no wonder everyone’s getting pirate tv

App Now requires IOS13.... shame for paying customers with older devices

Latest update has now made my app not usable as its requires IOS 13 or higher. My perfectly good and usable iPad now will not open the Discovery+ app as it only runs on IOS 12. This is discriminatory to customers with older but working and perfectly usable devices. It’s also not environmentally friendly to basically say throw you device away and buy a new one or you cannot use our app to watch sports 😣 which we pay for each month. Not happy 😡 you need to offer support for older devices or offer refunds. Other companies seem to keep support for older devices. We had no issue with BT sport, but now it’s TNT sports it’s nothing but issues, poor stuttering live football, and now this. Very poor. Sort it out please.

Randomly buffers when Streaming Football

I’m paying a good amount of money per month to BT to watch sports and while I’ve had no complaints watching and streaming other sports events like racing from the app onto my TV, for some odd reason it’s a very inconsistent experience with football.
Not sure if it’s because it’s games with high popularity but I’m paying for a product to watch the game in a dignified manner and it randomly freezes, buffers and stops despite my phone my TV and home router all being in the same room.
I’ve seen other reviews about this and it should not be legal to provide a sub par product for the money we are paying! I’m adding this feedback so they can see it’s a pattern and not a coincidence with customers

TNT sport needs improving

Watching content is difficult, the player is slow and does not have simple streaming features like scrubbing, changing video speed, custom time skips, time stamps etc. one of the best parts of being able to rewatch old content is being able to navigate through the highlights easily.
Also the app does not allow for favouriting certain sports or getting notifications about certain events or sports categories and when trying to navigate the catalogue, videos stop playing and there is no way to find play history or resume playing unfinished videos at the same point.

I remember 2 years ago i was telling everyone in my place of work just how fantastic this app was,i would take out my phone at lunch and let people check it out and i would wax lyrical about this app ,now i despise its very existence ,when ads started to appear even after paying premium a price that was the turning point,thats when quality and integrity was overtaken by greed for money,now this app is garbage,everyone i know who loved this app now all say its awful now and they didnt renew their subscription,one thing i used to tell them is NEVER GET A YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION! ,get a monthly so you can drop them like a bad habit if the app goes bad and im so glad they took my advice,this company makes millions upon millions in revenue and still they couldnt care about user experience.

Decent shows; app designed by an eight year old?

Honestly in 2023 to have an app so bad in terms of user experience is slightly concerning.
This app when you compare it to the likes of sky go, netflix, Disney+, prime et al is as though an eight year old class of school children spent a couple hours designing it.
It just lacks the basic requirements of a streaming app.
1- easy to pick up where you left off; especially when picking up on a different device. This app you have no idea where you stopped watching
2- quick links and suggestions to continue watching a show or series that you were previously watching. Constantly have to manually search for the show I want
3- effective and simple rewind, fast forward, and scrolling. Either your moving forward about 1 second at a press, or your scrolling from start to finish of the show with the slightest movement on your control.
4- ads; constantly repeating the same adds for 2-3 minutes at a time. Need to fast forward the show? Sure, watch the ads again. Went to far firward and need to go back? Sure, watch the ads again.
Honestly it’s pathetic. I’ve literally dropped watching the shows that I used to watch on sky just because it is such a bad experience watching them on this app. Hopefully more people will follow suit and they will be forced to hire some adult app developers.

Doesn’t work on Apple TV

I am profoundly disappointed with the Discovery+ service. While live content works ok, and the coverage is good, access to non-live content simply didn’t work on my Apple TV app. Every single item I tried returned a media encoding error and suggesting I look at a web page that also doesn’t work. I look online and see all kinds of work around advice and suggestions to fix the problem. The question I have is, why on Earth should I be trying to find fixes for a paid service when everything else on my Apple TV works first time, with no hunting around for solutions? Answer: unsubscribe, delete the app and move to another provider. Discovery is a global media provider distributing a PAID service. And they have rights to all the cycling coverage. Unacceptable.
Update: I was contacted by Discovery+ support saying they were sorry I was having trouble logging in!?! So, they clearly didn’t even read the review properly! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Please help

I’ve had this app for awhile I absolutely loved it I couldn’t afford the 6.99 s0 did 3.99 but some shows said I need to change my pass tonight I paid 6.99 n I still can’t watch all the stuff I previously was able to? On the show I wanted it said about pass it was 3.99 so I got that one n still nothing has changed I’ve got ads which I never ever had before another 6.99 has been charged 17 pounds I paid tonight yet still can’t watch all shows n have ads??? A review on the play

I have found Discovery + to be hard work as it doesn't always work it says for me set day or pay for a subscription when I have already done so so I'm a little bit disappointed because it's saying I need to sign back up again which I have done about four times and it's taking my money after me so we could you take a look as I have paid more than once and it will not let me play anything at all and it keeps asking me to subscribe which I have already done and I have tried to pay three times before and I would like to receive my money back I don't know why it won't play so if you could throw any light on it for me it would be much appreciated kind regards Alan Hayes

Pay More to Get Less

After subscribing to Eurosport for years, Discovery+ has forced those Eurosport customers onto their platform if they want to continue watching the sports on offer. This forced move has cost me a 50% increase in subscription fees and I have to sign up to their Entertainment and Sports package. Personally, I have no interest in the entertainment they are offering and feel the word is doing some heavy lifting in this instance. Having had a look at a few of the nature documentaries, they do not offer any new or enlightening information that hasn’t been seen elsewhere.
Considering the big subscription increase, you’d expect an improved experience over the previous app, but that’s just asking too much. Instead, it’s the opposite and you get to experience issues such as: difficulty when scrolling for previous events; tracking issues in recordings as you’re taken back to the beginning when you fast forward; and audio/visual not syncing, to list a few.

Don’t bother if you want to have more than “queer entertainment”

So.. I want to watch sport. I have no interest in anything else especially not the mockery you call “queer” entertainment. Most of it is cis people telling gays it’s okay to be gay which is just mind bogglinly offensive.
You can subscribe to entertainment or entertainment + sport. But you can’t just have sport. I’m not paying for something I won’t watch especially since it’s double the price. I’d happily pay £4 a month for sport but not £8 for entertainment + sport. That’s just dumb!!!
It’s just ridiculous that I already pay for Eurosport, I have coverage for the 24hours of Spa Motos but I’m forced to watch the speedway instead just because they want you to sign up to Discovery+. It’s just pathetic really

Amateur studio

As a big fan of Roland Garros I was alarmed to see that coverage had changed hands and I would now have to pay to watch.
On the plus side it is good to be able to select the matches I would most like to see and the court side coverage is perfectly acceptable if not up to ITV4 standards.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the studio punditry. It was at best shambolic, at worst excruciatingly amateurish. The group including Tim Henman looked as if they had been thrown together at a very bad party none of them had wanted to attend and were looking for the exit. It was painful to watch.
ITV4 did this so well. Discovery has dragged it down to unexpected depths of incompetence. It would be very sad if Discovery did not intend to raise its standards in this department.
You have it half right but the half you have wrong is enough to make me wonder how the decision was made to give this wonderful event to Discovery.

Worst experience ever

I started a 7 day trial yesterday
I have two Apple TV boxes and an iPhone.
I signed up on the kitchen Apple TV box and watched a couple of programs last night.
This morning I went to the Lounge Apple TV box and it wouldn’t accept my password so I changed it and signed in.
Tonight however back in the kitchen and on logging in it said password was incorrect .
I’m not stupid I’m not crazy - I am sitting here and can log in to the web page and my iPhone but this kitchen Apple TV does not recognise my log in or password and now after wasting about two hours when I try to sign in it says no passes available.
For a streaming service this is an utter shambles. I am so glad this is a free 7day trial as I have learned that to watch on my three devices I would need to sit wasting my life changing passwords for hours at a time for the next 7 days and this would do my bloody head in.
1. Being told my email is incorrect when it isn’t !
2. Being told no passes available , when I have subscribed .
3. Being told my password is wrong when it isn’t .
4 . Being told you can’t send an email to reset my password when the email is correct
Get a grip this is a massive failure! A great shame too as programs look good , but your not getting any of my money !

Ugh. Annoying, unhelpful app

So I was forced on to discovery+ instead of the Eurosport app since they are now under the same owner. Horrible to go from an app that basically worked to one that seems designed to frustrate you. Start watching something on the tv app and want to pick it up on the iPad? Yeah good luck with that, it doesn’t highlight the episode or remember where you were in it (at least for sports I haven’t watched any of the other content and wish I didn’t have to pay for it). Half the time when you leave the app and come back a few minutes later it doesn’t remember where you were in the match and you have to try and guess. You’ll also need to go find it again, no resume watching. Want to watch something that happened more than a couple days ago? Then your going to press view more endlessly. To go along with this it doesn’t neatly file things under events or into quarterfinals, semifinals etc. So you chose your sport and are then simply given things by date order. You can’t select for a specific tournament to watch the coverage from you either need to keep going backwards in time or come out of the section your in to be able to search for that event. There is no ability to watch Picture in Picture either so no watching a match while you browse the internet. Honestly I don’t really have anything positive I can think of to say about it at this point.

Been with discovery plus for some time now and all was great and purchased entertainment pass now discovery plus changed their policy to stupid daft new policy where all shows have redicilous ads there’s 3 annoying ads now in single show which I’m sorry do not agree with discovery plus it’s not even live shows i can understand if it was live tv not all shows and to top it up customer service agent is not good discovery plus needs to sort it before they start losing customers no customer likes to be stuck with annoying ads while watching their shows due to their new policy and poor customer service I’d be leaving and so is me mates and family members

Great content. Rubbish app

I absolutely LOVE the content available on Discovery +. Great variety in everything from gold mining and murder to baking and opal hunting. HOWEVER! I’ve set up a profile for my husband because, let’s be honest, he could care less about true crime. But he can’t ever reliably use the app. It keeps telling him to subscribe on his phone, won’t let him restore purchases and when he logs on using the same credentials as me it’s the whole subscribe now malarkey. I AM SUBSCRIBED!! Yep. My reaction is the same as when the self checkout keeps going on about an unknown item in the bagging area. Is this a single user subscription? Why bother with profiles then? Surely whole
families are not watching on a single device. Thank god I don’t have a smart tv that would drive me nuts going through this every day. Is there a way to upgrade so that a different person can actually use a profile? It’s immensely frustrating to say the least and has probably shortened my life by a good number of years from sheer rage. Terrific content. Hideous app.

Hub on Smart TV in Britain

I pay yearly to watch the app on my Smart tv / iPhone as I like to watch programmes that I’ve missed in the afternoons. Once the Olympics started, the app wants me to sign into any series of programmes to watch them via the app on the TV but I don’t have this trouble on my iphone, it won’t except my password either. The Form to fill in on the website only gives us Canada and America of the only countries we can report from. The app on the TV says to view the Olympics we have pay but not in the iPhone. This trouble started after the 5th February 2022. As a pay for a years use of the app I expect to access the app on both my devices.

Terrible experience renewing my subscription

I have used the old Discovery plus UK app without issue but when renewing today I was forced to install the new app and once I got over the £10+ price hike since last year and reinstalled the new Discovery+ app all I get is a message advising me to ‘Upgrade your pass via your Apple account to start watching’ (bearing in mind I have just subscribed and paid the £49 odd. A chat later with the human customer service person at Discovery and I am advised to cancel my subscription with Apple and subscribe with Discovery direct from their website. A little underwhelmed as to why the App should be made available on the App Store if you can’t subscribe through the Apple account. TBH at this stage I can’t be bothered. Discovery have just lost a subscriber. Really poor show with this latest update (and loony price hike)

Was great until the new app came along - then suddenly I found myself locked out and out of pocket.

I had used Discovery plus without ANY problem for more than a year - that was until the need for updating to the new app.
After following their instructions, I found myself being told by EVERY Discovery Plus format telling me that I didn’t have an active subscription. I did. It was paid. I have Apple receipts to show it was paid and active.
I spent 2 hours being passed from pillar to post, between Apple (who assured me my account was active and showing no problems on their side) and Discovery Plus support, who insisted that Apple must have paused my subscription - they didn’t - even if they did, I would still have 2 weeks left, based on when the last payment was taken.
I ended up speaking to 6 different people, between both companies and nothing was resolved. I was just told to make ANOTHER subscription, even though I have an active one that they won’t fix. With the last lady from Discovery, I ended up saying that it wasn’t worth the hassle and I would be cancelling. I was told to do that then join again, so I did cancel, but switched to Netflix instead.
2 HOURS talking to support - no resolution.
I’m clearly not the only person with this issue.

Just needs some tweaks

I use this app a lot but to catch up with the big boys, it really needs picture in picture. If I watch this on my ipad, I can’t do anything else on it. Also, the pause/play button is tiny and I have to bash at the screen to use it. The forward/rewind, as well as tiny are really close to the play button, causing lots of annoying miss pressing. One last thing, I would like to be able to click on an episode I have watched to view the series but it just plays that episode. Other then that, the content is really good.

3 stars for effort

I gave it 3 stars for the effort of bringing Discovery to on demand, but the app is cr@p!
Every time I want to watch it on my iPad or iPhone, which run on the latest iOS, the app says to download the latest version of the app. It redirects me to the Appstore and there is no newer version and it just says “open”… I click on that and it opens.. Really frustrating doing that every time for weeks now. Also when, for instance, watching “How it’s made” the English subtitles are automatically on. And no, I did not turn them on!
So effort, great! The app, very frustrating and broken.

App does not work

I have been using discovery + for a while but since the new app was produced I have not been able to access any programs. I paid the fee of £4.99 and I was still unable to access any of the programs it would say view pass when I had already paid for subscription. I have contacted discovery + and they don’t really know what’s happened to my account and I contacted apple support I would like to fix the problem so if anyone can help me that would great.

One P***ed off app user

Reason for three star worked fine till made to resubcribe. WHY mess with something that wasn’t broken all you needed to do was update or remodel the old app, you have the tools to creat a new one why not work on the old app. When I downloaded the app it stated did I want to continue my subscription with the new app I clicked yes assuming it would carry over using the same date oh how wrong was I just re-subscribed @ my normal £4.99 got 7 day free trial renews 5th jan but now due to this I can’t watch ghost Adventures or other programs that fit in the category or being able to watch for £4.99. How long does it take to actually kick in the 7 day trial or will we have to be subjected to waiting the whole 7 days not being to watch anything until you get your money? This newer app just seems to be a huge money grab will be extremely p***ed if the app no longer works after resubscribing. Never fix what isn’t broken just because you have made it where you can watch via Xbox etc well that’s another thing when will the app be available for this in the UK rant over

Good but some issues

This is much better than the old app which was truly painful to use with Chromecast. One thing that does need to be added is the ability to stop auto playing a different show/episode at the end of a programme (via Chromecast). In fact if this could be added to the options section like with other streaming services that would be great.
Also the ability to remove shows from the “continue watching” section would be really helpful. And it’s annoying that my entire watched history has been wiped and wasn’t transferred from the previous app.
Desperate need an LG app soon also!

I never write reviews yet here I am. I’ve spent almost an hour trying to work out what’s going on. Firstly for anyone confused who had the original discovery there’s a new app (which in my option looks a lot better and is easier to navigate). Secondly it doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve downloaded the new app. Deleted the old app (because for some reasons the app is completely new rather than just a update). And I have resubscribed as apparently the service subscription ended in December. Now I’m stuck as all my devices keep telling me to check my apple subscription when I try playing what I want to watch. In this instance It’s ghost adventures. Ghost adventures is listed by name in the subscription entertainment package so why the hell its not being recognised is beyond me. Sort it out discovery.

I’ve been emailing customer services since the new app open up trying to get some of the episodes which other people have got ie: Zak Bagans Nether World it’s about the Paris catacombs still absolutely nothing telling me I must have used another email address which I only every use the one email saying they were going to gave me a free week as I’ve trouble getting episodes didn’t get a free week still took the money on the day it was due very disappointing bring BACK THE OLD DISCOVERY PLUS 🤬🤬

I’m sorry but the rebranded Travel Channel now “Discovery Channel” isn’t yet going to get any more money from me yet. Ever since this virus business started there’s been surge’s in other directions other than one’s health and voila we have an upgrade that I can wait for as draining the last of my invested £ is currently being used for REAL health reasons as I rub 2 sticks together trying to re-invent TV, money and a balanced sense of well-being. What a carry on over an upgraded App

I have been subscribing to you straight through my bank account, and watch programmes every night. Now that you’ve upgraded the app I’m locked out of my account and can’t watch anything unless I take out a new subscription. There’s no information about how you do that without duplicating the direct debit you already have. You’re only providing help if you subscribe through your Apple ID, which I don’t. Looks like I’ll be cancelling my direct debit and subscribing to a different tv platform.

ONE STAR ! ! !

I tried to leave this review with one star but it kept coming up with ‘ nickname already taken.’ I tried about 20 nicknames - even spelling them backwards. Obviously this has been set so we cannot leave a bad review . . .The original app worked fine. This ‘ new ‘ one keeps freezing. Completely spoils the enjoyment of watching a programme. Why change something when the original one worked fine ? Please fix this or revert to the original one which was absolutely fine.

I really enjoy Discovery plus as all my favourite things to watch are contained within the app. However I work away at sea for a little over half the year and don’t have the luxury of high speed internet so very rarely get to watch Discovery plus content whilst I’m away at work. As many other streaming services allow download of content for offline viewing why does Discovery choose not to offer this service. If it’s I could download content when I’m home to watch when I’m away at work this would be perfect. So come on Discovery, please provide a service that many other streaming apps are already offering.

Not happy with this update

Iv just downloaded and resubscribed to this app and it keeps freezing .
Im not happy with this app the new one is really not good iv tried both one my phone and my laptop it is not worth the £4.99 a month subscription i think the old one worked a lot better with better options to change steaming speed setting which i found worked better as it stopped any freezing up but now its so annoying and im unable to watch an episode of anything something needs to be sorted out with this app other wise i will have to cancel my subscription permanently and this would be a shame as i have been using the other discovery app now for a long time and i really enjoy the programs on discovery plus but not since the update 😔

Tricky

I find this app hard to review. I actually use it a lot, but there are some flaws, every time I start to watch a show, it automatically defaults to showing subtitles... not my choice & there’s no option for offline viewing. I like the fact that there aren’t loads of ads, I really don’t mind watching a fair amount as I know the content has to pay for itself. What I do find annoying is that there are so many series unavailable from the particular programme/s I like to watch (Wheeler Dealers) as I’d love to be able to access all the episodes pre series 9. It’s the same for quite a few other programmes and some seem to have disappeared completely , so maybe I should count myself lucky.
