This may not be fair to Asda as I have only just started ordering from them, so only have 2 orders to base this review on. Having been a life long Tesco’s customer I ordered from Asda as they had a great deal on ‘Chateauneuf du pape.’ For the first order Asda did a like for like substitution changing the red wine I ordered to a ‘Plan de Dieu, Core du Rhone Villages’ which is never a substitution unless you believe all red wine are the same. The real issue here is, Asda still showed the ‘Chateauneuf du pape’ available to buy on their website. The second order, again for the ‘Chateauneuf du pape’ Asda cancelled it, however again, the wine shows available on their website. I have now placed a third order, again for the wine as it still shows as available. I think three orders is enough to assess how Asda deal with their customers, so who knows if there will ever be a forth.

Hahaha laughed at pal. Funny how it happens to every customer every time and get about at least 10 replacements that don’t even appear with your delivery yet make it out as if it’s the customers fault yet don’t do anything wrong sit in the house wait for delivery yet does not appear but hey the delivery driver all of a sudden breaks down aye no bother Hong Kong hope Asda shuts down ya madclown

Having shopped regularly at Asda both in store and online I will never shop there again. For some reason they would not accept my bank card even though the bank had stated that it was fine. I rang several times, I attached messages from the bank and they said they would keep trying. On the morning of my last order they still hadn’t sorted it so I cancelled and put the same order in to Tesco . I had never done an online order before with them but my card was immediately accepted and the order was cheaper !
No one at Asda wanted to know!!

It appears that many items which appears in favourites as available turn out as unavailable when you go through checkout. I had around 20 items unavailable! And it’s time consuming to go back and try to a) remember what was unavailable from your shopping and b) source alternatives. If item is unavailable it should be reflected in the “favourites”

Version 23.04
The functionality of this app is abysmal and hasn’t moved with times. Even when it does exist it still doesn’t work, for example why show something i might have forgotten that’s already in the bag. To add previous order you have to select all items you can’t add an item individually. All other apps know you might not want to re-order everything. To top it all off when you choose to re-order from a previous it replaces your basket entirely wiping out any other items you may have added. The i am on my way and I am here buttons have never worked for me. The search feature is poor, the way it works, how you display everything. The whole thing needs a rethink. I work in product design and shop online for everything this is a terrible app and has barely improved.

Removed products from order that were in stock

I placed an order for a few multibuy products with instructions not to substitute. Next day a few hours before delivery I received an email where 3/4 units of one product were removed (subtituted), claiming it was ‘not available’. I was also not able to reject the substitution of another product which was replaced with the completely wrong item as apparently it was ‘too late’. Despite this I was immediately able to place another order for the exact same products online, indicating they are not out of stock. This is obviously a cash grab from ASDA to ensure I had to redeliver the items at additional cost. I also used a non refundable gift card in the original order which was not credited for the missing items in time to reuse the balance, so now I have to spend even more with them to get the same items. I will be seeking refund of the delivery fee of the second order and the gift card balance. There is no option in the chat to speak to a human and the chatbot doesnt support any refund process. No response after calling the given helpline number. Avoiding like the plague going forward.

Having ordered online for years with other supermarkets, i will freely admit that I tried Asda as a last resort when my go to’s didn’t have availability to either deliver or collect and when I did manage to arrange a collection, the collection point was deserted, no one thought to let me know it had been changed. What a pleasant surprise I got with Asda. I can get delivery slots the very next day most times which I can’t at others and the grocery shop is the easiest search and quickest to load compared to all others I’ve tried. The link to the Reward scheme is straight forward and not complicated like some other supermarkets, so I can earn rewards easily and use them easily. The drivers are polite and helpful and the goods are so far all delivered on time well placed in crates, the crates are actually clean, unlike other supermarkets, and the items are not thrown in from a distance, and the prices are extremely competitive. I wish I had used Asda before instead of putting up with poor customer care from others. I am converted and just placing my next order now.

App & Delivery Issues

I’m only giving one star because I want this comment to be noticed. Asda delivery is up to £5, and I pay up to £2 difference to be booked in to a specific time slot. You have never met that time slot for our household. Drivers seem to have too many orders to meet within a slot, and seeing as they are expected to give support to the vulnerable, it’s unachievable. I don’t mind them being late, I know it will never be the drivers fault. But there doesn’t seem to be the support in place to meet the expectations that you set to customers. I know this may seem petty, it’s £2, and my foods only an hour late. But you mess up peoples routines, plans and days with something that could be fixed by hiring more drivers. My only other concern is how you take payment. Why don’t you take payment once customers have received their order? If it’s about those that don’t pay, that’s for a collections department. Why do we have to chase a refund every time you’ve missed something that’s part of a deal? I like Asda, but I struggle to leave the house, and I don’t think their doing their best for the vulnerable.

Excellent service - and a suggestion.

I’ve ordered my shopping online with Asda for years now and am extremely happy with the service received. Subs are usually sensible, orders usually arrive on time and drivers are invariably courteous and helpful.
I have a suggestion. On odd occasions when I shop I store, I always get a few items for the food bank trolley that’s near the exit. It would be great to be able to do this online too, or at least to have the option to donate a small sum towards the needs of the local food bank. I order online for the convenience and because I’m disabled and shopping instore is difficult and painful, as well as time consuming, but I regret that this means I can’t donate often, particularly at the moment when so many are struggling.
I don’t know how to get in touch with you other than though this review, so hopefully this will find its way to the right person.

Watch out for subs!

Im happy enough to keep using Asda online for my shop however this happened… In my order was x2 6pint whole milk Asda brand. I was substituted with 3litres of cravendale. Ultimately I have paid the same price for half the milk I originally ordered. The lady on customer services was nice enough but I really couldn’t understand the accent as she was from another country. As curiosity kicked in I ventured down to the local Asda with a friend and noticed that the items that were substituted were actually on the shelf in Asda. We are in a living crisis and Asda think it’s acceptable to take advantage of substitutions. They will give you less for the same price you paid. It’s a way to claw and rake in more money from those that don’t take a stand against it. Im just one person that has lost no greater than £2. A small amount it may seem. But this happens to thousands of people. That £2 x 1000 is £2000 given to a company for literally nothing!! Please take this review as guidance as to your online shopping experience. Please don’t assume that Asda or any online retailer will happily help you off their own back. THEY WONT! Be vigilant AND MAKE A STAND!

Poor.

Favourited items just disappear from your favourites list for no reason. Click and collect is useless, you are supposed to be able to say that you have arrived to collect your shopping and it should be ready. Multiple times now I’ve had to go from the waiting outside at the collection point to customer service desk only to have to wait around 30-40 minutes for someone to bring my shopping out. Search does not work properly. Results are obscured behind the keyboard and there’s no way to view the results apart from the first few that appear at the top of the screen. Please fix this. When amending an order to either add or remove items, the prices often increase on items in your shop and you are charged the higher price or cannot amend your order. Asda should honour the prices when you placed the order. The process for requesting a refund is long winded and unnecessarily difficult. All in all a bunch of primary school children could design a better app than this. iPhone 12 Pro iOS 15.3.1

This app has always been brilliant and made online food shopping a doddle however in recent months I seem to have nothing but problems so can no longer say that. I try to look at my favourites and it tells me a problem has occurred and unless I uninstalled then reinstalled the app I couldn’t access them however over the past month that no longer works. I wanted to amend my latest order but apparently I have no past orders despite being a regular customer and having a shop delivered the next day so I couldn’t do that and now I want a refund for unsatisfactory products I can’t request one because it says I have no order history! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve deleted then reinstalled the app and being honest it’s really work thin now. Can’t see what the point is if I can’t see my saved favourites to put them in a shop then can’t amend it either once I’ve finally booked one. And when you try to get app support and click the link it tells you the server doesn’t recognise it! Asda - I’d appreciate your feedback because I’m not a happy customer right now and my experience this past week means I’m unlikely to continue being an Asda customer unless these issues are resolved.

I placed an order successfully , my shopping (Visa) card needed topping up ! I topped it up and put my credit card on as well to cover the order ....... no confirmation came ! I amended my order, topping up my order with another 7 items ! On the day of delivery , no confirmation came and the top up items were on a separate list .... “without a delivery slot” ..... which should have been the existing delivery slot ...... ???
I am semi disabled and with poor mobility . Also , I’ve tried to order with ASDA online for over a year , unsuccessfully ! I am vulnerable in health and in age and was forced to shop on site !
I have spoken to ASDA customer services to reconcile these errors but received no help ...... hopefully , I can shop elsewhere now !

Simple sitting in bed warm as toast and I can order a huge range of goodies at great prices that will come delivered to my door as magic. Easy simple site to use and the more you use it weekly as I do I seem to fly around the site quickly and at the end it reminds you of past purchases, which is clever for ASDA and myself because I usually have forgotten an item or two. Win for both of us. Yep as a child my mother in the fifties would write an order in a book and before ASDA would drop it in the local corner shop. Order delivered that afternoon. Well same with me in a way except the choice was limited and she paid full whack for her goodies. She would be amazed if she could see how easy to shop can be today and the choice. Yep she be an Asdonian I am sure. Keep up the great work you all do and keep safe. Thanks.

A lifesaver!

I began using the app to order my shopping online and also my parents and elderly neighbour during the first lockdown. The delivery was huge with over £300 worth of shopping! But always delivered on time, often early, with great communication to let you know what included, or missing, and when it’s left the depot.
Luckily my parents have now learnt to order for themselves (with a little help from me) so they use their laptop and I’m linked to their account too. This means I can also get into the account to check the order or change anything. It couldn’t be easier. Substitutes are few and reasonable when they are necessary - they’ve even bought irons, towels and duvets and stamps with their order. We will keep this up now as they are still shielding. I don’t know what we would have done without this service. Thank you Asda!

I really do love the site but it’s not without its navigation bugs hence why not 5 stars, there is always the hope they read this and can make improvements for that solid 5 star review. Sometimes when I’m adding to the basket and changing the quantity, it freezes which doesn’t resolve till I back out of the app and go back in it’s a bit of a pain but not the worst but then you also get freezes when it’s loading produce so you have to wait an age for it to load everything in. Lastly product searches by name are not the greatest there are products I know are there but it won’t always find them I don’t often use the feature but certainly room for improvement. It’s a great app I do all my shopping on there I was a bit miffed over Christmas when I had to go online to book slots because the app didn’t have as many dates available that the full site does not sure if that was seasonal if so that needs to be looked at for next year if it’s something they’ve fixed recently big thumbs up and keep it up

So much easier (& cheaper)then shopping

I broke my arm in 2016 and had to start online shopping earnestly as I couldn’t drive. It was such a revelation. Now I plonk in my favourites every week, alter the order the night before delivery to reflect what is actually in the fridge, get up next morning and hey presto my shopping arrives. I can’t understand why anyone would want to go to the supermarket ever again. I am a long way from a store, so have the delivery pass which costs the same as one journey to the store and I get weekly deliveries , so I’m saving 75% on shopping trip costs and about 6 hours of my life every month. Yes I get some substitutes which are weird, or once it was all very wet 😳, but on the whole it’s a fantastic service, the drivers are lovely and I’m extremely happy. I have really appreciated the way Asda have kept the service going despite all the trials of lockdowns and brexit, even if it means I can’t get yellow peppers this week, or ginger last week, these are minor issues compared with the reality that for a very small sum somebody is bringing me food for a week and I don’t have to fetch it. Thank you Asda. 😁😁

Great!

Relatively easy to use once you’ve used it a few times. The only minor irritant is that if you amend your basket you need to select what you do or don’t want substituted. I have allergies so there are some things I can’t accept a substitute for and I’ve often forgotten to check my acceptable substitute list which means I often have to send the stuff back (which I hate doing.)
Delivery people are really good. Friendly and helpful in all weathers.
Returns are super easy too. I had fish delivered with the next days date on it. (Only happened the once.) I was really surprised to see I could select that option for the reason for my return. I was refunded super fast too. No more hanging of the phone for ages to other supermarkets to get refunded for a small item, which is such a waste of energy

Love online shopping as I’m shielding

App won’t behave and freezes half the time. If I amend my shopping why do I need to add again my card details every time? I’m gluten and dairy free and when I search for an item I can’t click on the item unless it’s in my basket to see what the ingredients are. It’s never done this before. Some drivers wear masks others don’t. Some drivers leave my shopping downstairs and it’s I just one flight of stairs for us to get but we have a lift. It’s stated on my notes. You have a lot of gluten free frozen/fresh food I can’t seem to buy online but if I go into the store it’s there. Odd items are replaced that are no way similar to the ones I’ve ordered but it’s getting better slowly. I have to always double check my order as some items go missing or have to ask for a refund as items aren’t up to scratch ie vegetables or meat. Beef is horrendous and chewy even roast beef. Even steaks and fillet beef. Once I got a lovely piece of beef but thereafter rubbish. Butchers choice meat hit and miss and the chicken is full of water. Best to buy meat that’s not 3 for 10 as the meat is poor or had too much fat. I’ve been with Asda for a few years now and prices are great but quality can let Asda down.

This is the most easiest of shopping apps EVER!

Over the years I have tried many grocery store apps to order and deliver my groceries but gave up after an hour of getting nowhere, or being so bombarded with too many products to choose from it was chaos! But I have found the one today! I didn’t want to go out today in the remnants of the snow, with the icy pathways and roads but with a near empty cupboard, fridge and freezer I felt doomed to have to go out! Then I thought I’d just see what it was like online again. And within an hour and a half I have booked a slot registered, shopped for a week for 3 of us, registered my card and paid and am looking forward to my groceries being delivered to me tomorrow morning! And I believe my shop was as cheap as my normal shop which is Aldi’s who don’t deliver! So I am very impressed and I haven’t had to run the risk of falling over and hurting myself or catching COVID-19 which is a definite bonus! Thanks Asda. You did great.

I have been shopping from variety of well-known supermarkets in the past few years and I must confess Asda is one of the best. Especially during the pandemic time when there is a huge demand for online shopping, the website and the app always work brilliantly and very user-friendly. Booking slots are almost always available and products get re-stock fast. Prices for products and delivery service are very reasonable. The variety of all different products -including international food- is amazing. Delivery has always been on-time and customer service always available and helpful. Asda has been a life saver for us in the past few months and I am more than pleased to select it as my no1 supermarket now.

I have been using the app constantly since April 2020, although I had used it before that. Overall I found the app good to use although navigating it to browse can be time consuming until you get your head around using the refine function.
I experienced a few issues with the app loading even during the process of making an order, however I overcame this by just logging in on the web page instead to complete my order. This review would have been 5 star if it was not for the app issues I experienced.
I have now bought a delivery pass as I will continue to use the app and get my deliveries. The drivers are great and go that little extra for you to make sure you get your delivery.

I’ve been using online shopping with Asda for over a year now and have found this a life saver. I had an operation which meant I couldn’t walk for 3 months let alone shop! The app on the phone and website both worked well. Then Covid decided to rear it’s very ugly head and everyone went mental trying to get online and do the same it became very challenging. The website often crashed mid shop or whilst amending. It was very trying! Slots became impossible to
Get unless you booked weeks in advance. Then Asda became aware everyone was doing this to avoid missing a slot. I believe they then stepped up sorted the website out and ordering and it became functional again. I have stuck with it and give them the benefit of the doubt and I have to say I am impressed with their ability to not only fix the outages but also their organising of stock availability during the nightmare of people bulk buying. I have to say I still shop with Asda every week and although sometimes items aren’t available (as the same in any other Supermarket) most of the time they get it spot on. The drivers are extremely helpful and always on time. I love online deliveries for the bulk of my shopping which means if I have to go out, it’s only for a small amount of items and not very often. Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen of Asda for all your hard work and dedication.

It’s a good app but the delivery or collection is wrong way round. I’ve had to cancel my order and do it again because it said collection date. So please get that sorted. I was also supposed to have been given a £5 voucher because of an angel delight pot having mould in it. But it’s not there so wasn’t happy about that. Otherwise it’s easy to shop with the app.
Update:- I was sitting here waiting for my order as half an hour late and no messages from them. Rang them and after ages they answered. It was for click and collect he said. On my order it said delivery. I always have a delivery now I have no help as being disabled is hard to do. So had to cancel that one and I’ve had to reorder. This isn’t the first time I usually check but didn’t this time. I’ve had my voucher at last. But I’m getting really annoyed at the mishaps that are happening. I love bananas but dare not order them as the last 2 ordered were black. Didn’t complain about them but the pudding was the last straw. Person on the phone was saying my fault. He still has t cancelled it. Why they couldn’t deliver it to me I don’t know? Not happy.

Why are subs not working?

Normally a great app. I have some issues with how items are categorised, but that’s personal preference.
However over the last few deliveries, we have had subs for every single out of stock item. We meticulously go through the subs and disable them for about 2/3 of our shop, so we have no idea why this is happening. We disabled subs on most items on our most recent order (via the app) and then waited for our confirmation email. We then logged on to the website via a laptop and amended the same order, not to add items, but just to check the subs. Everything was fine. About 2/3 of the order was subs disabled.
But we still got subs for items we opted out of subs for! This doesn’t sound like a big deal with free returns, but we usually spend over £200 per order, and I don’t want to dig through the dozen crates of food you send me to weed out the stuff I didn’t ask for. Something’s not connecting here. Asda please reach out to me and I’ll be glad to give you my account details so you can verify this against my orders. It keeps happening!! Sort it out. It’s wasting my time and it’s surely costing you money.

It gets easier....

Hard work to use at first but with every shop it gets easier. I mainly use this app because click and collect is most often free with Asda and they generally have more slots available than the other 2 big supermarkets. Where the app falls down is that you are charged immediately when you place your order. You are also charged again and again with any amendments you make. It’s not until the order has been delivered/collected that they actually work out what you’ve bought and then start refunding you bit by bit. The refunds always come through and it’s fairly efficient but most other supermarkets don’t charge until they are checking out your order, which means you don’t over pay and can also delay payment until the order is actually picked. For example, you can’t reserve a regular Wednesday slot because you have to checkout and pay for each slot you book to guarantee your place. That said the service is otherwise good with no issues.

Well it was better this week, than most weeks, it only crashed once!! I’m still not understanding why a lot, and I mean a lot, of everyday items which are ready available in store, still aren’t available online or the App. It’s so obvious people are starting to panic buy again because they fear going into lockdown, (and I live in the south not the north of England).
Please explain why when I try to order Asda own toilet rolls, they don’t show 24 packs anymore, only a 12 or 4 pack, which is big difference in price? But they are probably stacked sky high in the store!!! Last week I wanted a 12 pack of Asda baby wet wipes, they were not even showing as available, or out of stock, so had to order the nearest equivalent which was Huggies which were 75p more per pack. When my delivery arrived they were substituted with, guess what!, Asda wet wipes, they actual ones I wanted in the first place!!!!!
I’ve shopped online many years with Asda now but the online shopping takes a lot longer now than it used to, due to crashes and numerous stops and stalls. Would be nice if that could be dealt with.

Loving this CLICK & COLLECT ❤️❤️

Decided to use click & collect at the start of the covid pandemic and I absolutely love it.. No more wandering around the Asda, picking up extra items of shopping which I didn’t need. No more standing in the lengthy queues waiting to pay for the shopping which was an absolute nightmare when the kids from school came in for their lunch. No more trying to pack the bags quickly so as to keep up with the speed that the check out operator is going at. It used to take me over 2 hours to shop, pack and get home.
Now I order online , (the app let you know if your item is in stock) for the following day, arrange a time to pick up my shopping, (which is usually on my way home from work), go to click and collect, Asda’s online app picks up my phone signal so the Asda employees know I’m there, pack my boot with the shopping then home. All done in 10mins so plenty time for me to sit with my feet up.... thank you Asda. What an amazing service... ❤️❤️❤️

Many items come up week after week as being out of stock, however they are available in the store! Not sure why it takes so long to update the system. Also I like to choose the best possible date, however I often receive dates for the following day which is annoying especially if you order more than one. There is nowhere when placing the order to write a message as there was years ago. Also at present my local store is not accepting phone calls so if there is a problem you can only get a refund. Had 3 consecutive weeks where 4, 6 pt cartons of milk had leaked over all the shopping. Filled in the forms for a refund but could not state why I wanted it! I am however grateful for the delivery service and the guys are always lovely!

Limited range of food available

It can be frustrating to find that staple foods are out of stock or not available. When I check out, learning the hard way to go to the home site to do it as if things are unavailable the system won’t let you check out, I often find things are unavailable. Currants this week, cinnamon last week ( the spice is available this week, but last week the search engine showed no product, not just out of stock). I can’t ever get some simple things like smoked mackerel or any cold cooked fish, though smoked salmon is available. Although more exotic vegetables like fennel are not available, I can’t get everyday ones like whole swede either. For those of us trying to avoid too much contact in these unusual times, it can be frustrating. I do, however, appreciate the convenience of a delivery.

I’d never shopped at Asda before lockdown. Unable to get a slot at my usual supermarket I tried the Asda app. I’ve been so impressed, from the reoccurring slot feature (which has saved us during lock down) to the add trolley items to order when you’re amending, as a busy working mum of two I’ve found the app a bit of a life line. Yes there is sometimes the occasional glitch but I find that updating the app usually sorts this out. I’m also really impressed with the range of food, many items I had previously assumed wouldn’t be stocked by Asda, in fact are available and often at a great price or better quality. Their own label pesto has a higher % pesto than the leading brand, for example. I’m going to stick with Asda as my main supermarket from now on, I feel loyal to the brand that helped us through this unprecedented time. Thank you Asda from a new fan.

Almost perfect, just a few tweaks.

I’ve been an avid user since pre-COVID, so I regularly paid for a delivery pass prior to the pandemic as it was much more cost effective. I cancelled my past at the beginning of the lockdown as it was so hit and miss for me getting a spot. Now that it’s calmed down, however, I’m unable to purchase my delivery pass. My mother is disabled so she can’t get out, and is on UC. We can’t afford the £5 a week to get food to our door and that’s the cheapest option we have. I can understand maybe not wanting new customers to get a delivery pass, but what about customers who have always bought this way? It doesn’t seem fair.
Also I desperately wish there was a note we could add to substitutions. I do believe there are more “relevant” options available but it’s hit/miss of whether we’d get them items. This would be a fantastic addition to an already great app.

Click & Collect

Since the lockdown I have used click and collect. I am also a NHS Volunteer Responder and have used click and collect for food pickups.
The app is well laid out and clear. The ability to check and alter or even cancel your order is useful prior to pickup. I have had to add to the list when shopping for other people and is easy. Although the prices can alter once a list is amended which can be substantial. It would be nice for Asda to honour the original price of goods originally ordered.
The pick up is slick and organised. Over the last fess was months I have noticed that some of the packers look fed up and don’t always take the greatest of care (swinging bags into the boot and packing heavy items into soft product could be easily addressed!). One older gentleman pushed the trolley of baskets with one hand and was miles away (probably in his happy place) as he pushed the swaying tower of baskets over a road marking the lot went over. Rather than re-pack carefully he proceeded to swing the products into the car boot. Food was all over the floor and had to stop the car once he realised he had missed some items.
Having returned this morning I had the same gent again and thankfully no damage, although I have had to request a refund for damage goods in the past (Asda you could probably reduce this with a bit of T&D!)
Overall a great service with staff always helpful.
Must save thank you for continuing to work under difficult circumstances.

There should be an option to save your preferences re substitutions (I would prefer not to have them as the substitutions are often entirely random) and instead of having to search to find the correct substitution section and remove the tick for each item - it should be made easier - the Tesco app works quite well.
The app does not send either the order or the order delivery details to the correct picking store if you have 2 addresses on file. Each delivery I have to chase the order after it fails to turn up - I can never get through to customer services and so I select the Asda employee option.
When I do get through, the staff are extremely helpful and equally frustrated that Asda tech haven’t sorted this out as it’s a glitch for many customers. To try to resolve this I was asked to delete one address from file and to telephone the picking store the day before delivery - which I’m happy to do - but you requested a review of the app.

I have online shopped with a number of different stores and have always had the best experience with ASDA. They usually send good dates on the food and only send reasonable substitutes when the original item ordered is not in stock. If there ever is an issue with dates or damaged items there is never a problem with getting a refund for the items. The only issue I ever face is occasionally the app runs slowly and does not allow me to check out, making me think my order has not been placed correctly however an email will hit my inbox confirming the completed order. The checkout issue has only come to light in recent times while lockdown has been in place. I would have given 4.5 out of 5 as there are a few app bugs I believe could be fixed, however the food I receive and the service is always second to none.

Due to the Coronavirus I find myself shopping with ASDA. My usual supermarket is fully booked almost to the end of April. I’m classified as a high risk as I have multiple illnesses and have my letter stating this. Quite a few supermarkets are saying they are trying to keep home deliveries for vulnerable people. However when trying to book a slot there is nothing available. I’ve even tried to book my next shop two weeks from tomorrow. Upto the Monday, even ASDA is full. This seems to be a common thing. The government inform us that if you live alone and are vulnerable. Do not go out. So if we can’t get our shopping delivered what are we to eat! We don’t always have people that we can ask, family maybe to far away and friends are in the same boat in lockdown ! I’m not blaming Asda because at least they took my order to be delivered tomorrow Tuesday 7th April. I’m sure what I have ordered will be absolutely fine and if it’s only Asda taking on people, when all of this ends and I haven’t starved to death. I will continue being a customer of Asda. I’m very impressed at the choices on offer.

I would like to thank the delivery guys from my ASDA in Perth. They are always kind and helpful. In normal conditions, taking my shopping into my kitchen and unpacking onto my worktops. As I am disabled this is such a help to me. They have even offered to put my freezer goods away for me if I’m having a particularly bad day (obviously they are unable to enter my property at the moment). They always check that I am happy with any subs if there are any. They also speak to my dog who gets all excited to see the “ASDA man” at the window! They even remember his name! It is first grade customer service. They are always cheery and happy to chat while emptying the baskets. ASDA Perth, you have a wonderful team of delivery angels and I hope that they get the recognition they deserve especially in these unprecedented times of late. All too often feedback is from people who just seem happy to complain about anything and everything. Well done guys! I’m sure you could show competitors a ting or two!

Version 20.03
The app is pretty straightforward to use and has some features like regular shopping lists which you can edit, though that whole process feels creaky. Considering I’ve been using it a long time it stills takes a while to do my shopping. What I find a little cheeky is the suggestions that pop up when you search for a specific item, frequently (though not always I must concede) the suggestions are for the highest priced products and unless you fully click through to the search results you do not see the full selection.
The delivery service is good and the drivers always polite. The online system which lets you know when your driver will be there is excellent, when it works!! 2 out 5 times the system see,s to be down!
The produce itself is of good quality but I would like to see ASDA do more to reduce its plastic waste, rethinking packaging, sourcing more products that have a higher green standard if you will, also highlighting seasonal and home grown veg and celebrating it!! They have done a great job with their plant based range, now I love to see some serious promotion of no plastic products! Give the consumer options! I couldn’t find a single no plastic option for shower gel!

Shopping fine, click and collect awful

The apps fine to do the shopping, not most user friendly but you get used it. The worst thing is the new way the click and collect works. When you go to collect you click the ‘I’m on my way’ button and the app tracks your location, this however is the problem and it’s design is too complex and not needed. You just need a button to push on the app to say ‘I’m here’. Even though I click to say I’m on my way, when I get there I’m always waiting 10-15mins before someone comes and says nothing’s updated to say I’m there. Last week there was 3 people waiting all with the same issue. It just does not work. There’s nothing you can do but wait for someone to notice you on the security camera. on occasions I’ve had to go in store to ask where my shopping is which is a hassle when you have your daughter in a car seat and in her ballet outfit. I have updated /reinstalled the app to no avail, every time it hasn’t recognised I’ve arrived. Sort it out.

Click and Collect Issues

La fuzz de la buzz

My husband and I have been using Click and Collect for a couple of years since our baby was born, initially through the website then through the app; I’ve always found the app fine if a little clunky. I’d place the order and my husband would pick it up after I’d forwarded him the email: it all worked great.
However the touchscreen to announce your arrival and input your order number has been removed from the Click and Collect station. The idea now is you tap on the app that you’re on your way, and your shopping is brought out when you arrive. However it really doesn’t work if the person collecting is not the same person doing the ordering! With no means of announcing his arrival, my husband ends up sitting waiting until someone notices he’s there, asks his details then brings the order out. Ours can’t be a particularly unusual arrangement. Asda, please sort it out!

Can’t fault the quality of the food or the delivery service and drivers and in several months of ordering no failed deliveries and our regular driver is a super lovely lady, always happy and smiling.
The app however not so good, it crashes ALOT regularly throws up error messages, fails to log you in/out, makes you book the delivery slot several times as it doesn’t register or randomly books you a delivery for a date weeks in the future and a lot of stuff that is available in store is not on the website which is really frustrating. Also very often it doesn’t apply discounts properly. Other than that it’s great though! Lol to be fair you get used to it’s quirks and it has improved slightly over the years but the crashes and error messages have been a regular feature for years now.
Still manage to order my shopping on it every week though so whilst it can drive you up the wall, you usually get there in the end.
It could be so much better though....

I’m used to navigating the asda site now but in the beginning I struggled. If you persevere you will soon find it’s very easy. Make sure money is in the right account by midnight as they take payment soon after midnight. Look for email in morning if you want to know substitutions bcos not all drivers tell you about them so it can come as quite a surprise when you are putting it away and not always a good surprise.
Having mentioned these minor issues I want to stress that overall it is easy once you get used to it. Good value for money, very reasonably priced and most of the delivery guys go way over and beyond what is expected- I am disabled and unable to unpack boxes of shopping quickly so the guys are usually extremely good and unpack the boxes for me.i am so very appreciative of what they do, always with a smile too. A couple of them put fridge stuff away for me too as it’s directly opposite front door and that small act of kindness has made the whole delivery process a lot easier for me I’m forever grateful for this. Thank-you xx

Always had a good shopping experience using the app. Always easy and when I check out unlike other big supermarkets it only charges a small amount to test my card and it comes off my total shopping at the end. Other supermarkets take £2 and its never reimbursed. Asda is always good at picking my fruit and meat to a good quality, and the app makes it so much easier to do so. The substitutes are always good altho now it tells me before I check out if the items are unavailable so I can substitute my usual things myself. I love the fact I have a regular shopping order in my favourites so I can do my base shop and then also add what I want to which makes my shopping take 20 minutes max. This is important to me because I shop online as I hate going to the supermarket! Thank you Asda for making this a pain free, zero headache way to shop. Hassle free

Always liked this app, now I love it!

The new ‘Recipes’ feature is fantastic! I find it hard to find inspiration for new recipes and this feature makes it miles easier. Also, the database of recipes includes many varied options for palate, cost and ease. I don’t have a lot of time on my hands with a fussy 3 year old and a weaning baby, so I am 100% utilising this feature.
There are a couple of tweaks I would make to the app, including the fact that I seem to be logged out of it mid-shop occasionally. Also, when I search, sometimes it returns no results when it certainly should have and I have to use a different combination of words.
All in all, I am very happy with this app and will continue to use it! I find it a great deal more user friendly than all other major supermarket apps I have used.

Version 19.6
Used to love this app, but for months now it’s having more and more problems.
As if the continuous claims that certain items are out of stock for months at a time (despite me knowing for a fact the store my items are picked from definitely has them) wasn’t enough, the way the ‘favourites’ part works is appalling. Firstly is shows every single item you’ve ever ordered as a favourite! When really it should work on items you repeatedly order. Now it’s decided to keep mixing up the order in which you view the favourites. Which is annoying when you think you know where to find things!
And my biggest bug bear is when I add items from my favourites it keeps taking me back to the very top forcing me to have to scroll through to where I was over and over again. It’s taking that long it would be quicker to walk few miles to the shop and drag it all back!
So if anyone reading this has the power to fix it, please do!!

It gets progressively worse each week

Amongst tonight’s unsuccessful shopping... apparently the huge 24 hour store I use had no lurpack butter, no toad in the hole and no ice cream. No problem, because I know the store has the butter and meals, but somehow the app and the store don’t work together so I’ll just pick them up when I go to collect my groceries (which defeated the process really). It seems to tell me very slowly in a screen freezing way when an item is out of stock, but it does one item at a time and only tells me another item is out of stock when I go to check out again after going back into the store to pick an alternative. Freezing screens seem to be constant these days, I find it’s not so much freezing but not allowing me to select an item, so you have to change to a different page then return to the store and it lets you select that item, but only one item because it then freezes selecting items straight after. Anyway, eventually I select the time I’m picking up my shopping and yet, whole app shuts down. I try again, this time getting through to payment, the third time I got to chose my card payment, the fourth time I managed it. It’s like a sadistic game, with each week an increasingly frustrating shopping experience all the while being reminded to ‘save money, live better’. Nope I’m not sure I’m doing either.
It’s supposed to make my life easier, but I’m slowly losing the will to live..

Great app but no substitutes offered !

Online is easier than going into the shop. I load the previous order and add it to my trolley. I then remove what I don’t require and add additional items. Takes 10 mins and my weekly shop is complete. I like the app as it advises me when my order is ready to collect. I then click to say I am in my way. When I arrive my shopping is brought to me without me having to alert the staff because they can track me and know that I have arrived at the shop. I haven’t given 5 stars because last week 3 items were not substituted and were shown on my confirmation as ‘not available’. I asked the staff member who brought my shopping to the car why didn’t I receive subs and I was told they have a new computer system that tells the ‘pickers’ if to substitute and what with, or not to ! I have requested subs so expect them, especially for items such as frozen chips !!!!

App a has a few bugs but not as bad as the staff doing the packing!

The app can be really temperamental, it often gets stuck and has to be shut down and restarted started after it spends 10 minutes just trying to load one product. Not really the apps fault but ASDA clearly don’t put all products they have available on the app, for example cauliflower rice, the frozen steam bags are always available in the stores in my area but it is never actually available online, even though I have been sent it as a substitute to the normal rice bags? It’s rather annoying to not be able to order it when I know perfectly well that they will have plenty when I go into store. although you pay 40p for bags you don’t get them, half to most of the shopping turns up not in bags soo yeah thanks for that. also staff hardly every get the idea of cross contamination and you end up with salad vegetables such as cress in the same bag as fresh meat and fish, the irony of the fact they only use a bag to allow cross contamination and potentially poison you is not lost on me! I’ve complained re cross contamination multiple times and they clearly don’t care, as they continue to do it, what’s worrying if they don’t understand that basic and simple food handling concept, aka don’t put a bag of raw salmon in with an open box of salad cress and strawberry’s, what other food handling practices or they incapable of grasping?

Useless app and poor shopping service

The app itself is useless as a tracking mechanism - It's not real time and never shows accurate delivery information. For example, yesterday's delivery failed, but the app still says it's due for delivery. The app often crashes, throws up an error message or logs me out and then fails to log me in due to a session error. One can search for a product, but can't sort the results by favourites.
The actual shopping service is poor too. Lots of substitutions and often unsuitable substitutions too (e.g. dishwasher powder instead of dishwasher salt).
Despite my adding detailed delivery instructions and my phone number to the app, which had previously been followed by ASDA drivers, my last order was not delivered because the driver could not find my property. No phone call to let me know. No email to let me know. Obviously nothing on the app to show the change of status of the delivery because the app can't actually do that. As I said above, 18 hours after the delivery was supposed to be made, the app still says my order is due to be delivered yesterday. It's therefore pointless.
tldr: The app is useless and the ASDA delivery service is very poor. For those reasons, I'm out.

Great shopping experience, poor app

I have nothing against ASDA online shopping at all - their products are mostly good quality and competitively priced, and after 6+ months of using them, they have only been late once. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the app as it is slow, clunky, and takes long to load. Even if it is already loaded and you simply click the app switcher to check your shopping list - it takes around 5 seconds to load again when you switch back. It doesn’t support the new multiple apps view on the iPad, which would be handy since again I need to refer to my shopping list when I add my items. Finally, there’s this very annoying bug that has been present from the start - quite randomly, after leaving the app and then returning, the app gets logged out and any attempts to sign in again result in “Maximum number of signed in requests” message being received. I then have to force close and reopen the app several times to make it work.
Tl,dr: ASDA online shopping is great, app is buggy, stick to the website

Why has it changed

Iv used the ASDA app to order food every week for years, for the last few months it’s changed and doesn’t look like it will be changing back! I use to be able to amend my order until 12am the night before delivery, but now it’s 8pm the day before this is also when it will take the funds we’re as before it would take it at 12...guessing my food is being picked a lot earlier than usual. The use by dates tend to be a lot shorter now to! The app doesn’t let me amend my order anymore so I have to log in online instead if I want to amend. My face id won’t let me log in even though I’m using the same password. I no longer get a time estimate of the delivery only the slot booked, I miss the old features which made the ordering and delivery a lot smoother not to mention my food never had to be froze before due to better sell by dates. I will be moving to Sainsbury’s for the weekly shop if these problems ain’t resolved.

Love the app issues with the store

Using the App is so easy and convenient, I use it to go click and collect, however the amount of things that are out of stock and then I walk in my store at the time of collecting the shopping and I pick them up off the shelf myself is unbelievable. Also never offered alternatives like other stores always just get an email to say things are out of stock. I use this because working full time with children who hate shopping it’s convenient and the app is so easy. However I have so many issues with the quality of the products provided that I know is a store issue, usually damaged items due to the way they have been packed I had squashed fruit because they had packed my bottle of clean on top of it a bag of sugar soaking wet because it’s packed with a cold bottle of milk. Silly things like this that cause the issues. The last point is I have to pay for Carrier bags, yet never receive the amount of bags paid for usually just one or two.

Design flaws and average quality

Terrible login experience. It always has to refresh when you get back to the app, for some reason. I once ordered 1kg turkey steaks and they recorded as if I bought the 500g pack. Constantly substituting your items and their deliveries are generally late, sometimes exceeding your slot time. Quality of food is arguable, more often than not you'll find rotten kiwis, tomatoes, sweet potatoes and other bad stuff hanging around your groceries. Their fresh products have really short expiry dates. Costumer service is not that great either. Frankly not recommendable as of yet, I'm stuck to them because I mistakenly bought the Delivery Pass. They stepped up the game among similar stores, but they surely need to improve to seriously face the competition. Points for their brilliant handpicked kiwis and their beef steaks, which are great. Happy to stay for more 6 months, at the most, but unfortunately my poor experiences with them standout more against the few excellent ones.

Needs improvement

I find the app easy to use and quite reliable. Strangely, it can show the same items twice making it look like I’ve selected identical items twice, but it appears to be an innocent glitch as it doesn’t double on the order.
Unfortunately, the main issues I’ve had are of the human error variety. Foods that have been delivered with short dates that I rejected and was not refunded for. A box of press on nails that were open and missing nails as I didn’t inspect it close enough on delivery. Only two bottles of juice delivered but charged for the correct quantity of three. It would be better if there was a quick and easy way to log issues on the app itself.
I’ve since learned to closely inspect the delivery despite the clear inconvenience to the delivery person, but I have to say that I never had any problems when I shopped with Ocado.
