App is buggy

2024 version was fine. 2025 app doesn’t respond well on long mixes when trying to skip. The last forward has changed to 30,60,2 and 5 mins which is not great for mixes.

November 25. Still the app is awful. Why pay for premium and offline mode when if in fact you do go offline it stops working because it can’t reach the server. Downloaded mixes constantly fail to play after a while. Great gob with my £7.99 a month. useless. 👍

Always stops working

It’s so bad going through signal no signal. Downloads not working. Stops working if you’re on your work’s vpn. Can’t reconnect when getting off the tube. It’s untested and when you pay for an app it should work as advertised.

Great app for all electronic music mixes.

Really easy to use app to listen to all genres of electronic music mixes, from Old Skool house to full on hardcore. Definitely worth paying the monthly subscription because you can play mixes as many times as you want, plus you have full control of your playback, rewind is limited on standard. Save all your favourite mixes in their own folder. Interact with the DJ’s by leaving comments on the mixes at the specific times that you think are really good etc.. I’ve had the App for around 10 years, I would be completely lost now without it. 10 out of 10.

Increasing mess

Queue system has been getting more and more broken over time. Not it constantly wants to replay the last mix I listened to if I open the app. The Now playing shows the previous and next shows overlaid ok top of each other at the same time, and not the one currently playing. Been an absolutely buggy mess for ages now

A goldmine !

After years of scouring tens of music platforms - finding rich seams of club music in decent sound quality (all things considered) - especially late 1980s early 90s from Manchester and Leeds. Some seminal nights like Kaos in Leeds and Friday nights Shine at the Hacienda, Monday nights at Legends Warrington and even some gems from Quadrant park and the 051 Liverpool. Still have some of the very best on my own bootleg C90s (they sound as good as they ever did).

Well worth a deep dive into this treasure trove of great dance music, incredible mixes and utterly world renowned, uniquely talented djs from that time.

Can’t understand why they only allow you to jump forward a few times before asking you to upgrade for unlimited access. The likes of soundcloud don’t charge for you to skip through a track or mix. Could be so much better but let down by this ridiculous feature.

iPad version

Everything was fine until suddenly 03.05.25 the iPad version only seems to work in portrait view, whereas my iPad stand is in landscape view. Others seem to have had this issue, so I’m hoping it will be fixed or that I’m doing something wrong. Other apps are working fine though in landscape view.

Great content. The app was great too some time ago. However, nowadays downloads are lost after every upgrade and didn’t work at all offline after the last release, so what’s the point in paying £7.99 a month - might as well use the free version? These issues were raised with Mixcloud about six months ago and they won’t fix them.

Unstable app ruins great platform

I love the platform and paying creators through small subscriptions, the app however continually lets it down. It repeatedly stalls, freezes during playback, randomly drops button functionality, gives features, then takes them away (behind a paywall) -e.g. where did my downloads go? These technical issues stop me from subscribing and nearly caused me to quit the app altogether. Developers - pease work on app stability!

It’s great that it’s available FREE online and is FREE within Apple Car Play.

Amazing music, slightly confusing app

I love MixCloud as it brings the music I love into one place.

My only negative is I never quite understand the search function or subscription system. I’m a subscriber but somethings are locked but then I can listen to them anyway. Also when I search I always feels like I’m never quite on the right page. Like I find the mix I want but then can’t tell whether it’s part of the DJs webpage or a club or whatever.

To be honest, I’m subscribing to a service because of the great deep house and techno sets it has. Read between the lines MixCloud, I’ve probably done some drugs at some point. (I haven’t obviously, that was a joke! What even are drugs anyway?) anyway, let’s just say I’m easily confused by flashing lights and words. Please make the iOS interface simpler.

Glitchy website and downloaded content disappears on its own

I find the app frustrating to use - often saying ‘something went wrong’ and having to restart it - this happens particularly whilst trying to restart a mix having pauses it mid way through- and then this takes up one of the free 2 plays you have for mixes...

Also my downloads keep disappearing - it’s not me deleting them so must be mixcloud - very annoying…and I’m a subscribed listener- as a consequence mostly I use soundcloud as I find it’s much better and doesn’t have the technical issues I get with mixcloud...

Let down with CarPlay and AirPlay features

I love the app when just using it on my phone. But when I use it on CarPlay I’m not able to seek forward/back

Also in AirPlay when I screen mirror to the tv it works fine in portrait mode but when I turn my phone to horizontal mode the playback stops. No option to start it.

Amazing but not on every device

Mixcloud is only as good as its contributors - who compile personal mixes for every taste - from jazz to funk to chill out etc. Fortunately, its contributors are stellar!! And you get to pick your favourites and follow them!

For this, they deserve five stars!! And they will surely get upgraded as soon as they fix the quirk so that Mixcloud will work on my iPad mini…as for now, there’s a technical glitch. Sometimes this happens …hence 4 star as opposed to a very deserved five stars (when it’s working!!).

Mixcloud often has connection issues and I can’t always find what I’m looking for. Also I’d like to know how to delete posts and reposts. This would be helpful. Also! If late paying my subscription, why does mixcloud remove your music from your profile, even though you’ve paid already for the right to post your sets and musics

I’ve been using Mixcloud since it’s inception both as a DJ and now just a listener. Search is great, stability is good and if you can’t find what your after you must be a bit more weird than me! Happy days, highly recommended, just wish I could afford the pro version at the moment. 5stars from me

For many people now a days the struggle to survive is overwhelming at times when it is for me ,music gives me that strength to go on .The selection of styles of music on on mix cloud and the ease of use make the app worth having I have learnt sooo much just listen to mix cloud heard a reggae sound tonight never heard before ,I’ve been listening to reggae for about 43 years! Love the app but please fix this….

The app is great it has very good content and works really well. However there is one thing that hasn’t worked for what seems like ages! If there’s any devs listening please fix the issue that stops the now playing information showing on the Lock Screen. It’s so frustrating having to open the app to do anything. Also the blank box that appears on the Lock Screen is just ugly. Fingers crossed someone who can do something about it reads this.

Worse with new updates

I was actually pretty happy with an old version of the app I had, now I’ve had to update because the old version started preventing me from rewinding saying I needed to subscribe when I already was subscribed. Now with the new version the revamped look is woeful, it’s horrible and really bad to use whereas the old version was simple and worked well. Not impressed. I can’t even drag down from the middle to hide the player view which used to be supported, can only do this by pressing the down button at the top - why? What reason did you decide to just screw up usability for no gain?

Opportunities on Mixcloud

What a stage for up and coming dj’s to show their skills. What an opportunity for individuals to listen to new mixes. What an opportunity to follow colleagues who really enjoy their interests and talents. I started listening to Mixcloud to follow a friend of mine, who is a working dj and who really surprised me with his personal skills and talent on the decks, but in doing so also found other dj’s with truly hidden depths to their music. Keep it up Mixcloud..you make a difference.

Deliberate avoid of cancel sub or delete account

Do not subscribe. You can’t delete your profile from the website. The help faq gives a process only via the app. The app does not allow you to access the settings page. I’ve cancelled the subscription and it’s still trying to take the money with no way to delete the profile. The subscription page says I don’t have one, yet they’re trying to take it every month. Emailing support no reply. Clearly this is deliberate. Should have a remove profile option and cancel sub from all channels. That works. AVOID.

Why I love Mixcloud

It always has new and innovative music especially when Rusty A Egan is involved, who helped my by me finding a group I had missed called HURTS and others and introduced me to the fantastic line up of Chrissy Lopez, Isaac Howlett, Adam Relf and Oliver Marson, which make up the wonderful Empathy Test, whose Losing Touch or LT as their fans,( like me ) call it for short as it is a show stopper or show starter.

The No.1 Music App for me

Of all the ways to stream music now this is best app out there for all my music. I get to follow all my favourite DJs various radio stations and music providers that all use this service. My favourite being John Digweed who’s really shown what the app can do, his live streams during lockdown were by far the best quality and I’m still listening back offline thanks to MIxcloud. Great work guys, keep it up! Got any jobs 😀

Great!!!!

This app is great honestly I love it, I enjoy listening to other DJs and even once in a while listening to past mixes of my own.

It would be amazing and I’m sure many would benefit from being able to upload new mixes from their mobile device, through the app as currently you need to use the browser and at times this isn’t reliable and take take a good few attempts.

Good with a few bugs

Full of great mixes but doesn’t work with Apple Pay - clicking on AP to subscribe to a feed brings up payment option but even when verified doesn’t actually take payment and doesn’t register your account as subscribed - paying by credit card works fine.

Also Apple CarPlay doesn’t recognise downloaded content so you have to select from the phone to play.

Annoying you get penalised on the free version if it crashes

I love Mixcloud, I’ve used it for years and I understand it isn’t going to be as ‘free’ as it once was, I get that if you want premium features you need to pay a price, but whenever it crashes if you relaunch then try to get back to the same part in the mix it starts coming up with nonsense messages telling me off. It never used to crash as much a few years ago either .

Clunky and Awkward

Mixcloud is not the easiest to use, either on the web or the app. There doesn’t appear to have been any product iteration and the owners are satisfied with 1.0.

Adding tracks on the web is especially cumbersome, time consuming and buggy. I’ve given up putting times to tracks.

We keep using it because it’s all we’ve got but someone will come along with something slicker and lots of us will jump ship.

Listening in lockdown

For many of us locked up, locked in & locked down it has been a real struggle. Despite this physical isolation, Mixcloud has given so many of us a chance to connect, stay positive, discover a different perspective and most importantly give hope with light at the end of the tunnel through listening to such uplifting, thought provoking creative music. For me it has been a life line, an essential part of my day where my mood can be vastly improved by tuning in to either my go to favourite shows, or taking a chance and discovering something completely new. This has helped break the monotony of daily lockdown life and has given me hope! Thank you Mixcloud people for giving the opportunity for the Mixcloud community to generously share and spread their love of music!

Simply The Best Streaming Platform...Period!

Mixcloud allows me to connect to the music and creators that I love. I listen to Mixcloud in the car, while at home and just about anytime I can.

This is simply the best music streaming platform around allowing DJs to showcase their talents with diverse musical genres to suit everyone. Fav channels are Graeme Park, Allister Whitehead and Hed Kandi!

Love it and thank you to all behind the scenes that create this amazing platform. COVID lockdown would have been so much harder to deal with without you.

The forgotten joy of flipping through a record collection

This is a pure gift - hundreds, perhaps thousands, of musicians’ mixes to browse through. It’s not difficult to discover favourites, with great search-ability and cross-referenced suggestions. Mixcloud is the one music app I trust to lift me when I need it, accompany or console me, or to take me by the hand through a very cool voyage of discovery. All talent is here.

Keeps jumping/flickering

From yesterday I have had an annoying flicker & jumping of this app. It won’t settle on one show so that I can listen. I have deleted the app & reinstalled it. It appeared to have fixed the issue, now this morning the same flicking has reappeared.

I used to love this app and upgraded my iPad specifically, as my second generation iPad could no longer receive the updates.

Please sort this out MIXCLOUD!

P.S. my iPhone is fine, just my iPad.

Love this app but it’s stopped working in Apple play

Absolutely love this app, in fact it’s my absolute favourite music app. But I’m so sad that it has stopped working since the day I updated my iPhone 7 to iOS 14. On my cars Apple play system, It just keeps coming up with the message “unable to connect” I do hope that we get a bug fix. Long journeys haven’t been the same ever since this day.. Please help

Useless

Do not use this app to manage your desktop mixcloud.!! There is a massive disconnect between what you do on the app and hie it translates to the desktop version. I have inadvertently unfollowed hundreds of followers thanks to this fault, and the new limitations on how many people you can follow in 24 hrs means it will take months to rectify. Recent updates have utterly ruined what was an excellent service.!

Basics as premium

I’m sadly finding the app quite difficult to navigate; there are restrictions on basic functions such as rewinding, and the app seems to lose your place in a track frequently. So - you lose your place in a 3 hour track because it’s forgotten, you can scan forward to find where you were, but you can’t scan backwards.

It’s just a little flawed, and while I understand that it’s important to monetise it, surely it would be good to come up with a plan offering premium features rather than restricting basic functionality? It’s going to drive users towards other platforms which just work. Mixcloud has real value and utility as a platform just not feeling it in the app!

Frustrating

Lots of great content from my favourite artists and DJs and I’ve been using this for years but it’s driving me insane now. It NEVER remembers the last point where you were listening when you switch off and go back to it. You ALWAYS have to either start again or manually find the spot if you can remember where it was. Also for no apparent reason it hangs when changing tracks and the play button spins continuously. Please fix it as it is otherwise great.

Guys this app is outstanding. I use it daily. The past few days since the recent update it’s got temprimental where some times it’ll play a set. Other times it won’t play anything at all. Apart from that it’s 1 of the best streaming apps out there. I’m sure this is just a minor bug and will be sorted soon. 👊🏻

Used to be good

This is now a terrible music app. As soon as I leave home and it disconnects from my speaker it stops playing and I have to swipe up to close the app, then reopen it and if I’m lucky it remembers where I was up to. Then it connects to my car via either Bluetooth or CarPlay and as soon as I stop my car I have to repeat the whole process again. How on earth they think this might tempt me to pay for premium I don’t know!

My go to source for new music

I’ve used Mixcloud since day one to upload my own mixtapes and listen to other Dj’s. There is a wealth of amazing sessions to listen to to fit any mood. Ive grown a few hundred followers listening to my shows and have discovered some amazing music and DJs through Mixcloud.

There are a few minor limitations with playback if your not a pro subscriber but I think most people understand and can deal with that.

All in all a thumbs up from me as a listener and a DJ.

Can’t listen to any music without a problem

Can’t listen to any artist without Mixcloud just constantly not playing the music it just spins then jumps of your site completely back to my main apple page. I can’t listen to anything I download without it freezing up all the time. I can’t listen to any full session on Mixcloud. Now I’m not receiving any emails from my followers. How can it all be working great then an update arrives a few weeks ago and its never consistent with what you are wanting that’s why subscription is not an option until all these little issues are fixed and as I say the content is great but when it works. I phone user!

Lack of decent search and filtering makes it unusable

Two problems: you can’t follow a show - only a station. For example: i don’t want to Follow NTS: my feed is then flooded with hundreds of shows, none of which I care about. I just want to know when the two monthly shows that I follow post new episodes.

So search becomes really important - but that doesn’t work either because it doesn’t have any filters / sort by, and nor does it show new shows first, so this weeks show ends up many pages deep.

Until these are solved the app is useless to me.

Great content but rinses data streaming

The app is great and has a lot of sets you can’t find anywhere else. No option on the iPhone to download to the app so streaming the music eats up my data! Paying to “subscribe”, if available to each channel individually is more expensive than just buying the music in the first place! Not that anyone available to subscribe is on my list of music I listen to. Other streaming sites allow you to download to the app for a monthly fee....

Best music choice

IMO Mixcloud has a far better selection of music than Soundcloud, especially when it comes to live sets. And much easier to find. My only problem (and this may not be an app issue) is that you seem to have to be on Wi-fi to listen to live sets. Currently get about half an hour into my journey on 4G and streaming stops. Seems to get better once you’ve played the set a few times. Perhaps they could cache better?

A little frustrating

This app does the job well if you find a set and hit play. I often use it in the car or at the gym when my hands and eyes are tied up with something else. The problems start when the set you listen to finishes. Mixcloud decides to throw something else on unrelated to artists I’m following or tracks I’ve liked. Usually it’s cheesey and I have to turn off the music completely. Also my feed is full up of stuff other users listen to. I’m not interested! I want to see the latest set from people I follow.

I feel like I am using this app less and less because mixcloud wants me to do something I don’t want to do. If this is how mixcloud makes their money then that’s fair enough, I’m happy to pay a little for a few extra settings.

Have found lots of old top 20 & 40 shows from the 70s, 80s & 90s.

Also like listening to forgotten 80s & 90s old shows.

Cannot find off line listening! How do you do it ?

Thank you for fixing this app so i can use it on my old iPod & old iPad with 9.3.5. 😊😊😊.

What's next for future updates ? A download section perhaps ?? How will this work ?

On this latest version I’ve had some problems with adding shows to playlists which are missing on the lists of playlists to add the show to. 🙁🙁🙁.

For example I choose a 70s chart show, press ‘Add To Playlist’ and the playlist I want to add the show to isn’t there I.e 70s charts. What is going on here ?

Great App, Expansion to Other Platforms Needed

This app is phenomenally great! All the upcoming DJ’s and established DJ’s what they do best, app’s very easy to use and have not found any faults as of yet, quick not to the company. This app would become massive if you expanded to different platforms such as Xbox, for a gamer like me having the music playing in the background would be great! Please take this into consideration, it’s not only me who want this!!! Thank me later ;)

Something For Everyone

This app is great for those true music lovers. It’s got every category and fits every mood from some downtime chill to fresh out of a late night underground club. It’s never failed me to find just the right vibe with an array of playback options. If it had one drawback it would be that it lacks an apple watch app, other than that it is the most under rated app that deserves a little of the spotlight.

NO SUPPORT ON OFFER TO USER

I found the music show contents within good but and a big but Mixcloud have NO OFF LINE option even though it say it have also after spending 1 hour looking for their support within the App all I was able to find was an option call feedback and to date I have asked for help with OFF LINE and with no responses what so ever. I have also noticed the App has bugs, I know this because at times the controls freezes with no response and the only way to get it to work again is to refresh the app by closing it down via flicking it from your device and then you will need to start the whole process again at point you left off.

Essential app for any dance music fan

Mixcloud has been my go to platform since day one. Use it to post my mixes and listen to the best DJs on the planet. I’d be lost without this app! So much quality content, from the usual suspects to the undiscovered talent.

My only gripe is that the UI needs to be sorted for iPhone XS Max. It’s near on impossible to hit the play button at the bottom left of the screen especially when you have a case on the phone. Mixcloud devs please fix! Other than that, keep up the good work 😎

Starting to really become annoying

On v16.4 still not sorted.

I’ll be half way though a mix via Bluetooth be it, a speaker, headphones or car. Once it’s disconnected, maybe I get a call on my phone or I’ve stopped the car and then restarted my journey, place is lost in mix and in some occasions the app takes me back to something I was listening to a few days before.

If the same mix is on soundcloud I’m tending to use that instead now, so I know can stop listening to a mix & can get straight back in where l left off.

Playback position being lost

I use this app to listen to a few radio shows and podcasts but it’s virtually unusable for this purpose. If you pause the playback from the IPhone control centre the playback position isn’t retained and after a while it disappears from the control centre but when you go back in to the app the playback position has reverted to the beginning of the show. Even if you keep the app open during playback, when the phone locks and you then reopen the phone and app the playback time hasn’t been maintained and jumps to catch up to where you are.

If i could get the shows in another media other than this app or in the browser I’d delete this app and not bother with it again.

Not compatible with CarPlay/iOS12

Love this app, use it daily, when I’m not in the car…… because… ever since my iPhone 7 updated to iOS 12 it doesn’t work with CarPlay. If I manually use my phone to choose what I want to listen to, it plays no problem - but the screen says “cannot connect to Mixcloud. Try again?” I try and I try and I try and…… you get the point. I’ve updated my head pioneer head unit to the latest firmware update, I’ve test my phone, I’ve deleted the head unit from the phone, followed all the procedures I can find on the internet - all to no avail!

Please can you sort out a fix? Or can you tell me what I need to do to get it working?

Brilliant! but..

The last couple of updates have really ruined the experience.

I have sent feedback but have never heard anything so I’m doubtful that this review will be read but I will list the issues as I use Mixcloud every day and really recommend it but the user experience could be improved.

It’s very slow when scrolling through all of my favourites and the older the favourite in the list means very slow and delayed at scrolling through and very difficult to add it to a playlist as it will just crash in the end.

Recently the picture of the mix / cover sleeve does not show or takes ages to show.

Trying to quickly fast forward through a mix is very difficult and definitely needs improvement.

Any chance of filtering my faves? Show recently added or oldest as scrolling through nearly 800 of them is not that easy as it’s slow, sticky and delayed..

Great app but latest version refuses to run on iPad 2

Since the latest update 26 Feb, this app refuses to load crashing whilst loading every time on my iPad 2. Weird given the latest update is for iOS 9 support.

I loved the version before that update and used it pretty much daily.

Update: suggestion to upgrade to iOS 10 is not valid as it isn’t available for iPad 2. If the developer had tagged the last update for ios10 rather than ios 9 then my iPad would not have upgraded mixcloud.

A great app, it would be better if .....

Having used mixcloud for almost a year now, following djs around the world, favouriting and commenting, the app is clear, concise and intuitive. It’s easy to follow and get the latest shows notified to you easily.

However.

There is one thing that would make this perfect.

I travel on the train up to 10 hours a week, and the Internet is spotty.

If mixcloud had a download option for offline use, for when internet is not available, this would be my first go-to for new music and radio.

As there is already a player and some caching, I’m sure it can be achieved easily. As it’s all in the app the downloaded show can live for an specific time before it’s removed.

Love the app but fixes and improvements needed!

I love the feed, new shows, like, share, repost, etc. Especially love the CarPlay integration but two things are really troublesome. 1) App crashes my whole phone when switching between apps in the car, while connected to CarPlay. 2) iPhone X design updates should’ve happened when the phone was launched in November! Four months later it’s still not optimised. This in itself could be causing my first issue... iPhone X gestures to swipe across between apps is what causes Mixcloud to crash the whole phone. Very frustrating while driving!

Simple to use

I have only been using this app for a month on and off but so far have no qualms with it. It is easy to use as all of the expected controls are where they should be. It's easy to search for things too. The only thing that seems to be an issue is that links posted elsewhere seem to open in Safari on my iPhone (SE running iOS 10) not in the app. This is how I found out how good the search function is in the app.

All in all it's a good app.

Trance on, world off

Well I have had my account for years now. And have been trying to get into my account from last week.. I can't! As I deleted my Facebook account over a year ago and it won't allow me to sign in any other way?? I'm so dissapointed as I actually love mix cloud for all my mates Dj sets,,, is there any way I can get in touch with customer service or anyone?? I have tried everything. And no numbers or email addy are coming up to allow me to resolve this... so frustrating
