I had a booking on 20th July and checkin was at 15:00 and host cancelled the booking at 17:30. Still Airbnb is okay with it and send us other list of properties to again search. I begged them literally I have an infant they are so cruel to make me to stay outside. I never suggest this app for anyone.

The iPad app has become impossible to use. Finding somewhere to stay has become much more difficult with the introduction of categories such as ‘treehouse’. The category function seems impossible to turn off. The calendar function is flaky and once it thinks you have input dates it is really difficult to amend them. I wanted a Monday to Wednesday booking but it set as Monday to Tuesday. I then couldn’t either change this or clear it. I eventually gave up entirely.
I used to be able to browse an area for the relevant dates and look at all the accommodation. That simple task seems to be beyond the app.

I’ve used air bnb for 6 years and I’ve have had some lovely feedback from hosts. Most recently, I received an awful review commenting on my personal appearance from a host that simply did not want to apologise for our poor stay. I reached out to air bnb with concerns who replied even with photo evidence, it is not included under aircover which I could not believe. Several days later, I now have a review from an angry host commenting on my personal appearance stating I am ‘heavily overweight’ which I am not. Such a terrible experience and air bnb have completed a full investigation to which they believe there is no requirement to remove that terrible review from my profile. Personal appearance is irrelevant to my stay at the air bnb. After 6 years I am so disappointed with the lack of support from air bnb and have spread the word so innocent guests that are clean and tidy do not have to experience what I have. I’ll be deleting my air bnb account this week. Stick with booking.com and other booking sites where you truly have support if anything ever goes wrong. Very disappointing air bnb.

Trying to find a place is really frustrating. It shows 450 properties, I try and zoom in and it freezes. Try the list view instead, freezes.
Try the iPad version instead, a different set of problems. Narrow down to a town, shows 20 properties, go for a closer look, all but 3 disappear, zoom out and they’re there but can’t see details
Absolutely shocking testing.

Great concept and idea, however, having used this as a guest as well as a host over the last few years, a pattern has emerged.
Airbnb are only interested in getting your money, once you’ve booked and something goes wrong, customer service is a joke.
As a host, it’s even worse. Their backend systems don’t work half the time and the admin required to keep putting things right takes way too long. When contacting ‘premium super host support’ the experience is pathetic - the team don’t understand technical issues and make you repeat the problem to several different people before it goes anywhere.
Considering this is the biggest such platform in the world, I was expecting so much more.

Searching for listing has always seemed very poor, can’t filter or organise them in any decent way. But can always forgive it as things always go well.
But when they don’t their customer service is shocking, had a last minute cancellation just before we were due to fly and best they could do is offer £24 coupon, that couldn’t even be applied before we made a booking of more than the value of the last one. And just sent me a list of similar places, which were not similar. Worse quality for more. Not my idea of helpful or sympathetic.

I had an awful experience with a hostile host, who forced me to cancel a listing in order to give me access to my passport and belongings. Because the host had exploited this loophole by making me be the party who cancelled, Airbnb offered me absolutely no protection. I wasn’t even able to leave a negative review of the host.
I’m absolutely appalled by this experience, and wouldn’t recommend anyone to use Airbnb anymore I’m afraid. I was a loyal customer for nearly 10 years, but I’ll be using other alternatives from now on.

This app and company are facilitators of scams. You might be lucky to find a suitable property, but if you become a victim of fraud by unregulated hosts, you will be left without any support, often in a foreign country without speaking the language. Airb&b customer services are terrible and you talk to twenty people for several days to resolve any issues. Booking a hotel is much more secure and reliable as it's a regulated activity with established standards and customer protection.
I don't recommend risking your and your family's safety using this service.

Issue with connecting calendars. Created 3 listings - different types of rooms and rates. App asked to connect calendars which I pressed yes to. Someone was able to book a room whilst another the same date. Advised airbnb - ignored and unfair fees threatened despite me and guest agreeing a resolution. Additionally it says I have 4 unread messages - click on all messages and nothing/not one.
Now have issue typing and using app!! App blinks and randomly cuts out. Typing starts and then disappeared and the cursor moves to another pet of typing?? Like now ^^ on iPhone.

I would highly recommend not using this app purely because of the company’s lousy business plan. The last few times I’ve tried to book somewhere - the host cancels last minute with absolutely zero protection for the customer. One instance of a holiday I had booked months in advance and was cancelled on about a week before. You get refunded the original amount but you are then stuck without accommodation for your holiday and have to book far more expensive accommodation. Until they enforce customer protection against hosts I would highly recommend using a proper booking site that doesn’t allow last minute host cancellations

One of my biggest mistakes was becoming a host on this app. Without notice they shut my account while forcing me to host the guests that have already booked my flat. I was left with huge rent and half of the time an empty flat and now even can’t rent my flat as Airbnb puts penalties of around £50 on me for each cancellation. Don’t ruin your financial life by using this nonsense app.

Just booked with a host who allowed me to book and then messaged me to cancel the reservation myself (when the cancellation charge was 100%) - obviously I refused so they cancelled it - then they relisted it minutes later for someone else to be scammed (someone I know and the same thing happened !) I told Airbnb support who said there’s nothing they can do as I had Been refunded. The host is doing this to many people waiting for one person to cancel it themselves so host can keep the money! Chargeback exists and Airbnb will be fined. Awful customer support was repeating the same things I had already told them. Avoid this awful company would rather use booking.com better support and they are quicker to stop scammers!

Hate the way it starts showing one price per night on the map. Then you click thru and it sometimes discounts the price, so you think great, I’ve found somewhere within my budget! Then you click thru to book and it adds a massive Airbnb fee which takes it way over the original map price!
Time after time I’m finding it much cheaper just to book somewhere else via another app/website. Where at least they consistently show the same price throughout the booking process. So even if it’s the same price as Airbnb, I’ll still book elsewhere, as I don’t feel like I’ve been tricked. Sorry Airbnb, you used to be great, but now you’re very average!

Such an awful user interface. I must have logged in to AirBnB using Facebook, about 7 years ago. The platform won’t allow me to log in using my telephone or email address without surrendering my Facebook password. Why? After jumping this hurdle, we log in and book an apartment. The booking will not proceed without confirming so much personal information, it’s a complete faff. So what was the point in insisting in my Facebook credentials upfront?? A painful experience of limp technology. The joke is, the guest pays for this professional interface at the point of booking.

Airbnb recently has been unfair towards hosts and biased towards guests. Completely letting go of their business model. Hosts provide the homes that you profit from. Theses are our homes not yours. They robbed me blatantly of parts of my profit and blamed it on my bank as an international fee. Even though the bank I use is the same for years and I have received multiple payments from Airbnb and other platforms like booking.com or Google or PayPal to this bank account and was never charged a fee. My bank always waived charges. Please someone contact me immediately to resolve this issue as your customer support service is becoming abysmal to say the least.

We recently booked via Airbnb, which I thought was two rooms when it was only one.
The images were presented in a way that made it seem like there were two rooms. For instance, the different bookcases and bedspreads in each photo made it appear like they were taken in separate rooms at different times
Despite my attempts to address the issue with their support team, I received no satisfactory response.
It's disappointing to see a platform as large as Airbnb allow this type of marketing to continue. Overall, I find Airbnb's support for such practices to be a disgrace and cannot recommend their platform in good conscience.

Airbnb app is good until you have a problem… They have this stupid policy that won’t allow guests to cancel/get refund in case of cancellation when booking for over 2-3 weeks, so you spend a lot of money straight away and get stuck with it so there is no room for guests to have some flexibility. On the other hand, our host cancel our stay just ONE week before our flight with no reason or message to explain why, so as you can imagine the stress level and having to find an airbnb last minute, it cost us more than double the initial price and what did we get from airbnb?? A ridiculous discount on our next stay that wouldn’t even cover the service fee…. After contacting the customer service they delayed their response on purpose until the day we actually had to fly so I was left with this ludicrous discount and NO help from airbnb whatsoever!!! Absolute shocking customer experience…. But looking at reviews here looks like hosts experience is as rubbish as guests…. Gone down hill really this app…..

I had to call multiple times a day for 3 days for someone to actually take some action regarding the issue i had, furthermore i’ve been told to just wait while airbnb will contact the host and that they will cancel the reservation right away when none of them have happened until after 3 days. Second reason for my rating is Lena, the operator that didn’t take my phobia of cockroaches seriously, being sarcastic about it after i had to spend the first night on the street due to cockroaches infestation at the airbnb location. She also spoke with me with an inappropriate tone, being rude and impolite. Overall, I’m extremely disappointed with customer support, i felt neglected and not taken seriously. Thanks to the host, this issue was solved, otherwise i don’t know what I would’ve done.

Dear Airbandb, I had a reservation request where the pricing charges were wrong. The clients had requested pet stay, but it was not included. I phoned and the assistance told me that it was normal. I was told that the fee was divided into the night's rate. I showed that it wasn’t included. I was told that the assistant needed time to investigate and that he would call me back in 5 minutes. I haven't received a callback. The pre-request was cancelled, and the pet fee was added. I had to send another message to understand why it had happened. I had another call back and the assistant told me the same thing. That the pet fee would not be specified. But in fact, it always shows at the reservation. He could not explain and he said that an manager would call me back. The manager was speaking aggressively, as it was my fault to inquire why the charges were 40% lower than it should be on the first pre reservation. She said that the call was been recorded and that she would only apologise (actually her ton and Speach wasn’t apologetic at all) at the end I requested another email where I could sent my complaint to and for the recording of her phone call. The manager said that would send me both. ( which didn’t happened). It is said to see how you treat a client and host that is being with you for 7 years. Completely lack of respect. Regards,

Beware! I have been a customer for a few years now and had thought the world of this app. Recently however I’ve had a succession of things gone wrong that I want you to beware. Firstly, a number of places suddenly introduced extra T&C’s and fees off the platform without any repercussions from AirBnB. The last booking failed to mention they share a courtyard with a nightclub, vibrating furniture and noise at 2am. And here was me naively thinking if I move me, a baby and a 10-year old due to the kids needing sleep, I’ll get a refund of the unused nights. Oh how wrong was I!! Despite the advised Aircover guarantee, there is no actual guarantee. I’ve just been sent round the hoops contacting support 5 different ways to no avail.

I had a situation where I stayed in a apartment in Nigeria and the AC wasn’t working.
The host couldn’t fix it quickly and it was said to take up to 2 hours to get someone to come check it.
Due to the intense heat in the room I had to leave as Africa is very hot for someone who is from the uk and I could have gotten heat stroke
The customer service at air bnb is robotic and very very poor. I explained to The agent Josh I spoke to that clearly I had waited for over half an hour in a hot room and that the host couldn’t fix it easily and said it could take up to 2 hours to get someone to come down and I couldn’t risk my health staying in the room due to heat stroke risk !
Instead of honoring the guarantee of get what you pay for which stated as an example that if a refrigerator stops working and can’t easily be fixed you are due a equivalent stay or refund
The agent Josh refused to honor this despite me showing clear proof from call records and WhatsApp records that my story was correct and true. It’s a very dishonest and fraudulent way to handle a long time customer … I deleted the app and found an alternative that is crooked like air Bnb ..
They lost a customer of 8 years …

I would like the option to view properties before renting for longer stays (1 month +). I’ve been staying in air bnbs for a few months waiting for a house transaction to go through and it’s a bit hit or miss what your going to get from pictures alone. Like there might be a weird smell or furniture is old etc that you wouldn’t get from pictures and if your staying a while this can be annoying.

Tried to book a property for the weekend and reserved it. I was told I wouldn’t be charged until the booking was confirmed. Airbnb took my money anyway and then a few minutes later I was told my booking had been cancelled by Airbnb because it was my first time booking and I was not allowed to book the property so they now have my money and I have no holiday. I spoke to live chat who were incredibly unhelpful and that if I wanted to book the property I had to do it on someone else’s account and I go with them.. so hundreds of pounds down and not happy at all. I will never use this app again. Only care about getting your money and holding on to it for as long as they can. Who knows if I will actually get the money back!

The places you get to view in itself can be great (please be mindful with some) but don’t even get me started with the app. it is absolutely horrific.
I have no idea who trained the customer support but it was such a vile, patronising experience to have dealt with.
Had cancelled a stay due to uncleanliness and a infestation of bugs/spiders but was given a £60/£300 refund and I hadn’t even been at the property longer than an hour. £80 was stated non-refundable as it was a CLEANING FEE!!! Absolute cheek.
I took many pictures just so my young self wasn’t doubted, forwarded proof to the live chat whilst on the phone with an employee only to be told they spoke with said host and HE refused a full refund. In absolute disbelief i suggested to no longer use the service itself and they managed to refund an extra £32. such a vile experience. never using again.
Hopefully you won’t have a late cancellation due to any of this but if you do, please make sure you don’t cancel via the app, call and talk to someone even if you have to wait til the morning as they’ll refuse a refund if you do this step yourself. But they don’t tell you that.

Arrived at the place booked with Airbnb, to find out that the pictures from the place were taken 6 years ago. The place was a complete disaster, very very dirty with cracks in the walls, with the pool full of green stuff. Absolute disgrace. Had to leave from there straight away (the place had 4.9 stars in their reviews).
When I filled for a refund with Airbnb, they said that they can only refund me 10% of the first day and the rest of 7 days no refund.
Being in Asia it was had to have contact on the phone with Airbnb support so I had to use the chat. After each message, I would get something like …. You have to wait 14/15 hours for a reply.
Do not book your stay with this company, they will steal your hard worked money.

This app USED to be amazing. However this past month I lost a lot of money due to the way my issues were handled by the airbnb team. DO NOT SIGN UP AS A HOST ON THIS APP The team seem to now completely disregard hosts’s interests. Examples: Case 1: a guest did not show up at my property, although this was mentioned to the team, my dates stayed blocked. I had a strict cancellation policy so I was happy that, at least, I would not be loosing everything. YET, 2 weeks later, I am told that the guest would be refunded because the address is incorrect. After 3 years of providing the same address on the website, I was completely let down by the airbnb team when the guest said they could not find the address (when actually they just decided to change and get a hotel) and I was told that I was in the wrong. Case 2: a guest books three months in advance but one of the booked days has been advertised as free when it was not. I tell the guest IMMEDIATELY. Cancellation works. HOWEVER, the team then blocks the whole time that was initially booked by that guest and charges me a penalty. No, airbnb policies are not here to help hosts anymore. Yes, airbnb is loosing the heart, the reason why we all signed up for it. Dehumanized, airbnb is now a robot which tries to provide guests with “hotel quality” stays and punishes hosts who are not 100% satisfying guests. Dear potential hosts, run. There are much better alternatives.

Airbnb was ok up until my last rental the villa had many problems the fridge is not cold the dining table wobble and only for four people table and there is seven of us so we have to have our dinner in the garden the lights don’t work in the garden so we try finish our dinner before dark there was cockroaches everywhere including in the bathroom I booked for seven people but there is only one double bed two single beds and two sofa bed that are very uncomfortable to sleep on and only two bedrooms and the host hide charge for using the AC is €15 per night but the charges was hidden in the house rules so I didn’t know until a few days later which it was too late to cancel all I will loss all my money So I wrote a review the host and Airbnb took my review off then I read all the other reviews only good reviews bad ones get taken off so my advice is read carefully before you book anything so I paid over price for a two bedrooms villa no private pool

I never leave reviews but I just want to share some great energy towards this creation!
In this world you need certain things to rent a place (such as proof of work, a certain income, past records of payments from your job etc) which you may not have if you live a different type of lifestyle (such as having your own business which pays irregularly or if you like to live life going place to place exploring and living on your savings) which can make it difficult to even get a roof over your head..
with this app it makes it so much easier for free spirits to know we will always have a sense of security and not have to worry about how we’re going to live day to day but can still live how we want to without having to be locked into a contact that doesn’t serve our highest selves.
The freedom that comes with this app is a breath of fresh air and has really opened up possibilities to live more freely in sync with yourself and not have to worry about all the extra stuff just to get a roof over your head. It’s so simple and straightforward and I’m very grateful that it exists while I do 💛

Very dissapoonted with your help. I thought Airbnb was really there to support me of hosts are cheating - I trusted your system but now I understand you actually can't help much for the following reasons:
1. We complained about balcony that was on tbr pictures but as we found out the blinds were so broken that no one could raise them and hence can't acces balcony (and of course broken blinds mean less light too) - but Airbnb didn't help in this - balcony was not listed as ammenity - that was the answer - well, what a shame! - What about misleading customers with pictures? Do you really allow that? Shame on u.
We complained about the noise to host and to airbnb - it was on tje FIRST day that we mentioned it - unbearable renovation noises that were statying from 8am and lasted throughout afternoon on ALL 4 days we stayed there - what was Airbnb "Help"? - giving us $28 coupon??? And we had proofs/videos taken every morning and sent those for u... Such a shame
Poor help and interperetation of policies that discriminate guest - applause Airbnb - you made money on this listing, host made money - and only ones suffered- the guests - get a 28$ coupon to shut up? Really frustrating experience... Beware!

Booking cancelled at last minute

Last year I booked an apartment in Rio, Brazil, for a month. Back then, My booking was accepted and I paid the fees in full. Check in day was supposed to be in a week’s time today. Last night I received a message from the host cancelling my booking. I’ve asked for an explanation by messaging the host a number of times and had no replies. Airbnb contacted me informing me they would refund me the amount I had paid. Meanwhile they offered me alternative options of accommodation but inferior to my initial booking and twice the price I had initially paid.
I contacted Airbnb explaining I wasn’t happy with the way they deal with hosts as they seemed to accept the host’s excuse. I now have less than a week to find an alternative accommodation. There aren’t many apartments available obviously and the ones available are not worth the rated requested by the hosts.
My view is, if there’s a last minute cancellation from the hosts we guests should be given a compensation for the inconvenience caused. In case I had to cancel my booking today, I would have had a penalty to pay.
It is unfortunate that this issue is unfairly dealt this way by Airbnb.

I just updated the app but I’m still getting the same error - every time I attempt to Reserve a place, the app gives me a “something went wrong, retry” error and no further explanation. At the moment I am unable to book anything, which is very disappointing as that’s the one thing I need to be able to do.
The UI is also pretty inconsistent. Sometimes I can filter for “free cancellations” in the filters pane, sometimes it disappears from the pane and shows up on a bar instead (but only after I right swipe). There are also many small (but impactful) changes to the app, which happen frequently, that make me feel like I can never rely on a consistent experience. I’d rather you shoot out your updates all at once every quarter and walk me through what’s changed rather than quietly slip small, fragmented changes in.

They won’t allow hosts to add pet fees at checkout, however their T&Cs clearly mention ANY fee has to be included in the checkout.
Then when you try to cancel a reservation you made as a guest (with the pet filter on), because your host is forcing you to pay extra fees for the pet, they say they can’t help you?
So essentially because of a lack of feature in their product, I have to be out of pocket?
On top of this, the customer service is the worst I’ve experienced. Whilst the clearly staffed their call centre (response times are extremely fast), they haven’t empowered their customer service agents (nor informed about their T&Cs which I seemed to be more acquainted with than them). Nobody I’ve spoken to has been able to think on their own feet and just repeated the cancellation policy (which is irrelevant in this case) like robots. It’s impossible to speak to a manager and every day they will tell you a supervisor will give you a call, but nobody calls you back.
When you ask them to give you an idea of their resolution time, they say either don’t respond or say they don’t know. Who cares about SLAs right? What a joke. I will make sure to avoid booking with Airbnb in the future. So disappointing

Myself and two friends booked accommodation about a month ago in Sheffield. We payed £300 as we needed to attend a festival in Sheffield. We also payed £120 for three festival tickets. When we arrived at the property in Sheffield we couldn’t get into the property and tried to ring the woman and she didn’t answer. We then rang customer service who long story short said they had made a mistake and not put our order through and weren’t expecting us. They said they would find alternative accommodation for us and we are still waiting to hear from them. We have had to travel all the way home, which airbnb clearly couldn’t care less about so we have been totally messed about. We were promised a refund so we could get another place and still haven’t had confirmation. So have been left high and dry so now we have lost out festival tickets money and haven’t had a refund. What a shambles I will never use Air BNB again. If I could put zero star review I would do as one star is flattering.

As a Super host, I always go above and beyond to ensure that my Guests have a really wonderful experience when staying with me. Airbnb reward this on occasion by giving Superhost’s an incentive to continue to put in maximum effort. Having received over 80 five star reviews, I received a small voucher to spend towards an Airbnb stay. I booked a place in Wales during the pandemic using my voucher. Wales then went into a National lockdown. I was unable to travel into Wales as this was against the law. I did not and could not use my voucher. I asked Airbnb to use the voucher against a stay when the restrictions were lifted… they refused saying I had already used up the voucher. I tried to get them to see that I hadn’t used the voucher but they still refused…they are worth 111billion dollars… sadly they didn’t feel able to reissue a voucher that had cost them nothing…I find their decision short sighted and very mean.

used to use this app in the past and it worked relatively ok. three issues why i stopped using it : 1. you pay more with this app than if you logon anonymously ( say thru facebook or apple) which doesn't look correct to me ( may be they are looking only for market share and consider the client are granted forever…). 2. in the app there is no way to contact airbnb for a problem directly : basically they want your money but not your problems.
3. They believe that it is an obligation that you should leave a review for each of your stay( as far as i know we are not paid for) giving the first issue, i propose that you stop leaving them any review until they treat correctly the actual customers and not taking them for cows

We recently spent a week at this excellent Air BnB. The tastefully furnished 3 bed Villa is situated in a quiet residential area just opposite the North Shore beach and affords uninterrupted views of the Island of Arran and its spectacular sunsets.
The area is popular with walkers and the shore trail to nearby Seamill is well trodden. The amenities in the house are also excellent and a well stocked welcome box awaits including a bottle of sparkling wine. A house information leaflet and a popular walks leaflet are provided.
The rear well maintained garden with raised decking with baluster and large table and cushioned chairs has the sun into the evening and a good place for a glass or two wine.
The caretakers Loretta and Pat are very friendly and always on hand and very responsive if needed. Oh and almost forgot the beds are to die for and guarantee a sound and restful sleep

I accidentally made a booking and immediately canceled I was charged for 1night plus service charges due to the booking being canceled in less then 24hrs ok arrival date. I tried to request a full refund as it was a mistake a slip of the finger and was canceled immediately but no luck I lost £121 for literally nothing. I awaited the rest of my refund of £253 to which I never received. And have now been charged the full stay of £374 even though it was canceled, even though I requested a refund and was told they were looking into it, even though I didn’t stay at the place so I have been charge a total of £374 for making a tiny mistake of booking in the middle of trying to contact a host to make inquiries. The contact centre is useless I would like to receive my refund as is Airbnb policy and my right !

Beyond infuriating that a company of this size can’t dig a bit deeper and use a more reliable address that actually allows you to put your correct address in.
If you do manage to get it to accept a somewhat correct address they just change it to an incorrect address.
I know where I live thank you very much,for you to say there’s not enough information when trying to save my listing adresss (it tells me to add a street name etc which is already there......) when every possible bit of information is there is quite frustrating, I’ve not experienced this issue on any other website or platform.
The app is designed to help people find locations to stay but doesn’t let you provide accurate information in order to successfully advertise your property and allow guest to find you.
Unbelievable that Googling the issue just brings up forums full of people having the same issue with no resolution other than to accept the address they want you to have(an incorrect one)

I did have one situation when I asked for a refund I got in contact with the customer support via the app the team then sent me there customer support number so called them up and told them I cancelled my travels and got a coupon refund which I was very happy with and this got sorted out within the space of 15 minutes. 👍🏻
So I would definitely recommend this service to anyone who would want to give Airbnb a try.

I booked a weekend away with my partner using Airbnb for our anniversary on the 1st of January. I was offered the chance to pay extra money in order for a refund if I needed to cancel for any reason. I took this chance and payed the bit extra for the refund as it made me feel more secure however I had no intention in cancelling. On the 30th of December the government announced my local area would be going into tier 4 on the 31st of December. This meant it would be illegal for my partner and I to travel. This meant I unfortunately had to cancel. I received NO REFUND even though I had paid extra for the guaranteed refund! I emailed both the host and Airbnb to apply for a refund but was refused! I could not believe this. Would not recommend using this app unless you fancy throwing away your money. AIRBNB WERE EXTREMELY UNHELPFUL AND DID NOT CARE ABOUT MY PROBLEM. Only reason I’ve given one star is because you have to put at least one star to publish a review. Don’t waste your time with Airbnb.

Have tried thirteen properties, all of which are showing availability for the dates I want yet when I select the dates it comes up “date unavailable” but it’s showing as available. I’m selecting the right start and end dates in line with the owners wishes, I’ve tried multiple combinations of dates and durations and the same error occurs. Have used Air BnB a lot in the past and always had a good experiences until now
Took a credit for my cancelled holiday instead of pursuing a cash refund that I didn’t want to wait for. Due to waiting forever for flight refunds and being low on funds I rebooked with air bnb for a UK holiday I opted for deposit and balance payment assuming I could use my whole credit for cash I paid back in February. Found out the hard way that you can only utilise the whole credit when you pay for another trip in full, not deposit and bal payment. You can’t use any remaining credit for balance payment. This then forces you to then book another trip to use up your remaining credit otherwise you lose it.
Spoke to them on the phone on three occasions and they gave no reason except that’s how the system is set up. Not only do they keep my money for the first cancelled trip I am forced to take two more with cash paid on top to recoup my money. Not at all happy about it and customer service did nothing to help, will avoid using them in future and will advise family and friends to do the same!

I’ve been using this app for a couple of years now and it never failed me. Even when I had a few stumbles, their customer support are very quick to response and very well mannered (Meraflor ☺️)

I’ve recently read a whole article on this ‘airbnb’ thing. Some woman tried to book a room with hosts named ‘becky & Andrew’ however apparently in the room she booked there had been plumbing issues so they offered to update her to a bigger room. Turns out they said this to everyone. If you declined the request of upgrading to a bigger room and asked for a refund , you’d only get half back of what you originally payed. This is how the ‘hosts’ made their money. They also create fake profiles on Facebook , LinkedIn etc using photos from websites like shutterstock. I’ve read that a lot of people have booked rooms and found it extremely strange as the rooms look nothing like what they show on their app. For example the furniture looks as if it’s been picked up off the street and the tables are all battered etc. This is a complete scam to get money. Please don’t book hotel rooms on this app as you won’t get your money’s worth at all.

Two different groups of my family enjoyed this wonderful experience. We found it fascinating and fun and we learned so much from George and his brother. We would definitely recommend it to anyone who is able to go.
The only downside for us was that just before the village of Agios Mathias there was another unsightly smelly load of rubbish on the side of the road which hadn’t been collected. We have seen these all over the south of the island. Please please Corfu officials do something about this eye sore. It is a blot on the landscape of a stunningly beautiful island.

We suffered from serious health disorders from flies and other nasty insects we rented from air bnb. As soon as we found out where it come from we contacted Airbnb. We have been to the hospital, paid for drycleaning and thrown away all food items bought from there as doctors said we might have brought these nasty insects with and we need to stop the spreading by defumating luggages... we are very disappointed by the level of support from air bnb as they only accepted to refund the reservation. Medical costs, dry cleaning costs, psychological consequences were not taken into consideration. This is a big disappointment and we will never use air bnb again. They clearly trust anyone and use contaminated flat for their own sake without checking them out. Do not trust them , it doesn’t worth your health!

The apartment was in a modern newly converted building of many flats. The flat itself was on the 1st floor and exactly as advertised inside. Perfect for a 5 minute walk to an amazing beach with buzzing activity all day and into the evening. Plenty of beach diners and restaurants with out the need to venture into the city centre. The harbours were close too with lots of activity and night life. The city was a bit of a trek but this was exactly what we needed.
The bathroom needed some maintenance such as broken toilet lid, towel rails loose and not secure.
The bed linen and towels were luxury and the air conditioning was a must for the hot evenings. Great place for a get away.

I wish I could as positive as others - every booking we have made has delivered poor accommodation - from scruffy to dirty to smelly - with poor quality items towels with feeling of hand me downs or from charity store. So disappointed. Had to leave last booking before actually got set up in the flat - it was late and found B&B hotel that was very nice and cost just the same as Abnb booking. There appears to be little regulation on the places other than client feedback. The last place had glowing reports - what we found did not match the reports and we had to walk away. As there was so many things - it soon became clear that the images on the web site were very old and did not show what it was like at time of booking. I am sure there will be great places out there - may be one day.

Making a booking took three attempts. Only the third one finally worked (hosts had not updated the dates or had wrong prices), but all three payments to AirBnb worked flawlessly. I am now waiting for my money back and it can take up to 15 days and creates cash flow issues.
The experience is optimised to maximise AirBnB revenue rather than my ability to get a booking. Perhaps optimising your app to check if the property details are correct and charging me when availability is confirmed would bring me back.

After using Airbnb for a while as a host with high personal standards, I just had an appalling experience as a guest. I arrived in a place that looked nothing like the description, was dirty and feeling unsafe in the evening after a long haul flight. I told the host who couldn’t care less...! So I quickly decided I needed to get out and find an alternative (which ended up expensive on last minute night search in a busy city due to events happening...). I messaged the host and Airbnb to let them know, and asked to have the money back: neither Airbnb nor the host would reimburse fees and the cost of the stay, and they wouldn’t do ANYTHiNG to verify facts or protect the current and future customers. I found this shocking and should be reported to customer protection... they wash their hands from responsibility hiding behind the fact that they are just a third party platform, which is totally wrong in my sense.

Used before and been ok.
Booked a room on Thursday for Saturday. Dog became ill and started bleeding on our floor.
Tried to phone host 7 times and left messages. No reply
Phoned Airbnb on the Friday. They said we could cancel and get a full refund even though it didn’t fit with the hosts own policy. They said air bnb would cover it.
At this point my daughter and I would have still gone on the trip. But, because Airbnb told us they’d refund in full, we all stayed at home.
On Saturday they messaged us saying they wouldn’t refund.
I’ve been on the phone ever since asking them to listen to the recorder call. Each call takes about 25 minutes. Different person in a different country each time, starting from the beginning. It’s expensive to call. I’ve now spent more on the calls than the room.
I no longer trust this company and will never be using them again. I’ll also do my best to make sure everyone I know is aware how insignificant you are as a customer.
It’s one thing having friendly people working in customer services, but if they give you inaccurate information that costs customer lots of money, it shouldn’t be tolerated

It use to be a great app and a great idea, but there is a major bug that needs addressed and also the developers need to get their priorities straight.
Point 1 - the algorithms the app uses when searching for a place has changed and now viewers are shown expensive, fancy and ‘recommended’ places first, meaning the average users place is extremely hard to find meaning a lot less bookings, almost rendering it useless. Airbnb needs to remember why it started in the first place and the sort of people that made it what it is today. I get the feeling that if we pay them more we would have better results but imho they are getting plenty and are a billion dollar company and have just grown selfish.
Point 2 - When trying to delete or rearrange photos, the app crashes, but worryingly it also seems to make my whole phone crash. Have tried on my girlfriends phone and the iPad and it does the same thing. Makes the screen turn black with the white spinning wheel, and the only way to get through it is to wait it out as home buttons etc become useless.
Really hope they go back to the way things use to be as it was such a great app before.

No respect for renters rights. A con. Go elsewhere!

I’ve used air bnb since it first started. It’s going down hill, the customer service is diabolical. My last three experiences: property listed that I made a payment for will have been sold by the time I come to rent it. No mention of this on the listing. No hint of an apology from the owner when she told us. She’s french after all . Apartment in NYC had bed bugs. We submitted photos to the owner and to Airbnb resolutions. No apology, no refund, no gesture of good will. Apparently we went through the system of complaint incorrectly so we had no leg to stand on. It took 1 month of missed calls, crossed e mails, delayed messaging because the resolution woman was ill, yet one of the comments from the script she was working from was, they couldn’t refund because too much time had passed. I wrote a negative review for the listing detailing how the super host had handled us. It was edited down to: This customer had a negative experience. Lastly, I made an overall complaint to Airbnb and no response 3 months later. Indeed I feel hopeless no one will read this review. I see in the media there are tons of negative Airbnb experiences . Unreliable access to messages and calendar

The app is fairly straight forward and visually well designed. Mostly simple steps and most topics and features logical to find, however I have repeated problems with the app freezing, lagging and failing to update both the calendar and messages - pretty much the MOST important parts of the app to access quickly both as a traveller and host. I often have to repeatedly go in and out of the app and cycle between menus for minutes to hours before The app will display all messages including new notifications, even when the banner on the phone has alerted me to the message being delivered (and being able to be read via email). This is not a network connection issue as it happens regardless of cellular data or WiFi use, with other apps such as email are functioning fine. This has slowed down my speed of response and lead to confusion and delays when accepting or declining bookings when I’m unable to display the updated calendar to compare with existing bookings - both of which are criteria that I as a host am then judged and penalised for by Air BnB themselves. The app needs a fix to be fit for purpose.

I’ve used this app mostly for hosting rather than traveling and it’s very handy when it’s working properly. I manage a few properties so it’s useful having the calendar to hand so I can organise changeovers and liaise with guests. It’s also useful having all the info about guest booking so I can check names and number of guests arriving, requests made via the messaging service and message guests if required. For the most part the messaging works fine but unfortunately the calendar keeps crashing which really is a pain. Each time it does this I have to reinstall the app. Sometimes this is quick but other times it takes ages which is also a pain when you need to check something quickly. I’ve had to do this at least 20 times over the past few months. If this glitch was fixed then it would be a 5* app but until then only 3.
On another note, I’m quite surprised at the reviews of Airbnb as a company and accommodation here 😂 These ratings and reviews are meant for the Airbnb app! 🙄 Not the fab place you stayed in Plymouth or your dodgy experience 🙄😂

I have nothing but praise for Airbnb. It has got me far more bookings for my holiday home than I would have managed organically. It’s a great platform without doubt. Anyway my irritation is with the iOS app that’s been here ever since I’ve been using Airbnb. If you flick through your inbox messages then need to to quickly flick to the calendar to check bookings, it ALWAYS freezes out and white screens. You then have to quit out the app then reopen and it’s fine again.. until you want to open the calendar again after looking at your inbox messages. It happens on all iOS devices I have ie iPhones and iPads. I keep hoping Airbnb will fix it with the numerous bug fix updates, but sadly no, this old problem is still here. Not the end of the world but annoying none the less. Please fix this.

Two main frustrations with this app are:
- Pricing is very misleading. When you go to book your stay, it then adds on extra cleaning costs and a service fee. These vary a lot depending on the owner, so you never really know the true cost until you click ‘book’. Once you have chosen your stay dates and number of guests, it really should be able to give you an accurate price whilst you browse, this would be much fairer.
- You can’t search based on distance to anywhere. If you want to stay in a specific area, you just have to keep clicking on every property one by one and look at the map. Really not helpful.
However, as a safe, trustworthy and convenient way of bringing landlords and travellers together, it’s still a brilliant app. I’ll never use hotels again.

This is my first time using the app.
Stayed at a place which was absolutely not as advertised. It is the peak of the holiday season and all property prices are sky high so it was difficult for me to find somewhere else.
This marred my view of Airbnb immediately because I thought to myself there needs to be some kind of check in place by Airbnb before hosts list their properties and reel people in.
I thought I was in for a very long fight when I picked up the phone to tell Airbnb of my concerns with the property.
What followed, was some of the best customer service, and an immediate refund.
The agent even helped me search other rival sites when nothing was found on Airbnb as a suitable replacement.
I’m not sure whether I should disclose that but that shows a willingness to accept responsibility and assist their customers over and above what was expected.
My credit card was refunded within 24 hours, and I was able to find somewhere more suitable.
Would I use the app again?
Maybe for more trusted/verified reviewed properties, but yes. This experience with Airbnb has not deterred me from using them in future, in fact I feel more confident.

Very bad experience with my booking of air bnb. The first house we booked was fake and doesn’t exist. The anxiety and frustrations when we arrived to a foreign country was enormous especially when we arrived late afternoon and nowhere to go as it was difficult to look for another accommodation. I wasted too much money because the accommodation we acquired was already expensive as we only booked on same day we arrived. The amount of phone calls I made seeking help from air bnb was terrible, it took me 3 hours to sort out, but it was not sorted out. Air bnb was not helpful in seeking a replacement for our accommodation. Instead, I just asked my payment back and I offered myself to look for our new accommodation instead as it was late at night already. I regret a lot why I booked our accommodation through air bnb.

We love using Airbnb because it keeps all the information in one place and is so easy to use. The links to information for guests could be improved so they are more visible, but to be honest it’s not hard to find if you know to look, so repeated use means it is easy and since Airbnb is designed to be used repeatedly, once you work it out it’s simple. As a host, the information in the App is invaluable. You can access conversations you’ve had with guests so that even if they book months in advance, you can give them first class attention with ease.

We’ve had a couple of good experiences with Airbnb so far but feel really let down by our most recent experience. We booked nearly 12 months in advance but had no communication from the host. The host also took the property offline during this period. Eventually after raising concerns with Airbnb the host did get in touch and reassured us all was well. Airbnb encourages us to trust the host who said they would contact us the month before to arrange access. With no contact from the host we contacted them again and they promptly cancelled on us - the week prior to departure!
Airbnb do not allow you to feedback directly on the host and it’s not possible to complain either. They offer to rebook or a full refund but this host can still offer their property to others with more or less no sanction. Feels very much like they don’t care. Use with caution!

I’ve been letting and renting with Airbnb for around ten years. And have been a big fan for most of that time...The app is now a horrible, greasy marketing tool. Rather than a tool to serve the clientele! Sending me notifications saying ‘your room has been looked at by 7 people in the last half hour, and you’d better book soon.’ Which is unlikely since I only looked at the listing an hour before, in the middle of the night. And also, Airbnb putting their 300$ properties right in my face. At the top of the page. So even though I want a more economic option, I have to scrawl through the overpriced, flock curtain and plush carpet section. Airbnb have sold their soul to poor marketing and greed. Just like a certain Trumped up fool. How sad!
And to top that, the last place I was forced into booking, last minute due to an Airbnb cancellation; was missing a pane of glass in the window. And the door wouldn’t shut. Yet after a promise of compensation, they changed their minds. Happy to rent out rooms without windows, in 2018. Do you not have the funds to protect your travellers Airbnb?
What was once a great idea, is now more focused upon making money. Sad.

This is a little different from most sites . The guests are different . They’re well travelled usually younger in heart if not age . Socially seem to be more communicative and better prepared to enjoy the experience . I have loved hosting . Having used Airbnb as a traveller and had very good experiences I feel the ethos is ‘arrive as a guest ,leave as a friend’ . I’ve tried very hard to apply that when I meet new guests . It’s been great so far and it’s brought us in that extra money that is always useful to help our own Airbnb travelling experiences too. Really pleased all round with this.

I booked a place to stay in Manchester for the night and the host cancelled last minute and was told the refund was gonna take 5 days to process, after calling customer service I was told they would credit my account £55 to pay for a new place to stay and the refund would still be processed, any other place would have turned me away without a care in the world but the level of support and care for their customers this customer has is definitely a rarity in the modern word and I would definitely recommend this company to everybody who asks

Yes. Great app but there’s more to it than an app. We are turning more to using Airbnb than staying at hotels as they offer more for less.
We are timeshare owners so appreciate the home from home feeling when on holiday/vacation. Airbnb gives us the home comforts of a timeshare but the flexibility of being able to choose from hundreds of properties at our holiday destinations. Hotels tend not to have kitchens where you can make a quick snack or grab a cold drink from the fridge, put a few clothes in the washer/dryer and if there are several family or friends spending time away together then apartments offer a common space for all and at an affordable price. Just respect the places you stay as these are people’s homes too!

THIS IS THE DODGIEST APP AND I WILL NEVER USE IT AGAIN!!!!!!
I submitted requests 3 times for call backs. The first someone answered then hung up on me and then twice I received calls from someone who was clearly in a car, speaking a foreign language. He kept talking for ages but it seemed as though he could not hear me(creepy) I then called the call centre myself (wasting my money thanks!) and the line was so bad (I tried calling other people and it was fine so this is clearly from your end). It took me FREAKING HOURS to find out it will take me 10 DAYS to get my £264 returned after a host declined my request to stay (cos I didn't have any ratings which is great since ITS MY FIRST TIME USING THE APP???). It's great to know air bnb take my large amounts of money so seriously (SARCASM)!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's also freaking fantastic is my holiday is in less than 10 days so if I don't get that money back in time IM SCREWED THANKS AIR BNB! Why the fudge do I have to pay for a REQUEST!!!! 100% full blown dodge thanks for absolutely ruining my first ever holiday abroad!
