Fast and Reliable Secure Storage
Photo Vault has proved to be quick, safe and reliable. Virtually seamless encryption, with further folder encryption once accessed, if needed. I have rated this as 5 Star, but only just as it is better than the other apps I have tried, including Stash, which is sadly no longer supported under the latest iOS. Otherwise, the pic editing functions are first class. I would like to see a more efficient upload transfer. As is, the app requires that one first transfers pics etc to the app’s ‘iTunes Folder’ prior to uploading to iTunes. You then have to transfer the pics you placed in the iTunes folder back to their original folder, although you do not have to decrypt the folder - you just move them back into the the closed folder. All well and good...but, why does the app not instead just copy them to the export folder, and then delete them once transferred? Also, pics are uploaded individually; the app does not form an ‘Export’ folder containing the pics. In iTunes, the separate images then have to be individually selected, prior to saving to your preferred folders. It would be much easier, if there was just one folder to transfer! Finally, it might be my iPhone settings, but the app encryption requires just four numerical entries for a password, and there is no fingerprint recognition, which, again may be my base settings.

This used to be a great app.
But a few updates ago they broke the web browser. It now doesn’t work at all. You can enter a URL or a search but no web page ever appears.

Photos are missing
Tried to contact the developers about the fact that I have so many photos that are not syncing (keep getting a message which says missing data files). I keep being told that the developers will be notified to assist. It’s been three months and no one has been in touch. I have now backed up photos elsewhere as this cannot be considered a truly safe app for any photos of sentimental values. I have lost so many photos though which is a shame by relying on just storing them on this app. Customer service is not the best and no one appears to know what the problem is.

Very easy to use. Very secure. Great interface. I import pictures from my camera roll and delete the ones on my camera roll. I just wish this app would hold onto the time and date when the pictures were taken. That’s the only drawback I can see. Other than that, it’s an amazing app.

This app is really good for keeping your private files private. The additional individual password feature for each file is added security and additional peace-of-mind for the security conscious. The only negative thing I've found is the limitation on the number of files you can create (free version). That said for a free version of the application it's brilliant.

Poor update
Yet another once-great app ruined by an unnecessary major update which has broken more than it improved, even if anything had needed improving. File transfer to computer via cable no longer works, transfer via wi-fi is clumsy, slow and doesn’t always work, and videos take an age to decrypt every time playback starts. 2 stars, and only not 1 because the basic app still works more or less.

It’s a really good app but once I deleted because I had to free up my storage to update my phone I downloaded it again and all my pictures and videos were gone and won’t come back I would definitely give 5 stars if someone tells me how to get deleted pictures and videos back

Great App been using for years, a few suggestions!
I think this app is great, backs up on iCloud, secure, and easy to use.
A few things I think could be added or updated.
A list view would be great, that’s way you rename videos or pictures and find what you looking for. I’ve used apps before which allow this and always found it quite useful. There apps that offer this function but I’m with the overall Performance of this app.
Also, a duplication tool. I’ve found that some times I’ve added files twice with realising and this can’t problem storage wise especially if the file or video is quite large.
Everything is Great, Pro account is the way to go too.

“Improvements”
These “improvements” have made this app sluggishly slow to open, any ‘secure’ folders are just as slow to request password/touch-id, and the “improved” icons for secure folders look like icons from 30 years ago. What happened to the good “Photo Vault” icons from the previous version?
I have sadly decided this app has been “improved” to the state that I am going to look for another faster, better looking and secure photo app and delete this one.
PS. Despite my settings on my ipad preventing apps requesting feedback, the first thing this app did after the update was ask if I liked the app. This further annoyed me.

Preferred old layout
This App is perfect. Provides a safe, passcode locked place store photos and videos. The only problem is that the recent update changed the layout, colours and font of the text in the app and now it looks terrible!!!! To the developers of this app, Please change it back!!!!!!!!!

Please add a sort feature for items in albums
i’ve recently found an issue where when i upload pictures to photo vault they’ll appear in a random order in my album. would be great to have a feature that could sort photos and videos by date taken etc as well as a fix for the random order when uploading.

It would be really useful if the App would do something about the number of confirmation windows when you delete photos copied over from Photos. I appreciate some of this is iOS but duplicating (effectively) the same messages in the App as well is just annoying.

I’ve had this ap for years and I’ve been really pleased with it. However recently it cannot download on to my new phone it gets stuck half way. I have emailed the app owners and as of day three there is no response. I’m worried I’ve lost all my photos I’ve saved with them ... frustrated

Most video formats are not supported.
I have this apps good few years and I was sure that there is no one taking care about it.
I was surprised today that there are regular updates signed as “bug fixes”.
Come on guys! Most video formats are not supported here. Please at lease state for every user to be able to see which formats are you supporting right and when most recognised formats will be added. Shame! Im using this app for years and most videos I have can’t be played because unsupported format. I was hoping that one day someone will get into this but no!

Good App, Weak Export, Poor Support
If you want an app that simply and effectively imports Camera Roll photos and encrypts them, there’s no better app. With the paid version the decoy setting and break in reports are nice features too.
However when you come to export your photos out of Photo Vault and back on to your Camera Roll, you can expect to lose date/time settings and rather than put photos back where it found them, they’re placed as if taken today, which is not great.
But don’t expect support from this developer. The built in FAQs are extremely brief and limited and if you use the Contact Us form or email them direct, expect your message to vanish into the ether, because after three messages over three weeks, I’ve heard nothing back.
For import and encryption I’d award five stars. For export back to device I’d award one star. For customer support I’d award zero stars. Overall one star only.
I’ll be seeking a refund!!

I have been using this app for ages, now all of a sudden it is telling me my password is in correct and 4 times now I have selected to send my password to my recovery email and nothing has come though! If anyone else has experienced this and managed to fix it please let me know how

No support
The app itself it doing what it was supposed to do but the support/help/assistance team is a really let down. Tried to get in touch with them for about 2 weeks now and they didn’t even bother replying to any of the two sent emails...
Now I feel like i made a bad decision buying this app.
I would rate it 5 starts for what it is doing and 1 for the support you get...
Updates: after few months of trying to get a response from any in the support team, I got no reply back. Basically, it seems that there are no customer skills or there is simply no one to answer. For this, for the lack of support and care for the paying customers, I am downgrading my star level to 1.
Still: no reply from customer service. I tried contacting them but it seems that either they simply ignore their customers or they may just have fun watching people pay for something that they put no effort into it.
This is the last product I am buying from this company ...ever!

The best app to keep photos hidden
I love this app. Well designed and functional. I have been using this app for long time and never had issues. One function I really really want is that be able to sort photos in the album by time modified, time added (usual sort option) and also one button for “Shuffle” picture while in the album view.

Well designed
This app does everything it says it will and very efficiently. It's easy to import from my iPad photos and easy to organise pictures. The only small criticism is the 4 digit initial password (or swipe method) when an alphabetical password would have been more secure. I know alphabetical passwords can be assigned to individual folders but users wouldn't need to use that method if the original sign-in password could be longer and more secure as a result.

Pattern password
It used to work just fine but after an update the gesture is “stickier” , lagging and makes you put the wrong password very often .. the worst part is that I started questioning my password at first and I have forgotten it completely.... the gesture is still sticky and bad and I haven’t been able to unlock it for over a month .. I know I could reset it but I have this app for many years started on my iPod ( so I was very young ) . Therefore I did not set up a email for password recovery.

The app won’t allow me to export my videos back into my camera roll, so now they are basically stuck in app with no way to extract. Also didn’t save many of the video that I tried to save into it, so they are now gone forever as I deleted them from my phone. No way of contacting the developer, so I’m hoping for a response to help me with getting my videos out of the app (will raise review stars if I get one).

I use this everyday to keep my files in order. Use ability is perfect, however - since upgrading to the iPhone XR - whenever I go out of the app and do other things..I reopen the app and it refreshes and i lose my place (yes I have the setting to go to the last place I was..) .Which is incredibly annoying because some of my Folders have over a thousand items and I have to screenshot what number I’m on and scroll through again to find it. Unless this bug is fixed I’m going to have to look elsewhere, Which is a huge shame because I’ve used this app for years!

My Datas gone 😢😢
I’ve had this app for a couple of years and have always found it a pleasure to use, until today!!! I’ve been saving my personal video clips on it for nearly as long as I’ve had it, so this morning I went to upload 3 more clips which was as usual a success, BUT when the last one was done I noticed that there was images of a ‘film reel’ in place of where my videos should be 😡 I’ve tried closing app and rebooting my phone, it makes no difference, you can’t imagine how devastated I am. So much so that I have been an Apple App user for nearly 10 years and this is first review I’ve ever written 😢😢😢

Have been using the app for a few years now. Had no problems. Loved how I could keep my photos safe and secret, but also liked how I could edit my photos to make them better.
The recent update removed the ability to cover up blemishes which is disappointing as I used to edit all my photos using that. Now I can’t. Please bring it back

Well I’ve been using the app for well over two years, maybe longer. 10 days ago I would have given this app 5 stars. Not anymore. I got too confident and reliant on this free app to my cost. Within the last few days I’ve just lost 50% of my pictures, stupidly I’ve not saved them to my computer so I’ve lost them forever.
Don’t save anything you hold dear because you might regret it.

THIS IS GREAT
I have set a dot password and a decoy and have hid all my photos in this vault, after importing them you have to delete them, this is a perfect app for hiding photos, it works perfectly and I love it.
Please add back the system where you can watch videos and earn credits to unlock features like the decoy password and such
(Given 3 stars only so the developers might actually look at this review, otherwise it’d be 4/5 - if that mentioned system was added back I’d rate it 5/5)

It's good but basic
Update 10.x
Having updated I opened the app to find it 'migrating' pictures which took a couple of minutes. Now found it has not migrated all, and lost dozens of photos (just a blank square where a photo used to be). Not impressed.
Old review:
I would have given it 3 stars up until the recent update, when the ability to also protect video was introduced. It gets 4 now, but it is still basic, but does what it needs to do (protect image and video files) and it does that bit well.
Improvements needed include the ability to be able to move files around within a folder to reorder them, the ability to do basic manipulation (e.g. rotate the image) and the ability to click and hold on an image and a menu of options arise, which includes the ability to send or copy to another folder and to be able to email/Bluetooth it, or even add to Dropbox or similar.

Warning! Pin lock Not secure!!??
At first I believed this app to be amazing, I was happy to give it 5🌟 it even had face ID to unlock the app using my iPhone XR. All was going great until I tested the 4 digit pin lock.
I have tried numerous combinations and what I found was if I set my pin too... For example 3333 it works fine evrytime I log in, but what I found was if I enter my pin wrong like use pin 3332 it still works to log in so I tried 3331 and that pin even works? even 3330 will allow me to log in even though they not my pin 3333 so I found any number within 3 from the last digit of my pin still logs me in? Terrible security!
They need to sort this out ASAP. If they fix this issue I will happily charge my rating to 5🌟 but for now it gets 1🌟 from me. I would advice you all test it yourselves

I have used this app for years,but whatever you do DO NOT UPDATE to the latest version, nothing work and it’s that bad that it has completely crashed my phone and had to reset it. Using on iPhone X, please sort this out ASAP very disappointed that the developers could allow this update to be released when quite clearly no testing has been done. Please release a working update ASAP.

Good but could be better
I bought the photo vault upgrade in the main app which is supposed to be the same as the pro apparently. I can’t see this as it says my version is photo vault premium, not “pro”.
There are two things that I would like to do...
1) backup my vault and then if necessary restore should I delete this app or get a new phone, etc
2) be able to change the icon to something else, maybe less obvious. Ideally the name as well but not sure this is possible.
I’d also like to know how I can tell if the upgrade worked to the pro version since this says premium. I paid for it!

The best I've used
I will gladly give this app 5 stars. Its the best I've used in this category.
The only two improvements I wish they would add is the ability to pull down on a photo to dismiss (instead of having to try get your finger up to the back button in the top left) and sorting to allow newest first (currently it only allows oldest first, which is annoying to scroll down if you have a lot of photos in an album).
These are minor inconveniences for a great app overall.

I have this app on my phone. I now have a new iPad and the app hasn’t transferred from iPhone. Re-down loaded it and there is nothing in it. I had paid to upgrade it to add more albums to be more organised. My phone has gone for repair so I hope everything is still on it when it comes back as the photos are all the originals. Will be devastated if I have lost everything ....

Always done what I’ve needed it to do.
But yet to test it when backing up my phone. Once I believed I lost everything from the app as it hadn’t backed up what was in the app, but this was also quite long ago that I may have forgotten.

Formal Complaint
I bought 6th Generation iPad. Using iTunes, I restored backed up data from 1st Generation iPad to the 6G. I know old apps from 1G won’t work on 6G. But surprisingly, if there is an updated version of the app, and once installed, those apps actually accessed the old data.
I had earlier version of Photo Vault on my 1G, and the photos had been restored into the 6G, like with all other data. But unlike the other apps, when I updated the Photo Vault, it won’t access my old data.
If other updated apps can access and open old data on my new iPad, yet Photo Vault can’t do that, then Photo Vault is in effect an amateurish app. It’s a good thing that my originals are on my PC, and the photos in Photo Vault on my 1G were copies. Just that now they are in my 6G’s memory, inaccessible by the updated version.

Better than others I’ve used, no silly noises or gimmicks. Have the free version so has adds that pop up between shots but I can handle that. Selection of photos is straightforward and easy and you’re given an option to delete from camera roll once uploaded. Very pleased

Annoying ads
The app itself is Good but too many ads if you don’t upgrade, this is what is getting annoying now days, if you have a free version you have to see all these awful ads! But thank god there is always an other one to download, Got to the point that even when I’m swiping my pics ad comes up every 2 second and is super super annoying.

This app has kept all my important stuff private as well as groups of fine art drawings in categorised heaven! Never experienced any glitches, problems, technical issues of any kind. Seems the software company have this completely under control which is a comforting thought when I have experienced so many other problems with other apps. Well done and thank you.

Not bad, it's been better
This has been a great app for myself, but it has been let down by add the iTunes folder that can't be deleted, why do I need this? I have 2other family members on my iTunes account, why would I put a photo/picture in that folder to hide it only for other family members to see it through iTunes, at least give us the option to delete the folder, sort it then my star goes back to 5stars, if not may have to look for an alternative app

Lost everything doing iCloud restore
I liked this app and I had lots of things I wanted to keep in it, but when upgrading my phone to an iPhone X, I used the new automated transfer process which does the restore from iCloud. All my other apps had their data, including another encrypted safe one, but this app lost everything. I tried to restore my iTunes backup to another device but I get an error saying it’s not supported, so it looks like I’ve lost everything. I’ve since seen on their site that this is an known issue and they recommend using iTunes to move phones, but I have lots of apps and can’t check if each one will work with such a standard process.

Brilliant photo album on iPhone
I am really very impressed with this app. It’s an easy way to organise and protect your photos on your iPhone.
Would highly recommend it to anyone and it works great on iPhone 8. The free version is excellent but I think I am going to buy the app without ads and for the extra security features. It’s a small price for such a superb app.

Good, but beware...!
The app works well but one caution if you leave pictures or videos in this app on an old phone:
Once that phone's OS is no longer supported the app won't work, so you can't open it to retrieve old photos, even though the normal iPhone photo gallery works fine.
Remember to transfer files out of this app and onto your new phone or cloud or wherever before that happens.

Reassuringly Private!
This app is so easy to use and does everything it say! It’s so reassuring knowing my ‘private’ photos stay private!! My last iPhone 6 totally died after a screen replacement and this was the 1st app I installed on my replacement iPhone, unfortunately it didn’t link to my previous account so I lost a lot of pictures and videos, I wish I could link my original account to my new one.

Photo tagging and search feature
I absolutely love the app, especially the feature that allows you to place your photos in a particular order, regardless of when you added the picture to your album... whilst doing this the other day I thought, wouldn’t it be fantastic if you could add tags to photo’s so you can search for a picture in the album by giving search criteria or name? i.e. “holiday”, “nature”, “food”, etc...
Just an idea for the developers at Legendary Software Labs LLC to ponder over to make an already great app even better!

Amazing and simple to use.
This app is absolutely fantastic. It does exactly what you wanted to do and does it in a simple and easy way. You can import and export photos easily and simply. You can also choose to have each folder password protected. It is absolutely a fantastic app and I love it. I've recommended it to many of my friends.

Very good
This app is excellent for keeping photos private. The lock screen for it switches on the instant you leave the app or switch screens 👍 You can rearrange the order of the photos manually too. The thing I would change is being able to see the last pic as a thumbnail in the album screen. I got round this by taking a picture of nothing.

No more accidents!
Need I say more. This works well on my iPhone 6s+
I don't like the way photos are moved around all my devices by the photos app
So I got this to take care of those images that are personal or sensitive.
I have the upgraded version as the basic is quite limited. It allows you to delete anything you save to from camera roll and reminds you of the other places your photos are stored as well.
I'm really happy with it as it's quite simple.

Great for privacy
Great secure photo album with a delete once imported option so you don't forget to remove the photos from your photo app. The premium is well priced and the decoy password is a great feature allowing you to keep a couple of albums behind a separate password for extra fooling of people. 5⭐️

Needs more functionality
File transfer between PC and iPad no longer works over wifi hence on my favourite app so I downloaded this one. Transferring files works great but I am very disappointed with the album view. In addition to a page of thumbnails it would be far more useful to have a page of sortable line items giving file name, size, date downloaded etc. As it stands it is just a VERY basic photo file viewer. Having downloaded and upgraded it doesn't meet my need so I doubt that I shall use it any further. Disappointed.
