Very good

The timer is annoying as it blocks off the exercises, would be better integrated into the bottom. The workouts are good, the progression can jump too quickly for those who aren’t untrained with the press-up and pull up programs. The suggestion of increasing from 10 to 35 push ups in ten workouts is ambitious at best, if you currently bench 80kg for 10 it is verging on impossible for you to increase that to even 20 reps in two weeks

Not great. Lots of potential poorly executed.

Programmes look great, clear instruction. Workouts are a bit tame and not enough to feel like a proper workout. No way to track progression or record results. No way to edit or substitute exercises.

Could be a contender but...

Very good clear instructions and progression for great exercises you can do at home or in the office with mostly just a good mat. Much better than driving to the gym. The new rehash doesn’t seem to change much and has made the already dreary aesthetic even more dull. Also no improvement in personal tracking which would be great. The addition of dubious “fat melting” chemicals for sale just lower the tone.

Gorilla workouts

Good, progressive workouts. Easy to follow, which means easy to stick with. Also easy to backtrack on if you get injured; go back a few and you can start making progress as soon as you are recovered. Good stuff!

Could be improved

I like this app but in my opinion there a a few simple things that could be done to improve it.
1. Sync competed workout across devices.
2. Suggest simple warm up.
3. A round counter that can count down the number remaining with a tap at round completion.

Save your money

Paid 99p for the app and found it comes with no workout programs at all. They have to be bought with in app purchase. I bought one for a further 99p and had a look at it. It gives you a text list of the exercises to complete and a button at the bottom that says workout complete to press when you are done. You can click on each exercise to view a demo of it. That's it. You could do this yourself by watching YouTube videos and making a list of exercises. It is no better than looking at a free bodyweight exercise website. Very poor app designed only to take your cash. I feel ripped off.

Developer has responded and there is a section within the app that provides a workout program. I will try this out and amend my review shortly. Thanks to developer for responding promptly.

Gorilla Workout

Really easy way to build a quick workout into a daily routine. The workouts are not easy though! Really feel like I'm pushing myself, but it's still achievable.

Just started

I have just started the workout program. So far app has been very easy and straightforward to use. Only negative I have right now is that Internet access is required to watch the instruction videos. There should be an option to download these for offline use when out and about.

Good basic app

Good app, it's a shame you have to pay for it and then pay more inside the app. But it's good for quick, simple, at home workouts.

Old but could be better

Really think the app should offer a 6-8-12-16 week programme that has an end goal in mind. Simple to use but too early to say if it's better than Freeletics - also Freeletics is free where as this is paid up front

Simple and enjoyable

This app is simple to use and what you get for free is more than enough to increase your fitness levels and improve your overall fitness and well being. After that to go further and to challenge yourself more the in app purchases are affordable and useful, like work your way to 25 pull ups, 100 press ups etc. For free it's hard to find a better app for basic strength and cardio.

Quite enjoyable

I started working out at level 2, and it's been a lot of fun, so far.
The videos are clear, and the workouts are an achievable challenge.
The only negative is that there is no warm-up routine, to help you loosen up and get your heart going.

Good to get started

I've used this before and found level 1 really useful. I found level 2 gets a bit "blokey" for me (a middle aged woman looking to lose weight). It focuses very much on upper body strength, but it's still the best I've found for those with not much time.

Too early to tell - lacks core info

The app works fine and is pretty easy to navigate, but is fairly basic and could do with a bit more in terms of information (especially for people who aren't pros at fitness). For example, some info about warming up/down would be good. Also perhaps a bit about nutrition (I guess that's important particularly if you want to build muscle). Also, there's no indication of how much each fitness pack costs. I'm not going to click on a pack unless I know what it will cost me.

Body weight exercises - back to basics

Great Gorilla App

Love this app, the way it builds up number of reps to improve strength and breaks down sets so you can use each stage as a mini-circuit. Also love mystery of not knowing what's next until you actually go into next workout. Each morning I play a game of 'stick or twist' with myself. Muscles are feeling it and I can see I'm getting stronger by the day. Great value.
