What did I buy it for?
In July 2017 I paid £18.99 for this app. I haven’t been a big user of it, only on occasion and having just got a new phone with niftier cameras thought I would put this old purchase back on there and see what’s what, and guess what everything I look at, or setting that might be useful wants a subscription. We really don’t own anything we pay for anymore it appears.

Superb app. Best Video app out there
A few years ago when I was on an iPhone 6 I was not too impressed. Now Filmic Pro 7 is easily the best. I have been trying the Blackmagic app recently with my IPhone 14 Pro, which is very good, but has fewer features and does not integrate with the osmo mobile 6. unlike Filmic Pro. Although the BM app is free I shall be staying with Filmic

Poor show
I enjoyed filmic pro until they changed to as subscription model (overpriced). Now that the original team has been paid off, I expect this will be idle for a while with rare updates and new features. I guess time will tell but for me, because of the subscription nonsense, I’ve started using Blackmagic camera which is better than Filmic in every way.

To get pretty much every feature you want in a pro filmmaking camera app, you have to pay like £6 a month. I’d rather have to pay like £10 for the app and so you get all the features unlocked with it, like they used to.

Subscription Model for Customers Who Already Paid
I purchased this app back when there was no free version available. Now it’s a free to download subscription based app. But despite being a legacy user who’s already paid for the app upfront, I’m now expected to pay a subscription fee to access features I ALREADY PAID FOR. Who decided this was a good way to treat their legacy users? I want my money back. Frankly disgraceful that this is allowed. Exploitative and greedy company.

I’ve had to update my review as this is now out of date, and is exclusively related to the (now) legacy app. Filmic has evolved since this review, and here’s my update:
The fastest way to send your app from 5 stars to 1 star is to do exactly what the new owners of filmic have done. Dismiss loyal, paying customers of an app community by forcing a subscription model onto them, with no other option. In my opinion you have destroyed what was an AMAZING app and community by focusing on profit. I for one will never pay for V.7 and will continue to use the legacy app until it dies, at which point, my interest in your company or any app you produce will also die.

I’d just like to say you guys get a pretty bad rap for some pretty petty reasons from people who clearly have no idea the hardware limitations of the devices they use. Filmic has been an extremely groundbreaking app in terms of features, it consistently follows the hardware capabilities of the devices it’s run on and the fact you can have log3 at 10bit is just phenomenal on a mobile device! If you have read any bad reviews from annoyed, uneducated individuals I urge you to ignore them, and realise the value in this app! The cost is just pennies in comparison to the features available in this app and what you can achieve with it. If you want to moan that you can’t precisely dial in ‘200 iso’ to match your dslr or that you have to pay an extra £1.69 for the DoubleTake app…. Then PLEASE don’t buy the app and give it a 1 star and a pointless, uneducated review…… just don’t buy the app! But, if you accept that hardware capabilities limit app progression, and understand the true value of what this app has to offer on your mobile device, then get it!!! Thanks Filmic for constantly delivering an excellent app!

Disgusting behaviour.
When you buy an app you expect it to perform as promised . They have added a few new buttons which you can’t avoid on the screen and charge you a weekly price for the privilege. When you accidentally hit a button it takes you to a screen that you can exit from so you have to close down the app and start it again.
Why not have a new version for people to pay your extortionate fee? Instead of shafting all your original customers.
Apple have got to stop this disgraceful behaviour.

Sneaky App Devs, you can download your full version in settings
Ditch v7 if you already purchased outright. They’ve sneakily updated the app when in reality it’s a new App with a paywall and no new features worth having. Shameful behaviour. Removing features that people paid for as a perpetual purchase then duping them by removing the features that they legally own with their software purchase. Could be legal ramifications there. The devs sneakily hide your v6 full bodied un-handicapped app download in the information section. Do not trust these devs. Times are tough financially but you don’t go screwing people over like this, make some good updates and some people will subscribe others will just use the product they paid for. You have no legal right to lock us out of software purchases we made we own it.

I had to download câmera beast as emergency, did the basics and after a while I figured there was a ‘legacy’ version to entertain the poor.

This was an amazing app in its day and attracted lots of occasional users even though it was a paid app with lots of paid add-on features. Sadly for occasional use a subscription makes no sense. While there is a legacy version it’s very unclear how long that will be supported, especially with new phones coming out in a few months.

Started off well in 2022 ,all was working great,enabling me to film at 60fps and now with the latest update that frame rate option has been updated with a subscription but previous buyer’s are entitled to a free legacy update to allow users to use what they paid for before the latest version .wasn’t made very clear but now I have downloaded the legacy update all the options are working as before.

What a shame to see the leading camera app on iPhones be ruined by new owners who just see it as a money grab. They’ve made it complex for owners of the app to continue using it and pretty much sealed its fate to the trash can as it won’t be updated any more. Many years ago, I bought Filmmic Pro on a whim and then found the amazing benefits of what is a tool to transform my iPhone into a semi professional camera.
Filmic pro, offers flexibility, as I use it for ad hoc filing and photography, as by tapping and holding the circle and Square boxes, you turn what is a automatic mode into a focus pulling tool, that on my iPhone 5C has allowed me, with occasionally a bit of improvised creativity, in making a improvised camera obscurer.
To recreate the professionally produced images, that Apple couldn't create on a iPhone, on the very device it’s featured on.
If your looking for a plussed home video camera, this might be worth the expense.
I know for me, it was priced right for my needs.
If you want a good quality camera for youtube videos, semi pro work, one that you can set the focus where you want it to be. Get this app and its worth it.

Everything is cool app might be great the weekly payments are absurd 🤷🏼♂️ I dont know why all camera apps / video apps want’s monthly or weekly payments and if there is one time purchase the price of them is like pre-order of the upcoming games for PS5 💀 I wanted to use it on iPhone 13 Pro and see how does it record but there is no way I’m gonna pay for it 🤷🏼♂️ I stick to my normal cameras 👍🏼

Legacy user…satisfied, I think, for now!
So as a longtime paid user of Filmic Pro, the option of using the Legacy version was apparently open to me. As an occasional user though, I will never subscribe to this app… seems a crazy decision by the developers. None the less for now, the Legacy version does seem to work for me at the moment.
1. Make sure that your main Filmic Pro app is up to date. ( mine wasn’t and it didn’t work until updated)
2. In addition I also downloaded the Legacy app … but not really sure it is needed… as it just seems to link back to the main app anyway!
3. In the main app (currently v7) there is an option at the top to click on ’already purchased, and from there you can set up the Legacy version. I had no extras added to carry over but there seems to be some option to do that there.
4. Accessing files: I always had the app set to store files in my iphones filmroll anyway and that works fine for me
They say that this legacy version will continue to get bug fixes but no further updates.
So this seems ok..ish for now but lets see. Hopefully we will not get locked out in the future and I will keep an eye out for similar apps to switch to if that happens.
This always has been an excellent app please don’t ruin it through this daft subscription decision.

My purchase stolen & replaced with a subscription app
I liked using Filmic Pro. I thought it was a good purchase. That was until yesterday…
I was happily using Filmic Pro yesterday morning & by the afternoon I could no longer use it. The app (which I purchased) informed me that I could no longer use it unless I payed a subscription fee. An app I owned on my phone & have used happily for years has now been stolen from me & replaced without my consent.
There is an option to download another free version (which they refer to as Version 6) but this is a pale imitation of the app I owned & the video quality & options are lacking to such a degree that it’s junk.
I understand companies will make more money on subscriptions, but stealing an app away from payed customers is not how you do it. They should have let customers keep their purchase & make another subscription based app.
I’ll make sure to never have anything to do with this company again.

REALLY DISAPPOINTED
So I’m not really one to leave reviews unless I really enjoy a product and think it’s worth leaving a review, and the other times are like this one.. I used filmic pro for a very long time, I bought it back when it was £5 or £15 it was so long ago I can’t even remember, and I’m also not 1 to usually pay for apps on my iPhone or iPad.. with that being said, I bought it and enjoyed it.. I haven’t used the app in a couple months though, and today when I opened it for the first time I couldn’t use it, because they are shoving a subscription down my throat.. £40 a year or £3 per week.. and this is a discounted price for a “loyal” customer.. outrageous in my opinion, and they have lost this “loyal” customer because I paid for something, and now they want more money from me.. without people like me who bought the app in the first place, this app wouldn’t be where it is right now.. I bought Filmic Pro about 12 months ago to help with a project I was working on at the time. I was impressed by its functionality and controls. The app at that time would have got five stars.
Now here’s version 7. Looks good but I can’t use it as its now subscription based. As an infrequent user that simply means that I won’t be using it or recommending it to anyone.
I understand that the developers have got to make money to continue but you’ve just cut of the hand that feeds you. Whilst I’m a sporadic user, there are professionals out there that’ll think “Hey I’ve just paid for this and now you want me to pay again otherwise I can’t use what I paid for? Stuff that I’ll look elsewhere.”
Why didn’t you just release this as a whole new paid for app rather than an update? I wonder…..
I’ll just have to look at other software and bin Filmic. I certainly won’t be recommending it to anyone, they appear to have gone from innovators to money grabbers, such a shame.

Beware - can lead to iPhone factory resets
This is a fairly common problem with third party camera apps apparently, but often when you delete your video files off Filmic Pro they vanish from your phone but disappear into your iPhone’s System Storage cache instead, meaning you CANNOT delete them but take the data loss (I had a systems storage folder of 119gb) The only known solution is to factory reset your iPhone. A quick internet search will tell you that this is a major problem and nobody is solving it.

Why a Subscription Model for customers who have already paid?
Bought the app, paid what was asked at the time only to now find, as many others have mentioned that it’s been changed to a subscription model. I wasn’t warned about this, I only found out when I opened the app to use while out. I was presented by a message telling me I had to subscribe to get my video. It did point out I could use the legacy app, which you have to download as a separate app, but that was no use to me in the remote area I was in so I effectively couldn’t use it. I have also noted that I have to have a connection for the app to work. Thats no good to me. Filming in the outdoors in remote places, I am often without a decent connection. I have now deleted Filmic Pro and won’t be bothering with it again which is a shame as it was a good app. I would advise anyone looking to buy to look elsewhere. Running Filmic Pro has just become very expensive and although its good, there are other good options which cost far less.

Disappointed
Up until this latest release I had enjoyed using Filmic Pro however this new subscription version is a disappointment. The performance of the app is up to the usual top standard however having to pay a subscription for something I may use a couple of dozen times a year is frustrating and the fact that when using the new version it doesn’t make clear that you have to pay to get your footage out of the app. I have just shot some footage of a not inconsiderable Charity donation handover to find out that I can’t use the footage as it’s stuck in the app. I now realise that there is a V6 Legacy Version but quite frankly The communication from Filmic is not matched by the quality of its app. Seems to be more important to sign up subscriptions than inform current users of important changes to how the app will be operated. V Disappointed.

Oh God!!!
As a beginner I've been a very happy Pro v6 user. Downloaded v7 and followed the instructions to revert to Legacy version. Been trying for 5 hours now and only get 'cannot connect' or 'link not found'. Not only that but the support page Contact Support doesn't work. Just freezes you press Submit. What an absolute disaster.
[Edit: After 12 hrs, I manually downloaded Filmic Legacy from the app store. I then followed its instructions but NOTHING happened. I repeated these instructions 5 times and eventually it enabled Legacy in full. Relieved as I loved V6.
But, I've since discovered the Filmic Terms and Conditions which are absolutely outrageous (yes I never read them before). While my content would never be good enough for Filmic to use, I'm giving it up and moving to Beastcam instead!]

Bait and Switch :(
Another app lost to corporate greed. £50 a year with an insulting first year discount. I had to download this, activate and then cancel my subscription just to download the app I had already paid for and installed on my phone. Awful business model and feel like we’re having our noses rubbed in our own mess… Thanks Filmic Pro you had been wonderful while it lasted.
For £50 a year you could buy a professional second hand camera with all these features on a three year cost… it don’t make sense.
Next maybe consider just adding features on top of what we already paid for… RIP!

If you had the originally app and have updated to find you’ve lost the right to export video files just revert back to what they now call Filmic Legacy to retain exporting. I updated to find the new version required payment, I was frustrated and wrote a bad review but was told how to revert back.

Money grabbing
Had filmic pro for years, bought all the extras, all the lut packs, everything! Now they’ve switched it to a subscription model, with no care for those of us who have been avid users from the beginning! If
You don’t upgrade, you can’t use all features, you can’t save your videos to your phone, you’re essentially just locked out of the app. This is a total sham and a disgraceful way to treat customers who have purchased a product that isn’t cheap as far as apps go! I won’t be using it anymore and I know I speak for many many others when I say that!

Bought this app many years ago but…
Paid whatever it was for the app years ago and have been enjoying using it. Now it seems that it doesn’t matter that I’ve paid for it, if I want to save or export anything shot in the app I have to pay again. Seems they’ve moved to a subscription model without telling their users and now, despite having bought the app, if you want to film anything and edit it you have to pay again. I don’t have the money to pay for this, I don’t earn from the films I make. I kind of want my money back for the initial purchase too now that the app is pretty much useless for me. Hard not to feel that this is a rip off. There is a ‘legacy’ mode hidden in the settings, if you dig, which takes you to a download of the old version provided you paid to download the old app before the end of August 2022. But this version will not be updated and so is basically obsolete.

Sad to see a good app go this way & in this manner…
I rarely write reviews for apps, but as a long time user of this one, I felt the need.
Not only did the new parent company (Bending Spoons) take over Filmic Pro, but they moved the app over to the much hated subscription model.
Not only that, but they hiked the price to £2 per week or £42 per year and that’s a “goodwill gesture” for existing v6 owners, new users pay even more!
Not only that, but instead of making this “new” v7 Filmic Pro a new standalone app, they called it an “upgrade” and forced all existing v6 owners to “upgrade” to v7 of the existing app, since that is the only way to get “Filmic Legacy” (v6), which will hopefully get some updates, since the current v6 not longer exists to be updated in its current form. Although Filmic Legacy is available in the App Store, it cannot be used without being activated by v7, and that’s only for existing Filmic Pro v6 users…
All in all the whole process has soured the community of dedicated Filmic Pro users, many of whom has found alternatives like Protake, CinemaP3 or MoviePro.
Hopefully this will be a lesson for app companies of how NOT to progress their app in future!

Ah man! I am truly sick and tired of this subscription malarkey. With the cost of living and rampant inflation around the world, massive hikes in fuel bills it is horrible that Filmic should now resort to this kind of thing. Plus, I now look at what my non-subscription Filmic is like and I can no longer find some of the functions I’d used in the past like programmable focus and zoom. Have they disappeared into the subscribe-only model? I won’t be buying into it, that’s for sure. This app is not indispensable and there are others available. It is a shame and I am massively disappointed in the developers for going this way, like so many others.

Limited by itself
Filmic Pro might be the greatest app ever to hit the planet but the fact that it requires you to be online before you use it renders it useless in many situations. But this fact alone raises some huge suspicions. One, that every picture and film that you take is being sent back to them for data gathering. (Tracking you, basically). I tried to use it in remote areas abroad (where there was, understandably, no signal and, because it could not ‘log on’ it did not even get beyond the start up screen. What is this all about Filmic? Without internet it’s a useless app with nothing but an icon, a swirly wheel and frustration. Remove the login!!!

Subscribtion model, i will look for another app
Having paid for all the extras and using the app for a few months I would have given five stars however after paying for the app then a few months later being told they are us a newer version coming out BUT will be a subscription based model I guess I will go elsewhere!
Filmic marketing philosophy, get even more money from the mugs (people like us)! Let them pay for a lifetime license (and all the goodies) then a few months later say how great we are, move over to subscription system and earn even more money!

I don’t leave many reviews but this takes the biscuit. Like many have said already, we have not only paid for the app itself but most of us have paid for the many extras such as the “Cinematographer’s Pack” with the premise we now have paid the rights to use this app as a lifetime user but then we find they are now moving to a subscription model which charges its users by the week! I have only just got all of my mobile filmmaking equipment together to begin making short films/documentaries to aid my acting career. It’s early days so I’m not making any money out of these. Now that you have switched to this extortionate subscription model I’m checking out and going else where. The customers that had already paid for the app and the extras should not be charged again.

I didn’t pay a one off price to be moved on to a subscription model. I’ve enjoyed using the app. But as others have stated we are not interested in paying again for the app. Not only in a subscription model but one that appears to massively overpriced. This is no way to treat the customers who have invested time and money in the application. In my case I have already paid for another app and will be using that one in the future. Whoever is managing filmic should be communicating with existing fully paid owners of the app and making it clear that they can continue using the app without being moved onto a subscription model. Continuing updates would be appreciated too. To sorry a future prospect for me to continue. SAD.

Really Good Videography App
Everything is absolutely excellent, just one thing. You have stopped updating hardware compatibility ignoring the most sold gimbals on the market. There is zero support for Zhiyun Q3 gimbal like it has no presence and no significance on today’s market. Would you be so kind and keep adding compatibility support for other hardware to be fully usable with Filmic Pro as well, please? 🙏🏻

£13 turned into £47 for iPad and will cost more when installing on iPhone leaving bad taste in mouth
I like the app and functionality and the documentation and video tutorials are precise EXCEPT when warning of how many menu items you would expect to work will throw up an in-app purchase screen.
Even worse, I bought this for my iPad Pro so I could learn the app ready for installation and usage on my new iPhone 13 Max Pro arriving in 2 weeks time. Now I discover all those in-app purchases will have to be paid for again on the second device and that what I thought was a £13 purchase will now be closer to £80. That’s extortionate by any standards. I would never have downloaded the app if I’d know that upfront.
The web site doesn’t only avoid warning you of all the chargeable extras but even claims the Dual Capture feature bis free. It isn’t. When you select it as the camera option to use it tells you you have to pay £1.69. If that isn’t deliberate false advertising I don’t know what is.

Good app overall, but setting aren’t clear
Overall the app is really good, still learning and getting used to it. The only bug bear that I have is the colour scheme in the settings being mostly grey/white which isn’t immediately clear and can cause errors if you're not careful. After filming my son’s one month ceremony in Vietnam i later found all my footage was filmed in timelapse which meant that i lost everything, all because under the frame-rate setting I hadn’t noticed timelapse was selected instead of standard :(. Could you please update this along with other settings to be more visually clear to the end user. Was gutted when I lost all that footage.

A good app with some decent options, but…
Some functionality is hidden behind the paywall. The promised dual camera recording demoed at apple keynote over 2 years ago still haven’t arrived. They’ve released the double take (which hasn’t been updated in a long time), yet you can’t have this functionality in a single app.
Controls are fine, audio live listen is also useful.
Yet I am still annoyed that I’ve purchased this app hoping for a complete dual cam solution yet they still haven’t delivered on their promise.

shutter speed stops at 1/50 on my iPhone 12 Pro Max
I bought the app yesterday to use on my iPhone pro max and have watched several videos to learn more. Unfortunately my shutter speed stops at 1/50 but all videos I have watched indicate that shutter speed could go below 1/50. Also highest ISO is under 1500 but have a review with iPhone 12 Pro Max shows a maximum ISO of more than 3000. I am not happy cos I don’t know whether it is the app or my phon

It’s fiddly but good
This is a solid camera app if you want and need full control of your iPhone camera system. I used this to capture a festival at the weekend and was quite happy with the results.
My only bugbear is the interface. It’s very fiddly. Things like the settings menu or the playback window should open full screen, rather than windowed on what is already a small screen. Actually.. one more thing. It also loses iso/shutter settings when switching between lenses and also when switching back again. It would be helpful if these stayed.
All in all, best app for camera control that I’ve seen. Looking forward to trying out the LOG profiles.

don't get tricked into ”there are better alternatives” or ”filmic is not stable” or ”it heats phone up and eats up battery unlike that other program”.
this is the best camera program for iphone that has controls for every meaningful parameter within its neat uncluttered and easy to navigate UI. there is nothing like it from competition.
you can also use another iphone as a remote control / monitor for it. it's unbelievable!

And wireless clean video output too
I’ve had Filmic Pro for a good few years but haven’t used the iPhone for video much recently. Today I redownloaded it again the reason... it provides clean (no overlays) wirelessly using Airplay to an Apple TV. HDMI from Apple into an ATEM Mini and voila, a wireless camera using an iPhone (12 Pro so it can use any of the 4 lenses too). That’s just outstanding. Oh, and it’s still a very good video app too. The whole setup cost me nothing as I had all the bits already but I’d buy Filmic Pro just for that one feature.

Great and also frustrating
Overall I really like this app. It could be 5 stars but there are a few little annoying things and 1 big annoying thing that drive me nuts. That big thing is setting the exposure. The general idea of the interface is nice unless you want to dial in a specific value because it’s not precise enough. If I want ISO 200 to match my main DSLR settings, it’s not hard to get 198 or 203 but getting 200 is nearly impossible. What makes it more annoying is that it would be so easy to avoid. Option 1: make the dial less sensitive Option 2: have the dial snap to the main ISO values that are on every other camera (200, 400, 600 etc) Option 3: tap and hold on the dial or the numbers and have a box pop up where I can type in the value I want.
As for the little annoying thing, one happened when I did finally manage to get the dial to ISO200 so tried to save it as a preset to avoid the frustration next time. Apparently exposure doesn’t save as a preset. If you offer the option of saving setting, save ALL the setting, not just the ones you decide are relevant.
Like I said, I like the app, it could be great but it seems to lack some common sense which result in making it frustrating to use.

What an amazing app, but wondering is it possible to zoom and pull focus
I love this camera app, it’s amazing. I was just wondering would it be possible on the next update to be able to control both the focus and zoom independently? Maybe it’s not something even a dedicated camera can do, I’ve actually never owned a dedicated camera so I have no idea. What I’d like is to be able to zoom into something and also be able to focus into whatever I’m zooming into.

Ruined a video shoot
Dissapinted. Bought filmic pro and remote together and used once to test and worked. Did a shoot today and due to camera position had to rely upon remote to control main canes phone. Unfortunately even though it says recording and lights up red it doesn’t actually record and so a whole day and load of money down the drain. I’ve since tested and the same thing happens. Once to sync second phone as remote it says recording but the counter doesn’t go up and hence no video files. Does not work.

Best camera app for any mobile
Used filmic pro for a few years now, this is an app that is worth taking a bit of time to get used to using. Captures video perfectly, especially if you are going to be doing a bit of work post production, works well with external mics but I recommend taking time with them to make sure settings are right. This is a professional app, if you want a high end camera in your pocket that will take a £50 rode mic to plug in and produce serious quality that you would otherwise have to spend thousands on a camera for, then this is the app to buy. This app is extremely cheap for what you get.

Disappointed
Highly disappointed with this app. Everyone said it was THE video app for iPhone, I was comparing it to a £2.99 app (which gives you a 30 day trial) called ProMovie. Decided to fork out the £20 for this and the remote. The quality is significantly worse than on ProMovie, especially in indoor/low light, I have done multiple comparisons and the video taken with Filmic pro is always much more grainy than the one taken on ProMovie. The controls on ProMovie are also much easier to navigate and adjust.
After a couple of comparisons FilmicPro has now crashed on my iPhone 11 and force closing the app will not fix it. Very disappointed especially for the price tag, will be trying to get a refund unfortunately.

Looks great but I can’t get it to work with my Smooth 4 gimbal
I bought this as I was buying my gimbal at the same time plenty of people seem to have them working together. However the Filmic hardware menu never finds the Smooth 4. It’s a shame you don’t have a limited function trial version as I feel like I have wasted my money. Filmic does have epic features however so I concur with the positive comments generally. I just hope Zhiyun or Filmic do an update to fix it for me and others who seem to be having issues with connection.

Terrible app with crashes and worse performance than native app
The app crashes every single time when selecting zoom for the camera and trying to lock the exposure. This is unacceptable in a paid for app.
The most annoying part is that previously before the log and cinema paid extra was added the stock app performed the same. However since then without this paid extra the app is useless and blows out highlights compared with the native one and is very noisy in low light.
I hate this app with a passion now that they’re failing to bring updates to the camera that requires no effort on their part and locking out apples native processing in favour of a paywall for fundamental camera improvements. Terrible practice that shouldn’t be allowed on the App Store and apple should be blocking this company imo to prevent damage to image quite literally.

Vast improvement to native camera app
I have recently started “hobbying” with video recording and quickly realised the limitations with the native camera app on iPhone (X) and so was deciding on a new camera, but came across some reviews for this app on iPhone and thought I would give it a go. As I say am am a beginner but the increase in quality of video when using this app is clearly evident immediately.
This app gives you much more customisable options over how you film including frame rates, quality, time lapse intervals, iso, shutter speed, white balance and much more. There is a built in colour optimisation if you need it on the go, however you can set your colour grading options to flat so that your colours can be brought out in post production if you use external software.
All in all I would highly recommend this app for anyone who wants to give their videos a pro touch when filming with a smartphone. If you are worried about the price tag, don’t be. I feel the value you get is evident in the picture quality and will have your phone punching above its weight class as far as videos go, how much would you spend on a new camera?

Good app for film making
Good app with a premium price, but disappointed that although advertised as pro film app for pro filming, features like log colour profiles are locked down and require further in-app purchases. Log colour profile at-least should part of the initial purchase.
I use it mainly for anamorphic footage and the app is perfect for that. I also use the remote control app for vlogging.
Also exposure and focus controls are great and intuitive.

Excellent app just needs fixed shutter speed with auto iso
Really enjoying all the pro features and use my iPhone for cinematography along with a variable ND filter. Only feature missing for me is being able to lock the shuttler speed (1/48 for 24 FPS) while leaving auto ISO. Adjusting the ND would then allow me to auto select an optimal ISO. Not a show stopper without it but a faster work flow with it. Is this feature possible or a limitation of the internal iPhone api ?

This App takes the pi**
Got an Osmo Mobile and heard this was THE program to get a flat profile so coughed up the extortionate £15 to get it. But oh wait, it’s another £14 for the flat profile, silly me! Who would've thought that a £15 app would not have that. I eventually give in and buy the ‘cinematographer’s pack’ as the flat profile is the whole reason I got it in the first place. But wait there’s more, why would they allow this flat profile be used in 60 fps? I mean that would be asking way too much; and probably quite literally in the future. Also, the Zoom function isn't available on the Osmo and they have not included a way of making it work. It only selects manual or focus modes. If you have an Osmo, stick to the DJI Go or the inbuilt camera, mute the colours then add a LUT. Sure you get the manual control but there are other apps out there that can do that and better (yeah you still need to tap away at the screen). The minimal dynamic range isn’t worth the cosmic rip off.

Great app as long as you don’t change platform
Loved this app and well worth the 15 pound price I paid.
A word of warning tho I’m changing from iPhone to the new huawei for the camera etc and you cannot move the account over meaning you have to re pay for the app. I’m very disappointed in this as this is a premium app that isn’t cheap and feel that many people change phones and may not realise you can’t move the app to a new platform. Surely there’s a way you could be sent a one time link to download on a different operating system. So much for customer care

Distressing Changes to resolution settings
I got it to film in UK 25fps rather than Apple’s Hinson’s choice of 30, and it does this with ease. It is a great app and turns iPhone into amazing video camera, but...
after updates or apparently at random, it reverts to its default resolution of 1080p, ie HD. Since I otherwise film in 4K and this often occurs without me noticing, it leaves me with special moments captured in distressingly lower resolution.
PS: Support have suggested this is caused by using the lower resolution selfie camera which resets resolution to 1080, where it then sticks - a nasty tripwire and one we should be warned about.

Astonishing!
If anyone ever wanted an app for mojo or filmmaking in general then this is the only app anyone would ever need. With its latest updates from early January 2019 this extraordinary software can turn your smartphone into and almost on a par with any DSLR on the market today particularly if you have the latest smartphone. Filmic Pro is only impeded by one’s imagination as the tools available for creators are not only essential and invaluable but they far exceed any other similar software by a very long way in usable and quality. This app is sublime, superior and astonishing its capabilities and is the gold standard regarding apps of this nature, and I can’t recommend it enough to any budding Steven Spielbergs out there be Filmic Pro used for simple vlogging, internet series, documentary creators or even full blown filmmakers. What’s keeping you? 10/10!

Few improvements would make it perfect
I think the app is really great and I am also enjoying the optional flat profile.
I would love to see few improvements which would make this app super perfect:
1. Phone will get really hot during recording. I am using iPhone 7plus.
2. Would be really great to get better audio quality from Bluetooth headphones. 16kHz is really really bad.
3. Subject tracking when using DJI osmo mobile. If it would work the same as their app that would be great.

Zhiyun Smooth 4 Integration
Great to see Filmic Pro has finally added support for the Zhiyun Smooth 4. However, I think it needs some work. Unless it’s because I’m using an iPhone SE, I’ve found the zoom feature to be quite ‘jerky’ using the wheel and the speed at which it zooms remains constant regardless of how quick or slow I turn the wheel. Using the Zhiyun Play app gives me a very smooth zoom and the rate at which it zooms is variable depending on my input.

Love it, but...
Love it... Footage is wonderful.
However, needs a few additions that I hope will be implemented to receive 5 stars. A still button should be added so that log mode photos can be taken and then later graded. The zoom rocker on my Osmo Mobile 2 should be able to function as a proper zoom in Filmic taking advantage of the iPhone X dual lenses so that the parallax effect and others can be achieved. Wishing the developers continued success.
PS. Also adding a level option that would show the gimbal is perfectly leveled is also a plus. Looking forward to the photo shutter button.

Good, good, one little thing though...
Ok it’s safe to say that Filmic Pro is the go-to app for mobile phone videography, it’s parameters for manual control and ability to shoot flat and log profiles are straight up game changing. I’ve recommended this app to SO many people and have used it sensibly within a part of my workflow between cinema camera, to dslr, to mobile device. Mix this with Moment lens’ and accessories and you’re good to go.
It’s expected that an app like this might be a bit of a battery drainer that’s a given and we all have portable power banks anyway so it’s not a problem. My bit of an issue is the overheating of your phone after not even a great deal of use with this app, be it an iPhone 7, iPhone 8 Plus, or iPhone X l use all of these with FP and they all get to melting point so quickly that we now bring a plastic ice pack with us when we use them due to the phones all shutting down with ‘Phone temperature too high’ after filming log 4K for only a few minutes. That’s really bad for the phones.
Is this something that is being looked into for future updates? Also just as a heads up for people who want to use the more advanced setting for any length of time your phone will die in minutes so please do plan accordingly.
Other than that.....this app is perfect 👌

Best film app
I’m completely baffled by the negative tone of many of these reviews. I tried three other “pro” video apps before shelling out 15 quid for this (plus another fiver for the remote, which works generally pretty well) and none are as feature-heavy or stable or with such a simple UI as this. I’ve yet to download the log bolt-on, but will once I’m filming for broadcast. Is it worth 15 quid? Well in my view - yes. There’s a huge amount of expertise contained here and it seems a small price to pay for turning your phone into a viable film camera. Exciting times.

My go-to for filming anything on my phone
I just finished a new short film using FiLMiC Pro on my iPhone 8+ and it did the trick perfectly. It’s true that it can run through your phone battery fairly fast but you can combat that with portable chargers etc. and really any issues that do arise from using it can be countered with simple enough methods.. pretty much like any other camera out there. Don’t expect something perfect but it is a VERY good app for more professional looking video and I have used it countless times on previous projects also. If it weren’t for FiLMiC Pro I wouldn’t consider doing any serious shooting on my phone.
