I closed it down they are ridiculous with taking down profile pictures it's a gay dating site for gay people over 18. There was no nudity or bulge but for took down they are so bad town it and many fake profiles they seem more interested in taking down genuine pictures then dealing with fake profiles.

I’ve managed to forgive all the spam, fake profiles, constant advert pop ups. But now it seems you have to pay to see any messages at all. So no longer any point in having the app.
I don’t think Hornet will be around much longer - what a shame for an app that once used to seem like a responsible alternative to Grindr….

You keep updating the app saying that you now have verified profiles. However, what you never mentioned is that you want us to pay for this privilege. Every other application, you can verify yourself for free. What has happened to Hornet? You have got rid of all your moderators, and now the newsfeed is a constant stream of escorts, people selling absolutely everything, nude photographs etc. You are making it worse for the User not better.

I’m afraid the app used to be responsible and actually quite good. Like so many in this genre they become utterly ineffectual at weeding out persistent fake profilers mining personal details. The only saving grace being these fraudsters are so brainless, repetitive and impatient with their ‘patter’ they give themselves away very quickly. If not the multiple use of photos of the same person active in several different profiles in the same area all at once. All this should be simple to detect, whether a ‘bot’ or a poorly paid human, the fact that it isn’t now speaks volumes Hornet. Why anyone would pay for these apps is beyond my comprehension.

Full of fakes and constant crashes
As many people mentioned before, plenty of fake profiles trying to get your personal info/pics. The only way to get rid of them is to block as reporting does nothing. The performance is separate but also jarring issue: at the moment whenever I open the app it almost freezes my phone (which works great with any other apps). It takes 10-20 seconds of quitting the app to restore phones performance. Genuinely curious what do they “improve” with their updates as it seems it just gets worse and worse

Constant fake catfishing scammer profiles
What used to be quite a good app, now seems to be mainly populated by fake catfishing scammer accounts. Several times a day there’s some unsolicited messages from new profiles based thousands of miles away, requesting private pictures and WhatsApp or personal contact details. Despite reporting them to admin, they still seem to be active several weeks later, and there’s no facility to attach the messages they send when they are reported. Also, accounts that are quite clearly using fake photos stolen from either famous people, easily googled and identified which have been reported, (and I even tell admin who they’ve nicked the photos off!) STILL remain active...if you’re going to use this app, be warned that most of the messages you’ll receive will probably be from a fake account, and even if you report the account, admin seem unable, or unwilling to actually do anything about it...very disappointing...

They have an article writer promoting a person who is racist and a support team that try to silence you from complaining about the writer's article. Over the last year it has been evident that the owners of this app are only interested in milking it financially for all that it is worth. Crap about serving the gay community is, in reality, nothing more than about lining the pockets of the few who own Hornet. Not every gay man is out and/ or able to live freely in their country -an issue that is regularly pushed as a noble cause by the Hornet Team - and so many users are confronted my ever reducing free profile numbers to view, endless adverts promoting crypto currency or other gambling sites (promoting gambling to guys suffering with identity and self esteem is not what I would call a good idea), which just creates an appallingly bad and potentially dangerous user experience for some.
There is very little point in wasting my time writing this as no one will ever read this. Sort it out or I and others will go elsewhere. Disappointing!!

This company hires an executive editor who also posts within the new forum element, he is an egotistical power crazy guy abuses his power within the community. Loud adverts that come at you full blast
Hornet was ok but then upgraded to the last way version and now as soon as I log in the adverts literally play out loud in the background of you using it and you can’t turn them off. It’s one thing having annoying adverts on apps but it’s another thing having them take over your phone audio and start playing out loud whatever they are trying to sell to you. This is the last thing I want when using this app. I’ll no longer be using Hornet until the adverts get sorted out and you get rid of the one that play audio out loud!

This app is rubbish because daily you get anywhere from 5-50 notifications all fake profiles sending you links and spam and rubbish.
Developers have done nothing to stop this so it’s all round just terrible experience now.

This app went to hell about 2 years ago with bugs and bots, but it’s back on track. Multiple photos, private albums, and critically you can actually filter by hashtags to look for niche things! Hopefully it’s reviews score goes up and it recovers, but it’s pretty empty compared to what it used to be.

Huge mistake
I use to absolutely love this app, I found my fiancé on here actually but in there greed for money it’s been ruined.
Anyone who uses this app to find a partner has to pay £9.99 a month which is way to expensive, cheapest option is a year which is depressing because I’d feel cheated if I payed for a year and found someone within a month, you’ve payed for another 11 months of waste.
Hornet use to be an amazing network but they destroyed it, now it’s just old guys that have money to throw around.

I now get dozens of spam messages a day. I can’t be bothered with them and have consequently uninstalled your app.
Update 23rd October 2018: I reinstalled the app. It’s totally ruined now. There’s more spam than ever, plus “sponsored” spam from Hornet themselves, and my feed is full of rubbish from “featured guys” that I’ve never heard of and don’t care about. I want to connect with real people near me, not random wannabe Internet celebrities on the other side of the planet.
This app was once better than Grindr but you’ve totally ruined it.
I’m uninstalling again and I doubt I’ll come back.

App is now terrible so I deleted it
Sadly this app has succumbed to spammers resulting in multiple messages each day trying to redirect you to another supposedly rival site. The process to report and block each profile that does this (as requested by hornet) is time consuming and still weeks on yields no results.
A lot of my friends have drifted away from this app over the last year and I too have now deleted my account. Seriously guys, there are other apps out there where the developers seem to give a crap about keeping our community safe. I wouldn’t waste my time on this one - besides, all the profiles on here are the same ones you get on the other popular yellow gay app 😂

I used to like this app until the spammers took over. Now it’s just ads (in messages, more than actual messages from users) and the occasional Trump story in the news section. Really Hornet? Riddled with Spam, built in with frustration
The app’s usability is very poor. When you block a profile, the messages and profile still appear in your inbox unless you refresh the page. Other guys can “follow” you, but you have no control over who can do this, and the information is public.
The worst aspect of this app is though that I receive daily spam messages. There seems little point reporting fake profiles as there’s no sign of the developers taking any action to stop it.

Spammers have ruined this app
.... and Hornet seem not to care. I could cope with the legitimate advertising, after all, the app has to be paid for somehow and there is always the option to upgrade to an paid for version with no ads. BUT Hornet have proved incapable of filtering out the fake profiles who “send you a pic” which is basically a .gif or .jpg of an advertisement to a rival dating site. Well, Hornet, you’ve not done anything about that. So by the time you read this I’ll have deleted your useless app and that’s one less person who will ever view your legitimate advertising. Your legitimate advertisers might be interested to know just how many potential targets are deserting your app in droves because you seem incapable of dealing with the spammers.

Now that H has announced facilities fir advertising that is all i get from dubious sources including America which is useless to me as I'm in London and nit interested anyway.
I find Gr loads much easier and quicker on London's 4g (virgin) - H just times out so useless out and about.
App needs slimming down and spammers reduced although seen as 'advertising'.
Not impressed with basic app do not likely to pay to upgrade.
Ill wait till 'update' and if not happy give my mobile/WA number to those I'm interested in and delete the app.

Constant SPAM messages
This app is appalling. It has always had a spam problem but in the past few weeks it has gotten ridiculous. The developers have done nothing about this. If you download this app you get half a dozen direct messages a day from fake users trying to promote scam websites. On top of that you’ll get Hornets own push notification advertising, and pop ups while trying to use the app. There’s only about 10 users in my whole city that appear to use this app anymore. I’m giving up on it too.

Used to be a great app, and better than the main competitors. But I’m seriously considering deleting due to the endless advertising messages from spam profiles - up to 10 a day and 4 or 5 messages per time. Super annoying and offputting.

This app used to be good however, it’s all gone down to pants now. I’d have deleted it if not because I was stupid enough to go premium. Whoever is in charge of security/registration need sacking as far too many spam account on the app now. I’ve actually stopped blocking and reporting spam account as I can’t be arsed getting 10 messages a day from spammers.

Spam messages
Not sure if the app developers fault but the amount of spam promo messages trying to get you to log into their competing website has exploded last few weeks. I’ve reported loads but they keep coming. No one genuine ever messages you, just spam trying to get your money. Time to delete.

Constant Spam
Not a bad app feature wise but on top of getting a huge amount of spam (and the process to report it being lengthy) they also put adds everywhere. It’s a bit like trying to surf the internet with a virus that constantly gives you pop-up ads.

It’s just bloody annoying ads now!! I would be happy to pay but they want stupid amounts of money!! Who wants to pay £8.99 a month to see some guys when 9 times out of 10 your not meeting them you just have a brief chat....
Now you open the app and it jumps to the feed bit... yes we use the app to read not see guys!

Vibrate on every message
This is irritating and obnoxious. It happens when sending and receiving messages within the app. Their solution, turn off vibrate for everything on your entire phone, because they are too lazy to remove the stupid feature. Well I actually need vibrate on most things, just not messages I’m watching be received from a gay app. I can’t use this in the evening as it is, because it wakes my partner up. It’s so completely unnecessary, bare minimum make it optional

Mixed feelings
Hornet is an excellent app for finding men in the local area however I have received abuse from an anonymous user and reported it multiple times. This abuse continues to come at me and includes body shaming and death threats. I can't help but feel like hornet mustn't care about resolving these issues or the safety of it's users.

It’s not Hornet’s fault if nobody finds interest in your profile. Maybe you guys need to upload a picture? Or it could simply be a matter of looks and tastes.. or maybe you’re just not good-looking. That happens..
As far as i am concerned, Hornet does the job it is supposed to : it helps me link with other guys around, and i’m thankful for that 🤡

Audio from ads, convoluted functionality and unfixed bugs. Not good anymore
I used to use this app when it launched, and it was really good at the time.
Since then, the cramming of new features and the push to get people to spend money has really ruined the app. Why have things like “who has viewed you” been put into the filter controls?! It’s just dumb!
Anything to do with ME should be clearly accessible from MY profile. NOT buried in hidden menus. Maybe then you could convince more people to actually consider buying a subscription.
Bugs found: uploading new photos aren’t visible unless you refresh the UI (change tabs), once I block someone - I should be taken back to the previous screen, messages are jumping out of order and only fix if you sign out and back in and the notification badge in the app doesn’t clear even when you have read a message (you have to go back into the chat for it to update). This is all primitive functionality and you can no longer get that right.
More infuriatingly (and I believe against Apple’s terms and conditions) - your ad partners have started playing music and redirecting to the App Store! Fix it or lose members to other services who have more users.
You cannot expect anybody to pay if you can’t get the basics right. At one time you did - so re-evaluate your development operations.

Awful
Used to be able to see way more guys than with the new version. Ads also now have audio for some reason, which you can’t deactivate - you have to turn the volume down completely. Shame because Hornet was once one of the better apps.

Absolute rubbish
Hornet used to be great, you could search people anywhere and see everyone online. They used to have ads pop up but they were bearable for what you could see. Now they’ve restricted the profiles you can see AND you have to put up with the ads. Bye Bye Hornet!! 😞

... but if now you are forced to pay, why choose Hornet? The only comms is right next to the forced upgrade. That's a horrid customer experience :(
Dated experience in that you get same grid of guys every time. Unless you can be bothered to meticulously block each one. I am now actively encouraging all my friends to move to Tinder and Romeo. Both are miles better. You've lost a great fan.

Just another Grindr now
As the other reviews say, this app used to have big advantages over Grindr but now restricts you heavily with a grid of only about 50 people and you have to pay to see more. I’ll give them a few chances to revert the changes but failing that I’ll delete the app, don’t need two Grindrs.
Oh and this app now makes high pitched beeping sounds even when your sound is off. What a pity, but time to delete.

Good app gone bad - don’t waste your time
I agree with other reviewers, used to be great but it is awful now. The forced advertising is the worst change - Every time you look at someone you get an ad, but even WORSE is it forcibly redirects you to the App Store in the middle of typing a message, repeatedly, so its actually impossible to use for its purpose because you can’t even communicate without being pushed away to advertising. Hornet, seeing as you are so intent on pushing us to use other apps all the time, WE WILL!

Rubbish compared to GRINDR
Absolutely stupid app, not fit for purpose. You cannot search for guys based on their preferences. What's the point in that case? Grindr has a fantastic Tribes setting, which guarantees that you can find guys that match your tastes.
The purveyors of this third rate application refuse to learn from the criticism. Far from improving its many many faults, they have actually downgraded it and made it useless.
There is nothing on this app that works properly. I wouldn't dream of paying money to get their so-called premium features.
Since I have got Grindr, I don't need this stupid app. Only a fool would use it.

The app now makes a loud beeping noise
This app makes a high pitch repeating beep sound that does not stop unless you quit the app. It's a far cry from any sort of private and peaceful use of the app, and has now I'm worried that everyone will stare at me when I use the app because of the atmosphere piercing beeping sound that it now emits.
This is the type of thing you would expect to be tested before released to the public.
Unless the loud beeping was intentionally introduced to the application. In which case this is now an amazingly poor app. Such a shame.

This App is now Rubbish :(
This WAS a decent app, lots of good features etc.
Latest update has brought a very limited grid of guys to view (unless you pay a lot of money) which is always the same guys as the app does not refresh to show online profiles of the moment like Grindr does.
So now, nobody really logs on, people are deleting & the app is not worthy anymore.
They have an obsession with providing a 'news feed' and stuff not needed, which you can find in other places, all people want is a grid of guys to connect with - keep it simple & don't altar the winning formula - A sad loss #RIPHornet

Used to be great now it’s rubbish
This app used to be a cut above grindr with being able to view hundreds of guys, favourite as many as you want etc. Now it’s a pile of ****. You can scroll through only a handful of profiles before they are blanked out. At least Grindr has a high number of users - this has not very many at all so it’s pretty much useless now. Don’t upgrade to the latest version!

Downgrade
Used to have unlimited guys and now it restricts you and asks you for a 💩 load of money for membership. Almost £10 a month?! Netflix is cheaper and look what you get with that, compared to this crappy app. Embarrassing to demand so much money, and take away once free features. I find way less people actually talk on this app compared to Grindr.
