Poor app
Content is great but app is poor, halfway through reading mag
“ grey boxes” appear over text rendering pages unreadable, sometimes it fixes if reinstalled but it’s an ultimately frustrating experience and I ended up deleting despite having paid for a year’s subscription. This doesn’t happen with other magazine’s apps.

Worst app ever
Rubbish app. As glitchy as possible. Contacted customer service by ‘phone & email. Just don’t want to know. Unable to log into app from the start. Love the magazine. Wish I’d never signed up for a subscription.

Keeps freezing
Paid the e magZINE KEEPS FREEZINGthrough their website and got a customer number. But app keeps saying customer number not then found and customer service is slow at resolving. Still has no access. Will be cancelling.

App doesn't remember you have a subscription
I got this subscription free with my bank account - wish I'd gone for something else! Had it for 6 months and never managed to read a full copy as subscription is always forgotten when you close the app, customer service is really unhelpful! I'm also a subscriber to Women's Health and have never had any problems with my subscription there - sort it out Elle!

And negative for customer service! Am annual subscriber, have not been able to access for two months: just get ad content and options to pay again and subscribe. Customer service appalling and unhelpful. Outstanding!!

Monthly issue very delayed
Previously Elle was available at the beginning of the month & the recent updates seem to have resulted in late delivery of each month's issue so that that they are not received until the end. That's if you get them at all.

Come on ELLE, sort this app out!
I never bother to write reviews but this time I'm so annoyed that I have to! When people are paying to read issues, we expect a high quality app.
Let's see all the various issues I've had in the last 15 mins: 1) once I go to the settings screen and press "done" to go back to home screen, the app crashes. 2) the last 15 minutes has downloaded about 2 pixels worth of the download bar for the latest issue (actually, it's crashed).
Elle magazine itself is great, but more and more people are going to be wanting to read issues via mobile so please spend some money on making a decent app?!? It's the least you could do...

Faulty app, poor customer service
Terrible experience. App randomly removes issues or asks you to pay for issues despite having a current subscription & being logged into your account. I can't access any of my current or past issues at the moment. Their "customer service" is nonexistent, I've been emailing them and the editor for 2 months to get problems solved but have yet to have them resolved. Used to love the print version but the digital edition is not worth the trouble or the expense.

Great fashion magazine
Love this but I wish the subscription cost was the same as the print version! I used to subscribe to the print version and moved to digital editions instead for all my magazines. Annoyingly I found that it was inexplicably more expensive than the offer I had (which was also printed in the magazine itself) for the print one (which includes packaging, postage and cover mounts). This seems strange and it meant that I haven't subscribed to the digital version as the discrepancy felt too annoying, I have bought one single issue which was great.

Very disappointing
I am a digital subscriber to Elle UK and have recently downloaded the latest version of the app which has left me very disappointed! I have previously purchased the 'This is London' edit and also the essential Ibiza edit and since the upgrade these have disappeared without a trace. I have tried to log in but it says my password is incorrect (it's not!) and the link to the page to retrieve it is broken. I have emailed their technical support over a week ago and received no reply. How can such a large organisation get it so wrong?!? Very bad form Elle! Get it sorted and soon!!

Press-ganged into an upgrade?
Elle UK magazine is a very good, but the upgrade to this version of the app has several issues. The upgrade changes to the app layout used by other Elle magazines such as Elle Canada, Elle Quebec and British Vogue. However, any magazine you purchased before January 2013 may not be available to re-download, even when you try to 'Restore All Purchases'. I bought two enhanced Elle UK magazines (January & May) in 2013, but found out that once the app is upgraded and when I restored my purchases I did not retrieve enhanced versions but standard versions. Checking the standard against enhanced for January 2013 showed that a section called '2012 That was the Year of the Dress' in the enhanced version was missing from the standard version. In fact several pages between 115 and 124 of the standard version were missing and a re-load did not change this. In the May 2013 enhanced version there are two Elle UK spring/summer promos that are missing from the standard version - although this may have been intentional as the page numbers for the standard version are consistent. Therefore, it may be the case that upgrading this app will mean that the only enhanced version you will have is February 2014. I have not bought January 2014, so cannot say whether that is also enhanced. It may have been an oversight, but ELLE UK needs to make it clear to subscribers and users of the app exactly what the changes are, not just state that magazines pre-January 2013 will no longer be available.

I'm a subscriber to the mag so wanted to get this to access back copies that I haven't kept. Disappointing then that I have to pay for this on top. Won't be doing that.

Just a PDF not fully interactive, stick with Print version
The U.S version is cheaper, better by a landslide incorporated with video and interactive text / images.
Stick with the Print version of UK Elle as there is not much saving on this bland version on iPad

I NEVER subscribed to your service...And yet I have seen a bill of payment in my apple itunes receipt to you. Why would I want a digital copy when I can have the real thing in paper for same price?? That is ridiculous! Please I wish not to waste any more time...I want an immediate refund. I have contacted itunes twice now and no concrete answer has come back. Do something about it!

The magazine is amazing to read on the iPad! Looks so good and is easy to navigate and zoom in on the features and pictures.

December issue = total nightmare
December issue released about two weeks after going on sale in print. Now it's finally available via this app…. but it's actually the January issue (Gaga) with the December cover (Michelle Williams).
I really want this app to improve and succeed. But the lack of interactivity (even basic links and page numbers would be an improvement) and poor / low res scanning are not helping their case.
Please sort December issue out!!

Poor scan job
My advice to Elle would have been to wait until they'd developed a real app. Buying the magazine here just means reading a scanned version of the paper copy. The layout doesn't work, the resolution is poor when you zoom in on text and there is no added functionality.
Having accessed US editions of magazines like Glamour on my iPad, I think I'll be sticking with US content for a while longer. Hurry up and catch up, UK publishers! This is just embarassing.

How can Elle charge the full amount it would charge for its paper version when the iPad version is so difficult to use and basically a PDF version? I work in media and everyone knows that magazines that want to do iPad have to make the apps interactive!! Just look at nat geo or project mags!!! ....

Terrible! Asking for a refund.
At 1to1 scale it's blurry and difficult too read. Zoom in it is nice and sharp but un usable. Basically a PDF at an unbalanced zoom state.
Also, Not as heavily interactive as the other mags which are way better. Truly a disappointment.

Great to have on iPhone but not adapted for mobile and too expensive
I love having Elle on my phone. It's great. I don't see how you can justify still charging £3.99 per issue for a downloadable copy. I will be buying a paper one in the future. It is like flicking through photos to read and it is hard to get the zoom right when trying to read the text, it is not automatic in fitting around text boxes when double tapping like safari is. There us still work to do.
