Fab App

I’ve used this for a month now and it’s brilliant . It’s made so much difference to my budgeting . It would be good to have just a couple more envelopes on the freebie or an option at a much cheaper rate for just one more account . It’s great though .

Poor security

The app itself was one of the best feature-wise, but I had an issue that caused me to send a query to support. It was then I discovered support have full access to every bit of data I entered into the app. This is a finance app so they can see how much I have, earn, spend, where I spend etc etc. It’s just unacceptable to have such poor security for a finance app. Shame, but I cannot use this. If you don’t care that your financial data is freely available to anyone with access to their systems, then go ahead as the app showed promise and the customer service was responsive.

Very confusing

The app is frustrating the hell out of me. It’s so unclear! You go to edit one thing and end up editing another. Spent ages adding everything and it seems a load of rubbish. Stick to an Excel doc!

Complete peace of mind

I have to say that this “little” app, made for several platforms and web based, ensures that my wife and I maintain complete oversight and control of our finances.

I split my spending using the 50:30:20 principle and created envelopes for sub sets within each e.g (50% need)Groceries, (50% need) Fuel etc.

At the end of each month I can compare my statements against my Goodbudget record.

It is a very powerful app but very simple to use. I cannot recommend it enough.

Very useful

We've been using this for some time, since its previous incarnation as EEBA. We find it very helpful. We both have it on our phones. There are a few things you have to go on the actual website to do, and certainly when initially setting it up it needs to be on the website not the app. The website is clunky and I'm glad that there is no need to use it after the initial set up.

I used to have it on my Kindle too, but sadly it's no longer supported for Kindle (despite being told I could get it on my new Kindle - that might be true in the USA, but IS NOT true in the UK) which is a pity, as that app had a search function which was really really useful when checking off bank statements. The iPhone app does not have a search function, which is a big omission, and for that reason I'm investigating other budgeting apps.

Fantastic app

I have been using this app for a month now and I feel like I am in control of my finances!

The envelopes work really well for me, helping me to see exactly where my money is going and how much I have to spend in each area.

I did all my budgeting using envelopes, so this app is very useful for me and my partner. Love that it syncs both our phones. Most useful app that i have on my phone.

Great app

V pleased with this. Syncs very nicely over the web so my wife and I can see in real-time our household spend vs budget. Also nicely graphics to show me at the end of the month where most of our spending is going, and how we can save more. Great job team Goodbudget!

Annoying

Downloaded the app, filled in the envelopes and then kept crashing on me - I then registered online and then re-downloaded the app - managed to do one envelope and it started to crash on my again - you need to sort this

Cannot thank you enough

Been using this app for 3 months now. We're finally in control of our finances and know exactly where every penny goes. I cannot recommend it enough: simple and intuitive UI, that makes you want to input each transaction as it goes without delay.

All you need to stay in control of your money

I've been using this app for years now. It's so easy to use and I always know exactly where I am with my money. Cannot recommend it enough.

We have our finances under control now

If you and your partner need to save or just can't see where your money is going, this app will solve it.

It can take a bit of discipline and reading to get to understand the envelope system but it does work.

The ability to sync you and your partners devices makes this perfect. You will see straight away where you are doubling up expenses.

Try and put the effort in, it will yield results.

Limiting unless you subscribe

This looks to be a useful app but you can't enter more than 10 categories without having to pay a subscription which is actually quite expensive. So overall disappointed with it as I'm not going to pay a monthly fee when it's supposed to be saving me money.

Good app, doesn't work.

A very good app in theory, for the 20 minutes or so that it worked it was fantastic, but now won't stay open for 5 seconds before crashing. If this could be fixed I'd give the app 5* but sadly it's unusable as it is.

Useful but not always intuitive

I use this app on a daily basis to help me save/keep on top of my money. The concept is great and works really well. The only issue I have is that it's not the most intuitive so if I want to do anything other than record a purchase, it takes me a little while to work out how to do it.

Life-changing

I use this app constantly and have been for five months. It has changed my relationship with money. Yes, I wish it would do a little more - I would pay for the proper version if it went mid-month, gave a daily budget for each envelope and could archive the past month's spending. Having said that, I've recommended this app to everyone and know others who have been similarly impressed.

Crashing

Just downloaded based on a great review from a friend. Having teething problems with currency conversion and put in a Kenyan shilling amount on a USD envelope- rate is 10-1. Now the app crashes everytime I open it so I can't use the app at all.

Excellent when it works

My wife and I have loved using this app. It has been very good for tracking expenditure. However, it crashes fairly often. The only solution has been revoke access to our phones via the website, delete the app, restart the phone (I have a 6 and my wife has a 5) and reinstall the app. That tends to make it work fine for a little while, but it will crash again a few days later. Defiantly 5 star if they can sort the crashing issues.

New budgeting

My husband and I found it very difficult to work together on our household budget. With this app we are able to both know a live up date of all our expenditure, helping us to live within our mines. Highly recommend - thank you for giving an option for making it free.

Keeps crashing on open

The app seems like it's good but I can't be 100% sure when it keeps crashing and closing itself on opening.

Would be a 5 but it does not work on my phone

I set up a new account, added envelopes and filled them and then signed my partner in on her phone as well. (We both have iPhone 5s).

Whenever a transaction is made is shows up on her phone but there is nothing on mine. I have tried reinstalling the app and setting up a new account and the result is always the same.

It a shame because I really like the app and if I could get it to work properly it would be really useful.

Ok app

I have used this for a few months now. While it is a good app and I especially like the envelopes system, it is extremely hard to add in money every month. It is very confusing, hard to use and update. I have given up on this app, sadly, because otherwise, its a good app.

Keeps closing and shutting down

Why does it shut off and close the program every time I try to make changes like input my expenses, add money or manage it online after I have sync it last night? I was OK at first, but after I try to manage the allocation, it bugged down on me. Is there an issue I do not know?
