Just what I was looking for, but after starting to use it I couldn’t recover any reports or sync the app until I verified my email address. Couldn’t find the verification email, and no way to request another. Becoming a distraction so had to find another app....disappointing

Expenses are frequently uploaded to the wrong report and the GPS tracker always cuts out at some point on my journey without fail. Becoming more of an inconvenience than a time saver

VAT function
This is my first time using the app and first impressions are good, however it would be good if the app were able to pull across the VAT also so it aligns with our accounts department requirements without having to refer back to the receipts. Otherwise it’s great.

This is a really useful app for recording and reporting expenses. However, the recent ‘improvements’ to the scan feature means that it no longer scans receipts capturing the data and I have to manually enter all data fields

I don’t understand how this app can have so many 5star ratings when all you see is complaints. I have wasted so much time with this app, it should have a health warning. Advice? Don’t!

Confusing experience
Such a struggle to figure out how expense reporting works in this app. Once an expense is reported I can’t use it for another report? Overall not very clear or intuitive exeperience.

Awful App
This app rarely gets receipts 100% correct. Each receipt needs to carefully checked. Classes receipts as duplicates, incorrectly assigns taxes, I’ve reported these to their support team and never had a reply

Slow and utterly useless
Takes hours to scan data from the receipt...and after couple of hours when it sends me an email saying that the receipt has been uploaded and I go to the app and it keeps saying that it is scanning...tried several times but to me this app seems like a useless app because it doesn't work...it's a joke...it only has the potential to frustrate the user rather than serving any purpose...would recommend using other apps which allow you to record expenses manually, much faster...takes only few seconds...

Waste of time
Couldn’t get this to work so had to reinstall it. Takes so much time to upload that quicker to use an app like spending and type info yourself. Also categories seem v limited there isn’t even a category for food and can’t see how I can add or amend categories if at all. Will give it one more go.

Tried to use this app to keep track of receipts and doesn’t work. I just keep getting error messages ‘oops something went wrong’. What went wrong was me wasting time and downloading it! ☹️

Idea is good, but doesn’t deliver.
This is a well designed, well thought out app. But it doesn’t work for me. The ‘smartscan’ feature, which you just take a photo of your receipt and it creates a log of that transaction doesn’t work. The app just keeps trying and trying to scan but to no avail. I have left my phone on for hours and it still does not work. Hopefully they get this fixed, cos this app would be great!
I’m on the latest version of iOS and the app.

‘Smart scan’ doesn’t work! I waited more than 15 mins for a receipt to be scanned, before giving up and deleting the app.

Your app doesn’t work boys....
Tried it today. Seemed like it had really good potential..... Then I tried it.... used camera to photo a good quality receipt into app twice. Both times waited over 5 minutes for it to finish scanning. I am connected via a home fibre internet connection but unsuccessful both times .... continually scanning .... allllwayyyss scanning.... no good if in a shop, restaurant with my woman, in front of clients .... or even if at home in front of nobody....
Boys! This app doesn’t work!
3 days later.... you sent me 2 emails to say the expense has been captured. TWO friggin emails for ONE £27($34) receipt.... So... I go into app. I see the entry. Tap to open it ... “an error has occurred...” ....can’t see the actual receipt that took forever to scan and I got two emails for.
What are you guys playing at?

Terrible user interface
Pointless app;
One. You must enter a merchant every time you take a photo of the receipt before it will save. Typing on your phone when paying for a meal with the client doesn’t impress anyone.
Two. Tries to autopopulate expense category, never gets it correct and have to “preview report” to identify all the ones it got wrong.
Three. A drop down will appear to tell you “changes saved” and hangs around for three seconds during which the app doesn’t function.
Four. “Expenses” screen doesn’t show category of expense.
Five. Camera takes too long to load and can’t be bypassed to upload a screenshot
Six. Can only place one photo per receipt, so can’t do multiple screenshots of badly formatted email receipts.
Would recommend looking for an alternative.

I use Expensify for my company expenses and it’s brilliant. The smart scanner is awesome, takes a while but it captures all of the details. Whilst heavily automated, it’s extremely accurate and helpful. Highly recommended

It used to be easy and quick to add a receipt. Now I have to do many more clicks to add a receipt - why complicate things? VERY frustrating! Roll back please, quickly!!!!

Revolutionary
I travel to several countries on one 17 day trip. I log my expenses as I go. It uploads automatically into correct currency. All I do is photograph the receipts and upload. Jon done . My book keeper sees each day what is being spent.

Was great, currently broken
A number of changes in the latter half of 2017 have broken this app and made it essentially unusable. Broken Amex connections, broken SmartScan, broken logic for assigning receipts to expenses, broken foreign currency handling and totally broken support presided over by the psychopathic AI that is Concierge. If you’re considering this app to help you manage your expenses, don’t get locked in - at least until they make some serious changes. I’ve just downgraded my review again because Expensify keep emailing me about this review but don’t reply to bug reports!

Get rid of concierge inbox - the app doesn't work
Simple enough web application, but the app doesn't work. (iPhone 6) It won't accept my perfectly acceptable password, and I'm stuck in the concierge inbox and unable to access any basic app functionality i.e. - scanning receipts, creating expenses, etc. Looked great to start off with, but I'm disappointed with the basic functions which don't work. Don't release the app if it hasn't been bug tested to a basic level first!

Useless it is definitely not but it has some really annoying features.
The concierge is putting me off. I want it switched off as it is of no use for me and I do not want it. It is just like a nagging aunt, ranting in the background. I wish I could tell her to F off and leave me alone.
The app is really not as flexible as it should be, trying to drag you into some kind of fixed corporate mentality which you may not want to be part of.
Originally, you could add smartscans directly from within an individual reports- to make sure it is in the right place- nice and simple. Now, the only way you can add a smartscan is by pressing the green bitten and it is automatically allocated to either the last used report or according to some rule which you will have created. The trouble is that the rule creation process is very inflexible. You can not allocate smarts and to a specific folder or create a rule for them to be added to a newly created folder each month bearing the name of that month.
This means that once a smartscan was created, you have to manually allocate it to a report unless the last used report happened to be the correct one- unlikely if you work on several projects at the same time and you want to log your time in different reports frequently.
The customer service keep banging on about how you should leave the app do all the work but it actually is a nuisance.
I am a paid subscriber but seriously considering Harvest or another app. Looking into it for now.

Horrible UX
Just horribly designed app.
Have to create expenses before adding them to report rather than create a report then creating an expense within it.
To create an expense is long: click +, choose expense, choose receipt, brings to taking a picture, as I already have them tap on the bottom left to pick one, when it's picked it exits the expense and starts a SmartScan which never works. You can't cancel it and have to wait for it to fail to continue. You can't disable the SmartScan feature.
The UI is also horrible. Text overlapping, looks like it was made 5 years ago and never updated.
Do not use.

It's good but also bad too! Most people using this I'm sure are probably self employed types like me - but they make this weirdly complex and for corporate use - the most annoying thing is that you can't amend expenses once you've submitted them even though in effect I'm sending them to myself!! PLEASE JUST LET US SWITCH SOME FEATURES OFF. MORE FLEXIBILITY PLEASE!! Amendment: the ios app works fine but most of the real settings are on the Web only which us a but bad tbh - come on updated pls 🙁

Absolute rip off
I've used this app and suddenly ended up being billed for some smart scan / concierge feature. The customer service is shocking, useless call centre operators asking useless meaningless questions in a single meaningless sentence with each response. After about 9 messages with them, I'm no further forward in getting them to cease charging me for some useless service I don't need. They're offering me some useless concierge service. Be careful of these people, once they get money from you, it is so difficult to cease this or get any meaningful customer service answers. Or even see billing history.

So far , so good . I'm paying around £6 a month , which sounds high but as I generally leave my expenses for several months at a time I figure I need the kick ! Hoping it'll now make me submit each month as it's easy , pain free and simple PDF end sheet .

Awesome App :)
After spending the first year collecting, snapping pictures and sending messy notes to accountant i received a thank you note in the post after kicking off this finanical year with this app.
The smart scan is slow but heck, improvements will be in the pipeline i'm sure.
Everything else works great, the reports are easy to use, send a pdf version of it to any email address (i ping each month straight onto my accountant). It contains everything he needs, as long as you input the information correctly if not using Smartscan. (Will warn you if there is a potential duplicate receipt taken too)
Really simple to use, couple minutes and you'll be snapping away and clearing up the mess of receipts you keep (i'll admit i still have mine in envelopes, old school, but having them all on an easy to understand report in my emails is awesome)
I have used the report feature to track my expenses as well, so easy once a project is finished to fire over everything required to get my expenses back and the documented evidence for the company.
Been a live saver, thank you guys!

No more receipts!
No longer do I have to carry around piles of paper receipts. This neat little app stores them for me. I don't even have to type in the details, just take a photo and they do it for you. Such a massive time saver!
