Developer response: Tried that thank you and after approx 22 emails with support they suggested not using the iPhone app, but thanks for the suggestion!
EDIT: great to see the app IS STILL BROKEN! A year later still trash. The old app was garbage but this is somehow worse. Chrome cast (as several others have reported) no longer work and instead just constantly buffers. Games UI looks nicer but is clunky to use. No one needed a story mode. No one. What we’re paying for is games, please for the love of god sort out the casting. Update: still broken, not getting playback errors but condensed games now just crash, still constant buffering when casting. You realise this is a paid for product, I’d quite like to be able to view the content I’m paying for.

Same bugs as last season plus new ones.
The app is fine in that it has all the news, highlights and games available.
However, trying to watch a game on this app is as frustrating as ever. Every 10 seconds a banner appears at the top of the screen with an airplay option cutting off the picture.
To add to that, this season there’s now a banner appearing at the bottom too, cutting off the broadcast score and stats.
I don’t understand how this can STILL be an issue when the whole point of the app is to watch nba games.
Can the developers just focus on the fundamentals for a minute and make games easy to watch uninterrupted, rather than all the other flashy bloated stuff added each season?

A complete abomination
2023 season update! Cool additions such as games not playing due to error. New and ridiculous menu for the choice of game format. Continued refusal to have forward and rewind buttons that work properly. Glad to see the team have put in the effort to make sure the NBA app remains the worst app I have. I’d say pat yourselves on the back but you’d probably miss.
No other app has ever invoked the visceral sense of anger I get whenever I use this incarnation of the NBA app. You guys should be ashamed. The only positive thing about it is the chuckle I have when I see that little Microsoft badge proudly advertising the fact that they designed it. Last years app was a very poor, 1 star worthy effort but I’d love to have that one back again. Get your act together guys, people are paying money to use this thing. Reply to your response. Asking for my feedback says it all. If you use the app for half an hour, you would know what’s wrong with it but I have to assume it was never tested given how unimaginably bad it is. You only need to look at the reviews in chronological order and you will know that this app is a disaster. The fact that you reply to the record setting cold streak of 1 star reviews with the same copy paste response and still do nothing about it only adds to the irritation. You really need to scrap this thing and start over, it’s to the point where a life long fan is considering just ditching watching the NBA to avoid having to use the app.

iPad version not working
I had an issue with the app on the iPhone and was resolved when I deleted and reinstalled. Unfortunately this hasn’t resolved the issue on my iPad. It freezes every 2 seconds and eventually I get a playback error message and can’t play the video at all. I tried contacting customer services but that doesn’t work either.

Awful, new version is a big downgrade
They’ve involved Microsoft to make a new version of the app, and it’s demonstrably worse than the old version. No option to download games and games take waaay longer to be available for streaming than they did on the old app.
Also, don’t try and use it anywhere without wifi. Even with full 5G signal you get terrible picture quality.
I’ll be cancelling my League Pass subscription as the app just doesn’t offer what I need it to anymore. The NBA have made the experience worse and put league pass prices up. Terrible.

App is so slow, used to be great but the past few years has been bad. Constant playback errors, slow and unresponsive. Sign you out which means when you open it the ‘hide scores’ is no longer on. Which spoils the scores for me who lives in the uk.

Beginning of last season was awful and terrible after the upgrade in spite of the NBA being so happy about that they were posting it on social media.
Looks like beginning of new season is going to be another nightmare. When I try to watch yesterdays game (first game of preseason), nothing happens. I click/touch in the triangle icon that is supposed to start the video, nothing happens. The icon looks inactive and the look is so poor and pixeled that gives the impression of a fake app.
Can’t change the game provider either, the drop-down doesn’t work.
Really poor work again from the nba.

Lack of basic functions.
Frustration has built with this app since last season but to come back to it now the new NBA season is about to begin to find it still isn’t working is not good enough. I subscribe to League Pass Premium and have nothing to show for it! All the additional content, such as historic games, interviews and NBA TV I should be entitled to and am paying for just don’t work. I have tried to get around this by signing in on Safari but it gives me no other option than to redirect back to the App to “watch” but then doesn’t play the video I’ve selected. Playing videos that have been selected should be a basic function of this App, yet somehow it struggles to do that correctly!!
I’m sure my review will be taken seriously though by a ‘copy and paste’ job from the “developers” thanking me for my feed back and telling me they will fix the issue. Pointless.

The app itself is great. Sure the price for the league pass is fairly high but the highlights give you a good idea of what’s going on. I also love watching the pro ams because that one commentator who adds funny sound effects over everything (shame I can’t find his name anywhere) I’m mainly writing this review to let you know of a MAJOR safety risk I found in the app. When setting up an account, you have to put in part of you address. This is a normal part of these kind of apps. HOWEVER, if you tap your profile and go into “app info” it shows that part of your address AS WELL AS YOUR IP ADDRESS. If you get hacked, the hacker could go into “app info” to FIND WHERE YOU LIVE. I hope you update the app to remove this information from the “app info” or else your gonna get sued BIG TIME on day

Buffering instead of hoops - NBA failed miserably
I don’t normally spend time writing bad reviews. But this app is the worst !!! I’ve spent £20 a month for 9 months , to watch the fantastic NBA season . Instead I’ve been living in the 90’s and watching this app buffer game after game !! Many games in the playoffs I couldn’t even watch because they wouldn’t load & play with out stopping and starting .Maybe get rid of all the extra crap on the app & just make it stream games ? After all we are here to watch NBA games, I can go to ESPN get scores n highlights .

Ruined the app in 2022
I have subscribed to the NBA app for the past 6 years and had no issues until they updated it this season. I complained about the issues and was told to delete and re-download the application, but it made no difference.
I can’t watch a game without it bugging out and stop playing. I can no longer download games to watch offline later and it is such a downgrade of quality for the produce.
Such a shame I have to cancel my subscription because of the quality of the application.

UK viewing
This app would be great, if it was not for consistently still not being able to view the game 3-4 hours after it has finished. Just constant loading screen.
It’s already bad enough to not get every game when our UK broadcasters also don’t get every game. Meaning pirate viewing is the only option. But then games that are on constantly don’t load.
How can the NBA try and grow globally when the app makes the experience so terrible.
Also, add a fast forward function. Most people are viewing on an iPad or phone. Trying to tap the “10 second” skip button which has zero margin for error before you just end up tapping out of it is so frustrating. With the amount of time outs and breaks, you have to have a 3x fast forward function. If you are a developer, try skipping through a time out without wanting to throw your phone across the room.

This app is one of the worst ever I won’t be subscribing again next year. I’m paying for a service I can hardly ever use! Mobile, iPad, Xbox all don’t work properly.
Games cut out constantly giving errors and this is only when your lucky enough that the game actually starts playing at all!
The worst part is there no alternative to watch games back here in the UK so this is going to be the end of watching basketball for me and others I know because this is a waste of time and money!

Fix the basics
Very buggy app, regular error screens, shifting video from horizontal to vertical takes ages to adjust, battery consumption is insane. Once you exit a video screen, it doesn’t get you back to the same moment, you have to scroll. Also, I am not seeing an option to upload games to watch offline or on the move. What a joke for Microsoft to sponsor this ))
Apart from fixing the basics, a few suggestions:
- pls include the VODs of full versions of the analytics programs, now only short videos are available;
- pls include video timecodes to be able to jump to particular moments in VODs.

Worst App I’ve ever used for streaming
Title says is all. Hands down, no exaggeration this is the worst app
Glitchy playback - it’s isn’t our internet, no other app we use for streaming glitches like this
Cuts out mid game - sometimes when you are using the app, the steaming just cuts out and resets to the beginning. Which is a huge problem if you don’t know which minute of the broadcast you were on. So bad.
Playback controls sometimes don’t even show. So you can’t go back to a game you were watching and find where you were. You need to watch agin from the beginning.
Also, the app logged me out, so when I opened the app, the scores were showing, spoiling the game I was about to watch.

I’m not normally one to write a review burn felt like I needed to on this one. I live the app in the sense I get to see recaps of the games not televised here in the UK. Only probables I have with it now that previous versions game you the option to watch a game recap with scores hidden. Now you have to go into the game, select to show scores then scroll down to click on the recap. For someone like me who whatever sport it is doesn’t like to know the score before watching highlights/recaps this is very annoying. I don’t understand why you’ve taken this feature away. I literally have to squint my eyes after pressing show scores and scroll down and try find the game recap and click on it just so I can enjoy it without knowing the score. Previous versions had this option available so why has it been removed. I get it’s too late into the season/playoffs to change this but please take this on board for next season. Please make it so it is possible to have the scores hidden but access the game recap without showing what the final game score was. That was people like me can enjoy the highlights and actually not know the result.

Unbelievably bad
With 2 days left of the season and after constant emails before pre-season, during Preseason, during the start of the season, at Christmas and in the new year, the powers that be decide to do another update when everything is important for playoff Seedings. Couldn’t watch any games at all on the 2nd to last day as it said I needed to purchase the games, then on the final day I manage to START watching a game but as soon as it goes to a game break the App now does ads for either League Pass (which is ridiculous as if you’re watching the game you already have league pass!) or NBA Auctions. Whatever ad they show doesn’t allow you back into the game. So we’ll and truly ruined the whole season of NBA for me now. Leave the app alone when it works! I’ve probably only seen about 30% of the games and content that I’ve paid for this year, had to buy a new Roku box because one of the updates meant that the sound no longer synced with my working box from the last few seasons. Just the most tedious and frustrating service I’ve ever had and no matter what, it’s always “log out, log in, check for updates, unplug your router…” All of those things never matter. The app is the worst it’s ever been - I’ve had league pass for at least 10 years and yet this is the first year that I’ve had more than one issue. Ruined the game for me

Worse Every Year
Year after year, they refuse to improve a product that we all pay for through League Pass. The app is constantly down/crashed and this year they removed the ability to download games for offline viewing. That is a huge benefit lost. To a lesser degree of frustration, the “Hide Scores” function often turns resets itself to Off, which is another important function for overseas/expat viewers.
How is this new update not fixed yet? All of my problems above still exist and since the last update, I can’t even open the app. They’ve outdone themselves this time, it feels like a slap in the face to long-time paying customers.

Made it impossible to watch the games
The new version of the app no longer has the option to download games. As someone in an area with poor internet I used to slowly download and then playback once the entire thing was there. Now the internet connection isn’t good enough to stream without it constantly freezing and a very poor picture quality. Which means I basically can no longer actually watch the games. 😩 Update: the response to my comment was to update the app. I have the most up to date version, this isn’t an issue with my version, it’s a function you have chosen to take away from the app!!
2nd update: I gave it 5 months and not much has improved. Still no ability to download, it still doesn’t remember where you were if you exit a game and still terrible editing where you get all of the half time show but randomly cut sections of actual play. As a result I have not renewed my subscription. I’ll keep an eye on reviews and if at some point it looks like these have been fixed I’ll pick back up then.

Using the app on my Phone you cannot download games to watch offline like you use to.
Also if I have hide scores checked then please don’t show that the game went into O/T on the game icon. Also why no condensed viewing option whilst watching it via the app on Apple TV. Also on Apple TV when you go to your game (hide scores checked) right below the game viewing window it shows interviews and guess what the headlines can spoil the outcome. I’ll not be using the app next season. You tube has enough options for watching highlights for free.

Broke a working app
The app used to be brilliant. Now it is terrible. Aside from the user interface being awful, and all the other issues people have already mentioned, my main issues with this app are:
- Inability to download games for offline viewing. Supports response: “ This feature is not supported on the new NBA app at this time.”
- inability to continue from where you left off viewing a game (app team - you heard of Netflix)? Instead I have to remember what minute I stopped watching the game and then fast forward to that the next time. This was a resolved issue with the previous app but since has been removed.
Finally, and more about content than the app. The edits of the games have been terrible. For instance, a game winning buzzer beater at the end of a game will not now have a replay because the edited version just stops. Instead we get to watch crowd members dancing during time outs/breaks.
Please fix this.

Frustrating and getting worse.
I’ve been using the NBA app for a few years now and honestly it’s pretty impressive how it manages to continuously get worse.
This season’s version for some reason has no full screen mode for game highlights which is just bizarre, the latest pre All Star update seems to have removed the Standings section from the bottom menu!?
Video playback quality isn’t as bad as it used to be but for an app that’s only real purpose is video playback that should be a given.

Is good……when it works
So, I’m in two kinds whilst writing this. Reason being, that when it works it’s absolutely awesome to be able to catch up on games and highlights and NBATV etc. However, more often than not, it is sooooo frustrating. I’ve lost count of the number of times that when I want to watch a catch up game that it just displays some error message. Now it does this on both my iPhone and my Samsung smart TV which is hardlined broadband so it is nothing to do with steaming. The subscription is expensive and I recently had an email stating that next years price was nearly triple this years. So I won’t be renewing as it is expensive as it is and frequently doesn’t deliver on service provision. Really frustrating as trying to access NBA in the UK, this is the only way. For the money they want, they need to sort out the issues.

Great improvement in aesthetics
Great overall improvement of aesthetics of the site. However they have removed some functionality such as downloading games for when you are on the go and also using airplay from the app you can no longer lock your phone screen. Other than those two things, great overall changes to the app.

This is now my third review of the year. I was hoping it would improve. The latest update states “an improved NBA league pass experience” and it’s simply anything but. Error messages are becoming more frequent, couldn’t watch my teams game in the UK this week until 2 days later. Wake up five hours after the game finishes and only viewing options are home condensed and all possessions. Full versions rarely available, and when they are they are edited so poorly. Last season this app was brilliant. Fans pay a lot of money for this and the service has been utterly shocking. You will lose fans and subscribers - how can you still be getting it so wrong?

Second Review This Season… It’s Gotten Worse
I have to leave a second review, because this is flat out ridiculous now. It’s somehow gotten worse. Before it was the struggle to connect and when I could it would stutter every 20secs or games weren’t edited or just something. Now I can’t even watch a single game without getting an error, whether it’s a past game or live the same issue occurs. It just won’t load anything.
Can’t even look at the box score of game properly without it being unresponsive.
Then I tweet the League Pass Support for help, literally get no response. I paid over £100 for the season for what seems to be no reason.
Funny thing is I know if I ask for my money back they won’t reimburse me, even though they’ve essentially sold a false product.
It was fine how it was before… but this season it’s straight up horrible

Totally useless
Based in the UK, the app last year was buggy but we did manage to watch some games on it. This year we can’t watch a thing, constant error messages games don’t load so no playback at all. Have been on to support repeatedly.. updated the app, reinstalled it, cleared the cache, totally up to date ipad and always the same error.. nothing helps and we just get the same messages about how they’re really bothered and I should log out and log in again. Totally had enough now.. they took our money for the whole year and we’ve got nothing for it.. total con! Am now off to message them yet again because funnily enough latest update has had no effect! I want a refund now this is totally unusable

I Would Give Zero Stars If I Could!
The NBA season has been up and running for weeks and despite constant complaints from basketball fans and users this app is still awful. The developers have took something that worked last season and ruined it. My first issue is that despite paying for a subscription and having reported the matter several times to NBA Support I am still unable to watch a game through my Apple TV box. The app opens and all images are there (at times with unwanted spoilers despite having results hidden which is another downgrade on this app from previously) However select to watch any game live or on demand and you get the error message stating that the data is missing. So I then stream from my phone to the tv which is a lottery as to how well it works. The only reliable way of watching the game is on my phone and I did not pay the price to watch on a small screen. Once watching a game on demand the editing is abysmal. Then throw in the subtitles running across the screen that it is a lottery whether you can get rid of.
And before I get the same copy and paste developer response that I see constantly here please be aware I have already reported the matter repeatedly to NBA Support, my app is the latest version, my internet is reliable and fast, I have cleared every cookie etc, I have deleted, reinstalled and logged back into the app on all platforms. The error is with your product which worked just fine last season!

So many issues with the new app.
When I cast to my chrome cast the playback glitches every 5 seconds and is impossible to watch. This didn’t used to happen on the previous version of the app.
Also, when I exit from a recorded game and then re-enter it, the playback position is lost and it starts from the beginning. Again, this didn’t happen on the old version.
I’ve tried using the app on multiple devices and still getting the same issues. Please could you look into this and fix them in the next update?

App has been ruined.
Please do not send worthless platitudes, just fix the problems you have created with this app (that was never perfect, but at least did the basics well). Current issues I am experiencing are:
- Unable to download games. Why? Was always a feature from day one & a basic feature in every other streaming app!
- Chromecast support is awful. Constantly hangs/jumps, then resets to the beginning of the game when you go back into the app. Then no actual time on the bar at the bottom, so you have to guess where you were. So bad!
- the GUI was never the best, but this feels like a step back. Takes much longer than necessary to access the broadcast you want. Plus, no way of watching quick highlights without being told what the score was. Ridiculous!
I sincerely hope people are working on all these issues your customers are having & not just sending “sorry” messages.

The new app is worse than the previous 😔
Really disappointed in the new app unfortunately. The UX is much worse than before. I preferred the app as it was before, more simplistic maybe but far easier to use and navigate. This one is a real pain now, when you want to access the box score the game is starting automatically which makes the page real slow… Understanding the manipulation just to get to chose the features broadcast is really bad and don’t work all the time. But I think the worst of the worst is really the Apple TV app which became an absolute garbage very hard to use 😔 I hope you’ll be able to fix and improve it fast, thanks 😊

New version of the app is horrendous
I get it, it’s a new season, there’s a shiny new app, with all the possible bells and whistles fans could ask for. I bet the dream sold internally was spectacular. But what has actually been delivered is exceptionally poor and will be until all the bugs and kinks are ironed out. I have no doubt that in about 9 months this thing will be epic - but for now it is a massive disappointment.
Key issues:
Games don’t load. On average it takes about 6-8 minutes for replays of games to start streaming.
While you’re waiting for the stream to start, you can’t do anything else. None of the other functions work - you can’t peruse the box scores, you can’t load shorter highlights or key plays. You can’t check any stats.
When you do manage to start a game - do nothing else. Heaven help you if you dare scroll down to check some of the stats in-game. The screen becomes stuck and you can’t then scroll back up to watch the content.
For the developers (who I’m sure are trying their best). I have the latest version of iOS for my iPad. I have downloaded, updated, deleted and reinstalled the app about 12 times - I definitely have the most up to date version.
Such a let down given the old app was terrific (as the app rating scores attest)

The score still show in the video even with hide score on
Hey Good app but as I’m in the UK I watch most games on repeat, on the new app even when you switch hide scores on the score still show up in the recap of the videos at the top in white when they start playing., this did not happen on the old app pls pls can you fix this and I’ll change to 5 stars! ⭐️
To teh developer responses I had yesterday saying to me am I on teh latest update yes I am and the issue still persists with score showing on recaps pls pls fix this it ruining my seasons and all my friends have the same issue!!!!!!

Has issues
I’ve used this app for years to keep up on games. However this year there’s issues where watching full games it skips segments. Big one I just watched was Cleveland against New York, the games playing then all of a sudden 20 seconds have gone and missed points. Happened in every game I’ve watched this year but that game was particularly bad. Please sort this as never happened until this season and ruins it a bit by missing potential key plays

The new app is terrible. So laggy!! Performance of the app is so bad. Does not load quickly. Can’t choose a stream without loading the preselected game first. The video randomly pause 5 minutes in each game for some reason. The editing of games is terrible, cuts out shots that LEADS INTO timeouts. Leaving in the halftime shows. If want to watch a game Live and join midway through a game, the video starts from the BEGINNING and you have to click LIVE which the app might lag. This is the worst iteration of this app in the last 10 years. Borderline unusable !!!

Awful App that isn’t fit for purpose!
My rating is actually zero stars! I’ve been an avid NBA subscriber for many years and have had few problems with their app over these years. This new version is not fit for purpose as it doesn’t work on Apple TV and is patchy at best on my iPad. I’m able to watch the free content on Apple TV however the moment I sign into my account a message states the data isn’t available and I can’t even view the free game recaps. I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, reset etc but to no avail. The customer service is shocking and merely send a generic email with reset & reinstall suggestions! I’ll be requesting a full refund as the app and service are truly shocking.

New Update is Terrible
I don’t usually write reviews for apps but I felt like I needed to in this case as I have used the NBA App for years.
This new update for the latest season is horrible.
To start the new UX design is awful, from the box scores, to looking a player stats. The old design was 10 times better and did not need changing! I understand that you want to freshen up the app every now and again but the design is horribly setup.
Next the playback videos on the app are jumpy, take ages to load and like the UX design are really bad.
Please change this immediately, even if that’s bringing back the old features from the app!!

New app needs de-bugging
Generally, as a U.K. fan, I adore my Game Pass and the app. However the updated version for 2022 are making streams glitchy / stop-start in app and AirPlay to TV impossible. On the AirPlay point, is there a reason the NBA app is nowhere near as integrated into Smart TVs as the NFL app? What I’d give to not have to AirPlay!!
UPDATE: I reinstalled the app as advised and it’s made no difference. I cannot even play a game on my phone - cannot get through a quarter either on my phone or AirPlaying to my smart TV or Apple TV box. I’ve not been able to stream any game in full. What am I paying the subscription for. Massively disappointing. The app needs fixing ASAP.

Update is absolutely terrible
The new ui is fine, but the streaming experience (which is 99% of what you use in the app) is a hundred times worse than it was before - on both mobile and Apple TV.
Mobile
-can’t now download games for offline viewing
-screen ratio jumps around when in landscape
-can’t go to full screen on iPhone 12 (ie. Soon in like you can on all streaming apps)
-scrolling is much harder
-doesn’t cut out timeouts and halftime anymore so have to skip through (which is hard)
-doesn’t remember where you left off if you come out of game and return
Apple TV
-can no longer go forward/back 10seconds. This is unbelievably basic functionality that has disappeared for some unknown reason
-doesn’t remember where you left off the game
-scrolling accurately is pretty much impossible. Jumps around so much
-this literally means I will not use this anymore which is a shame because it was awesome last year
Cannot believe how much worse these apps are compared to last season. Hope they can at least add the basic function of forward/rewinding on Apple TV asap and then fix the other multitude of problems.

Awful update
The app has removed the ability to download games for offline viewing which I just cannot believe. No explanation that I can find for why, so if you want to watch NBA on the go or on the train for example then you need to have perfect reception and a mobile contract with unlimited data allowances. This lack of flexibility has ruined my ability to watch and to keep up to date with my favourite team so I have cancelled my League Pass subscription. Even when trying to get along with the app by way of streaming there is, as others have reviewed recently, terrible issues with freezing and crashes. What a total mess they have made of it.

New Update
This is really disappointing compared to the other version - cannot turn off subtitles and sometimes display in the middle of the screen, download function has gone, a lot of new stream options but missing the one that removes ads and breaks, home / away stream isn’t always correct, can’t navigate away from the app or the Apple play drops. Very poor if you are paying for season pass. Hoping all of the updates fix these glitches

I’ve given this a few more weeks to settle down but this is still really poor. The subtitles issue has been fixed however the other problems above still remain when you airplay and now if you pause for longer than a few seconds the airplay drops and you need to restart the app multiple times.
Chrome is also completely unwatchable and constantly buffers.
This would be ok if this was a free app and free to stream but when you are paying £130 it’s unacceptable

It was good before but after the update it’s awful
I’ve been an avid user of the NBA app for 9 years now and I’ve never been as disappointed as I am with this app after the update.
Scrolling through the app is an issue, since it’s jumpy and tends to freeze a few times. Watching games is also a terrible experience as it takes a few efforts before I actually get to view the game. This is also the case when I try to switch through games.
It was great to use before with no issues, so I feel like this is just another example of attempting to fix something that wasn’t broken and made it worse.

Shouldn’t have changed the app
Im from the UK and so i watch the rockets games the following morning (mostly) and since the update for this season thats become impossible. Constant playback errors and issues mean i no longer can and usually (but not always) the game will work later in the day. Which is frustrating as i want to watch the game without knowing who’ll win and thats near impossible without avoiding all forms of social media for the day.
Why did the app change? The last 2/3 years it works fantastically but this seasons update has completely ruined it for me. Yes it works when watching live but the whole point of paying for this service is i can watch it when i want to.

Apple TV - new app look 👍 - scrubbing 👎
Love the new app layout but there are some key functionality issues with the Apple TV app.
As of the latest version there is no scrubbing option to rapidly skip through halftime or the intro. The only forward/rewind option are tapping on the edge of the 1st generation Siri remote for 10 seconds at a time. I don’t know if this is different with the new remote as I don’t have one.
There are also consistent error messages when streaming NBA TV content. Often saying stream not found.

Doesn’t even cast to chrome properly
App doesn’t cast properly to chrome today it just gets worse day by day. Constantly stalling , very jittery like you have poor bandwidth. AVOID. 12/10 Still having problems casting from iOS to chrome. Buffers unnecessarily and struggles to cast at all particularly around 06:00 uk time. Persistent subtitles also. 13/10 I have the latest app but still issues with casting and subtitles. On the eve of the nba season this isn’t good enough. Seriously thinking about cancelling my subscription 15/10 casting from iOS to chrome still buffers but it has got better over the last week. It’s taken me 4 hours to watch Boston v Raptors due to dropping connection restarting and buffering. Also subtitles still prevalent across all games when casting
18/10 reinstalled app started to cast to chrome no subtitles….brilliant…..4 minutes into the 76’s v Boston started buffering and 404 errors resulting in disconnection from chrome. Tried 3 times to cast, fine for around the same length of time before I start seeing problems with buffering and disconnecting from casting.

New version of the app is a downgrade
First off - I used the old version of the app every day during the season for a couple of years now, watching 1-2 games each time. It was definitely in need of a bit of a face lift but it worked every time I went to use it. The new app is complete garbage, bad UX design, lots of error messages, completely broken on Apple TV, Chromecast feature doesn’t work anymore, stuttering in video playback - you name any feature, it’s worse than the old app.
I really hope the team are hard at work fixing it because paying a £15 monthly premium to access league pass I expect it to actually work when I want to use it, the experience this preseason has been terrible and when contacting their support via Twitter DM I was told to check the list of supported devices (all my devices are on the list of supported devices!) which was a complete waste of time.
I hope the product team reads the feedback on twitter from customers because I’m not the only one and it really has been poor - please fix the app, it’s a vital part of the experience for international fans and it’s currently in a state of complete ruin.

Why change what wasn’t broken
I purchased a year subscription and I watch every game retrospectively throughout the day since I’m in the UK.
Since this new update and the new new update 19 hours ago (8th Oct 22) I have uninstalled and reinstalled the APP twice and I STILL can’t watch any games!!
This playback error needs to get sorted ASAP!
They’ve not updated the PlayStation version of the app so I can’t watch matches on there either.
I’ve tried on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook on the browser and it’s all the same! Nothing is working except NBATV which isn’t even correct with the schedule displayed on there.
All the news and stories on the feature page now ruin the score lines of the matches that I can’t even watch! I can’t even watch the condensed games or anything.
Right now it’s preseason and I’m hoping like the teams you’re just working out bugs but I’ll be sorely disappointed and severely annoying if this isn’t sorted by then.

New app is terrible
They have pushed out a new app, which has ruined the user experience. The list is long:
- can’t read box scores properly without a video in the way.
- streaming videos takes ages even on high speed internet, then trying to skip footage of scroll ahead completely knocks the whole thing out so it starts again.
- can’t turn off captions during games.
- new stories features are awful, I want videos of the game not social media stories
- spoiler alert was a great feature, but today there’s a huge banner on the homepage saying who won the game I wanted to see and the key player! Ruined.
What was once such an incredible app for international fans is now a complete wreck. The UI, the layouts, the whole experience is appalling. Clearly this had no user testing before going live. So very disappointed, not worth the subscription fee.

New app removed access to content I pay for
With this new app from Microsoft I can’t access any of my League Pass content I paid for. The app asks for location settings, then even when granted says that it can’t determine my location to determine blackouts. Despite having a paid membership, trying to watch anything gives me an error and a prompt to subscribe. Completely useless currently, and I can’t watch the content I’ve paid for. So far support have been unable to help through email either. Zero stars.
Update: I’ve done all this and no difference. I’m signed in and says I have an active subscription, then refuses to allow me to watch any League Pass or NBA TV content.

Great app, just needs a few tweaks
As a someone from the Uk who has just discovered the thrill of NBA I have to say this app is great. It’s fantastic for information on players, teams etc. As I like to watch the games when I can the hide scores feature is also fantastic as well.
The app has a lot of choice on how you want to watch the games that would suit anybody. My main grievance is a lack of picking up a match where I left off, or that feature being downright broken. It either doesn’t do it, or if it does do it, it’s at a seemingly random time. Making notes of where I got up to remedies it but I’d love to see the app handle this better In future.

Spoilers everywhere
So as a viewer from Europe, I decided to get NBA pass for when I can’t stay up late at night and want to catch up on what I missed the day after.
I’m not a fan of spoilers so once I purchased the pass I made sure to hide the scores. The problem the app has on all platforms is that when you load it up, there will be a picture of the game you want to watch spoiler free and in big writing you’ll have something like “Lakers beat the Warriors and head to the playoffs”
I don’t like the idea of having to cover my eyes when I launch the app and don’t think that’s something I should have to do. And if I continue to have moments like this, then I won’t be renewing my membership for very long as I can find other ways of watching the games.
I’m give the app 2 stars because it is great how it works, but the layout is dreadful and just needs a bit of thought out into it.

Whenever I disagree to all vendors when asked about cookies, which pops up every few times I use the app no matter how many times I give my input, the advanced stats for players stop loading and I can’t see anything there but a loading circle that never stops loading. Weird issue that needs fixing

Can’t rotate landscape
After the most recent update, getting tired of the NBA platform in general, couldn’t login to my account earlier in the month which took a week for support to resolve, tried to stream last night’s game on web browser, it hogs cpu/memory to a staggering amount, locks up the browser and fundamentally doesn’t stream (plays 1 second, buffers for 20 - just the nba site, other streaming platforms fine, 350mb fibre connection etc), switched to iPad to try there, can’t rotate the screen so it’s essentially upside down so I can’t prop the iPad up to watch. The option to hide scores apparently isn’t synced across platforms (who knows why seems like pretty basic stuff), so after setting it twice in quick succession on the website and the iPad app, I’ve opened the iPhone app to have the game ruined anyway as the score is there front and center and the option to hides scores is of course disabled. Xbox app whilst recently updated was shocking for the longest time, development across the board just seems poor, constantly find myself frustrated just trying to fundamentally use the service I’m paying for (I don’t need surveys and fancy stats, I just want to watch the game and struggle to do that half the time lately) if I’m not wrestling with one ridiculous problem I’m finding another. Likely cancelling subscription.

I have a suggestion
The app is great in almost every way.
My suggestion is that when you click on a player to look at their player profile and stats, there should be the averages of the players last 10 games. This let’s us see if the if they player is performing better or worse recently in comparison to the rest of the year. Or maybe use graphs showing how the players stats have changed over the year.

Great new look but sometimes confusing
I love the new look of the app, it’s modern and sleek, very big step forward!
All the nba info, stats and videos you will ever need at your finger tip.
I only have one frustration: I cannot figure out how to download games to watch offline, it was very easy with the old version. Not sure if the functionality is still there, I wasn’t able to find it! If it’s there it’s well hidden!!

Really nice update
New interface is really nice! Was a massive pain to try and find news stories, and now they’re attached with the recent results on the main page. Really nice, next stop could be to put the biggest game or the person’s favourite team as that first game that home screen wheel of games. New UI is much better, colour scheme is nice. Don’t know how it runs on slower phones but really happy with this. Good revamp.
