Should be a useful aid but isn’t

I don’t really know the purpose of this app, it attempts to be a fun app to use when really what most people need is an application that supplies up to date useful information.

It does the weather which is good.

The things you really need to know like which lifts are open / closed, the lift opening and closing times

Which runs are open / closed

This information is available but it is not easy to navigate and find on the app.

The map is terrible navigation aid I would hate to have that as my only reference if caught in a white out!

Some notes to say which runs have the better snow would be a benefit. I just wonder how many users actually use the badge facility there will be data for that I am sure.

Sorry to say but the old paradaski app was way better and I used it a lot, think the old adage “if it ain’t broken don’t fix it” applies

Very good but can be annoying

Great concept and mostly good execution but I think it could be more clean and sometimes the GPS function has me off in different places to people who I’m with and doing low speeds whereas I’m sure I’m doing more! It would be good to have more of interaction with your friends such as races over the boarder cross areas etc. Overall a cool app though- nice job!

Refund from COVID prepaid lift passes be preferable to further releases of this app

Downloaded the app for ski trip but COVID intervened. Company dodged our organiser’s request for refunds and eventually offered only a token discount for a future pass and so I really can’t give a positive rating on the app’s merits as a result of the sour experience with the company. The French ski closures happened so late in the season that there really wasn’t much more than 3 weeks left of that season.

Almost useless

My main reason for using this app was for the map + gps, to see where I’m and how to get to my destination. The map is incredible slow to load or didn’t load at all when I tried to zoom in. Make the map downloadable like the Val d’Isère / Tignes app.

I like the news notifications that pops up on my screen. However, when I click the pop up, it takes me to the Yuge app and there is nothing??? Where do I find the news feed in the app???

Great potential - shame the app doesn’t work

The app has some really neat functions for analysing a day’s skiing, plus fun competitions with friends and badges to collect. Unfortunately the app doesn’t record consistently, and has a tendency to stop recording for no apparent reason. At the end of the day it can be very frustrating to open the app and see that only thirty minutes of the last six hours have actually been recorded.

The app also crashes a lot, and the QR code scanner doesn’t work.

Used Yuge since December. Tracking is very poor and it’s almost useless at providing directions. So back to the paper map!

I like the webcams and the weather and the lift info but this is all basic stuff, expected much more!

Useless

An utterly useless app that tells you very little that you need to know. If you want a quick view of which lifts are open across the resort you cannot get it. You have to go into each area of the resort to get information and once there the list of pistes is completely incomprehensible.

Don’t rely on it to track you

Skied for 6 days, it only tracked 3. Very glad I wasn’t relying on it and had Ski Tracks running too which tracked all 6 days. A good start but needs serious work to improve it and make it reliable as right now it is far from that.

No stars this year

This app was frustrating enough last year, when an update released mid-season wiped out all records of the first half of my trip.

This year however, it does nothing. I have location services allowed “Always” for Yuge and yet it shows me starting at my apartment, when I start it recording, and ending at my apartment when I tell it to stop. It tells me that it was recording all those hours in between, but that I didn’t go anywhere. Basically, it’s a stopwatch.

This is not an improvement.

And why are the Navette timetables not held? They are printed on all the bus stops.

Key features don’t work

Not picking up the routes I’ve done though it has produced a satellite view of the route. Routing feature doesn’t work. Freezes for a few seconds after switching to the app, sometimes without recovering so I need to restart.

How do I know if the lifts are running?

A crucial question I’m sure many will agree. YUGE does not help. They used to have a section for each sector of the resort which set out which lifts were running and how busy they were. Seems to have gone. Intuitive? Rubbish !

Missed most things

Here are the problems:

1. Why doesn’t it link with ski a la carte lift passes

2. Why does it not register when I go on the Vanoise Express - used it at least 20 times this season

3. Despite switching it on it does not register most of my skiing - I compare it with navionics and other apps and it is way off the mark

4. It is so inaccurate it registers my speed when driving the car!!!

I was delighted to find out that according to ‘my stats’ to today I have been on 5 black runs, errr closer to none.

I have been using the app for most of the season and had over 45% of the paradise ski resort explored with 15 days of data that has all been whipped away I was 751 out of everyone using the app now I’m back at 1500 somthing my data has been wiped I. This previous update DO NOT UPDATE

Great Idea - Still Terrible

Used last year and gave the benefit of the doubt as a new app. Is a great idea but so unreliable it just disappoints.

All badges from previous year lost - if this is expected and you are expected to restart each year that's fine - how then are you supposed to get the first timer's badge again?

For example, 7am lifts not open yet and 5 people have already recorded 1/2 a day's worth of skiing.

App has recorded that I've been to the Aguille Rouge summit and skied down. It no badge for getting to the summit.

Spent 1 1/2 hours night skiing but no night owl badge.

What's the point in trying to have a bit of fun chasing these down and "competing" with friends/other users when it's so unreliable?

No Support

I’ve used this app before but I am unable to Login as my details aren’t recognised anymore. I’ve subsequently tried to Register again but I get the error message that my email address is already registered. I’ve tried changing the password but then get the error message my details aren’t recognised. I’m stuck in a permanent loop of being unable to register because my email is already registered, but being unable to login or change my password because my email isn’t registered. The website or the app offer no support options to help me resolve this either. Very frustrating and very poor.

Doesn’t show all photos

Some of the photos taken on the ski lift are missing, despite tapping my pass on the reader.

Contacted support twice, who promised to look into it, but no result.

Passes won’t link

Garbage - aside from the ludicrous tracking (139kph for me today) and the slow, pointless map, my entire family aren’t able to link their passes. Worked first time (though the QR reader didn’t work so we had to type the pass number in manually). Next time we go to use the app our passes are no longer linked and every time we try to link them again it says the pass is in use on another account. Shame as we have captured photos and videos from around Les Arcs using the YUGE photo points and we aren’t able to see them. I have dropped them an email but no reply as yet.

In many ways this App works quite well but it drastically overstates the distances covered. It would benefit from being able to download the map on which the track is shown and better use of screen real estate (too much little used white space!).

The app is just for fun

Three of us each had different speeds, altitudes, distances travelled (one had the highest speed and distance travelled when we know this wasn’t the case). It turned into a joke!

Well-made, but with crucial flaws

An intuitive app that would be useful but for two significant flaws. Firstly, the overhead map which underpins most functionality doesn't allow you to predownload the area, so all you get on a weak connection is blank tiles. Secondly, the actual tracking is very inconsistent between different phones, and thus presumably totally unreliable with respect to maximum speed and total distance. A real shame, because the app is solidly built and decent.

My girlfriend has more badges than me and that’s a lie! It gives people badges for things they haven’t actually done. She’s more attractive than me so that might be why but it’s still not fair.

Great potential, poor execution

This app ‘should be’ really fun and useful, but it is very hit-and-miss. Three of us spent the whole week together but we got a variety of different badges, a variety of top speeds and different runs travelled 😶 We planned routes to get badges but rarely did they credit - disappointing and not worth using instead of Ski Tracks. Unreliable app at this stage.

Not as food as others

I can follow my kids but my oh can’t. What is the point of having them as kids if we can’t both keep track of them? My oh and I ski different tracks as we’re different levels. Plus not easy to use, weather forecast is terrible. Much better apps for mountains in North America, and that’s going back 5 years ago (whistler, Colorado, mammoth etc).

Cannot find my friends. App turns tracking off randomly. I missed a load of badges I should have been awarded. But I tried very hard to make the App work, and I hope the glitches get fixed for next season.

Can’t get in

I set up an account. Get an email saying I’m a member, try logging in and it says I need to set up an account first with that email. Try setting up an account and again and it says I already have one. Done it with two email addresses and get the same result

Very buggy

Search for friends is very patchy, either returns too many people or zero people. The map requires internet to view which seems a bit stupid, cache it to the device in case we’re out of signal!

Truly awful map update!

The previous version of maps was wonderful, easy to plan routes, see which lifts and trails were open, find your nearest cafe etc. This topological map is awful. Its so difficult to use and you cannot plan ahead as it needs to recognise your location. I wish I hadn’t updated the map please change it back to what it was!!! Pleeeease!

VAST data usage

Finally able to log in and WHAM 300MB data used in about 30 minutes. Shortly followed by a Txt from carrier "you have used up your data allowance". I think it downloads the entire map each time you open it. GB and GB of data for what?

Went back to a paper piste map.

Its 2018 guys. And its better to use paper than your app. Think about it....

Really Really Bad

It's just riddled with bugs. The tracking doesn't work properly, also switches itself of at random. Half the badges never get given properly , and the bus times are wrong.

I have found this to be good, but where has the old piste map gone? It has been replaced by a topologically accurate map that I find to be considerably less easy to read than the old electronic version of the paper map.

Upgrade doesn’t work well

I used yuge last year. 8 weeks skiing. Badges have gone stats have gone. My child can’t load his pass on as I have him as a linked pass? Isn’t that the point? I have to say I am a bit disappointed with the upgrade
