Disappointment

This app description states that there is a Bulgarian language patch included in it, however, this information is misleading and therefore I have spent £14.99 for nothing! I urge the developer to correct this so no one else falls in this ambiguous trap.

Morning with this app !!?!!?!!

I have installed this app after careful reading the tutorial and all the information before purchasing it earlier today.

After a few minutes the app is on - great.?!? Only to find out to my surprise that the language that I need is not in the list to choose from! NOTE - it's listed as available on IOS APPStore.

I tried ever since to try to contact the developer and to ask for refund . No luck so far !

So I would suggest to all you others to use something else ..!

There are plenty out there I am sure you will find something better and with good customer service and after sale support!!

Awesome must buy

Great voices with an unlimited library space. I have been using this app for years to listen to books on the days when my dyslexia stops me and to continue while doing other things.

Not fit for purpose! It simply doesn't read naturally

I've spent a small fortune on this when actually I can hardly understand the pronunciation. The Natural Read app read the same PDF document immediately and with no problem whatsoever. Honestly a complete waste of my good money and I'm absolutely furious.

Excellent text to speech app

I have been using Voice Dream for nearly two years. I have lots of books in my iPad VD library that I listen to on Voice Dream. It works very well and I am very happy with it. I also have the other apps by the same developer: Writer and Mail.

Easily the best text-to-speech app on IOS.

If you buy a couple of the better IAP voices, such as those from Acapela, this is about as close to human speech as commercial text-to-speech can get.

Support is also speedy and efficient. These are people who care about their customers. Highly recommended.

Absolutely incredible

As a totally blind avid book reader, I have been a long time user of both laptops and desktops. It is not very convenient to carry a laptop everywhere you go, especially if you’re on a nice sandy beach. This app makes it possible for me to read books where ever I am and four hours at a time. I would not be without it it is a truly incredible app and I can now take a huge collection of books in my pocket where ever I go. It is easy to navigate and has a wealth of different voices for you to find the one that suits you best.

I’ve tried them all, get this one

TL;DR — I’ve tried them all, get this one.

I love reading the news but don’t have enough time to read all the big scoops and long-form articles I’ve saved on Pocket.

Now with a few clicks I can have all those stories read to me like an on demand ebook while I do laundry or run errands or just hangout with my dog. It’s ***** awesome.

Text to speech/natural language processor technology is getting crazy. The developers of this app 100% deserve the fee for this app. Best £ I’ve ever spent in the app store.

And I’ve tried all similar apps in this category, none come close to this.

P.S. My favorite voice option is the woman with the Australian accent. It’s an extra pound or two but again, zero regrets. Best cost to value ratio on something I’ve purchase in years.

Am using it for a big 100page document... sadly no bookmarks have been retained from the original. Such a shame it would make a world of difference to have these.

The apps OK but why is it almost double the price on apple’s App Store? Compared to on google play’s store. Same goes for some books on iTunes.

I can see myself using this often at night and on my way to work for my studies. I simply opened my pdf textbook using this app and it is read to me in an easy to the ear voice.

The best reading tool for the visually impaired that I own!

I never stop using this app. It reads aloud almost any text format I can throw at it. I even use it for reading my talking books from the arrnib. You can organise read and navigate magazines books and many different types of publication. I carry the reading materials for my degree course where ever I go. It is written for the visually in paired in mind, but can be used by anybody who likes to read on the go. The developer is very responsive, you don't have to wait weeks for some temp late reply. If the app could more easily capture text by paragraph section or chapter of a publication and export it to another file it would be the perfect tool.

BEST APP EVER

I'm not using my phone for much, only ever bought 2 apps and I regretted one of them and it sure wasn't this. I use voicedream reader daily, linked with pocket to read long articles, long emails and books. I got literally addicted to the fast information flow and remember listening to war and peace on 700wpm when I got this app- I did not understand much but I loved it because I knew with training I would be able, still haven't worked up to 700 but I'm extremely confident in the 500s and my n-back sore drastically improved, don't know if correlated tho' anyways I love this app, I'm forever thankful for the developer

Excellent app

VoiceDream is an excellent app which is accessible for a wide range of users. Being able to customise the display means you can optimise it for following the text on a small screen. The same features mean that it can be very useful for officially impaired user as it's possible to watch rolling text in a large font. The voices available are excellent. It's nice to be able to get a Scottish voice.

This app singlehandedly changed the way I read books

I cannot recommend this app highly enough — I now read ALL of my ebooks through this app, I'm flying through about 2/3 books a week, instead of the measly 1 book every couple of months before I got this app.

It is the ultimate method to download your ebook library onto your brain. For that functionality, the price of the app is a bargain 😊💙

Nice core tech but ridiculously hard to use

I thought it would be useful for reading web content, but it's far too fiddly: I'd give it more stars if it could simply read the essence of a web page. Consider WebOutLoud for an attempt to get this right. I'll be returning this.

Also it doesn't read headings properly: if a line ends with a return char but no full stop it should be considered end of sentence anyway. Same for bullet points.

This app is an absolute must for writers. It reads my manuscripts back to me, so I'm able to spot the mistakes I wouldn't see onscreen or on paper. It's the best app I own - hands down!

Amazing

That's the most comprehensive voice reading app I ever used. The voice is not robotic and most of the times it understands the semantics of the sentences, which really helps to follow the narrative. That's some work left to be done on the interface, but still, wow, that's impressive! Deserved 5 stars

Non-existent support

I would have deleted a star in any case because, although easier to operate, this app is no better than the built-in iPad VoiceOver. However, the main disappointment is the lack of support for quite an expensive app. I was attempting to use a digital version of a book. It clearly wasn't working so I emailed for help. All I got was a notice saying to the effect that he was a very busy man with a wife and children and didn't have time to offer support. I worked for two days with publishers in the USA and UK and we worked out that the digital book has to be structured differently for voice readability. We never got it working and wasted a great deal of time in the process. Weeks later I got an email suggesting the text I had was scanned. It wasn't but I had sorted all that out before I contacted support.I have a great many apps, I occasionally require a quick word of advice. I have never been treated this way before. The app is no use for my purposes.

Fantastic Update

This was already a brilliant app but it's now even better. I use it everyday to read and have bought loads of voices. Now I can use Cloud Sync to move between devices. My already purchased voices sound even better and there's just too many great features to mention. Love it!

My go-to app for reading Daisy and other formats. While cloud synching could be improved, this is a new feature and should be given time. Giving this app a 1-star review is not the right way to encourage the app developer, particularly given the effort put into this update.

Great App

I recently had a a problem with the version 4 update but on contacting support was shown the steps to resolve it. This is a wonderful App. I use it on a daily basis. I am able to listen to any text in electronic format on my iPod, thus stimulating my mind whilst sometimes perfoming the most mundane of tasks. My daughter has found it a very helpful tool in studying for her GCSEs. There is also a choice of voices, English, American, South African etc accents, whatever you prefer.

I would recommend this App to anyone.

Great update

A complete overhaul of what was already by far the best text to speech app out there. The update now affords greater flexibility over the interface and additional features such as cloud syncing and multitasking support. It is remarkable that the developer has chosen to release this as a free update and the developer has been committed to continually improving the app.

You done messed it up!

Oh dear. Don't like this one bit. The sexy new interface might grow on me in time but right now as a long term user of this app I'm hopelessly lost. At the time of writing your website seems to be showing the old manual. I have been trying to simply have the app read a web site and haven't a clue how to do it. Why do people need to mess with perfectly good apps? Sadly, and I don't know how this is even possible, but the voices actually sound more robotic now. What a shame

With this update the developer has transformed a great app into an absolutely brilliant one! iCloud sync works seamlessly and removes my anxieties about inadvertently losing my precious large library. The look and feel of the app is smoother and efficient. Hats off!

Worth Every Penny And More

On iOS this app works amazing. In fact I got an iOS device just for this and voice dream writer. The connection to Pocket and Google Drive enable me to read blogs, articles, ebooks and reports in half the time AND take notes in Google Keep. I am wildly dyslexic and over the few years I have been using these apps I have significantly increased my written output, accuracy and level of reading. This has had a positive impact on both my income and, even better my self confidence and creativity. Thanks Winston :-)
