Should be a part of iOS
Quite simply the best file manager for iOS.
The sync feature is incomparable. Nothing comes close to it
This app manages files better than any other app I’ve seen on iOS and manages files better than Windows Explorer on Windows.

Just been updated on my Apple TV and now when I press skip forward on the remote it goes backwards same as pressing back on the remote. Did anyone actually test this release before it went live??? It was working as expected on the previous versions…

Ransomware
Used the app for a SMB share and got a ransomware attack the same day. Unfortunately after this I cannot trust the application as no files were transferred I was only testing out its functionality. The attack crippled my OS and I’ve had to wipe a 12tb NAS

Suggestion: rename when sharing
When using Share to save a file from an app to a location in Owlfiles, it would be really helpful to be able to rename it as you do it. As it stands, you have to accept what the app calls it, and then switch to owlfiles or even a different computer, locate the file and then rename it, which is very tedious.

Duplicate
This is a review of my review. It is now a 5* as it is now exactly what I want. My question to you is this….why when I add a file to FE File Explorer Pro does it automatically duplicate to Owlfiles. I love them both but cannot delete files without deleting from the other but both apps are what I need so I would recommend them both but not sure on the same iPad until I get an answer. Maybe it’s my settings can you please advise

Better than IOS offering
I downloaded this app for my home NAS.
The reasons I rate this app are:
* photos are visible in the thumbnail compared to simple app icons.
* the widget allows you to favourite specific files quick access.
* allows you to delete file from the app which IOS file app only seems to let you “view” files.
I don’t have a my negatives so far.

A superb, very responsive, file manager.
I’ve only been using this a short while but find it very intuitive and so fast. I love that I can easily view and share from my iPhone - at full resolution - photos stored on my NAS. It’d be great if the built in photo viewer cou automatically sort photos by subject matter (birds, landscapes, people etc) but I appreciate that that would be asking a lot! A terrific app.

The app respects your privacy
This app runs more reliable and showing picture thumbnails than the ios files app when connecting to my nas. Also this app doesn't get your personal data, except your identity only. It is far better than other apps

Cures SMB incompatibility

Handles MKV like a pro
This file manager is excellent. Handles MKV video files and acts as a very efficient network streamer. Especially useful on Apple TV!

This is a great file explorer just like FE File explorer Pro.
There are a few extra features but it is very similar.
I dont know why it is so much more expensive than FE File Explorer Pro. Shame I might have bought the Pro version.

Good app - too expensive
This developer makes excellent well featured file manager and player apps - this is no exception. I like it and the new look. Work very well connecting to my NAS.
I like some of the new tools, network tools and scanner.
However I am not going to pay a monthly fee for a file manager, even with the extra tools. If it was a one off payment in line with the developer's other apps - I would have upgraded and paid up.

Good app, but can become better
I've used this to transfer files to my local FTP server and it was working as expected.. up until the new L&F and name change. A few things I've found recently, mostly useful for the devs:
- FTP transfer speeds are wrong. I can see photos or videos copying quickly, yet the reported transfer rate is under 1KBps
- Low impact: my target drive had become full, yet the copying stopped with no error (this was an FTP upload operation). Can we report the appropriate error when this happens?
- Enhancement request: I always copy files from a cetain date in the past to the most recent one (sorted alphabetically). To select the files I want, I nees to select the first one and keep swiping my finger left and right at the bottom of the screen so the viewport scrolls and files are selected. Needless to say this is quite tedious when dealing with lots of files. Could we add a feature allowing users to pick the first file and the last file, and select everything in between? "Right-click, select to here"-kind-of-thing?

Very helpful app
I got a WD MYCLOUD which just stopped the remote access on the app , so I needed an app to connect to my drive and this is simple and works flawlessly, it’s good as I can access the films on the drive and airplay them from my iPad to my Apple TV no problem, a lot cheaper than upgrading the WD MYCLOUD drive which they recommend me doing which is a con. I will probably upgrade to the pro version in the future as it can play multiple video formats , but for the time it’s been a life saver, highly recommend.

First impressions: Best App for viewing NAS photos
I’ve got millions of photos on a NAS. When using Files, or the manufacturer-supplied App for viewing photos on there from my iPad is just painfully slow.
Using this File Manager suddenly makes the experience easy. It’s easy to find the NAS shares, sort the folders in multiple ways, and then switch between a list and a gallery, but the key factor is that thumbnail generation is really quick, and it doesn’t seem to paralyse performance on the iPad whilst doing it.
There’s a “pro” mode you can upgrade to, but the Free version seems to have everything that you absolutely need and it’s not too naggy about upgrading, like many other apps.

Good features, seems reliable
This provides a great way to save photos etc from my phone directly onto the USB storage built into my home internet router (a FritzBox ), from where we can access them from other laptops etc.
To do the file transfer is not as intuitive as it could be: e.g rather than using the usual iOS ‘Share/Forward’ icon when viewing a photo, you have to go into the FE app, look in the Browse area and choose the ‘Edit’ option.
Please note that the free version only permits access to one network share, but that is fine for many people’s needs:)

Fills an Apple Gap that needs Filling
I’m going to give this 5* for the free a app, although it’s a little unstable, since it does a nice job of allowing me to transfer photos in bulk to my NAS, prune, maintain these photos, rather than the clunky Synology DS file.

Useful application, but not particularly intuitive
As a way to link to files on another computer on the network, it is very useful. Setting up was a bit difficult and once you have done so, it is quite klunky. Being limited to only one other computer is also limiting.

I do like this app however noticed when I try to add more than one network location (in my internal network) it asks me to buy the pro version of the app. This is something not mentioned in the description. Real shame as I now have to look for an alternative

Paid for this now it’s poor
I paid for the upgraded version to this around a year or so ago. Now since update watching a hd video (which worked fine before) is now like watching a poor quality VHS video. Awful waste of money.

Beware volume issues
I like the app in itself but when I had it installed I found myself repeatedly having to reboot my phone (x and 7) as I had lost all media / alert volumes. Since uninstalling I haven’t had any volume issues at all...

Fantastic!
We store our downloaded video files to a Netgear ReadyNAS on an SMB share. This app allows me to browse and watch downloaded films on my iPad over the wifi from my NAS. Probably the best fiver I have spent on an app.

Really useful
We use File Explorer to find documents prepared on pcs and saved on network drives when we are using our ipads. It is extremely useful and works much faster than it used to.

Great for accessing external drives
Really annoying having an iPhone which the salespeople at O2 could my help me with. Found this app recommended after Googling a few times and it totally works. Also above, it is great for accessing our external hard drive so that we can drag and drop music files and pictures instead of going through the laptop, opening iTunes, making a playlist, syncing the phone and waiting a million years for music to transfer.
I am not a huge fan of iCloud usage and don’t want to buy storage all the time and keep all my albums that way so this is perfect for keeping a few albums I can easily change through our WiFi.

Downloading files from SMB share to device seems to be broken “download left in pending state”.
Also it would be nice to be able to copy files from network shares straight into iCloud Drive.

This is a genuinely good app for a CS student (requires payment for multiple servers), but for me it’s perfect and free! - although I’d be *ok* with paying a small amount for these great services it’s so good!

I needed an app to retrieve files and play music from my NAS (network attached storage).
This seems to work great! Just what I needed.
Tried quite a few apps but none of them could see the NAS.

Good but
I used to find this app perfect for viewing my PCs files and other Nas uses however I now can't get it to play MP4 format which all of my videos are in since MP4 is supposed to be universal, not sure if the app no longer allows MP4 or if Ive changed something, devs?
