Poor App - disgusted

Once again an iOS App has failed miserably. Working perfectly well one day - albeit with a few idiosyncrasies. Then next day, after a so called ‘update’ doesn’t work at all.

I didn’t realise that ‘update’ means ‘wreck’, ‘don’t bother to prove the work update’ ‘let the long standing paying customer do the dirty work for you’- probably use all their data and documents, loose faith in it completely.

MS Word is a Goliath - but at least it WORKS

So far so good

Not bad compares to Docs to Go but...you get random capital letters in words you are typing. No spell checker and most irritating no auto full stop when ending a sentence even when pressing the space bar twice like normal. Also could do with tighter integration with OneDrive or SkyDrive as it was known by. Please check these bits out as they spoil a good app but am pleased that the app links to my home server via WebDAV.

So many good features but not quite there

This App could be one of the best Office Suites available but is let down by a few problems.

There seems to be a bug which I don't think many users suffer from but I do, in that copy and paste don't work in the spreadsheets so you can't copy formulas. I reported this to the authors some time ago and they did fix it in the next release. However, in the latest version the bug is back yet again and now they say the can't fix it! Come on guys.......!

When scrolling text in documents on my iPad Air 2, the text blurs before coming back into focus when scrolling stops. Makes your eyes go funny after a while.

You have to turn on the spelling checker manually for each document there is no default setting. Although the spelling checker does underline errors it does not make any suggestions for the correct spelling unless you have Predictive text turned on. When it does identify an incorrectly spelt word and suggests the correct spelling, when you tap on the Predictive bar it corrects the spelling but puts an extra space in after the corrected word which you then have to delete. Or it corrects the word in the middle leaving two or three characters you then have to delete.

The App does not support iOS9 keyboard cursor control on my Air.

There is support for cloud services but not iCloud. The authors offer a sync cloud service so you can sync between devices but it costs money.

All in all just not quite there which is a great shame. There are so many excellent features if they could just sort out the blurring text when scrolling, the spelling checker and the cut copy and paste it would easily score at least 4 stars.

Cut and paste will probably work for most users and if you can put up with blurred text and an irritating spelling checker then it is probably worth the money.

Can't open Excel files from Dropbox

When I try to open an excel file I get an error message saying that the file will not open. I have tried to reinstall but still no joy.

Good app

Easy, efective and convenience.

But the app should update the reflow function for the 'page width' when reading in iphone. The text shouldn't run but stay fit with the screen.

Good App

This app has a lot of excellent features. I use the slide program a lot and found features few apps have such as multi-select text boxes, the facility to set text boxes to an exact size and on documents and spreadsheet, hyperlinks. There are lots more helpful features but the app isn't perfect, (none are) but the support is very helpful and have done every thing they could to fix things. ELISA was assigned to my case and was excellent. It is because of the level of support I've given it 5 stars.

Pretty good app, does appear to miss some of the expected features e.g the ability to select blocks of text when in edit mode. But with a bit of work it will get there I think.

Excellent product but....

This is an excellent product packed with useful features. It has one massive shortcoming especially for small screen devices - no spellchecker! This is more desirable on phones and tablets when creating a formal document. Nevertheless it is well designed and created and had to be commended.

Stopped working following recent iOS upgrade

Very important info stored and can't access since upgrade. It WAS a brilliant app but will not be happy if not fixed soon as I will have to start over - and will be finding another spreadsheet app that works.

I always loved the app which is why I paid for the upgrade. I had important work documents saved on it.

It's totally dead now and won't open on my iPhone or my personal or work iPad.

Help! Can't open Polaris Office 5 since updating to IOS9.

I used this app for a long time, and was impressed. A few months ago they did something that meant it stored the passwords of protected files) - bad news! They fixed that, but then a month or so ago it stopped working altogether.

There was no response to requests for a fix, so I have now deleted it and will be applying for a refund.

Update Sept 2015:

Still not working, and a colleague reports that his copy has stopped working after iOS9.

No response to my request for a refund.

Brilliant app

This app has everything you need to regularly work with docs, presentations and spread sheets. It has the basic functions as you would use with Microsoft Office.

It has the 3 packages and you can used it in your iPhone and iPad not like other apps.

The compatibility with Office is good and the Doc has some functions that others do not (search and replace & footnotes) also you can use Dropbox.

Excellent on iPhone 4S but not good on the 6 Plus.

Updated review as on the 6+ the fonts look fuzzy and not clear even zooming. Is there an update pending to address resolution?

Great but no spell checker!

This is an impressive suite. Would have been 5 stars but for no spell checker in the word processor (go figure?!), and a fiddly interface to edit font styles, colours etc. needs a ribbon style interface to put all the most used features easily at hand.

What a fantastic programme App, thanks to Polaris I have all my documents at hand when I need them, which is really important as I Am a Power Assurance Engineer and carry out regular inspections of Substation Equipment.

Useful but having a few problems.

The app is a useful idea and this version of Polaris is presented very nicely with a good range of fonts etc. However, I have experienced some problems with the app that I hope upgrading to iOS 8 will solve.

Not so good

Recent updates have not helped the overall rating which used to be quite good. If you export to MS Word the formatting is terrible and words are cut at end of sentence without text flow. Only way to solve this is to strip out formatting which is a pain if you wanted to keep the format.

Is making me feel dizzy

Every time I have to edit I have rotate my iPhone from landscape to portrait, it was a better with the older version. At least on the older version you could edit in landscape.

Keeps Crashing

Had this app for a while and after the latest two updates it now crashes during the typing, causing me to lose my work. As Ive already paid for this I am determined to use it but have to keep saving during so I don't lost my work.

I am working on an Ipad latest version.

Also spell check would be helpful.

I purchased the polaris office app to use on my iPad for word processing documents via Dropbox. It does allow you to open , edit and save files via Dropbox, but when it saves them the whole document gets corrupted with the text wrapping over line breaks. The only way to resolve it is to reformat the whole document when you are back on your computer. It also puts annoying capital letters in the middle of words if you ever have to use a delete button or do anything other than type without stopping.

I am therefore still looking for a decent document manager. Very disappointing.

Just updated to version 5, couldn't find how to access cloud services like Dropbox to start but after some searching all you have to do when in the main screen is to slid your thumb left to right to open a hidden menu. Genius!!

Incredibly Poor App

Only bought this app due to the instability of 'Numbers' after the last update. There was me thinking that from the descriptions and the cost that it'd be worth having, what a mistake and waste of £8.99 that was. My main use was for the spreadsheet and this is where my judgement comes from. The overall feeling from the app in use is one of unfinished, rather useless and hard to use. It's main failing is that when needing to input numbers the keyboard doesn't automatically change to a numbered format so you're always having to use the standard keyboard layout which just isn't good enough. Then you faced with the lack of availability to record duration within the time frame options. This should be a standard that all spreadsheets have. I can't comment on the word processor side as I haven't bothered using at due to the absolute uselessness of the spreadsheet. Extremely disappointed doesn't come close and I would not recommend anyone wasting their money on it.

I've no doubt that the government will buy the app for their usage as it's useless, inadequate and doesn't do the job, it matches them perfectly ;-)

This app does not support dropbox or cloud services. You cannot open a file in Polaris office, stability is very poor (too many bugs), interface is poor too. Dont be deceived by the name or the icon. This is a very poorly built app. Waste of money. Straight in the bin.

Finally the App I've been waiting for has arrived. FYI ppl U CAN UPLOAD!!! Coz I've done it on, Dropbox, skydrive, and box.net. For 69 pence sooo worth it.

Deceitful advertising

This app says it has Dropbox and Google Drive integration. IT DOES NOT. There is no way to save documents to the cloud services. You have to email the document to yourself to keep a safe copy.

Needs an input tool

It is actually quite good. File transfers across to excel seamlessly. Needs some onscreen input method for cell entry. Entries can be made using the top line, but how much more ergonomic would this be if you had a keyboard with directional keys to allow movement between the cells.

This would earn it five stars.
