Go back to the old style

The app crashes, the interface looks as if it has gone back in date! Can’t even load projects that have been done previously before. The joystick is the wrong position - if you are adding in objects etc you will need to close the pop up to move around. Not much new objects added in. As a fan of the app it is disappointing to see what has now happened to the app. What is needed is more objects such as cars etc.

Crashing

After paying for the Home Design 3D gold, then paid to upgrade to unlock unlimited floors it keeps crashing. Roofs in particular but also my old projects.

Loads of bugs since update

Since the major update there’s so many bugs. Mainly around trying to housekeep old project files. I think the common link is I’m on iCloud but I’m not sure. Bugs include - can’t delete projects as they reappear again, crashes constantly when deleting multiple projects, trying to drag drop into folders the thumbnail is different to the dragged project ie it’s getting confused what I’m selecting. The new layouts aren’t totally obvious of what’s where if you’re used to the old GUI. Marking this as 1* so these bugs get seen. Been using this for years before now.

Almost 5 stars, almost.

I’ve been using this application to design a courtyard in Beijing and am extremely happy with how intuitive the product is, especially with the choice of materials and furniture. The ability in real time to see your designs come to life, change the daytime and seasonal light, really makes the whole process incredibly smooth and proactive. If your looking for an app that will bring your ideas closer to life, then I can heartily recommend it.

However, it certainly has some weaknesses that couldn’t allow me to give it 5 stars.

Firstly, the ability to see measurements of structures, windows, furniture etc in topographic 2D is excellent, but it falls apart when there are no measurements visible in 3D or there is no way to measure the height of construction adjustment you make in a 2D side view. What a missed opportunity and means you are forever ‘winging it’ with visual estimations regarding the height of nearly all objects.

Secondly, and extremely importantly, you can’t share information in CAD format. This is incredibly short sighted by the designers, as all builders, factories and architects will need this content. I’d be happy to pay as an additional option and or be able to send measurements in a third party file format CAD can utilise. As it stands, recipients must have the same software to see in 3D or you can only send a topographical 2D print with measurements, either option still does not solve the issue that multiple downline industries will need comprehension 3D measurements in CAD.

Thirdly, despite purchasing every addition possible, the choice of garden shrubs, trees etc is extremely lacklustre to say the least. When needing to design circular, elliptical or smooth shaped land or paths the option is simply NOT available. Adding this as an option is extremely necessary, along with many more choices for greenery. Again, all resolvable with designers making a little more effort rewarded with a paywall addition.

Fourthly and finally, the support team couldn’t really answer any of these issues with anything close to a competent reply, but hey, at this price point, the app is well worth your time if you’re not wanting to translate your ideas into real world results. If you are however, the app needs to adapt or I suggest you think twice.

I love this app so much , I had the free version for a while before but it really frustrated me because there were so many great objects that I couldn’t access and I couldn’t save.

But on the gold version you have complete access to everything and can save, there are also lots more awesomely set up homes to check out!

Great game but one suggestion

I love this game. Me and my sister love making exciting builds and looking at other people’s projects to see what the community is doing. I have had the game for nearly two years now and last year I purchased home design gold after I realised how good a game it was. It really helps with interior design/architecture skills that can help a lot in the future. All of this is why I give the game 5 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My suggestion is that you make a function so if friends or family have the game, you can send your projects to them so they can look around. I also think It would be a nice idea to make a function where you can share projects with one friend or family member (links in with my other suggestion) and then they have full access to the project and you can both build in the same plot if you’re both working on something together.

This is something me and my sister have been talking about for a while and we think it would be a great update to the game.

This would help us a lot as most of the year my sister is at university so then we can create projects, but be long distance.

Can’t parse project

Be very wary of using the iOS app if you are creating your designs on the Mac/PC versions. After a recent iOS app update and viewing my project on the app and saving back an update I am now unable to open the project on my Mac and get a ‘Can’t parse project’ error. Support tell me that this is due to the software versions being out of sync and I have to just wait until the Mac version catches up… with no indication of how long this could be.

A word of warning before people update…

I’ve been a user of Home Design 3D for many years, and was incredibly excited to hear they were working on a feature that allowed designers to implement roofs onto their projects. However, having been using the app prior to the update that allowed users to have multiple floors, I knew that big updates caused problems for existing projects. Hence, when this update came, I updated it on my iPhone first to see how it effected my current projects before updating it on my iPad. Initially, I found there to be a couple of things that required me to alter my projects, but nothing major. Until, that is, I attempted to open my largest and most involved design - which it simply would not open no matter what I did. Had I gone straight ahead and updated the app on my iPad, I would’ve lost this project completely - which took me the best part of a year to create. I don’t know why this has to be the case, but if anybody reading this has an incredibly detailed and extensive project, you might want to be cautious prior to committing to this otherwise exciting update. I do hope however that these issues can be resolved by the home design team in the future.

Much harder and awkward to use.

The default height / placing of objects has gone, the altitude changes have spoiled so many projects, the app crashes when opening projects, very poor update. Disappointed and was most definitely better before.

I have had the cheaper version of this app for ages and love it, so though buying this upgraded version would be out of this world....wrong!

You can’t add roofs, additional decoration, etc. Yes the furniture and architectural stuff is lovely, but that’s it.

Please don’t waste £8.99 like I did, I’m back to my good old home design 3D cheaper version.

Really accessible

I’m using this app to build my current home to then experiment with remodelling. So far it’s working really well. Missing features include roof spec to do loft conversions and elevations for property on slopes. But if you want or need to build models of buildings and content this is best I’ve found so far.

Home Design 3d Gold is a very good app. It is definitely worth getting the gold version as it is so much better than the normal one.

The choice of interior and exterior furniture could be broader, especially for outside. It would be good to add more swimming pools, plants and playground equipment, as well as more beds, TVs and cars.

Overall though, really good game.

Fantastic app

I bought this to help prepare for a real-life house move. Never used this kind of app before but it was really easy to get started and I soon had a virtual home ready to play with! Little personalisation touches like using photos of our own pictures help to make it feel uncannily realistic, despite the fact that the house has no roof!

If you want an easy to use floor-planning app that switches effortlessly between 2D and 3D, with both aerial and visit perspectives, this would be my strong recommendation. It’s not an architect’s tool - you can’t add features such as a roof or porches, but it doesn’t set out to design buildings: it’s a layout planner.

For the price it’s incredibly powerful, and most impressive of all it has never crashed. It does eat up battery but that’s not surprising when you think about how much processing the 3D rendering must take. And although it is available on iPhone I’d recommend the larger iPad screen every time.

It’s not perfect - the range of objects is limited and very US-oriented (note to developers - lots more stuff please!) and although there are lots of video tutorials there are many features that don’t seem to be documented - you have to play with them to figure out how they work.

A general introduction explaining the principles would be especially helpful, explaining for example that you must explicitly create a room using the ‘room’ tool - building four separate walls does not make a room! Inserting an odd shaped hallway was an especially interesting exercise....But once you get the hang of it, it’s endless fun and for me it has served a real practical purpose in making a painful downsize easier to manage by figuring out what will fit where, and persuading my wife what will and won’t work.

Great app for getting ideas and seeing how things will look visually rather then imagining.

It can be frustrating at times when the walls won’t do what you what. Could also benefit with being able to extend/minimise things once placed. Eg, window or door placed in a wall, should have an option to make smaller or bigger to fit better. More modern furniture would be a good add too 👌🏼

Bought the latest iPad and Apple Pencil so I was excited and thought it be great to buy home designing app to release the design in me, so I feel disappointed as it’s quite disappointed with this app is Limited and it’s not as good as promo video suggested, I am struggling with the upper floors and The levels ie: walls on walls to make more levels, and I have not got that far yet to make roofs as that function is not on this one. Also They want you to pay more money to have more Advance program, also if you do a like on f.b you get more unlock objects In this design, I know I only payed £12 but I do Believe you should get more for your money.

Love this app I’ve been playing around with it for years. However I feel it’s in desperate need of updating from everything to floor tiles, paint colours, wallpapers to all furniture. Amazing but

It’s an amazing app that I have loved for years. At times it is mildly annoying and glitchy but in comparison to other home design apps and software that doesn’t require subscription it is cream of the crop. The only problem that I’m not even sure would count as a solid problem is that there isn’t much stuff. Like there’s a lot in general but I feel that we need more of certain types of items and less of others. Ie there’s hundreds of cabinets but barely any doors or TVs. Also a lot of the objects are combines ie a desk with ornaments on it . They do have non combined versions but done have the corresponding ornaments available individually which can be annoying when you want to mix and match and go more in detail but if you’re just playing around or want a rough idea of what you want then this is the perfect app. Seriously I have gotten hours of enjoyment out of creating random houses in this. If you’re on the fence about buying this app but it. It’s flipping amazing.

Usable &Useful

Had this app for quite some time. Watched useability steadily improve. Good that developers pro-actively grow the app.

Also like the improvement that gives much better control when editing size, position & alignment of walls and architectural fittings.

Would give 5 stars if they were to add latest home-office furniture & hardware such as elevated (stand-to-work-at) desks able to accommodate multiple monitors.

A big plus would be a fix that would let users to take pics of their existing art/paintings/photos as well as decoration and furnishings. Those could then be “abstracted”, resized and stored in users’ libraries with existing library of objects & furniture. Imaginative mods like that would add interest & value.

Sort the price please

I love this app but the price for the gold plus is awful. I have already purchased the gold package, I have had it for a while. So the fact that I would have to pay £8.99 for 1 extra feature is ridiculous, I’m not saying it should be free but for people who have already bought the gold membership should only have to pay a maximum of £3.00.

Overall pleased

It’s straight forward to use, had issues bringing in a block plan where the scale wouldn’t validate, other than that really easy to pick up the hang of things. £8.99 should include extra items than just extra floors, better yet an ability to import or customise your own designs for objects such as doors, arches etc.

My biggest gripe is with the way stairs are included is a bit clunky. It needs more configuration options so that you can visualise how floors link together. Well that and my other issue is not being able to lock an underlying drawing imaged used for reference and the snapping of walls sub 20cm when snapping is disabled.

This is a comprehensive package, that allows much creativity without being overly complex.

When you take a moment to think about what you can do, then suddenly the interface doesn't look too bad. Most items are laid out logically and there is enough content in the program to keep it fresh.

Perhaps the best of the lot

I've tried other home design apps, but this is by far the easiest to use. Great range of objects, though I would like to see more categories (i.e. the ability to have individual lighting). Being able to add roofs would be good, but the objects allow some interesting ideas. Worth the purchase, but has more potential to offer with some updates.

Barely sims level of graphics

Good to get an idea of the spaces in the house. The visit 3D option works well on the ground floor but when you go up stairs seems to sink everything in a pool of concrete also at bringing the floor up. No problem with the 3D aerial option. Also randomly will shade walls grey and will not allow change in colour. Has moments of getting stuck.

Rip off

Absolutely scandalous that I have paid £12 for the iOS version yet this does not give me access on the Mac. This would incur a further £5 cost. Surely there can be some form of code/voucher applied which gives access across both platforms for the one cost? Alternatively lower the cost of both compatible versions to £5 each. At that price I would be willing to stump up for both!

Good and bad....

The ability to build the rooms is good but the selection of items to furnish your creation is so poor making the end result pretty pointless. Why not introduce real Ikea items for example. The kitchen selection is a joke. Seriously.

Also some of the functionality is hit and miss. Trying to get the floor changed in one of my rooms for example just doesn’t seem to work. I can put parquet flooring on the walls apparently, but not on the floor!

For £11 I expected a whole lot more :(

Flexible design app

There are many pros to the this app - being able to set measurements and design 3D interiors. There are also some limitations that would make it even better, including being able to have multiple stories and rounded rooms (currently you can only have square, rectangular and triangular shaped rooms). Getting better all the time

I’ve owned this app for years. It’s not updated too often but when it is, the updates are big. Having multiple floors is a great addition and will be a big thing for most people. Also now being able to back up to Dropbox is really helpful. Wish I’d kept a plan of my original house as I now need to re-measure, having reinstalled. Being able to order a 3D print of my house looks like it would be great fun, but there’s a lot of work to do tinkering with getting the house right first.

Annoyed... but still good

I previously bought the normal home design on another device and upgraded to gold so when I bought this I assumed that it would have the Same privileges. They have not upgraded this to the same level as the other as there is not as many objects! Textures, doors, joineries and you do not have the ability to create a multi storey building unlike the upgraded

Apart from this I must say that this is a very well programmed app and is easy to understand and use. The textures and objects are very detailed and you are given the opportunities to not only effectively decorate the house, but you are also able to build and colour a range of products in the game.

Amazing

Very good for designing houses and all that stuff. I love this app and it’s worth every penny.

However many (including me) have requested multi story houses. I know that you are working on it but I have a project due in soon and need it by then.

Great App !

This app is definitely worth the money. It’s very simple to use and could really help with real life designs. All you need to do is drag the item you are choosing and put it in the place you want it to be, very addictive. I’ve been looking for a design app that I can do all this and I finally have, can’t wait to do more designs with this app in the future💓

Home Gold....

I’m kinda taken by this app, it’s making me feel all designer-y and what have you!

Trouble is I can’t draw so I might not be able to make a career out of it... but ah well, I’m still going to enjoy this!

Works well! Excellent.

Really happy with this app! Very happy that I did. I created a 3D model of my house as it is now and added my planned extension. Really happy with the way I could explore the new place in 3D. It even syncs the designs on my iPad with my Mac. I really can’t understand the low stars and negative comments here. It works well for me!

Great but one improvement needs to be made

Amazing app you can design your house (only downstairs) & it’s good quality. However, you could improve it by allowing to design an upstairs & it actually look like a house & so you can’t see the inside of the house from outside

Decorating

Great app. Very good at showing what your room/house could look like in a few quick steps. Even the light in any given month/time of day.

A few thoughts-cannot do up stairs, cannot change heights of anything,(except walls)' American range of furniture, can't lay paths.

But for the price, very good. Recommended

Amazing but..

This app is very good! I love it as I like to design, and it's quite easy to understand and I have had the home design gold for a long time now! The only thing is it would be great if you could make like an upstairs or multiple floors, and some more objects, I definitely would recommend and hopefully you can add upstairs and more objects! 👍

Handy app

Great little app and easy to use. I'd like to be able to add additional floors/roof, and would like more objects. I'd be happy enough to pay for these as additional content as I think it's reasonable priced for the good functionality it has now.

I use it for when I'm looking at a new house and want to get a feel for what I could do in terms of knocking down walls and rejigging things, it's also great to be able to put in furniture to the exact scale of the stuff you already have to see how it would fit in etc. Highly recommend it, just would like them to add a few extras so it doesn't fall behind times, I've had it for years now and whilst it's great not much has changed.

Amazing Design App

I strongly recommend this app if you are looking to design a room and get a good feel of space and layout. The textures feature is superb. You can upload your own textures and photos.

Love the new update but...

I really like the new items you have added in but the new button near the top right hand screen when I click on it I lag off the game. So that needs to be fixed, I still think there needs to be an upstairs section because like I have said before there is no point on having stairs if you can't go upstairs!

Further updates: I think that you can share your worlds so when somebody downloads this game the starter houses can be one of yours! Of course you can't have all of them but maybe pick out a couple :) So maybe all of the people who play this game can vote which house but they can't vote for themselves.
