The only way you can contact SumUp is by Chat. There is no support. I found them frustrating, all employees giving different information, not responding, hindering the process, losing my business money. Seriously find another supplier. I will not be using them again after this week and their machine and app are going in the bin - Stay away.

Terrible

Randomly shut down my business because “as outlined in Clause 13 of our terms and conditions, we may close or suspend a profile at any given time and for any reason deemed necessary”. I was selling dnd books that I’d made. I hadn’t sold any. In fact I’d listed my site and that’s as far as I got. But don’t worry, they’ve thoroughly reviewed my case and decided no. No reason given. This is the worst card company that I have ever worked with. No customer service whatsoever. You have a problem and it’s everyone else to blame and they then hit you with pages of screed that means nothing.

Been waiting for a response from support for over a week to access my funds and derestric my account

I have made an account to use for an even I had been part of everything was fine making the account and taking the payments. Then when it came to cashing out my funds I was told my account is restricted and needs some more informations via email. This was no issue I got sent an email which told me to reply directly to with information about the company and possible social media or websites to give some general knowledge. I’ve done this sent the email and got a reply from the post master saying “Your message wasn't delivered because the recipient's email provider rejected it.” So I jumped on the live chat and have been back and forth since I even asked the representative if I could just send my email as a text in the chat . I have not been given a email to send to that works and I’ve not been told nothing apart from a specialist has been assigned . This has been an unnecessary headache for me I’ve not been able to pay for my costs and have had to pro long my co workers because of a simple communication issue I will update my review if and when this is sorted but as of now I’ve been left waiting for god knows when I’m not claiming this app to be a scam but I’m experiencing the worse end of it

Why advertise SumUp Local BEFORE THE OPTION FOR CUSTOMERS TO PAY VIA LINKS??

So many customers give up and ask for other ways to pay when I send them a payment link. Why? Because SumUp ADVERTISES ANOTHER OF THEIR APPS ABOVE THE PAYMENT OPTIONS WHEN CUSTOMERS CLICK THE LINK!
So my customers see first a button telling them to install another app to make payments easier with SumUp so that this company can skim their info and make money off my customers! Then they get confused and give up and ask if they can pay another way! GET RID IF THE OPTION TO INSTALL LOCAL SUMUP ON PAYMENT LINKS!! Or at the least please put it AFTER the payment link. Or have a pop up after payment asking if they’d like to set it up for future payments. Just don’t put it first. 😡

Page Freezes

The app freezes when I am trying to transfer money into my bank account. It asks for a pin confirmation however, the phone freezes on that page. It does not give me the option to type anything. I have tried several methods to try and resolve this issue including restarting my mobile, uninstalling the SumUp app and reinstalling. Updating my mobile. However, none of these have rectified the problem I am experiencing. It needs to be resolved because at the moment it’s holding my money on the app, and there is no way of me transferring it to my bank account.

Super easy super fast

I just can’t fault it business account with no hassle super easy to use and I really am a caveman when it comes down to these things.
Account was up and running within about 30 minutes of downloading the app business card for the business account received it within four days and contactless pay machine within one day I have a small window cleaning business and I’ve been waiting for customers to as they say just ping the payment over
Yet I find myself waiting months to be paid but not anymore.
So I tell them no need you can pay now as nobody has cash on them anymore but people always have a card or a phone with them
This has changed. My ability to get my wages in and pay bills on time.

Hands down one of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with.
I signed up to this dumb app completed every single verification they asked for, and ran a completely legitimate account. I sold two handmade products to real customers. Payments went through. Money showed in my balance. All good.
Then, out of nowhere, they permanently shut down my account the very next day. No warning. No explanation. No evidence of wrongdoing. Nothing.
To make it worse, they refunded the customers without my consent. I had already sold the products, yet SumUp kept me unpaid. Whether they want to admit it or not, this resulted in me losing my money entirely. It feels like legalised theft dressed up as “regulation”.
Customer support is useless. They hide behind vague copy-paste responses about “risk” and “regulators” and refuse to explain what rule was supposedly broken. There is no appeal, no accountability, and zero protection for sellers.
If you are a small business, handmade seller, or anyone who actually needs their money, do not trust this company. You can follow every rule, do everything right, and still wake up to your account shut down and your earnings gone.
Cold, careless, and completely untrustworthy. Avoid.

Be careful - Wrong vat calculation on app

I have been trying to raise this issue for several weekend to Sumup support but no luck!
Be careful about a very important issue and bug within the app.
When you setup an item in the system you enter the price of the item inclusive of VAT.
Now if you try to issue an invoice via desktop version, it perfectly fetches the item and calculates the VAT and show it on the invoice correctly. For example if an item is 12 Euros including VAT, with 20% VAT rate, the invoice shows price as 10 and the VAT at 2 totalling 12 Euros.
But if you issue the invoice using the app, selling the same item, the invoice is issued as 12 Euros plus 2.4 EURos VAT at total of 14.40 EUROs. Basically it doubles the VAT.
I have sent several screenshots and explained several times to the support team but it seems they are from Venus and I am from Mars! They simply don’t understand it.
Fix it please SumUp. Fix it.

Constant Glitches and No Resolution

I’ve been a SumUp customer for seven years. Their fees have always been competitive, which I appreciate, but the customer service over the past year has declined significantly.
For the last two weeks, I’ve been unable to view my payouts. In other words, I’m taking payments through SumUp, but I can’t see what I’ll actually be receiving in my business account each week. This is essential information for running my business, and not having access to it is completely unacceptable.
When I contacted support, I was told it was a “glitch” and advised to delete and reinstall the app. I followed the instructions, but nothing changed. After contacting support again, I was told the issue had been “escalated” to another team—who apparently don’t work weekends.
This isn’t the first time I’ve dealt with issues like this. Over the past year, I’ve had multiple “glitches,” and every time something gets escalated, I’m left waiting indefinitely with no clear resolution or follow-up.
I rely on SumUp to manage my business income, and not being able to see my earnings is a nightmare. I’m honestly exhausted with these ongoing problems.
SumUp, please sort this out. I’ve contacted your team countless times throughout 2025, and now we’re in 2026 with the same unresolved issues.
There are other providers out there. Their fees may be slightly higher, but at this point I’m seriously considering paying more for a service that’s reliable and trustworthy

Won’t refund money back for a yearly subscription

This company is very unprofessional. I accidentally applied for a subscription yearly rather than monthly. I asked kindly numerous of times if I could get a refund but each time with different agents telling a whole bunch of different things. I’ve been calling multiple times and they still keep saying that I will receive a refund or receive an email. When I asked to speak to the manager they place me on hold and have me waiting there for an hour and no answer. When I asked why can’t i receive a refund it wasn’t even explained they just said “refunds aren’t guaranteed”. This company is extremely unprofessional when it comes to refunds please for anyone who uses this company don’t!!

Automatic receipts

Returning customers who have historically paid on SumUp used to receive an automatic email or text receipt having entered either their phone number or email address in the first instance, this is no longer the case.
Every sale now gives the manual option to “Send receipt” or “Done”
No more instant receipts !
The instant receipt feature needs to be reinstated as it’s very convenient and a huge time saver !

Ideal for my small business

Not sure why so many negative reviews. Works fine for me and I believe it's worth getting the Sumup reader as looks more "professional" than presenting your smartphone to a customer - also customer knows the Sumup brand but who knows what app is running on a phone presented to you for swiping your card over !
I also find the associated debit card that goes with the account useful.
No real problems and only had to phone customer services in the very early days of setting up. Been with them since 2020 and a few colleagues have joined following my recommendations.

Serious doubts about this company

The customer service is virtually non-existent. ‘Jordan’ is on e-mail but there are very long, (more than an hour) waits for responses that are unhelpful. Problems with the QR code and all they can say is ‘do you have updates’? I’ve on;y been ‘verified’ for a few days. However there is no way of updating that I can see nor is there a way of knowing if the app is up-to-date. Most reputable companies would update automatically or inform of updates available. Also I cannot see how I can get my money back from a QR code payment or a pay-by-phone trial I carried out. This is losing me money. I will look elsewhere for a more reputable service.
(2026: Still not been paid by SumUp six or seven months on. Luckily a small amount of test funding only as the QR codes didn’t work well. I had to take cash only. Dodgy customer services, dodgy QR code (tried to fix it many times, just a very poor quality company).

Transaction failed

Insecure app and poor support

I keep getting error messages when I try to log in to the app saying their app browser doesn’t support https verification, which for a financial app seems a bit scary. Also given that probably 90% of their users use their card readers at weekend and holiday events, their Monday to Friday 9-5 support is dreadful. They will clock off in the middle of your crisis. Useless

Logged out for no reason then when I try to make contact there is no number to call where you can speak to an actual person and no replied via their email, they redirect you to the app support but that’s useless when you can’t log in. SumUp blocked £11,000 of my business funds — and left me to deal with the consequences

I am absolutely shocked and devastated by how SumUp treated my small business.
Without any warning, explanation, or proper communication, SumUp suddenly froze £11,000 of my money — money I desperately need to keep my two-person business running. These are not “just numbers”. This is my cash flow, my bills, my materials… my entire livelihood.
What’s even worse? I now have to pay VAT on these transactions, but the funds that the VAT comes from are exactly the funds they blocked.
So not only did they stop me from operating normally, they also created a tax nightmare where I’m expected to pay HMRC using money I cannot access because SumUp is holding it hostage.
Their verification process has been confusing, repetitive and completely unclear. I provided everything they asked for: proof of business, transaction details, explanations — and still no resolution.
For a small UK business, £11,000 locked away without warning is catastrophic. This is not just an inconvenience. It’s a direct threat to my ability to work, serve customers, and pay what I legally owe.
If you are a small business relying on SumUp, be careful. One sudden “review” from them and you could find yourself unable to trade and unable to access your own money.
Right now, I feel completely let down and powerless — and all I want is access to the money I rightfully earned.

Unable to add business bank account for payout!

If you want to payout to a business bank account - do not download SumUp! We have previously used SumUp with a few of our car clubs and have had a great experience. However, we have now decided to use it for our new business and are unable to add our business bank account as payout. As there is no option to call to speak to someone, I’ve been on back and forth with the support chat for the last 2 weeks and am unable to remove my money without sending the money as a payment! Incredibly frustrated and disappointed with the service provided!

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience using the SumUp app. My account was suddenly closed without a clear explanation with £950 in my account , and I have been unable to reach any real support since then. I’ve sent several emails and tried contacting them through every possible channel, but all I get are automated responses or no reply at all.
It’s very frustrating, especially when real money is involved and no one from the company takes responsibility or explains what happened. I expected a professional financial service, but the lack of transparency and communication has left me feeling completely helpless.
I wouldn’t recommend this app to anyone until SumUp improves its customer support and accountability.

Abysmal Customer Service

App and payments work absolutely fine, very good in fact. Just don’t make the mistake of trying to change the bank account linked to the machine. You have to deal with a virtual assistant, who will send you round in circles.
They will ask for new bank details, but then not accept them as the ‘chat’ is not verified, yet at no point will they tell you how to get the chat verified in the first place. Then they will ask you if you’re having difficulty with your issue to email them and provide you with an email address to send your email to. The only response you will get from this is an automated reply stating they no longer use email…..

Amazing! Will continue using

The app was a great experience for me. Sometimes it does lag a bit but I think that’s just my phone. In the end, the percentage rate they take from your payments is such a GREAT amount and the pay by iPhone/card feature is amazing! Worst customer service ever

You better hope that you don’t have a problem with your card machine because their fully automated customer service will be of zero help. You may as well ask your dog for help with the machine. It says it has a phone line but don’t be fooled, you’re never ever getting through to a person. If you use the support assistant chat, you’re also not getting through to anyone. Basically there is no help. If you have any problems with your machine you may as well just throw it in the bin and buy a different brand. Biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent. And a loss of earnings on top.

Payment Blocked by “Discount Too Large” Error (No Discount Set)

I’ve been experiencing a recurring issue with the SumUp app lately. It consistently shows the error message: “Discount too large. Adjust the discount so that the cart total is greater than £0.00 or add more items to the cart.” This occurs when I enter the payment amount, but I’ve never modified any discount settings (and I’m not sure where to do so). I found that logging out and then logging back in after a few minutes temporarily resolves the issue, but it’s frustrating because this problem happens several times a week. I hope this bug can be fixed soon as it disrupts the payment process.

Lost my money £325

I used SumUp for four years without issues, but recently, a customer requested a chargeback, and the company simply refunded the money without considering my evidence. I submitted all the necessary documentation, including photos and proof of the service provided, but SumUp gave me no alternatives or support. In the end, I lost £325, and the only response I received was that I could close my account if I wanted to.
If you are a self-employed professional or merchant, think twice before using SumUp, as they do not protect your money. If a customer requests a refund, you have almost no chance to contest it. Unfortunately, I can no longer trust this company and do not recommend it.

cancelled my business account without informing me. The app is terrible and is based on AI. It is so difficult to speak to a human being so you get no actual answer to an issue that you might have that can’t be resolved on an FAQ. I was told I would need to have a business account that had the exact same name if I was going to get my money out which I did not have, I got no reply from any email sent to customer service on boarding anything like that at all, when I phoned customer service, I was told they would raise a ticket with the relevant people, but I never received an email again. I’m currently waiting for the ombudsman to attempt to get my money back. They made it so easy to sign up but it’s so difficult to get your money. In conclusion avoid avoid avoid there are much better options.

My experience with this company has been extremely disappointing. It seems like they have no real business support—just a few representatives, possibly offshore, providing unhelpful and misleading information. They made false promises without the authority to deliver, wasting valuable time and resources. Despite all this, they have yet to return the client’s money. Weird Bank

Worst “Financial institutions” on the face of the Earth. I was scammed a while ago for some B30s therefore I had raised a charge back claim, it took them almost a month to respond and once they finally responded (after i sent over 10 emails), they suspended my account. At first they said it was because I needed provide the “nature of my business”, which I did without hesitation. Once i sent them what they’ve asked for they didn’t respond for a whole 2 days so i contacted the support team, they told me they’d make it matter of urgency and i’ll get a réponse at the end of the day. Surprise surprise, they didn’t respond, so i contacted the support team again, only then to find out my account was suspended because of the claim I made. So I get scammed, I raise a charge back claim, then they suspend my account 🤣. This bank makes absolutely no sense it’s like if i hadn’t of applied pressure i wouldn’t have found out why my account was suspended in the first place. They’re a joke, don’t waste your time with these lot.

No consistency in time of payouts

All in all I’m extremely happy with this service for my new business. BUT!! There’s no consistency with the pay out time.
It’s a next day pay out that hits the bank at maybe 430pm, 5pm as late as 8pm
Just an advisory that’s frustrating as this is aimed at small businesses. I’m relatively new I finish at 2.30 pm every day , and rely on my payouts to be the next day so I can buy stock etc. It’s a bit frustrating when it doesn’t arrive until 8pm and other days 530/6pm.

Very unreliable

I had the sum up air card reader as a back up when the I Zettle started having ongoing problems.
I then switched to using Sum Up. Initially it worked without any problems and I was very pleased with it and made it my main resource for taking payments.
Then it became so unreliable, losing Bluetooth connection constantly and not being able to connect at all.
I went through all the options, manually updating the app, resetting etc but it just didn’t get any better.
I really want to use Sum Up and I want it to succeed but it just isn’t reliable so I will be going back to I Zettle and keeping Sum Up as emergency back up.

Could be better

I have been using SumUp since 2015 & it has developed over the years into a good system. I use the app on my iPad in my plant nursery & I did use it via my Wix website but SumUp processing for card payments were higher than Striped so haven’t integrated for that reason.
My biggest frustration is that I use Wix POS in my physical shop as I sell over 800 individual gift items. What I really really want is for SumUp to create a barcode scanner which will integrate with Wix POS so my inventory scans in and out as I sell items. Square offers this but I’m reluctant to switch as SumUp does what it needs to do but other companies seem to be more up to date with features which help the smaller businesses like mine. Please please do something! I will happily buy the hardware but you don’t offer it!!!

New way to accept payments

Update The app allows you to accept payments without the use of the card reader ! I asked the customer to pay using my iPhone 14, card was rejected, asked to do it again card was rejected again, costumer began to get embarrassed saying that they had funds in the bank and they were not trying to get out of paying, I then got my card reader and tried again, the payment went straight through. Why do developers put something out into the costumer domain without testing it to make sure it works !!!!

Absolutely horrible service everytime. Decided to block all transactions randomly on number iys occasions and when you try and email them and ask them for help they never get back to you. They’re still witholding money from me which i don’t know when i can get back. Tried to call customer service on numerous occasions and when you get through they don’t even put you to the right departments and they also like to put you on hold for ages, they don’t care about individuals issues atall. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS APP. only rated them one star because you have to rate it to submit the review but they deserve no stars. Was great, until I needed customer service

I’ve used sun up for years (about 6-7) and always been happy, no problems. So I decided to use it for my other business too, so I set up an account with the email for my other business & couldn’t get past the setting up bank details, it just sent me round in circles. I emailed customer service and every time they told me to try something, it made no difference. Eventually they said to create a new account with a new email address (I had to create another email address just for this which was a pain) & it still did the same. It just won’t accept my bank details. I emailed again to complain and this time they’ve just ignored my email completely.
Looks like I’ll have to go elsewhere, which is a shame after years of good service, let down by customer service or lack of :(

Frustrated with Ongoing Verification Issue - No Access to Funds for Over 3 Months

I hate to say this, but I have been incredibly disappointed with the SumUp app and its customer service. For over three months now, I have been dealing with an ongoing verification problem that has left me unable to access my funds. I've reached out multiple times, only to be told that my case would be escalated for further verification procedures and that they would work on resolving the issue. However, there has been absolutely no progress. I continue to face difficulties accessing my hard-earned money, and it feels like my concerns have been completely ignored.
In one of my previous emails, I provided detailed information about the source of funds in my account. These funds were collected through a bake sale organized by the Egyptian society to support the Turkish and Syrian earthquake relief efforts. As the President of this unofficial organization, I had to borrow money from a friend to purchase essential supplies for those affected.
Despite providing all the necessary information, my verification problem remains unresolved. This lack of progress is not only frustrating but also deeply disappointing. As a loyal customer, I expected better treatment and a prompt resolution to my issue.
I kindly request that SumUp prioritize my case and provide a timely solution. If they require any additional documentation or evidence, I am more than willing to provide it promptly. However, it's disheartening to see such a lack of attention and assistance from their customer service team.

Card reader blocked

I am not happy about the way Sumup is trying to sell their card readers by blocking the existing machines. I was working and right in the middle of my work when I was taking payment the card reader was blocked. Next day I phone the customer service and they said they can’t answer my questions regarding the block and why it’s been blocked, so they advised me to purchase another machine for £48. I been izettle for 5 years which is Zettle by PayPal now and I have never had any issues. Also the Zettle card reader is frequently updated and perfectly working. I will advise all of my friends and colleagues to get Zettle and bin Sumup.
To be liked by everyone Sumup should change and improve the way they handle their card readers. We can’t afford to buy new machines every time they get blocked. One star is too much. Sumup deserves minus Zero stars.

Joke company

Customer service is appalling. Our card machine broke after three weeks. We had used it a handful of times. Contacted live chat and they told me we won’t send you a replacement machine you need to pay for another one which is £154. I then called support who were also useless didn’t wish to hear about the device not working wanted video evidence wouldn’t send replacement. So I told them I’ll send that video and I’m going to move my business away from you and want a refund as service is terrible. Avoid at all costs the equipment breaks to easily and support are hopeless. Like talking to a brick wall. Still waiting to see what these muppets do in terms of resolving my issue and refund.

The app is really easy to use and the card readers are not that expensive . for any changes to the app or payments, hitting your account around bank holidays etc, they always send you an email regarding this. Total disaster Area!

Since I started using SumUp for payments the quality of service is plummeting like a Kamikaze pilot.
1st they removed the ability to upload price list from CSV files now expecting u to manually edit every dam thing through the app. I selected this so engineers could select items and get paid at the job.
The card readers hardly last 6 months.
Their version of customer support is a really annoying Chat Bot.
I was never sure whether a Homo Sapien was on the other end.
I was trying to open a payment link sent to customer to double check. You can’t open to read your description on the payment link. Instead you have to wait 30 days and it dumps the data.
Also tried to get help with card reader as the app was reporting faults but again the staff are paid to drive you mad that you hang up and ignore the crap alleged customer support.
You are never allowed to speak to a human on the telephone.
In Short go try Square or Stripe because SumUp is a thing of the past where others have caught up and zoomed on by.

Not keeping up with the competition

I’ve had SumUp for some years now, but use it less and less as time passes. I have a few issues with the way it’s falling behind the competition.
1. The tipping options show up on the phone, not the SumUp device. This means I have to ask the customer if they wish to tip. It should be an option on the terminal whereby the customer has to select either to tip or not themselves before making the payment.
2. The terminal disconnects for no apparent reason several times a day making the whole process extremely slow because you have to reconnect constantly
3. It can take anything up to 2 weeks for a payment to reach my account. The competition pays next morning without fail.
These are the 3 reasons this card reader spends most of its life gathering dust. Fix these and I’ll use it again. The battery life alone would make it my favourite reader.

Awful app need a major update

I've had my sum up air nearly a year now. The past 4 months have been awful. I've added new products that refuse to go into the right sections. I've got enrichment product mixed in with food sections. Everytime I use sum up I loose £20 or more as Customer can't pay. The reader disconnects when. You leave the reader and take your phone.
I use this once a week sumup have put me off doing anymore than one market a week. As they just wouldn't cope with taking payments. They also have a God awful blind on products. You can't easily see the products to add to the sales as they add a stupid filter over the top of them. This makes sales slower as your can't see products. I'm looking to leave and go else where. I rather wait 2 day to clear my payments than loose any more money using sum up.

Lost transactions

I have 2 days worth of transactions that have gone missing. I’ve been waiting for a week now for someone to look into this but the app logged me out and wouldn’t let me back in for a good hour then when I did it started my sales from scratch losing over £120 that I can’t bring up on any reports that went through as approved transactions. Support problem

I have been a SumUp user for several years. This week we have had a problem. Someone infiltrated the SumUp security and changed the password on the account. It appears to be impossible to regain control. The infiltrator has not changed the bank account for receipts (and I guess cannot) but I cannot issue invoices or correlate payments received to outstanding invoices. I spent ages on phone yesterday trying to resolve - this ended with the agent saying she could not and would have to ‘escalate’ the issue. I was promised a call back which has not materialised. After a long time as a satisfied user of SumUp, I am now entertaining doubts as to whether I should continue to work with it. This review is, ultimately, an attempt to get SumUp to resolve the problem…

Since Mondays 8th august 2022 when you up dated the app it now doesn’t allow you to access your account .You can still take a payment but you can’t access your money .. it’s now Wednesday 10th and it’s still not working .. I’ve called a few times and sent emails (no response to email) but I got through on the phone to be told it would be flagged . People are working on it or just everything’s working as it should ..I can’t believe it’s taken two days and it’s still not working or been addressed the only acknowledgment publicly by SumUp I can see is a a reply to a Twitter comment .. just let people know and tell them when it will be up and running as if leaves people worrying about there finances

Poor customer service and connection issues

Having SumUp machines in my business has mostly been positive, but it’s becoming more and more common that we’re having awful problems trying to connect our phones to a card reader. It will work fine for a few transactions and then just disconnect for no reason. I’ve had to close the app down and restart every time this happens. It really slows me down on a busy shift and customers get frustrated.
Also, I’ve been through about 8 card readers in the past few years as they just stop working (sometimes mid transaction) for no reason… no bumps or sharp impacts as the bot suggests when I try to ask for help.
Poor design and poor customer service. I’m still waiting on an answer to a question I asked 2 weeks ago via email.

Such a ridicules service I am using this service for three years and was good but from yesterday I can’t logged in to my account and as a taxi driver I lost my business on Friday night and Saturday as well and can’t get hold of them to fix the issue as I spoke to the support team on numerous occasions and they said that we will process your problem with the relevant department and they will contact you as soon as possible,and no one contact me up tell now which is a shame ,how come people bother to work with them as there are so many other providers in the market, please stay away from them and choose another provider so you don’t lose your business.

Several issues, stopped supplying readers to my customers

-When creating an invoice online the “Due Date” keep going back to “paid” even when selecting “Due Today” manually
-When creating invoice online you can only write the goods item name correctly the 1st time in the “Name” box because when trying to correct a spelling mistake after typing, the curser keeps jumping to the end of the name box. You have to delete the entire box & retype even for a minor spelling mistake
-In the app I typed a “Description” under the Name box & the description won’t show in the invoice after downloading it.
-Still cannot edit a saved invoice in the app after creating it. Can only edit online after creating it in the app.
-Still cannot “Save to Files” after viewing the downloaded invoice in the web browser
Increasing my stars (to 3 from 1) because Sum Up seems to have made an effort when I re tried after a long time. Had stopped using & supplying to customers on my last review. But if the above items are sorted I may consider to start using & supplying 3G readers to customers again. Worst thing for a supplier (including us) is when a customer approaches you with these issues & you don’t know how you can resolve it for them because you’re relying on Sum Up yourself. For one of my customers I ended up making a template on Google Sheets to use in the meanwhile while Sum Up sorts the issues out.

Business booster

Purchasing SumUp was the best thing we did for our football club. Having only ever accepted cash, we lost a lot of business when customers had to leave to go to the cash machine and would then not return! SumUp has boosted our income by as much as £5,000 per onto. Business has never been better allowing us to improve the premises after what has been an awful 18 months. I can’t recommend SumUp enough!

App functions have taken a backwards step

On Ios14.5 on iPhone 12. When editing the price of an item or a series of variants, the Copy and Paste function is not working in the price field.
Also when you move the cursor to a place in the price to delete a character and then type a new one, it gets appended to the end of the price. All very annoying and should be picked up in testing of the app.

No customer service

Money went missing from my account so I tried to call customer services and couldn’t find a working number. I messaged them and received an automatic message to say I’d get a reply in 24 hours. I waited 3 days no reply to any of my messages. I tried the what’s app it took 26 hours before I got a really bad response. They don’t seem to care about their customers I was with them for two and a half years and get treated like trash. I’m now taking my business to a company with customer services. Worst card device I have experienced

Our terminal has become so extremely slow 10-20 minutes every waiting time for the device to work, disconnects every time it goes to stand by, we have to reconnect every time it’s time wasting, and time is money, it’s so inconvenient, we are a busy restaurant we need to work fast and this device we spent £150 from sumup is just the worst device we had to work with , we are having extreme difficulty taking payments with sum up, customer wont wait 20 minutes at the bar for paying, it frustrated so much customers, we requested a replacement and got ignored, definitely will stay away from them .

Brilliant

Iv been using the app & 2 card readers since November Never had any issues transactions are a breeze & work every time has made the queues go much fast with been able to pay by card & the my product section is brilliant the only down side that I have is stock control if a item goes out of stock there is no way to set stock limits so the button can’t be pressed on the app & discounts would be great instead of needing to type in the amount & for it not to show on the invoice they have received a discount as some offered we have is for 0 pound there is no way to discount it or set it up in my products with out needing to add a price so it’s currently set to 1p it would be great to add a discount option so product can be discounted by a % or £ off the items selected show the discount shows up on the invoice & not needing to have separate products of the same thing set up in my products

Latest Update

Woke up this morning to find the app has updated. Looks nicer, but ... the keypad buttons seem closer together, meaning accidentally pushing wrong button twice now, and I have only used it for 2 transactions. When trying to correct the mistype, the clear button has been changed to a backspace. Meaning more button pushes to clear the mistype. I preferred the ‘C’ button as it was faster.
Still, SumUp is still one of the best things to happen for our store. Fantastic payment offerings and service. Thank you SumUp team.

A game changer

I’ve been using SumUp for about two years now and don’t know what I would do without it. Always reliable and never late paying straight into your account. Monthly statements makes accounting so easy. My clients regularly comment on how easy it is to use and sending receipts via email or sms is a doddle. The real game changer however is the virtual terminal facility for over the phone payments. As a very small business, I couldn’t justify the over the top bank merchant service fees and fixed contracts that also come with other merchant facilities. Thank you SumUp for a brilliant service.

A Long Awaited Improvement.

For us, SumUp was let down only by an annoying app layout that made it far too easy to hit ‘charge’ when attempting to enter 00 to the sum due. The latest update has separated the charge button from the number keypad - a great improvement.
I would thoroughly recommend SumUp to anyone looking for a comprehensive, effective, efficient, low cost and very straightforward means of taking card payments almost anywhere.

Best little card reader ever !

I’ve had my reader over 12 months now and it just Works as it should. It’s brilliant and improved business by 90% as before we only took cash payments.
You can tap, swipe or insert the card for payment or even type in the card number if it doesn’t read it.
I just love it and couldn’t do without it now. They always answer any query I’ve had which hasn’t been many but there very professional and I will continue to use it for as long as it’s available.

This is a great device had this well over 3 months and not charged it once yet. If I don’t use within 20 minutes it goes into sleep but comes straight on as soon as I use the app on my phone. Not sure why people saying that it’s doesn’t come back on maybe they need updating there device. Also like to point that other companies charge you a monthly subscription or a higher percentage, you can’t beat 1.67% for charges and no monthly fee. Top dollar to sum up

No “X”reading

This is nearly fantastic but has a couple of problems. 1. It goes to sleep. I did try and sort this out with cust svs but they were very confused and the different departments were not very good at liaising with each other. They sent out a new unit to my old address so I persevere with what I have 2. No x read. I take many small transactions and have to balance by writing down and adding up. It is 10 mins a day I could use more effectively. If I could export to excel it would be better. Surely any business must balance at the end of a trading period.
