Improvements needed

I bought full version having been led to believe that this app would show me a full picture of shadows moving across the terrain. All I have found is a dot indicating (not displaying) the shadow. This must be do-able since the maps are preexisting. Disappointed and can’t really recommend to others.

Excellent!

This has a lot of USEFUL info for anyone wishing to know sun/moon position (and more) metrics. Especially useful for photographers and filmmakers for obvious reasons. No gimmicks just good data! Have used it for years and found very reliable. Just hope development keeps up as it has done.

Time saver!

This is the best app for planning sunset and sunrise trips. The killer feature is the ability to search any location in the world and have the guide lines pointing at exactly where sunset and sunrise will occur.

Perfect Candidate Need : Perfect Solution App.

There are some real-world functions that are perfect candidates for software tool-set solutions. This "need x solution" combination is rarely a perfect mind storm. In the 35 years I have been using computer apps, I have never encountered such a perfect match so perfectly made, delivered and presented. I last felt like this when I first touched my first Apple Mouse😎. It deserves its own annual Hollywood Oscar!

Anybody who teaches a course on what computers are made and what they are best made for, would be well served by incorporating Sun Surveyor into the curriculum.

Very professional

I bought this app yesterday and feel I must write a brief review of it, even after just a few uses. We are currently on the Isle of Skye and the app has proven extremely useful. It operates in one of the most professionally presented apps I've ever used. It's accurate and the menu system is intuitive and the options available seem to be everything you'd need.

A suggestion though, as an astronomer I'd like to see as well as decimal long lat the minutes and seconds equivalents.

A fantastic app presented exceptionally well with almost everything you need.

Outstanding!

I design properties which follow permaculture principles and which are usually based on a zero-carbon dwelling. Visiting to observe the site over a year is often involved, but this app allows some invaluable 'cheating' as far as tracing the solar track in relation to the actual landscape horizons - even the shadow caused by a tree is easy to define.

So well recommended, I can't think of words enough. Many thanks.

Incredible App

I'm a keen amateur photographer and this app has enabled me to plot the position of the sun both now and in the future, remotely for planning and on location. Simply put it is amazing.

Love the map, satellite, hybrid and street map views. Live view through the phone camera and the ability to access via my iPhone camera or IPad is fantastic.

All this and I've barely scratched the surface.

I'm no expert and can find no faults, then again I'm looking at what it does do and how it can help me rather than what it doesn't.

Worth a few pounds of anyone's money.

Astonishing!

This app is astonishing! I've been using it now for a couple of years and each and every time an update arrives I'm blown away by what else the developer has added and perfected - it just gets better and better. I'd recommend this to anybody who's even remotely interested in what the sun's doing above their head on a day-to-day basis. I've found many uses for 'Sun Surveyor' and it's highly accurate predictions, it's never once let me down or proved even remotely unreliable. Hey and a special thanks to the guy who brought this amazing product to fruition - you're a Genius...

Superb app...but this version appears to have lost something.

With this version, when I retrieve a saved situation, it appears to retrieve only the location, leaving the date unaltered from the current setting. I was using the save facility to record the sky state at significant times and places in the past (some even years ago). And also in the future, to plan future photographs.

This no longer works. Only the location is saved and retrieved.

I retrieve the location of the historical event I saved, but with today's sky.

The dates and times of my future planned photographs are similarly lost.

I really liked the previous versions of this app, but now it's even better. I'm a professional architectural and interiors photographer, and this app is absolutely indispensable for my job. I recommend it to everyone who needs accurate information about sunset, sunrise and the position of the sun during the day. Keep up the good work!

Great app, but expensive if your not going to use a lot

I have brought the full version to assist me in deciding if a possible house purchase will go ahead, as just found out the trees have tpo's on them. This has assisted me no end with the decision as you can see real time by moving the camera about where the sun will travel through the trees. Although the google maps option is ok, it doesn't really help you see what parts of the garden would be in shade from say a line of trees at different heights. If you could pin a adjustable height pole on the map so it projected shadow lines on google maps, this feature would be amazing and would get full marks from me. However it still is very useful. Not sure how else you could get such info so early. Keep the updates coming

Wonder-full

I had to write my first review for this app, as it's making me laugh in excitement with what it can do. I've been looking for this exact thing for years: Google Maps based Sun & Moon measurements (even live in StreetView), but until I started using this app did I appreciate the implications for my work in archeoastronomy. It's effortless to use and fully detailed. Some companies might charge 5x the cost for this so hats off to Adam for keeping the pricing competitive

Very useful and accurate app for landscape and architectural photographers. It took me a while to get used to the interface but with use it has proved to be a great little app for getting to a location when the sun or the moon is where you want it to be. Just remember it can't predict the weather! I recommend it.

I was somewhat apprehensive purchasing this app due to the lack of reviews. However my fears were unfounded, this is a fantastic app that I use frequently to plan my photographic shoots.

Absolutely amazing app

I have bought

lots of apps and this is the first one that has impressed me so much I am moved to review it.

As a landscape photographer the position of the sun and moon relative to a particular point of view is paramount. This app takes all of the guess work out of that. No more sitting around for half an hour to ensure I am in place at the right time.

The AR View is something else. I can now predict exactly when then sun is going to be in the right position for my shot, whether it is later today or next spring by just pointing my iphone camera at the scene and moving the scroll bar. Just amazing. Well done!

This great app does exactly what it says, giving a complete picture of the sun and moon's position and movement at any time, anywhere.

Invaluable for photography, setting up solar panels, and a hundred other uses.

Just brilliant to see the sun and moon track at any date and on any place on earth. I'm not a photographer (physicist) and it is great just to browse sunrise & set times with current, equinox and solstice tracks. Great for travellers too.

Fantastic

I've tried a number of sun tracking apps but this by far works the best and is the most stable. Just wish you could sync your saved locations via iCloud or Dropbox as this would be useful when switching between iPhone & iPad.
