Shame the controller is not fixed
It’s a great game but why the controller is not working.I have two out of three buttons working you shouldn’t take much to add the third one. I put five stars when that is fixed.

Already fed up reading the comments and tired of not even able to resize the icon controls they are covering the entire screen!!!!

I want to love it but can't because of, you guessed it, sluggish controls
The first boss is pretty much impossible not to use up continue after continue because it doesn't want to let you turn quick enough, and so on and so on all the way through the game.

What a great childhood game of mine, so I was excited to see it on a list of recommended iPhone games for Bluetooth multiplayer. My brother and I each downloaded this to pass the time on a long journey, but we spent the whole time trying to get the multiplayer function working: in the end we had both wasted our money on a broken game and over an hour playing with settings. Please fix it or refund us. Thanks.

Controls are garbage
The controls for this game are a MESS. It feels frustrating that the game appears to be a huge amount of fun if it wasn't rendered almost unplayable by the terrible touch screen pad. Don't waste your money.

Don't complain about the controls- get a controller!
This game is absolutely classic. Hats off to SNK for porting it with controls for a mfi controller. If u want to play this game properly get yourself a decent controller- well worth it for this and the GTA games!

Won't even load...
As soon as I click on the app, the SNK logo appears and then it crashes. I payed good money for this and I get BS in return. I have an iOS 6.0 device so it is fully compatible. Please resolve this issue or give me my money back!

Joystick problems!
Very difficult to move joystick. It does not work properly and gets stuck, thus making it hard to move character around. It is a minor issue, but it is very annoying. Needs update.

Let down by controls
Game looks great, nicely designed and looks almost exactly as it did when I played in the arcade and on Roms on my PC. However, the controls are terrible. It is so difficult to aim diagonally it virtually renders the controls as up down left right and nothing in between. So many situations in the game require you to shoot up and right and this lack of diagonal aiming completely ruins the game. Don't buy unless they sort out the controls.

Remember the 90's
Remember Metal Slug, the awesome super tough 90's SNK arcade shooter? It requires skill and lighting fast reflexes. Well this is it. An exact port. It's still a great game. Now imagine playing it with controls you cannot feel. Your thumb slipping gradually out of the circle that acts as a virtual joystick as you concentrate on the action. Naturally this spells death. So it's the same old story regarding an iOS arcade port, great game let down by the controls.

A great port but why is there a limit on the number of continues you can use? Why not make it infinite, it makes the game quite stressful constantly watching your lives count down till your kicked out of the level, please fix this, give us an infinite continues option, pleeeeeease

Metal Slug! A childhood addiction. Definitely a time-killer for me. Everything is perfect, just like what you would normally see in an arcade, just that it's touch-screen. True, it takes away the fun in mashing buttons, but who said we couldn't' mash the screen?
However, I gave it only four stars as the controls are kind of hard to master, especially when I'm going to jump and attack. It's kind of hard to control the directions.. Also, the multiplayer thing is cool, however I'm not sure if the problem is with me, but when I do multiplayer, I seem to lag too much that it's unplayable. I followed the instructions to turn Wifi off as well, but that only made things worse. It would have been fun if I could play the game properly with my friends..

They not only fixed the iOS7 bug, but they increased the continues, making completion of this game actually possible. Now that they fixed it the game is back to being awesome again.

Almost perfect
They finally fixed it for iOS 7, and it runs perfectly now.
The only issue I have is that sometimes when I'm running from a boss or just in general, my character randomly stops moving, and I have to tap the joystick icon again to continue moving, it may not sound like a big issue, but with all the bobbing and weaving you need to do in this game, randomly stopping can mean life or death :P

Screen does not align right.
The screen does not fit on my iPad Air. As a result I can only see 2/3 of the screen, so all the touch screen buttons are off screen. So 1 star till it is fixed and I can play this game.

Personally I love metal slug games. But had a bad experience this time. The game does not change orientation , stays in portrait mode and shows half of the screen when playing in portrait mode. Very disappointed I hope it's a bug and you guys do something about it

I wouldn't recommend purchasing this on any new device because unfortunately it doesn't load , the screen looks like it been cut in half a there is also problems playing multiplayer using Bluetooth which is most disappointing because it's a memorable childhood game that me and my brother played on ps2 so I can not describe how much this saddened me, please fix bugs very unhappy.

This is one of my all time favs and on the ipad with the icade is a dream but it is unplayable as the orientation switches to portrait upon startup cutting off half the screen meaning I can't change the settings I'm on an ipad 2 running 7.0.4. This is just wrong as they have sold and are selling a difective product. Please fix this soon!

Nostalgic!
A great trip down memory lane, it plays fairly well and there's no lag in game play, controls on the screen are ok but play it on the icade and it just like I remember it! A great game series and worth every penny, just love it!!!

Arcade Greatness !!!
Classic Arcade shmup greatness the Neo Geo way and all in the palm of your hand.
However needs update for iPhone 5 screen (NOT just a stretched screen). Maybe a 'Classic/Original' normal untouched screen-format mode setting within options and a new 'Big Action' iPhone 5 widescreen default mode when the game senses its running on iPhone 5 hardware.
Naturally a HD version for iPhone 5 would be something that many may desire, however it's understandable that being 2D the painstaking human artwork has already been done long ago and that it would be too much of an epic undertaking to redo. But at least an iPhone 5 screen update would be just some tweaking of software and therefore software generated after (No screen stretching please as it's not the same).

Absolutely fantastic.
This should get 4.9 stars because I only have the tinyest problem with it, and that is whenever I start the app up it resets my keys so I have to go into key configuration every time I play it.
Other than that, you brought my all time favourite game onto something I can play no matter where I am!

Not a bad game just like the classic MS3. I thought SNK may improved the graphic to support the iPad HD screen but it just felt like the graphic being stretched.
Control is easy to master. Overall this game is not worth £5 when better games are available in the app store for far less.

Great game, needs to fix button configuration
Great game, glad they finally brought it to the iPhone, however I'm not a fan of the button configuration, no matter where I position them, it takes away some of the screen and affects game play!

Wow, loving the windowed option
As soon as I saw that the game had been windowed, I bought it.
It stops the game screen being obscured by the controls and makes the game play much more fun.
Wish more games were like this.

A very good port of one of the best and most balanced metal slug games. Controls are similar to many other touch screen games on iOS, they can get you killed every so often but their doable. This game is tough, but that's the hole point, you learn the routines of the enemy's and bosses untill you progress. What you get is, lovely hand drawn graphics, some of the best run and gun gameplay, variety in enemy's and levels. If this sounds like your sort of thing then you all ready know what to do!
