Our app puts the power to save lives in the palm of your hand and enables you to book or change an appointment in seconds. To use the app you will first need to have registered online in order to log in. Don’t worry if you haven’t, you can still do this after downloading the app by selecting the Register option. We have simplified the registration process and within minutes of registering you can instantly sign in and book yourself an appointment slot or even change or cancel your existing appointments. You can also edit your personal details and view a timeline of your life-saving donation history, and view the awards you have received on your timeline for saving and improving lives. You will also get an option to receive instant alerts or information updates from us of when we need support for your specific blood group.

Easy and rewarding experience
I gave blood this month for the first time in about 20 years. The staff were very professional, reassuring and very friendly. They put me at ease as soon as I arrived. I have already booked my next appointment and will continue to give blood on a regular basis from now on

Great App - missing some functionality though.
Overall this is a GREAT App giving you the ability to book WHOLE Blood donations, see you Blood Donor ID and your donations to date.
However, I’ve recently become a Plasma donor (2 donations booked and a 3rd scheduled) and am in the process of becoming a Platelet and Plasma donor BUT was shocked to find that the App ONLY works for Whole blood donors, in fact I can no longer log into the App so have lost access to my account / schedule and booking service!
I was told (by by staff at the donation centre) that “It’s being worked on”, but there are unfortunately too many mixed messages, for example when I called the central Blood Services number I was informed that the App was ONLY for Blood donors and my account had been suspended now I was a Plasma Donor.
If the developers are indeed fixing / updating the App I’d be happy to act as a Beta tester for them!!

I want to use this but I can’t even sign in. Doesn’t let me paste my password from my password manager, and even if I type it out manually it doesn’t process the login request. The fields just erase themselves. Sign up with Apple doesn’t work at all.

Feedback for user friendliness..
Hi, this app doesn’t allow me to rotate to horizontal use of my tablet, only allows vertical use. (My screen is not locked in this position) It therefore won’t let me use my keyboard and I have to use the screen keyboard. Also doesn’t save email, therefore not saving password. All not anything like the worst things to happen in the world (!) but if you’re asking for app feedback..? Otherwise once access gained, appointment side is good.

My one tiny complaint is that for some reason the functionality to download the appointment into my calendar has stopped working. It’s easy enough to do it manually but I liked this feature. I’m sure this will get fixed soon.

Very Good App
I’ve been using this app for years now - It’s a very good app to download if you give regular blood donations in England.
You can make, view and renew appointments at any location. It can display the closest or the soonest appointments available within your search area, and then you can book whichever time slot is convenient. You can also look up and keep track of previous donation details, even ones that you conducted before downloading the app.
I’ve also donated in Scotland, and ScotBlood are seriously lacking this App. I personally had many delays in donating because there was nothing like this available up there and ScotBlood were lacking in sending out reminders to me.

THE NEED TO GIVE!
I have Been donating blood since 1964 whilst serving in the RAF.
Times have changed the procedures quite a lot, it is now so much easier & safer to donate than back then.
I am looking forward to giving my 79th donation in June, you may ask why, the hospitals need a regular supply & with all the different types of blood, it isn’t always available. I always feel so much better after donating, l just feel good almost peaceful & will continue to donate whilst able do do so.

The Blood Service have really improved the donation sessions. Quick, easy and relatively painless even during the pandemic. I was impressed. It’s a win win for me....you feel a sense of pride about potentially saving people’s lives whilst sitting down and relaxing and then you’re rewarded with a guilt free chocolate bar!! I just wish more people would do it. I keep putting it out on Facebook but, as yet, to no avail.

Simple and effective
I needed to change my appointment time at short notice which I was able to do quickly and with the minimum of fuss. You do need to know your email address/password password combination of course, which may be an issue because you only use the app every 3 or 4 months. It would be nice if it remembered these for you. If you forget them, it will take much longer to book/change your date.

Arriving early in the snow
I did not want to cancel my appointment, so left early as I did not know how long it was going to take me to arrive at the venue, due to the snow fall, but arrived twenty five minutes early and was asked to wait outside? I understand with Covid it is very difficult at the moment, but to be told to wait outside when it is minus 3 and feels like minus 7, I was a little bemused, when I went back in on time rather cold, the process was absolutely fine, this was my 75th donation, but I was very concerned that an elderly person may have the same issue, so feel when there is extremely cold weather we need to be extra careful.

Easy to use, easy to select locations and nice to use too. I’ve ended up booking back to back donations as a result of the app. It takes less than a minute and knows the dates I can book up on based on my previous session. It also gives you little milestones and the option to share on Facebook.

Christ the Cornerstone
Hi, no blame to the NHS but donating on December 31st was uncomfortable in the extreme, not only was there a 30 minute delay owing to the fact someone failed to put the heat on in time, but even with the blowers in place, it was still too cold.
How your staff worked all day in those temperatures is above and beyond the call of duty.
If I had hired the church on that day I would withhold rental payment because this is not acceptable for your donors or your dedicated staff.

Available dates
When trying to book a next session at a venue, the app displays the next date a session is on at the venue, but when you select it the dates displayed are the next available with free slots which may not be the same if they are all booked.
It can be a bit confusing, so the first date displayed should be the next available with any slots.

Some things that could improve the app...
You should be able to search by donor location and not just dates. Therefore if you have one near you then you can just check when the next donation dates are at that location.
Often have trouble actually booking and get given errors when using the app without any reason for this.
Could be useful to notify you when the next date you can donate that is available at your favourite locations once you have completed your previous donation. Therefore already planning your next date.

Amazing app with donors at its heart
So lovely to see digital being embraced so hard. Each time I use this app (every few months) something new and handy has been added to improve the experience for donors.
I suggested a feature last year and within 2 months it was implemented. Today I’ve just logged in and they’ve added the ability to book straight after your last appt.
A digital experience that matches the superb people you see at the donor centres and in their support. Top work team.

Simple to use but needs some refining
The app is pretty easy to use if the booking is straightforward when I tried to book a session at my usual place there was no availability for a long while so the booking seem to divert to another venue 5 months ahead. I also did not notice the change of venue and was assuming I was booking at my original one.
I subsequently called the phone line as requested through previous correspondence as my blood type was in short supply. I was told my usual venue had no planned sessions until further notice.
Returned to the app and booked an appointment much closer in time at a venue not much further in distance to the original one.
The issue I’m highlighting is that there seems to be a bit of a disconnect between correspondence being sent that a particular blood type is in high demand and the app allowing you to be prioritised within permissible time limits.

Easy to use
App is easy to use, and booking is very straightforward, with lots of information available to keep track of you donations and when you are able to donate next.
However, I’m not sure if this is an effect from a recent update, but now whenever I go back to the ‘appointment search’ page, all of my presets are reset, which makes it a bit annoying when all I want to do is change the location. Also, when selecting ‘show available appointments only’, it still shows dates and venues that, when clicked on, says there are no events happening 🤷♂️
Other than these first world problems, the app is very good

I think I’m up to 31 donations now and although sometimes you have to wait, it’s always worth it. You could never rate Blood Donating any lower than a five as we’re all here for one purpose. To help. The app works beautifully as well. You can book your next appointment while drinking your tea. Top marks for everyone involved in giving blood.

Nice idea, but less helpful if you want to reschedule
Clear, easy interface. Future appointments (3 months +) are easy to book because statistically they are more likely to have spaces.
However, it is useless if you want the next available appointment in your area due to having to cancel / rearrange. I don’t want to be shown locations for days where appointments are not actually available. Small tick box with “only show locations/dates with available appointments” would have saved lots wasted time.
Also, it doesn’t seem to register my login credentials from the Apple password keeper. Minor but this is pretty standard in other apps.

DONOR REVIEW
I’ve just received my “over 70 you can now start donating again” letter - and having missed a donation due to Covid attempted to make an on-line appointment. Sadly all booked until mid-Oct. All isn’t lost. I’ve been donating since 1969 and having to wait a few more weeks to give another unit is not important.
Keep up the great work - my next whole blood donation will be number 106!!

It gets what it need to done, but is quite clunky
It’s a useful app and makes booking blood donations much easier.
But the app is clunky and requires some work. Logging in is a hassle: you have to do it every time, and it doesn’t work with iCloud Keychain either (it deletes the text from the fields) meaning your details have to be manually typed each time. Going between pages takes time to load and buttons are slow to respond. Going between menus/pages also deletes where you were at and requires a lot of repeated actions to get to where you want. Makes comparing availability between locations difficult.
Otherwise a good app.

Giving blood while coronovirus
I gave a donation of blood a couple of days ago and was very impressed how the staff dealt with the situation the only thing out of their control was the weather as while waiting outside the venue the heavens opened and it poured down with heavy rain my appointment was at 6:55 and I was back home at 7:55 so was very impressed with the service and the following day I had a text and email thanking me for my donation 😊

Super convenient!
Whilst the app is definitely the most convenient way for me to book my blood donation appointments, it’s definitely still buggy, even after a year of me using it. The bugs aren’t unbearable, just things like the page randomly refreshing me back to the first page after scrolling down the appointments list or logging in being iffy sometimes. All in all, very happy I have this app though to help me book and easily track of my donation appointments!

Makes Finding and Booking Appointments Easy
This app is a must have for regular donors.
Once logged in you can input the postcode of where you are and it will bring up all of the sessions within a radius by date.
If you go into advanced settings you can further refine your search - I suggest doing this and ticking available appointments only, but you can also select dates and/or times which suit you to further narrow it down. Once you find the appointment you want just select it and that’s it!
It really comes into its own if your session has been cancelled at late notice as you can go in and search for an alternative appointment. This happened to me this week and I found one lone appointment (probably a cancellation) to book three days later than the original appointment.

Great little app that makes arranging an appointment to donate blood so convenient and easy from wherever you are. It is clear and straightforward to use, shows you what sessions are available at locations near you and allows you to book the time best suited to your timetable and lifestyle.

It works
Only gave 3 stars because I think the app can be negative I had the test to give blood and was 134 and the cut off was 135 so was told to have a break before my next donation to let my iron get back up. That’s all fine.
Then the app puts that in suspended and loads exclamation marks and warning symbols on the home screen on the app
Really made me never want to give blood again as I felt I had done something wrong.
My iron was low because I give blood and just need a break but the app made me feel like I had done something wrong.

Finally the app is easy to use!
I have given blood for many years and when I was unable to book my next session at the previous one I was really a bit annoyed. I tried using the app but had no luck but having persisted and reset my password several times, this time, I used it easily. The only reason for the 4 not 5 stars is a personal preference - face recognition to log in.

Fantastic App
I have used this app for the last 9 months and for 3 blood donations. It has worked every time for booking donation appointments, maintaining appointments and showing me my donation record. It also can add a
Calendar entry in your diary which fab. I like the count down to your next donation and the alerts to NHS blood donation needs. At the time in writing COVID-19 has just been declared a pandemic and hospitals want to stock up blood before travel restrictions or sickness reduce stocks. The alerts encourage your to get involved. It also has the address of the donation centre which is handy wish it could go to maps as a button but you can paste the postcode in easily enough.

Waste of time.
This app is a complete waste of time. I tried to log in, but have forgotten my password. When attempting a reset, it says I've failed the security check. Rather remarkable since it's asking for information I've had all my life!! So, thinking that I might have to re register I tried this avenue. Now it says I've got to use a different email address because the main one is already in use. I haven't got another e mail address. Ten minutes of my life wasted. You'd think as they're so short of blood they'd at least make it easy for people to navigate the app. And, by the way, I have given over 90 units of blood so you do know who I am.......

Easy to mange and some cool extras
Found out my blood type the day after my appointment with the app! Loved the little video about who can receive my blood (and which types I can receive).
Already used it to book, cancel and rearrange an appointment (and then book my second!) and it all works really, really well.

Web page a little slow in load. However they did state there were issues and they were aware and looking into this.
The dates offered for the venue do seem to be at odds with itself.
I can donate in January, but, there are no sessions at my preferred centre until March. This I find very disappointing as the time of the next donation has now been extended. Very poor in my opinion.

Helping others made simple.
Giving blood to help others couldn’t be easier, considering raising money’s takes a lot more time and effort which isn’t so easy holding a job and family down, so an hour or less out of my life just donating blood can take all that time and effort away but still contribute massively to help others in otherwise life threatening circumstances, for me it’s a no brainier I’m glad to be of service for others in a way that’s not that taxing and the staff are great it’s quick and relatively pain free at the cost of a little sting and then a warm or cold drink and a little snack and that’s that you can help lots of sick adults and children.

OK but could be significantly improved
As I am unable to attend my next appointment I want to cancel it and book another on the first available convenient date at one of my two closest convenient venues (which are not necessarily the closest to me). I already have these 2 venues, and only these 2, as my favourites.
1. I have 2 favourite venues, but when I wanted to choose one, description only shows “Twickenham” for both, so this needs to distinguish between them. Better short description needed.
2. Even when I choose one, I’m still offered several other venues and have to choose a favourite again!
3. Would be useful to show me next available dates, in date order, for both my favourites, so I can choose soonest convenient.
4. I use app on my iPad so would also be useful to be able to use the app in landscape mode.

Slick blood session at Cranleigh
Having given blood for a while one is always happy to give up an hour to give blood. When on the odd occasion all the stars align and you are in and out of the session within 45 minutes you want to reiterate the fantastic service you get. The staff at Cranleigh are professional, good humoured and run a very slick operation. Well done the Blood Donation service, you are a credit. Thanks for making it possible.

I really easily registered with the NHS app which was my first aim. In doing this I then got offered the opportunity to Give Blood.
This has been something I had given a lot of thought to and when I clicked on to register it all unfolded in a very simple and easy to explain fashion. Which was good!
I’m now looking forward to the opportunity to help someone in need. I hope very much this is the case.

Easy way to organise being a good citizen
I have given blood since I was old enough but had a big gap as I found it hard to get appointments and remember them! But this app takes all the hassle out of it! It reminds you when you last gave blood, when you can give next and access all available venues and appointments. Love it !

Very low budget
Based on reviews it clearly isn’t the case for every user, but for me (iPhone 7 and iPad Air 2 using latest software and app version) it is glitchy, slow, and difficult. The idea is far better than paper forms or calling the helpline, but I can’t count the number of times I’ve wanted to book a session, gotten fed up with the app not running smoothly, not acknowledging my search criteria, not filtering out upcoming sessions for which there are no available appointments, and closed the app, leaving me forgetting about it for another few months. Needs some more investment please.

Brilliant app, brilliant!
The app gives you a huge range of venues within a drive and it all depends if you’re willing to travel to do your bit and give what you can/want. Time slots and bookings done at the push of a button and takes the stress away from worrying about what needs to be done. Reminders can easily be set up to remind you or alternatively just do one yourself on your phone. Brilliant, simple, efficient and easy. Great app!

Works well and doesn’t do loopy things like the website
Works well without any glitches and is a time saver. An improvement that would help me would be to be able to search an area for venues more widely than the present choices which could offer, for example, within 10 miles of home or work. As someone who is in and out and therefore has limited weeks in which to donate, the ability to snag a slot in a wider geographical area would help. Another help would be a seamless link to public transport links to the venue (+ a local coffee shop, pub, grocery store would be both useful and potential revenue stream). Just saying.

Quick and easy way to make appointments
This app is easy and quick to use to make donation appointments. It also has a lot of useful information on the process, what to expect and how to check if you can donate. All of this plus a record of your donations and a great view of how your donation moves through to being issued. Well done!

Great app - makes the whole process so easy
This app is a great success and makes the whole process of booking appointments very simple. I am able to rebook my next appointment whenever I remember as the app just offers you an appointment at your favourite location (or any other that is handy for you) at the first available opportunity after the minimum time you should wait between donations. Choose your time and bish, bash, bosh - it’s done! If it turns out that appointment doesn’t work nearer the time, it is very simple to rebook. It also stores your donor number and other helpful info. Really impressed with this app. I recommend it!

Unable to load.
It’s obviously an amazing app in the respect of in just a few clicks and appointment is made to then allow you to make a difference on an amazing scale. But..
I don’t know if anyone else has been having this issue but a lot of the time on mine it won’t load things and just says oops something has gone wrong. It’s just irritating because sometimes it takes so many attempts to book and appointment and if I’m busy I don’t have the time to keep trying so I potentially miss an appointment I could have booked and gone to.
But apart from that it’s a great app, so easy to navigate and when it loads it’s quick and easy to book an appointment.

This app is a must if you’re a donor
This is so easy and convenient to use. You can see what appointments are available near you, book the time convenient for you, see how many times you’ve given, when you last donated etc. It’s so easy and they text you reminding of your appointment... very handy if you’re like me and forget! Best app I have and you’re helping to save lives, an absolute must.

App works great, waiting times could be better
The app works fine but finding an appointment within 2-3 months is near impossible. As a new registration, eager to get involved the long wait is disappointing (but limited spaces are understandable). If only there was some way to speed up bringing in new joiners or get them in ahead of a donation to check blood type and then move them in the priority list based on type. The much needed O and B donors could be unknown and passing up weeks trying to find an appointment.

Really slow and buggy
Of course because we are all donors we work through the buggyness and delays for the spinning wheel, but I can’t help wondering how many donations are lost due to people just giving up. Much more importantly the bad design of the booking elements probably means people are not coming back to donate as early as they could. There are 6 or 7 viable locations around where I live to donate and finding out which one has a date as close to the one I need is a real struggle.
This app could be a lot easier, a lot slicker and a lot more intuitive (on the booking location/date) and that would lead people to use it more. The app could really work to advertise your particular blood group stockpile figures and encourage people to donate again as soon as they can.

Why bother to book
The whole point of booking a particular time slot is so you can plan your day. With this in mind why are donors who just drop in seen before booked donors. I was booked in today at a specific time but eight drop in donors were seen before me. I was eventually seen over half an hour later. It makes a mockery of the system. I know we need all the donors we can get but I think regular donors who take the time to book should not be treated this way. Rant over.

Great development
Great idea by the nhs blood service, by using this service I’ve been able to arrange regular donations again. The day after giving blood you are able to book your next donation which is very handy as they’ve stopped taking bookings during donation times. It’s great how the app shows you all donation points local to you especially as they stopped doing donations at my local public hall!
The only thing that I would change is that you are only able to make one booking at a time, for me it would be useful to be able to book at least two donations in advance!

Its ok
Its does the job, but..
When i log in it doesn't do anything i have to quit and go in again- took me a few minutes to work this out.
When i clock on lacation, its not clear in Nottingham which centre i have picked to donate at.
They are then pointlessly split into different half days.
I would like to be able to press donate, it know i only donate at one and then show me a list of times for today and tomow then future dates, which would obviously bring up times if the user presses on them

A very useful application!!
This app makes donating blood so much easier from start to finish. To begin with it tells you information about previous donations, your blood type and who can receive your blood. It also tells you after giving when you are next able to safety give blood which otherwise is something you must work out yourself. It is so easy to book an appointment using this app, you can search where and when you want to donate which a lot of the time is so convenient to be able to do.

Very useful app!
Great app! 👍 Have been using it for years. It is a huge help to donors and since I started using it, I give blood regularly. It is so easy to use, and there is nothing easier to book or re-book appointment at the last minute or just simply cancel it. It also gives info on countries and how long cannot you give blood if you visited them. History of my donations is also helpful. I wish more countries had a such a great app!
