Money oriented from the start

I appreciate the museum is free to enter, however having only downloaded the app for the map, I was disappointed to see that you have to pay to unlock even this basic information.

Everything is hidden behind in app purchases (which is always underhand) and without paying the whole app is completely useless.

No audio

App billed as same as the rentalable guide but you don’t have to return. Well, there’s no audio with this, which was my primary reason to download and buy

You can't even see the names of the rooms in the map without paying for full version!

Rubbish app!

The museum is amazing and fantastic and everyone should visit but don't bother with the app. No tours, no audio, no guide. Ok if you are standing in front of something and want to know about it but you can read the notices next to the artifact for that info. I found it totally useless and expected more from the app. Which looks and gems several years old. Especially as I paid £2.99 for the full version

Wonderful app

I work at the British Museum and have used the app many times to guide visitors around the museum and to give them information about the objects on display. Highly recommend this app

Brush Museum

Avoid - even with the full version is it not up to date. Walking around the museum the app does not match the displays fully.

Rubbish without full version

The free version is not a fully functioning guide. It's more of a teaser. They might as well have just offered to sell the app at one go.

Useless without paying

Uses the cheap trick of being free but pointless unless you pay £2.99 to "unlock" most of the info - including half the map!! Difficult to use, no index/options etc to guide you. Downloading as we speak...

Poorly designed

A free app that forces you to purchase the full version if you want to do basic functions like use the museum map to ID what is where in the building. This is information that is free to anyone actually standing in the museum so is completely useless. Instead of using this app as an advert for the incredible collection of exhibits and attract additional visitors, the app is here purely to raise money. Avoid it a pick up a free leaflet when you get to the museum. A wasted opportunity.

New British Museum App:

Excellent & Comprehensive look at the BM without the walking! Highly recommended, but please ensure that you buy the upgrade, it is great value fora money. Well Done!

Ok but very poorly written

This app has the potential to be very interesting. Without meaning to sound arrogant or like someone obsessed with 'proper English', this is clearly an app written by someone to whom English is a second language. There is barely a description of an item in the entire app which does not feature some sort of strange phrasing or spelling which would never be used by a native speaker of English. Often all the words are valid but they do not work together as a sentence because tenses are mixed etc. This is the main thing that has put me off buying what could be an excellent app.

The previous version did exactly what was needed. Now the update is restricted and you'll have to pay for the 'upgrade' to see all the rooms again!

Superb app... Well done!

Great addon to the British museum experience... Would highly recommend it for anybody planning to visit the museum.. I particularly liked the search feature... Informative for people like me especially who like to know more about what's that they are seeing rather than casually stroll through... Best of all it's free... ( to the app developer - bravo! Get more such museum guides please)
