would love to properly review it but shpock is endlessly stuck trying to get my phones location... all support could do was repeat the FAQ steps - basically, have you tried switching it off and on again - all of which i had obviously tried.. this is a recent ios SE2020. waste of time...

Was a decent app to sell stuff on when it was free.
Now they’re just trying to get whatever money they can out of you like ebay!
U have to now pay a £1.99 monthly subscription to even be able to list items for sale and that’s just for the standard version, The premium is £5.
On top of that there never used to be ads, Now they pop up every 5 seconds.
Considering they have terrible customer base, Your better off on ebay!!
Don’t waste your time with this terrible selling site.

This app was cool when it started, now it’s full of bugs and there’s no help at all or easy enough to find. Constant says add information when you try to post an add when you have filled every section possible with all relevant info. They also now charge you to post motor vehicles. Must of sold to big tech.

Love this app I have sold so many unwanted goods. No fees unlike eBay and everything sells eventually with no need to keep relisting. Obviously get some people who like to mess you about which is why I think it is important to leave people reviews. I honestly don’t see how anyone can moan about Spock at the end of the day it is a free ap allowing people to search for goods locally.

Used to be my go to place for buying and selling but severely lost its way, to many pop up ads that if you briefly catch take you away from the app!! Almost impossible to browse it, search function/location may as well not be there, search for an item and set to 5 miles brings stuff up the other end of the country. Shame, had the prospect to being a very good App but barely use now and Im not alone in thinking this, all my family and frienda agree and dont use it any more

Shpock is a fantastic platform for buying and selling items that you don’t need and the best thing about it it’s free. You just have to be on your guard against fraudsters trying to make money out of hard earning people.
The one thing that really annoys me is the fact you cannot get in touch with a seller by name, this would be a great asset to a great website.

Version 8.87.0
This app is full of fake items and FAKE REVIEWS - it is weakly regulated and their buyer guarantee is only as good as their will to chase it up, or made useless by the (very frequent) bugs in the app that make the in-app purchase system obsolete.
They also no longer support PayPal - a bit suspicious, no?
Do yourself a favour and stick to the trusted apps such as eBay, which actually uses PayPal and has a long-standing reputation for sticking up for buyers.
As other reviewers note, this app is now full of scammers and there is extremely poor customer service. The app is outdated and badly supported.

Been on Shpock since 2016 and used to sell so much. Now it’s just a massive waste of time even trying. Loads of scammers, and general time wasters. Items don’t get interest despite getting it on other apps (so it’s not the items). Sales can be months apart (e.g I had two sales 8 months apart in 2021/22 and the one in 2022 was the only sale for the year on shpock). Seriously thinking of just giving up with it now. The days of shpock are long gone

I have trouble with using this method versus Ebay , Vinted ,Gumtree. The messages seem to be in 2 places , I can’t find my way easily back to the message thread. Buying is fine if it’s local and you inspect and pay cash , but remotely the “ wallet “ thing I can’t get it to work and it comes up with an error when I try to pay by credit card. The buyers protection is in excess of 10% £6.55 on a £53 purchase

Not worth your time. Used it a bit a few years ago but it’s full of scams so I stopped using it.
Now when you open the app they want your consent to use and sell all your data to hundreds of companies with no easy way to turn it off, never seen an app do that before. Deleting and forgetting about this failed project.

A waste of time unless you’re willing to pay big money to promote your items.

I was recommended to Shpock from a relative, explaining the potential of easy sales, zero fees and a drastically reduced chance of scammers compared to eBay. After trying for two months I can confidently declare Shpock as an utter waste of time, unless you are willing to pay what amounts to a substantial amount of money to promote your items, in the hope of a sale from what is clearly a minuscule pool of buyers.
The potential of easy collection is there but when your items are cycled away into a barrage of images and listings, and constantly pushed down against people paying for the promotion, it’s very difficult to get spotted on the app and to achieve a sale. The search function is terrible and doesn’t even match to simple words in the listing. To add to this the reviews of sellers detail horror stories of sellers selling items then being blanked by buyers without reprimand.
Clearly there is little regulation or IP blocking punishment on Shpock, and with the masses of spam and a jumble of listings akin to a car boot sale, it’s not worth my time and all the listings I made sold on eBay within a week of test listings. There are scammers on eBay but if you provide enough photos, provide enough detail and information, send by tracked and verify delivery, eBay has your back every time.

Horrible customers service.

They care just about money, that’s what I feel
And they asked for documents like they are a council institution.
Very bad.
They keep people money in the wallet even when the buyer gets the item and confirm that everything is ok.
I prefer Marketplace on Facebook, seriously I can’t recommend this app anymore.
There’s many apps to sell and by staff better than Shpock.

Version 9.0.0
I don’t mind mind the fact that there are ads every where - the problem is that if I even touch an ad by mistake while I’m swiping, it will open in the App Store straight away. This happens when swiping in the home page and when swiping through pictures of any item also, which is unbelievably annoying.
How are you supposed to use the app like that?? I can only see two reasons why they would do that - 1 they get paid for every single time you open an ad. 2 they go to great lengths in order to get premium subscribers.

It’s OK…but.

 –
MidnightMinstrel

It’s OK, but There are two major flaws with Shpock. One , when someone has made an offer and you have accepted and sent them a message saying so, until that person confirms the deal you can not get back in touch with them until they do, nor can you edit the item , so you are locked into a deal until the other person confirms, they have up to 3 days to do this. Several times I have had time wasters who don’t confirm and I or Shpock need to cancel the deal, in this time It has stopped any genuine buyers from making a genuine offer, and so a time waster has cost me a sale. It would be better if you were able to chase up an offer and ask them to either confirm or cancel a deal if they fail to confirm, or maybe you just want to stay in contact until they do, but you can’t. Also, Shpock do not seem to check and block obvious scam artists once they have been reported. Shpock seems to be infested with these. Luckily I can spot them a mile off, but others can’t. Another thing is, and this is not necessary a fault of Shpock, for every 1 genuine buyer you get, you have to endure about 10 time wasters, scam artists, and idiots who deliberately make silly offers just to be mischievous or think your stupid or desperate enough to accept. I have actually sold more items more successfully on other sites rather than Shpock. Fortunately I have nearly sold all the items I need to sell now as I am moving house in a week, we’ll just give what’s left to a charity shop.

Customer Success Agents needs revamping

21st May 2023 Absolutely zero sales for almost a year now despite lots of frequent new listings 🤦🏻‍♀️
23rd March 2022 Messaged to their Instagram and Facebook page but no one bothers to reply. Seriously social media accounts are a representation of your organisation and if nobody bothers to manage it, it’s a real shameful reflection on your company and management. Seriously not impressed! @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Update : Someone in Shpock management helped me to resolve issue on 7th July 2021. Thank you so much for that! However, CRM quality control still needs to be in place and would be great if they implement a rating/feedback after each case is closed so that user experience can be shared and gauged for improvements. Original review with 1 star : Customer success agents are pretty useless. I’ve sent numerous emails with supporting documents. Messaged a few of their managers and nothing’s been done and nobody cares! I’m utterly disheartened now after one month of shenanigan and as a reputable seller that sold over 110 items with 90 positive feedback, I’ll not hesitate to abandon this app if no one from Shpock will be helping a good seller on their app! Which is a total shame as you need all the good sellers you have!

I haven’t used this platform for a while but decided to try it today to list an item to sell. Filled out all the details, selected categories etc but when clicked on the ‘Sell’ button, Nothing! nothing flagged up to say I did something incorrectly or missed anything out.(which I hadn’t ). I have previously used this platform before to sell successfully and now it’s not working. Went on to the Contacts page and haven’t had any response as of yet! Absolutely ridiculous service. With the shoddy service you get with zero help, no wonder most people have actually moved away from here and gone to use Vinted instead. Far better platform and much easier to navigate overall. Visually better and user friendly. Also I noticed today when browsing that there’s alot of sellers who are selling replica items? Why is this not being monitored and checked before it’s being listed like other platforms? I can see why people are reluctant to use this anymore cause i’m pretty sure buyers have zero protection on here. Absolutely disgusting

I should be able to see how many people has seen the each item that I list. Some buyers says they'll come and get the item after deal is made but they are not. Shpock needs to do something about this because it's wasting my time and frustrating. So that they know if they don't turn up they still have to make payment or some of the payment I should be able to delete a message that I send through offer section. We should be able to crop pictures of the items we want to sell Also I should be able to look what things are specific seller is selling by going to page that seller is selling and then type name of the item I want Also I should be able to change my profile name because you may marry or want to change the name in the future. After selling an item I should be able to remove and no other people should see that item in my profile Also I should be able to relist an item that I delisted.

I do t think I would ever pay to be a supporter

Every time I list something it’s a waste of time I get spammed by fake buyers that take my item off market place because they commit to buy but they are actually fake and then a real person comes along and the item is “sold” when you figure out you have sold your item to a fake person and contact the real person back they have already bought what they needed! Iv never been part of a marketplace that has so many fake buyers it’s such a waste of time and can consume valuable time that you won’t be able to get back! shpock you really need to sort this situation out it’s not good and it’s not making your app a good place to be! It’s extremely frustrating! I have bought things off of shpock and Iv listed quite a few things but none have EVER sold due to being spammed by fake buyers and in the end I just loose interest because you can’t really trust that it’s a real buyer.. as soon as it says the distance between you is far that is a red flag indicator that you item is going to get clogged up in space and become unbuyable .. I don’t understand why or what the point of this fake buying system is what the hell do they get out of it ????? They certainly don’t get any money from me or get my product im trying to sell.. Iv never used and all to sell with such negative success it’s terrible .. had it been a better spam
Free environment I would have supported but no way would I support this app in its current state 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

Dear all readers,
If you know what’s good for you, you will steer well clear of Shpock. A complete disgrace to business which is flooded with con artists and scammers. The company constantly makes excuses and updates terms of contract to facilitate these operations. Don’t be swindled into believing that this is for your benefit. Should anything go wrong, Shpock will always side with the seller. Shpock customer service is so worthless that it might as well not exist. Forget about their so called ‘Buy Protection’. You have to pay an extra fee on each item which hooks you into false sense of security but not to fear because it’s completely useless. Remember I said that Shpock will always side with the seller so either way for you it’s a lose-lose regardless of if you had buy protection or not. If you use the app and get conned, can’t say that I didn’t warn you. I honestly don’t have a clue as to why this company is still in operation surely by now Trading Standards should have intervened or someone should have sued Shpock.

Useful, yes. Horrible to navigate. A nighmare to chat in.

To sell things is very useful. It’s just such a convoluted mess when I’m messaging with a buyer, for every time I enter the chat the app first has to load the sales page of the item before quickly moving over to the chat. The same when exiting. When being in the chat and writing to the buyer, and s/he sends a message, the most infuriating little popup comes saying the buyer has sent a new message. If I click cancel I can vontinue to write my message, but their new message won’t load at all. If I click View the chat will refresh and I can see their message, but everyhing I wrote will be wiped. Completely horrendous. Why can’t it just work like any normal chat where new messages simply arrive and show without interrupting my writing?
Oh yeah, and the notifications. When first I see a new message, it can take several minutes before I get the notification. This is making me confused and thinking that there are new messages that just hasn’t loaded in the chat, because I keep getting notifications about old messages for minutes after they’ve arrived and been read.

WOST Selling Experience I’ve EVER had!

I’ve already deleted the app and I’d advise people to NEVER use this app!
I was planning on selling some items belonging to my grandmother. Clothes that no longer fit & some jewellery that she doesn’t want. 1 item was a Pandora bracelet with over 10 charms. Retail the bracelet & charms would’ve been £325. I had it on for £100. A buyer offered £70. I accepted. He received the item and raised an issue about postage because I had postage at £6 and it only cost £4.85 (I couldn’t print the £4.60 Royal Mail label at home & and had to buy another. So I over £9, in the end). The issue stopped me from getting my money. This went on for 2 weeks. He then claimed that he hadn’t gotten the item!
Shpocks replies were all on the buyers side! So I had to then show that he was lying (he’s honestly a scammer & I’d say he’s done it before & will do it again!) by using screenshots of the chat that show the John. J had his item.
DON’T SELL TO JOHN. J. HES A CHANCER & A SCAMMER!

I’ve been using this app for some time and sold / bought quite a few items. You do get people messing, saying they will collect items then not turn up but this isn’t the norm. My gripe with this app and the reason I’ve given 3 stars is because of all the scammers on the site and the inaction of Shpock support to remove items when reported.
I’ve been looking for an iPhone 13 Pro Max which is obviously a very high value item approx £800. The amount of listings that are on new accounts with no feedback is alarming. Yes I know that we all have to start somewhere but look deeper at the advert ie advertises as new still sealed 512gb phone, the picture shows a genuine box but the rear clearly shows it’s not sealed. Also zoom in the box shows a 128gb phone, check the imei number and it comes up as an activated phone 3 months old. I’ve even seen one that was showing as blacklisted. So I report said listings to support and a full day later they are still on sale.
I can’t see Shpock progressing any further until they put a system in place to reduce the amount of scammers and maybe force sellers to verify themselves.
Having said all this, if you are selling low value items it’s one of the best apps out there

The principal of Shpock is brilliant, easy way of selling your unwanted items. The app though is useless for those looking to buy specific items. I’ve recently been looking to buy a roof box for my car so turned to Shpock to see what was on offer. When searching i searched “roof box” and sorted by “newest listed” the top listings were a steam press iron, slush puppy machine, a serving tray, kitchen tap and so on. Not one of these mentions Roof Box in the title nor in the listing anywhere so why does it bring them up? The same happens sorting it by any other method, lowest price, closest listing etc. Petty I know but the frustration of seeing all these irrelevant items is ridiculous, what’s the point of having a search function if it’s not actually showing you what you searched.
A lot of listings are very old and no longer available however the sellers decide not to remove them. I think Shpock should deactivate all listings after a 2/3 month period. Users can relist them if still available.

Gone seriously downhill

If I had reviewed this app 4 years ago I would have given it 5 stars. It used to be a boot sale app: you would open it and it would show everything for sale nearby. Scrolling down, eventually it would show items listed a little bit further away from you. Now you open it and it shows items from all over the country, and you have to specify to sort by location every single time you open it. When you do this, it doesn’t show when the items listed are getting a further distance from you, you now have to look at each item to find out.
Another problem is that the prices people are asking are extortionate. Far more than you’d expect on gumtree or eBay. Almost as much as new. Sellers were always a bit unrealistic with their pricing, but this is beyond the pale now.
These problems are reflected in the fact that not much seems to be for sale. You used to be able to open it up and see hundreds of random things for sale near you. Now there’s only 10-15 things, and a lot of it looks very samey.
Finally the app seems to be encouraging you to search for items nationwide, before looking nearby. I used to see this app as a convenient way to sell cheap items that weren’t worth eBaying. But the developers have totally ruined it. I doubt anyone sells on here much at all now.

A lot of annoyances in the app

First of all, this review is not about Shpock’s service, just the app.
I’ve sold quite a few things on Shpock and it’s generally been fine, but the app itself is just extremely annoying. Whenever you get a new chat for an item you’ve sold, it appears under Inbox > Notifications instead of Chats (which you have to go to FIRST before you can get to the Notifications). When you click on a chat or something that you’ve already interacted with, you still get the congratulations pop up that you’ve sold the item and have to go through the whole “next steps” routine even though you’ve already been chatting with the person you’ve sold to.
Noticed another today that once an item is sold and the deal gets cancelled, the item isn’t automatically relisted, very annoying. Overall the service is good for the most part but there seems to have been little thought to the UX in the app, it could do with work.

Such a shame

I mostly used Shpock to buy baby items and furniture for my new place. I had made 10/11 purchases via Shpock in the past, and suddenly found my account was restricted, and I was never told why - despite providing my email address 8 times in the required box over 6/7 weeks.
Eventually I gave up on the terrible service and requested account closure. This was also a very long process, eventually resulting in a support staff member emailing me that in order to close account, Shpock required me to send hard copies of my ID to an address in Vienna?! I firmly disagreed to this as I didn’t have to provide any ID proof when I set up the account so they have nothing to check it against (people use aliases/monikers online all the time?) and immediately I received a response that they would close my account ‘manually’.
Really a massive shame because I did like the accessibility and purpose of it app itself and also recommended it to others, but the restriction, vague privacy policy and closure process really put me off using it again in future.

It used to be a very good app

This was my favourite app. But not anymore. It has become useless.
First, it stopped being a local/ car boot type of app. The core of what you were. Now every time I search it shows items miles away by default with no option for this to stay local in my search. It’s good to have the option to expand search but...it doesn’t work. When I arrange by distance, it shows random items like cars...when I’m searching for a phone for example.
Constant notifications- every day I receive stupid notifications for nothing relevant for me with no option to stop them. I have to click and review the notification so it disappears. All this does is to annoy. I can’t tell apart if someone has messaged for an item I’m selling or it’s just the next Shpock notification.
Also, people can leave you bad feedback just because. I am proud of having high rating but I’ve had cases where apology and trying to resolve issue with buyer still leaves me with unfair rating even for items for free/£1. Nobody monitors whether the feedback is accurate or having the ability to object of received feedback.
As a shopping app...it doesn’t work simply because I can’t use to find items where I am, or sort them by distance. I used to buy and sell all the time on Shpock but now - I can hardly find anything to buy and I don’t sell as before. I believe I lot of people stopped using it too.

Was my preferred app the sell unwanted things but some frustrating changes were made: the ridiculous use of ad space in conjunction with extra scroll interactions revealing huge profile headers almost completely prevents your ability to see the actual content properly, specifically within the profile tab. I don’t use the app as much as before because I simply don’t want to deal with this. Also the nav bar often disappears so I find myself closing and reopening the app a lot.
Another thing I dislike is that Shpock doesn’t allow users to delete posts of sold items from their public profiles. When contacting them regarding this I was told it is for our benefit in building trust. Whilst I understand I do wish we could make that choice ourselves. Or at least have it so that the full posts of sold item are less/not accessible (especially important in the odd case that personal info was accidentally shared which now can no longer be edited out). If I had known that something I listed as “sold elsewhere” would live on my public profile forever, I would not have chosen that option. Now I always make sure to delist for other reasons.

I think is app is great and the platform has great potential. I’ve had two successful High value sales that went smoothly end to end. Payment via Shpock wallet went perfectly. BUT, the platform needs to introduce better protection from scammers. There are just too many asking for an offline sale at a price above asking, via PayPal or bank transfer or to email them on gmail or contact by what’s app. 90% of these are scammers
So my simple advise is do not get involved. Here’s some things Shpock could do. 1)The platform should block all users and messages asking to transact online. 2) The platform can verify users akin to ebay 3) add user preferences to block contact from fake sellers. Here’s what you can do: 1) Do not respond to requests to transact offline. If an offer is too good to be true, it usually is. No genuine buyer will buy your item for more than asking. Insist for payment by Shpock wallet for delivery sales - as long as you have described the item correctly, the process works file. And deal with buyers with positive feedback only. Good luck.

I love Shpock but...

Contact is rubbish! There’s no way to say when you are going to send an item out by and if you don’t manage to do it by their time then they cancel the deal. Even if it’s already agreed with the buyer because the seller is ill and can’t leave the house because of, Um I don’t know *cough*covid*cough* and then the day isolation finishes is a Sunday which is the day the stupid boys have decided you need to post the thing by and then one can do anything because you can’t contact anyone because there’s no way to and even if there was, it’s Christmas, so... yeah it’s great if you want your contracts to be ruled by bots who can’t even be programmed to take a break at Christmas and who you can’t tell that you have agreed with the seller that their wares are going to be a little later than planned. And now I can’t send the item the next day because OH THE DEAL HAS BEENCANCELLED and they have been refunded.

I love apps. I have and use a lot. I’ve even designed a few myself. But this one, while serving a use for people, prangs users with notifications on everything it can; to bring you back as often as possible and makes it hard to slim your choices to what you actually need - it’s an all or nothing conundrum, either miss a sale, or let them notify you of a sale and a tonne of other unwanted notifications and solicitations. And marking them unread is several clicks to remove the red alert icon. And the adverts that pepper the feed make it feel like there are more paid for products being blasted at me than actual users selling their unwanted items (which there probably are). Shpock has a long way to go before it’s an app for the new world. It’s a base product stuck using dated manipulation tricks scraped from the production floor at Facebook. These will lose it credibility over time as it desperately scrambles to make you look at it.

Site itself works ok. When I first tried it there just weren’t enough people locally using it for it to be effective. This time tho I’ve sold three things so far and it’s been a fairly smooth experience.
Until recently (11/20) I’ve received multiple messages apparently coming from the Shpock no reply email notification address. Each time the sender offers the asking price and for me to contact them via their personal email address. The address is usually a gmail one that’s either gobbledygook or different to the name of their Shpock account. When I go to the site or the app there’s no record of these messages.
And I’ve received similar via their actual messaging service too. Person says they want to buy, but wants to be contacted via their personal email etc.
So - maybe try Gumtree or Preloved rather than Shpock, but if you do use it then register with an email you’ve set up just for that purpose.

Shpock is good, but still needs work.

I have sell two items with the Secure Delivery feature, which is a great idea! It’s something that is currently missing in the second-hand market and it’s very convenient protection for both the seller and the buyer. However, payments, ugh! Payments might be convenient for the buyer, just quickly fill out the form with your credit card details and payment done. For the seller it’s a nightmare, an extremely long process.. not only you need to wait that the app process the buyer payment, once the funds are release and ready for transfer you have to wait additional 3/5 working days for the funds to be available in your bank account. If Shpock integrates a paypal wallet, this app would be perfect! Like PayPal transfers funds to my bank account within seconds, why can’t Shpock do the same? It’s very frustrating and I probably in the future will try to sell on alternative platforms.

Moving house and need to get rid of loads. Had a couple of bad experiences on eBay so tried schpock. Easy to list and love the fact there’s no fees if buyer collects. Much prefer a local collection, cash on collection. Have to accept there are a few time wasters and people who want something for nothing but for the majority it’s been fine. Did get caught out when posting and selling through PayPal with fees from schpock and PayPal and postage more than calculated so know to watch for this now and get buyer to pay me direct. Also had a couple of enquires from overseas, so learnt from this. A couple of suggestions, can there be a toys category and a way to postpone / delist a listing when you go on holiday so you can then easily relist when you’re back rather than having to start again. When you’ve got 20+ items listed it’s a bit of a faff to relist everything. Everything is gradually selling and love the kerching sounds when a sale is made 😃

I originally found SHPOCK great until it comes to sorting out problems with buyers I’ve bought loads of items without a problem, but I’ve found your not good at sorting issues out I bought a echo dot that did not work asked for my money back but the seller blocked me asked you to intervene but all you did was send a message to them just saying we know of a problem that was it I’ve still got the item and had no refund of £20 that might not sound a lot to you but it is to me as I live on disability money and Im having the same problem bought a water fountain for my cat which arrived broken contacted the seller who agreed to refund but they have the item back and still I have no refund I paid £15 +£5 p@p which they are refusing to pay me back and yet again all you have done is sent a message saying there is a problem and we should sort it out, again not much use to me in getting my money back that’s £40 in total I am down so I think I should stop using SHPOCK and go back to EBAY at least with them you get a full refund unlike SHPOCK who doesn’t give a dam

I was given the runaround over two sales by someone not serious about committing to a time to collect them in exchange for the cash, despite several polite and diplomatic attempts to request that we agreed a mutually good time (which were meant with radio silence, and otherwise I would get messages when I wasn’t available to ask “are you here now”).
I tried to block the person from making me any further offers after the last-chance timeframe I gave them was up and still hadn’t heard from them (didn’t want to leave them negative feedback as sellers can sometimes leave retaliation negative feedback back). I couldn’t because these two “sold” items hadn’t been “closed” in Shpock’s system, I relisted both items and immediately after, all the communications I had with the person vanished - and there’s no way you can search for them afterwards to block them.
This is a symptom of some diminishing returns I feel I’m experiencing with Shpock - there’s not really a robust enough infrastructure there to discourage timewasters or people playing silly games, so I’m quite disillusioned and will probably go back to using Gumtree.

For the most part this app is easy to use. Very quick and easy to upload items you want to sell.
Down side is that once people have “entered into a legally binding contract” after purchasing your item, they can get away with all sorts.. changing their mind, not bothering to respond to messages arranging collection, not turning up after arranging collection... ever. Even when you report the user they just get what seems like an automated message saying don’t forget to contact your seller... which they never respond to and then you end up having to relist the item! I sometimes wonder if it’s worth all the time I spend administering it, especially when you’re selling an item for a couple of quid and someone asks if you’ll accept half the amount and also wants you to deliver it!!!
Having said that, it’s a good place to get rid of all your unwanted stuff lol

I really prefer Sphock, it’s so much easier to buy/sell than other selling sites/apps. The app itself is really easy to use, you can upload an item within seconds. The way the app works means most of the things you sell or buy will be from people who live close by, meaning people come and pick up the item and pay you in cash (no selling fees or having to post etc). I’ve sold around 70 items and only posted 3, the rest have been bought by someone locally. You can even use the app to give things away for free that you just want out of the way!! You can rate each other once the transaction has taken place (you rate between 1-5 stars and can put a comment in) therefore if someone puts an offer in on an item you’re selling you can read their reviews before deciding whether to accept their offer. You can also negotiate a price privately.

Over the past few days I have dealt with a lot of disgusting users on the app. The main issue I have with the app is that lots of these users do not collect the item or they are the issue and still have the audacity to leave negative - 1 star reviews on our pages even though they are the problem makers and not us. To remove unjustified reviews from our page is not easy and i have emails shpock support many a time to which they do not respond to or help.
Moreover, I have had an experience on the app where I had paid for an item and that person did not post or send the item to me in the end. When this was reported, support team had done nothing also. However recently someone had bought an item from me which I had posted and everything. But I had left a 2star review on that buyers page as I had faced many problems whilst dealing with them . This person then reported my page and probably contacted the support team - my page got restricted and a lot of other things. When I messaged that person about why they had done all these things to me their response what that they were unhappy with my negative review. This just goes to show the bias on shpock - when there are actual and factual reviews being put up the support team have ‘time to deal with them and remove them’ but when horrible and false reviews go up and are reported they turn blind eyes.

Really easy to use and sell stuff.
Often I've found though that buyers confirma deal and simply change their minds without any form of contact. Telly annoying as you then have to trust the whole item.
Maybe a penalty for buyers who do that and maybe making it easier to relist the item by simply changing the status to available from sold if this happens world make it far better.
The prices for promoting items are unrealistic for most of the items I've sold as well, sometimes costing more than the actual item. Maybe a percentage would work better? Also the option to promote all your items for the days for a fixed price. I've been willing to pay something to promote my things but the high prices have put me off.

This app is really good and I have sold loads of items on the app. However I think there’s some small improvements that need to be made. One is that the layout of your own shpock account is really confusing and it’s hard to find things on your own page. I would like it if your own Shpock account had the same layout as buyers see. This would make it easier to find things to change prices and add pictures etc. Another tiny thing that I think should be changed is to have a makeup category as I sell and buy lots of makeup on my account and I find it difficult to find makeup through the fashion and accessories category as it’s mostly clothes. Also I think that once a person has reviewed something they should be able to remove the review or change it if they made a mistake. Other than them small details I think this app is great!

To be to be honest and trueful we need some more security measures at times because theirs good and bad people everywhere. When it comes to efficiency low cost fees this is s very good app it’s when you get time wasters and dishonest it spoils it for the genuine sellers and buyers . Your company is great just need more support for people who lose out on the item or cash because for example that happened to me 2 weeks ago. I won’t go into details but from now on I’m reluctant to send cash through the bank Paypal are the best your nearly always get your cash back. I really enjoy using this app. I use it mostly to buy and sometime to sell something that I don’t wear anymore or give stuff away for free . It is easy to use and most people are happy to post items so you can look further afield for things you really want. I suppose it would be nice to be able to communicate privately with a seller without having to make an offer each time just to be able to add the message in,and send an offer back and forth just so you can ask and answer questions regarding location etc which the seller may wish to keep private away from the shared comments section.
My advice to sellers is not to link your PayPal account as you invite extra charges then from schpock and PayPal.
It does involve trust with the seller and buyer, as personal détails are shared and money is exchanged... the star ratings help a lot. I
Like that you are prompted to review and rate a transaction and the other person cannot see it unless they rate and review. Feedback is always useful. If you send money to someone as a gift via PayPal then the seller will not be charged a fee, but then the buyer is then not covered should the package not get to them. I always request signed for post to help with the proof of postage.

I have used shpock a lot lately. I have always and still do use eBay for some things but shpock is great for odds and ends that you can’t be bothered to parcel up or aren’t worth paying the selling fees for. We’ve also used it to give away odds & ends from shed/kitchen clear outs - we hate sending things to landfill that aren’t really valuable to sell but someone may be able to use them - a great way of recycling! As with eBay you do get the odd user who is a timewaster but on the whole we have got some fabulous local bargains and bought from/sold to some lovely local people. It’s great! The only negative thing I’ve found is I used the PayPal option to post one item at the buyers request but the PayPal fees seemed mega high, even more so than eBay so I only sell for local collection now. But love it and use it pretty much every day!

I am not a very healthy person medically and I use this app as my therapy to reach out to other people by listing my items and even if it doesn’t get sold, I am still keeping busy. When my account was restricted based on an unfounded reason I went ballistic and removed everything from my listing and when my account is resolved my therapy will begin when I start listing again. There is never anyone to speak to because I called about 100 times when this happened, I was distraught that someone could just take away my joy just by pressing a button. It is unfair. Please do your findings on the reported item not the whole account.

So far so good

It’s been successful, quick & easy to use.
The only thing I wasn’t happy with is the way of communicating through the app at times (asking questions is open for anyone online to see so when u need to let’s say exchange email addresses or discuss/ask things individually u can’t - unless u click on “Make an Offer“ and with that the all too sensitive money question becomes applicable even though that can be unwanted or not yet desirable/necessary at that moment in time.
I.e. there should be a chat window/area and/or a messenger system in place where both buyers as well as sellers can send each other general mails
Also a reserve function rather than a single BUYING-AGREED-SOLD as there’s always sth that can happen and come in between. This has been causing sellers to delete the ad and put a new one up because the buyer couldn’t make it to the collection part as well as the other way around.
All of these are bound to upset and distress both parties unnecessarily which inevitably leads to 1⭐️ reviews 😟
To end on a more positive note: u meet a lot of different, interesting and most incredible people who you’d never have met otherwise. I’ve actually heard of friendships being built so yeah, a big 4 to the ⭐️🙌🏻👀😊

Notifications aren’t accurate

When I set notifications for search results and select ‘in current filters’, it doesn’t register that and notifies me of any item, anywhere (including out of this country), for any price, instead of within a certain distance from me and up to a certain price.
Also, people quite often take ages to reply, so I end up using other sites to buy things, people regularly never reply. Sometimes when I go to ask a seller if something is still available, I see that someone has already done that months ago and still not got a reply. There should be a time limit for items to be listed, say a month, then if something is still for sale, they can relist it. Then it keeps adverts more up to date and people don’t have to look through a lot more adverts for things that got sold ages ago but sellers haven’t bothered to avoid wasting time for others by marking their items as sold.

Quick and easy to use, most buyers are genuine, developer is responsive

We’ve been using shpock for over two years and prefer this platform to sell unwanted items, including technology, clothes and bric a brac. Its also great to be able to search locally for something you need and ask the seller questions before you visit to buy. The app is easy to use. Simply take a picture(s) of your item within the app, add a description, price it and click, its for sale. The majority of shpockers are honest and trustworthy. I like the opportunity to meet a buyer and receive cash - no fee to pay! I’m also happy to send items by post using paypal payment. Shpock instructs that when a deal is offered, accepted and confirmed it is legally binding. This is not true as some buyers will change their mind and fail to turn up for their items. Just re-list the sale and carry on. Be careful to only present your full address to buyers within the deal/offer dialogue of the app. All shpockers can see the open questions and answers section. Be firm with buyers about time frame for collection to minimise hassle. Shpock would improve if it provided an escrow service ie, hold a payment with an offer, requiring the buyer to have ‘skin in the game’. This would stop any time-wasting.

Useless app - still needs developing !

When I first started using it, was fine. But as you sell and buy more, I can see more problems arising from it.
I recently sold an item in which the person who agreed to buy the item didn’t reply for 10 days. And the only reason he replied on the 10th day is because i reported him as I had no choice so that I could relist the item back in Shpock. Because I reported him, his account got restricted therefore responded to me asking if I could cancel the deal as his account got restricted therefore he couldn’t sell. After I decided not to respond as I saw he had done this to plenty of people, he decided to reported me for no reason and said to Shpock that I wasn’t agreeing to complete the deal in which they decide to restricted my account. How stupid can this app be to allow him to report and restrict my account for this! I’m sure this has happened to plenty people and because of it I haven’t been able to use the app now over a week as the support team still haven’t got back to me.
App needs to have more brains! This type of thing shouldn’t happen. Poor app.

Great company - ideal format to sell your unwanted items. We are downsizing and could have ended up wasting hours at a car boot sale just to be offered derisory amounts, giving items away to unsuspecting friends who didn’t know what to do with them, giving items to charity but some to big to get to their shops ( fair to say quite a bit went to charity including the good one at the waste disposal) and ultimately throwing a lot away that somebody could have benefited from and we did throw a lot away before we found Shpock.
Once we did, it was easy to use fast response, quick sales and no hassle - strongly recommend you use it - amazing how many local people need what you don’t want and they get something at good value and you make some cash - so even before you get rid of something you dont want, give someone a chance to get a bargain Shpock It
Cheers

It would be handy if this were a boot sale app as advertised - unfortunately it’s just a less good version of eBay with not enough functionality to do what it says.
I put collection only in my posts, but people regularly make offers from the other end of the country and overseas. An option to restrict how far away a buyer can be would be great.
The communication has a lot of issues, aside from a not very user friendly interface, people often don’t respond - but I can’t blame them because I often don’t receive messages myself. I’ve regularly had to report people for making an offer then never hearing from them again.
There’s no guidance for people on how and what to post. I had someone be extremely rude to me because I asked questions such as ‘what size is this?’ against an item listed as ‘ladies top’. Given how poor the comms is (and accommodating for the fact that a lot of people are either stupid or lazy), making certain information on an item mandatory would be a huge help.
The categories you can list items under are quite restrictive and it’s sometime not clear where items should be listed. There’s also no category for beauty and cosmetics, adding this would be helpful.
With a bit more effort to making some user friendly features that actually facilitate buying and selling properly, this could be great. Right now, it’s not.

GREAT WAY TO SELL UNWANTED ITEMS WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY FOR LISTING THEM LIKE EBAY !!

Loving this app ! So easy to list and sell all those unwanted items and it cost you nothing !
The ONLY downside about it is that you do get those idiots who offer to buy your items and don’t follow through on the deal even after they’ve accepted it ! ( I’ve had that experience ) But Shpock staff are quick to SUSPEND those idiots who think it’s funny to do this as Shpock done it for me despite repeated warnings to the time waster. I do think it might be a good idea if Shpock add a “ warning “ notice of some kind to EVERYONE, for example, just before a possible buyer accepts a deal, should they then ignore requests for payments or refuse to complete the deal, they WILL be SUSPENDED or BANNED, This WILL act as a deterrent for those who think it’s acceptable to do this. I’ve only experienced that situation once. TOP MARKS to Shpock for a fantastic site !! 👍🏼🥇🏆 I’d HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM to EVERYONE !!

You’ll hear no complaints whatsoever from myself regarding this user friendly application dedicated to helping one shift their unwanted items, clothing and the occasional dead human carcass. The Mexican version of Shpock, namely ‘Shpockoza’, is an ingenious way to buy and/or sell your unwanted and/or surplus narcotics such as cocaine and/or even hire out an accommodating prostitute for the day.
Shpock actually takes its name from the Mexican brothels of the early 1800s that were once a common sight in the searing heat of Mexico’s desert land. Weary travellers could stop by one of these establishments on their journey in order to escape the crippling heat of the day and to ‘Shpockoza’ a working girl of their choice. The literal translation of ‘Shpockoza’ to English means ‘to enter’ or ‘to put forward’.

Great App, some end users bring it down though!

The Shpock app itself is really good and well thought out - it's intuitive, relevant and ergonomic in almost every area. The only downside to this app is nothing to do with the build of the app and everything to do with the end users who are using it. I would say it's roughly 50/50 on whether you are going to get a trustworthy and responsible, honest and reliable buyer/seller and the rest of the time it's going to be people who just literally waste everyone's time and don't seem to care about it. This is a shame because it's so easy to upload a new item for sale within literally seconds, but then to spend sometimes weeks or months selling it because you've had to relist the item several times due to people saying they are buying it then not turning up or cancelling the sale altogether - there is no real incentive to the buyer to carry on to the end of the transaction if they so happen to just change their minds, I understand that this is sometimes good for everyone but St the same to.e, I tink it would be better if "repeat" incidents by the sesame buyer/seller are then treated differently and some sort of eating or penalty fee are then levied on those users, that would surely help to weed out the non-serious users?... Anyway... Rant aside as I said this app is brilliant for what it is intended for and is really easy to use even for the beginner level users out there.

I have been using this app a long while now & have mixed feelings. Firstly the staff are not helpful at all!!! If you have abuse from a buyer they just send you a message to resolve it with them.
Secondly buyers can give you negative feedback when they are the ones that do not collect items when a time & date is agreed & you wait for them to arrive.
Customers can continuously mess you around & keep leaving negative or abusive feed back & comments & when you contact the team who run it they do nothing to assist.
Thirdly the set up of the app when items are listed is awful it takes ages to scroll through your items to edit. Could this not be set up instead of a long list maybe multiple in a row?
Fourthly this app keeps crashing every now & then like the previous one.
Fifth why when searching for items these are then added to an alert list & keep popping up even though you have not clicked on anything for them to keep appearing?!
Six why do you have to write to Sphock if you wish to cancel & delete an account?! Surely if someone decides they no longer wish to have an account with you they can on an option.
I agree its simple to add items & great that it is free but feel that alot of updates & a better customer service team is needed.

I have used this app for a long time now and found it better for selling than eBay. Your listing is free and you get 5 free photos. You only pay if you want more of a premium listing or extra photos, but I have sold over 90 listings and never paid once or these services. Yeah there are the a few adverts but I have never found these to get in the way and it wouldn’t be such a bad price to pay in exchange for listing your items.
I also like the way that you can just view everything listed in your area and stuff is just randomly thrown together like a boot sale, sometimes you come across something you want to buy when you only came on here to sell.
Great app for buying and selling, also good if you have something you just want to get rid of for free.

I’ve been using this app for about half a year so far and I have to say, I’m impressed. However I do think it needs improving. First of all, profile. You should add a bio so sellers can put some details about what they sell or about themselves etc, it makes it easier for people to know who they are buying off of. Secondly, users should be able to search up other people’s names because it just makes things a little easier. I’ve noticed that there is a star so you can follow people but there should maybe be a page where users can view the people they have starred. Lastly, I also think there should be an option where we can personally contact another person. Overall I think this is an amazing app with space for improvement, I have successfully sold many things and have received great reviews. Thank you.

Great app for selling, no fees etc, but annoying adds constantly in your inbox and every time u put an item for sale it constantly tries to get u to pay for it to vip it etc, if this was removed and only offered on first sale I would rate 5*, should give u the option to click when you're ready or want to, not try and get u to do it each time u list or even click on your own item. I suppose it's free and free to list so they do need to try and make some money, but it shouldn't be every time u click on your own add or try and list something imo. Also why does it have to show you your own items your selling when you’re looking for something or even just browsing? If you’re selling 30 things then it insists on showing you those in your line up! Why?!? Why would you want to buy your own stuff?!? 😳 other than that it's an ok app! Does what it says, just Crap if buyers or sellers let you down! No customer service and no help for buyers or sellers!

Fantastic app

I have been using Shpock for about a year now and it’s absolutely fantastic! You can get rid of stuff you don’t want anymore and you can choose the price and the collection point. You can do it all from the comfort of your own home. Ok so people cancel sometimes that’s life but I suggest when you list you write your terms of sale also e.g length of time for collection, where collection is, payment, no refunds etc that way you can just relist after the set time. Shpock is amazing and I log on to it daily ( a million times! ) not only do I sell loads of stuff but I buy absolute bargains too and often really good quality and expensive brands. Have a look yourself and I’m sure whatever your looking for you’ll find it on Shpock for a fraction of the price!

I have been using Spock for around a year now and at first it was the best app out there. Better than competitors like Gumtree or eBay or any others.
But I now see it as one of the worst and not sure if I can be bothered to waste my time on. If you sell something and it all goes smoothly - fantastic! However when things don't go as they should, for example your buyer accepts a "legally binding" (as Spock promote it) agreement after you and your buyer agree on a price and they agree to buy. Spock do absolutely nothing to support you! I have several chases which have run on and on and on. Spock aren't proactive and are helpless at the mercy of their own app - total lack of control and authority!
There is no way of contacting them apart from via a tweet length comment box which they don't always reply to and when they do what they respond with is totally meaningless and makes no difference to the situation.
Using Spock is like gambling in the sense of things work out for you it can be great! If things don't - you'll with you had kept well clear and gone somewhere else.
