Every week I need to restore, to be able to download my latest copy. This has been going on for years. I’ve now had enough, as this week’s magazine still won’t restore after a few days. What is the problem and why can’t you fix it after all this time!

Absolutely loathsome

I would give it minus 5 if I could.
Every week for YEARS it only gives the option for “Free sample” edition even though I’m subscribed.
Moved from iTunes subscription to direct subscription…nothing changed.
Customer services have no clue.
Made an official complaint…nothing changed.
THIS IS THE WORST APP I’VE EVER USED.

Do not subscribe unless you want to be disappointed

Nine months since they’re ‘big’ update and I am still unable to regularly download a new issue each week. Having to constantly refresh and restore my purchase is tedious and unnecessary and for almost £50 a year I expect much better. I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Every week…..

I like this online magazine, its easy to use and navigate with good content, but…. I pay for it on subscription via Apple. EVERY week when I try to download the new issue the top of the screen shows my iTunes subscription is active, but the app shows that I will have to pay for the new issue. I then have to go to help section and restore my iTunes purchases - this takes hours and usually means I can’t access the new issue on the day it comes out. This is NOT a one off - it happens EVERY week and has done so for at least the last six months or so. It is extremely frustrating. Please fix this problem.
As of 09/04/24 this issue has STILL NOT BEEN FIXED, please sort this out

Irritated

This new update looks good but so annoyed as if I put it to my library and show only downloaded every time I leave the app it comes out of my settings and back to showing all etc and I have to fix it back to what it was. Can it not stay on what I had my settings at.

New version of app.

Hi, updated app to new version yesterday. Came to download latest version of magazine and it was marked at£1.99. Have been a subscriber for over 10 years and each time the app is updated, the same problem seems to occur in that a charge is showing to download latest copy of Tv and satellite (hard copy arrived in post this morning).

Downloading new issues

Something needs to be done about this app. Every week I have to delete the app and reinstall it to download and read the current issue. This has been going on for months despite numerous calls to the helpline. if this continues, I doubt I will renew my subscription when it comes up.

Worst App Ever

Restore purchase button doesn’t work, asking me to pay for something my subscription already covers troubleshooting solutions do nothing, abysmal customer service. The old version of the apps were great, feels like every time they update they don’t bother to do any testing at all and this version has been live for ages and still having issues with it. Such a shame to cancel

Have had a subscription since 2017, having previously purchased the paper version. 2 weeks ago and all the time before it was a fantastic app and the best tv magazine.
Then they updated it, all trace of past and current issues deleted, tells me it can’t connect to iTunes Store, then says restoring purchases, for eternity and doesn’t. Really annoyed and disappointed and cancelled subscription now. 😡😡😡

New app rubbish

Been subscribing to Tv & Satellite for years with no problems.
This new app has ruined it for me.
It will not load, will not open.
I cannot log on, download the magazine, it won’t connect to the iTunes Store.
All in all, a huge disaster which has forced me to cancel my subscription.
What a disappointment.

Truly Dreadful App

This is a dreadful app, slow to open, clunky navigation, keeps returning you to the bookstand each time you go into it rather than remembering your last page viewed. Add to that each time its updated you lose access to the program for several days if you subscribe via iTunes. The publisher is not interested in problems when you’ve subscribed via iTunes and tells you to contact them even though its their app and publication for which they are paid. A truly dreadful app, I shall be cancelling my sub and trying another because these problems have persisted for a long time now with neither the publisher nor Apple seeming interested in sorting it out.

Can’t download editions

Unable to download new editions. What makes it worse the only means of contact is via email which comes back stating a backlog and in so many words you want a response to contact mymagazine.co.uk who are not responsible for the app. There is a follow up email alert saying the address is not valid. Looking back at the history of the app it’s an issue that has plagued it over the years. Thus cannot recommend. Save your money as once you subscribed your throwing your money away.

Hopeless.

Can’t disagree with the other reviews here. App repeatedly crashes. As soon as you hit the home page. If you delete and then reinstall it, it comes back for a few seconds! But then crashes again. I’ve emailed them but they don’t answer. A shame as it’s a good magazine and I’ve just subscribed!

So there's a new improved update. Doesn't work. All it does is crash - yet to get past about p24 of any issue. Fortunately my subscription is monthly so only wasted a small amount of money but it's an absolute scam that they get away with realising rubbish like this.

Problems since update

Loading and installing takes a really long time. Then it wouldn’t open. Second try it opened but didn’t scale. Tried on iPad too and as I was swapping pages were blank and the app crashed. Please release fixes soon

I don't very often review apps but after the most recent update I had to leave a review on this. So disappointed. The developers have literally spoilt and ruined this. The older version was much better and much more pleasant to use. Considering cancelling my subscription.

Problems downloading new editions

I am fed up with trying to download new editions when messages keep popping up saying my “read time” has expired or I need to renew mu subscription when my subscription is paid up to September 2019. I had problems before when I had subscribed via iTunes and after much gnashing of teeth with both Magazines Direct and iTunes blaming each other, I cancelled my subscription with iTunes and re-subscribed with Magazines Direct. I am STILL having problems and either have to log out then log back in or delete the app and reload it. Please sort this out!

This app was great until the update, now it’s absolute rubbish. The app np longer remembers the page you are on if you go to another issue. Paid monthly subscription but new issues always show as being locked and asks me to subscribe, have to restore purchases to download new issue. Very slow when turning page and waiting to focus page. Worst update ever

Subscribed to this app for years and never had a problem. Since it has been updated I am seriously considering cancelling unless it changes. Pages are constantly blurred/unreadable, keeps going back to front page so I don't know where I've got to, won't open magazine offline even though I have downloaded. I could go on and on. What on earth were the developers thinking?! Radio times is very close to getting a new subscriber.

Ridiculous

As other people have stated this update is a backward step. Each time you open the app you go back to the cover of the "current" issue even though it may not start till next week. If you zoom-in the app is unwilling to zoom back out again.
To make matters worse, when I contacted them about about the problems they referred me back to Apple!!!

What were they thinking?

Why make something worse when it was working perfectly well? Can’t think of anything inherently wrong with the previous version that needed improving.
With the latest update, though, the format doesn’t fit the iPad anymore and even worse, when opening the app it does no longer go straight to where you left it off last time it was used, but takes you back to the download screen and you have to open the issue again. That’s a completely unnecessary pain and makes quick access impossible.
Probably will stop the subscription if these issues are not resolved in another update soon.
If you still have the old version, my advise would be to stick with it if possible.

Problems since update part 2

Update the app on 17 Oct and not happy. I subscribe through iTunes but after the update I cannot sign in with the app saying my iTunes Store details are not recognised. Eventually it downloaded the current issue, but this took a lot longer and on opening pages there were digital artefacts that shimmered for quite a while till the page stabilised. There is also the iPad top and bottom black bars (time etc) that overwrites the pages. Finally when you close the app and later reopen it does not remember what page you were on and you start again with having to select the issue and open from page 1. Reported problems though customer services but no response. A very poorly tested update please fix urgently as this was a great product.
Week 2 Now crashes part way through reading. I am now wondering As it won’t let me sign in am I being charged again for downloading an issue????? Urgent fixes needed or subscription will be cancelled.

The new update is terrible because in the past, one would leave a certain page and when you go back you would go to where you left off. Now you go back to the front page where all the magazines are.
Please can we go back to the old version and then you will get 5 stars. I have also emailed their contact 3 times and have no answer, very disappointed

This is a continuation to my email below once again I pay yearly for this magazine and it is now 1st August 2017 and would you believe it it hasn't downloaded again I have emailed Apple and have not had a reply. This is a good magazine when it downloads as I am partially blind because I can make all the writing bigger on my iPad please Apple can you sort this problem as I don't want this problem every Tuesday.
I pay for a yearly subscription for this magazine but for some unknown reason it won't download this week it doesn't run out until 29th December 2017. I have been in touch with iTunes they cannot help they say get in touch with the developers they can't help so I'm well and truly stuck.

Starts free but then charges

I purchased the 12 month subscription for the print version which is advertised as receiving the digital version for free.
The print version is probably the best weekly TV listing magazine there is and the digital version was just as good if not better.
However, after 2 months I found that I was unable to download new issues unless I paid an additional £1.99 per issue.
I phoned customer services to be told that my 2 month trial had ended. There was no notification of any trial although in the small print it states that "the digital version may be withdrawn at any time".
So be aware that you take out a subscription expecting to receive the digital version, you will soon find that you have to pay for access.

Why will it not load next week's edition?

This magazine is one of the best in the U.K and I buy it every week.
While I am out of the country in the winter I like to buy the iPad version on a weekly basis.
There is a problem with this for as soon as you try to get the following week's magazine it takes you back to the one you already have.
since I wrote this review it has become a lot easier to load the next weeks magazine.
The only thing we need now is to be able to order this app only on a 3, 6 and 12 monthly basis instead of weekly.

Does not show regional variations

I usually buy the paper version of this TV guide which I really like so decided to subscribe to the e version. However, I soon realised that this was not the Scottish edition after I had missed a few programmes that I had wanted to watch. I checked in the App Store but this is the only version available. I'm disappointed and have gone back to the paper edition.
