IOS accessibility settings do not apply to this app and composing emails is a nightmare. There is no way to change font to make it more visible. Poor show. And yes, we did try applying settings but they don’t. Also, the only “help” issued says to use “more settings” or “to write an email” but neither is available. Poor show.

Would be better if To file messages were to be the same set up as before on the old Yahoo file/messages. That was quick and easy as one didn’t keep having to scroll through file headings to save a message to doc/file. The three system you have put in place is very time consuming.

If I could give Zero stars I would have, since the update as of today it has wiped my whole Gmail accounts and deleted all the emails and also deleted some yahoo mail also, this is not fit for purpose at all and to top it off you have to pay for add free etc and they want to access your mail, totally unacceptable they want to have access to your sensitive information just for the app to work! I’m afraid not yahoo, it appears you want to pry into peoples private affairs and use this info for monetary purposes/benefits to pass on to government/elites so they can have more control! Not happening!

I have found this morning that u cannot attach files from my iPhone to an email. It will let me add photos and reattach items that have already been sent but to attach timesheets for my wife’s PAs I need to rescan the item within the email. Does what you expect and more. You can pick up all your different email accounts. The layout is clear. Carries an advert at the top but hey, a free app has to be paid for somehow and it’s not intrusive. Overall it seems very reliable and works very well. My one small gripe is that it isn’t obvious how to block junk email senders, at least I can’t find a way to do it. There is so much junk and spam email these days that would be a useful addition. It’s easy to delete it all but I have knocked off one star for this reason only.

Works really well we use it as an office backup

 –

When ensure that all of the office emails send a copy to the Yahoo! account in the event as ever a problem with the Email system or anything else in the office we simply go to Yahoo! and login and use it as a back up because it’s setup with all of the sending addresses and everything, so it’s pretty indispensable for us. it’s also handy if someone is out of the office and needs to check for an email because they can search on Yahoo!. They do not need access to the office system.

Yahoo Mail since I got forced to use this instead of the older one.

It’s not linking with my Apple mail as it’s supposed to anymore, I actually dislike it intensely, too many weird adverts disturbing the Mail, and the fact since it’s been changed after deleting my entire batch of all emails, receipts, archive, including medical appointments - everything to ensure I had to use this version and stopped me being able to use Apple Mail too, by stopping the link I had. I am very disturbed by this, I dislike the way yahoo runs itself. Then it made me link to Google mail which as an Apple customer I’ve never wanted to do. I am unhappy with it in the extreme.

Thinking of stopping Yahoo after using >20 yrs…

This app is nowhere as friendly to use as Apple Mail - and I’m not sure that it’s possible to consolidate the inbox of different accounts into one consolidate inbox (which is the default case for Apple Mail)… I tried using Yahoo Mail after first ditching it around 2009, but I just gave it a try since my Apple Mail is having issues fetching my yahoo mails (which might also be Yahoo’s server problems according to the web) - but no, this app won’t do.
I’m weary of switching my main accounts to other servers, since I’ve used yahoo mail as my main since 2000, but I might finally not have a choice… meh. It almost seems like yahoo is going out of the way to kick out loyal multi-decade customers? :(

I have been using this app for years and the most recent update has pushed me to write my first review.
Can you stop shoving in app purchases into my face? This is a mail app not a game, I’m not subscribing to whatever you want me to so stop it. The ads are now more invasive and their way of giving you a solution to the problem they caused is with spending money... literally what? It’s not hidden either there are now pop ups prompting you to spend money... I’m quickly switching between mailboxes to delete spam, I don’t need to push your new paid service in my face!
I wish there was a way to roll back an app version on iPhone because it’s only been one day and I’ve already had enough of this. I only updated because a reply wouldn’t send and I got a downgraded version of the app because of my impatience. No matter how invasive you are I’m not giving you a single penny.
Anyway, do better.

The app is very easy to use but it could benefit from a few improvements. For example the facility to sort emails by sender of subject. As far as I know this option is not available on the app. Please advise if it is and where I would find it. Also when moving emails to specific folders, it would be good if it remembered the last folder and went to the folder by default until you choose a different folder. I look forward to the improvements in the future. Thank you. Roya

Too many repetitive irrelevant ads

App works ok but the ads that are now in the middle of the email list instead of the top banner are annoying.
I thought all these things were meant to be clever & the marketing was meant to target ads towards our individual searches, lifestyle & interests? All I ever get is insurance, funeral plans & dating apps or cars (& I don’t even drive!), none of these things are remotely connected to things I search for or have an interest in. When you send feedback about the ads it makes no difference to them being shown again & again.
I don’t want to see funeral info every day it’s depressing & having to scroll through them to see the rest of my messages is v irritating.

Although the mail app is good for what it offers, I’ve recently had what I consider junk/spam phishing emails explaining that my account will shutdown in 24 hours unless I go through the link sent with the shutdown notification. I couldn’t find how to contact/confirm the legitimacy of the email either on the Facebook page or other ways, i tried to forward it Yahoo’s spam/phishing email, only for it to bounce back with a message saying unable to deliver, it would be better if users had a much better way of finding out, reporting spam/phishing

I was being continuously served an advert that I didn’t like; I clicked the advert config (3 dots) menu choose to dislike the advert multiple times: even giving reasons a lot of the time but the it always came back. Yahoo Mail has now been deleted permanently and if I use a third party app it is MSOutlook: a clean and tidy interface without annoying ads and it has the major advantage of combining all mail from my accounts into one view: In Yahoo Mail I had to constantly go to the navigation menu to switch accounts: come on it’s not 1999!
I would solely use only the native Apple Mail App but it is sometimes very slow downloading email from the servers.

Enlargement

 –
Rabbit watcher
 –
2021-12-15
It is unfortunate photos of us with impaired vision, that within the Yahoo up we cannot enlarge are incoming emails.
It is just as difficult when typing an email, in fact this may be more sore as you wish to be correcting what you’re writing. This makes it very difficult to edit or even read through your emails. Punctuation then becomes almost impossible to see. Can yahoo researchers please find a way to allow us to enlarge within, what is otherwise he very useful up. I do not wish to go to complete audio which I could, and then use the app with audio input and audio output using the phone system to convert incoming text.
I’m sure I’m not the only person to have come across this difficulty.

No more easy to find emails

 –
(Someone) who cares
 –
2021-10-21
I used to prefer yahoo mail over other apps because it allowed me to just click on the sender icon in the email header and it will look for all the previous emails from the same sender and categorised automatically by month or longer period. Since an update recently the sender icon lost the functionality, I bought the upgrade thinking the functionality was there but to no avail. I emailed yahoo providing images to query about it only to receive a generic response email after a week that is not relevant with my query, it’s always upsetting to know my query wasn’t read, investigated or answered properly. Now it’s just not the same anymore.

Navigation difficulty in email chains.

 –
Odiatu
 –
2021-05-11
I find it painfully difficult to locate the money most current email in an email chain, even after having expanded previous messages, navigation is so so excruciatingly painfully difficult for us users if in the middle of our replying the most recent email message of an email chain we then decide to scroll up or down to maybe read something from a previous email in the history of the chain (for reference sake) and to come back to the current email we’re replying to complete the message, navigation back becomes similar to getting lost in a maze.....it is so off putting and annoying when this happens.

Of all the well known (if you still count yahoo amongst the well known) email client softwares like Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, etc, this is the poorest in every aspect of functionality that makes an email client software. The biggest problem is yahoo seems to have opened up its customers email addresses to the entire hacker/dark web world. I am very careful with my privacy and careful where my email address goes or not. Of all the clients I use (gmail, Hotmail and yahoo), yahoo bombards me the most amount of spam in my inbox. On top of that, even when I painstakingly classify them as spam, yahoo put the email from the same sender in my inbox! Not only yahoo’s spam filtering is poor, the user experience and functionality for blocking spam (manually) is poor too. Poor show Yahoo!

i am using yahoo mail since i don’t even remember when. i was always happy with it. until this update. let me explain. upon writing a new mail/replying to a mail and hitting the SEND button the mail was being sent even if you would leave the app. now!?!! not anymore. you have to keep the app open until the SENDING tab is gone. i did send a few emails without waiting for that and much to my surprise i got angry people phoning me and asking for my reply. imagine my shock when i hear them say that they never got my replies!!! now please YAHOO IT managers fix this. until then no more than 3 stars.

I’ve used for years and it’s very reliable. The most important thing is stability so you know you can access mails at all times. Only one little complaint. Finding old e mails using search can be hit and miss. Make a note of dates so you can scroll through as sometimes search tells you there is nothing found. Considering this is free, small issue. There’s a great amount of storage too and the App works well. Thank you Yahoo..

Veers about, stability wise.

I used Yahoo for years on my previous iPhone- up until it’s erratic behaviour made uninstall it and move a lot of things over to Gmail, as I had genuine concerns.
After awhile, I found myself needing to use the address again, so I reinstalled it on my new iPhone 11. I have the “premium” version, so it’s SUPPOSED to be ad-free, yet I keep opening it to see a whacking great big ad just sat there. Reloading the app occasionally chases it away, but there’s no guarantee. Add in that it can’t count (it repeatedly forgets how many emails it has and doesn’t show notifications for new ones), and you have the reason I turned to gmail in the first place.
Seriously Yahoo/Verizon, whoever the hecc is running this- do something. For those with anxiety or disabilities your app is a nightmare.

Wouldn’t be without a service like this and thank you Yahoo! Recently I requested a quotation for some work that was urgent and, luckily I had a query and phoned the company. In short, because the company I was dealing with was an unrecognised or ‘new entity’ the quotation was diverted to spam. Luckily, this was resolved, though I could have lost valuable time for what was an urgent job. On balance, Yahoo does good work in difficult times, and I’m I glad they weed out all the rubbish and ‘genuine scams’ - joke!!

I just wish Apple would let us roll back to previous app versions. I would like to go back on this one for sure. When you reply, it includes you as a recipient? Also, you have re-moved the move to folder option behind the three dots. Forwarding is not as frequent a requirement as filing. Please replace. It takes three or four clicks depending on screen size to file an email away into its correct folder. For years, Apple mail has even been clever enough to suggest which folder it goes in. Can’t you implement that? The mobile app works fine so I’m definitely not updating Adverts, bullying us to use the paid version just make us use other standard mail apps. I appreciate the continuous updates but surely one of the main maxims of computer programming is if it works, don’t fix it. Merry Christmas.

My main line of communication is and was Gmail. For many years I used this route of communication because I thought it was reliable, please don’t get me wrong, it is reliable, it caused no problems at all, but since I’ve joined Yahoo the experience is different. For instance, gmail lends you a page to write on then it stops and prompts you to continue on a second page. This, I found, broke my reign of thought, which, when you’re talking to your loved one isn’t a good idea. Whereas Yahoo permits endless text with no break enabling me to just let the fingers to the talking. It’s easy to open, store and delete conversations, it allows the author to enlarge the font size, which I find very helpful, especially at night when the light isn’t too good. So all in all, Yahoo has my vote hands down. Thanks Yagoo.

I absolutely love the Yahoo mail app and web version. I have left my Gmail and Outlook to have Yahoo as my main email as it is amazing. A separate section to keep all my attachments is very helpful and many other great features. Very visually appealing aswell. The only downside I can say is the ads. I don’t think it is worth paying to remove ads however I find it weird seeing them as they have never been on Gmail and Outlook and it is slightly weird. Sometimes I get confused seeing them and perceive the ads as emails. Can these be removed. None the less I will be giving 5 stars in the hope of those small improvements to be made.
One issue is that I can’t add my iCloud mail to Yahoo so can that be improved as iCloud is my oldest mailbox so I do require than and prefer Yahoo mail app over Apple Mail

Have noticed recent change in “Inbox”incoming emails that I’ve been notified have been sent to me and when I go to Inbox to receive they’re not there and either havn’t arrived, or like a Very Urgent Email from My Bank just the other day that was sent out to me mid-evening and didn’t arrive until into the following day !? Apart from this I feel you’ve always been a company that I’ve been happy to be a customer of. Thank you - Kim Garnham.

I've used my yahoo uk account for over 10 years now and it's pretty reliable. It syncs well across devices better than other ones I need to do for work and one other I use at home. The spam filter is quite good - i just need to go over, have a quick glance and delete. Very, very infrequently, I do find something that got spammed that shouldn’t have been though. I also like the layout and I’m finding it quite easy to navigate compared to other accounts I know about. It’s also easy on the eye...

Apple colour flags?

Having had problems with the last iOS update I downloaded the Yahoo mobile app as a direct access to my Sky/Yahoo mail until I managed to sort out access via Apple.
The Yahoo App has a quite pleasing visual representation and works well.
However it had highlighted an issue with colour flagging of emails on my iPhone, Mac Book and iPad. Apple’s recent introduction of selectable coloured flags is a very useful feature for indexing and works well on the iPhone and Mac but on the iPad flag selection reverts back to the default red.
The reason has now become apparent in that the iPhone and Mac connect , by default, to the Yahoo server using POP3 protocol and as such are downloaded to the devices and hence colour flagging is retained at this local level. However the iPad uses IMAP and as the files are stored on the Yahoo server any selected colour flags revert back to the default red.
Yahoo needs to collaborate with Apple to support this feature on its servers.

Please change back the “move to” tab

Having the move to tab open up another tab that I have to slide up to get to where I want to move mail to is just an extra faff. The way it worked before where it opened straight to the top of the screen worked fine and I could quickly select where I want to direct my mail that way. I wouldn’t press the “move to” button if I didn’t want to use it so having another step where I have to slide it to open it is just a pointless waste of time and efficiency. I prefer Yahoo’s mail app to any other simply because of efficiency and I feel this is a step backwards.
Also if I were to press the “move to” tab by accident, sliding it down would take no less time than just closing it like before. Chances are 99% of the time I’ll be pressing it purposefully so why make a design choice based around the 1% I may have made a mistaken click.
To summarise; when intending to use it there is now an extra unnecessary step which slows the process down.
When accidentally opening it the process is no faster while having the extra slide step present.

Decent app, needs notifications.

This app is infinitely better than the awful browser version of Yahoo mail; there are still adverts here, but they’re not as horrifically in your face.
The layout of the app is actually really smart and clear. No nonsense, easy to use, and all the screen space is used sensibly. I like the option to change colour themes too (I always opt for dark/night modes where possible).
However, the app in which I check my emails seems to be the only app where notifications aren’t an option. Angry Birds will happily tell me I’ve missions to finish at 3am, but I can’t get a notification about an email from work? Yeah.

Been using this app for a while now and it’s generally stable and works without issues in any of the countries I’ve been in.
The one annoyance is the advert that appears on the top line each time and the fact you need to pay £0.99 a month to stop it is basic theft. Give a discounted yearly price or do away with the advert altogether and it’s a 5 star review.
One point: when you swipe away the advert, you can give feed back, obviously no one takes notice as the advert simply reappears. This is more concerning if you happen to find the advert offensive, you submit the feedback, it’s ignored and they reoffend you again.

Why so complicated?

There is an issue with the process that checks your account recovery contact details. The app has prompted me many times recently with a pop up showing the phone numbers and email addresses I could use should I need to recover my yahoo account. I had been been ignoring the pop up, because the contact details, despite their age, were all still valid. Eventually I got sufficiently annoyed with the pop up that I tried to ease its concerns, but there was no obvious way to just confirm that the existing contact details were still correct. When I tried to confirm that the phone numbers were correct, the only option seemed to be to use the “edit” icon, then press “confirm”. This had the effect of deleting the phone numbers! I had to add them again from scratch. Why do you make this apparently simple process so complicated?

I have been happy with this app, have it on both my iPhone and iPad. But when the IOS changed to IPAD OS my app went funny. On my IPhone I can see my 3 accounts however on the IPAD I lost almost all functions. I cannot see or get to my other 2 accounts. With the one account I cannot see any of my folders until I go to store an email. I have removed and reinstalled and still it refuses to work correctly. It doesn’t appear that you can select different versions as in one for IPad or IPhone. I have tried with no results. So be careful if you have IPad and you want to use this.

For some reason I’ve been locked out of my yahoo Mail account and I’m unable to get it back as I’ve been logged out and I cannot log back in. I believe I’ve mistyped the security email address, which also can’t be accessed now, and I’ve recently changed my phone number and lost the SIM card. I acknowledge my fault, but at no point have I expected I’d be logged out of my own account in the app. Now I’ve forever lost my account and I’m unable to get it back, the faq’s didn’t help at all. What the hell is the point of such high security if it means some people will definitely lose their accounts because of small inconveniences. I have all my social media and university feed/college feed on that specific account please help me I can’t just make another one.

Despite numerous issues reported there is never any follow up from this arrogant company.
The latest issue is emails open without the introductory comments so if someone has sent you or forwarded information you have no idea why? I only realised it by opening the same mails in the old IPad Yahoo Mail.
Having been forced to use this awful app I now can’t even fully open emails
In the unlikely event anyone from yahoo should be interested I’ve taken screenshots of an email opened in the app and old yahoo just to show the issue.
Still incredibly useless in almost every respect. This time suddenly I keep getting pop up to sign in on yahoo app. Already signed in, can’t find any way to sign out. Pathetic

Everything worked perfectly up until the latest update. Though it’s still possible to access and send emails, it’s no longer possible to send attachments or forward anything via the app. This problem has definitely been caused by the update so, If you’ve not already done so, I’d urge you not to update to version 4.44 if you want to continue to have access to all the app’s facilities. Hopefully Yahoo will find some sort of resolution to this problem.

The update where they changed how delete works was when I really started to hate this app.
When I trash/delete an email I DO NOT want to go back to my inbox to have to select another email to view and potentially delete, starting the whole process again. It’s long and counter intuitive. I want delete to take me to the next email in my inbox like all other decent email apps, not throw me back to the front screen of my inbox. You listened to feedback and made this change? Which idiots think this is better??! At least give us the option in settings to have the old system back if we want it. If Apples mail app worked with Yahoo flawlessly I would have deleted this mess a long time ago. Sadly, depending on the day, I have to use both to get access to yahoo mail. If my email address wasn’t used for everything and wouldn’t cause a massive headache I would have switched to gmail ages ago.
Poor, Yahoo.....very poor indeed.

Yahoo Mail is essentially everything I need, providing especially; alerts every time a message is received, suppressing Spam effectively with only the very occasional filtering error and offering a pretty good Search feature.
The Search feature does become “fatigued” where there are frequent exchanges as a consequence not showing every result going back. Also the “catenation” feature whereby conversations are strung together means one must be careful to search both inbox and Sent.
Finally every now and again a message can “disappear” apparently unbidden into Archive!

I could ask someone who had a stroke to take photos so they said they would send replacement flowers. They were eventually sent after four emails. There
was no phone number where they could be contacted and I discovered they were based in Malta. I will keep to British florists in future

This app is appalling. It is utter rubbish. Do not get it under any circumstances. Yahoo, GET OFF YOUR **** AND SORT THIS OUT!
This app was very poor to begin with and has got worse and worse with every so called update. Can we PLEASE go back to accessing yahoo through the native iPhone mail app, which worked perfectly well. It's totally unacceptable that I can't access my mail properly on my phone. Even writing this review is a pain because basics don’t work properly like the Apple predictive corrections - these work perfectly on every other app I have but not Yahoo mail! I would give this zero stars if I could. I keep sending this kind of feedback but nothing ever happens to improve it, it just gets worse. AAAAAAAARRRGGGHHHH!

This smartphone e-mail client is simple to use and can read, write, and receive e-mail from Yahoo! Mail, AOL, Outlook, and Gmail. It does display advertisements, but the advertisements don’t stop one from using the application effectively.
The e-mail client has nice colourful themes, too, which can be applied to each of one’s mailboxes; for example, the purple theme for Yahoo! Mail, green for AOL, blue for Outlook, and red for Gmail.
Highly recommend for iPhone users who read their e-mail daily and want a no-fuss way of doing it. I use the application daily.

Yahoo mail good and bad

Good:
Easy to enter mail, punctuation flows and keyboard use is predictable.
Mail is sent and received promptly.
Could be better:
Maintenance of contacts is not always easy. Changes of email addresses do not allow deletion of old address so that the option of which address to use is open.
The new arrangement of incoming mail often means even if I have worked through the inbox, there are still emails unread and I have to use the unread button. Not a disaster but inconvenient.
Needs doing:
The old mail put an arrow against mails which had been replied to or forwarded. This is missing so I cannot check what needs attention. REPLACE THE REPLY/FORWARD ICON ARROW.
There is no return button for when I hit the file button BY MISTAKE but I do not want to file the mail. It insists I put it somewhere but I might just want to delete it. PUT A RETURN BUTTON AFTER THE FILE ENTRY.
Hope this helps, is it possible to get a reply to this, just to see if anyone at yahoo is actually interested in feedback.

When I created a yahoo account many moons ago I was immediately inundated with adds and over time it got so increasingly bad that it became impractical and time consuming to use it at all, so it became my registrations account for anything that insists on a registration that I don’t want to give and only ever access to prove a registration is genuine. Everything else is ignored!
Thought I’d give the app a chance as it is apparently required to enable account key security but on opening and annoyingly defaulting to allow all spam from all partners which is turned off already in my email account it tries to bully me into registering my other email accounts with other providers in the app. This ain’t happening considering the crap I get through yahoo. However as a result there doesn’t seem to be any way of getting to the yahoo email in box I’ve entered without first registering my other accounts so basically it’s useless!
Don’t bother with this app, it’s not worth the spam or time

It is quite frustrating that if I open a website via my email, I cannot access my yahoo mails again unless I click back and back back.....until am back into the yahoo mail. I’ve also lost all my notes attached to my email that came with my iphone. I now have Re-restore my iphone and WILL never make the mistake to use Yahoo app via my mobile again, unless changes are made so that I don’t loose my important information saved over the years. Also, that a new web page is open outside Yahoo when link is click via yahoo email app, so that I am able to access my emails without having to close the website I visited.

This is very irritating and an interruption to my work. Tried the yahoo mail app support but they don’t have an option that reflects my problem. Not sure if the app team will care to look at this review and look into the problem but hoping there will be a solution soon. BTW the app still works fine on the iPhone 6s Plus.

I switched to yahoo mail because the built in iPhone email software kept deleting all the thousands of emails that have built up over time and redownloading all of them, not just the most recent ones, using up all of my month's data.
This alternative software subjects you to ads unless you pay a fee. I was prepared to do that so I paid the year's fee which should have lasted until this December. However, yahoo mail tried and failed to update today, and when I opened it again it conveniently "forgot" about my payment and turned ads back on. So yahoo took my money, but now wants to monetise my usage anyway. I don't know how to bring back ad free mode without paying again and I don't want to see ads so I'm leaving this ridiculous app behind and looking somewhere else.
Don't bother getting pro, if you don't ads, this isn't the app for you.

I find Yahoo very easy to use but I would rather not have advertisements popping up all the time. One thing I really wish though is that the constant updating that goes on could be curtailed. Once I have familiarised myself with the functions on my IPad, and they have proved entirely satisfactory for my needs, I do not like having to then familiarise them all over again. I know technology is advancing all the time but, surely, there is a way whereby those of us totally happy with what we have got can keep it.

This app is pretty useless at a lot of things but my main gripes are with calendar invites (simply cannot be read... There is an attachment at the bottom of the email with no name and when you click on it all you get is "No preview available". Thus didn't use to be the case but has been for many months now and on their help website they just keep closing the threads and marking them as solves even though no solution has been provided) and search (the results are completely random and will more likely come up with emails that have nothing to do with your search but very few of the ones that do). Will move everything to Gmail, not perfect either but at least it has most of the basic functions sorted....

I have had repeated emails from yahoo telling me I need to move to the app to get the ‘best service’ from my mail provider. I did not want to, because I wanted all my emails in the same place and in addition to my yahoo account I also have an outlook exchange work email account and 2 gmail accounts. I want all of these in the same place. However now my yahoo mail has stopped working on my iPhone mail...meaning I’ve been forced to download the app which means I am subjected to ads unless I pay a fee. I also can’t link my other accounts to this app without giving yahoo permission to read my mail which is OUTRAGEOUS and will definitely not be compliant with my work email rules for security purposes. I am incredibly angry that I am being forced to use this app, which I do not like, and I feel like I am being held to ransom by yahoo.

I like the simplicity of the basic system. It leaves me to organise my files. I have twice, many months apart, tried to use the app. Its dynamic reorganisation of files is interesting. I do not understand why this facility should assist me and the thinking of the development geeks is a mystery. What would help me would be the facility to go to any account and delete from that account all mail records older than a stated date.
That said, I still prefer the basic Yahoo system to the others I have tried.
