Superb!!!

This app is a real life saver. We used it throughout our stay in New Zealand to find free camping sites, and paid ones when those were full. Up to date reviews and helpful photos of the sites help you to navigate to the locations right for you. Life would have been much harder without Rankers and it allowed us more time to get on enjoying all the New Zealand has to offer. Thanks Rankers!

A great help

A mine of information at your fingertips. Beautifully clear and useable off line. One suggestion that would make it even better would be to give GPS coordinates for each flagged location to help programming a Satnav or route planner.

Made our holiday

Simply brilliant

We’ve just returned to the UK after spending 3 weeks travelling in a camper van. We used the offline iPhone app for all of our planning and it was simply brilliant. Each day it removed all the worry and frustration of finding a place to overnight at, and we got to stay at some fabulous stops we would never have got to without it.

Your indispensable friend

We have found this best of several ways of finding excellent campsites. Being able to run it offline is just the start.

The clever displays makes it easy to see at a glance the sites we might be interested in. Clicking through to the reviews then helps make a decision. We have not been disappointed yet.

The filters let us see and change lots of other entries such as things to do without cluttering up the display.

If you are trying to get the best of a trip round New Zealand, this app will be your indispensable friend.

Brilliant, using it is almost like being in NZ!

Well, not quite, but brilliant all the same. I purchased this before our 2006 trip and it impressed us then. It was so easy to find campsites where we wanted to be. The development since then is great too. We are going back next year and I am already planning for it using the wealth of info this app has.

The Favourites option is great for highlighting where we might like to go and serves as a reminder of where we have been for post trip nostalgia!

Proper job!

Great app. Helped us massively with our trip around New Zealand. Gave an idea of cost and which sites where free. The reviews where really helpful too. It's available off line, which is a massive plus as you can look for places when you have no wifi. The maps are also really good to help navigate.

Must have app for NZ camping!

We have used this app to find 100% of our sites and campgrounds on our South Island trip. The reviews are super handy and informative and have helped find the best sites! The other features are very handy too, the GPS tracking in particular is helpful finding out how far away a campsite is especially in the remote NZ wilderness and has also help is find our way out of difficulty when lost without WiFi. The app is well presented and easy to find use and navigate making it a pleasure to use. Some of the site pricing is a little out of date, though I have been informed that much of this is due to the D.O.C increasing their prices just before our trip began. Overall, this has been the most useful tool for our trip and would have been lost without it.

Fantastic in every way

This absolutely wonderful app has so far facilitated 3 weeks of adventures in NZ for me and my husband and toddler and out 1970s caravan and we will be using it as our 'go to' for three more weeks. It has everything you need to find free and paid, campsites, holiday parks, small family run sites, and filter for specific facilities like wifi and dump stations and showers etc, and also includes content on attractions and activities and free wifi hotspots across the whole of NZ!!! Each entry has photos, reviews, pricing, contact details and mapping options which link through to your OS mapping app or google maps, or can be programmed into sat navs. What's even more amazing is that you can download the ENTIRE content onto your device so that you don't even need a mobile signal to access all the content - AND your own location. I have been using my UK phone on airplane mode throughout the entire trip. No data charges etc - just a whole easily navigable guide, with real time gps positioning, on your device, with candid reliable reviews from other travellers to help inform your decisions about where to stay and what to do. We could not have done this trip without it. Genius stuff. So simple and it works so well. Heartily recommended. You can ditch your bulky and limited lonely planet guide now. :-)

Thanks to this app we had a fabulous month on South Island in a camper van. We were able to plan ahead and pick out the sites that met our changing needs. The Freedom and DOC sites were the highlights of our trip.

Essential

Spent 5 months camping in New Zealand and this app basically did all the hard work for me. I didn't really have a plan as where I wanted to go, so each day I just opened the app, looked for a campsite in a nearby town and made my way there. Simple. The offline maps were amazing too because it meant I could leave my phone on airplane mode and use GPS to find my way around. It meant I could never really get lost. A must have for anyone heading to NZ.

My one gripe is that the list of Supermarkets needs updating. There were many times when I was stressing over having enough food (and therefore stocking up) before I went to a town 'without' a supermarket only to find there was one there. The lesson here is if there isn't one listed on the app, always google it to be sure. But as I say, the app should really update this because it can't be that hard to find out.

Great App

We spent five weeks in a campervan in New Zealand and this app was absolutely essential. It allows you to download the maps to use offline when you don't have Internet access, a very handy feature. The map reveals all the details of the campsites; the facilities, prices, access issues etc. Alongside the reviews from other users, it allowed us to make the best decisions each day on where to stay.

Would definitely recommend downloading this app - made our trip so much easier.

Essential for a visit

We've used this app to easily find a wide selection of campsites during our trip to New Zealand and from talking to campsite owners it sounds like everyone is.

It's fully offline, has great real time plotting of navigation, lists campsites to suit everyone's budget and provides very helpful reviews when you're planning where to go next.

Over time I anticipate this app will get even better as updates seem frequent.

Disappointing, won't even start up

Was really looking forward to using this on my campervan trip round nz in a couple of weeks. I've downloaded it but it just crashes every time I start it up. I've restarted my iPad and everything and to be honest if it was a couple of pounds I wouldn't be as bothered but for £12 I expect it to work. Any ideas on why it's not working? Any chance of a refund?

Loved this app & wouldn't go got round New Zealand without it. Only reason it is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because it wouldn't always zoom in on the map. I would highly recommend it though if you are camping around NZ

Not impressed!

Not impressed! Whilst all the campsites are shown it's often impossible to access the site info and reviews, surely the whole point of the app, touching the info button will exit the app. This is not cheap and I expected more.

Useful for finding campsites

I found this app great for finding campsites while on the road. The GPS works and you can use it to guide you towards a campsite. As always campsite prices and facilities change - it might be useful to be able to update these via a feedback link. I've enjoyed storing campsites into favourites so I can return back to them. The maps take time to download; a job better done at home before setting off. I'd recommend this app to anyone having a tiki tour of New Zealand in a camper van or tent. Although some sites are only for self contained vehicles (i.e. they have a toilet) but the site info on the app lets you know what kind of camping you can do. Most sites have reviews by other campers and are dated so you can get an overall feel for what you might find at a campsite and how old or recent the review is.
