My personal journey with khya Mcgurk personal trainer

Been working with khya for around 8 weeks now, khya Mcgurk although young at only 18 years of age she is a wealth of knowledge and experience and has pushed me to achieve my goals and exceed them. I would never be as far now without her help and support. Would I advise a personal trainer ? Absolutely if you have a specific goal they help and encourage you to succeed although I am biased when it comes to my trainer I would advise anyone new to the gym to use them to kickstart your goals in time you will be grateful for their presence in your corner 💪🏻💪🏻 keep showing up

Worlds worst app

I have no idea how this app is rated 4.7- it is horrendous.
Constantly logs you out and doesn’t have a remember me function, so almost daily you have to input your full details again just to get into a gym.
It has no sound, but overrides any sound on your phone whilst in use- why?
Doesn’t give any notification or notice as to what changes are happening at your gym, eg if your gym is closed for the day or on reduced hours, this app will not tell you, you have to trawl through your emails.
So what does it do?
Well all the pointless stuff that nobody needs- it will tell you how many times you have scanned in and will give you little certificates when you’ve been 100 times etc. Why?
My dog is a better developer than whoever designed the UX on this app.

I joined Pure Gym 10 days ago and bought one of their padlocks for a locker. When I purchased the padlock one of the trainers put my code into it for me. After 3 visits my padlock wouldn’t unlock so it had to be cut off. I asked what they would do about it and was told - nothing!!
Not happy!!

2024-03-27
Just updated the app. When I start the app, it still cuts off whatever I’m listening to at the time - Spotify, the radio etc. I have to switch apps and hit play to start my music or audiobook again. Happens with any audio app I’m listening to. Very annoying.
The app is still really bloated. Full of irrelevant stuff on the splash page.
Despite switching off achievement notifications, the app still shows them.

Stops music playing and takes ages to start

 –
Druadan
 –
2024-03-26
For some reason the developers think the app should request audio control when you open it, so if you’re walking into the gym listening to music and want to use the app to QR code in at the door, your music stops. It also frequently sits on the Warming Up loading screen for ages, so I have to give up on scanning in and get my pin out of my password manager. From time to time you’ll open the app to find you’ve been logged out for no good reason. Could be a useful app if just a little more forethought was put into it.

I‘ve been going to this gym (MK Kingston) for just a week and I already want to stop! The sink in the mens changing room hasn’t had running water since the beginning. Instead there is an industrial sized sanitiser dispenser. Yesterday, the toilets were blocked and filled with the last user’s waste. The showers are equally unpleasant. In the gym itself the towel dispensers are usually empty and after my first three days the sanitiser bottles disappeared. I feel unsafe the moment I enter! Have we learned nothing from the 2020 pandemic!

The gyms fine but why does it feel the need to randomly log me out when i’m stood outside the gym and if you’ve forgotten your pin you now you have to search your emails for when they first sent you your pin. Love the gym so much - great people, classes, staff, vibes. But the app is rubbish and often thinks I’ve cancelled or not booked when I have. Staff are rude and disrespectful unless your a 18 year old female in little clothing I’ve noticed this for the year that I’ve trained here. Atlast I have got back into a really healthy rhythm and proper exercise is back in my routine again after a long break. It is so convenient and I can fit it into my erratic work routine successfully. People are commenting on how much better I look and how much more energy and positivity I have. I turn 60 this year and I have finally found my old mojo!
Gym staff really helpful and friendly. Gym clean and easy to use. Gym app fantastic. Open all hours fits my work hours.
Only request would be more showers please.

2023-12-27
It’s a really great app and allows you to track your work out times and book sessions and check out exercises you can do. However, there is one problem that I’d like to state. Randomly, maybe a couple of weeks in between it will log you out of the app and make you log back in. I don’t know if this is meant to happen but if not please fix it soon because me and my friends get logged out, making it quite annoying to use and re-login because we only use it when we go to the gym anyway, so it’s just annoying at the airlock doors and just log back in. thanks great app.

The other night a friend mentioned that they’d been to the gym 60 times so far this year. I was curious to know my attendance so I went on the app to look. That’s when I realized that the app is missing a lot of basic functionality that, if added, would make the app more useful in day-to-day life.
First, a calendar that shows me what days I went to the gym, then click on to see more details like what time and how long I went for. A notes section would also be helpful so that I can track stats and improvement without using a different app.
I would like to see also more stats on average session duration, frequency tables for how likely I am to attend on each day of the week, etc. Currently I can’t even scroll back more than a few months!! Similar gyms do this kind of thing with their apps, I think PureGym needs to update with the times.

Helpful app but with fix needed

Just joined the gym and app is really helpful - telling you how busy gym is and lots of ideas for training. Either gives suggestions for particular body areas or a suggested plan based on experience and ability. BUT, I accidentally clicked on Workout Completed when I hadn’t actually done it and there does not appear to be any way to cancel that so it is permanently in my training record even though I didn’t do it. There should be a way to cancel this.

Best feature scrapped - Training plan disappeared

 –
Syo_96
 –
2023-04-17
The best thing about this app for me was the training plan. This feature enabled you to set your goals and the app would create a “tailor-made” workout plan for you. You could see which exercises you had to do each day, how many reps per exercise and a timer to make sure you took the appropriate rest between reps. As someone with anxiety, not having to worry about what to do and having videos showing exactly what I needed to do was amazing. I’m an now say in the locker room of the gym without knowing what to do because this feature has just disappeared from the app. My husbands app as well. I know this might not be the worst thing for most people, but it is huge for me and it’s such a shame that such a great feature is now missing. Please bring it back, I’m sure there’s more people out there who appreciate the Training Plan as much as me. Thanks

I was really looking forward to come back after a while (decent pure gym at Barrow Road closed down).. But I was reading all the bad reviews of the state of cleanliness and it’s made me hesitant. Unfortunately all the reviews were right.. The cleanliness of the changing rooms were disgusting and I probably going to JD at Fishponds after this experience.
GUYS YOU MUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ASAP if you don’t want to loose all your regular customers!!!!!!
I went to a lot of different gyms of yours but I NEVER EVER experienced this before!! Such a shame because I loved Pure gym more than any other gyms. If I wasn’t experiencing it with my two eyes I won’t even believe it. I would be happy to upload pictures but maybe you are lucky that there isn’t any option for this.

Music

 –
Sallykaya
 –
2023-04-01
There are some instructors who play the music so loud in the classes that it makes working out almost unbearable. They seem to play it to please themselves with no consideration to their gym members requests to turn the music down. Some of instructors have to use a mike to be heard over the unbearable loudness of music and then have to shout out instructions to be heard. Some instructors completely disregard requests to turn the level of the music down and their replies are rude and dismissive. The gym caters for a client base of all ages. Some of the more mature clients find music playing loudly akin to an assault on their hearing as hearing get impaired with age. There are also younger members who feel the same. IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO HAVE THE MUSIC SO LOUD to work out. If that was the case then it would be played at the level in all of the other ares of the gym - it would be akin to walking into a night club. PLEASE TURN THE MUSIC DOWN!

So joined this gym as local to work, disappointingly there are very few staff members on the gym floor during peak times to offer any assistance or advise.. it’s feels a very impersonal way of training as place is so vast there’s no eye contact at all… lack of staff on the gym floor allows for gym users to dominate pieces of equipment even when there not using them or whilst chatting on the phone ? Not great when you’ve planned your training..Can’t say my visits have been enjoyable tbh so doesn’t encourage you to stay and progress…
I’ve done two classes one was mediocre as the staff teaching had the music so loud you couldn’t here her instructions. The second class was fab and I had a great workout 😊
You need a padlock for the lockers which wasn’t made clear upon joining and the changing rooms are open plan which doesn’t suit everyone …
I think they are popular because they are cheap and accessible however I think the idea is good however the execution doesn’t quite follow suit

Good Gym, Good app but some bugs

So this gym is probably the best budget/ public gym in my city and the app always grants me access but as someone who travels a lot it often makes sense to have to cancel my membership and rejoin when I’m back in town, however the rejoining process often glitches when selecting the gym from the drop down menu or doesn’t accept my discount codes which is disappointing as the rejoining fees are often expensive, however the gym itself is always held to an extremely high standard

2023-03-17
I’ve been a member for 15 months now and enjoy how convenient the 24 hour access is, plenty of equipment for all types of workouts, always people cleaning, and good self cleaning points, music could be of a slightly higher volume especially at weekend afternoons & evenings, staff are very helpful at the Halifax gym that I use, I notice that there are people from all walks of life, and all levels of fitness & I’ve never heard a single unpleasant remark about someone’s effort or appearance it’s truly inclusive, so if you are in anyway in two minds, don’t be the staff will help you with anything, they even gave me exercises to help a long running shoulder complaint that fixed my problem, all this and the price is the best out there 👍👍👍

2023-03-12
I had a gym membership for a few months but needed to cancel due to personal reasons. I was going to get a new membership later this year but now i will not. When i wanted to cancel it took me in a loop of pages, one explaining how to cancel them when i logged in to try to do this the page just said if you want to cancel then this will depend on your membership so view the different contracts and how to cancel for each which just took me back to the original page. Not once have I seen a button that actually says cancel membership. I am very disappointed and will now be charged for the extra month as after contacting them it will be after the limit of 3-4 working days before getting charged. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP unless you’re willing to go through this.

Every time I open the app there’s this message I need to update the version. I can’t get through this screen and when I open the App Store it says there’s no update available. I tried deleting and restarting the app and managed to actually open it and access my password just to enter the gym. Then it went back to the same screen.
Please fix this issue! I don’t like how dependent we should be on 1 app to even enter the gym/book a class. I know you can do it through the web page but it is so inconvenient!

When you open the app it makes you wait whilst it talks to the server to get up to date information. The app cannot be used during this time. I do not have/want a phone contract so sometimes I have no data which means the app will not open for me to use the qr scanner to open the door! Very frustrating. The app should do that in the background and allow me to do the basics. As a developer myself, I rate it a 2 but as a member I gave it a three overall. I got stuck in the gym the other day. I couldn’t get out. The app wanted/needed an update. I had no data on my phone to download the update, so couldn’t use the app and did not have my paper with my membership number on it.

I have multi access membership, so decided to use the one in Woolwich. I worked for about 1.5hrs, and only my way out I present the barcode like I always do, and it asked me to update my app. I clicked on update and it took me to the App Store which didn’t give me the option to update - it gave me the option to ‘open’ instead, and just kept tossing me back and forth. In the end a member of staff attended to me, and told me my mobile number was under someone else’s details. I’d never heard anything so ridiculous. I’ve been a pure gym member for 8 years now, and only just finding out that my membership is also being used by someone else who uses it in an area I have never heard off before. I got stock inside for 50mins, missing my appointment, as the staff said she needed to investigate. She insinuated I was using someone else’s membership. Shocking!!!

Poor layout and poor response to suggested improvement

Fed back that the layout of the Consett gym isn’t quite right upstairs. The four cross trainers are closely bunched and not very pleasant having to inhale others’ breadth. Politely fed this back to a member of the PureGym team and was told “we can feed it back but it probably won’t go anywhere“ , apparently because the layout is fixed. Whatever happened to listening to customer feedback?
There is plenty of space to shift things around a little without significant knock on consequences. Would really appreciate a more constructive response to feedback, not “computer says no”.
Look forward to a positive response to this written feedback.

The app generally works ok, I only really use it for gym access but predominantly I check how busy it is and try and plan my training week around this. I heavily rely on this feature because my local gym in Putney isn’t very big it gets so busy it is actually pointless even attempting to go If there are more than a certain number of members there. Getting a machine or bench is just impossible and would result in a lot of waiting around.
So the fact that this feature is limited and so glitchy can be really frustrating. Often the other days of the week aren’t clickable, and you can only look at the current day. So I can only plan on the day itself
There is also no y axis label on the graph so I had even a sense of what the number is on any given day.

Started doing circuit classes a month ago, I was scared of doing them as I thought I would be the only male doing the class and feel out of place. Plus I didn’t think I was fit enough to do them.
Can’t recommend them enough. The instructor is brilliant and makes you feel welcome and like you belong. Plus he pushes you to do better every time. Brilliant for any one trying to get fit or anyone who is already fit.
Definitely glad I plucked up the courage to go

Antibacterial liquid boxes are most of them empty all the time, only one spray working and badly, why are they not refilled regularly?…
There is a particular cleaner vacuuming around the machines, going very close when it’s the busiest times, with the vacuum cable all over the place, people have to watch out not to trip over it, as it stretches so much it’s dangerous!!!!, also the mirrors getting cleaned while working out next to them!!!, it’s not very nice, I don’t want splashes of mirror cleaner all over me, or feeling i have to move elsewhere because my corner it’s getting cleaned, specially when it’s so busy and there is no space at all… this is health and safety issue. This shouldn’t be allowed.

The Kingston branch is so awesome the workers over there are stunning especially Conor and Jordan they’re very friendly and welcoming to clients and their needs I lost my phone and also the combination to my padlock and I got all the help I needed very hard working team the environment at the gym itself is lovely everyone feels safe so many equipments to work with my favourite is the treadmills clean bathrooms the only downside is that this gym don’t have a swimming pool or hot tub but apart from that everything they have are excellent I will definitely recommend this place for everyone looking for nice and friendly gym for workout .

Although I think the content is rather good, I have been really let down by this app. I have been following a workout program and already twice I have had an error when opening the app that prevented me from opening my session workout. I tried closing and opening many times; even downloaded the app again, which deleted my saved data - rather annoying.
Also, by the end of the workout the videos tend not to load. I have a 1yo iPhone 8, so I should be able to expect it to work correctly

I am so angry, no one has told me about that, I just started gym after such a struggle and now I am almost a week suspended to book classes. I don’t use machines. And I am paying for the gym. For some sudden changes in my family I have to cancel few times as I couldn’t reach there. For me cancelling was informing that I won’t be there. If I knew was not going to cancel my class and would have just missed simply. I didn’t get any email or alert or don’t even know when that suspension will be over. Such a poor service keeping new comers like me who never been to a gym before unaware of it.

When it said that Plus benefits include PureGym water, I thought it meant free bottles of water. But it was a water machine.
Also, it could do with more air conditioning or more better fans on the machines. Maybe a bit louder music and better music. If all that were done, then it’d be definitely worth 5 stars.
I guess it’s just nitpicking, but it does get warm in there fast. I still love the gym tho. It’s kinda great. I’m enjoying it way more than the one at Wyke. One at Wyke is terrible. I’d give 2 stars or maybe one star for the one in Wyke.

I would like to thank PureGym for the home workouts they have been great, and I don’t seem to have done the same one twice.
I do have a little criticism in that some of the PTs, will say keep going whilst I show you the next move, but then don’t say start, and they go that fast that by the time I realise they have changed to the new move, they are changing to the next one. To counter it I have to use the pause button a lot, but that does help me anyway, as I have a really weak, painful back it’s helpful to go a little slower, all in all though loving it! Thank you

This app is incredible: I’ve only been a member for a month but I love the contactless access for the gyms (when open!) and the personalised workouts with video tutorials. As someone not hugely motivated at the gym when left to my own devices, I am so thankful for the workout routines all I have to do is show up and the app tells me all I need to do to have a good workout! Now the gyms are closed I’ve had a flick through all the home workout options and am very impressed - not only do they cover everything in terms of cardio etc but also have a section on yoga and mindfulness which for a budget gym is really going that extra mile! Amazing job PureGym keep up the good work

The gym is very under appreciated in normal times, it’s in times like this when you can’t use it you realise how important it is.
It is not only good for physical fitness but good for your sanity for me it is an hour or 2 get away from reality 4-5 times a week.
I use pure gym Dunstable which has very friendly staff is always kept clean and has plenty of equipment so you are never really waiting to use any equipment.
The app is also very helpful for booking classes, editing your membership, inviting a friend 4 times a month and discounts on supplements and other equipment.
Can’t wait for pure gym to re-open.

I love this app. Literally helps me keep track of my targets. I actually feel guilty if I don’t achieve them. I think there should be a part that requires (not mandatory though) you to monitor your fat percentile and weight via the machines they have at some of the PureGyms.
With the feature showing you how to do certain exercises and recommendations on what to do at the gym I’ve not downloaded any other fitness apps as there’s no need for the extra clutter on my phone (though there is room for improvement).
I love PureGym in general, I’ve visited roughly 30 branches since I joint two years ago.

First week into my new gym and I’m loving it! The staff are so helpful and very friendly. Nothing seems as if it is too much bother for them. The place is super clean! Tons of equipment all around, plus additional areas adjoining the main area. I wish I’d joined earlier! Done two classes so far and the other members are also friendly and approachable. I definitely feel I made the right choice for which gym to join by picking PureGym and it’s open 24/7 too. Perfect!

I downloaded the app in order to sign up to the local pure gym near my house.
I’m on a mission to be healthy and lighter ☺️ for 2020.
The app is simple and straight forward to use. You can see how many people are in the gym, how many are in a class and view gym classes up to a week in advance unless you have the add on membership which allows you to book further ahead.
Should you not be able to make a session then it’s easy to cancel and can be done at least 4 hours in advance.
You’re able to leave feedback too which is always good.
The only feature I feel is missing is being able to message members who are booked for a gym class when it’s being cancelled.
I turned up for a session last week to find a note on a board at the entrance of the gym letting everyone know that classes were cancelled due to the personal trainer being absent.
Had I known this ahead of time and not when I arrived, I would have planned my day differently.
Being able to message and notify everyone booked on the class should be done in the same way that we’re able to book and cancel a class. Hopefully the app creator(s) will incorporate this soon.

When you rely on partners to get home on time with no train delays and to make a class great but when there are train delays and it’s late notice you won’t make the class and not within the 4 hr time limit you get a strike is disappointing. Would be better if 1 hour or 2.
Also when you get notified under the 4 hours sometimes very shortly before the class and can no longer go, getting a strike then as well is very annoying. Can be very frustrating when it is not your fault!

My husband and I are new members by 1 month. We are also new to the gym world so we have joined to get fitter and healthier but were spremendone of going in to a gym environment, but we should not have worried as the staff are honestly the most helpful and friendly group of guys ever and offer good sound advice as a result we have settled in very quickly, even when we haven’t asked for help they greet you and ask if you need help and offer really sound advice, I now know what machines are best for my sore arm and shoulder ( I was using the wrong equipment at first). Also, I was only interested in doing classes of sorts and did not think PureGym did any classes, but now doing Pilates and using equipment. Fantastic place and staff, 10/10 professionalism and Knowledge.

So I joined pure gym a few months back now and the equipment there is great the app is also great I had moved to pure gym from another gym because the equipment wasn’t too good. There is plenty of weight training equipment as well as cardio equipment also free WiFi and water in the gym is good ! But one slight issue I have with the gym is I feel like when there is a class on especially a bike class I feel like the music is way to loud. I understand that the trainer has to speak loud so people at the back of the class can hear but the music is far too loud especially because I train alone and I listen to my own music. It overpowers my music and I can’t hear it at all at some points and it can really ruin a session especially when some of these classes go on for up to an hour. But overall a quality gym!!

Really useful for booking and amending classes, I can look at the calendar and can clearly see which ones I have coming up, including waiting list. One suggestion I would make it that if possible, give push notifications when you you’ve got a place in a class from the waiting list? I only received an email at 11:30 at night that I had a space on the 6:15 spin class the next morning, so obviously I missed it! More likely to check phone notifications than email and miss less classes.

So I joined Pure gym today and hit the road running,,,,,,went straight to my home gym ..... One of the main things I didn’t like at my home gym was the lack of staff for help with just the basics ! It was about 1300 in the afternoon so I would have thought there would be plenty of staff !!! Anyway regardless of this I did eventually manage to navigate to my chosen part of the gym . The app is really useful, after choosing a workout it gives all the instruction needed and necessary gym equipment needed , absolutely loved this , being a total novice to gyms I found this really useful. I do wish you didn’t have to pay £5 for the extra workouts !!!!!! That’s a bit cheap to be honest , but then I guess when you pay so little for the gym you got to pay for all the extras..... I have booked 3 spinning classes via the app with no trouble at all , and unlike some reviews have said I have been able to choose which calendar I save the dates to . I do think there is certain information that is missing which would be useful when first using the chosen gym , like for example , parking regulations , a map of the gym layout rather than struggle finding everything , and maybe more free workout sessions. All in all not a bad app and a pretty good gym .

When you book a class and add to your personal calendar it doesn’t show which gym you’ve booked at. Very annoying as sometimes i want to use multiple gym during the week depending on the class timetable. Also when you cancel a class it doesn’t remove it from your personal calendar like it use too. It’s a small thing but it’ll definitely impact my daily use on the app.
To be honest since this new app upgrades over a year ago i hate this app. I love the simplicity of the old app, did everything you needed. Adding more and more features to this once simple app had just made it slow and annoying!!
I’m sorry I know some of your members love the new features but if could just make the process of booking classes more easier and simple. I would be internally grateful along with many of your other members. Can you help with this?

I’ve been a member of multiple gyms but pure gym comes on top for what I want. Like most of us I have busy schedules and fitting in exercise can be difficult. The classes are usually only 30 min long, instructors are good and people are really friendly. The price for what you get is awesome. I know it’s not kitted with a swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi but the savings you make from the monthly cost compared to a gym with all those facilities you could still afford to buy a day pass elsewhere to do those extras.

Could have a few other features!

I’ve been using the app for a little while now and feel like it’s missing a few things. I think one thing that would be especially helpful would be a map/ floor plan of your “home gym” with coordinated colours for the different areas. This would be incredibly useful when booking classes so that members at least have an idea of where they are going/ where the class is before getting to the gym. This would definitely make me feel less nervous attending as I wouldn’t have to wander around trying to find someone to tell me where things are! There could also be list of all the equipment that is in each area to help plan workouts from home! Hope you take this into consideration as I seriously feel it would improve the app and encourage more people to attend more often.

Ok app, helpful and user friendly but
A) what’s the point in paying the highest available membership rate which allows you to view classes 2 weeks ahead when you can only book 7 or 8? The classes for the week after just sit there waiting for others to book them. Silly and frankly really bugs me.
B) I book classes at 3-4 different clubs, depending where I am and what’s available. When I add them to my calendar through the app, though, it doesn’t indicate which club I’m booked at that day. Please can you correct it?
C) when I cancel a class, it doesn’t get deleted from my calendar. Basically, it might be useful if you take a quick look at David Lloyd app, it was pretty much fault free

Great place to work out, meet people and have good classes experiences HOWEVER one of the reasons I left was the attitude and indeed sexism that was displayed on a number of occasions. Classes were good but some of the comments of those teaching could be crude and in some cases dam sexist bordering on perverse which I did not feel comfortable. On one occasion a trainer (not running the class) came into it asking for beer orders, which he then went out to get and gave to one person doing a spin session. Another time one of the trainers turned up my spin resistance when I had made it to something I was able to do after just having had a baby and was post kidney transplant too...a fact that I didn’t disclose but didn’t think that a trainer would do as it was unnecessary and obviously wasn’t something I felt was helpful or motivating.

Okay, but still some things to work on!

Whilst I think the new app is much better than the old one there are a few things that I really feel could be improved on:
- I would like the option to view my progress. For example, how many classes I’ve been to or how many hours I’ve been in the gym any given week. Much like the graph available online.
- My home gym (Holloway Road) is out of action this week whilst they update the equipment. Why am I not sent a push notification about this, or why is it not in a red drop down bar when I open the app? My classes were cancelled all last week and I only discovered why when I actually went in and saw the signs pinned up on the walls.
- When my classes were cancelled they stayed on my list of booked classes. It was really confusing when I was trying to book new ones in their place and needed to look at the list for reference. It would be better if it informed you about the cancellation by text and then deleted the class from the list on the app.

I like the look of the new app but there are a few things which I have found irritating with it that didn’t happen with the old one. The first is that it no longer adds waiting list classes to your calendar which was useful to remind you that you could potentially get a space. Also, when you cancel a class it no longer removes it from your calendar for you meaning you have to go in and do it yourself. Lastly, when you are looking at classes and planning your week, once you book onto one and then click back, it takes you right back up to the top of the list (i.e. the current day) and you have to scroll back down to continue planning your week. I know this seems like a small issue but is irritating, especially when it didn’t used to happen!

New version is terrible!!

Dear PureGym team, this last update is terrible! I understand you wanted to bring more to the app, but a lot of the stuff you’ve added is useless and just makes the app slow!
Pulling the number of people that are in the gym right now is irrelevant, takes time to load and also slows down the app as a whole. You’ve ‘hidden’ the list of already booked classes which now ALSO takes AGES to load.
I wonder who requested ANY of these features? Please put out another update that lets us CUSTOMISE the information we want to see in that home screen, if you’re not going to roll back these features, because as is, it has completed disrupted the usability and experience (and disruption not in the ‘cool’ techy way, just in the annoying way really...).
Slow app, useless features, has made the actual useful features harder to find and to load, calendar integration still doesn’t recognise other calendar apps such as google calendar on iPhone to give you a choice to add the class there... Can’t wait for the next update because this one is a pass. If you haven’t updated your app, don’t bother!

Having looked at the new app for a few days it’s nice to see we’re now starting to get somewhere with its usefulness. Still a long way to go but it’s welcome. Please developers don’t be discouraged by people who simply want a basic app to book classes, the app needs to cater for all user and not a small minority who simply want to book classes and don’t like change. Not everyone who goes to Pure Gym only want the ability to book a class in their app.
Apart from the ability to manage your class bookings, the app serves no purpose whatsoever. Can do nothing else with it. Can’t manage your gyms, can’t manage your account. No info like how many people are in the gym and is very rarely updated. It could do so much more but feels like it’s been abandoned, poor app.

Not quite sure how people are giving this app 5 stars. It’s super tedious to have to enter your email and PIN *every* time you launch the app. And it logs you out automatically. It doesn’t tell you how many people are in the gym - something even the web page manages to do as standard. And all this is when the app actually works. Have been using it for a few weeks now and probably 20% of the time, it won’t let you log in as it says “Failed to load app configuration” on the login screen. Uninstalling or restarting doesn’t help. Really hard to like this app.
When you do get in, it’s only really useful if you do classes. It has no use other than that.
Save yourself the constant frustration. Use the website and save the icon to your home screen.

There are a lot of reviews with new feature ideas. However there is one current feature that doesn't work properly. Once you book a class and 'add to calendar' you cannot change the calendar it gets saved to. If you try the app just crashes. Instead you have to save it in the default calendar then close the app, open your calendar then update it there. Please take a look into this bug!
An even simpler idea would be to publish the calendar as a public calendar (and internet calendar subscription) - that way you wouldn't need to add it to your diary and therefore may improve turnout at class if they show in your diary with even less effort. (Ie. If you didn't add it to your diary it'll still appear in your calendar to remind you).
My only other suggestion is have your instructors take attendance at classes through a tablet. It's pretty impressive how paperless/electronic the whole PureGym experience is - until you have to tick your name on a printed class list.

… this app is simplistic and functional. I haven't experienced any lagging in performance or crashes. However, there could be more to it.
Some ideas:
- Logging the number of people in the gym at all times
- Logging and tracking your personal performance - perhaps a calorie calculator, if you log the workout you do?
- Adding the Personal Trainers' contact sheets
- Ensuring that people actually ATTEND the classes and giving a stricter cut off time. Sometimes I find that I get a place in a class but I'm too far away to get there on time, as they offer me the place 20 minutes before class starts and it takes longer than that for me to get to them gym. Perhaps reprimanding people that don't attend class and waste spaces a little more strictly, like putting a suspension on their ability to book if they can't be bothered to cancel. I know people who go to my gym and admit that they never bother cancelling classes that they book weekly. Such a waste!

The app is good as far as simply booking classes however it does little else as far as a gym app goes. Modifications would make this app more user friendly and agreeable such as:
1. Add more descriptions to class details, what are they really about, what do you do instead of vague humour.
2. Who are the trainers - get to know them page perhaps would make life easier so I know who's teaching my class and can get to know trainers as well as personal training details/information
3. How many people are in the gym at any particular time
4. Personal profile where I could track my fitness, height and weight and even progress and/or diet
5. Suggested exercises for abs, legs, cardio and toning, etc. Personal training advice even workout-machine using instructions.
6. Allow upto 10 class bookings per week instead of 8 and allow people to rate classes and leave feedback
7. Article section with current literature and advice, forums and nutrition/general fitness information
There are also a few features I don't understand on this app such as the star where it says classes and why we can't edit our profile picture.
All in all it's average, could be much better.

The app is really easy to use to book and cancel classes. You can clearly see the classes you've booked across a week, which I like. If you're on the waiting list for a class and actually get booked in you get a text message in advance, which is great. App could be improved if it had added features such as changing your home gym, which I could only do via the website, your fitness goals and how often you've been to the gym and what classes etc. Website also shows how many people are in the gym at any given time, so that could be added too.

The app is good in terms of its simplicity- you log in and see what classes are available and can book onto them instantly, which is great. However, that's where it ends for the app for me. It would also be useful if the descriptions of the classes were more in depth so you knew exactly what to expect. Perhaps ignorance is bliss...!?
The app should do a lot more, for example you should be able to check your attendance dates and times, how long your visit was, classes that you attended etc. The website will tell you how many people are in the gym at any time and I quite like this feature to be in the app too. A section for monitoring your progress/fitness would be useful, as well as a section to monitor your body measurements/weight etc.

I don't really find it very useful can't really do anything with it I would like it to involve the feature of my activity and how many people are in my pure gym at any given time like it does if you log onto the website also on my profile would be great if it was more personal picture, height, weight that kind of thing so you could track it. The machines in the gym have those codes you can scan however I can't seem to find where to log it so this would be useful if on your visits you could scan a piece of equipment and it logged it so you knew exactly what you'd done at that time. So at the minute I don't really see the point in the app as I don't do the classes I prefer going online but it's just a nightmare having to keep signing in.
