Update crashes

This has been one of my favourite games for years, but the update doesn’t work at all on my iPad mini with iOS 9.3.6. The App Store says it works with iOS 9 or later. Such a shame as I was so excited when I saw there was new content. I wasted my money and can’t play the game.

Even more catalogues p-please

If y-you publish a new catalogue then I'll b-buy it, but you n-need to work on the stuttering p-problem which is q-quite irritating. That aside, this game is utterly brilliant. Darkly intelligent humour and a consistent and cohesive Tomorrow Corporation universe is portrayed across your other quality games.

Great puzzler

Really enjoyed this game and loved unlocking the combos. My only complaint was the diseased combo. I solved 98 of the 99 combos and everything else the game had to offer. Had to look this one up online which was really disappointing after spending so many hours trying to work it out. When i saw what the items were, realised it was the game’s problem not mine (spoiler - doesnt even involve the one item that does have a disease - rabies?). Overall a great game but very disappointed i wasn't able to complete it.

The novelty wears off after about 20 minutes!

I thought this was going to be as amusing as World of Goo... perhaps I haven't given it long enough... but all I seem to do is burn things, there's no actual excitement involved. Oh and I thought it rather odd that things burn here which wouldn't anywhere else, like bricks!

Also asks if it can access your photos, presumably so it can burn them too!

A clever, clever game.

This game is more like an interactive art project with elements of satire. The fact that people are complaining about the lack of direction and point are ironically spot: but they have also absolutely missed the point. The narrative is slow, but it rewards the player with a neat little moral that resonates long after the game is over.

Also, burning stuff is fun.

Utterly Beautiful

Little inferno is an utterly beautiful, gorgeously unique story about friendship, temptation and hope that will warm your heart and chill you to the bone. The game is perfectly executed, it's satyr humour brought across delightfully and the script constantly exceptionally well written. From the very first moment I played this i was entranced by its beauty, and played until the very end. While the first half of the game, though beautiful, can be seen by some as a little meaningless, once the storyline really kicks in the game becomes a thing of incredible storytelling, the fade from happy and innocent to dark and foreboding is incredibly subtle yet powerful, and the way that that the ending is executed is absolutely astonishing, and you will think about little else for a good few hours afterwards. Five star ratings are very sparsely given by me but this game is really something else. TomorrowCorporation, wherever you are, well done. You outdid yourself.

AMAZING... But...

There is a glitch or scripting error which means that when you load the menu screen (the one with the match) you tap the screen and the match just goes out, and nothing happens! This is because the scripting is run on a piece of software that automatically corrects scripting which it thinks it's wrong!

So this glitch only happends when you unlock the ZOMBIE GARDEN COMBO before GENERATIONS! A simple update will fix this *wink-wink-nudge-nudge* PLEASE

Wonderful!

Little Inferno is simply wonderful. It's honestly one of the best games I've played on any platform. I loved the subtle in jokes, the quirky characters, the inventiveness of the gameplay. I found myself addicted, playing it every spare moment I had for a few days until complete. The combos will also keep you coming back way after the main game is finished.

I can't understand the moronic reviewers below who give the game 1 star because it's not compatible with whatever iPhone/iPod/whatever they have. The developers make it really clear that this is a graphics-heavy game - and it really is beautiful to look at - which doesn't work on some devices! That's just how the technology cookie crumbles.

Turning to the game itself, I thought it was brilliant - highly original, funny, and lovely to look at (and listen to! The fireplace sounds can be rather soothing). I only wish it was longer. Keep up the great work, devs!

Wow

What can I say, I do not usually leave good reviews because I am regularly disappointed by apps, especially paid ones. I was throwing a lot on the line when I bought this game for £2.99 with little info. After playing it non stop for an hour and a half and watching my battery die, I can honestly say this is something different. This app is like a whole story and a game with a simple goal-burn stuff, but it has different combinations. With a great storyline and a very unusual play style I have to give this app a 5/5! Well worth the £2.99.

Charming, quirky, visually compelling

A game that's clearly been made with care and attention to detail by some talented, creative folks. A pretty simple premise (set fire to things) which ends up being an imaginative and interesting journey. I'm glad I bought this.

This is not a traditional game, there is no time limit, and reaction speed or skill is not a factor. There are points and rewards to earn, but you never really feel constrained by a shortage of either. The game is essentially "explore the fun ways that things burn" and combining items together per a list of clues (most easy, some a little less obvious) to unlock more content, until you reach the finale.

Engaging, witty escapism, a brilliant ending, and definately worth the money.

Brilliant. Addictive. And Deeply Ironic

I dithered over this game, at what I considered to be an expensive £2.99 - i appreciated reviewers' glowing reports but felt it was a lot to pay to be in on a joke. However, when it came on sale at £0.69, it was a must. Having played it, I would have bought it at the higher price point, and I don't say that lightly.

Of course, you can see the expense as being part of the joke, but actually it's worth the full cost because of the production values (including the musical score). The gameplay takes over six hours which is a lot longer than some reviewers lead you to believe (and a lot longer than most games in the App Store). It's strangely addictive - it caters to the same futile absorption created by social media games - and appealed to my appreciation of the absurd and the metaphorical.

It works on a number of levels - it's apocalyptic, it's brain-teasing, it's humorous (not least in its self-referential in-jokes - Meta Combo, anyone?), it's touching and at times appropriately irritating. It's a superbly realised parody of all in-app purchase games, of consumerism and big corporations, of the ironic isolation created by "social" media games. Contrast the at times uncomfortable stalkerism of the unseen neighbour with the failure to interact with the real world and real people. I could go on.

I loved it. If you haven't played it, "it's time" to meet the Tomorrow Corporation. ;)

Really Amazing!

A beautiful, thought-provoking game that is both ridiculous and deep and dark at the same time. I would recommend this to anyone who likes games that can make you laugh, think and wonder at the same time. Wonderfully crafted and high definition, this game is strangely addictive, and it took hours out of my life just playing it. A very new view on how we are entertained, the incredible simplicity of this game made it a spine-tingling experience. On the whole, a fantastic, modern game that everyone should try.

Little Inferno = Big Fun

I loved it. The setting is dark and a little disturbing. Small children encouraged to burn their possessions while they sit and watch them all disappear up the chimney. It's a little 'Tim Burton' esque I suppose. The things you can burn are great, some with surprises, the theme tune/advert is cool and the combos are fun to work out. However, I did have to look up a couple on the Internet.

For £3 I thought it was well worth it. Well done.

Little Inferno.

Loved this dark little gem, fun and wickedly funny. My downsides though are; if the game is left whilst you take a short break, then everything that you had lined up to destroy disappears when the continue screen appears. When you have completed the four tasks collection, the credits and story line drag on for an eternity. Otherwise a five star. As mentioned before a little pricey and clues a little on the perverse side.

Disappointing, over-priced & short-lived

I bought this game due to the rave reviews, it being Editor's Choice in the App Store, and made by the same people who bright me 'World of Goo', which I'm still playing on off after 3 months.

'Little Inferno' on the other hand is a game I've felt I've had to play to justify having paid for it. With so little to do apart from buying things to burn and a very annoying 'neighbour' I had no affection for and resented sending gifts to (a game requirement) and having to work out combos of items to burn to progress to the next level/catalogue - the clues for which are often so cryptic and hard to work out (you need to remember how each of the 100 or so items work individually to work out some of the combos) I ended up resorting to online 'cheats' to even progress through the game. And now after 3 hours of play, the game is almost over, and I can't even be bothered to work out what the last 4 items I need to finish it off, so I've to given up, and gone back to 'Paper Galaxy' for some fun (cheaper and with many more hours of gameplay).

Expected far more from this game after 'World of Goo'. Very disappointed, to the point of wanting a refund - or an update that makes the game more interesting with more things to do.

Or have I missed the point?

Little inferno is not meant to be exciting its literally a metaphor for people wasting their time in front of a screen with all their time floating away, its meant to be a progressive game not something you just jump into. Waste of time!

I loved world of goo so bought this as soon as i saw it and am pretty disappointed. Repetitive game play that isn't even fun and a dull story that develops painfully slowly. The game tries to go for satire and mock ipad/ipod games that have no story, take up time, and charge you money but ends up jus imitating them leaving you feeling like the joke is on you... Or the developers!

As with world of goo the visuals are good, however they seem to get worse as the game progresses, particularly the final sequences.

The only solace that can be found in this game is in the excellent soundtrack, which gets this game an extra star in my rating

Beautiful attention to detail

I was utterly hooked by this game and played to completion in two sittings. The story weaved smartly into the burning puzzle mechanic is as sweet as setting light to marshmallow bombs.

A lot of reviews questioning the price but £3 for 6+ hours solid entertainment is great value for money in my book. Now I've finished it twice I probably won't play it again but I'm very glad I didn't miss out on the experience.

Amazing!

I found this game by chance and when i saw the price I wasn't sure whether to buy it or not, but I did and I am so glad. The amount of fun I have had with this game, sitting there for an hour burning stuff...I know it doesn't sound like much but the creators of this game have done such a fantastic job that its by far the best game I have ever played! Enjoyed every second of it. A must buy! There is so much I want to say about this game but you have to play it for yourself just to see how good it is :)

The Life of Pi ??

Went to the cinema to see The Life of Pi this week and though it was a beautifully presented movie, I couldn't help feeling there was a deep, meaningful message I wasn't getting..... And this game feels the same !! Dark, funny, disturbing, even a little sad in parts with a certain amount of addictiveness in 'cracking' the combos.... but what does it all mean ?? I'm only about halfway through so maybe the meaning of life, the universe and everything is yet to be revealed, but perhaps I shouldn't hold my breath.

Four stars for presentation and style, but maybe £1.99 (or a free demo level) would have been a better idea... I'll come back and add another star if I get a sudden revelation in part 2.... Watch this space :-)

Good game

I find this such a cool game to just mess around with. It has a silly sense of humour to go along with the fun idea of burning lots of different items. I loved it, up until it started crashing.

Now I can honestly say I have pretty much never had an app that crashes more than once on me but for some reason this one crashes every couple of minutes for me. If i happen to be in the middle of burning something I lose the item and I don't get the money I would receive from burning it. Also if I am burning a combo it often crashes as the stamps fall down and I lose all the money for the items I lose the items and it says when I come back that I haven't even done the combo.

I really want to play this game but for me it's practically unplayable the 3 stars is because I can see how much I would enjoy it if it worked. 5 if it did.

Emperor’s New Clothes

All you do is put items in the fireplace to burn them, get more coins,get more items, burn them, and so on. The only gameplay is in working out which items the Combo List wants you to burn together. Big deal.

The thing everyone is getting excited about is the story that unfolds through letters. However, it's pretty obvious almost immediately what the story is. If you've ever played Braid or Limbo you can probably guess it the moment you unlock the first few new items to burn.

Personally I don't find the experience that amazing. It's certainly very repetitive and not much cop as a 'game'.

Unique genius

As you wade through the unremitting garbage of games put out by the Big Fishes of this world, you occasionally come across a beautiful, dynamic, thought provoking game such as Nihilumbra or Machinarium. Little Inferno rightly stands alongside these.

When you first begin it seems like a rather tedious fire simulator - you buy stuff and burn stuff. Simple right? Wrong! Keep playing and a rather unsettling story of existential fright, death and a caustic commentary on consumerism unfolds. There is a darkness to the story that is quite subtle and yet powerful but this is sweetened with a heavy dose of humour - just read the descriptions of the products you can buy. As all this unfolds the simple process of buying and burning goes on with a brilliant reproduction of the fire through sound and visual.

And the end? Get there and find out. The game changes and carries on to an ambiguous and challenging conclusion.

Does all this sound too heavy? Well it's not because the whole concept is carried off with a lightness of touch and sense of humour that is addictive. This is a bargain. You will love it if you possess a soul! If you don't love it then chuck yourself into the Little Inferno and help save the species.

Just as with Machinarium and Nihilumbra we have game creators who are thoughtful, imaginative and deeply caring about their product. Let's hope there is more to come. Now, where's that box of matches.....

Pyromaniacal Excellence!

What a stunning game! The physics engine is sublime - the feeling that you are actually burning things , from the flames first catching to raking around the embers is spot on. The game is often laugh out loud ("Kitty Kitty Poo Poo Plushie"?) and yet often very dark ("Snake Surprise"!).

I am sure that a lot of the 1 star reviewers did not get beyond the initial few levels. There is a lot to play with here. Yes, you can plough through the campaign part in a couple of hours and finding the combos may take a couple more but then the fun continues with the Little inferno as a sandbox burning experience, setting up chain reactions with lasers, explosives, plague carrying leprechauns ( yep, you read that right!) and dry ice. You can burn your own photos too ( time to rake out the pictures of your ex!)

And finally for everyone who says £2.99 is too much for such a "short" game -how long does your fast food £2.99 horse burger last?...

Awesome!!

Fantastic game, very addictive. Had my son and daughter playing at the same time so they helped each other out! I was so pleased with this game that after finishing, I played it again straight after, that is how addictive it is!!

Fantastic puzzle game as well as the ability to burn lots of different items, most of them having a remarkable reaction when burned.

Can not wait for Inferno 2!!

You must bear in mind many reviews are invalid

Nobody is qualified to review this game unless they have totally completed it - they will otherwise miss the whole point. I got this out of curiosity yesterday morning and could not get off of it for the whole day until finishing. It is weird, unique and addictive - it will remain in my head for a long time to come. I just hope the developers do something more with this game world and concept as there is a bigger story here waiting to be unravelled.

Wonderful game, but short.

Simple concept. Buy things, chuck them in a fire, make combinations to unlock new catalogues to buy more things to burn.

I enjoyed it, but there really isn't much more to it than that. It's all over quite quickly and other than finding all the combinations of burning stuff, there isn't much else to do.

Worth the money if you just want something that's to muck about with. Not much replayability.

Somewhere between art and entertainment...

This is one of those rare apps that walks the line between games and fine art. The actual gameplay mechanic (if you can even call it that) is staggeringly simple but really beautifully presented. Ultimately this is an experience that is less about what you do and more about why you do it, and it's rather wonderful. Great work from a very small development team :)

Stays warm!

If you are looking for high octane, top scoring, Pentakilling, fast paced gameplay of today; you won't find it here, and that's pretty much the point. If you are looking for a nice cosy night In front of the fire (It'sooOO COLD outSIDE) playing a gorgeously immersive game filled to the brim with atmosphere and a beautifully woven story arc, here's your ticket.

The visuals and environment are fantastically styled and the physics is well executed. The ambience and sound are top notch further bolstered by its own haunting soundtrack and Mysterious story. The narrative is dark and enticing, littered with subtle irony and observational humour, masterfully told with such attention to detail that the smallest idiosyncrasies in an item label or characters message can reveal a wealth of information about the world and those that inhabit it. The gameplay is simplistic and enjoyable ( and gratuitously hot!) however this works in the games favour and helps enhance it's other qualities as well as reinforcing the developers "message".

A great way to spend an evening, or just burn a few minutes whilst on a daily commute, Unfortunately; It can't last forever.............I burnt all my things.

Summary: if you enjoyed ICO, Portal 1&2, The Walking dead and are attracted to gaming experiences as a whole, I genuinely think you will enjoy this game.
