Would give this a 5 star rating as I used to love this book when I was younger and the app worked perfect! Now on my iPhone 4S it just shuts down everytime I try to continue! Please sort it as it is a great app

Was a great game book now a great mobile game. Great presentation and execution although Forest of Doom has an intro sequence. Although a small gripe this is just fabulous and more atmospheric than the books.

House Of Hell is a classic. I will reserve this review for later. My app now crashes after updating the information within the app. I press play and crash, back to the desk top. Please fix this and I will re review this classic, sadly unplayable title.

Great, but needs proof reading

This is a great game. However, the enjoyment is spoilt by the many mistakes in the text. I hope this will be rectified in future updates.

This was the first book I read of the fighting fantasy and the translation is perfect. Additional bonus of the French as well. This is great and a real blast from the past.

Great that the books I loved as a kid have been adapted for iOS, dice rolling and character points all simply recorded by the excellent interface. The book itself is quite challenging and I'm nowhere near completing it! Recommended.

Hell of a Game!

It is nostalgic bliss to witness the most welcome return of Fighting Fantasy. House of Hell is a brute of a challenge with an encapsulating storyline too; your fear being ever present. The revamped illustrations are wonderfully rendered; furthermore, the inclusion of a devilish series of fun achievements add to this 'original' RPG experience. Also, there is something deeply satisfying about rolling dice on a game engine.
My main objection is the lack of an all essential progress map makes it hard to govern your location within the house, especially when restarting a quest. Also, could there be a little more elaboration from the books 'instant death' dead-ends. In true FF fashion, these moments can sometimes be a little annoyingly random and offer the player no second chance of survival.
That said, this iPhone experience has whisked me back to the hazy days of childhood. I was delighted to read the legendary 'Steve Jackson's' history of FF introduction. More please!

These gaming books are brilliant. Me and my dad used to play them when I was younger and he used to draw the map as we played on.
Few improvements could be made to make this a faultless game.
1. A button to view what's in your inventory
2. A profile button to view your stamina etc
3. A map button to view the doors you've passed etc
But this app is worth the money :)

House of Hell was a brilliant book. And Tin Man Games have done a brilliant job in converting the book to iOS. The updated artwork deserves special mention, with the books original black and white line art giving way to sumptuous colour plates.
My only minor niggle is that the default serif font isn't quite as sharp as that used in Blood of the Zombies. That is, it seems to be anti-aliased making the text appear very slightly blurred on retina displays. Hopefully this will be improved in future, perhaps with an anti-alias on/off option.
Overall, Tin Man Games have made an impressive start bringing Fighting Fantasy to iOS. Two FF books down, only another 58 to go! I wait in eager anticipation.

Fighting Fantasy books were the rage when I was in school, nice to get the experience again on iPad. The transfer to an App of the book has been done very, very well. Worth the price - for this classic which wasn't one of my favourites of the series. Probably because it was as hard as hell. I would like to see Death Trap Dungeon and Citadel of Chaos now... Worth 5 stars but gave 4 stars as none of my unlocked achievements that appear in game register on game centre - a minor issue. Respect goes to the original authors but also to the Devs for bringing these back.

I used to love this series as a kid & I must say the game book system works nicely as a iOS app :) this particular one was the one I tried to complete about 30 times and never did but now I can and I have ;D after about another 30 tries.... If your a newbie I would recommend this one as a starting point and as a side clue there are quite a few red herrings ;) very pleased with the look and can see the makers have put a lot of effort in to it , a big well done and thank you to the team & I hope there's plenty more to come

Great Book

As a kid I read through quite alot of FF books and House of Hell was one of the best in my opinion. This app is great, the story is solid, the music adds more tension to the read, the dice and other mechanics work well. Simply can't wait for more from this series.

Great work!

House of hell was my favourite fighting fantasy book back in the day. This app is a fantastic new version of a great story, and I thoroughly recommend it. Note to developers - if you do any more ff books, please do vault of the vampire or midnight rogue, as they were both as good as house of hell.

Excellent conversion of an excellent gamebook

Back when Fighting Fantasy was in its heyday, House of Hell was one of the titles that gripped me the most. It was challenging yet rewarding, and both atmospheric and terrifying.
This high quality app reeks of love for the original. The changes, right down to the introduction, music and achievements all build on the mood that the book gives off. A triumph, and really recommended.
