Fantastic experience

Since being introduced to MUBI last year I feel like I’ve been on a journey, discovering some incredibly talented directors, actors and content. The app works just as well as any of the mainstream platforms, with superb sound, picture and an easy to use UI. I like the touch of including reviews of films and links to other work by each talent. I get the criticism of how small the library is, but that is what makes MUBI so unique, and a subscription is worth every penny if you’re a cinephile

Better then the common uk streaming services

Way beyond better films then the free and paid for services , do your self a favour and quit Netflix, prime, sky and the tv services like BBC iPlayer and itv . These films are more curated and are deliciously developed by people who understand cinematography through and through

Always charging for subscription when I’ve not even subscribed!

I’ve enjoyed MUBI in the past. I had a subscription then cancelled it in good time before it ended.
Yet recently MUBI has taken £16.99 out of my account with no warning or reason. This isn’t the first time this has happened either.
I’ve contacted them but in typical MUBI fashion they’ve not replied.
I will never take any subscription from them again.

Won’t refund a failed cancellation

What an odd service. Downloaded the app, prompted me to subscribe, which I did, the asked me to create an account. Upon creating an account I was asked again to subscribe…the first subscription was disconnected form the log in, but I somehow had two subscriptions on one account. So I cancelled my membership, still go charged for one, Apple won’t refund and after a week Mubi haven’t responded to my email or request for support.
It should be obvious my advice is therefore avoid. All I wanted to do was trial a service, it did seem good, but to be charged by mistake and receive no support at all makes this an easy pass.
Seriously be careful here when setting up your account, this is the single worst customer support I’ve ever had.

Great App

Some excellent and unique non-mainstream movies. The Apps seem to work well for me whether on here or my TV. One thing that frustrates many of us is not being able to remove movies from Continue Watching, they seem sometimes to stay there even after watching to the end!! Please add this option to all your Apps on all platforms, thanks

Poor Customer Service

Purchased one week for free. Was then offered 3 months for £1.00. MUBI then charged me £11.99 a month for three months as well as debiting my account for £1.00. Have attempted to contact customer services: no response. Have cancelled my subscription to be told I will have to pay for 3 months. No support or anyone to talk to. Will now have to contact my credit card company to dispute the charges. Film selection is fine but not that interesting. Will avoid this platform and recommend others to avoid it as well.

Good concept, improvement needed

The film exclusives are great but the app it’s self is lacking. You can’t select a primary language so often have to flick through pages and pages just to find something in English. The app was great for about 3 films the rest just seem like filler. It’s good if you like international and independent films, I’d avoid if you only watch English audio films.

Entropy: Worsening over time.

I’ve had Mubi for over a decade, sadly it isn’t what it once was. I used to think I couldn’t live without it. However gone are the daily films yet the price has increased most years about 4-5 times the original price though I will admit that was too low to be sustainable. They temporarily included Mubi Go which alleviated some of the frustration. I suspect the longer you have the service the worse the deal is, there’s a lot repeated new films and you don’t get any loyalty discount. At the moment for example new users can get 3 months for practically nothing but all get is emails telling me the price is going up and sometimes no warning at all. It was nice to have travelling as you used to be able to use it in any country. I don’t know if that is still the case. This is more and more like a Amazon Prime channel with a similarly terrible interface. Much like the service itself this has worsened over time. I would recommend you check your local free or paid options like BFI or NFB or Criterion or Studio Canal or ARTE etc. There’s quite a lot of overlap for me. I will miss the old teal Mubi.

Difficult to has app

I dunno if it’s just me but this app is super annoying. Have tried for 2 evenings to just set a password in order to be able to log in with my tv but code never works and I’m forced to close the ‘set password’ email to open the code and when I go back it resets the code so I’m stuck in a loop unless I open a browser to which I’m then required to remember a password I use Face ID for. Its not intuitive and doesn’t link up with the passwords even when in connected with my phone to the tv so basically not possible to watch it unless its super long winded or i watch on my phone. Or maybe ive missed something here..

Not what it once was

I’m not sure who’s in charge of Mubi’s film selection lately, but ever since it changed its platform of a film a day, it really doesn’t feel like it once did. At risk of sounding too narrow minded, it feels like mubi's spectrum of films has become too niche. I hope they manage to find the balance as they once had.
I enjoyed it when there was a real variety not just loads of liberal alternative directionless films.

If you’re into cinema as world art, this is the place where to be. Great films but horrible app

Could it not possibly have a browse function so I could find, say, films in Italian or Comedies? And could they make it easier to see what films are there (available to watch) or just there… er … to complete the encyclopaedia..? I’m constantly sitting down to watch something only to find there’s just the trailer, or to find - oh Beach Bum is there?! But is it? Aaaaagh I’m so confused. Get a menu! Allow folk to browse. The search is awful.

Changed the model, ruined it

I have been a Mubi costumer for years, since well before it was popular and it had its own distribution / production rights. They started with a simple but key concept: “less is more” and that curation was way better than algorithms. One new curated movie each day. Now, beyond the fact that they continue too have good auteur cinema, their platform has become as any other: a bunch of movies that rarely changes, they have more than 30 movies, yes, but no new movie is added each day. “Curation” is now limited to a series of random lists that anyone could assemble, except for the occasional retrospective of some director, which sometimes stays on the home screen for over a month. Honestly at this point the only reason I am keeping Mubi is the fact that I live in London and can use Mubi GO, which is the only actual curation left: a free ticket for one selected movie a week. The fact that they have been part of some really good productions does not compensate this horrible change they made. If we wanted an streaming platform that a couple times a year releases some good production and the rest of the year you pay to have access to the SAME bunch of movies over and over there already tons of them.

Not being told when films are leaving platform so Im going to cancel subscription

Am going to cancel because:
‘Notifications’ is turned on in settings but half-watched films in my watchlist keep leaving platform without me being told 😡
+ you can’t search by country which is ridiculous for a global cinema platform 😡
++ there’s relatively little African cinema.
Mubi is so Eurocentric, with just a few nods to Asian, S.American & Middle Eastern films😡
+++ and finally, when abroad there’s a lot of stuff that’s regionally tailored (fine) but it doesn’t have English subtitles (when in Turkey recently it offered several classic Turkish films unavailable in UK but I couldn’t watch them).
Bye bye Mubi!

Great Films, Frustrating App

This would be really the perfect app but the technical difficulties get frustrating- particularly when downloading. Downloads stop halfway for no reason or appear to be complete but then won’t play. They also disappear after two days which is frustrating. All in all, amazing selection of films but no good if you’re wanting to watch things whilst on the road.

Honestly the app needs updating

The bad;
Sometimes films just won’t play, I downloaded ’one second’ and now it won’t let me watch it due to an error. Sometimes films take hours to download because the file sizes vary drastically, and when clicking ‘fast download’ rather then ‘best quality’ nothing seems to change. The user interface isn’t bad but it’s not great either, I think you should have another tab for your watchlist, as the only way to see your list is by looking at the settings. Im really into indie and foreign films but the price for monthly subscription is a little steep for the quality of the app at this moment in time.
The good;
Best thing about this app is that once you watch a film, you can gift that film to a friend via email which allows them to watch it for 48hours. The app gives you a wide variety of films you normally couldn’t watch on regular streaming sites and in cinemas. The app plays more like a reading article which is helpful when finding out about the film, it’s cast and vision of the directors. I like how it gives you daily recommendations. I like the film description, the staffs interpretation of it and also allows you to view a trailer for every film available.

Friends, you can now relax! And let the film play, with this streaming service you might not always be entertained in the way a monkey jumping through hoops on fire would entertain you, but you will definitely learn something about cinema, yourself and how life is perceived around the world. For the real film lovers

An arthouse cinema on your phone. More people should know about it. The content is well curated; the app is beautifully designed. Since they’ve opened things up from 30 films it is better. Watch offline is perfect for travelling, and their exclusives from funding have been excellent. Would like to see more variety in tone overall but I’ve been a subscriber to MUBI for years because every month it delivers at least one great film that’s important or memorable to me, and that I would never have known about otherwise.

Finally. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I love films. I have since I was a boy. I’m a big grown man now. Headed into my fifties.
I think I’m well versed with good storytelling.
When you watch output from Netflix, Prime, Sky etc…..there is a lot of it. A lot. And one tends to find films fall into predictable genres and originality, in storytelling, is simply lost or regurgitated from something else.
I am in the middle of film, on MUBI. A film I would NEVER have discovered and therefore watched. They beauty of the MUBI model has to be it’s curation. The mere fact that films are being chosen by people who love story telling. They know that big budget blah blah blah can become hype….style over substance.
Here, they take substance and show you style.
You know those words….”surprise me”…..with a caveat of something good….something interesting…….well done MUBI, you really have done that.
If you are a film fan, looking for engaging films that aren’t the mainstream over hyped output, then take a trial and see what you’ll discover.
I use the Apple TV app. It’s polished, very easy to use and not overwhelming (like say Netflix) with huge amounts of content.
Thank you (once again) for being different. Keep going.

Best Film streaming site

For anyone interested in the kind of films from all around the world that are rarely or only briefly shown in mainstream cinemas, this is place to come. It’s also good for retrospectives and restored versions of obscure classics. Excellent value for money even if you only watch a few films each month. Streaming quality is excellent and the app easy to navigate.

Terrible log in system

I have been using Mubi for a very long time (maybe 10 years now). As much as I enjoyed the selection of movies and amazing lists, I always hated how bad their mobile app and how terrible the sign-in system is. They never resolve the issue with sign-in with Facebook option. Sometimes you can sig-in with your Facebook (which I connected years ago), sometimes not. I cannot find any way to sign-in sometimes. It tells me to sign-in with the email address I use to sign-in to Facebook, then, the app doesn’t accept my password. I click to “reset my password”, they never send me an email for password reset. They have to get a better software team. Very behind of many easy ways that we have with technology today. I don’t even mention the face recognition. Overall, terrible experience with the app overweights anything they provide me.

Animation that is humanity

My life as a courgette is really lovely and heartwarming… I’d love to be able to say that about more films but they are rare. There is humour and there is humanity. I cannot wait for petite maman directed by the screen writer of courgette… if you want a film to make you feel there are real people making films rather than accountants, this is for you.

Fantastic Films Terrible App Navigation

We’re absolutely thrilled with the films seen so far, there appears to be an excellent choice however, rather frustratingly, the ability to choose via country or genre is not possible and thus makes the search for film a difficult one.
Add to this a supplied genre search that changes and a lack of a simple A-Z list of films means our stay here will be short lived.

So diverse and delightful films

May I suggest a season of directors Lone Sherfig and Christian Peltzold films. In other words all their works. Also Sciamma’s Water Lillies with a focus on the supreme soundtrack from Para One. He And she is the most interesting author director. And finally Ferhan Ozpotek. Who can not be moved by La Finestre di Fronte. I could go on. But anyway excellent variety. Spice of life. We’re making curry!

Film Heaven - Interesting Films - !

Got a free trial & it has been filmic joy. Have now subscribed & enjoying cinema that doesn’t talk down to me or feed me formulaic pap that bores, sedates & numbs. The films are beautifully selected & offer me a banquet of the best films of our age, often thought provoking, mentally energising, & highly entertaining cinema. I am utterly delighted by Mubi, it’s what I’ve been looking for since late childhood, films that open up new horizons and take me on fascinating journeys; dramas, thrillers, art house, scandi, comedies, Sci fi that excite - new ideas - new at last!

Love the selection of the films but not the interface

Absolutely love the selection of the films and the whole philosophy behind this platform. but I honestly hate whenever I try to stream a film from my Samsung smart tv. The film in many cases just freeze so I can not finish watching it on the tv even if I uninstall the app from the tv and reinstall. The app for iPhone seems to work perfectly and you even have the option to search and add on the watchlist. The app on the tv is absolutely a pain in the back whenever I’m excited for a film and I wanna watch on tv I simply waste 30 min just to install/ uninstall the application, plug /unplug the tv . I have to add it on my watch list from the phone and then go on the tv to find it and eventually if I’m lucky I can watch. ALL THIS FOR 9.99£ how sophisticated really? The interface for tv is not as friendly as on the phones and it is problematic.

Unfortunately not worth a penny

I was really excited to learn that mubi existed, but sadly it’s just failing on so many fronts, there’s no point paying for this service
The app itself displays errors and failures that should be hidden from the user, the mubi apps on smart tvs is terrible and can’t render subtitles consistently, and in some cases even the picture is obscured
Basically, it could be something great because the catalogue of films is fantastic, but what’s the point in having a good selection of films when your user base can’t actually mess them without countless points of failure and error that every other streaming service successfully avoids?

Brilliant and always exciting...

The luxury of having a wide range of films presented in such a manageable format - as many as there are days in the month. So, unlike the endless and predictable megasites, one new film comes online each day, the oldest floats away. No matter how knowledgeable a film buff, you will find surprises and novelty, as well as chances to revisit classics. I’ve subscribed for years, in different countries, & the options have been consistently excellent, curated with an independent & personal charm. Highly recommended.

The Beauty has always been in its limitations

I have been an absolute fan of MUBI from very early on. It’s still my favourite streaming app and I’ve discovered so many incredible films, directors and actors through this service.
If you’re any kind of film buff, then a subscription is a no-brainier over any other service out there. It’s core attraction has been it’s limited 30-day curated programme. Choosing what to watch was never an issue with the limited time frame given to watch each movie.
It’s great that MUBI is offering a wider, constantly accessible library to mirror other major libraries like Netflix. I’m glad to know that if I miss a film, it might still be available... but that luxury loses the edginess of wanting to watch what’s on that month and what you might not see again.. Taking a chance on films you might otherwise leave. Curation is still there although shrinking in importance. Please just don’t forget that unique quality that attracted us over all the other services.

Losing its simplicity

I love the concept of MUBI. A select number of films, 1 removed/added each day, curated for the subscribers. Perfect.
The library is a really nice addition, in case you missed one or, more likely, in case you’d like to watch again.
Having checked the latest update on iPhone it seems this simplicity has all but disappeared and it seems to be a beautifully presented mess. Could we have the old method of viewing films as an option please? Much simpler for those who don’t want to have the paradox of too much choice that occurs with other platforms.

Great service!

The concept is great: a new film every day, staying on for 30 days. I’ve seen a diverse range of international content that I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to see.
The illogical one star reviews below talking about contacting google (what?!) and complaining about buffering are clearly user lack of technical knowledge. I’ve never had any buffering issues and that’s because it’s the user WiFi or 4G connection that’s the issue.
I’ve even streamed from the Mubi app using an HDMI cable to a projector using subtitles. Well worth the low cost. The trial is useful to know range of short films, films and documentaries are to your taste. There’s now a library too that contains a lot of other productions previously shown on the platform.

Great movies need great support

I signed up whilst away from the UK staying temporarily in Germany. No matter how I fiddled with the language settings, the site insisted on giving me German sub-titles and German dubbing. I e-mailed to ask for help . . . no response, despite a computer generated message saying they'd get back to me.
I took up the offer of a week's free trial too, starting on 10th of the month. To most people a week is seven days, but no, MUBI said they'd be taking payment on 16th of the month. That's a bit sharp in my view.
Overall, they seem keener to rope in new subscribers than to look after them. The standard response to messages seems to be along the lines of "things are a bit pressured at the moment due to Covid19, so instead of responding within the promised 24 hrs, we'll get back to you within 72 hrs" . . . but even that never happens, for me at least.

A remarkable gift at a time of great difficulty.

I can say without any hyperbole that Mubi has been truly life-enhancing over the past few months. With more time on my hands, and a greater need to escape into the world of great cinema, Mubi has delivered again and again. It has broadened my knowledge of this most wonderful of mediums - introducing me to the incredible collaborations of Harold Pinter and Joseph Losey, for example, or helping me to delve further into the varied filmographies of Fellini and Bergman. Always impeccably curated and thoughtfully organised, Mubi is a treat. I have recommended it to friends and family, and will continue to do so.

Easy and functional

This is a great app. I only wish I could connect it via my iPad to my older (not smart Sony TV) I can pair website on my laptop, so that’s a shame I can not pair the app with a proper screen. The possibility of downloading films for a period of time, which enables to watch films after their time on MUBI expired is my favourite feature. Also it is very useful for watching in transit when the access to internet is scarce or zero.

Try BFiPlayer instead

I don’t like Mubi for two reasons: firstly the selection isn’t great (there’s only about fifteen films at any given time) and, secondly, I really hate the way they only last a week or so. The app also seems to rub it in by showing films that were previously on the service but are no longer available. It appears to be designed for an incredibly niche audience of people whose knowledge of cinema is such that, not only have they seen all the classic English-language features, but they’ve seen every one of the foreign-language pictures of note too! I say this as someone who has seen a lot of foreign-language films, but Mubi doesn’t give films you’ve even vaguely heard of, and when you do come across a director you’re interested in, it’s normally an esoteric choice from the start or end of their career that no one is interested in seeing unless they simply are completists. I wouldn’t be lying if I said the curation felt deliberately abstruse and, at times, laughably pretentious. I would suggest to anyone but the most devoted film buff to go with the BFiPlayer instead - not a perfect app by any means, but with a far larger, more comprehensive and longer-lasting collection of films.

Quality over quantity

Using MUBI has allowed me to navigate a way through a sea of endless content.
It is refreshing to discover something new after years of relying on old favourites.
I waste so much time scrolling through flix and prime that after 20mins I am no longer in the mood to watch something.
I expect there to be frustrating weeks where nothing is suitable (the month I joined I noticed a string of films I simply didn’t find appealing) but no one should be watching a film every single day.
Definitely worth the investment.

perfect for lockdown

A selection both of films that I’ve been looking for for a while and don’t turn up in other places, and also of films that I would never otherwise have found but do really enjoy.
Can’t recommend highly enough.

Movies are great - but the app is frustrating.

The movie selections means there’s always something to watch for a movie buff.
But from a technical point the app does not work well. If you try to stream a movie using chromecast and that movie has subtitles as well as a voice over the voice over subtitles will not display, which is incredibly annoying.
As well movies tend to stop for several moments if your internet is slow, which can be frustrating.

The Best Curated Film Streaming Service

MUBI is the antidote to the problem of browsing fatigue. Instead of a mediocre selection of thousands, you will find 30 good-quality films to chose from with a new one added (and another removed) daily.
Each movie is special in some way but not necessarily specialist. There’s a mixture of old and new, Hollywood and indie, English and non, documentary and fiction and every genre is covered too. You needn’t be an film school graduate or a cinephile but you may expect to broaden your horizons a little in between the lighter offerings.
Over on the website there’s also a rental service offering essential cuts from the history of modern cinema, a social-media-style community aspect, an insightful and topical blog and you can store personalised lists of films on your profile page.
MUBI has opened my eyes to just how much cinema I can enjoy and how much I can enjoy cinema.
With a selection of thirty, you’ll never want to watch everything but you can be sure there’ll always be at least one film that’ll make you want to hit play.
In addition, you’ll have access to MUBI Go which gives you free entry to one hand-picked cinema screening in your local area every week.

So thankful for Mubi

If you and your partner find yourselves spending 25 minutes each night scrolling through endless lists of films on Netflix and not being inspired, you need Mubi.
If you find yourself walking home from the cinema and really regretting paying a tenner to see a crappy blockbuster, you need Mubi.
It’s such a wonderful selection of films from people who clearly loved film.

Mubi is essential for film lovers!

It often feels like the theatrical arthouse / indie sector in the UK has collapsed. Thankfully Mubi has stepped in to fill the void, championing provocative, distinctive, hard to categorise films of all stripes. I love the 30 day format and their curation is second to none. Plus if you see just one cinema release per month using Mubi Go then the subscription has pretty much paid for itself! For lovers of quality cinema, I honestly cannot recommend Mubi highly enough.

Good service, unreliable iOS app but getting better

Very good service altogether. Very happy with the selection of films, very very diverse and always interesting, never disappointing.
The iOS app is nowhere near as convenient to use as the browser version:
- if I download a film, after I watch it, it doesn’t appear in my viewing history whatsoever at all,
- subtitles are a bit unreliable,
- streaming to the Apple TV is bad: the connection is unreliable, it sometimes drops and starts again from the beginning of the film, the iPhone screen keeps on flickering, and it becomes impossible to use the phone, otherwise the film stops after a few seconds only on the Apple TV. Which means, no texting, no Wikipedia, no nothing while watching a film.
I hope these can get fixed soon.

Must have for real film lovers

As a young filmmaker, I absolutely love MUBI, it is great for shining a spotlight on some real hidden gems as well as classic movies. Ok several occasions they have had a film I have been dying to watch but was unable to see it when it came out or get access to be able to watch it now at an affordable price. At a time where the choices on other streaming platforms can be completely overwhelming, it’s great to know there is somewhere focused I can go to with a selection of films I can trust to be interesting.

Sorted - compatibility of the app with IPad2

Thanks for excellent team and patience in solving the problem after update on 27th April 2019 when Mubi stopped working on ipad2 system iOS9.3.5. The option was to download the app again but from "purchased" folder in App Store not from general folder. Thank you for your contribution in saving environment from e-waste as long as possible.

Amazing App for Cinema Lovers

If you love world and independent cinema then you will love this app and if you don’t love world and independent cinema you may just grow to love them because of the great service MUBI offers.
Everyday there is a new film to watch sometimes it will be something you know and sometimes it will be something you have never seen before but always the choices are informed and well chosen by the team at MUBI.
I cannot recommend this App and Mubi’s subscription service enough.

My Honest Opinion

I really want to like this app. The curated movies are extremely diverse and quite frankly a bit hit and miss. Personally, I can do without the more obscure Oriental epics, however beautifully cinematographic they are. But for every few misses, there is usually a hit that comes along sooner or later (for example Wim Wenders’ Lisbon Story). The referencing tools are extremely useful. I wish there was a way of suggesting content. I think the App could end up being very good indeed.

The fewer the merrier

There’s something beautiful here about the absence of abundance in both genre and number. The fact that these films are carefully selected makes for an experience where there’s minimal mindless browsing, there’s sharpened ability to plan your watch, and there is persuasion to follow up on what one watches and know more upon watching about cast, director, other films by the same director or actor or screenwriter.
In the day and age of a deluge of varied information, curated content that takes pride in that it is selective and limited, is a breath of fresh air.

Gift could not be retrieved

I was sent two gift movies from a friend who has recently started a membership with Mubi. Something went wrong and for one of the movie the website shows that I have already redeemed it and I can’t watch it although I didn’t redeemed it! I emailed Mubi for support but 2 days later still waiting for the response and help.
When I first tried to access my first gift, it told me I had to download the app. So I did. The app is pretty basic, there is no search option so you cannot even find movies by names either. Really not impressed, and would not recommend.

Great movies, HORRIBLE app

Update: the darn blinking airplay icon on the top right corner on my iPad Air is driving me nuts! Is it possible that you fix one issue and introduce two?!? Maaaaaan! Wanna love this as MUBI has a great selection of titles, where do you find them? The app unfortunately also knows where to find a way to prevent me watching them. Now it crashes and becomes totally useless every time I try to download a movie. A few weeks ago it would always open upside down. It is slow, clunky, unstable. Fix that and I will give you back the three stars you lost. Update September 2017.... the app has got WORSE! Crashes, freezes, shutdowns, downloads losses... TRAGIC! What a shame... just put the movies on another software platform PLEASE!!!

Love the concept but technical hitches ruin the experience

I love MUBI. I’ve been a member for a few months now and it scratches a certain itch in my movie diet. I’ve used MUBI on a number of devices but I’ve found many problems with the downloads on the app. Subtitles are frequently frozen or botched. Had to give up on a few films I downloaded recently because the subtitles weren’t working properly. Not sure what is causing it but I presume there is a software malfunction somewhere.

Good movie app

The app itself works properly in my iPhone and smart tv, the player works fine too.
Then, some of the movies are great and some are just watchable and you’ve got always something to see, something of quality. It may seem that it has a poor offer but IMO is better quality than quantity. Sometimes I find hard to choose something on Netflix with its huge quantity, but not here. Obviously they’re in a different league.
Recommended.

excellent selection, terrible app

Mubi was once a leader in streaming technology. But its mobile app is pants. Don’t waste your time and use a browser.
Here’s an example- I download a film as I have a variable internet connection. I play it later that day. Half way through playback it starts to buffer. Why? It is downloaded. I end up being unable to watch the film. Ruins my experience of it.
Here’s another example - I try to download a movie but for some reason the app keeps telling me I have no wifi connection. Yes, I sometimes have trouble with my wifi so I try other apps like Netflix and try to download with that. Works fine. Mubi? Keeps failing.
Very poor Chromecast functions too - eg you can’t adjust the audio in the app. Also crashes a lot when casting. Other apps do not do this nearly as frequently.
I wish Mubi were available on a more stable platform. As it is, it’s not worth bothering with.

Utter waste of money!

This worked fine for the first month of my subscription. And they have some great films, available to watch for 30 days before they disappear.
Unfortunately anything I wanted to watch disappeared before I could get even just 10 minutes into a film! Constant errors, blank screens and freezes prevented me from watching more than a minute of a film! Tried so many times to watch even just one film. Great content, terrible app. Fix it and I might come back, but at the moment feeling totally ripped-off for the months of paying a subscription for nothing!!

why only for subscribers?

I understand this whole thing with the new direction mubi took 4-5 years ago that focuses more on subscribing and watching films through the service, but for a lot of people, including me, mubi used to be very much about the community as well.
I want to open a film’s page to check its rating, read comments and join the discussion, or for example check what the people I follow have been up to and maybe comment on their activity, or participate in forum topics.
A lot of these things became really difficult and problematic after the “lifting” the site went through 4-5 years ago, but on the app there’s not even the option to do any of these, which is something I don’t understand.
Just gives me no reason to download it and use, seeing as I’m not a subscriber

A wonderful way to watch films that inspire and surprise

MUBI presents an eclectic mix of films from around the world that most people would otherwise never have thought to watch, or indeed would have had access to. Surprise yourself by giving it a go and seeing what they select for you; you won't be disappointed.
