Don’t waste your time

Don’t start it as it is a waste of time. They told me that my phone wasn’t one of the last generation so that’s why wasn’t working. I bought almost £1000 phone and still not working. Totally useless and the service provided on the phone lines is so rubbish that can’t figure out what is going on.

Going around and around with support team and still not being able to sort out my problem. So it is a made decision to leave the company and move to a different one.

Avoid!

Avoid at all costs. As a small business owner- I thought this was a solution for card payments. The app is glitchy, the hardware is ancient and out of date, and payments are not guaranteed to have been successful even if it says it is. I will be closing my Barclaycard account entirely.

Absolutely Useless

Avoid at all cost. Setup was never possible without the support staff on phone taking you through the process. Technically rubbish system with least GUI friendliness. I had Paid over a grand to exhibit at a retail show for 2 days and then on the day, the app locked me out due to the bug (which they later acknowledged). You could only unlock using their online portal. I didn’t have my laptop with me hence couldn’t fix the issue but so glad I had SumUp as a backup. I see no value in Barclay payment system. If you are to use it, please do keep a backup option. If you don’t believe me then see the overall score this app has here..

Haven’t ever managed to log on.

When they changed the app I was asked for info I couldn’t provide even though I imagine it was embedded somewhere in the old one. I voted with my feet and just went back to using my old reader from another provider. Problem solved. Barclays you are costing yourselves money.

Unreliable

Works for a few months then suddenly locks you out and you have to phone India, on the phone for nearly an hour, twice now in a week.

Smartpay. Should be called CantPay.

I have been locked out of this app three times now. If you don’t take a card payment for 7days your account will be locked. And you’ll have to call customer services to unlock it. Best of all it will lock you out after you start taking payments, you know right in the middle busy service. Beyond frustrating.

App doesn’t work. Has never worked. Not in months since it launched. Just instantly crashes the moment you try and complete a sale. Useless

Update - After HOURS of speaking on the phone to Barclaycard, the solution was simple yet bizarre. Change the clock on your iPhone from 12hr to 24hr. Click Update Data on the app. App instantly works.

Doesnt work

Previously the card reader worked ok ish … now can’t even login to the app. Can’t take any payments. Spoke to customer services who said something was wrong with ?? (Something or other) and I should wait a few days! It’s now a few days later … still can’t get it to work. Why make it so difficult?!

Replacing a simple app, with a POS app, for small businesses must have seemed like a good idea to someone, who has never been near a small business.

It is not possible to use a reader on more than one iPhone etc.

Trying to find someone that can explain how to get this app on multiple phones and enrol it phone is May on impossible- plus when I was sold the machine it was not explain to me that you could not have an online Barclaycard account to download statements for accounting purposes. I have to wait until the hardcopy arrives in the post. Customer service is shocking. It’s more about the portal rather than explaining how to get the app working on your phone !
