Progress
This game is great however I feel after a certain point (when you have most characters) the game becomes stunted in its process, thus becoming boring.
I have some suggestions that could help improve the game:
- All characters should be able to be purchased via coins/surfer credits/completing events and not only available in a season pass.
- Keys should be able to be collected in the run (one of the characters abilities is to pull in keys, magnets coins etc!)
- There should be way more surfer and board tokens given when you open a box or earn them. 10-15 tokens is too small an amount.
- There should be more locations and areas you can access in the districts and these should not only be available when you are collecting a secret star. It’s fun to be able to climb construction, explore the mall/undercity. There should be secret paths to keep the game interesting!
- A surfer should come with an ability to triple coin value through magnets or upgrading

High refresh rate support
Absolutely loving this game however I would love to see you add 120hz support for the iPhone and iPad Pro as I feel this game would benefit from that massively as the new effects and animations on this game are very nice but higher refresh rate would take it to another level. Please add this 🙏

Difficulty in casual mobile games
Firstly I would like to say that the game is overall a step up from it’s predecessor. Graphics are nicer with good music and gameplay is as you’d expect.
However, I do have problems with it. The game has had a difficultly increase which at first you’d think it’s good but the increase in difficulty comes too early into a run. Once you get to around 50k score the game throws so much at you and for a game that was known for being casual but also had some skill expression, the new difficulty is too much in my opinion. It should only start getting very hard at least at 200k. People who play while on the toilet for 10 mins won’t have a very difficult experience but people who play to get higher scores will have a harder but more rewarding experience.
Another step back in my opinion is the music. I mentioned previously that the music was an improvement and it is but there’s a lack of the ability to change the music to whatever you wanted, like the original subway surfers. I would turn on Tokyo’s theme and be happy with that playing all the time. But there’s no option for that which is disappointing.
Progression and the “campaign mode” are two weak points as well. Once you get past “world 1” you basically can’t get three stars on any levels because you haven’t got any of the characters needed for extra points. This is where progression comes in and it’s soooo slow to unlock new surfers it’s ridiculous (same with boards).
Hopefully they can figure these issues out and game a great sequel to a good mobile game.

Overall great game but kinda upset
I had a great time playing this game for more than a month as the game was released early in in the UK, but kinda upset on how I didn’t get the pre registration rewards. Hopefully there’s a fix for this.

The “Ticket” system
I think arguably the best pet of this is the trials for each district but the bummer is the tickets needed to play them. I don’t mind the tickets but it’s insane how long I need to wait for them to regenerate, up to 50 minutes????? Just reduce this refresh timer to every 15 minutes or make them easier to get. If this game changes that it deserves a 5 star

Enjoyable But Heavily Flawed
I love the new aesthetic of this game and in fact, actually prefer it to the original. There’s so much to enjoy with new additions without removing itself too much from the OG. However, the environment is very difficult to adapt to. Some runs, it feels as if the game purposefully wants you to lose and start again. Trains move too fast and close together, making it impossible to run out of their way. Some sections spring out of literally nowhere and you’re not able to get used to them because they’re different almost every time. Would love to see this game get better but the playability is losing its edge when you’re not able to, you know, actually play it.

Best instalment, rewarding new progression, AWESOME FRESH MECHANICS, but…
TL:DR- Cool new mechanics, powerups, procedural generation changes, progression. Skip to the end if you’d like to see my only grievance. Also there is a suggestion I’ve made. Overall a more than worthy successor to the smash hit original.
The new mechanics are top tier! All of the surfers and boards(returning and new) have different abilities enhanced or unlocked by the new progression system (which isn’t paywalled) and this means you can have tons of new character and board synergy and strategies that enhance gameplay and genuinely make a huge difference to the classic running.
The secret stars are hidden in fun and difficult to reach places like a sonic game where you’re rewarded for popping off harder and reaching higher routes. The terrain now changes drastically between different districts with their own gimmicks and secret star locations and there’s much more emphasis on taking those higher more risky routes. The difficulty ramping has also been majorly increased necessitating you be more resourceful.
Basically all of the old powered have been removed or reworked. This actually makes it more fun and the board charges now make the boards feel less pay to win or scarce and more like an actually planned for gameplay element furthered by the boards specific perks.
However… Too many ads and too much monetisation. At least all of it is optional (except the ads after gameplay) and I very much commend you for that! But I’d sooner pay a lump sum upfront and never have to worry about a battle pass, campaign tickets, roulette wheels or any other freemium mechanic ever again.
A suggestion that doesn’t have to be heeded but would be really interesting is periodically in gameplay, what if you could switch characters? Maybe at the boundaries between districts? That way you could utilise more character/ board specific strengths and it’d add more strategy to the pre-run decisions. And hopefully this would be implemented with being able to pick boards independently for each character.

Some of the obstacles seem a little unfair. Quite a few of the red barriers/fast trains are impossible to see or react to in the areas with tighter parked-trains. Feels like a cheap hit or game over that the first game never really had, so would be nice if they were nerfed juuust a bit. Great besides that though!

I love how the difficulty has increased but some sections feel genuinely impossible like the moving trains. I think we should bring back the double tap to activate the hoverboards because is so easy to accidentally touch the screen and waste a skateboard which isn’t as accessible as it was. Also og Tracy was so cool and this version made her vibe way more nerdy which I hate but that’s my opinion! Other than that I love the 2010s feel and the fact the guard actually has lines 😭

Amazing game! Keep making missions and quests, and adding new characters with the “pass” and I will keep playing forever (I just need a reason to keep playing). There aren’t enough character outfits and they are seeming a bit sanitised / lost their charm. I stop playing whenever I don’t care about the pass character - can you add more outfits (not just colour changes) I can grind for, so there’s content to work towards when the pass is not appealing? Overall this is an incredible and worthy successor to the name “Subway Surfers”

Broken ads, cannot close them
I am ok with the ada, I understand the model. But what I cannot get over is unskippable ads. The ads would play full screen but the close button is hidden, outside of the screen area. The only way to “close” it is to restart the game at which point you just lost your entire run. Amazing.

Great game, takes me back to my childhood
Very fun game. I love the grinding aspect of it where u have to get high scores with all the characters. One improvement that could be made is with the weekly leaderboard. Instead of just a national leaderboard, maybe adding leagues in there with better rewards for each progressive league (Bronze, silver, gold, diamond, emerald etc.) and a promotion and demotion for top 5 players maybe.

Subway Surfers is BACK
Normally I don't write reviews but I had to for the ultimate sequal to a classic game: Subway Surfers City is the truest successor to the iconic original game in everyway imagineable.
They have streamlined a lot of the progression aspect in this game - upgrades are much less inflated, hoverboards are not a powerup you need to buy/collect in order to use with every character being able to charge-up one mid-run, and character unlocks have never been easier.
Unlike the original game which has a basic gameplay loop of start > go as far as you can > use coins to upgrade powerups > repeat, this game feels more of a roguelike where each run will greatly assist you in the next.
Characters are NOT just a cosmetic option anymore - they each have their own unique and well-thought out abilities tending to any player's unique playstyle and there's already 22 characters to start collecting. Unlocking characters is also extremly easy now - say goodbye to collecting thousands of character specific items to unlock them just for a cosmetic option that applies no real value to the game; some characters can be earned through progression whilst others require unique and free to play currencies to unlock. It should be noted that while some do remain as loot-box chance rewards they are rewarded to you in full, not in small parts which take years to fully unlock.
The visuals in this game are STUNNING - every model and asset has so colourful and artistically well designed, including the character re-designs, and the original soundtrack pays homage to the well-known theme of the first game.
I could go on and on about the good things in this game, but just like Subway Surfers, there's no end to it! I have insanely high hopes for this game and have no doubts it will outperform the original.

VERY ADDICTIVE
I downloaded this game 2 days ago!! And it’s WAAAAYYY better tgan the original. The graphics is really nice!! And I love the updates. How runners can “tag team” and how there are races with finish lines. I also love how each runner have different abilities- so you can upgrade each of them to get unique abilities.

Why you should download Subway Surf a city by slay Queen
Subway, surfers city is such a fantastic game because there’s so many characters levels and more One reason I love this game because you can never ever get bored of it. I spent two hours before and I’m still not bored. One problem about subway, surfers city. Is it so hard to collect characters all the characters in Subway Surf is are in subway, surfers city, though the easiest characters to collect or Jake tricky and miss Maya. All of the rest are super hard. I haven’t even collected them all yet and I’ve had and I’ve had this game for two months even though it’s hard to collect characters is still one of the best games ever, this is why you should down load Subway Surf the city so you can enjoy this so much fun of this game. I love the game, but my main problem is that the jackpot to unlock characters and boards is to low maybe u guys could increase it to a 10% jackpot chance. And maybe reduce the prices of the subway pass, characters and boards too. New districts could be added to make exploration more fun and awesome. But I really love the game it is superb but if this changes are added it will be more superb

This is in soft launch, so far an awesome game.
This is by far the best looking subway surfers game I’ve played, go on daily and I’ve only spent on the season pass as I think it justifies it! Absolute masters, please keep this one running, the graphics are incredible and looking forward to more updates as they come. Top game 👊🏻

Very addictive but needs some improvements
I genuinely love this game and I am super hooked as the graphics are amazing and it is very challenging. I love all the character designs and the side challenges you can do as well as finding stars to increase the score multiplier. However one thing that needs an improvement is that there needs to be rewards for high scores over 100,000. I have been playing for a while so I’m very good so most of my characters are not worth playing with as I can’t get rewards for scores over 100,000 and is no longer as challenging for me. Also I think there needs to be more things you can spend the money that you collect on to make the money more valuable for example buying surf boards or accessories for characters as I have a lot of pointless money in the game.

So fun can’t stop playing
This is by far my favourite game on the App Store. The only thing that could make it better is more districts, more punk clothes (hee hee) but most of all a mechanic where you get points for doing tricks on the surfboard
Even if it’s just tapping the screen and flipping the board, a Tony hawk style point system for that would be so cool.
Either way. Awesome.

So much to love, and yet…
…only three stars. Why? A recent update changed the game’s economics, first off. Yes you can now revive up to eight times, but it’s not a single revive token any more - it can be up to EIGHT of them, so my entire stash was gone a day after buying it. That would have happily got me through a few weeks before! The game is beautifully done, challenging and fun, brilliant music. But the main problem is that there are too many boards and too many surfers. So when you earn bonus points and the go towards upgrading, they’re meaningless. Oh, 11 points for that surfer? Great, only another 700 to go, plus there are another 12 surfers and goodness knows how many boards in a similar state… so you just take forever to be able to upgrade players and it’s maddening.
But it is genuinely a superb game, and I love it. But the economics and progress just do not work.
Was loving it and paid monthly to enjoy the fullest experience - but no more. Out of here.

Amazing game! But one slight problem.
First off, this game is immaculate. It’s a huge step up from the original subway surfers. The graphics/visuals, to new gameplay elements, it makes the game more addictive. However, the difficulty is a bit too overwhelming. I get it, it’s meant to be challenging, but the fast train speeds, to dodgy blockers, it makes it more luck based in my opinion, which sadly ruins the gameplay and overall enjoyment. Nonetheless, the game is still a 5 star rating from me!

Subway surfers
Hi! This game is generally brilliant but there’s just a few annoying things that have been bugging me. One of them is that there had been no ads until about a week ago and now after every game there is annoying ad! This has really annoyed me since one of the best things about subway surfers city is that there are absolutely no ads. Putting them on has made me play the game a lot less. Thanks guys the game as usually great but I’d really appreciate the new ads being removed but I know it’s hard to make enough money and as another games creator I understand. Great game but…
I’ve loved this game since launch and have occasionally spent money on it, but this current update has made the game laggy (13pro) the once perfect controls now feel like there’s a slight delay between inputs, probably not noticeable to new players but for others it’ll ruin a good run. I’ll still play and look forward to an update.

Lag
It is a really good game but when I am in WiFi it does not open and when I need to download content to play it does not allow me to use my Wi-Fi connection to download it and I must use my data. Also, the trials never load so I play them once and then I can’t play them for weeks. If all this could be fixed it would be 5 stars

I like this game and I'm TOTALLY ADDICTED to it but one day I was playing this and I was it the train station tunnel and Tricky was running away from the security or cop idk but as she was running tricky fell to the floor even though there was nothing there and the game ended so I revived but when I revived the weirdest thing happened... Tricky and the security guard fell out of the map and the entire game restarted I lost all my keys and all the people that I had were gone and all the upgrades that I done went down the drain. So I had Jake all over again so I played it again and I was in the bubble gum and I jumped but it took me out the map AGAIN and the game stopped and kicked me out and when I went back in every thing reseted AGAIN! So this game is good but please help with this glitch or crash. Thank you

Good but it could be better
I loveeee this game to just be calm but the ad box.. you should make it so it’s not an ad box, make it a key box instead because we can’t spend our keys and its really annoying and I hate watching ads, and I really want the ninja skin but-ad box.. 😒😡, it would be useful if we could just use our keys on it!

Good game but…
I really enjoy this game and like the character redesigns to a more modern style but one thing I really dislike is how the hoverboard system works now and I like the filling bar design better than the original generic bar but please bring back the old system with the double tap and collecting boards rather than finding them even if it’s like a regular skateboard then you use board energy to make it hover but please just bring back collecting boards and increase the hoverboard time because you currently have like five seconds to use it

Harder than first game
First of all they’ve ironed out the performance issues on older phones since release and it runs smooth now.
If you thought Subway Surfers was getting too y, play this!! They build SS from the ground up and made it more fun, more challenging and visually GORGEOUS.
MUST play if you love the first game!

Wow this is great
When I got this and saw that it was made by sybo I knew this wasn’t just another subway surfers ripoff I got the game went on and wow 🤩 it was amazing the graphics were so much better the sound effects too the maps music and new power ups are chef’s kiss and it still has that same old surfers theme I fell in love with the game straight away and I would recommend it to everyone especially if you got bored of the original game.

Perfect revamp
Always wandered why after so many years we never got a subway surfers revamp. Same graphics, same stylisation, different maps but no new features that come with them. Turns out they did but as a whole new game. Would highly recommend for the nostalgic fans.

Also, the thing that makes me annoyed is how it seems that you’re trying to replace the OG Subway Surfers as the characters have been strongly differentiated …🫡🤔😑

Amazing! Some suggestions!
I never played the first game properly but i’m glad i’ve played this one first. It’s simple, enjoyable and i love the score system with rewards, however a few tweaks i’d like to see, please don’t lock challenges behind a time frame.. I’d like to have a chapter of challenges all together and not one every day. I would also suggest nerfing the battle pass character.. her board ability made me get to 100K plus and only had her to level 8, it’s a good ability but it’s also very overpowered. Other than that the game is amazing and even with the tweaks i’ve suggestion it’s amazing without them ❤️

Modern Subway Surfers
A refreshing touch to the popular old game. Made by the same developers so you know it's legit. They improved the graphics all while keeping it subtle. The new mechanics are challenging, its subjective, you really have to play to know it. Nothing much to say as it’s really fresh.
All in all I would give a 4.2/5.0

GREAT GAME 10/10 would definitely recommend
There are a lot of things to say. For 1. IS THE GRAPHICS! They’re so good but can be a bit laggy on some phones but also the artsyle is surprisingly stunning. It’s nice and colorful. And the gameplay is awesome! There are new obstacles new locations and there are a bunch of new things. I think that’s very good because it gives OG subway surfers players something new, making them wanna come back for more. And overall it’s a great game!

Decent sequel
The graphics are better and I think the runs are more action packed. However I think the progression could be more simple and also there could be a leaderboard implemented. At the moment the game is a slight improvement over the original but I’m sure it will become far better than the original

Refreshing, amazing!
I downloaded this game a couple months ago when it was called Hoverboard Heroes and was really impressed with it not knowing it was made by the same developers of Subway Surfers and I was addicted playing this and unlocking the different worlds a shame I have to restart for this version now but cant complain, hope this game is successful.

The actual sequel to subway surfers
I have seen a lot of subway surfers games made by sybo (such as subway surfers tag, which I downloaded but only played once). When I heard about this, I just knew I had to download it and wow. The upgraded graphics make this game an experience and an absolute joy to play. The ability to change maps makes the game feel updated and unique. As well as that, there are less advertisements, which is a big upside.
Even though this game is more modern, there are a few problems with it as well. One of these is the update to keys and coins. In subway surfers you would use keys to revive and stay in the game. Now they aren’t really useful. You use keys for these crates. And you don’t buy characters with coins anymore, you have to complete games.
Although it has its quirks, I would rate this 5 stars as its a refresh to the subway surfers series as a whole, and as this gets released to more countries, I really hope this game gets more updates and popularity, just like subway surfers did.

I do not like this game, and do not recommend you play it
I do not believe this game does enough to differentiate itself from the original in terms of gameplay. What it does offer in terms of gameplay I’m sure could be introduced to the original just fine, with little complaint. There a several changes that are only present for the sake of there being change, for example: the hoverboards are no longer a power up you can collect from mystery boxes and then double tap to use, but an item that can be gained by collecting blue tokens while running that can then be activated by tapping once. The art style is also very unpleasant, I like the crisper shadows and the cars moving in the background, but I feel as though the higher graphical fidelity is something that can be implemented in the original subway surfers. I fail to see why this game needs its own horrific art style when the originals is so good. To the developers, if you insist on making a sequel, please, please, do a plants vs zombies, and maintain the original art style, but refine it. However, again to the developers, I simply wouldn’t bother with a sequel and I would just focus on expanding the original game, both in terms of characters but mainly in terms of gameplay, as it does feel a bit stale after playing for so long.

Great sequel.
The same concept as the original game, now with perks for each character that unlock overtime. The difficulty is much harder than the first game, making it a great change for those who played the original to death and want something new. Looks are stunning, but can be difficult to run ultra graphics on some phones.

Originally I thought just why since I have so many memories with the og but this one is a lot more modern and the power ups are a joy to use and overall just better although the og will always have a place in my heart this is great and I hope becomes as popular as the original

Great
The game is a nice prequel to the original Subway Surfers, its more difficult and i love the ideea of every character having perks and the board energy system where you can use it multiple times at no costs. No forced ads and just a few of them if you want extra resources besides the ad rewards. The ad rewards in my opinion is too much ads for a few resources, it should be less ads for more rewards and one thing. Where is the jetpack ? Hopefully it will be implemented ,its my favourite boost from the other game.
